A Future With You (MakoHaru Week 2023)

Hello, friends! It’s been a while since the MakoHaru week ended, but I didn’t have the time to put all the fics together in a collection-post before, so here it is now. Here you can find all the fics that I wrote for the occasion along with a little description. Day 1: Hidden in Plain Sight Prompt: Body Worship. Rating: E. Word count: 9,6k Setting: Historical AU. “For the past five years, Makoto has been working as a servant at the earl’s estate, the last four of which as the valet of the earl’s son, Lord Haruka. But no one knows the true nature of his job and, if their secret were to be discovered, it would have catastrophic consequences for both Haruka and himself. When Haruka makes him a life-changing proposition, Makoto has to decide if he dares to risk it all for a shot at happiness.” (AO3)

Day 2: A Piece of Me (is Always With You) Prompt: Love Letters. Rating: T. Word count: 6,4k. Setting: Post-Canon. “While at a training camp in Stockholm, Haruka finds himself feeling lonely without Makoto, who is studying for exams back in Tokyo. When he’s reminded of an unanswered letter Makoto sent him when they were children, Haruka thinks this might be the perfect opportunity to finally respond to it.” (AO3)

Day 3: Hydrangeas, Orange Blossoms, and Everything in Between Prompt: Flowers + Soulmates. Rating: G. Word count: 5,1k Setting: Soulmate AU. “On his late grandmother’s birthday, Haruka goes to a flower shop to buy a bouquet with his grandmother’s favourite flowers. There, Haruka finally meets the person responsible for the ever-changing soulmate mark adorning the inside of his wrist.” (AO3)

Day 4: A Spoonful of Love Prompt: Cooking. Rating: T. Word count: 5,6k. Setting: Post-Canon. “After two weeks apart, Haruka is finally coming home from a training camp and Makoto wants to surprise him with a special dinner. With the moral support and guidance of his mother, Makoto whips up a dish he’s never made before.” (AO3)

Day 5: Toast to the Future Prompt: Proposal. Rating: T. Word count: 5,5k. Setting: Post-Canon. “After months of working hard for the Olympics, Haruka and Makoto go on a luxurious vacation to relax and unwind. But that’s not all Haruka has in store for Makoto; he surprises him with a romantic date night that sets the course for the rest of their lives.” (AO3)

Day 6: Tell Me Once More Prompt: Cuddles. Rating: T. Word count: 3,2k. Setting: Post-Canon. “When Makoto comes home from work somber and upset, Haruka knows just what to do and say to raise his spirits.” (AO3)

Day 7: Heart-Shaped Chocolates Prompt: Genderbend. Rating: T. Word count: 7k. Setting: High School. “Although Valentine’s Day is Haruka’s least favourite holiday for one specific reason, when Makoto requests her help to make chocolates for their friends and classmates, she can’t refuse. But when Makoto asks her who she’s going to hand out chocolates to, Haruka can’t avoid confronting her true feelings.” (AO3)

i need ur advice on something :)) i used to have a blog that was solely for reblogging and fic recs but i would write but just never post. i eventually posted one fic and it got way more attention than i expected and it had a couple thousand notes. then people started sending me asks and dm’ing me requests and to write more which i did for like a couple weeks but i got so overwhelmed that i deleted my acc 😭😭 this was a year ago haha and now idk if i should repost that fic and continue writing and post what i already have or just keep roblogging fics like i do now bc i’m scared i’ll get overwhelmed again 😭 ik i can set my boundaries and have requests closed but i’m just worried that if i do start posting i’ll have the urge to deactivate. and that’s like the last thing i wanna do bc i get so bummed out when others do that. sorry if this is really long ik it’s such a do or don’t situation. i really do like writing and want to share it with others but at the same time idk if i could stick it out longer than last time. if this is really confusinf im so sorry 😭

hello babie!!! i totally understand where you're coming from. if you want to write then i definitely recommend starting up your blog again. i'd advise you to create a post and pin it to the top of your blog setting boundaries, just like i do -- there's no shame in not taking requests or anything like that!!! writing is supposed to be fun!!! if you don't want to deactivate, you absolutely don't have to either!! you can just put your blog on hiatus!! if you had the urge to do this, i would also say to make it a sideblog instead of your main so you don't have to get rid of your account entirely if you get that urge. and also: you don't have to meet a quota or anything!! just write what you want, when you want to.

Hello there! Getting Started™️in tumblr rp has two parts, I think. making the actual blog, and networking (while Doing Things.)

Your blog itself probably needs a rules page, this can be anything you want to say or express- some people's rules are specific, some are just a few sentences. Establishing some boundaries or guidelines can be pretty important! But! it's entirely up to you, it gives a first impression to others on you as the writer. People mostly hesitate or have anxiety about accidentally upsetting others, so having something there helps! Even if it's just saying you're pretty chill.

