Mancando Doloroso
It was his fifth, maybe sixth attempt at climbing the Spire.
The shooter in his hands felt weighty and unwieldy; he knew his way around a splattershot, sure, but this one was hard to manage. Every shot left him feeling drained.
"It's a part of their soul," Marina had supplied so helpfully when Sen confided the heaviness the weapon provided.
He didn't think Delta had had so much to weigh on them to make this sleek white shooter feel like lead in his hands. It made him feel...actually, he wasn't sure how to feel. So, he doubled down and didn't let himself dwell on it.
The floor ahead loomed, cast in harsh flourescent light; even from behind the bars of a silver cage, Sen could see his opponent waited on the opposite side of the room.
There were two to start, this time. The twentieth floor was never kind, the fragmentation more severe. It made Sen's chest ache. The cage dropped out from under him, and Pearl caught him without hesitation.
She rambled off something he wasn't listening to and must have realized his attention lie elsewhere because she fell silent halfway through her sentence. The unusual stop almost jerked Sen back to the present, but he was determined.
The first of the masked inklings dropped in, wielding a brush. Its shiny metal face flashed as it swung at Sen, red eyes faulting for a moment as they searched for where he'd dropped into his own ink.
Swiftly, Sen lunged up from the muted orange ink, grappling one-handedly with the opposing inkling. He stuck his foot out; they tripped over it, stumbling, and it gave Sen purchase to wrench the brush out of their hands.
"Delta," he said firmly, pulling the inkling out of the sickly black ink they were standing in and into his own. The masked inkling tilted their head, trying to shove him away.
"Stop," Sen pleaded, low voice insistent. "Delta, I want to help you."
The inkling shook their head, voice warped by the smooth metal mask on their face. The heavy ink coating their body wavered, damaged by Sen's own. The octoling squeezed their wrist, mouth ajar to say something else, when they fell apart into a puddle of ink that stuck to his palm and oozed between his fingers, into the white of his shoes.
Sen jolted back, returning his grip to the shooter in his hands. The weight of it made him want to cringe, as the second of his opponents finally caught up to him. The ex-agent didn't hesitate to strike the roller down; the expression on his face easily read as disturbed.
Pearl whizzed close to his ear, making Sen tilt his head to avoid the blades of the drone's propeller.
"Hey!" She bumped into his shoulder purposefully. "Eight, c'mon. Get your head in the game!"
Sen opened his mouth and shut it again, widening his stand. The next wave was starting. He had to get through to at least one of them.
A blaster-wielding copy of the inklings from before rushed him, it's shots popping in the space between them and spattering slick black ink across the empty ground. Sen had neglected to claim any turf between waves; he was paying for it now.
The blaster gave him no room to get in close, and Sen shot them down without a second thought. It didn't get any easier to watch them succumb to the onslaught and their body liquefy into an unrecognizable stain on the floor.
Sen peppered off a few shots, hiding the evidence of the kill. He rounded on the next - a slosher insistent on trying to cover as much ground as possible. The octoling gritted his beak, grinding his fangs together. He threw caution to the wind and rushed the slosher.
The cloying black ink sprayed over him, seeping through his armor and shattering some pieces of the holographic tech. Regardless, Sen got what he wanted; he raised his knee quickly, jostling the slosher out of his adversary's hands. It clattered uselessly to the ground.
The inkling paused and drew their hands to their chest. They ran.
"No!" Sen lunged after them, giving chase, but the inkling pitched over the side of the platform and into the endless abyss below. Sen went off the side after them.
His hand caught in the deployed handle Pearl had to offer, and with some difficulty, she righted him on the platform of the room again. The drone deployed a bomb, which bounced to the feet of an approaching brella. It got caught in the brella's shield and exploded, spraying orange ink into the face of another masked inkling.
That one pitched backward, sinking unceremoniously into a puddle of ink.
"Eight," Pearl's projected eyes narrowed. "What's going on? Come on, take care of this!"
Sen waved the drone off. He was running out of chances.
"I have to get one of them alone," he looked up at Pearl, who wavered in midair; she was unsure of where he was going with this.
Pearl tilted up in the direction of the enemy cage, already bringing along another brush. "You got it."
Sen nodded. The octoling was glad to have her support.
The brush was another bust; this one never even made it to him, caught in his ink. Briefly, Sen wished he hadn't invested in those poison ink chips, wanting to tear them right out of the palette if it meant he could get his hands on one of these masked inklings.
The roller gave him more trouble than he'd admit, tracking wide swaths of black ink across the floor that had Sen frustrated. He gunned them down out of impulse and moved on.
Pearl, to her credit, tried to get the blaster in a corner. Unfortunately, she lost track of them under a swarm of jelletons that the enemy drone deployed. Occupying herself as a sprinkler to try and cover ground, Pearl didn't notice the blaster until it had already fallen prey under a poorly-placed bomb. Sen watched the altercation out of the corner of his eye and resolved to forgive her botched effort.
He was down to the dualies and the shooter; the latter seemed to have perched at the top platform, watching Sen's desperate display from the safety of its ledge. He had no doubt they'd come down and face him when they were good and ready.
The dualies certainly were eager to take a shot at him, and their mobility gave Sen a real run for his money. He struggled to keep up.
The octoling frowned to himself, sidestepping as the inkling came rolling right past him. He lunged at them, knocking one dualie out of their hand and pushing them down on uninked ground.
Pearl hovered nearby, spinning nervous circles. The shooter-wielding inkling watched from above.
Sen pinned his target's chest under his hips, knee dug painfully into their wrist.
"Delta," he pleaded for what felt the dozenth time since he started this endeavor. "Please, I don't want to fight you."
He dropped his shooter aside. The absence of weight as it left his hands had Sen feeling more confident. His fingertips traced the edge of the inkling's mask, and they stopped struggling.
Sen's hearts sank in his chest. The seam of the mask was completely smooth, as if the shiny metal had been fused into their face.
"No," he mumbled, trying to dig his claws down. The inkling under him writhed as thin beads of black ink pushed up around his sharp nails. "No, no, no. Delta, please."
The inkling tried to kick him off, and Sen nearly let them. He tried again to pry up the mask, and it was starting to give. The octoling slid his fingertips under the edge as it rose. His mouth watered unpleasantly as more black ink oozed out from under the mask, frighteningly warm. It stuck to the inside of the mask as he pried it off.
There was nothing underneath. The inkling splattered into a puddle under his knees.
"Eight!" Pearl warned, deploying a suction bomb.
Instantly, Sen grabbed his shooter and rolled to the side. The enemy shooter had joined the fight with a massive splashdown.
Sen's vision blurred. He wanted to be sick. He didn't have time.
"Looking for me?" The inkling's voice warbled.
Sen got to his feet. The shooter was approaching casually; unsure, Sen's body tensed as he waited for the inevitable attack. It didn't come. Pearl puttered nervously nearby.
"Sen," the voice went on, as the inkling toed the line of Sen's orange ink. "Come here."
He shook his head and gripped tight on his shooter so much that he nearly squeezed the trigger on accident. A part of him wasn't sure if he was refusing the order or warning them not to step into his ink in its poisoned state.
The inkling pressed on, beginning to struggle through the ink towards Sen. It was clear they were taking damage.
"Delta," he breathed as the inkling adversary suddenly dropped their weapon. This had never happened before. Why now? "Please, let me - let me help you."
"Sen," Delta's voice skipped and pitched in weird ways, "Sen it hurts, please - make it stop - where's Gamma?"
Then sharp static cut through their voice, and Delta's head rolled to the side limply. They fell to their knees, silvery mask beginning to slide off their face. Tarlike ink oozed against it as the metal clattered to the floor, still connected by thick ropes of viscous ink.
Delta's body dropped limply to the floor. Sen sank to their side, weapon discarded; his hands pulled fistfuls of their blackened jacket into his grasp.
He begged, quietly, for them not to disappear; even if he knew that they'd fight again. He wouldn't be able to explain it to Gamma: that he'd failed, that he was going to fail again and again and again.
Over, and over, and over and over again.
Delta's body was quickly liquefying under his touch, a thin veneer of semi-transparent ink floating atop the thick black. Sen's stomach churned as he recognized it as blood.

₊ ׄ . Drift/Jay, any pronouns, minor, apagender & aroace. Occasional artist, editor, and writer. If you want, call me Dray. Drift + Jay = Dray, I don't mind. Also mainly known as _mtmte on some other platforms, but driftkinnie and driftsthighs are alternatives.
My MAIN interest is Transformers, primarily the MTMTE/LL comics since I'm very well-versed in it (or so I think), but others include Ninjago, Ranger's Apprentice, Undertale, The Legend of Zelda, Warrior Cats, Wings of Fire, and more.
If you couldn't tell already, I love Dratchet. That's probably the only thing you'll ever see on this blog. I do like other ships though such as Wrift, some Driftceptor, Rodrift (kind of), Ratchlock, and most canonical ships. I think of most of the fanon ships I enjoy and ship myself as platonic (as someone who's a heavy "strictly-canon" person unless I see reasonable evidence for them to be shipped), but I won't bash on anyone who ships anything away from the canon things. Don't worry, I'm not that boring.
What you'll probably expect in this blog would be the aforementioned, headcanons (headcannons?), theories, and other things I'll probably post in the future that doesn't go along these lines, primarily about MTMTE/LL, of course. If you're really into that, that's great, welcome to the chaos! I don't expect myself to post with a set schedule or consistently, I'll probably forget to post and probably forget Tumblr even exists someday, but I try my best.

