“alright!” you shouted, the biggest smile on your face. you held up a case of beer, “guess who managed to sneak into Daryl’s stash?”

everyone cheered, making you laugh. Lydia ran up to you, “how did you manage to do that?!” she asked, looking at you with disbelief. “i have my ways,” you smirked.

you brought the case over to your small circle of friends. Carl, Enid, Sophia, Lydia and Henry. they were all here with you.

you sat next to Enid, pressing a kiss to her cheek as you handed her a bottle. “you practically risked your life for us,” she joked lightly. you shrugged, “i’ll find a new one for him.”

Lydia sat back down next to Henry. you watched with a soft smile as he wrapped his arms over her, kissing her head.

it was rare to have a night like this. so rare in fact that this is the first night you guys were able to finally all be together, acting like nothing bad was just right outside the gates of your home.

Enid tapped your shoulder, when you turned around she held out a handful of joints. your smile grew wider. “you’re the best girlfriend ever, do you know that?”

“i do.” she smiled cheekily. you pushed her shoulder. “guys! Enid brought some joints as well, we all get one each.” you announced. everyone gasped and reached to grab their own.

“this is seriously like, the best night ever.” Carl said, taking a sip of the beer. “i mean, we’ve never gotten to hang out like this together. if you think about it, it’s really the first time we’ve been able to act like… what we actually are. just teens.”

that’s all you guys were. teens who were forced into this broken world at such an early age. none of you got to grow up the way you were supposed to.

everyone was silent for a moment, taking in Carl’s words. “then let’s make the best of tonight.” Henry smiled, holding up his bottle of beer. you all agreed, clinking your bottles together. it felt like a cliche, but that’s what made it even better.

after everyone’s third beer, Carl sighed. “god, i remember the day this shit started.” he sighed. “my… mom rushing to pack my clothes, all of our pictures. before i really knew it, we have a camp by the quarry.”

“that’s where the three of us met.” Sophia said, pointing between you, her and Carl. “you guys met that long ago?” Lydia asked.

you all nodded, “yeah uh, Sophia was with her mom, Carl had his, i uh… lost mine already at that point, but Glenn found me in the woods. brought me back with him to their camp.”

“wow. so you guys have been through like… everything together.” Lydia said. “pretty much. yeah.” Carl chuckled.

at this point, everyone had started to feel the effects of the beer kick in. “okay, let’s play a game.” Enid said, clapping her hands. “if we want to get a true teen experience, we need to play something. like Never Have I Ever.” she said.

“that sounds fun.” you told her, “yeah! lets do it.”

“okay, rules, if you’ve done what someone asks you have to drink. for example, if i asked everyone if you ever fell into a pile of dead walkers and proceeded to stay there for five minutes because you were… comfortable… Y/N would take a drink.”

you stared at her, biting the inside of your cheek to hold back your laugh as everyone roared in laughter around you. “now why would you say that.”

“because you quite literally did that.” she responded. you pushed her shoulder again and took a sip of the beer. “okay, i have one.” you spoke up.

“uh oh.” Carl mumbled.

“never have i ever had a sex dream in front of half our group and proceeded to moan my name for three minutes straight.” Enid’s eyes widened as her face flushed red. “you did what?!” Sophia laughed.

“you are evil.” Enid told you. you smirked and shrugged, “take a sip, sweetheart.”

“okay, okay.” Carl said. you lit your joint, gesturing the lighter towards Enid to silently ask if she wanted hers lit too. she nodded and held out her joint for you to light it.

Carl’s mouth formed into a smirk, “never have i ever been late to a community meeting because i was too busy having sex with my girlfriend at eight in the morning.”

it was silent between the six of you, and then you and Enid slowly took a sip of your beers. “there’s no way.” Lydia said, staring at both of you with shock.

“i’m not appreciating the fact that we’re being targeted.” you said. “you guys started it.” Carl said. “okay, we need to think of something else before they expose everything about us.” Enid laughed, taking a hit from her joint.

“oh, i know what we could do.” Sophia said almost mischievously. “classic sleepover activity. ghost stories.” she proposed.

“oh yes. lets do it!” Lydia said. “i have one. i have literally never stopped thinking about it since it happened. you were there, Henry.” she started.

“remember the abandoned asylum we found?” she asked him. he thought for a moment before his mouth dropped open slightly. “oh yeah! that was so scary.”

everyone had started to light their joints as well, getting prepared for the stories. “it was a few months ago. me and Henry snuck out of Hilltop to just walk around. like how you and Enid do. we ended up at this really scary looking building that turned out to be an asylum.”

“where was it?” you questioned before she continued the story. “i think it was by the Target we used to go to for runs.” she answered.

“but anyways- we walked inside and this place instantly had a vibe to it that clearly was not welcoming. but we went further in anyways. there was this one room that we walked into, and Henry decided he wanted to try and summon something,”

Lydia gave Henry a look as she said that, and he put his hands up in defense, making you all laugh. “tell them what you did.” she told him.

