okay there are a lot of things that im excited for in season 3 of heartstopper for both film brain reasons and fandom reasons so lets just get to it:
in a recent interview with jenny and joe, joe mentioned how he and georgina (who plays jane) got to improvise their argument scenes and i quote: "if you can’t hear us speaking, we’re just saying the most horrible and rude things to each other that could never be in Heartstopper" so that means in my mind that a lot of scene such as the this winter argument are going to be either under the same general umbrella OR a completely different interpretation of the argument in the book which im psyched for
just the casting of so. many. family members. for episode 5
if theyre gonna do the split perspectives like the journal entries in episode 4! i can def get how that could be difficult but with the talk from alice about how special 4 is, i think it might be cool to see an unseen format for this particular section of the story
how they handle elle being at a different school after finally getting into a relationship with tao
WHATS THE VIBE GONNA BE AT NICKS BIRTHDAY cuz we know what happens after so are we gonna see that tension leading up or not? especially since we have other characters in the mix now
how will they tie the jack maddox minicomic to the seasons plot? i think its happening in episode 7 or 6 by my guess but either way we will SEE!
back to the topic of the journal entries, since the timeline goes "episode 4 nicks pov/charlies, episdoe 5 no main pov, episode 6 charlies pov w therapy and all that", will they shift around events or move where the voiceover happens specifically?
not even a question I AM SO HYPED FOR THE CHANGE IN CAMERA DIRECTION THANKS TO ANDY NEWBURY ill make another post about this but in a phrase i mean his choice of focusing on the performances through simplistic shots
just andy newburys direction in general! i think it was a good call to bring in someone with more knowledge on directing more serious stuff such as season 3, and you can tell the tone shift is done really well!
how theyll handle issac and james' relationship now that the ship has sailed! will they stay friends, will it be awkward?
new! animation! things! i say this bc last season they got more confident by doing new animation tactics that werent straight from the comics, so im interested in what theyll try out this time
just seeing nick and charlie as a fully realized couple, theyve gotten past the being out in public now, so although they are still changing as characters, the relationship doesnt feel as "new" anymore (that is ofc before they start boinking"
where are the f bombs going to be? like which ones are they choosing bc they cant have too many so they have to pick and choose wisely
tao becoming a film bro because that is very personal for me specifically
im sure ill add more but this is what we've got so far FJLKDSLD

2 things I don't get in heartstopper
First, I absolutely love the graphic novels and the show, the vibe, the community around it, and I think Alice is a very talented storyteller who obviously creates stories that make many queer and supportive people feel seen across generations. But there are two things I am missing in the plot to make the storyline cohesive.
First of all, Tara and Darcy's background story. I know there was a minicomic showing how they got locked in the practice room and ended up kissing, and as far as I remember, it described Tara disliking Dary for her loud, quircky, annoying personality (haven't read this in a while so my memory might as well be inaccurate) and suggesting a sort of enemies to lovers trope. They got into this game where one of them wanted to return a pen to the other and ended up fooling around with it, wanting to draw on each other, and then they kissed. To me, that was just way to little information to explain how they got into their relationship. While the graphic novel is a lot more focused on Nick and Charlie, I think the series could have given the space for them to properly narrate a relationship between the two that actually makes sense.
Secondly (and this only really applies to the show), dramaturgically it doesn't make sense to me how after Nick walks away from the rugby field on sportsday, taking charlies hand to tell him he doesn't want to break up and them kissing in the corridor the series doesn't show people gossiping about them. The world that the series models for them, where even though they are physically close with each other in school (not in a romantically affectionate way, but still), and they still largely come out on their own terms (of course the hickey made it more complicated and probably pushed Nick to come out during Taras birthday party), is just not realistic in my opinion. Alice, Kit and Joe have mentioned in many interviews that the series aims to portrait real life struggles and difficult topics through an optimistic lense which I do think overall is a very much needed approach. However, in the coming-out plotline which is a big theme of the second season, to me this idea is played out a bit too unrealistic.
So this turned out way longer than I aimed. Thanks for reading, I would love to discuss these points with you!

Did you end up listening to the peach prc song loved you before id love to know your thoughts
Tumblr media
its giving “i will find you in any world phil” from their fortnite video
i can see why you get dnp vibes from this song, but its honestly giving me verryyyy much heartstopper vibes with all the au minicomics and the happier tune
Tumblr media
it’s a very cute song, but if i’m giving you a REALL review it is not my favorite. i much prefer angsty guitar songs and it’s just too wholesome for me. don’t hate me PLEASE but i think taylor swift does the same concept better with her song, timeless

Literatura y comics: La saga “Heartstopper”
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Heartstopper para colorear (The Heartstopper Colouring Book, 2020):
Tumblr media
Nick y Charlie (Nick and Charlie, 2020):
Tumblr media
Heartstopper El anuario (The Heartstopper Yearbook, 2022):
Sencillamente Imprescindible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heartstopper 1 (Heartstopper Volume 1, 2022)

Okay so after finding out that Heartstopper was originally a comic series and my library has it. So guess what I’ve been reading?
..I was not prepared for the little in-future comic about future-Nick cutting future-Charlie’s hair.
And by not prepared, I mean I was very unprepared for Nick with a beard.
I really like guys with beards.
This killed me.

i am thinking about the emphasis on platonic relationships and love in alice oseman's novels.
you have solitaire, where the tagline is literally "this is not a love story."
there's radio silence, with the incredible relationship between frances and aled PLUS frances slowly opening her social circle to others such as raine and daniel. honestly i could talk about frances' journey there for hours. maybe i will sometime.
then you have i was born for this with angel and juliet meeting after being internet friends, plus the playing around with the difference between being a fan of a group and only seeing their personas that they share with the would vs knowing them personally.
and, of course, there's loveless, which doesn't only detail georgia's journey with discovering that she's aro-ace, but also places so much emphasis on the platonic relationships in her life. i haven't stopped thinking about the conversation that she had with rooney asking georgia to be her special person which i just reread and it made me cry. and the whole "your song" grand gesture where georgia asked pip to be her college wife and just pip, georgia, and jason's friendship in general.
even heartstopper! which is probably the only book in the osemanverse that is actually considered to be a love story in the romantic form of the word. the webcomic is about nick and charlie's relationship, but it's even more than that with the paris squad — which is the reason why volume three is my favorite so far. they were all there for nick when charlie wasn't doing well and the whole gang have such a great dynamic. even with minicomics, we see that they never lose touch into adulthood! they still have group chats where they talk about dogs and charlie's new haircut and everything. in a recent virtual panel with adiba jaigirdar and alice, somebody asked a question about friendships in high school and their books. one of them (i can't remember who) mentioned that friendships in high school are often friendships of convenience, but they still matter then. and we see that with heartstopper, they all still keep in touch, which is really reassuring to see as someone who is about to leave their hometown for college.
anyway! i kind of lost the thread, but my point is, platonic relationships in alice's books!

Oliver Spring, younger brother of Tori and Charlie, the most pure ray of sunshine in the entire series (in my opinion), and tractor enthusiast.
I’m quite proud of this one. The colors I used for the top and bottom bars were from the cover of the ebook novella This Winter. The yellow clothing’s palette is from Oliver’s brief appearance in the Heartstopper minicomic “Moments.”
