i watched a snippet from The Glory where it's revealed that *SPOILER* hot dad's daughter is not biologically his but he continues to love and raise her like his own despite knowing this. it made me think of a TDJ au where elijah is not isaac's daughter.
her mother heejin wasn't religious. after she gets knocked up and her boyfriend leaves, she meets isaac at a social service type thing hosted by the church. they fall in love, she partly because he's good dad material. they have a shotgun wedding. she becomes devout to protect her cover and because she believes in fate now, having come across someone like isaac. they have elijah a few weeks too early but she's small for her age so no one suspects a thing.
yohan finds out after the fire. elijah needs a transfusion but her blood type doesn't match with his or isaac's. maybe it has a marker that's passed down from fathers so it's v obvious isaac is not hers.
he gets his niece a transfusion but yohan doesn't know what to do. did isaac know? he loved elijah with all his heart but he was naive and led by his emotions. yohan can give elijah a good life as his own child but can he accept her as isaac's daughter? he's so possessive of isaac that he honestly doesn't know.
it's only several weeks later when he's hunting down the SRF and he finds the man who has a tape of the fire that he knows. he knows because he reacts instinctively, threatening the man and his mother and his mother's first degree and second degree relatives if the man so much as hints at what he knows.
walking away with the only physical copy of the tape with him, yohan realizes that he's made his decision.
isaac's last words when passing over his beloved daughter were protect her. so that's what what yohan's going to do.
and then you get a flashback that suggests isaac did know. i haven't decided how gaon comes into all this and how he acts once he finds out but i like the idea of yohan protecting elijah from two secrets that could fundamentally destabilize her sense of self. changing this detail would add another layer to yohan's protectiveness over her, paranoid that she'll find out.

Hi
Star: Jeon Heejin (Loona)
Idea: No
“All it takes is one moment, and I’m already there.”
Tumblr media
You peered at your friends, watching them play around. Pushing each other playfully, trying to compete and see who could remain standing. Seated on the table, you were eating your food peacefully, having a laugh with your friends when they would call for your attention.
They made sure to call you, including you in their conversation so everyone could have fun. Though as you took a bite out of the french fry, your phone vibrated to the side, indicating a notification when the bright screen lit up.
Opening the device, a tender smile grew on your lips when you saw the name of which the message had belonged to.
Heeki💕
Hey, are you busy?
Your smile was contagious, almost radiating some type of energy that your friends could only describe as; “love struck.”
Me
Hey to you too. I’m out with some friends. Is there anything wrong?
You noticed the lack of response, the three dots jumping up and down repeatedly before she eventually responded.
Heeki💕
Oh...okay. Have fun with your friends. I’ll talk to you later?
Furrowing your eyebrows, you quickly typed out a response. Keeping your girlfriend with you on the phone.
Me
Hey, you know you can tell me anything. It’s okay, they’ll understand. You’re always my first priority.
Heeki💕
Aigoo, is my girlfriend always this cheesy? Stop it, you’re making me red!
A small chuckle escaped your lips, taking the attention of your friends who stole a glance. Teasing smiles on their faces when they noticed the familiar look on your features.
Heeki💕
I just...miss you is all. But since you’re hanging out with friends, we can talk later. I don’t want to disturb you guys.
You switched off your phone. Glancing at your friends who were already looking at you. There was a twinkle in your eyes, which they all seemed to understand, glancing at each other before throwing you a smile.
The silent conversation led to you gathering your things, standing up to give your friends a thankful smile. Closing your eyes, you took a deep breath, focusing on one person before a smile bloomed on your lips.
You felt a breeze against your skin, a sudden warmth flowing through your body until a gasp echoed in your ears. Opening your eyes, you smiled at the girl sitting up on the bed. Clad in nothing but a comfortable hoodie, more specifically, your hoodie.
Heejin jumped up and ran into your arms, burying her face in the crook of your neck. You were able to catch her, a bright smile on your face as you wrapped your arms around her waist, nuzzling the side of her head suddenly feeling a familiar warmth filling your chest.