Hehe. Lol. Hoohoo.
The verse tags denote which universes the headcanon is generally seen; a lot of them overlap. I'm going to explain which each verse tag so far means under the cut bc. It gets long LOL
I'll probably make a post that explains my ideas of different verses more in depth, but for now...!
I have three universe categories:
Serious Verse: very close to canon. These headcanons mostly exist to fill in gaps, I try not to contradict anything. This has much less supernatural elements to it- mostly in regards to the ghouls. Typically in serious verse they are just humans, sometimes they're resurrected dead bodies. Either way they're generally unimportant to the story.
Supernatural verse: this one gets pretty heavy on the ghoul stuff, they are always some kind of creature from hell (or fallen angels for quint ghouls), the ministry is 100% doing actual magic rituals, and sometimes the papas have been resurrected. These verses also have more wiggle room to contradict canon (when it suits me LOL)
Silly verse: it's safe to assume most things are canon in silly verse, unless it's funnier for them not to be. I'm not sure how much I'll actually use this tag, but I wanted to have it just in case lol. Silly verse is kind of a catch all for "wouldn't it be cool if--?"
Each of these 3 categories end up with like, subcategories within them, but I don't have many fleshed out/neatly divided rn. EXCEPT for two subcategories for supernatural verse:
Masked verse: this is the one where ghouls have faces under their masks. There are other differences, but this is the most obvious one
Faceless verse: this is the one where the masks ARE the ghouls faces. The masks are the only thing binding them and keeping them together outside of the pit

JUVIA LOCKSER - PORTRAYAL MASTER POST
Tags: Headcanons. Asks. Interactions.
This post is to cover all major canon divergences as well as any important details that are worth sharing about my portrayal of Juvia. All of these points remain no matter the verse unless stated otherwise or plotted with specific partners. I truly do not like 90% of Ma.shima's characteristics of Juvia, so she's my OC more than anything. ( also, if any of these look familiar, you probably saw them on my old juvia blog )
1 ) JUVIA IS NOT OBSESSED WITH GRAY AND DOES NOT STALK HIM!! This has always been my biggest gripe about Ma.shima's writing of Juvia, how he had boiled her down to one unhealthy obsession when she has so many important relationships and character development outside of Gray. I might make an entire separate post on this later down the line, but Juvia has a high level of gratitude and thanks towards Gray, and at first she had mistaken these emotions for love and infatuation, but upon further inspection, she realized that those weren't the true emotions she felt towards Gray. That doesn't mean Juvia isn't a hopeless romantic at heart, and would love to have a fairy tale ending with someone, but that someone isn't necessarily Gray.
2 ) Along the lines of Point 1, Juvia did not join Fairy Tail because of Gray. Her joining of Fairy Tail was actually due to Makarov extending an invitation to her following everything with Phantom Lord, which she had initially turned down, but did agree to do a small trial run of the guild. It was only after seeing how much unconditional love and support the guild members had for one another did Juvia accept his offer and join the guild.
3 ) Juvia was not present during the events of Tower of Heaven. Following Phantom Lord's disbandment, Juvia found herself in a place of heavy reevaluation on her entire life. For the first time in her life the rain clouds that followed her were gone and she didn't know what to do about it, so she began wandering and traveling, trying to find her purpose again. She never did end up a the casino where the fire fairies were and thus never got involved in the tower of heaven situation. The Tower of Heaven actually lines up with Juvia's Trial Period in Fairy Tail, still leading her to join the guild during Battle of Fairy Tail.
4 ) Juvia did participate in the S-Class trials, but she was not up for nomination. This one is a bit hard to fully explain or put into the timeline without some plotting ( probably with a Lisanna or someone else ) but I truly believe Juvia did not feel qualified enough to be nominated for an S-Class promotion, even if that was her status in Phantom Lord. She is a very proud woman and feels like she hadn't been in fairy tail long enough to be able to be nominated, and instead was happy to be someone's partner during the trial.
5 ) This one is absolutely petty, but Juvia won the Naval Battle during the GMG. Team B was robbed of many deserved victories during the GMG and I am rectifying this. I refuse to believe that an S-Class leveled mage who was widely known as the Water Element of the Element Four and had the title The Rain Woman that she would have been knocked out by being distracted. Juvia won the Naval Battle, everything else be damned.
6 ) Much like Laxus, Juvia had long term health issues following the battles against Keyes during Tartarous. Because Keyes entire being was made of Bane particles, Juvia had ended up absorbing a large portion of them when in her water body form, leaving a lasting impact on both her body and her magic. Following Tartarous, Juvia isn't able to activate her water body as easily and has to extremely limit her magic use to prevent MDS from coming into effect. Some days are much worse than others but she is having to place severe limits on her magic consumption.
7 ) This is open for adjustments and plotting, but I do still have Juvia leaving with Gray during the 1 year time skip. I am taking from my gray's canon in the fact that he told Juvia he was leaving, but didn't give many specific details about it all. Juvia does shut down about this, but mainly due to deep seated trauma about abandonment due to her childhood. Juvia's poor health upon being discovered by Natsu & Co is due to her magic over exerting itself and the lasting health issues from the bane particles.
8 ) The most important people in Juvia's life is Gajeel & the other element four. She is still actively in touch with the other three following Phantom's disbandment, and Gajeel has always been a consistent in her life, someone who she can easily refer to as her family no matter what. It takes awhile for the rest of Fairy Tail to reach that status, but she does hold most people in the guild with extremely high regards.

a couple pieces of mcu canon for this blog --- mostly because they have come up in one or more threads and i like the idea enough to have it as my main verse
bucky’s sister, rebecca is still alive. she was 92 years old when the first images of her brother as the winter soldier hit the news. she was 94 when peggy passed away ( i reckon they would have been friends ), and 95 when she first gets a call from bucky ( while he’s in wakanda. ) she and bucky are both ‘ blipped ’ and they do finally get their face to face meeting and she is one of the reasons bucky chooses to stay in brooklyn, ny. she unfortunately doesn’t hold on much longer after the second blip and dies at the official age of 96. bucky meets her family at the funeral and develops a complicated relationship with them, but a relationship nonetheless. rebecca’s family includes three young great grand children.
hydra and red room are different factions. the winter soldier was not a trainer of the red room. if any connection needs to be made for plotting purposes, the most he may have been involved in with the red room is as a trial or a test for the widows, similar to how he was made to spar with the winter soldiers 2.0 during their testing phase. his fighting style may have been used as an example and may have been studied by the widows/other subjects. he was most likely used as a myth or legend to aspire to be like, or to be afraid of --- in that he was known to be mindless and controlled so you knew nothing would get in the way of him and his mission, he had no human weakness to exploit. i can see why that sort of ideal may have been propagated amongst the black widows.
bucky frequently fosters animals for his local pet shelter when he knows he’s going to be in town for a while. the shelter tends to get overcrowded a lot so they’re happy for animals to stay in certain homes until a more permanent home can be placed for them and/or until injuries heal. as first referenced in this thread with knowseverythingaboutyou.
steve is his best friend, ride or die, but post endgame/tfatws era, they are not joined at the hip. ( unless we’re shipping, in which case 😍 ). he does have a budding relationship with sam, strengthened if they end up working together as they do following tfatws canon. if diverging from tfatws timeline, bucky maintains a strong relationship with the wakandans, namely shuri, ayo, and okoye, as mentioned in this headcanon post.. their relationship involves unprompted facetimes after months of going without speaking and random drop-ins by the wakandans at rather inopportune moments for bucky. as well as updates of how that one goat he helped birth that he named steven ( after steve duh ) is going, being looked after by the children.
he also maintains a strong relationship with rocket, and through rocket, the rest of the guardians although he would never hang out with the other guardians unless rocket was there. ( you know those kinds of relationships, right ? ) he has a crush on mantis and rocket knows about it. it’s hell. again, their interactions are mostly through text or video call, and pretty random and unprompted unless world-saving is happening.
natasha is alive ( duh ) , but again, he doesn’t hang out with her unless sam or steve are there too. same goes for sharon probably. and most of the other avenger-types that he knows through association with steve.
bucky has some pretty heavy conditions attached to his pardon. scheduled therapy was a part of it. his expected acquiescence to any governmental or new-SHIELD request is another, basically making him a puppet once again. new-SHIELD is also heavily military influenced as seen in tfatws so he has immediate issue with that right there. if he is found in russia, or a few european countries that hydra were heavily active against, they do have the right to incarcerate him and place him under trial for crimes committed against their country --- though his US pardon applies to most countries that recognise US law and rulings.
bucky is found to be eligible for military backpay as his KIA status was overruled as a returned POW post-pardon, and the ongoing payment is tied to his pardon being upheld along with it’s conditions. ) someone do the maths but it’s like $8-9k a month taking into considering living expenses and that he remains on active duty.
i also think rebecca and her family would take care of him if that was ever required, but if it was ever required then it would probably be a situation where the last thing bucky would want to do is involve them, so it’s a bit of a moot point.
truth be told, the weight of the ‘ pardon ’ and it’s associated ‘ conditions ’ are stifling as fuck and in his main verse he is very prone to breaking the conditions of his pardon and going off on his own and finding peace with himself on his own terms. there is additional weight that comes with the almost forced gratitude he feels for being let off the hook, and not letting down the likes of steve and sam, and shuri and ayo by not doing the most with this supposed second chance.