Something else helpful is a muse page- people want to know what kind of character that you are writing! For some they will link to a wiki page, and for some they write out a whole bio for their headcanons- For example if you looked in my Volo's bio, you'd see that he's 32, cisgender, albino, and can see through fog. all headcanon stuff that might not appear in every reply i do! For OCs especially there can be a history section detailing their life and who they are!

The other major half is networking. Following RP blogs, making a promo (which you can make visible in tags;; blahblahfandom rp, multifandom rp, crossover rp, etc.) when you find a blog you are interested in, you can reach out! through ims or asks as well. (If your blog is curated enough and has its own dash/account, your sidebar may of course recommend rp blogs! that's about the only algorithm involved. the rest's work. sideblogs notoriously have trouble because they can't Follow people.) Like, I figure a lot of personal blogs find my posts/blog through tumblr's search function- which i'm still not used to because it's the new default, rather than going into the Actual #tag.

a subset of networking is Doing Stuff. Making headcanon posts, in character posts, open starters, and threading with other people will show off your writing enough for people to notice. Some people turn their nose away if a blog 'only' contains 'too much' RP memes, vent posts, or just doesn't have what they're looking for. While it's not a requirement, it may be helpful to make sure you have examples up to see. This part kind of really never ends imo, networking and doing stuff, but it's pretty essential to getting noticed. But like any facet of the internet or world, there's always someone who wants to talk to you! And would love to hear what you have to say! I'm sure that's something that even seasoned rpers might need to hear, everyone gets discouraged sometimes. It only takes a few people getting going to boost you along tho, so! Try to appreciate people! Y'know, socializing and all that, haha.

As far as some etiquette goes, try not carelessly spam-like or reblog. Since the person is writing a story thread, they use their activity to keep track. 'hmmm i wonder if someone replied today?' i ask! i look in my notes! somebody liked this somebody liked this somebody liked this somebody liked this

oh no! where is my post? it can be a little frustrating, so try to keep likes to real time or so, it's much more manageable. People do enjoy likes and feedback, but the first major reason that people block personals is to avoid this kind of thing. In my opinion, it probably doesn't help that it's a wordless interaction, but it depends! If you're not overdoing it, it's delightful, too!

Replies are much more free game imo, it's words as feedback and a bit more enjoyable. (I'll admit a reply on a pinned post is...a first for but hey! this works!)

Asks are enjoyed and adored. Literally as long as it isn't hate, any tumblr user likes getting asks, but RPers are ravenous, lmao. Some may get overwhelmed by their own workload and have to delete em, but socially speaking people love talking about their muses! Or how they as a mun write!

The second reason people block personals is discourse. I'd say the biggest cultural difference, if you are stepping into rp, is to please learn to share. Especially with the onset of Search showing things even mentioning character names. (some people even cen.sor their muse's name to avoid this.) You've probably seen mockey of kin discourse 'no doubles' and etc. Basically, don't be an ass about headcanons and try to respect people's portrayals. RPers would rather write, so many will not deal with the bullshit and their blog is not for arguing. Trust me that when anons or whoever interject in order to be a dick, you become the butt of the joke for that blog's whole audience. Many people love to write threads with duplicates! But even those whose rules say no duplicates as far as interactions go know that it's not nice to insult people and stay in their lane. Be Kind! Ask questions! If you'd like to share a headcanon of your own, the blog owner might like to see it, just don't be pushy and you're good! They might even have their own headcanon even if they disagree with yours and may share that! Everyone's writing is unique and that's the beauty of it! I've personally even had some random personal reply trying to shut down my headcanon/simping in a belittling way, which....i didn't fucking ask. let me have my fun!!! Sooo yea read the room! Have fun!

“What this?” 

Jimin was home finally after a long day of practice, scheduling, and dress fittings. Upon walking back in his comforting home at 12 am, he wasn’t surprised that all the lights were out, knowing that you always slept early. 

But as he dumped his things onto the kitchen counter, taking out his phone as he strolled down the hall, he opened Twitter, only to find a picture of you smiling brightly at the top of his feed.

Jimin squinted, wondering where and when this photo was taken, peeved by how the tweet was only sent 1 hour ago and by… your ex…? 

Jimin clicked the actual tweet, confused and verifying this was the official account of your ex, another idol in the industry who you had befriended and dated for a short while, only to split up by, of course, him. 

His hand opened the bedroom door, ready to find your sleeping figure, but as he pushed it further and further, he realized, you weren’t there. 

He immediately went into a frenzy, running and pounding his feet on the floors as he flung open the front door, hastily sliding on his shoes and immediately speed-dialing your number.

