Here is Simone with the most peppers she's ever harvested at once. Petit Marseillais is an heirloom sweet pepper from the South of France. With delicate walls, the mildest hint of heat, and the perfect size for adding to a sauté - it is my favorite sweet pepper. On top of all that, it is extremely prolific. #petitmarseillais #petitmarseillaispeppers #heirloompepper #seedkeeping (at Delaware County, Pennsylvania)

We're a few weeks late, but our heirloom tomatoes and peppers are planted and in the studio! My little helper took her job very seriously, but could have poked holes in the soil for hours. We're craving puddles, mud and sunshine; this winter has been SO LONG! #gardener #heirloomtomatoes #heirloomgardener #startingseeds #readyforspring #heirloompeppers #sensoryseeking #spd #sensoryprocessingdisorder #gardenmn #plantseeds #plantingseeds #growyourownfood #organic #gardeningwithkids #lifeskills #urbanfarmer (at Saint Paul, Minnesota) https://www.instagram.com/p/BvILWR3lWEu/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=12s77td3uguz4

Aji Amarillo flower over a cap full of fruits. I harvest into my hat almost every day. This pepper is native to the Andes and has been called the most important ingredient in Peruvian cuisine as it is the cornerstone to many essential traditional dishes. It is hot, sweet, and fruity. When dried, it is called Aji Mirasol. On the plants, the young fruits start out green, turn yellow, and ripen a fiery orange. #capsicumbaccatum #ajiamarillo #aji #heirloompeppers #peruvianpeppers #seedkeeping (at Delaware County, Pennsylvania)

The Fish Pepper. The white unripe fruit were used to flavor seafood dishes in the Black catering community of Baltimore in the early 1900s. More often than not, the unripe fruit are white and green, like the variegated foliage. Horace Pippin, the now-famed painter, shared this variety (and many others) with H. Ralph Weaver in the early 1940s in exchange for bee-sting therapy. Weaver's grandson (William Woys Weaver) found the seeds in a baby food jar in his grandmother's deep freezer still viable a couple decades later, and many years after his grandfather's death. I love the spicy and sweet flavor of the ripe red fruits and so we make large batches of red fish pepper sauce every year. #fishpepper #capsicumannuum #williamwoysweaver #horacepippin #heirloompeppers (at Delaware County, Pennsylvania)

Peppers! Just added a handful more varieties to the Truelove Seeds website, including these four pepper varieties grown by my dear friend Jonah at Milkweed Farm (@milkweedfarmvt) in Vermont. Pictured here are Buena Mulata and Pippin’s Golden Honey (both African American heirlooms connected to artist Horace Pippin and the Roughwood Seed Collection); Shishito (Jonah’s fave, a Japanese variety from my friends at @kitazawa_seed); and Beaver Dam (an important Hungarian American heirloom on the @slowfood Ark of Taste). Jonah and I grew up in the same town (well neighboring towns - same high school) in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut, and have walked similar paths ever since. We both ended up in the California Bay Area in similar queer and farming communities. Later, we were both transformed by our experiences working back home at Tobacco Road Farm (another Truelove Seeds grower) in Lebanon, CT that uses chemical-free, no-till, natural farming methods with deep care for life of the soil. Jonah is the primary filmmaker behind Out Here: a Queer Farmer Film Project (@queerfarmer). Please support his work and order his peppers! I’ll be adding more varieties grown by him and dozens more growers over the next few weeks. See www.trueloveseeds.com for the histories of these four peppers. #trueloveseeds #seedkeeping #buenamulata #pippinsgoldenhoney #shishito #shishitopeppers #beaverdampepper #capsicumannuum #heirloompeppers
