          ❝     you — you’re  going  to hurt  me  ?     ❞   her  tail  flaps  a  little  against  the  shallow  water  ,  showing  its  protest  and  fear  that’s  ran  under  her  tone  as  she  throws  her  voice  out  .  sailors  ,  were  one  thing  —  her  father  had  been  a  sailor  her  whole  life  ;  but  pirates  ...  now ,  those  were  the  one  who  grandfather  has  incessantly  warned  her  about  .    ❝     i  —  i  will  hurt  y - you  back  !     ❞     she  can’t  ;  she’s   a  mermaid  ,  not  a  siren  ,  but  no  mortal  human  has  ever  been  able  to  distinguish  those  before  .  melody  hopes  this  one  isn’t  an  exception .