You picked up, the sound of cars passing by as you spoke. “Hello?” 

“Where are you?” Jimin seethed, impatiently stomping his foot as he waited for the godforsaken elevator to reach his floor, the highest one. 

“I’m walking back home, right now. I’ll be there in 5 minutes, why?” You had asked, causing Jimin to sigh in relief, but still simmering in anger.

“Why are you out so late? Why are you with your ex? Didn’t I tell you to tell me where you go? What if something happened to you? I only asked you to just let me know in advance so I don’t worry about you! And you can’t even do that for me?!” Jimin yelled into his phone, clearly pissed off as he tightly clenched his free hand into a fist. 

“I’m sorry…” You whispered, your voice small and timid, scared and upset. “I knew you wouldn’t be happy about it… But he’s still my friend.” You choked up, Jimin noticing how you were on the verge of tears by the way your voice wavered. “I won’t do it again. I’m sorry…” 

“Shh, don’t cry. I’m sorry for yelling and I forgive you, baby. Now, tell me where you are so I can meet up with you, okay? Can you do that for me?” 

“Yeah… I’ll send you my location. See you soon…” 

Taehyung

Taehyung was resting in bed, home after a long day of work as an idol and finally ready to get his good night rest. You shimmied your way through the door, quietly tiptoeing around the apartment to not alert him of where you had been off to. 

Taehyung slept through the quiet sounds of the shower running and the soft sounds of opening the closet and drawers. You quietly joined Taehyung in bed, scooching up to him, hands to his chest as you closed your eyes. 

His breathing was calm and skin as soft as an angel. His locks brushed over his eyes, cascading to his eyelashes as he breathed in and out. But, as you stretched your body, ready to pass out, you accidentally hit his leg, awakening him in a hazy state. 

“Y/n…?” He groaned in a low voice, wrapping his arms around you. “Where were… you?” He mumbled lazily, pulling you closer, his hold on you tight and constricting. 

“I’ll tell you tomorrow, okay Taehyung?” you whispered, closing your eyes as you both fell asleep together. 

Upon the morning sun, you woke up, only to find the other side of the bed empty. It was late, almost noon as you scrambled out of bed and rushing downstairs to see Taehyung. 

“Good morning.” He had smiled, phone in his hand and a glass of juice on the kitchen counter. You took a seat next to him as he continued to scroll through his phone, only for his finger and body to halt rigidly, and then relax. 

“Is something wrong?” You asked, confused at his body language. Taehyung gave you a bright smile, the ones that seemed to make you blush and warm your heart up. 

“Nope! I just remembered how cute you were, y/n. That’s all.” 

He watched diligently as you turned the other way to hide the pink tint in your cheeks to which he smirked internally, a tongue rolling in the inside of his mouth as his thumb almost cracked the screen of his phone. 

It’ll be fine. I’ll see him next week at the music show. I’ll show that stupid guy not to touch things that are clearly mine.

Jungkook

“Didn’t I tell you to say away? Didn’t I?!” 

Sweet, bunny-like, and doe-eyed Jungkook would never show aggression to another person… is what only dumb and naive people thought. 

Jungkook had your ex pinned in a tight corner of the halls in the music station, way before he was needed to be in the makeup chair, coincidentally running into the person he despised so much. 

Your ex was terrified, alone without anyone to call out for help. Your ex was backed into a corner facing a man who had a deadly look to his face, eyes dark and ready to kill. 

“I was nice enough to spare you since you quickly broke up with y/n, but… did I give you permission to hang out with her?” He asked rhetorically, suffocating close. 

Pulling the cuff of your ex’s shirt up, Jungkook looked at him, eye to eye, warning him. “Strike one was dating y/n, strike two, hanging out even though I told you back off. Strike three- and then you’re out.” Jungkook spat, throwing him into the wall and storming off. 

The deadly glare was wiped off his face as he entered the changing rooms, his eyes were even smiling, running up to you from the behind and hugging you. 

“Did you just get here?” He cooed, looking over your shoulder as you absentmindedly played a game on your phone. 

The two of you sat in silence for a while as Jungkook cuddled up to you, your eyes focused on your phone. He pouted, his cheeks puffing up as he huffed. 

“I heard you were hanging with your ex… Is that true?” He asked out of the blue, cocking his head to the side, his eyes wide and creepy as you turned to look at him. 

“You know…” Jungkook continued, trying to keep the sweet smile on his face. “I don’t like it when you do things behind my back.” He dug his sharp nails into your shoulder, voice low and dark, eliciting a flinch from you as you continued to look down. 

He brought his mouth close to your ear, his fingertips sending chills down your body. “You wouldn’t like it if I did things behind your back, now would you?” 

“So don’t. Do. Things. You’ll regret.”
