yes i'm aware i did this yesterday but then @cyraclove had to go and tag me again and now i'm gonna copy @ebongawk and do a mash-up of both words (dance and heart) so here i go 😝 dearthnc it is

D: "do me a favor," wayne said as he swung his cleaver down and severed the fish's head from its body and unceremoniously shoved it off of his cutting board and into a bucket, "go dump this abomination and then forget all about it, kiddo." (dredge au) E: Eddie Munson started working at the theater the same time Chrissy did—all of the employees did, what with the grand opening starting right after school let out and most of them being high school students—but she didn't know about it until towards the end of her first shift, when Eddie strolled right past the ticket booth without even looking at her. (starcourt cineplex au) A: As often as Eddie stares at the retreating forms of cheerleaders, he can't identify this one from her naked back, no matter how badly he wants to. Even her hair isn't that much help, given he can't really tell what color it is when it's wet. (voyeurism 2.0) R: "Ready for the next leg of our intrepid journey?" Eddie asks, distracting her from her own thoughts after clicking her seatbelt into place. (roadtrip au) T: The hours she's spent at cheerleading practice do tend to fly by, but somehow that doesn't seem right for what Eddie's talking about. The only thing that seems sort of close that Chrissy can remember is when she was a child and would spend hours upon hours coloring on any scrap of paper she could get her hands on. (lock-in au) H: He stirs a little once he's on the mattress, rubbing his fist over his face and squirming but ultimately staying fast asleep. Chrissy breathes a slow sigh of relief and watches him for a minute or two before turning away. (married hellcheer one shot) N: Now that she's somewhat acclimated to the temperature inside the building, her multitude of layers are definitely overkill. (jury duty au) C: Chrissy sinks her teeth into her bottom lip and tucks her hands behind her back, digging her nails into the flesh of her wrist. Maybe a little bit of pain will keep her distracted until Eddie's finished talking, prevent her mind from wandering any further down the dark path of temptation. (youth pastor au)

ive been tagged by a few people for wip wednesday/weekend but tbh, none of my wips are catching my interest.

so i've made a poll of all of my wips and will work on the winner for a week after the poll ends. the week after that will be a new poll (omitting the wip i just worked on) and the process will repeat until i've cycled through all of them.

once i've done that, i'll start completely over until all my wips are either complete, or i've got new ideas to work on.

you certainly don't have to do it this way, but i'm hoping this method will get me out of my writing slump

Summary:

Chrissy Cunningham was 20 years old in 1843, and she's been 20 years old ever since. Eddie Munson appears to have it all: the looks, the popularity, the perfect girlfriend in head-cheerleader Jacinda Carver. He's even captain of the basketball team on the verge of a state championship! But somehow he still feels empty and lost. Chrissy wants nothing to do with Captain America, brunet version, but when he finds out her secret, their relationship veers into new, unknown territory. She sees trouble, while Eddie sees a chance at the girl he's wanted from afar for years. The walls she hides behind are high, but Eddie's never been afraid to climb.

“You could always come with us.” He offered with that lopsided smile. “Dale, the guy that owns The Hideout, he’s giving us two RVs for the summer. All we’ve gotta do is fix them up and keep them running and they’re all ours.”

Chrissy scoffed. “What am I going to do in an RV for three months?”

“Come on Cunningham, think about it! Open road every day, parties every night. Great music, good times, me all to yourself.”

“And what would I want that for?”

Eddie’s eye met hers for a moment but he didn’t respond.

“When are you guys leaving anyway?” She asked.

“Day after graduation.” He answered quickly. “Leave Hawkins bright and early, take a three day trip to Colorado. Catch Triumph’s opening show and follow their stops from there.”

“Won’t it get boring seeing the same band’s show night after night?”

“We’ll only be seeing their first one, maybe two or three along the way. After that we just follow and do our own thing until Mayhem in California.” He took a quick drag of his cigarette. “That’s the holy grail. Three days, twelve bands, more metal than you can handle. Figure the rest out as we go.”

“I have cheer camp.”

“Cheer caaamp.” Eddie mocked without malice. “You really want to spend your whole summer there... again?”

Chrissy laughed. She wanted to defend her annual tradition. Cheer was important. Cheer taught discipline. Cheer kept her fit. Cheer was even paying for her to go to college in the Fall...

But Eddie was right.

She didn’t want to go.

In fact, thinking about going back to the same cheer camp with the same cheerleaders and teaching the same routines to a new group of girls had been filling her with dread for weeks. She couldn’t help it and she had tried as hard as she could to move past those feelings or sweep them aside... but she just couldn’t. The girls all looked at her differently now and they had since the moment she had shown up back in Hawkins. She felt like they might be afraid of her, the same way that people had been afraid of Will Byers when he had seemingly come back from the dead, the difference was that she didn’t have a group of friends to lean on that understood what she had been through. Once she had broken things off with Jason she had barely had any friends to stand by her period. Her mother hadn’t raised hell and refused to believe that her child was dead even in the presence of a body. She didn’t have a police chief storming a government lab demanding answers and bringing her back from The Other Hawkins.

But she did have Eddie.

wip wednesday

no you almost forgot, i was thinking about this all day i swear

The further away they get from Hawkins, the more Chrissy seems to relax. Every so often she lets out a slow breath and gets more comfortable in the passenger's seat, drawing Eddie's attention to her every goddamn time. It's almost two in the morning when Eddie looks over and realizes Chrissy's asleep. He's been on the interstate for almost half an hour now, having chosen to go north on 65 towards Chicago instead of south down to Indianapolis, but now he's wondering if maybe he should turn around and head back to Hawkins before it's too late.