“i uh,” he laughed. “i started to throw insults in the air. like ‘dumbass ghost’ and shit like that. and to be fair, i was pissing it off a lot. but um, after around five minutes i said something along the lines of ‘you’re too scared to face us” or some shit, and precisely two seconds after that, there was a vase that was behind us, it fell over and shattered completely.”

“famous last words.” you joked. “you forgot the other part.” Lydia told him. “the other..? OH!” Henry pulled his sleeve up, showcasing two scratch marks. “that also happened.”

all of your eyes widened, “what?!” Sophia yelled. “it scratched you?!” he nodded, laughing. “yeah, we got the hell out of there after that obviously. but yeah. do not go into that asylum. i can already see Y/N and Enid planning it.”

“oh fuck no. we are not going there.” Enid said, despite your whine. “but it sounds cool!” Enid shook her head, “you’re actually insane.”

everyone started talking amongst themselves, but you couldn’t help but take in all of your surroundings. your best friends sitting in yours and Enid’s house. the one that you owned together, which was something you never thought would ever be possible again.

you’d never thought you’d make it this far, and if you did, you figured you’d be miserable. but you’re not. everything was coming into place so perfectly. having a girlfriend you knew you couldn’t wait to marry, still having Carl and Sophia by your side throughout all of those years in the apocalypse, taking in Henry and saving Lydia. you finally had what you lost so many years ago.

there was no better feeling than the one you felt right now. maybe it was because you were drunk or high, but you wished this sense of euphoria would stay forever. you hoped you could all still be together like this years from now.

“hey,” Enid said softly, nudging your shoulder. “you’re out of it. what’s wrong?” she asked.

you smiled and shook your head. “nothings wrong. i’m just… really happy.” you admitted. “and god i love you. so fucking much.”

Enid giggled, leaning in to kiss your lips. “i love you too, pretty. so, so much.” you hummed against her lips, “wish we can stay like this with everyone forever.”

“then let’s do it.” she said. “it will always be us. forever.”

“forever.” you repeated. “yeah. that sounds good.” you smiled, leaning in to kiss her once more, ignoring everyone’s fake gags and groans.

GODZILLA X KONG : LE NOUVEL EMPIRE (2024)

Trois ans après avoir vaincu Mechagodzilla, Kong a établi son nouveau territoire dans la Terre creuse et recherche d'autres individus de son espèce. À la surface de la Terre, Godzilla continue de maintenir l'ordre entre l'Humanité et les monstres géants, connus sous le nom de « Titans ». Il affronte ainsi Scylla à Rome avant de se reposer au Colisée.

Un avant-poste d'observation de Monarch stationné dans la Terre creuse capte un signal non identifié. En surface, le signal provoque des hallucinations et des visions chez Jia, la dernière survivante connue de la tribu Iwi de Skull Island, ce qui inquiète sa mère adoptive, le Dr Ilene Andrews. Elle fait donc appel au podcasteur conspirationniste, Bernie Hayes, basé à Miami. Détectant également le signal, Godzilla quitte Rome et attaque une centrale nucléaire à Montagnac en France pour absorber les radiations. Godzilla se dirige ensuite vers le repaire du Titan Tiamat dans l'Arctique. Monarch pense que Godzilla se renforce pour faire face à une menace imminente.

Lorsqu'un gouffre s'ouvre près de chez lui, Kong découvre une région inexplorée où une tribu de son espèce a survécu, dont un juvénile nommé Suko. Après une première confrontation, Kong force Suko à le conduire au repaire de la tribu, et les deux se lient lentement d'amitié au cours de leur voyage. Le chef tyrannique de la tribu, le Skar King, combat Kong avec l'aide d'un ancien Titan propulsé par la glace, Shimo, que le Skar King contrôle avec douleur à l'aide d'un cristal. Le souffle glacé de Shimo endommage le bras droit de Kong, provoquant des engelures, mais avec l'aide de Suko, Kong parvient à s'échapper, bien qu'il perde sa hache dans le processus.

Andrews et Jia, aux côtés du vétérinaire Titan Trapper et Bernie Hayes, se rendent sur la Terre creuse pour localiser la source du signal. Ils trouvent l'avant-poste de Monarch détruit. Alors que le groupe s'aventure vers l'avant, ils découvrent un temple qui les mène à une section souterraine abritant une tribu Iwi survivante, qui communique par télépathie entre eux. En inspectant quelques ruines, ils supposent que le signal était un appel de détresse télépathique envoyé par les Iwi.

Tout en observant Jia socialiser avec les Iwi, Andrews exprime ses craintes à Trapper que Jia puisse choisir de rester avec son peuple et qu'Andrews devrait l'accepter. À l'intérieur d'un temple, Andrews découvre des hiéroglyphes affichant le passé et le futur : le Skar King a tenté une fois de conquérir le monde de la surface et a mené la guerre contre l'espèce de Godzilla, mais Godzilla l'a vaincu et l'a piégé, lui et sa tribu, au plus profond de la Terre creuse. La prophétie indique également que Jia serait la clé pour réveiller Mothra. Détectant Jia, Kong localise le temple et est équipé par Trapper d'un prototype d'attelle de bras exosquelettique pour renforcer et guérir son membre gelé. À leur insu, l'un des loyalistes du Skar King les a suivis et informe le Skar King, qui rassemble sa force d'invasion pour la Terre. Jia réveille avec succès Mothra renaissant.