Your girlfriend embraced you tightly, not believing that she was holding you. However, she pulled away when recalling the conversation you had seconds ago. “I thought you were hanging out with your friends? Don’t tell me you-“
Leaning forward, you effectively halted Heejin’s words with a kiss, rendering her speechless as her arms circled your neck. Your arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her impossibly closer, eliminating all the space between both of you.
When Heejin had to pull away, she rested her forehead on yours, sighing because of the tingling sensations that her skin felt. Her lips felt like it was burning, but it was a good kind. Filled with love and happiness.
Her question was long gone when both of you ended up on the bed, cuddling under the warm sheets while resting in silence. You had a change of wardrobe, now clad in an oversized shirt your girlfriend owned.
“How was your hunt today?” You spoke after a while, wrapping your hand around her shoulder, caressing the soft skin. The skin ship earned a delighted hum from your girlfriend, a satisfied sigh leaving her lips.
It took her a few minutes to respond, though you weren’t expecting an answer because much like Heejin, the position you were in made you melt. The soft and domestic qualities, aided your comfort.
“It went well, I still beat all of them.” She raised her head to look at you, a small twinkle in her eyes as you reached to rub her head. “That’s my girl. So does this mean that we can have our duel again soon?” You wiggled your eyebrows, earning a pout before she gave you a playful punch on your shoulder.
She scoffed, “As if I can beat you and your little lightshow. That’s basically like asking a dog to beat a magician, it’s impossible!” You laughed at her comparison, pointing your finger out as a colorful light emitted, making tiny fireworks in front of you, enjoying the small pout that she wore before returning to her previous position.
“But this magician can easily lose to said dog.” There was a brief silence, followed by your girlfriend humming, deciding to agree to your proposition. “We’ll see.” Is all she said, the comfortable silence returning.
The next couple of hours was spent cuddling. Heejin resting her head on your chest, while throughout each hour, both of you would switch positions. You were resting your head on her shoulder, almost a purr-like sound leaving your lips.
It felt warm being in her embrace. Almost comparable to a cozy winter night in front of a fireplace. Feeling the warm sensation spreading through your body. It was impossible not to feel drowsy, and as you were teetering on the edge of sleep, a warm kiss on your lips made you open your eyes.
“I’m sorry.” There was a shy smile on her face, a blush rising on her cheeks before she leaned to peck you on the forehead, rubbing your cheeks soothingly to ease you back to sleep. But instead, you placed your hand on top of hers, closing your eyes and turning your face to kiss her palm.
“It’s okay.” You whispered softly, nuzzling yourself under her chin. “I missed you...so much.” Heejin felt the vibrations of your chuckle. She closes her eyes in content.
“Didn’t we see each other two days ago?” You asked, voice turning into a whisper. “But that’s still days without cuddling you.” She replied, giggling shyly, you could imagine the blush on her cheeks. Heejin leaned down to press another kiss, causing you to melt further in her arms.
“All it takes is one moment, call for me, and I’m already there.” You feel your girlfriend hug you tighter, almost as if she’s giving a silent thank you. “I miss you too.” You reply after a while, letting the comfortable silence surround both of you. Slowly succumbing to the drowsiness until eventually, soft sighs escaped your lips. Heejin following soon after.
When you wake the next morning, you opened your eyes groggily, whining as the light from your window shone in your eyes. You didn’t notice Heejin staring at you, a cute smile on her face as she watched you wake up.
You buried your face deeper into the pillow, enjoying the cool feel of the covers before feeling a sudden warmth on the tip of your nose. Cracking your eyes open, Heejin’s bright smile slowly comes into view, the crinkle of her eyes and nose made you mirror her smile.
Then she suddenly leaned forward, capturing your lips in a tender kiss. You were a bit startled but quick to respond, closing your eyes and embracing her close. When you had to pull away, shy giggles were exchanged, leaning against each others foreheads.
"Hi."
It was a good start to a good day.

“You must understand why it can’t be done, father.” Mingi sat across from Lord Song, eyes wide and frantic. “Marry her off to anyone else but him.”
“Am I promised, already?” Heejin stood in the doorway to the parlor, followed by a maid with a tray of tea that had been prepared for the noble family. “I’ve not been properly introduced to society, father. Who could possibly want my hand?”
