Hangman AU thing

Jake loves planes. Jake loves to fly. But the biggest problem is that he is homeless.

He always wanted to become a pilot, but as he grew older, life took a different turn and he ended up living in the streets. He moved places until he ended up here, hidden in his makeshift home not too far away from some airbase.

He longed for his dream. Jake would just lie down and watch planes taking off and landing. He imagined himself in the place of the pilots, what it would feel like to fly until hunger would get to him. Then he would go out of his hiding place wandering the streets of a town, not quite begging for change or food. He knew where they were kind enough to have a charity center.

But on this particularly hot day he went out to see the beach. Maybe a little away from the public. Jake knew that there was a bar there and pilots liked it. He saw them before. He was busy in the water trying to wash dirt off himself when he saw a bunch of men and a woman playing on the beach.

He watched them having fun he knew he would never have. Jake went out of the water and dressed himself behind the rocks. Then he sat on the sand nearby watching them playing. Jake felt hot and dizzy under the sun. He turned away from them. He was alone. He missed the ghost of normal life he had before. When the headache began Jake thought it was because he wanted to cry but didn't want to lose his face entirely.

Then something landed close to him and he jumped with a start. Someone threw the ball so hard it flew so close to Jake. A guy with mustache ran to him and grabbed the ball.

"Hey, you okay there? We didn't hit you or something?", the man asked.

Jake stared at him for a second before muttering "no, I'm fine."

The man walked away. Jake was watching him go away. People have been reluctant to come close to him. God, he probably reeked salt water and dirt and probably looked disgusting anyway. Jake was confused at this man who wasn't even making fun of him or wrinkling his nose.

Jake closed his eyes imagining himself playing with them.