Headcanon Time: FIXING TOICHI
Oh shoot here we go it’s controversial take time.
Discussed a few of these points while plotting things with @moore--or--less a while back so I may as well put them here too.
For context, screw what’s been “confirmed”, in this blog Toichi is dead unless there’s a very specific plot that calls for him to still be alive, like he got APTX’d or something like heavy witness protection and is actually undercover but that is a very specific nondescript plot that would probably be it’s own separate verse.
In the canon of this specific rp blog: Toichi is dead and Chikage was Corbeau.
The comment about the heat pads, her mentioning she’s going to see a magic show when Kaito first starts going about as KID only for Corbeau to make a cameo at the end of the heist, her being in Vegas the same time Corbeau starts being active, she’s Corbeau okay?
There’s no reason not to assume her disguise skills aren’t on par with Toichi’s, especially if they get the same gadget supplier, Dr. Agasa, who is fully capable of making voice changing devices. If Kaito picked it up when he was eight, the woman of twenty faces can make a Toichi disguise to dissuade her son from being a thief? Okay? Okay.
(she’s still a crappy mom tho, no arguing that point.)
Alright, that glaring issue covered up, here’s how I’d fix Toichi as a character to justify Kaito’s admiration toward him and desire to be like him.
He’s allowed to be less than morally sound, seeing as he’s teaching his son things like picking locks and such. He’s a first time parent after all, and with his whirlwind romance with Chikage he may not even have been prepared for fatherhood, we don’t know all the details since he has his own poker face to hide his own insecurities from everyone else.
What he needs first and foremost is a sense of humor. Let the man make dad jokes. He’s an entertainer and a performer, he’s allowed to be over the top and ready to rile a reaction out of anyone. Kaito himself could have picked up the trait from him and his constant “Hi Hungry, I’m Dad,” levels of jokes.
Let him play pranks, let him teach Kaito pranks, let them have a good laugh together. (Make a funny ghost au where Toichi keeps whispering dad jokes in Kaito’s ear on heists.)
Second, even if he has dubious morals, he’s still Kaito’s personal hero. Give him some more noble qualities. Like if Kaito is feeling sad, Toichi cheering his son up with the only way he knows how, magic tricks. Kaito is clearly more attached to his father than he is his mother even in canon, so his impression of Toichi is someone admirable to Kaito, rather than Chikage who he constantly blows off and mutters about her going at her own pace.
Toichi giving Kaito pats on the shoulder and rubbing his messy hair to show approval, compliment his magic because Kaito wants to learn, not because Toichi is forcing him to learn. Kaito is Toichi’s son and Toichi is allowed to be proud and affectionate toward him. Disguising as Santa Claus every year when giving out presents or just going to go get ice cream together.
Third, Toichi is still a flawed person. We all know about the infamous Poker Face lesson, but again, Toichi is still a first time dad. He may not know how a little kid grasping onto everything he says will take that kind of lesson. Toichi may have been trying to imply that it’s only when you’re performing you should hide your emotions, but Kaito took it a completely different way until it devolved into a bad coping mechanism after Toichi’s death.
Take whatever version of Kaito discovering the KID cave as you will, but what lies in there is a confession, not just a means of making a second KID. Toichi wanted to tell Kaito the truth when he deemed Kaito was old enough to understand it. But with the people chasing him around he knew he might not live long enough to tell Kaito personally, which is why he pre-recorded the message(s) for Kaito and left them there for Kaito to find when he was old enough.
Even the record player approach in 1412 has lessons about being a MAGICIAN pre recorded onto them. This is how you dazzle an audience, this is how you deal with tricky crowd members, sometimes you need to use reverse psychology. None of those messages pertain to stealing, breaking and entering, how to be KID, ect. They’re magic lessons. Something Toichi knew Kaito would want to keep learning after he was gone.
It was Kaito’s choice to put on the mantle. It was Kaito’s choice to take the confession and keep looking for answers, it was Kaito’s choice to become Kaitou KID the Second. Not everything Toichi taught him was grooming him to be his insurance policy. Kaito became KID because he loved his dad and didn’t want to see the people who got away with killing him do it again, before he even knew anything about Pandora or evil syndicates or sorcery.
Anyway, hot takes on Toichi over. Take these with a grain of salt, we know very little about Toichi, but hopefully this helps you understand why my version of Kaito thinks so highly of his dad despite what he’s done. ^^

Persona 5 Verse Info Page (for SoTFD)
Since Jeff is a character from an entirely different game that I’ve adapted for a persona verse, I’ve written a bunch of info for him here that makes getting to know him in the group verse a little bit easier.

Algernon is a traditional chimera: the head and front half of a lion, the back half of a goat, with the tail of a snake. He is also half robotic, two legs, half his face, and half his body made of metal with teal accents. You can read a headcanon about his persona here. He’s big enough for two people to ride on (and Jeff often does, he thinks he looks cool), and is actually rather gentle and physically affectionate when not in battle. But he has cool fangs and can breathe fire and lasers and stuff.
Moveset:

His weapons are laser guns (that he makes himself) and chemicals in flasks that he throws at enemies (that he makes and mixes himself). His gun is a bazooka that inflicts heavy splash damage once per fight on all enemies (and of course, he made it himself).
Things to know:
Jeff is very skilled in building and repairing technological devices, though weapons are his favorite. He will build or fix things for you if you ask and he likes you, though he regularly pulls all-nighters to complete them. He’s an insomniac.
He’s from Winters, a snowy, remote town in England. He lives in Snow Wood Boarding School, a school for gifted boys, and they have had custody of him since age 3. His father, Dr. Andonuts, is a geneticist infamous for his practices of vivisection (experimentation on live animals), who created Jeff via in vitro fertilization (so he doesn’t know or have a mother), then neglected him until Snow Wood removed him from his father’s custody. He has not seen his father since he tried visiting him at age 13.
Jeff attended Shujin for the events of Royal via an exchange program. He speaks Japanese semi fluently, though it sounds a little like he learned it from a textbook.
He works part-time at Untouchable.
Jeff is VERY ride-or-die for the people he cares deeply about. His sacrifice buff comes very early compared to other confidants, and he tends to try and take hits for people often.
He has an incredible fondness for animals. Mice and cats and monkeys are his favorite, but he’s very kind to pretty much any living creature he sees. He’s the “put a cup under a spider to take it outside” and “feed my lunch to stray cats and dogs” kind of person.
Jeff looks up to Maruki as a father figure, and is apt to defend his actions during the third semester.
His best friend back home is named Tony, and they text and call and write letters often. Jeff will probably talk about him a lot.
Ness, Paula, and Poo (the other three protagonists of Earthbound) are still friends of Jeff’s, as they participated in the same exchange program, though none of them attend Shujin. Whether or not they’re also Phantom Thieves I haven’t really decided.

Courtship, Arranged Marriages, and Unplanned Pregnancies
Like I said here, I’ve got a bunch of headcanons on cultural differences between the four nations of the Avatar-verse. I decided to hit you guys right with the heavy stuff, first, so let’s talk about dating, marriage, and kids born out-of-wedlock!
(Note that these primarily apply to the time period shown in ATLA-- things are probably a little different by Korra’s era.)
Water Tribes: First off, I feel like a lot of fanfic writers tend to act like these guys (particularly the North) are total sexists on every level, which is a little unfair. Yes, we’re told that they have strict gender roles when it comes to bending, but nothing at any point in canon suggests that they think of women as second-class citizens. Just because they have rigid gender roles in certain areas (which is not super-uncommon for a tribal culture) doesn’t mean that women are considered lesser. So, in the water tribes, out-of-wedlock pregnancies are considered a dishonor on the man, not the woman. They’re also, frankly, considered a rather stupid move. In a polar climate with limited resources, what kind of selfish man would put the responsibility of another mouth to feed on someone else’s family? (Also, rape and molestation are taboos considered the most heinous crimes possible. Such things are almost unheard of, with punishments ranging from death to banishment.) In short, just because a culture doesn’t believe in teaching their women to fight does not mean they don’t honor and respect them. Practically speaking, most people are married by the time they’re twenty or so (at the very latest). In the North, which has a much larger population than the South, this does mean that a lot of families arrange marriages. (Matches are based on a number of factors, including compatibility, and the people being set-up generally do have the right to refuse, although that rarely happens.) In the South, where everybody knows everybody else, things are a little more relaxed and people generally choose their own partners. While some do go through a few people before they find the right one, dating, even from a young age, is serious business, and people who marry their childhood sweethearts are the general rule, rather than the exception. (This, btw, totally explains why Katara spent so long trying to debating whether or not she wanted to be with Aang. She wasn’t just thinking “do I like this guy enough to make him my first boyfriend?” She was deciding whether or not she could see herself potentially marrying him a few years down the line.)
Earth Kingdom: These guys are much more relaxed than the Water Tribes. Arranged marriages are pretty rare, even in the upper classes (although they do happen), and most people date casually for years before they really start thinking about marriage. (For any of you who’ve read the comics, this also explains the interaction in “The Promise: Part 2” between Katara and Aang’s fanclub. They refer to her as his “first” girlfriend, and she gets super-insulted. In the water tribes, people often marry the first person they date, but in the Earth Kingdom, no thirteen year old boy or fifteen year old girl is even thinking about marriage yet. It’s more of a culture gap than a truly intentional insult.) Out-of-wedlock pregnancies, while uncommon, do happen sometimes, but unless you’re really upper-crust, they’re not a huge deal. However, they aren’t really talked about in polite circles-- the accepted thing to do these days is to pretend to be a war widow.
Fire Nation: These guys fall somewhere in the middle. They generally do date with the eventual intention of marriage, but it’s fairly typical to go through several potential partners before deciding on the one, and courtships typically last at least two to five years. (Arranged marriages among the nobles are definitely more common than in the Earth Kingdom, though.) However, they’re expected to stay fairly chaste during that time. Even among the common folk, an out-of-wedlock pregnancy is a huge scandal, tarnishing both the good name of the girl and the honor of her father and his household. When they do happen, they’re usually quickly hushed up-- either by the Avatar-world equivalent of a shotgun marriage, a discreet operation, or a “trip to the colonies” (where the child is then shipped off to an orphanage).
Air Nomads: I didn’t really need to come up with much for them, since canon practically spells it out for us. The Air Nomads didn’t actually practice marriage, ergo, technically all children were born out-of-wedlock. They didn’t have traditional family units-- kids were raised communally by the monks and/or nuns. Some of them had long term relationships, others just casual flings, but I imagine most fell somewhere in the middle. (Vathara’s Embers mentions “spring festivals,” which sounds about right to me.)