“A very wealthy lord has sent us a letter. His son, and the heir to his entire fortune, has seen you attending marriage courses and is taken with you.” Lord Song gestured for her to sit at the side of the table so the two men could speak. “Your brother has his reservations.” It was an odd notion, for a brother to have any say in the affairs of his sister’s match if the father was still alive. As he was not the man of the house, his opinion shouldn’t hold much sway - if any at all. And while Heejin legally had no say, her family knew better than to force her into a match. Or at least it had seemed that way until today. “You are not promised yet but we will let the boy court you and see where it leads.”
“Who is he? Have I met him? Is he handsome?”
All of her questions were dizzying. Mingi couldn’t understand why on earth their father would allow the two to even speak. After all, it was Lord Kim that ordered her entire household to be killed when she was a baby. And Heejin, still naive to her true past, would be in terrible danger if the man realized she had lived. But not only her; they’d hunt down her biological brother and investigate to find whoever it was that saved them, leading them to the Song family and having their entire household killed as well. “He’s a toad, sister. And not worth your time.”
“Oh, he can’t be all that bad.” Heejin poured the tea and waited for her father and brother to take sips before she even dared to look at her cup. “When am I supposed to meet this suitor?”
“After the adult ceremony to introduce you to society with the other young ladies.”
“Yes, father.” Her head swam with the possibilities. Which young noble could it possibly be? There were so many looking for wives. “Well, I must go. I can’t keep the other ladies waiting.” She dismissed herself and bowed politely, leaving with her maids who donned a trunk filled with everything she needed for the ceremony that night. They went to the school where young ladies were taught everything from how to read and write, to the fine arts, to how to be a good wife and mother.
All the young ladies had agreed to meet at the school to prepare together and gossip about any possible suitors that may present themselves to them. “I heard Miss Lee had a few nobles with their eyes on her.” Heejin’s hair was brushed and a single ornament was placed to keep some hair off of her face. The young lady despised the tradition of being as opulent as one could afford for these events. While her father had suggested a more intricately embroidered dress or a brighter rouge for her cheeks, Heejin chose to be natural. If a man was to be a good husband to her, he had to find her beautiful without being blinded by jewels and gold.
Finally, the sun began to go down and the ladies all filed into the event hall, surrounded by nobles and their wives as well as any eligible sons they may have. The ceremony began with a long musical performance that told the tale of a perfect young lady who met a perfect young noble. The two despised each other at first but learned to love each other after marrying and having perfect children. Then a shaman came to bless the young ladies and officially present them by name and family for all to admire.
Once the ceremony ended, it was time for the tradition where young nobles could approach the young ladies and get to know them.
“Miss Song, is it?” Heejin turned as soon as she was addressed. “My father wrote to your father. I would like to get to know you; your likes and dislikes, what sort of life you’d enjoy, your passions.”
“Kim Hongjoong. I had no idea you would be my first suitor. You went to the academy with my brother, yes?”
“Yes. He never did like me very much but I’m sure he could learn to accept me if you were to return my interest.”
On their way home, Heejin’s head maid spoke up. “Any suitors tonight, miss?”
There were a few. The Young Lord Seo Changbin was too direct, Lee Jihoon was too short and Yoo Kihyun was too old for her taste. But, by far, the Young Lord Kim Hongjoong had certainly captured her attention. He seemed kind, considerate, and intelligent. Not to mention that he was taller than her, handsome, and only two years older.
Her family had gone home before her so she rushed to the parlor to report how well it had gone for her but she stopped in her tracks when she heard her father and brother at it again.
“Father, if Lord Kim were to find out her true identity, we’d all be in very real danger. You do understand that, right? Yoo Kihyun is nearing an age where he’ll marry quickly. Push the two together and Hongjoong will surely yield.”
“If Hongjoong were to fall in love with her, he’d protect her from his father regardless of who she is.” Lord Song watched as his son stood, a displeased frown plain on his face. “I know you believe she deserves the truth. But if we don’t tell her, no one will ever find out. She’s safer if she doesn’t know we aren’t her true family.”
“Big if’s…” Just then, Mingi opened the door, meeting Heejin’s glossy eyes. His face went pale, mouth quickly becoming dry. “Heejin-”
“If you aren’t my true family, then who is? And who am I that Lord Kim should want to kill me?” She shoved past Mingi and to the man she had believed to be her father, too frightened and upset to be graceful. “How much of my life has been a lie?”