Godzilla tue Tiamat et absorbe le rayonnement cosmique de son antre, le faisant évoluer et rendant ses plaques dorsales magenta. Dans l'espoir d'attirer Godzilla sur la Terre Creuse pour l'aider, Kong fait surface au Caire et appelle Godzilla. Malgré les tentatives de communication de Kong, un Godzilla en colère l'attaque et un bref combat s'ensuit jusqu'à ce que Mothra arrive avec Jia et convainc Godzilla d'aider Kong. Le trio se dirige ensuite vers la Terre Creuse pour affronter le Skar king avec Shimo et son armée. Le combat entraîne Godzilla, Kong, Shimo et le Skar King à Rio de Janeiro, où Shimo commence à provoquer une autre ère glaciaire sous les ordres du Skar King. Les factions sont à égalité jusqu'à ce que Suko arrive avec la hache de Kong et détruise le cristal contrôlant Shimo. Shimo et Kong gèlent alors le Skar King et le brisent.

Après avoir défait la période glaciaire de Shimo avec son souffle atomique, Godzilla retourne se reposer au Colisée. Jia retrouve Andrews et apaise ses craintes en choisissant de rester avec sa mère adoptive. Mothra restaure la barrière protectrice de la maison des Iwi puis s'en va. Kong revient avec Shimo et Suko sur la Terre Creuse, où il devient le nouveau chef de la tribu des singes.

Happy father’s day, and to all those without fathers I hope you make the best of this day. This is here for a little celebration!

Pairing: Henry Cavill x wife!reader

Summary: You and your daughter surprise Henry for father’s day.

Warnings: None, just fluff.

Word count: 562

Her name is Sophia, it seemed so obvious when you held her in your hands for the first time. Henry agreed instantly. It was just something in her violently curly black hair and a button nose that just screamed Sophia. And before you knew she’s already three years old.  

She’s grown up to be a confident little girl. Like said, she has Henry’s unruly black curls and his intense blue eyes. But your husband swears up and down that she has your attitude. A sharp tongue and even wiser than anyone outside your family would know.  

“How do you feel, pretty girl?” You ask, watching as she analysis the hairdo you had done for her. “It’s perfect, Mommy.” Her eyes shine bright and she flashes you a smile directly stolen from your husband. You can’t help yourself and pepper kisses all over her little face. Watching her little button nose scrunch up.  

A giggle pours out of the bathroom before you press your finger against your lip. “Shh, my smart girl, you’re gonna’ wake Papa up.” You wink at her as her eyes grow big and she shakes her head. Then you scoop her up and place her on your hip.  

“Are you going to carry the presents, while Moma brings the food?” You explain, watching when you put her down and she pets Kal, who absolutely adores her. She mumbles an agreement and grabs the present. She scolds ever so slightly when he almost makes her trip.  

You give her the go-ahead when you finally reach the bedroom. Both of you seem to stop and admire him sleeping so peacefully. His broad form takes up most of the bed. His chest rise and fall and his own curls splayed across his cushion and forehead.  

That is quickly interrupted by Soph running and jumping on the bed. “Papa, papa! Wake up, wake up!” She screams with glee, seeing out so much to this. Since you told her what you were planning, she’s been ‘planning’ with you.  

Now, finally, that the time has come she is just bouncing with excitement. Henry’s blue eyes snap open, thinking the worst before seeing his little girl beam down at him. His hands reach up and grab her, also peppering her with kisses.  

“Good morning, my two most special girls.” He beams at you, gently grabbing your arm after you place the breakfast tray in his lap. Placing affable kissing on your wrist. “And why am I being so spoiled this morning?” He asks little Sophia, pulling her close into his side.  

“Happy Father’s Day, papa!” she grins handing him her present package. He can already feel the tears forming. He never thought that this would happen. That he would be in such a position to have two of his own beautiful girls pampering him.  

“Really?” He canvases your facial expression, still struggling to believe that this is his life. “Yes, papa. Open your present.” His little girl answers for you and he doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to say no. He does as instructed, cooing and praising Sophia for her many Father’s Day paintings and drawings, all covered with glitter of course.  

Then he pulls out the new Warhammer painting set, limited edition, you got him and a fancy bottle of decades-old Bourbon. And after that, he shares his breakfast and cuddles his girls close.

A/N: here’s a little Drabble for our favorite family. I wasn’t so happy with how it ended but I’ve only slept for 6 hours in the last 48👍🏻🥺😴

Henry had his hair pulled back and his apron on. Big beautiful blue eyes followed your every movement. From his place on the step stool he helped you work. You needed to get back to your normal routine and what was more normal than cooking with Henry?

