Alright everyone, sit down. Itâs time for Nagisaâs biggest headcanon on Melanie yet. Technically itâs canon for this version of her but eh.
Under the cut due to triggers and length. It has the blanket trigger warning tag (trigger warning) on it because I cannot pinpoint what would trigger someone.
Melanie is classified as a human-like entity. This means her appearance is human but she is not. This is due to the fact that, in Symphogear G, Melanie did not toss herself and Miku into the light of Shenshoujing until the last seconds of her life. Though the fragments inside of Melanie was cleansed, the fusion of her body and Gungnir completed. However, she still kept control of herself and is fully capable of summoning Gungnir without the converter pendant due to the fusion. Melanie does rely on the converter pendant since summoning Gungnir from the fusion gives her flashbacks to the days she spent summoning Gungnir from within and it hurting each time it happened.
The biggest thing with this is: Melanie is capable of regeneration. Much like the Nehushtan Armor worn by Fine, the fusion with Gungnir allows Melanie to regenerate her body if she is fatally injured. This makes her virtually unkillable, though if she loses a crucial part of her she will lose at least a minute of memory from the time of impact to the time she regenerates. This is due to the fact if a vital area is hit (i.e: head, heart), she must exert energy to regenerate that part fully. This causes her to basically black out and not remember anything for that amount of time.
This also means that Melanie is unable to feel pain. She can be hurt badly and not be able to realize it, keeping herself going despite the fact she is actually injured.
There is a downside to this: Losing a part of herself (i.e: arm, leg) will cause Gungnir to overtake her and make her go berserk. She will lose all memory of what happens from the time Gungnir takes over to the time she is snapped out of it. If she is knocked unconscious, she will not know what happened. This is because she is technically not in control, the relic is. This is usually first seen with black light coming from her chest and her voice taking on a more monstrous growl as the light overtakes her and the place where her eyes is becomes red.
Image for visuals of berserk mode (taken from the Symphogear Wiki):
Because of the instability of the Berserk mode, Melanie is basically a monster in human flesh in this mode. She will attack whatever is either closest to her or triggered Gungnirâs berserk mode if the assailaint is still nearby. It isnât easy to knock Melanie out in this form, but it has happened a couple times.
As a result of the fusion, Melanieâs body shows multiple abnormalities. Her heartrate is irregular, she runs hotter than normal humans (at least fever rate), x-rays show metal instead of bones, MRIs have broken due to the fusion and CT scans show that Melanieâs cell structure is abnormal, and that her heart, in particular, has major problems even though she is perfectly fine. Bloodwork, as well, shows a high level of iron and electrolytes as well as decreased white blood cells. Most tests show that Melanie should not be alive at this point, and this is mostly true as Melanie should be dead at this point and time.
Due to the Symphogear Relic Fusion, Melanieâs body allows her to bypass the Noiseâs Phase Contrast Barrier and fight them without ever equipping Gungnir. She can use her body as a shield against the Noise if she goes to a version of the Symphogear universe where she did not take the place of Hibiki and buy civilians time to escape.
The fusion has also strengthened Melanieâs actual physical strength to inhuman levels akin to a few levels above Genjuro Kazanari, her adoptive father in the Symphogear universe she lived in for a few years. She is capable of breaking things without meaning to, but has learned how to keep it in check and be extremely unassuming to most. The only reason people know sheâs strong is because of the fact that she is quite muscular due to the amount of training she does to keep her body in fighting shape. They do not know how strong she actually is.
In the end, however, Melanie has long left humanity behind thanks to her dumb decision. She regrets it a little, but doesnât really mind it in the end.

Headcanon (or rather, canon) time!
Melanie is descended from a line of powerful mages. Though the magic diminished with time, and all but a few can do it in the modern day, the Sinclairs are the last remaining remnants of that lineage. However, the magic laid dormant was forcibly awakened when Melanie accidentally consumed powdered Aionis, a rock that kick-started her âmagic circuitsâ. However, the task of casting magic was originally enough to drain Melanie of her stamina and leave her weak and weary. This was because of the way her magic was made to awaken.
A sorcerer from the bloodline she was descended from ended up helping her remove the blockage preventing her magic from being fully utilized, and Melanie soon grew in power rapidly. When she had created Sinclairâs Grand Manor, the sorcerer had been surprised at that. Heâd only taught her basic portal spells, and yet sheâd created an entire manor in a pocket dimension.
It was then that Melanie was considered a magical prodigy. Someone who can see any magic, real or fake, and be able to replicate it or add her own spin to it. A true sorceress.
Because of this, Melanie is considered to be the reincarnation of Scathach who, in Earth-87, was a grand Sorceress and a warrior Queen in ancient mythology. The truth of this consideration is yet to be determined.