“Sit down, Heejin. I have many things to tell you.”

"Gyuri, what who was that?" Heejin peered over Gyuri's shoulder at her phone.
"I-It was Yunho. It's nothing, don't worry about it.
Heejin rested her hands on her hips with a huff.
"Yeah right, I can hear it in your voice. What happened."
Gyuri went pale. Heejin was an adult now. She should know about these things, right? She was definitely not going to tell her that.
"They... they found a body in the park."
• a day later •
Chan peered over at Yunho who was fidgeting with his hands on the locker room bench. His eyes were trained on seemingly nothing.
"I'm sorry that you had to witness something like that so early in your career."
"That... her life was just starting man! How could someone kill someone so young?! I heard she was accepted into an ivy league school." His eyes were wide, his mind was putting all of the pieces together for the first time.
"God- I don't want to think about this right now." He hands flew to his head, clutching his chocolate locks. He clenched his eyes shut. Chan paced towards him and rested his hand on his shoulder.
"You shouldn't, so maybe stop. It'll make your job a thousand times easier." He patted his shoulder twice before walking towards the exit.
"You're making it sound so easy."
"I told you to prepare yourself for this job, didn't I?" Chan turned to look at Yunho, his elder brother mode turned on. Yunho pushes himself up from his seat.
"But weren't you also the person who told me heinous crimes like that haven't happened around here for almost two decades? And not to worry too much about it? So sorry for being shocked and trying to vent." Yunho plopped back down onto the bench, pulling his uniform shirt fully on.
Chan decided to leave it there. Mostly because he didn't have any rebuttals for that. He wouldn't admit that, though.
"Before I leave, how did Gyuri react? I didn't see her yesterday."
"Great. Another thing I'm stressing about. She completely freaked out. The girl who died reminded her too much of Heejin. It's been really hard because Heejin just turned 18 so she wants her freedom but then that happened. Gyuri is hovering over her constantly and Heejin hates it."
Chan sat there for a moment. That's really unlike Gyuri. Maybe he'd check up on her.
"Just a heads up, I'm dropping by tomorrow."
• tomorrow •
"I'm running a little late but you wanna come with, mom?" Chan buttoned up his shirt as he asked.
"No I'm fine honey-" She was interrupted by her phone ringing.
"Oh look! That's Yunho now!" She picked the phone up eagerly.
"Yunho! H- wait, slow down. Yeah he's right here. What's wrong? Yunho... honey are you crying?"
Chan watched in confusion as his mother's clamped over her mouth.
"Oh god no, please no." Her voice quivered as she dropped the phone.
"My baby! Not my baby!" She slid off the couch, sobbing into her hand.
p r e s e n t  d a y
The houses in the town were so damn cute to you. All quaint and small. Chan's was a bit fancier and bigger, being a hotshot policeman and all.
"Out with it. You're here for something, what is it?"
"My papa's hat. He dropped it at the crime scene like an idiot. He takes a break for a couple years and makes a rookie mistake, what a dumbass. His DNA is all over it. You're gonna help me find it."
"Why me?" Chan looked annoyed, not threatened or frightened in the slightest. This in turn made you annoyed.
"You're real brave, huh detective? Didn't girly tell you about the things I'm capable of?"
"Stop dancing around the subject and answer my question!"
"The answer to your question is the same reason you shouldn't be so smug. You're very valuable to not only your police people but everyone around here. We get you, we get everyone. Also, you've got the most to lose. Just how many people in this neighborhood alone are you close to? Family? Childhood friends?"
Chan couldn't lie, he was feeling a bit more cautious. He couldn't feel scared by you, though. He just felt revolted and a strong hatred for you. The things you've done are unspeakable, and one of the people were close to him. Chan laughed before whipping out his gun.
"You're just as much of a dumbass as your "papa". You follow a policeman into his home and threaten him?" He cocks the pistol, eyes boring into the female.
"Go ahead! Shoot me! Just know if you miss you'll regret it. It'll be messy just like the other two."