With a smile on his face he does as you ask. Music plays softly from a speaker and you ask him what he was up to while you were gone. It’s a sweet back and forth as you both move around the kitchen. Henry’s found a love for cooking and you’re more than happy to encourage him. Sometimes Lottie helps but she makes more of a mess than anything. Those days were fun too but Henry was taking this very seriously. You watched as he focused on the task in front of him. Furrowed brows and his tongue poking out as he made sure his job was done perfectly.

“Is this good mama?” He looks up at you.

“It’s perfect. Now we have to get everything in the pot.”

You spend the rest of the morning working on a few different dishes. Lottie and Bucky walk in every so often, mostly to be taste testers. When it gets closer to dinner time everyone gets ready to head to the shared dining room.

You were grateful that Sophia had bought the kids an outfit for thanksgiving dinner. There were so many things going on that it was the last thing on your mind but it was their first major holiday and they deserved something special. Lottie wore a shirt and skirt combo with her hair half up and a bow to finish off the look. While Henry left his hair down, his outfit was a t-shirt and jeans. You and Bucky went with sweaters and jeans, something simple but comfortable.

It was good that Tony decided that this year would be family only. Your dad was in the living room watching football with Sophia, Steve, Tony, Joshua and Clint. Bucky joined them after dropping off some of the dishes you’d made. Sam, Sarah, Laura, Pepper, Molly, Luke and now you were going back and forth in the kitchen while the kids ran off to play.

Once everything was ready everyone gathered at the table, even the kids. Everybody got a chance to say what they were grateful for and Henry was next. He kneeled on his chair so that he could be seen.

“I-um,” he looked over at you and Bucky, the nerves getting the better of him. “I’m thankful that you’re my family.”

Some awed at his words.

“I’m thankful that you found me and I don’t have to be with the bad men anymore.” He looks over at Lottie before his eyes settle on you and Bucky. “And I’m thankful for having baby back and that you’re my daddy and my mama.”

Henry gets off his chair and stands between you and Bucky so that he can hug you both. Then he gives Lottie a kiss on the cheek and settles back down on his chair.

Lottie, having picked up what everyone was saying, stands up on her chair. She gets shy for a moment but with some encouragement she speaks up.

“Am tankful fo’ bubba.” She says first and then she lists all of her aunts and uncles and gwandpa, “an am tankful fo’ Steebie.” She gives him a big smile before turning to you. “Am tankful fo’ habing mama home. An habing dada, I lobe dada.” She gets a bit tearful at the end and she reaches for you and then Bucky.

By this point you’re wrecked emotionally but you speak anyway.

“Well,” you clear your throat. “I’m very thankful that I have you all in my life. I’m grateful for being here today, which wouldn’t have been possible without all of you. Most importantly I’m so thankful for you.” You turn to look at Bucky. “Bucky, you make me so happy and I love you so much. I’m so thankful for Henry and Charlotte. I’m so happy to be your mama.” You turn to them to find them both teary eyed. “You two are the best thing to ever happen to me.”

Everyone turns to look at Bucky and he rolls his eyes. You chuckle and elbow him lightly.

“Fine.” He huffs before smiling. “Everything Y/N said.”

Sam throws a bread roll at Bucky which causes everyone to laugh while Sam boos.

“Say something.”

“I’m grateful for everyone except Sam.”

Again everyone laughs.

“But really, I am thankful for all of you. You helped me and the kids during one of the hardest times for us.” Bucky turns and takes your hand. “I’m thankful to have you in my life. I love you so much and you are the best mother to our kids. After being freed I never thought I’d find someone that could love me or want to have children with me and here you are proving me wrong. I’m so lucky to be a father to two of the sweetest kids I’ve ever met.” Bucky leans forward and winks at Lottie and Henry. “I love you two so much. Finally I’m thankful for Ed. You’re a great man, I wouldn’t have made it through the last three months without you.”

“Now that’s a speech.”

“Hey pops, why don’t you carve the turkey?” Tony says as he hands the knife over to Eddie.

“Everyone pay attention. I’m gonna show you how it’s done.”

Dinner was great. Everyone laughed and talked amongst themselves. Henry was praised for the food he helped cook. You could tell how proud he was and you’d told him as much.

After dinner and the clean up everyone moved to the shared living room. There was some dancing, games were played and tipsy karaoke happened. During most of this you and Bucky had taken the love seat. Bucky had one leg stretched out on the couch allowing you to sit with your back resting against his chest. His arms kept you safe and close as your hands intertwined with his. Bucky would press kisses every so often against your temple or he’d comment on whatever was happening. Both of you happily watched the others joke around or sang along. The kids couldn’t contain their happiness as they kept running up to the two of you and expressing how much fun they were having.

Later when the kids were in bed, falling asleep easily from all of their excitement over their first thanksgiving and you were in Bucky’s arms, you couldn’t help but think back at what you survived. It was over and you were back home in the arms of the man you loved and your sweet little ones.