What other Choices books did you play aside from DS? (also curious about your other ships)
Iâve played pretty much every book except a few (like Baby Bump and Save the Date) because these types of books donât really interest me. Â
You can find my list of MCs on my main page.
Hereâs who each one romanced, since you asked, plus a few more not mentioned in the list. Be warned: itâs a long list since Iâve played a lot of books!
The Royal Romance - Caroline Copeland started with Liam (who was renamed Stephen) but romanced Drake. They have a daughter named Gabriella âEllaâ Walker
HSS - Aaron Lowry romanced Aiden
Bloodbound (I just started this one) - Rachel Woods has no romance yet
The Heist Monaco - Jordan Piers romanced Eris and then Fabien
Passport to Romance - Joseph Azarola romanced Eliot
MoTY - Lydia Day romanced Thomas in the beginning but ended up with Levi. Her daughterâs name is Hailey.
Open Heart - romanced Bryce and then Ethan
Nightbound - Cal (I liked Nik, but since we have the same name it was awkward to romance him)Â Â
The Elementalists - Beckett
Big Sky Country - Sawyer
It lives in the Woods - ConnorÂ
It lives Beneath - Parker (I havenât finished this one yet)
Perfect Match - first Hayden, then Damien
VoS - Flynn
Blades - Marcellus flirts with literally everyone, but he ultimately chose Mal. It was a very close call between him and Tyril. Â
Red Carpet Diaries - Matt
Platinum - started off with Avery, but ended up with Raleigh
Desire and Decorum - Mr. Sinclaire
AME - romanced Adam (who was renamed Brandon.)
Iâm also on book 2 of Rules of Engagement and picked the bartender (Jared) route. My MCâs name is Melanie and I have a headcanon that Prince Leo is in love with her and talks about her in TRR and the paparazzi mentions their affairÂ

She's immortal and will outlive her friends and family. She just knows she'll spend as much time with them as she can before old age finally takes them from her. But she'll never vocalize it aloud, given that she's adept at hiding her feelings (mainly)

As a child, Melanie stuttered a lot because of the abuse she was put through by her biological mother's hands. She definitely has anxiety to the extreme, so talking is hard for her as a kid... Her thoughts can't go into words well because she's so afraid she may say something wrong and suffer the wrath of others.
So... she's not a very vocal kiddo.

Melanie has actually been in Teyvat since prior to Khaenri'ah's destruction. She travelled with Dainsleif, met the Unknown God and talked to the Unknown God instead of immediately attacking because she said Melanie's journey ended there. Trying to figure out the reason behind it instead of jumping to violence like the twins did.
This ended up being a good thing, as the Unknown God ultimately decided to let her keep her powers instead of sealing them off. She didn't try to leave Teyvat during the destruction of Khaenri'ah. Her meeting the Unknown God had come after Khaenri'ah's destruction and after parting ways with Dainsleif on a "we'll meet again in the future" note. Because of this, the Unknown God was lenient with her.
Because she wasn't trying to run from a bad situation.
Though that leaves a question: Who is the Abyss Prince/Princess in Melanie's Teyvat?
#headcanon; melanie sinclair#i'm sleepy so this may not make a lick of sense but#melanie in genshin is 528 years old.

Honestly, instead of going to the Grand Bazaar, she ends up going to the Akademiya for a while. Literally goes there to the House of Daena and reads for what could amount to days to the point she kind of forgets to go out. And, when she's finally shoo'd out, goes to the Grand Bazaar and sees Scaramouche.
In her grief, she temporarily forgot that a person cannot erase their existence from Irminsul and would still exist but not in the same way as before they attempted to erase their existence from the world. So, imagine her seeing Scaramouche (now known as Wanderer), and literally just running up to him and hugging him as tightly as she could because of various reasons.
That's how they meet again. She literally runs up and hugs him as tight as she could LMAO

Springtime Asks || Accepting
âMy favourite part of spring is... well, the pleasant weather we get. Itâs usually around sixty to seventy degrees farenheight, and itâs just really nice for going for a walk or going to the beach! I just donât like wearing swimsuits.â
đˇ Tulip: What springtime activities does your character do with the people they love? What do they do with who?
âOh! Genjuro used to take me to eat under the cherry blossoms! And, usually, weâd ask Tsubasa to come with us... Sheâd usually decline, though, since her training is a bit more important. Itâs a really fond memory.â
đź Daffodil: What signals the true start of spring for your character? Why?
âCherry blossoms. It means spring is here. Oh, and maybe the temperature too. Depends on if the groundhog saw his shadow or not. The old man at the grocer I frequent usually starts sneezing around springtime too, so thatâs also a sign...â

Things that have happened to Melanie during her multiversal travels:
Nearly died from blood loss/impalement Nearly died because of Gungnir fusing with her (she had literally 5 seconds left to live. If she hadnât of yeeted herself and Miku into the light of Shenshoujing, she wouldâve died at that point) Had her arm bitten off (and regenerated in the same night) Nearly got killed because she absorbed the power of the Gods and became a monster. Became a relic-human fusion (because Gungnir may have been cleansed but the amount of time she spent trying to talk Miku out of what she was doing took up most of the time so Gungnir became a part of her-- this i need to explain in another post) Lost a friend (they were okay in the end but-) Has had to leave behind so many people sheâs befriended (not of her own voilition) Failed to âsaveâ Hibiki (but instead it was just a vision of her, not the actual thing) Lost her family (they ended up being okay, with the rest of her world) Nearly died again (Emet-Selch I blame you) Got caught up in Primal nonsense
Sheâs been through hell.