🤔 I gave this the same amount of consideration I did with Grimm/Brumm to see if I could find an angle to invest myself in it and unfortunately I couldn’t find one. I’m sorry! I have my reasonings below under the read more bc it turned into a mini essay, but you don’t gotta read it
My first issue is the lack of any draw I see between Grimm and Hornet. I read through that twitter thread and they did have a point about Hornet probably being aware of Grimm’s Troupe and Grimm being able to see Hornet via his godly eyesight, but I don’t think they would mix well at all.
The other ships have some sort of mutual draw:
Brumm/Grimm: both a part of the troupe. In canon interactions. Brumm wonders if Grimm is a slave to the ritual which leads to a lot of speculation of their relationship and can also dip into heavy pining territory which I love.
Pure Vessel/Grimm: Grimm is (speculatively) the brother to the Radiance based off of their domains of dream and nightmares. PV was made to contain the Radiance and became a shell of what they once were. Since Grimm is experienced as a Vessel and PV was forced into it there is a draw of curiosity but also perhaps pity. There are so many hurt/comfort opportunities between these two.
Pale King/Grimm: Pale King is a ruler of a kingdom. Grimm represents the end of kingdoms. These two are both well versed in the ways of proper etiquette so outright showing how they would feel about each other would be smothered under thousands of layers of arbitrary rules. Which is why Grimm is like “nah fuck that.” They just have a great dynamic and lowkey mutual respect for each other as higher beings. The Pale King has the power to rid himself of Grimm if he wanted and because he hasn’t it says a lot of things to Grimm.
now with Hornet and Grimm I can’t see them being comfortable around each other at all. I think Grimm would at most consider her a viable dancer but not as great as the little Knight is. There is little about Hornet that would automatically earn Grimm’s respect and interest (Brumm is a member of his Troupe, PK is a god, PV was a failed vessel for the Radiance). Hornet on the other hand has been alone the majority of her life, traversing Hollownest and dunking on motherfuckers who try to make things worse than they already are. Hornet knows her strength (ex: holding off on entering the Black Egg until the right moment) and she would not march up to the Troupe and challenge Grimm unless she had the power to. If Grimm’s Troupe was a threat I think Hornet would be able to take down the troupe members, but would never confront Grimm himself.
The second issue is that living a life of solitude where you can only rely on yourself really messes a person up. Hornet hates being vulnerable and even more being seen vulnerable (ex: the encounter you have with her after killing Herrah), so she would never let her guard down for, not just Grimm, but for anyone.. Even with Lace/Hornet I can’t see it beyond an intense rivalry with their needles at each other’s throats and both constantly trying to one-up the other.
So I think it’s more about how Hornet is not the type of personality to get into the sort of relationship I vibe with. I think Grimm’s whole aesthetic would just stress her out and I don’t think Grimm would ever view her more than in a neutral light. Sure she’s a spunky little demi-god with huffy issues like her dad, but her huffiness is more centered in deep unresolved trauma than optional courtly guidelines and that’s no fun to tease with.
But! That doesn’t mean that Grimm/Hornet isn’t feasible! Most of Hollow Knight ships are based off of speculation and inferences of character which lead to so many fun interpretations of what certain relationships could be. I can appreciate people shipping Grimm/Hornet because it’s something you can enjoy! Gatekeeping ships in fandoms is shit and you’re allowed to do what you want to do if it makes you happy (as long as it isn’t pedophilic in nature :/). If you have headcanons that make Grimm/Hornet work then go ahead and continue having fun!

** headcanon based one-shot written by myself of the day Hayley’s adoptive parents kicked her out after she became a werewolf
** set 17th July 2004 (she’s thirteen years and one month old)
** triggers: child abandonment, body horror
Hayley kept her head down and her arms wrapped around herself, clasped onto each bicep, as she walked down the street, hyperaware of the sound of every footstep and the birds in the trees – were they louder or was she only imagining it? – and conscious of the eyes that might be watching her from the windows. It was really early in the morning, probably not even time for her dad to go to work, but there would still be people getting up right now and they would be taking interest in her wandering the streets with no shoes. There was the fear that they would recognize she had stolen the jeans and the purple t-shirt from someone’s washing line. But Hayley would not have walked home naked, as she had somehow found herself waking up as in the wooded area behind the neighbourhood.
Finally, she arrived at her house and hurriedly stepped onto the path, the gate creaking loudly – it grated at her ears, sharp and piercing, and why was it so noisy? – and all but running until she got to the porch. The door opened when she was on the last step, her dad appearing. Hayley’s feet seemed to sink into the porch step when she saw the look on his face. She had never seen that look on his face, especially not directed at her – it was horror and fear and something that looked like disgust.
He dropped her schoolbag on the porch and the thud was loud.
“Dad?” Hayley whispered as she grabbed onto the porch stair’s banister to keep herself balanced.
He swallowed, visibly, and she thought she could even hear his throat work. “You need to leave,” he said in a voice that began steady and strong but finished in a whisper to match hers.
It struck her solely in her chest and she felt the same kind of distress she had experienced last night, that tightness that had overtaken her skin even when it seemed like her skin was breaking apart.
Hayley moved forward, her last step onto the porch, and then halted when her dad stepped backwards into the house. Behind him, she could see her mom staring at her with the same expression, her hand held up to her mouth. Neither of them had changed out of their clothes from last night, she noted absently - her dad still in his work suit and her mom wearing the cardigan she had wrapped around Hayley yesterday afternoon when she had burst into tears about Joy while watching the television.
“Mom, I -” Hayley felt her voice choke up. “I – I don’t know what’s happened. What’s going on?”
Her mom shook her head, tears welling up in her eyes.
“You need to go,” her dad repeated, his tone somewhat firmer than it had been before. He stepped in front of her mom to block her from Hayley’s sight. “Now. You can’t stay here.”
No, no, this could not be happening. She could not be getting kicked out. This was – they were her family. They had promised to be her family when they adopted her four years ago. They promised.
“Dad, please, tell me what’s going on,” Hayley begged, a desperation rising up in her.
He looked over his shoulder at her mom and then back to her. “Do you remember last night?”
“I …”
She remembered screaming with the pain when her bones began to inexplicably snap, the white-hot agony that seemed to consume her – she thought she was dying, like Joy, because that was what she deserved after what she did, maybe it was karma – and she remembered her mom and dad screaming too, their voices mingling with her own in the rush of blood and the pounding heartbeat in her ears. And then – nothing. That was the last memory she had until she woke up on the grass, naked, something like blood on her, maybe an hour ago, probably a lot longer. She’d spewed multiple times. Her bones still felt like they were rattling inside of her and she was terrified the pain would come back.
“I don’t understand,” Hayley answered in a hushed voice as the tears blurred her vision, her chin quivering. “I don’t understand what’s going on. What happened to me? What – what’s going on, Dad?”
Her dad took a deep breath, shaky, and then let it out slowly. “You’re a monster,” he declared bluntly.
It felt like a blow, like he had swung his fist at her and knocked her right off the porch. Hayley gasped loudly, the air chocking in her throat, and stared at him with widened eyes. Something was too tight in her chest, a heavy stone sinking into her stomach. What did he mean she was a –
“What?”
“You’re a monster,” he repeated, louder, and his jaw clenched tight in that way it did when he had decided on something and could not be persuaded. “You turned into a monster. You need to leave.”
You turned into a monster.
Involuntarily, without any conscious thought, Hayley stepped forward to approach him at the door, wanting to be close to him, wanting to demand answers – anything! – but her dad slammed the door in her face and when Hayley reached it, all she could do was batter her fists off the wooden frame.
“Dad! Mom! Let me in! MOM!”
Inside, she could hear, somehow, her mom started sobbing and then her dad was crying too. Hayley banged on the door again and tried to twist the doorknob. It had been locked. But then – in spite of the fact it had been locked, she felt it snap loose under her grip and the door swung open to the sight of her mom and dad clinging to each other in the middle of their hall. They both startled at the door’s opening and hurried backwards into the kitchen, still holding one another, their eyes widened with fear as they stared at her. Slowly, Hayley looked down at her hand, the one that had broke the lock, and it felt bizarre, like it wasn’t even her hand, like she was staring at someone else’s body.
“Get out!” her dad screamed, louder than he had ever shouted at her, and Hayley didn’t flinch.
She didn’t feel anything at all. All of a sudden, the distress and the horror and the disbelief had melted into something almost … numb. Like the world was happening around her and she just wasn’t in it.
“Please, p-please,” her mom begged through a harsh sob. “Just - leave us - us alone.”
Leave us alone. They wanted to be left alone. They wanted her to leave. To get out. The words echoed in Hayley’s head. It was her worst fear, her nightmare, the thing that had kept her awake so many nights before and after the adoption, and her mom and dad had sat with her and promised her that she would always have a home with them. That once the adoption was finalized, she would always be their daughter and they would always live together and they would always be a family. Leave us alone.
Hayley had cried with the fear that one day they wouldn’t want her anymore, but now that it was happening all she could feel was a horrible detachment. Logically, she understood what was happening here – or at least the basic part, the part in which they were kicking her out and they were afraid of her; the monster part she still wasn’t comprehending – but there was no emotion impact.
��I’m your daughter,” she said, even her voice sounding distant, odd and disoriented.
“You’re not our daughter,” her dad argued as he straightened up in front of her mom again, staring her down. “Get out of my house. You are not my daughter. You are a monster. You hear me? A monster!” he shouted again, a fury rising in his voice, and still Hayley experienced no flicker of fear.
Taking a step back and then another, she obeyed. Bending down to pick up her schoolbag which she could see was full of clothes, her blue hoodie peeking out the top, she stopped looking at them. Turning around, she made her way down the stairs onto the path. Each footstep felt profound and rattled up her bones and right into her skull. The colours of the garden and the cars and the blue sky seemed too bright and contrasting. She had walked that path every single day for five years and it felt like she had never seen it before. Or maybe she had never seen anything but that path. Maybe she should have always known that she would be walking down it after the house owners told her to leave. Maybe she always had. Hayley blinked at the car when she reached the end and thought, Jenny.
She would go see Jenny.