There were so many more firsts the kids would be experiencing and you were thankful that you’d get to be there with them.

You were both at the Hilltop, this is where you lived. You had just hit 21 and had already been through 6 years without Carl.

Your mom and your step father that was just like the father you never had brought you guys here for a while, especially Henry, you were kinda just there to look after him.

“Hey (Y/N), you got a second?” “Hi, yeah what’s going on?” your adoptive brother walks to you all nervous.

You knew about the whisperer girl that Daryl interrogated, you didn’t know the whole story about her but you knew Henry got close to her and to be honest, you felt like this was none of your business, still worried about your little brother.

Then her mother went to get her back and she left, you knew it hurt Henry but you couldn’t really do anything about it.

You step out of the nursery you were reorganizing and you guys sit down together,

“Are you okay? You look pale Hen” you said worried he’d be sick. You kinda developed a phobia of sick people, seeing Carl after the bite kinda stayed in your mind.

“I’m alright don���t worry. I just- you know the girl that just left, i really think we, i don’t know.” he tried to find the words desperately.

“Did you fall for her?” you said smiling. “I don’t know that’s why I’m here. Do you think she’s worth it?”

“Worth what? Risking your life for her? I don’t think a lot of people are worth your life Henry.” he was exactly the age Carl was when he died. You’re very overprotective of your little brother.

“If i love her then she is, yeah?” he stared into your eyes agitating his hands. “Do you love her?” you suddenly lost your smile.

“How did you know you were in love?” that one hit you right in the face. Your brother knew about the boy you loved, he also knew you never found love again afterwards, at least you didn’t allow yourself to.

But you didn’t talk about it much, you immediately shut yourself up when someone tried to talk about it. I think the only one you allowed to ask about Carl was Henry, cause he reminded you of him sometimes, he had a kind heart like Carl did.

When he asked you this, you gulped and you thought about it, you slowly fell in love with Carl while you were growing up together, the real day you realized was the day you arrived to Alexandria.

You had big trust issues because of the terminus and all the crazy shit that happened to you in the past years.

You and everyone else were sleeping in the living room of one of the houses Deana gave y’all. You were laying in a sleeping bag on the floor right next to Carl.

Everyone was settling their “bed” in the room and you guys were already laying next to each other, “Do you think you’ll manage to sleep tonight?” he asked you nervously playing with the bag’s zipper.

“I think so, i feel safe with everyone here and i know my mom or Daryl are certainly not gonna sleep so we’re alright i guess.” he nodded but didn’t seem convinced.

You wanted him to relax and finally get to sleep under a roof, sort of safe. Your instinct told you to put your hand on his and you immediately did, he stopped fidgeting the zipper and looked at you.

“You finally get a real night sleep, at least tonight, it’s been so long. Look at this house, we talked about this remember? How we missed our old houses? This one kinda looks like mine, maybe it’s not safe here but at least this one night, people are doing the job for us.“ you looked at the adults of the room saying this, Carl followed your look.

He seemed more relaxed at that moment, when you guys stared at each other and when he started soothing your hand with his thumb, it was just the two of you and you finally put words on your feelings, you were very much in love.

“I don’t think i could’ve done this without you, (Y/N), i couldn’t have been the only kid. Without anyone to talk to, someone who understands.” he looked so tired.

“I’m glad i’ve got you too.” you smile turning to look at him while he was facing the ceiling. You looked at him closely, he was like, the most beautiful boy you had ever seen.

You kept looking at him for a while, everyone treated you like adults and you had to behave like ones but when it was just the two of you you could finally be your age.

You could laugh and talk like actual 14 then 15 year olds.

When everyone headed to sleep, at least for some of you, Carl decided to get his sleeping bag closer to yours when the lights were down so he could hold you in his arms the whole night.

At first you thought he did this to reassure you but rethinking about this, Carl did this to reassure himself. To know someone was there.

When you fell asleep that night, you knew you were going to love him for the rest of your life. And you’re convinced he realized he was in love with you right at the same moment.

When you get back to Henry after this split second of reflection, he’s desperately waiting for an answer.

“Well, when i realized i felt safe around him, i could lay my head on his shoulder to fall asleep as if i was in the safest home in the world. That he was the one who understood me and that i understood too. When i realized i could calm him down with my words because he truly cared about what i had to say. Because he cared and i cared. Because he looked after me and i looked after him.”

Henry was paying so much attention to your words.

“He wrote me on his death letter, you quote him, “I knew that wherever i would go, i would find my way back to your arms, back to the house we built for each other. I know that someday, i’ll walk in our little house again and i’ll find you waiting in a sleeping bag.” if she feels like a safe home to you. You’re in love.” your eyes were watering of course.

“I don’t know if she loves me as much as you love Carl but, i think i love her. And if i’m right, i’m losing her right now.” he had glowing eyes, you had a feeling he was in love with her.

