Ok as someone who recently just finished binging Hercai, can u pls give me a breakdown on the drama??? Was super into the cast but I was so disappointed to hear there was drama 😭

Oh, girl... It's complicated and I don't know the whole story. But there were a group of "fans" that were deluded into thinking Ebru and Akin were in love and such. Both of them were in relationships but the fans refused to see sense. Not to mention that their "proof" was laughable (still trying to figure out what they saw in those Cannes videos to make them believe they were attracted to each other). That’s not unusual, but it gets more dramatic.

At first I thought that the reason why the two of them rarely ever posted pictures together or were separated even in group pictures was to avoid drama and potential abuse towards their ACTUAL partners. It even came to a point in which Ebru deleted or suspended her social media, but she ended up coming back. Among all that chaos it started emerging rumours that Akin and Ebru didn't exactly get along and that Akin was rude towards Ebru. The fans dismissed it and said it was fabricated by the turkish press.

Whether it was true or not the reality is that Ebru (and, apparently, Hercai's director) unfollowed Akin mere days before the last episode was aired and Akin unfollowed Ebru just afted the finale was aired. After Ebru unfollowed him (which the most hardcore stans blamed on Ebru's social media guy or manager), it transpired that Akin had pretty much lost it. Something about yelling and throwing stuff against his trailer. He answered saying that it was a member of the crew who had done that and that he had issued a criminal complain against that person.

To that you may want to add Banu, Hercai's producer. For most of the time I was more into the fandom she seemed pretty obsessed with Akin and there were instances in which she seemed to forget Ebru even existed. And I was sent this:

“Its not the first time things got ugly behind the scenes on Hercai, as some of Akin’s friend last summer were posting pictures and videos mocking Ebru and her bf and when Banu repotedly had an argument with her and insulted her and reduced Reyyan’s character and screen time till fans noticed it and made a riot last year on S2”

I don't know if it's true or not, but it was noticiable that Reyyan was pretty much on the background for a good chunk of season 2 and fans complained a lot about that. Banu seemed to have a change of heart at the end of season 3, tho and I wouldn't be shocked if she was a contributing factor in this whole story.

The whole thing left a sour taste in the fandom. At the end of it they couldn't deny that Akin and Ebru weren't in good terms and the mood during the finale was... weird. And after that many stan accounts pretty much dissapeared or changed their hercai themed names, headers and profile pics to something else. It was quite something.
