Being back in the Dragon Age fandom has awakened something long asleep within me, which is a seething deep, feral hatred and disgust for Cullen and dismay at the way everyone in the fandom is head over heels for him. Literally it's as fresh as it was on the first day. Truly, things you feel at 15 years old do not wane.

Me: I will not post random thoughts on Tumblr to strangers. I can keep my opinions to myself.

Also me: Why is everyone so mean to Ben?? How could Obi-Wan have known that Luke would somehow become the first person ever to take a Sith and pull them back to the light side without any amnesia involved? How could he have known that?? Also, he watched Anakin murder children, I don’t think it’s fair to make him out to be the bad guy for not giving Anakin another child.

Also, is the scene on Bespin supposed to be Vader’s turning point? Because sources say he was very evil and bad and more evil, but was Bespin the point when he realized? Like, look at it this way. Anakin almost definitely became desensitized to killing. We see that in the Clone Wars; he has no issue killing people for whatever reason, so it’s clear that he’s become numb to it.

But, Darth Vader is used to people doing whatever they can to stay alive near him. People are afraid of him. They do what he says because he is six and a half feet tall and more machine than man, on top of being someone who can choke someone across a video call. The people who do refuse to do what he says are the rebels, the bad guys, from his perspective.

So when he has Luke cornered, he expects Luke to surrender because he views Luke as his son, which means Luke can’t die. Padme died and that is as much death by his own hands in his own family that Vader is willing to take. Luke has to surrender, because Vader doesn’t want to kill him and there’s no other way out, unless Luke wants to let go of the gantry and fall to his probable death.

And Luke lets go.

In that moment, do you think it hits him? Do you think Vader realizes that his own son is willing to die over being on the same side as him? His son hates him so much, he falls into a bottomless hole just to escape him.

Do you think that’s the moment Vader realizes that Luke is fragile? Luke is human? Luke isn’t just a Jedi, he isn’t just the person who is uncatchable and who blew up the Death Star, he’s a person who can die. And it’s highly likely that Luke will die, from Vader’s perspective. This boy who would rather fall to his death than spend another moment in Vader’s company. If anyone was going to die in this fight, surely it would be the dumbass who flies into traps, knowing full well that they are traps.

Do you think that’s what the scene means? Is that Vader’s turning point? Is that the moment when he feels worry for Luke? Not worry for the Luke in his mind, the power that Luke has, or anything. Just, worry for his son.

Vader was willing to kill millions, billions, or even trillions of people to get to Luke, but Luke is willing to kill himself before being caught. Luke, the one person Vader doesn’t want to die. The one person he figured probably couldn’t die, since he pulls stupid shit all the time and walks away like nothing happened.

Is that the moment where Vader dimmed, just for a second, and became a bit more of Anakin, instead?

How are you feeling about last act of the simulanka quest?

it started off meh because scara made his long-awaited appearance, but i had already anticipated that so i focused on navia and nilou being as wonderful as always

but then we got to the dragon and let me tell you scara is so fucking hilarious in this quest. my guy is genuinely projecting his self-inflicted trauma and issues onto a literal baby (half-self inflicted, dottore did deliver like half the punches there). like- you cannot make this shit up. god i love it, he's so ridiculous, very in-character of him honestly. i guess if nothing else he's rather good at staying consistent with that LMAO

little durin was adorable, and it's always funny to see alice again. these events are always just- don't trust anyone in the hexenzirkel and tbh i approve of that. at least when it comes to alice god but her va is so good it's such a delight to hear her speak always. my girl gets like two voiced scenes per year and makes damn good use of them hahah

overall it was decent! scara's inclusion does keep it from being as good as the first two acts. also do bear in mind that i haven't done the appendix (is that the name for it) yet so idk how the rest shapes up to be

i’m sorry but can we actually discuss the fact that sasuke, even after finding out the truth about itachi, still held his kindness close to him. he looked to hashirama for answers of what it means to be a shinobi, part of a village, after finding out the horrors behind konoha’s role in his parents death. throughout the series naruto has been portrayed as this saint, the kid with a heart of gold, but in reality no one encapsulates that more than sasuke’s character

sometimes i remember the absolute shitshow that was f3 at monza and spa in 2015 and die a little inside. over half that grid are now professional, international racing stars in series like f1, fe, indycar, and yet. and yet. teenage brain prevailed then. absolute fucking carnage.

#everyone talks about monza because the 3rd race was literally STOPPED #by the race director who had lectured the drivers at 12am the previous night for their dangerous driving and inappropriate behaviour #on track that was putting themselves and others at risk #but no one remembers spas own shitshows #a driver takes out another + tatianna calderon who was Literally Just Vibing did absolutely nothing wrong and got crashed into #and then that driver (who was promptly reported to the race director) pushed his broken car IN FRONT OF THE PIT LANE BLOCKING IT (???HELLO)#next lance was fighting for the front with felix and another driver and just #turns on on the two after pushing them to the edge of the track. sending all three of the cars across track/into the barriers #for literally no reason could have gained a position the next lap had he not kamikazed himself #and then started arguing with the other drivers as if they werent victims of his act of terror #AND THEN #for the grand finale #the race is resumed once again #and gustavo is sent rocketing into the air and lands on his roof twice while rolling down the track and off the corner at the end #(pre halo. part of the top of his helmet was ripped off by the impact)#immediate red flag marshalls rush over to the car which has landed upside down #and instead of the normal procedure (propping up/raising the car slightly to allow the driver to crawl out) they righted the car #while he was STILL INSIDE. RISKING MORE NECK/SPINE INJURIES FROM THE IMPACT OF THE CAR HITTING THE TRACK #and i remember the commentator was absolutely LIVID #he'd missed monza and found thay appalling and he did NOT hold back from his criticisms of drivers #causing incidents or putting others in danger and he went IN on those marshalls and honestly i dont blame him for the anger #like fucking hell the standard of driving and general attitude towards your fellow driver was abysmal #and its lucky that after this all the drivers seemed to get it hammered into their heads to be far more careful and considerate #of where they are and what theyre doing on track because they started entering the professional driving field only a few years later #(not to mention the f3 car fucking sucked back then thats a WHOLE other discussion but apt when discussing drivability)#what a shitshow of a season though i'll never forget going through it and being silently horrified/exhausted by SOMETHING during the races #each weekend