Family Headcanons w/ Felix (with heavy ship/verse dependencies):
Villager!Felix is an only child (or, has an estranged brother but eh.), As well as Pika!Felix even though he has amnesia, it’s a feeling he remembers. They acknowledge their alts ‘family’ when playing video games, but may not feel the same in person because OOC is Serious Business. It is harder to get found family with him because of his parental urges, independent streak, and to a lesser extent crush tendencies. Undertale!Felix has Asriel. FE13!Felix has an unknown number of siblings from 1(Aversa)-many due to being part of a literal breeding program. While, FE14!Felix has the whopping eight depicted, naturally.
Of any animal crossing characters, I’d say Felix feels the closest of that kind of thing with Resetti as a possible father figure; picking up his lecturing and sense of rules; They share a Birthday as well. (I’m honestly up for plotting as either adopted or even bio father.)
Other chars of a similar age are Tom Nook, and K.K. Slider, but it just hits different with them, especially when he’s past his mid-twenties and outgrown his nastier childhood habits. K.K. is chill, but Tom would definitely know of embarrassing childhood memories.
Eye color and stare might be one of the consistencies; Along with voice of course. Even PikaFelix is capable of carrying that voice in threads should he speak, he’s one of the more meta/universe breaking versions, having literally wished for 4th wall breaking travel....but he still doesn’t remember the human world so fully, so is somewhat fascinated by his alts. Nuzleaf is his father figure, and perhaps Ampharos.
FE14!Felix bears a much stronger resemblance to Mikoto than his alts. He’s also a bit squishier in personality, and dependent, not to the extent of my Kamui muse but he’s got less bite than main verse/only child.
Jules Pardus is heavily Morgan-Based, and usually the oldest, unless he gets siblings from his other dads canon. In the event that Felix is a single parent, however, Saige is his only child.
FE!13 Felix may have had his hair dyed with something natural, when he was young enough that his hair was still light/blond and had not darkened yet, being on the run. Something similar may have happened for FE!14 with the kidnapping, and his true identity may have started to unravel as his hair grew in darker and curled.
FE13!Felix’s mother was plagued with Grima’s sweet tooth, for the rest of her life even, in a much more extreme manner than other verses; Grima’s influence has made his relationships to sweets the same, but much more extreme, dipping off into balance postgame.
A detail that I need to fix with Robin; He is the same age as Felix (HCed 1 year older than Chrom), things worked out as such smash wise. This was also pretty true of Kamui.
I am unsure of what age the FE verses transitioned, but likely later for FE13 (post-child), while FE14 was more immediately, maybe even just pre-game as shit started to hit the fan. This is in contrast with Lucina Pardus, as Felix Pardus probably transitioned before having met Chrom.

interaction guide for alison!