You pulled him into a comforting hug; “Please, Henry, do what you gotta do but i beg you to stay safe and think before you do something sweetheart.”

You held him so tight into your arms “Promise me, Hen.” you told him a tear rolling down your cheek. “Promise me.” you said again.

“I promise you, (Y/N)” you let go of your strong hold and kiss his forehead, hands holding his face.

“I love you, and i have a feeling you’ll really see him again one day.” he smiles down at you.

“I love you too, i love you so much.” you let go of his face and watch him walking away, not knowing what he would do.

Samuel Stratford is now Peter Spankoffski, selfless scientist with a heart of gold, determined to protect his (younger) sister from the horrors the two are about to encounter.

Rose Stratford is now Ruth Fleming, a wannabe writer, oftentimes shy, with a thrill for adventure (even if her anxiety prevents her from experiencing the joys of life.) In New York City, her and her parents found a scrawny young boy on the path (Peter) and took him in, unofficially adopting him. When her parents passed away within days of each other when the two of them were 18, Peter became her sworn protector, ensuring that she remains at her happiest. She is mostly content making bricks.

Benjamin Park is now Grace Chasity, who continues to try to sabotage Peter and Ruth by trying to get them to join the church!

Margeret Cavendish is now Stephanie Lauter, a woman trying to find her place in the world with a constant sense of longing and unfamiliarity surrounding her unless she is in the presence of the moon.

Chester Thomas is now Henry Hidgens. Because, no matter the timeline, would do anything to get Workin Boys produced (spoiler alert: he succeeds)

John Herschel is now Richard Lipschitz. Specifically Richard, never Richie, the man is a celebrity, catching wind of what the Fleming siblings were saying about him all the way in Japan during his studies. It is he who encourages the siblings (and Stephanie) to join him on his travels. Through him, they will encounter seas, storms, space and strenghts they never thought they'd get to see.

Anna Hanover is now Alice Woodward, Richard's best friend with a heart for mathematics and protection. She worked hard to bring her vision to life, not stopping for anything. She was quick to befriend the three new workers Richard brought to her, and even quicker to tease Richard regarding his newfound feelings for a certain Miss Fleming.

Charles T Coram is now Charles Coven because why would he be anyone else? Theyre both powerful. They're both incredibly rich. They'd both do anything to get more power. That's it.

Uh, good evening... I am kinda tired of writing smut, so tired that I like, left, for a month... Anywho, here is some fluff. Also I’m writing this in such a funny order. Press is part of an actor, it is a part of being a celebrity. Many enjoy it, it lets them travel the world to all types of fun place. And yes, Henry does enjoy it. What he also enjoys is staying, in bed, with his beautiful wife, all while his little daughter worms her way under the sheets. She would giggle and laugh as the both of her parents would tickle her wildly.

Henry is quite active on talking about them whenever he has the possibility. “What has been the most difficult thing, for you, during all this press?” Ali, the interviewer asks, already knowing the answer but just wanting to hear him ramble. The bigger man chuckles, his cute canines glimmering.

“I feel that answer is too obvious, my family of course.” He smiles, just thinking about the two of you. Little did he know, you and Ali have been talking, making plans behind the scenes. It’s finally school vacation after all. “Yes, I heard your little girl just turned four, congratulations.” He smiles to him, peaking at his notes to every next move.

“Yes, I can’t believe it. She is such a vibrant little girl. And I’ve always wanted a family and to share that with someone as amazing as Y/N, I don’t think someone could be more spoiled than I am.” He chatters on, to be honest, if someone let him, he could talk on and on and on.

“Kal’s even been missing them too, I can tell,” he chuckles, petting the pupper’s head sitting by him. “I’m sorry, I’m rambling,” he blushes ever so slightly, realising he’s done it once more. Even his brother’s had started to tease him on his babbling.

Ali, shakes his head, “No, no, I wanted to talk about Y/N actually because when have something that might help with your longing.” The man with glasses turns over his shoulder, Henry’s eyes follow to the door which he entered from. Expecting for some silly puppet or toy that might have some resemblance of them.

But no, his heart hammers in his ears and his eyes light up when he sees you, with your daughter enter through the door. “Daddy!” Their little girl calls out, running full speed to her father, not caring for any wires or expensive cameras. “Sophia, hello my little angel,” He smiles wide, getting up from his seat to pick up his little girl.

She giggles wildly when Henry showers her with kisses. Not to mention, Kal, even if well trained, jumps up with excitement too. Smelling and licking her cute little booties. Her untamed black curls tied up in cute purple bows. Exactly like her dad’s.

And when you reach him, he can’t help but pull you closer by the waist. Wanting so to kiss you passionately, but deciding against it, for everyone else’s sake. “Hello, my dear,” he whispers in your ear. Settling for sweet kiss on the cheek. Kal already twirling circles around you.

A seat already pulled up for you, next to Henry, you both sit down. Sophia comfortably sat in her father’s lap. Her little mind occupied by the shiny ring on Henry’s finger. He’s notice it to be a habit of hers. “What are you doing here?” He asks, taking your hand in his, the one not keeping Sophia in place.

