THIS APPEARANCE IS FROM THE RECENT GAME "DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS: THE DARK PRINCE" ON THE NINTENDO SWITCH (2023).
THE WHOLE GAME IS LIKE AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE VERSION OF DRAGON QUEST 4 (1990) . HEALIE WAS A TALKING HEALSLIME IN THAT GAME AND A FRIEND OF ONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS. THIS HUMAN APPEARANCE IS NEW.
AKIRA TORIYAMA ACTED AS THE CHARACTER DESIGNER FOR THE DRAGON QUEST SERIES.
So, what’s your opinion on Healie’s new canon human appearance in Dragon Quest?
What do you mean "new appearance" is he like a recurring character. Is there a new dragon quest coming out or something the roman number scare man and I don't know which is wh

#Anyway what game is he in so I can stop everything to play it#mlarayoukasks#Is this a toriyama design#Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince on Nintendo Switch#he's just a cameo really#but you can see him transform as part of the main story#and then he stays in one spot but has dialogue that changes after certain events happen in game#healie the healslime

beat dragon quest iv on the DS as well as its postgame final final boss and its like. hard to recommend not because its dated or poorly aged or anything, moreso its just kinda. Slow like it takes about 18 hours to get to a point you can properly play with the party building stuff. and also the strongest part is the character dialogue which u need to download a ROM patch to put into the game lol. but if u are into a silly simple rpg that also originated a lot of ideas and themes games today still utilise its worth playing imo
#i got dq brained because of the new monsters game announced and wanted to know what psaro's deal was lol#its a good game tho. like all the characters are very charming u Need the party dialogue patch otherwise almost all the charm is gone#its also a cool structure like. if ur new to rpgs the chapters are like clever tutorials teaching u how the mechanics work in a natural way#and healie the healslime is the mvp#lazyposts

when i reached level 110, i got access to the 10th anniversary quests so i did those and good lord that was tough. i guess i could have chosen a lower difficulty but i’m always like nah i’ll give it a go on strong first.
and like, i won, first time, solo with a support party but like i had to cast kerplunk twice. i got to the point where risen netherlord nelgel was like on critical health in that final phase and everyone was out of mp and dropping as my poor healslime couldn’t keep up. i was like maybe i pop 1 spirit elixir (restores 150 mp) then i can kerplunk for 100 mp and healie can resurrect me, then i can use the other 50 mp to finish him off. and it worked. one final big banga and it was over.
insane. i love a really close fight that still ends in victory, it was awesome.

I'm slowly getting back into the Dragon Quest series again and have started playing Dragon Quest Monsters 1 on the side. My favorite thing about the game is that you explore 'parallel worlds' and revisit events from the mainline series games.
It's funny to me also how this paints some interesting circumstances surrounding Healie/Hale the Healslime, who here is said to actually originate from M1's world of GreatTree.
Hale belonged to the King of GreatTree. But Pulio, who looks after the kingdom's monsters, had let them escape and Hale had fled through a rift. So the King is enraged about losing his precious Healslime and threatens to imprison Pulio if Terry can't bring him back. But Hale escaped to the DQ4 world, implying that if Ragnar recruited him first, then Pulio has to be imprisoned as consequence.

Shoutouts to Healie.
With this guy done, I think I've done all of the major "mascots" of the franchise and I can move on to lesser known stuff.
Recolors: Healslime / Medislime / Cureslime / Man o' War
Healslime cast Heal! The background got bigger, and more detailed... for some reason.
Drawing a Dragon Quest monster everyday until DQM: The Dark Prince releases.

Slime Mori Mori Dragon Quest
The Dragon Quest series is known for many things, among them basically birthing the Japanese style of role-playing games as we know it, but they remain endearingly charming, partially due to its amusing roster of enemies. Among ferocious dragons and warlocks, there are also weird, little cutesy creatures, to the point where players might even feel a little bad beating them up. The developers eventually realized this, so Dragon Quest IV became the first game where a friendly monster joined your team – the Healslime Healie, in the first chapter – while Dragon Quest V based almost the entire game around catching and raising monsters. Square-Enix went a step further with the Slime Mori Mori series, a trilogy of overhead action games for portable Nintendo platforms, starring one of the joyous, wide-eyed slimes, the monster that had effectively become the mascot for the series, and casting some of the other monsters in supporting roles. (“Morimori” means “enthusiastic”, owing to the near perpetually gleeful look on the heroic slime’s face.) The first and third were Japan-only, while the second was released in English under the name Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime. The artwork is by Osamu Kaneko, a longtime illustrator who worked on the Dragon Quest series, and who had worked on a number of manga featuring slimes as the main character, including Slime Boukenki, going back as far as 1993. There are no human characters in this side-series, the rationale being that humans would be potentially seen as enemies, since most of them they DO go around the main games killing all of the monsters, and wanted to keep free of that particular drama.

Not meaning to give false hope or anything but it is a little odd that they gave Healie a new unique human appearance after all this time considering they reused older models of the hero party from DQ4 where the eyes don’t quite look right from the front. Wouldn’t be surprised if he got featured in like, another spinoff or something. I mean they could have easily just used a default bard npc for him like in the past but no, Toriyama just went and designed a 10/10 twink design for him.
I'm being honest but his design is so genuinely good and I can tell a lot of effort was put into him. Other characters like Eileen and duffer used generic npc models when turned human and they could have easily done the same or even kept him a healslime. I don't see them doing anything of note with him outside of this since healie was never an important character to begin with. I do think it's bizarre they used generic monsters or village people for every npc but specifically went out of their way to design this one guy who's whole personality is I wanna be a real boy. If I didn't know already I would have thought he was a travel companion but he's just helix helix's (who also uses a generic monster design) assistant. What an odd choice to put effort in
#Healie was probably one of the last humanoid designs toriyama did before he died#I had trouble believing he designed him because he kinda looks out of place. You know what I mean#But there's absolutely no evidence that he was designed by anyone else#mlarayoukasks#non anon

Why is healie's eye green when healslimes famously have yellow eyes. Really bumps down his design from a 12/10 to a 11/10
