Une exceptionnelle exposition s’ouvre au musée de l’Orangerie. Courez-y avant le 29 mai. « Matisse. Cahiers d’art, le tournant des années 30 » nous plonge au coeur d’une décennie pendant laquelle le peintre va retrouver son envie de peindre en contribuant au débat opposant la ligne et la couleur depuis la renaissance. Sur cette période, la revue Les Cahiers d’art documente ce parcours. En 1930, Matisse dessine et sculpte aisément mais peine à peindre. Lors d’un voyage à Tahiti en passant par les Etats-Unis, il se régénère auprès du ciel bleu franc de New York et de la lumière jouant dans les eaux émeraudes des mers de l’Océanie. La commande d’une fresque murale pour la fondation Barnes clôt son périple. Ce sera « la danse». Pour cette fresque, Matisse invente la technique des papiers gouachés et découpés. Il écrit : «  Au lieu de dessiner le contour et d'y installer la couleur – l'un modifiant l'autre – je dessine directement dans la couleur ». L’artiste atteint l’équilibre parfait entre formes et couleurs. En miroir de la danse, les cahiers d’art disposent Guernica de Picasso. La similitude du processus créatif frappe, notamment l’utilisation de la photographie par les peintres pour jalonner l’avancement de leur oeuvre. A la fin des années 30, Matisse retrouve sa vitalité. La simplicité, la fraîcheur et l’éclat caractérisent l’ensemble de tableaux de nus ou de figures portant parures et blouses roumaines de la dernière salle. Vous cherchez votre prochaine exposition ?