You give that bright smile of yours, the one he loves so much. The one that still causes him butterflies to this day. You smirk to Ali and give a shrug, “We planned to surprise you,” you say, tucking a stray curl behind Henry’s ear. “By God, I love you,” he mutters under his breath.

His schedule was cleared for the rest of the day and he treated you both to your favourite allergy friendly ice-cream and anything else you could possibly want.

Do you know if dowries for wealthy families were usually predetermined standard amounts, or whether it was some function of income / number of daughters?

Looking at Pride and Prejudice alone, it seems that it’s about (income x 3) / # daughters: Mr. Bennet’s 2000 gives each girl about 1000 pounds, and Darcy’s 10,000 gives Georgiana 30,000.

I feel like that’s the wrong way to go about calculating a dowry, since I’m sure if Darcy had another sister she would also get 30,000, but I’m not sure how it was done, and some (light) research didn’t help.

Short answer: it seems like many women’s fortunes are made up of their mother’s former dowry, split between them. This may be added to, but the wealthiest unmarried women in Austen’s novels are usually from small families (or have few sisters), meaning less division of the original fortune took place. 

Long and kind of rambly Answer:

First, we must remember that the #1 rule of Jane Austen finance is Never Spend the Principle. These people for the most part are living on the income of generational wealth. A good portion of this wealth is in land, but some is in investments. They never spend that money. (Also, a lot of the time, they literally can’t spend the principle, it’s in trust and protected by legal agreements)

When a woman marries, her fortune can be, and it seems like often is, preserved for her children in the marriage articles (legal agreement made at the time of marriage, similar to a will). We see this with Mrs. Bennet. She brought £4000 into the marriage, one additional thousand must have been supplied by the Bennet family, resulting in a safe £5000 for the mother and daughters. Now if Mr. Bennet was prudent, he could have reinvested the income on that fortune, resulting in very healthy dowries for his own daughters, but if course he didn't. (I have a whole post about that here)

Now here is an interesting point, the £5000 set aside for Mrs. Bennet and her daughters is not already divided. This means if the Bennets wanted to tempt a man to marry one of their daughters, they could offer the full £5000 as one daughter’s dowry. However, that isn’t what we see most commonly in Jane Austen’s novels; we see equal division. But we do see many fortunes that are not released until the death of both parents.

For example, here is Anne Elliot’s fortune: “a small part of the share of ten thousand pounds which must be hers hereafter”. Anne’s dowry is most likely in trust, unable to be touched by her father. However, the wedding articles probably give him a life interest and since he needs the income, she doesn't get it right away. Anne will probably get her money upon her father's death. This amount is most likely Lady Elliot’s dowry, divided between her daughters. Henry Tilney is getting a similar inheritance: Of a very considerable fortune, his son was, by marriage settlements, eventually secure. But it does not go to Henry until his father dies. John Dashwood inherits a similar fortune from his mother.

You can see here why it’s a problem if you marry someone who is penniless and you don’t have a big income! Mr. Bennet doesn’t have a big fortune to start with so he really, REALLY needed to save...but even Darcy is going to have to be prudent to give his daughter’s sufficient fortunes down the road having married the poor Elizabeth Bennet. Marrying for wealth wasn’t only greedy, it’s about maintaining this generational wealth. If too much leaves in dowries, you get into trouble. Or you have to provide less money and your daughters don’t marry as well as you desire.

Some of the large dowries we see are from trade: Caroline Bingley’s 20k, Sophia Grey’s 50k (the future Mrs. Willoughby), and Augusta Hawkins’s 10k (the future Mrs. Elton). Lady Middleton and Mrs. Palmer are the daughters of a tradesman as well. This is important because this money is new, which a lot of old families desperately needed after getting into debt. Many properties were entailed, meaning they could not be sold. If you got into debt, it was hard to get out because you can’t sell anything. And for families in trade, well-educated and wealthy daughters had a good chance of marrying up.

So, Georgiana Darcy’s fortune may well be the money that Lady Anne brought into her marriage. Importantly, Georgiana is an only daughter. I actually doubt if she had a sister that they would both have 30k, they might have 15k or 20k each. The wealthiest women we see come from very small families, like the wealthy Caroline and Louisa Bingley, Emma and Isabella Woodhouse,  Anne de Bourgh, and Miss Morton, the only daughter of Lord Morton (S&S). Even Agusta Hawkins is one of only two children. Which makes sense because it’s hard to save, but it’s easy to just take the dowry and pass it on, which if you are an only daughter works out great. If you are Catherine Morland it might not work so well.

Could you please write something about Sophie going dress shopping with Kate and Violet before the wedding and going to Madame Delacroix and the awkward situation that Sophie is in as Benedict has told her that him had a fling with Madame Delacroix

So I’d done something similar in another story, another life I think… but I’ve had a go… it’s taken me a few days my muse has been a bit fickle so I hope it’s okay…

Sophie hadn’t expected Benedict to sit her down after breakfast before she was due to be dragged shopping by his mother and his sister-in-law, to get everything ready for the wedding on Monday and tell her everything about his past.

