beat dragon quest iv on the DS as well as its postgame final final boss and its like. hard to recommend not because its dated or poorly aged or anything, moreso its just kinda. Slow like it takes about 18 hours to get to a point you can properly play with the party building stuff. and also the strongest part is the character dialogue which u need to download a ROM patch to put into the game lol. but if u are into a silly simple rpg that also originated a lot of ideas and themes games today still utilise its worth playing imo

Mr. Ichimura has worked on several beloved DQ games as producer, titles such as "Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King", "Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies", or "Dragon Quest of the Stars". His last work at Square Enix will be "Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai: Infinity Strash", which is planned for release worldwide in fall 2023.

Oh my god, I forgot this is the game with the flying bed. Let's take that bad boy for a spin!

Yes Carver, we (and all of the Japanese CarverxRek bara fanartists) know.

I do like the bond of friendship among the party (as revealed by the party chat) in these games. However, in this installment it's greatly hindered by the main trio of Rek, Carver, and Milly not remembering how they initially became friends. Wait, why doesn't the restored Carver not simply tell the other two who they are? Anyway, I love when the party members actually talk to and about each other, but that requires coding If statements, so they mostly just comment on their surroundings. Carver actually shows affection for Rek at least, so it's easy to see why fans enjoy their relationship. Well, I haven't heard from Milly, Ashlynn, or Goowain much, but I like my current party composition!

Another beautiful battle setting. I hated climbing those cliffs at Destiny's Drop for the quest, but later I went back just to train against the monsters there lol.

We delivered the crag of courage to Matthew's grieving parents... to gain access to his flying bed. This quest is a tearjerker, but I was expecting more of a payoff in the dream world.

Then it was time to do some exploring with the flying bed! We reached the town of Dullerton. I love to say "the bad old days."

Next, off to Castle Swanstone to see the mysterious princess in the mirror!

THE WHOLE GAME IS LIKE AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE VERSION OF DRAGON QUEST 4 (1990) . HEALIE WAS A TALKING HEALSLIME IN THAT GAME AND A FRIEND OF ONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS. THIS HUMAN APPEARANCE IS NEW.

AKIRA TORIYAMA ACTED AS THE CHARACTER DESIGNER FOR THE DRAGON QUEST SERIES.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 Lines I Like (Part 1)

Malroth: "Still, facial hair felonies aside, he's got a point."

Malroth: "Look at your pastor-- [referring to the Magus (Pastor Al) who oversees Furrowfield] he's dressed like someone's grandmother!"

Britney: "The Children of Hargon can do one. From now on, I'm all about the BUILDren of Hargon! Haw haw haw!"

Britney: "It's gonna be so much fun telling those weirdos in their stuffy old robes where they can stick their stupid rules!" *and then after Pastor Al threatens violence at such a comment* "Waaah! It's a stuffy-robed weirdo!"

Britney: "Any time you invent a new weapon, you should whack some up and give them to everyone who can swing them! Then everyone who's like 'Oh no! The monsters are too tough!' will be like 'Oh yeah! Tough luck, monsters!'! Haw haw haw!"

Bonanzo in response: "You... But... Agh! He barges in out of nowhere, completely uninvited...and worst of all--he's right!"

Pastor Al: "Any leader worth following is chosen not by the bushiness of his beard, but by those he would lead." (Some very sage advice, PA should be a professional speech writer haha)

Malroth after being called a killjoy for not wanting to dress up for the harvest festival: "Be careful what you call me, Perry, or I'll show you joy's not the only thing I can kill!"