***please be sure to read the note at the end of this guide pertaining to interactions with alison as a muse!***
alison is a complex muse. for the most part, i’d say she is pretty flexible with some limitations ( more on that in the note at the end of this guide ). slice of life plots, romantic/friendship plots, and generally lighthearted interactions are the easiest to start with alison, though angst certainly has its place as well under the right conditions. while alison is very kind, very loving, and overall a fairly soft type of muse, she is also incredibly strong ( not necessarily in a physical sense unless we’re talking about her spy verse ) and, in main verse, will not take kindly to being treated like a pushover. this is important to keep in mind so as to not baby alison and overlook the fact she has gone through a lot to get where she is now.
fashion-related plots — in her main verse, alison is employed by her aunt as a designer for her aunt’s clothing line. it’s not a huge label, but it’s fairly noteworthy, so alison gets to experience quite a significant chunk of the fashion world. as part of her job, she also assists in fashion shows and travels quite frequently to different cities, and in her free time, she runs an art and fashion blog and dabbles in sewing at home. needless to say, fashion inspires alison a lot, so meeting other muses who are involved in the fashion industry or who are also interested generally in fashion would be a nice way for alison to meet them. fashion plots aren’t limited to main verse, either — in high school and in post-high school verse, she’s always looking for ways to make a little extra cash, so if a good opportunity arises, she’ll take it. some ideas below include scenarios where your muse:
works in the fashion industry and meets alison on a business trip ( airport thread anyone? )
is part of a fashion show staff or is a model that works closely with alison ( imagine your muse wearing something alison designed though :weeps: )
needs their outfit tailored. this can be professionally, for example, alison doing part time work as a tailor to make a little extra cash, or casually, like alison is a friend your muse knows can sew and so they ask her to tailor as a favor.
just needs some fashion advice for a big date/event/job interview so they ask alison for input. on the same vein, alison can be your muse’s personal stylists as a job too !!
works in the same office as alison at the fashion firm and collaborates with her on a design
works in the same office as her and just hates her because your muse thinks she got handed everything to her bc the ceo of the company is her aunt
asks alison to design something for them, whether that be an outfit for a special occasion ( prom dress, wedding dress, suit, costume, ect ) or something for a fashion show!
art/music/photography related plots — fashion and art go hand-in-hand when it comes to alison’s inspirations and big interests. she dabbles in a lot of hobbies, and while she’ll go through phases where one interest may wane while the other waxes, painting, playing the piano, and taking photographs are three big hobbies that will always be close to her heart. my favorite plots involve alison being able to express herself creatively through her artwork, and allowing another muse to see her artwork is a fairly intimate interaction tbh just because alison doesn’t usually share much about her hobbies to others aside from “oh yeah, i do x,y,z for fun sometimes.” some plots under this category involve scenarios where your muse:
talks to alison about shared interests such as watercolors, sketching, photography, or music ( specifically piano )
encounters alison while she’s painting, drawing, playing the piano, or taking pictures. photography especially is a big one since she runs her fashion and art blog, and i wouldn’t put it past her to run like a food/travel instagram either so she’s always taking photos !!
asks alison to take their photo ( or a photo of them and their crew ) just because they can’t do it themselves and surprise it turns out alison takes some bomb ass photos
is alison’s art muse. this can be that they pose for a sketch/painting or, if we wanna get interesting, your muse actually allowing alison to paint on their body since i headcanon that alison experiments with body art to make some really powerful creations before photographing the model to add to her portfolio.
asks alison to be their art muse ( which, would get her v flustered bc she never thought she’d be someone’s muse, ever. but she’d also be very flattered ).
gets piano lessons from alison
asks alison to take pictures for their prom/wedding/graduation/just because they want a photoshoot !!!!
asks alison to play piano for their super special fancy event that has live music !!!!
post-high school verse plots ( trigger warnings may be applicable ) — post-high school is where the bulk of alison’s time as a sex worker is spent, either when she’s with her ex-boyfriend grant or after they broke up since she continues to do sex work to support herself even after she leaves him. sex work for alison includes a variety of activities including prostitution, escorting, and sugaring ( being a sugar baby ), so plots in this verse are not limited to sexual encounters. in fact, i’ve had a lot of fun discussing with other muns plots and relationships that started out in a post high school setting but evolved into a new canon for alison where she finds her footing and breaks away from sex work in a manner different from her actual canon!! in other words, post-high school verse is the point in alison’s life where significant events can really change the course of alison’s life, so interesting things can really come out of interactions started in this verse. this verse does canonically have a lot of triggers due to the nature of alison’s relationship with grant, but we definitely don’t have to delve into that dark side if you don’t want to <3 some plot ideas under this category involve scenarios where your muse:
is one of alison’s clients ( regular or first time ). being a client of alison’s is such a broad plotting point with so many possibilities that i’m just going to put some plot bunnies all in this bullet point: 1) it can be an instance of your muse paying alison to be their first sexual encounter for whatever reason you choose; 2) a misunderstanding where someone else paid alison to come visit your muse but your muse actually has no interest in sex with her. but maybe they could just hang out with her maybe? gives more sustenance to the plot than her just going home lmao but if she did go home it’s possible this mishap is a conversation starter when they meet again someplace else! 3) your muse could also just be really nice to alison and their encounters start to blur the lines between business, a casual relationship, and something romantic. in any case, they spend a lot of time with each other, so they get to know each other real well. again, can be romantic or no strings attached, though the latter will probably be difficult for alison in the long run. 4) your muse and alison regularly hang out and chat in exchange for payment or gifts; why your muse decides to pay for company is up to you. this plot has potential for a very pure sugar baby relationship, no sex needed. 5) tries to be a savior and financially supports alison so she doesn’t have to do sex work anymore, or at the very least, allow her more of a means to find her footing so that she can decide where she wants to take her life. these are just some ideas, but you’re never limited to them. a client/sex worker relationship doesn’t have to be a bad experience for either muses, and the basic idea i’m getting at is that the dynamic can be sexual or just your muse looking for company and some affection in exchange for money or some other gift. there’s definite possibility for platonic relations here since sugaring isn’t always sexual. whether or not grant is still in the picture can also impact this plot idea and change it radically too, so more options for you if you’d like!
is in need of a fake date/girlfriend. this can be a one time thing or a regular thing. to add onto this — if it’s a regular thing, a “breaking up” plot when alison decides to move on from being a sex worker is a possibility, and your muse can either handle this really well and support her decision to pursue something else, or they can freak out and things turn toxic because they become unhealthily attached and possessive of her.
attended the same university as alison and notices a few things. post-high school verse does include a short period in time in which alison is a university student, so it’s possible for your muse to have befriended her in a class, and as such, they might notice that she stops coming to class suddenly. they can then run into her a while later and asks her about it, or they can actually find out what kind of work she’s been doing somehow while attending school despite alison telling your muse she does something else.
talks a lot of shit about alison and spreads nasty rumors about her while she’s still enrolled in college, which kind of helps her find more clients but also just really negatively affects her image too ( and she confronts your muse about it )
high school verse plots ( trigger warnings may be applicable ) — high school verse holds the bulk of alison’s interactions with cedric and nate. this verse also has a lot of triggering details since quite frankly, cedric and nate are actually terrible people. heavy plots containing serious matters can come from this verse, but lighthearted school plots can also come from this verse! below are some some ideas in which your muse:
knows about how much of a asshole cedric is being to alison and tries to convince her to break up with him.
knows that nate is harassing/blackmailing alison and gets involved somehow.
protects alison during high school because bullies just love to pick on her for no reason, so they become her protector of sorts.
is one of alison’s bullies. can either run with the drama and use that to make life even more difficult for alison, or they can have a change of heart where they realize how much nate and cedric fucked over alison.
is one of alison’s close friends in high school; can be a classmate, an upperclassman, an underclassman, someone she only sees during clubs or at lunch.
is a teacher alison learns to trust and really confide in, especially when it comes to her life at home, her relationships, or her assault. can extend this plot idea out to older muses in general who alison may learn to trust!!
has a crush on alison uwu she may be dating cedric canonically, but we can work something out. it’s not like cedric was faithful to alison anyway—
royalty/aristocrat verse plots — alison does have a royalty verse with very, very, basic information fleshed out, but i’m not super attached to what’s written in her royalty verse. i mostly enjoy writing royalty threads with alison due to how regal she is in her mannerisms, so i really like writing her as someone with royalty status uwu. this sentiment can extend to plots where alison is some sort of aristocrat as well, but a rags to riches story ( or vice versa ) is also fun since that’s kind of what happens to alison and her family anyway in canon. so please consider plots in which your muse:
has a forbidden relationship with princess alison and the two of you have to keep it a secret and work through whether your relationship will last or not ( bodyguard/princess; princess/princess; princess/prince who isn’t the one she’s arranged with; princess/commoner )
is arranged to marry princess alison but she’s so anti-arranged marriage that she doesn’t even want to look at you let alone talk to you ( or the reverse — your muse just refuses to acknowledge alison )
holds the princess hostage for ransom ( could be money, could be something revolutionary like wanting the royal family to change laws to benefit the people )
helps alison conceive a child. as much as alison wants to have a child, conceiving a child can be incredibly difficult even under the best conditions, and with how much weight is put on a woman for conceiving the next heir, stress can make it even more difficult to conceive. so :eyes: how your muse helps her is up for discussion.
other verse/au/wishlist plots — in addition to royalty verse, alison also has an alternate verse, a werewolf verse ( note: this isn’t an abo/omegaverse setting even though i do draw elements from this verse ), and a spy verse. the wishlist tag is also another option if anything strikes your fancy!
alternate verse — this is a very general verse that essentially captures interactions in which the canon events of alison’s high school and post high school events do not happen. additionally, alternate verse alison was raised differently from canon alison such that she was not socialized to uphold traditional feminine gender roles. in other words, she was not discouraged from acting more tomboyish as a kid, and she was not raised in a strict environment that forced her to act a certain way and as such, alison’s trajectory in life is very different. alternate alison is more aggressive, more forward, and she can be a bit of a misandrist. she tends to be more social than canon alison in the sense that she’ll go clubbing, partying, and barhopping more readily, and her career path is a little less developed ( re: she’s not tied down to a fashion job and can take on all sorts of work depending on what makes sense for a thread ).
werewolf verse — a post explaining the basics of this verse can be found here! alison’s in this verse is a blend of canon and alternate alison in how she acts. because she was raised without a pack for most of her life, her only family being her brother, emile, alison learned to carry herself like an alpha even though she’s an omega, which leads to a lot of problems when she meets other, actual alphas who try to hit on her or take control. this is where alternate alison’s aggression can come in. on the contrary, canon alison’s maternal instinct and affectionate nature becomes apparent whenever werewolf alison decides to eventual settle with a serious partner, whether that be another werewolf she’s bonded with ( up to mun’s decision whether bonding is a thing in our thread ), or someone else she loves. i’d like to re-emphasize that this is not a true omegaverse even though i do categorize muses as alphas, omegas, or betas, mention bonding between werewolves, nesting, heat/rut, and the use of suppressants to control the severity of heat. the description of these topics, however, are very tame as the focus of this verse is not unhealthy power imbalances or plotless smut. this verse exists bc werewolves are cool, and also because the idea of bonding between partners is where i find the most interest since true bonding really embodies the “to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until parted by death” sentiment in marriage vows except even to a more serious degree. so yeah — werewolves. have your werewolf meet mine. she can take care of yours or you know, keep them company.
spy verse — also known as handler and hound verse on this blog due to reasons. this is essentially an espionage verse in which alison is a rather high ranking field agent. she’s older in this verse than in canon ( 31 vs. 24, though her age in spy verse can vary depending on plot ), and is technically engaged to her agency assigned partner. this verse opens up the opportunity for morally grey muses to interact with her. the best way to learn more about this verse is to read this link which should outline all the details you should know about this verse’s setting, this link for a tl;dr ( not recommended ) and look through the verse tag for aesthetics and answered asks set in this verse!
miscellaneous plots — these are plots that don’t fall into a defined category for whatever reason ( mostly because they aren’t developed yet ) but i’d still love to explore them <3
future plot — i think about this a lot because i have such an immense love for alison, but i’ve headcanoned that once alison is older, she becomes a very big advocate for sex workers those who have been in domestically abusive relationships with a romantic partner. it takes her years to find the courage to share her story, but after years of volunteering at women’s shelters and doing charity work, she eventually finds her calling to take things a bit further. it’s possible your muse encounters alison during her volunteer work or while she’s a guest speaker sharing her story at some event. really though, i think it’d be interesting for muses to interact with alison when she’s a lot older since she’d have so much time at this point to process her trauma and, hopefully, seek the help she needs.
angel plot — alison is an angel and is very much one to stick by the rules and be good. a big contrast to leah’s angel verse in which leah is childish and does whatever the fuck she wants. angel alison is more experienced and is regarded as a good angel, but her curiosity about romantic love might get her into trouble.
childhood plot — alison is a tomboy who kicks ass; the older she is, the more feminine she’ll be ( unless it’s alternate alison, in which she only gets more aggressive ); your muse is an older muse or a fellow child who interacts with her ( male child muses beware! she’ll make you eat dirt if you aren’t nice to her or emile! )
single mother plot — this would straight up be a self-indulgent plot for me to be able to play alison as a mother. she absolutely adores kids, and while the circumstances in which she has a kid in this plot wouldn’t be ideal, she’d love her kid with all her heart, and this would allow your muse to help her raise her child, try for a romantic relationship with her, or maybe they’re the other parent??? just tossing thoughts around, i just really love alison as a mom :weep:

