Warren as of 1911 april, 2nd

On march 25th of 1911, a year before the au starts, the triangle shirtwaist factory fire occurred in manhattan a short distance from long island. Over 140 people died in the fire. This was near where Warren is living. He waffled for a while about helping afraid to let anyone see his mutation, before trying to break through a window around back and save people on the 8th floor. He only managed to save about 6 people before his wings caught fire, and all he could do was stand and watch the rest of the disaster unfold. To this day he blames himself, thinking that if he didn’t hesitate to show off his wings, he wouldn’t have gotten burned and could have helped more people get out. but currently he is doing somewhat better, but is still very reclusive right now. One thing that has changed is he’s taken up moonlighting as a super hero, hoping to make up for what he feels was his fault. He still has some triggered reactions to open flames.

When portraying romantic or sexual scenarios involving your OC, do you aim to inspire a particular response in the reader or viewer? Whether a warm fuzzy feeling, or getting really quite turned on (or possibly both)?

Oooh there's no short way for me to answer this sorrynotsorry :D since every scene is written for its own unique purpose, narrative or otherwise. But generally...

There are at least two ways for me to go about it. There are romantic/sex scenes I write as an inextricable part of the story, the same way I write (or gpose) any other dialogue scene to evoke whatever emotion it's aimed at, whether it's fluff or a fun way to provide some exposition with some added spice. Absolutely no reason why we can't have steamy scene that also advance the narrative.

I even have a sort of "relationship phase" roadmap kind of list for our OC relationships, and every phase can be written differently and is meant to evoke different emotions.

Example of different phases:

Tentative / Tumultuous Phase e.g. the Enemies stage of enemies-to-lovers. There's tension. There's discomfort. There's violating boundaries not yet established. There's awkwardness and fumbling and no small amount of aggression. Fun stage :D and absolutely aimed at evoking tension and discomfort (or maybe unlocking a new kink, who knows)

Growth Phase Characters are learning more about each other lore-wise as well as boundary-wise. Or in case of less healthy relationships, how to push each other's buttons even further. Can also help advance the story the most, whether it builds up to bliss or hell.

Bliss Phase Self-explanatory. Usually there's equal amounts of give and take. Or at least they've learned the perfect amount to give and take. All characters involved are having a blast. The honeymoon phase.

Hell Phase Characters probably hitting their respective rock bottoms. Maybe they realize it's not working out. Maybe one of them is already checked out emotionally but can't quite leave. Maybe there's loss of trust or damage they can't get over/address and the relationship is never properly repaired. Breakups, yanno. Haven't personally worked up the courage to portray anything like that in an intimate way..

Balsamic Phase? or end-stage phase. Some sort of denouement they go through that results in a much deeper sense of intimacy and / or closure to their romance and/or sex life. The old married couple phase, perhaps, or parting ways on good terms and staying good friends.

I have lists of bullet points describing how characters feel about each other under every stage. and not all relationships go through all nor necessarily in that order. Bet we can come up with a lot more stages for specific stories too. I'm very normal about this you see.

So that's the narrative-advancing way to go about it for me.

Then, let's be honest, there are pure sexfics that are aimed precisely at getting you off :D both equally fun but written very differently, the former being more dialogue-heavy and not necessarily conclusive, and the latter usually more uh… descriptive and slow-paced. Personally I do like that warm fuzzy feeling in the latter as well. and the not so fuzzy. They can be plugged into any of the above phases. Both are good <3 def love reading both at least personally.