Chan was angry but hesitant. He was confident in his aim, but he didn't know how good you were at dodging. Plus you were a good distance away. The noise would rile up the neighborhood. His boss had told him time and time again about how the last thing he wanted was to worry the citizens. That's why he didn't release the eyewitness report (against everyone else's opinion).
So when you reached for your purse, he didn't shoot.
"Look, I have a gun too."
Chan tensed up, keeping his gun aimed at you.
"Don't worry pretty boy," you place the gun on the ground and slide it towards him with your foot.
"No funny business, I swear. I'm not here to do any harm. Just get me the hat and I'll be on my way."
Chan didn't believe you for one second. For now, however, the best thing to do would be to lower the gun. So he did.
His ear began to ring, everything seemed to be going in slow motion as he set the gun on the table. He felt like he made a mistake. Did you best him? Did he let his guard down too easily? He thought so.
He raised the gun back up at you.
"Put both your hands in the air and walk towards me slowly."
You stood there shocked for a brief moment. Your expression melted into a sly grin as you raised up your hands. You did as he said, planting yourself firmly three feet away from him. He rustled through your bag to discover a dart gun and hunting knife.
"Is hunting a crime?" You smirked.
He almost replied with "hunting humans is" but then it reminded him who exactly he was dealing with. The crime scenes flooded back into his mind and he grimaced.
"Come on, nothing? I think that was pretty funny-"
"What was the tranquilizer gun for?" He asked, setting down the knife to pick up the gun. He looked down at it in his hands, turning it, inspecting the weapon.
"...I thought it'd be obvious. You were meant to be in my trunk by tonight, unconscious obviously. I was really betting on your cop-like good will to come through and trust me. They train you better than I thought.”
Rage flooded through Chan's veins as he thought about how cruel and disgusting you were. You noticed how he looked at you.
The proximity was perfect now.
"It's not lethal, geez-"
-Was he needed to hear before pointing the tranquilizer gun at you.
"You don't want to do that."
Chan hated to admit that he enjoyed the panicked look on your face.
"How does it feel, being prey now?"
You didn't get a chance to respond before he pulled the trigger. The dart punctured your neck. You grab the dart and remove it but it's too late. Your legs are weak, vision doubled. You try to get close to Chan but he just backs away, giving you the room you need to fall to the ground.
Tumblr media
It was painfully obvious Yunho was concerned.
"Yunho, you're looking at me like that again." Gyuri chuckled, eyes crinkling. She picked at the food on her olive-colored ceramic plate. She didn't want to look at him.
"I don't believe that you're okay. This act you're putting up is only making me and everyone around us worried."
Gyuri looked up at him, he hadn't touched his food either. The yellow light omitting from the aged glass chandelier washed out Yunho's complexion. It made his disapproving look even harder to look at.
"Look, it's been a month now. I love Heejin with all my being-" Gyuri started to get choked up. She tilted her head back, trying to blink her tears away. The tears ended up streaming down her cheeks anyway. She quickly wiped them away before resuming,
"but I'm pretty she nor anyone else would want anyone to dwell on this. I don't like the way my heart aches when I do. Being happy is just so much easier than feeling that way. Why can't you just accept that?"
"Because you're not actually happy. Gyuri, this is not going to be easy. It's going to be a painful, long, excruciating experience." Yunho looked Gyuri dead in her eyes as he attempted to rip off the bandaid.
Gyuri couldn't contain it anymore. She began sobbing uncontrollably.
"Why? I didn't want to think about that goddammit!" She banged her fists on the table, shaking both their plates.
"I feel like I'm gonna die without her! It hurts so bad and I just want it to end!" Gyuri broke down, hiccuping and clenching her fists tightly. Yunho stood from his seat and kneeled next to Gyuri. He rested his hands on her fists.
"It will end on its own. I want you to know that I'll be right there with you every step of the way. We'll get through this together."
Gyuri engulfed him in her arms, sobbing into his shoulder. Yunho held her back tenderly.
He stayed there with her for what felt like an eternity. He didn't feel troubled in anyway, in fact he felt empowered that he had the ability to help her through this.
Her sobs dissipated into lone hiccups here and there.
"Come on. Let's call it a night, baby." He rubbed circles into her back.