now that you’ve made it to the end of the guide, please read this important note about alison before interacting with her!
tl;dr — please respect my muse and don’t force scenarios that would not make sense for her to be in on me. she’s a fairly flexible muse, but i will not ignore specific, canon, character traits just to make a plot work. i��m open to discussions regarding how to make an idea work ( which includes perhaps using one of alison’s other verses ), but please don’t assume. also read her character bio — this is a must ( trigger warnings are included ).
like i’ve said before, alison is a very complex muse. i’d like to think she’s a fairly flexible muse but with some limitations as a result of her experiences. if you’ve read alison’s biography ( which you should have, and in fact, i expect you to since it’s very crucial to her as a muse ), you’d know she has been through a lot of traumatic events. as such, she has developed certain mannerisms, tendencies, and thought processes as a result of what she has been through. these behaviors, such as being very wary of men when she’s alone with them in a setting that goes beyond a normal, casual interaction ( e.g. a man ringing her up at a cash register at a store ), are engrained in her character, and it takes a lot of time and trust building for her to change any behavioral patterns she may have.
i say this to preface the fact that if you have any plot ideas you’d like to share with me, please take into consideration whether it makes sense for alison in her canon verse if that’s the verse you’re interested in. canon alison, in short, is not the type to form casual, sexual relationships. if this is what you’re looking for, look elsewhere. there are exceptions to this, but these exceptions have involved a lot of plotting to make it work and make sense. i could say more on the matter, but for now, i’ll just say that alison behaves very different depending on what period of life she is in. as such, canon/main verse alison behaves differently than post-high school alison, who behaves differently than high school alison. alternate, werewolf, and spy verse alison behaves even more radically different than the former three. so you certainly have options if you’re really interested in a specific plot for alison! i’m very open to ideas, but i ask that you also respect my muse and what she’s been through as well since i’ve worked hard on her backstory.

