Hiii, just saw your list of books you wanna read this 2025 and since you asked for recs...

I cannot emphasize enough how strong of a grip the Guides for Dating Vampires series by D.N.Bryn has on me. It's a standalone urban fantasy series of 3 books (with 2 more on the way!) + a prequel novella, featuring *wonderfully* written queer, disabled and ND rep, with a bunch of dorky vampires and their lovely partners that are all trying to take down an evil pharmaceutical company. That's all I can say without spoiling too much lol. The first book is called "How to Bite Your Neighbor and Win a Wager"!

I'd also recommend "Our Bloody Pearl" by the same author. It features a disabled siren and the pirate captain that rescues them, with amazing disabled, aroce and QP rep. It also changed my life a little bit.

Aaaand those are the first that come to mind! Happy new year, friend! 💜

coffee. i'm not a frequent coffee drinker, but something about it early in the morning, slowly sipping on it while i wake up has become a ritual for me.

cats. big cats, lil kittens, and all the house cats in between.

thunderstorms. the sound, the smell, the rain... ahhh it's so calming to me. i love sitting under an overhang or safely at my window and just watch it come down.

my friends <3. i don't have a relationship with my family, not really. the friends i have i keep close and they become my new family :)

Favorite scene: I have two, and they're both related to Silco's death. The actual death scene, and immediately following when Jinx launches the rocket into the Council, and then the river burial scene. I sobbed in both <3

Least favorite scene: Isha's death scene. I know it was meant to be a heavy moment but it did not hit emotionally for me.

I'm really curious to know how the firstprince cowboy!au and the wesper sex shop fics are coming along!! 👀

👀 so I haven't touched either of them in a little bit because of the aforementioned "life is hard" but! They are two projects that I am very very very excited for 😊

I actually had a conversation about the sex shop au yesterday that has given me some structure ideas that I think will really help sort out some of the issues I've been having with it 👀 like it sorta cracked the code of why it's been a bit tricky so hopefully with time I'll be able to work on that a bit more!

and with cowboy au!! Idk it's just good vibes 😅 I'm a bit more fickle about when I go back to my FirstPrince stuff tbh but I reckon I'll have a sad day and decide hurting Henry fox will help 😂 so, we'll see!

Anyway my favourite parts of each of them:

Ooooooo this is one is a real angst wringer! I really only had an outline prior to the ask game, so have a snippet of everything I've actually written so far for the fic!

“All right?” Vander asks, the deep baritone of his voice reverberating against Silco’s body. Silco represses a shudder, choosing instead to grip Vander’s shoulders more tightly as he fights to keep his breathing even.  “Mmmhmm,” Silco mumbles, because that’s all he can manage. If he tries to form real words, he already knows only the darkest, more heinous things will come tumbling out of his mouth. It’s fine, he tells himself through measured inhales, while trying not to gag at the smell of cigarettes that Vander prefers. Tries not to remember that’s what he’d smelled like, right before he shoved SIlco’s head under the polluted waters of the Pilt. It’s fine, he repeats to himself. It’s not the same as before, it’s not real, you’re overreacting again, it’s fine, it’s fine, it’s— “Silco,” Vander sighs, loosening his embrace and then pulling away. Despite the fear and adrenaline still running through him, Silco tries to reach for the other man, but Vander only shakes his head. Whatever he sees on Silco’s face must make things worse, for Vander’s expression goes from exasperated to horrified to mournful, all in just a matter of moments.

aadhfjgkg YEAH SO the concept is 1) Henry is sad, 2) Henry moves to America, 3) Henry meets and falls in love with the son of the woman who has agreed to host him, 4) shenanigans of both the horny and angsty variety ensue 😌 i'm not entirely sure why he ended up being trans but it's set in the 1850s ish and is best described as DEEPLY historically inaccurate, but also super fun!!!!

anywhere here is our lovely trans boy:

Henry shifts. "I figured."

In the firelight, Alex appraises him wordlessly. "Plenty of folks from out of town seem to think it's an illness," he says, voice a little lower than it was a moment ago. "No one says it out loud, but they all think I'm fucked in the head."

"If anything is wrong with you I'd be more inclined to say it's your irritating habit for making rash decisions," Henry replies.

Alex ducks his head, but not fast enough to hide the smile dancing across his lips. That thrills Henry, too, although it shouldn't. He watches Alex lean back, palms pressed to the worn fabric of his jacket splayed behind him. His fingers curl like all he actually wants is to feel the scraggly grass beneath his fingers. It is so endearing it aches.