His roguish ways, his nights at Henry’s parties, his night with Geneveive and Lucy, his affair with Geneveive and then with Tessa and all the women before. It had almost blown Sophie’s mind and when she’d asked why he was telling her this he’d replied “I don’t want any secrets between us”

And Sophie hadn’t thought much about it, that was until the carriage pulled up outside of Madame Delacroix’s shop and Sophie felt her stomach drop.

Was that why he’d told her?

Did the seamstress still have feelings for him? Had the affair been more than he’d let on…

Had he been intent on flustering her… had he wanted to warn her, there were a million questions running through her head as she was helped down out of the carriage.

“Madame Delacroix is the best seamstress in London, she will have dresses ready that we can have altered to make up your trousseau, and with a little extra I am sure she can have some new things made” Violet said.

“It seems like such a short time…” Sophie said

“Oh Madame Delacroix manages this all the time, she managed it for me, I am sure she can sort something for you” Kate replied cheerfully, looping her arm into Sophie’s and leading her into the shop.

Sophie felt sick as they crossed the threshold into the shop and were greeted by an elegant looking woman, her greeting with the French accent was obviously fake and Sophie raised a brow.

She’d heard enough fake french accents from maids she’d worked with over the years to know a fake one when she heard one but it wasn’t her place, she was just working on just trying not to throw up.

What on earth was a woman meant to do when she is face to face with her future husband’s ex-lover…

“Ohhh Madame Delacroix, thank you for agreeing to see us on such short notice. Sophia here is in need of a full wardrobe and trousseau as soon as possible, she is to marry Benedict on Monday” Violet said brightly as she wandered into the shop.

“But of course, I have some dresses nearly ready that were meant for another but they have changed their mind, I think perhaps a few adjustments will fit and they look like the right colours, come through Mademoiselle, I can take your measurements” Geneiveve said, trying to keep her own voice breezy and polite.

“Go on, we’ll have a look at some materials, you’ll be fine sweetheart” Violet said encouragingly and Sophie had no choice but to go through.

She assumed that Violet had no idea about her son’s past with the seamstress so she followed her through to the back and within 10 minutes she was out of her dress and in her really old stays.

Sophie felt incredibly awkward, “I…” she stammered

“It is okay ma cherie… I have seen worse” she smiled softly

The two stood there for a few moments as Madame Delacroix grabbed her tape measure before Sophie couldn’t keep it anymore.

“Benedict told me about the two of you…”

Madame Delacroix froze but felt a small smile form on her face “that doesn’t surprise me… he is an honest person. I cannot imagine he would want to keep secrets from his wife, but do not worry, we have not been together for a long time. It was a bit of fun, nothing to worry about” she said politely.

“R…really?” Sophie asked

“Yes, we are nothing more than friends, we have not been for two years… we have spoken at parties, where he was there for the art, not for the women or anything, he went to paint, he spent a lot of time painting… well he painted you… in a silver dress” she said. “Even if I wanted to, he only had eyes for you, so please… do not worry, he loves you very much” she said “your stays, your past… nothing matters, after tomorrow, your future is brighter, you will be a Bridgerton… and we will make you look like the part”

“Thank you… truly, I was a little worried, I had no idea why he told me, I thought perhaps he wanted to warn me that you were still interested in him… I don’t know” Sophie said with a sigh of relief.

“Benedict is an honest man, i cannot imagine that he would want to keep his past secret from the woman he wants to spend his life with, and if he knows your past… then I am sure he would want you to know his”

“You know about my past…?” Sophie asked confused

“A woman’s stays says a lot about her. These are not the stays of the ladies of the ton, I know enough of the maids… and besides, I recognised you, you brought in a couple of Lady Penwood’s daughter’s dresses, but your accent it says as much as your stays do”

“Your accent tells me a lot about you too…” Sophie said with a small smile.

Genevieve chuckled and dropped the French accent “well yes, it was easier to take over from Crossy’s daughter’s if I pretended to be French, to blend in… something I am sure you know well”

“French is easier to use than to learn to drop the accent you knew for years but please do not worry, your secret is safe with me… I hope… that mine will be safe with you?” Sophie asked

Genevieve smiled “I hear things that I do not repeat, what happens in here, stays in here… it is not my place, besides, you are a lady of the ton, that is who you are, who you were born to be, you just got a little lost finding your way there… now…” she said with a pull of the tape measure and putting her accent back on as she heard the footsteps of the two Lady Bridgerton’s “let us show the world the latest Mrs Bridgerton!”

Sophie beamed, letting out a deep breath “Si-vous plait!”

The two women shared a smile as Kate and Violet walked in, unaware of what had passed and Sophie spent the afternoon being fitted with new stays, having dresses readjusted and some new ones designed and Sophie promised that she’d be back for more once she was settled.