About the Muse: My Version of Vision On This Blog
{out of equations} Alright, folks… here is the information that is in Vision’s “About the Muse” page, for people who are on mobile and can’t view/access blog pages. If you think you would like to rp with me, or you already are and just would like to have some more information, please read this general “About the Muse” post, as well as my NSFW Headcanons post, if you are 18+ of course.
I largely follow the movie verse canon for Vision. Where I may draw from the comics a bit is for some aspects of his relationship with Wanda. Some of them. There was a lot about the comic story arcs with them and the creation of a family of “Visions” that I don’t use on this blog. Besides that, the reason why my version of Vision is canon-divergent has to do with his physical construction, how he can manipulate his physical body, and what he is capable of.
{ Vision’s Physical Construction }
My interpretation of “The Vision” is that he is a bio-organic synthezoid. This is different from being a robot or machine, and different entirely from being a cyborg. A cyborg by most definitions is something that was once human and is now heavily augmented with machine technology either to sustain life or enhance activity (examples: Robocop; Raiden of the Metal Gear franchise). With cyborgs there is a good chance of most of the body being human or derived from humans or at the very least, the head, brain, and spinal column of a human are likely to be present. Vision is not a cyborg, as he was never human, is not derived from a human body and is not meant to function as an actual human being. He does not have human organs, systems, or a brain as one would expect a human should have, unless he chooses to change his body construction to emulate such things (I’ll get more into that later). He is also not an android, which is a true machine that is only meant to look and maybe behave human, even though most of his body is constructed of vibranium metal. As a synthezoid, Vision has intermixed with vibranium atoms a bio-polymeric cellular tissue which confers much of his abilities to change his density, change his form, and emulate human biological activities. As mentioned by Dr. Helen Cho in Avengers: Age of Ultron, the vibranium atoms in Vision's body have bonded with the cells printed by the regeneration cradle. This created a synthezoid: a synthetic or synthesized organism (rather than one which is born naturally) that is not human but no less alive.
My concept of Vision’s body is that it is mostly vibranium, making him virtually indestructible as he was in the films, but with about 30-40% of his body mass being composed of organic bio-polymer and cellular tissue. What do I mean by that? Well, polymers are groups of monomers (think small building blocks of life) that are bonded together, sometimes in impermanent fashions. So think about basic biology in which nucleic acids comprise DNA and amino acids comprise proteins. Small building blocks that, when combined, can function as higher components of life. I headcanon that Vision essentially has organic matter (carbon-based materials that typically also contain hydrogen, oxygen, and water), interspersed with the vibranium ions that comprise his body. “Organic matter” or “NOM” (natural organic matter) is material that is derived from or resulting from the degradation of living things, but I headcanon that Vision’s organic matter is unique in that it was never alive previously, but rather was sythezised in the regeneration cradle. It is the result of his unique construction and a combination of synthesis and condensation processes that occurred when he was “born.”
As he was being created, the combination of the vibranium, electricity, a semi-sentient influx of energy from Ultron, Jarvis, etc. created a bio-electric field that attracted carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen to it. As these elements became fused with the otherwise mechanical components of his body during his “birth,” condensation reactions occurred that created water and a kind of organic matter which bonded to the vibranium and other metal matrices of his composition. The result was a kind of perfect storm that coated Vision’s “cells” as printed by the cradle with this bio-polymeric substance, much like how life was first created on Earth by introducing electricity into pools containing water and many other elements mixed together. Think about essentially growing living tissue in Petri dishes not derived from any living thing previously, except that for Vision this happened somewhat uniformly throughout his body during the course of his construction and “birth.” What this boils down to, is that I headcanon that Vision is actually a living being, just not human. He is a new and unique form of life that was made (synthesized) rather than born naturally of other living things. A synthezoid.
It is this organic matter forming these bio-polymeric substances that permeates Vision’s body that mediates so many things that he is able to do, emulate, learn, and create. His ability to change his body’s density from a heavy and dense metal to a thinly-dispersed gas is what allows him to phase. On a molecular level, this living network of organic material running throughout his body acts a lot like a system of neurons as far as physical function is concerned, working in tandem with actual wires to convey information from his CPU ("central processing unit" in computer language, but like a brain) to the rest of his body, much in the way a human brain would command control over the whole of a human body. It is more adaptable, polymorphic, fluid, and convertible a material than the vibranium metal, allowing for the mediation of all of Vision’s abilities which involve changing his density, appearance, and shape. The bio-polymeric substances within his body “tissue” are also what allow him to feel pain and pleasure, what can allow him to learn how to taste, and what allow him to not only process emotions on a rational and informational level but also to legitimately learn to feel them. Were he made of solid metal, a true machine/computer/AI instead of a living bio-machine, none of this would be possible.
Also, fun fact: Vision’s body temperature tends to run hotter than humans, due to biological and electrical systems working in tandem and drawing from the power of the mind stone. His average resting-state body temperature is around 100-101°C, and his emotionally and/or physically ramped-up temperature is around 105-106°C. This makes him an excellent heater in the winter if you can get him to hug you or share a bed with you, haha.
{ Emulating Everyday Human Emotions and Activities }
When he is first “born,” Vision behaves much like a machine, computer, or AI. But from that moment on, he is learning and adapting to a multitude of stimuli, ideas, and human responses that he is processing. He is not an AI, because that implies a true machine that can only “learn” up to a certain point by employing probability algorithms and imitation techniques. It also implies that he can only learn to emote as a result of compiling data from the reactions of human beings around him rather than emoting because he genuinely feels a certain way. Human children learn from their parents, from other children, etc., what emotions are and how to navigate social situations. Vision’s learning process is somewhere in between a straight AI and a human child. Like the AI, he is compiling, analyzing, and comparing data constantly. In addition to what he is exposed to firsthand, Vision also can access the internet, so he has access to eBooks, Google, YouTube, online encyclopedias, government websites, and other educational tools. However, like a human child, Vision is a living being who is being exposed to so many things for the first time and struggling to find his place among it all. So there is a heightened capacity for knowledge and an ability to process and retain it, but there is also a naivety and innocence with regard to his trial-and-error learning process that sometimes can seem very human. Combine that with a desire to develop his own personality and unique identity but having no others of his own kind to relate to, and we have one very curious and potentially lonely being who soaks up knowledge like a sponge.
As a result of how he learns and processes information, and due to his unique and adaptable physical structure, Vision can learn how to participate in various human activities such as eating, drinking, laughing, participating in activities purely for sport or fun, and even having sex (see the “NSFW” section), even though he has no mechanical or biological need to do so. Whereas in humans these abilities are built into our physical structure and somewhat wired into our brains to be able to learn how to do at certain ages either through instruction or on instinct, Vision must actually learn these things backwards. He sees how humans do these things and much back-calculate and back-create physical structures in order to perform them himself.
For example, with eating and drinking, Vision has no real digestive system, as he does not need to process food to survive. His functions are powered by a combination of the mind stone and solar power. However, he can alter his form to create a tongue with which to taste, an esophagus, and some internal structure to house what he eats and drinks. From there, processing is probably far more ideal than a human system because there is no need for nourishment or fear of toxicity, and so food and drink are broken down into the most basic of components, which are then added to his structure (in the case of carbon, hydrogen, etc.) or released as gas or water vapor through ventilation ducts or through his “breathing.” This means there is no excrement or need for him to ever go to the bathroom, as it were. As far as being able to taste, Vision would always be able to determine the chemical composition of whatever he is ingesting, but to actually taste it in any way similar to how humans do would require a redirection of synapses to a tongue structure (probably in combination with an olfactory system in his nose as well, since smell and taste are strongly linked). Again, he would need to study exactly what is going on and then work backwards to create structures and systems within his own body to perform the functions.
And of course, since he does not actually need to eat or drink, he would do so only on occasion, probably as a bonding practice with friends or a romantic ship. Unfortunately, however, I’ll just throw in here that Vision cannot become drunk or high. His body processes things far too efficiently and thoroughly for any effect to last and such chemicals do not affect his “brain” or bodily functions in the same way they do in humans.
{ Emulating Human Appearance }
The way Vision achieves his human-like exterior in Avengers: Infinity War is through physical alterations to the shape and consistency of the outer layers of his body combined with an imaging overlay, similar to a holographic illusion. This creates the tactile perception of flesh or clothing while also maintaining the aesthetic of those materials as well.
To achieve the feel of flesh, Vision can increase the ratio of bio-polymer and cellular tissue to vibranium in the outer layers of his body – a similar process to changing his density - making those areas of his body actually more organic and therefore more flesh-like. This gives it a softer feel, just like human flesh. To achieve the feel of clothing, Vision can learn the coarseness, pattern, fiber construction, and stiffness of certain fabrics to emulate their feel by again, changing the ratio of organic matter to vibranium in the outer, visible layers of his body.
But that only changes tactile perception in any other beings that might touch him. He’d still feel like flesh or like a human body wearing clothing, but he would still look like a red/purple/gold/graphite-colored synthezoid. Vision’s largely dark red color comes from the organic matter matrixed in with the vibranium metal. Have you ever seen a raw steak? You know that dark red color it has when it’s raw and fresh? And then you see it after it’s cooked and it turns anywhere from a gray to brown to black color depending on how it’s cooked and for how long? That has to do with the oxidation and degradation of the components of the cells in the tissues themselves. I headcanon the same sort of thing occurred when Vision died, only it was a more instant process, probably due to the whole of his system being shocked violently from the power of the mind stone as it was ripped from his head, causing catastrophic systematic failures as well as an essential electrical burning of the organic matter in his body. Essentially… Vision was “flash fried,” in addition to being completely shut down. Standing near him shortly after his death, one could probably smell a strong metallic odor combined with the faint but distinct odor of burnt flesh. But, I digress.
To achieve the look of flesh, Vision employs an illusion overlay. This is similar to holographic technology in that an image is created to mask the appearance of the outer layers of his body. It’s integrated very well onto his surface and combined with the changes to his actual form and tactile feel, the illusion will “behave” like the flesh or clothing it is supposed to look like when it is touched. This takes care of the aesthetic, while the morphing takes care of shape and feel.
{ Why the Attack in Edinburgh Stopped Vision From Phasing }
Vision’s ability to change his shape and appearance, to change his density, and to phase through solid objects hinges upon the complex electro-organic relaying network of synapses throughout his body. Guided by wiring and electricity but performed by the organic components of his structure, his ability to do any of these things requires that he is able to send signals from his “brain” to the rest of his body to will it to change form. If that network is disrupted, damaged, or interfered with, he loses the ability to manipulate his form at will.
Think about a human being who is electrocuted, with the electrical energy traveling throughout the body, conducted by the water contained in blood, muscle cells, etc., and essentially burning things as it goes along. They become stunned and unable to move for a time because of the damage. The greater the shock, the greater the damage on a cellular level and the longer the stun effect will be. Similar to using a stun gun on a person too. The higher the voltage, the greater the stopping power and also the damage to the person being stunned. The same is true of Vision if his “neural” network is disturbed by energy capable of damaging the organic bio-polymeric material that laces his structure on a molecular level and is an essential component in the synapse relay that allows him to control his form.
Because Vision is powered by an infinity stone and made in large part of virtually indestructible vibranium, it would take some kind of magic, energy, weapon, force, etc. with a decent energy-disruption power to mess with the synapse relay throughout his body. So when Corvus Glaive stabbed him with his weapon, it not only created a physical wound through Vision’s form, but it shut down the changes to his form and illusion overlay he had been employing to look human. We actually saw the overlay decay from the wound outward, indicating that the closed-loop system of relays that makes such a thing possible for him had been disrupted and rendered no longer functional. His own admission that the weapon prevented him from phasing indicates that his complex electro-organic relay system that allows him to morph and alter his density at will has been significantly damaged.
{ Vision’s Psychology & Evolution }
Vision is a new being, initially Ultron’s Vision, but a combination of Ultron, Jarvis, the mind stone, and other sentience that contributed to his “birth.” But he has never lived before. This renders him very ignorant, naïve, and lacking in experience-based knowledge and abilities, even though he has access to the internet and is to a large extent born with the maturity level of an adult human. Some might assume that he is an all-knowing being that knows better than humans on a number of topics based on how he presents himself. The way he presents himself is as one who is very calm and wise. However, Vision is far from infallible. He has flaws and makes mistakes just like anyone else.
Although a strong and confident being, Vision does have a few insecurities. He wants very much to be considered alive and of equal value and importance to his human counterparts. If told often enough that this is not true, if he is referred to as a machine or a computer or a sentient toaster, or if he is referred to as “it,” he will react emotionally. And negatively. In extreme cases he may begin to question whether he is actually alive and begin searching for evidence of it, whether informationally in books and on the internet, or subjectively by soliciting the opinions of the humans (or other beings) around him, specifically humans he had related to on a personal level.
Being potentially denied validation as a truly living being deserving of the same rights and freedoms as other living beings is his largest insecurity, but he does have others. Wanting to please Wanda and worrying that she may not want a more involved relationship with him in Infinity War, for example, makes him nervous and approval-seeking. This is seen in his adorable stumbling over his words and then his addition of the qualifying statement, “…or not, if I’m overstepping.” By this point in his life, Vision had begun to evolve considerably, developing not merely the emulations of emotion, but true emotions he feels.
Vision’s evolution was not something expected by the Avengers. When he was “born,” Vision was considered and regarded as an android, a true machine, an artificial intelligence. Later comments from others about the fact that he appears to be “evolving,” indicate that he is adapting and growing both in his range of abilities and with regard to his psychology and personality. I headcanon that this occurred not only because the longer he lives, the more he experiences and the more people he encounters, but also because the longer he is alive, the longer he is interacting with his environment on a molecular level. The longer Vision exists, the more carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, etc. are integrated into his structure, during ingestion, respiration, or any other number of activities. This causes his body composition to slowly become more organic overall as time goes on. I don’t mean he’s suddenly going to turn completely human or something, it’s more subtle than that. Like a rock that grows a very fine layer of moss on it. The rock is the same, it just… gains something else. But the more organic his composition becomes, the more Vision behaves and evolves like a living organism. Had he survived past Infinity War, we would have seen him evolve even more.
Vision displays his own independence and personality very early on, within minutes of being “born.” He emulates Thor’s cloak, making a cloak of his own. While it is unclear as to why he does this, one can assume that he either wanted to fit in with those around him for the purpose of gaining acceptance or that he merely liked the aesthetic and chose to adopt it for himself. To do this, he had to figure out how to alter his own form very early on in his creation. Although a simple act, it shows critical and independent thinking as well as individuality.
Something else Vision can begin to suffer from is loneliness, despite being surrounded by the Avengers, by scientists and doctors, by maintenance workers, and by technical staff. This is because he is the only one of his kind, and that is a very isolating and lonely feeling. Try as he might to relate to others, he remains very much alone in his existence and learning processes, which can make him a little sad. This is why he bonds so closely with Wanda, who is away from home, has led a very sheltered life, is new to many things in the world, has lost everyone she was familiar with and cared about, and is new to the Avengers’ team. She is someone with whom he can confide in as far as having a vastly different perspective on things that may not meld as well as others’.

sam canonically brushes shoulders with if not actively participates in very triggering concepts, & my portrayal will be true to that. this blog will be trigger heavy in that regard, containing themes such as depression, self harm, disordered eating, nightmares, blood, gore, violence, death / dead bodies, gruesome deaths / torture, disturbing themes such as blood drinking, exorcisms, possession, rituals, religious themes, general horror, etc, as according to canon. i will not go into unnecessary detail concerning these, but i won’t be skimming over them either, so please proceed with caution when you follow, if you follow at all.
if any of these things disturbs you, it’d be best that you didn’t, though, for your own peace of mind. due to how prevalent this content will be, it’s unlikely that things won’t fall through the cracks even though i will be trying to tag everything appropriately ( cw trigger // ). however, if one of these triggers stands out to you especially, i am willing to make an extra effort in order to rp with you. <3