@random-oc-questions-fairyâ said: You've been visited by the random OC question fairy! :D ~â What is true about your character's current life that would make their child self cry? What about their life has surprised them, for good or for bad?
Muse selected: Melanie Sinclair
If Iâm being honest, the truth of being bullied and stuck in another world for three years from 15 years old to 18 years old would probably make child Melanie cry. See, sheâs attached to her family and loves them dearly. She doesnât want to be separated from them. Being on an alternate Earth and having to learn to read and write another language while knowing absolutely no one except the girl you saved?
Yeah, thatâs going to make a child cry for sure.
What surprised her the most, though, was coming back to a dead home when her friend, the girl she saved, died right in front of her (More like just disappeared, but for all intents and purposes that girl is dead). No life, no people, nothing. Sure, the electricity still ran but.
There was nothing there. She was alone. That was the worst surprise ever.
#random oc questions fairy#headcanons: melanie sinclair#!!! this was a good couple of questions! thank you so much!

Please note that this headcanon only goes for my versions of the characters of Symphogear. In no way will I force my headcanons upon you.
For the longest time, Melanie mistook Miku for Hibiki.
After she had woken up, she had been visited by Hibikiâs parents. Their words, she didnât understand until after she learned Japanese... but she knew from their tones and the way they acted that they blamed her for Hibikiâs coma. Melanie hadnât asked for Hibiki to try to break her fall as she got pierced in the chest by a fragment of Kanadeâs Gungnir but...
When she learned Japanese, she understood what they said.
âYou should be in a coma, not our daughter.â
Melanie was traumatized by this. She had survived an incident that killed many but had allowed her, Hibiki and Tsubasa to live. Hibiki would be in a coma for months, with signs of recovering. Melanie superimposed Hibiki onto Miku, and had formed a personality for her from what little she knew. To everyone else, she was talking to Miku normally but Melanie was thinking she was talking to Hibiki and Miku was elsewhere every time.
This did cause problems for the two of them up until after Symphogear G.
The image of Hibiki took on its own life for a while after the events of G, becoming a sort of âimaginary friendâ for Melanie. This was actually more harmful to Melanie than helpful, as it gave her the guise of someone who had gone crazy. At the end, it was as if she had fulfilled her purpose and was able to go back home.
However, during the universeâs version of events from Lost Song, the image disappeared. Melanie had thought Hibiki died. Therefore, she was afraid. Afraid of facing anyone for killing Hibiki. Everyone knew Hibiki was in a coma, as Genjuro often gave Miku status updates and Miku went to visit her in the hospital. But none of them blamed Melanie.
The only one blaming Melanie was Hibikiâs parents out of grief. Hibikiâs grandmother was more understanding about what happened, and had asked Melanie to thank Hibiki when she woke up. Melanieâs mind had twisted the events to protect her, thinking that Hibiki was okay and that nothing had happened.
But she found out that Hibiki was alive and well thanks to Genjuro during the time Melanie was despondent and unable to really move forward past what had happened. Hibiki didnât blame anyone, and even considered Melanie a friend because she had accepted the invitation for the second ticket since Miku hadnât been able to go to the concert (although there was a language barrier, Melanie had nodded to accept Hibikiâs offer, which had started the events of Melanieâs tenure in the alternate, future Japan.).
Melanie later apologized to Miku for everything, and Miku accepted this apology after a while of thinking on it. Because Melanie truly didnât mean any harm.
But yes, Melanie did think Miku was Hibiki due to the fact she was tired of being treated badly and her mind had made it as such to protect her until she was able to face the truth head on.

Melanie has an incredible memory.
Give her numbers to memorize? She can recite it forwards, backwards and mixed. Hippity hoppity, your pin number is now her property (but not really).
Need her to summarize something? Sheâll pull the most basic information thatâs needed for a summary and add in tidbits of action if it has any to really make it work.
Life events? You bet. She remembers everything that has happened to her, though she doesnât like the fact she does. At all.
Reading? Sheâll skim a book and, when asked what itâs about, recite what itâs about and ask if there are any questions.
She can retain a ton of information, and her memory is extremely long for a human being. However, due to being bullied and shamed for it, Melanie downplays how much she can remember and pretends she forgot something when she didnât.

@iinaurasâ said: Does Melanie have recurring themes in her dreams? Does she have recurring themes in her nightmares?
Melanie doesnât have any recurring themes in her dreams.
However, in her nightmares, itâs the same scene every time with differences. Always at a concert, always invited in despite having no knowledge of the language at the time. The circumstances differ, but each time she nearly dies and watches as a woman at the end of her lifespan sacrifices herself to save her. She screams, but she canât open her mouth.
A silent scream as sheâs torn apart by the guilt she still feels to this day, that she was the one who lived through the Zwei Wing Incident while thousands of others died.
Itâs always about the incident, always. They donât happen often, but when they do... Sheâs in tears and inconsolable until she cries herself back to sleep (and feels worse for the wear). The sad thing is, if her memory wasnât as fantastic as it was...
The Zwei Wing incident wouldnât bother her as much as it does.
