How does Wallace cope with the loss of his mother? We know he throws himself into the hunting life and finding a solution to Will's deal, but how does he feel about the fact that he lost his mom?

oh goodness. he's not necessarily coping at all. is mostly letting it all just kind of fester inside of him. bottles it up and shoves it behind a door in his head. doesn't even want to think about it. it's different to when he lost bill. he'd only been one when his dad died. after that, the harvelle's hadn't really lost anyone. had no family besides themselves to really lose in the first place. so when he lost both jo and ellen at the same time it was a shell shock to him. he'd tried to run into that building but hadn't been able to because he'd been tackled to the ground by dean or sam or will, he still doesn't actually know. all he does know is that he had to watch his mother die.

truthfully, wallace has nightmares about it nightly. most of the reason why he doesn't sleep anymore. aside from the fact his head's always in a lore book for will. but anytime he closes his eyes? he's reminded he couldn't save the woman that gave him life. the woman that took care of him up until the day she died. the woman that loved him no matter what. it was practically like losing a part of himself that wallace didn't even realize was there. like a part of him is now gone along with her. he'll never be whole again. not really. so now he fights for will. and he fights for jo. he tries to make up for all the failures he thinks he's done by not doing more to protect his mother and sister that night.

the day ellen died? in some ways . . . wallace died with her.

do not think about the fact that wallace has lost so much in his life he finds it hard to let anyone in. hence the very heavy walls he has around himself and pretty much pushes anyone and everyone away that's not his siblings or someone he was already relatively friendly with. he's so scared that he will have to say goodbye to someone else and wallace, really, cannot handle anymore goodbyes. had said it more times than he ever should have to at his age. especially right now while he's trying hard to find a way to get will out of his deal. so if wallace lets you in even the slightest bit? don't fuck it up because you won't get a second chance at getting behind his walls.

whenever wallace is back home from a hunt, he will go and stop into sonny's safehouse. see her and check on her because he hadn't seen her in days and she'd been on his mind the whole time he was gone. sonny is pretty much his anchor outside of his siblings and he feeds off it more than he'd ever let on.

wallace has a tattoo in honor of ash because he was like a second brother to him. it's a little rock hand symbol with a bit of ash beneath him to represent his name and the type of vibes that they always listened to together. every year on ash's birthday he'll light a candle for him and play one of the albums they'd listen to in the roadhouse

he actually used to have such a good morning routine before his life exploded ( literally ). he'd go to the gym, come home and have breakfast with ellen, help out around the roadhouse for a little bit before he'd go tinker with his bike. lounge around and bug will or jo when they were around. and now . . . now he doesn't know what routine is. you're lucky if the kid even goes to bed at this point. his sleep schedule is fucked. he considers hunting his gym now. if he's not working the roadhouse or the garage, he's holed up in his room surrounded by lore books. eating? mostly only happens if he gets a bad enough headache that reminds him he skipped a meal. boy's a hot mess in his main verse. someone come slap him upside the head please.

he's got . . .

a jagged one on his right hand from he accidentally broke a case of beer behind the bar at the roadhouse and tried to clean it up before ellen, jo or will could notice. he'd done so a little too quickly and he'd sliced his hand on one of the bottles in the box. needless to say ellen was more upset about the ER visit than she was about the lost case of beer.

one hidden by his eyebrow on his left side from when he'd been tackled during ellen and jo's death. his face cut on a piece of the debris that shot out and it never fully healed.

the day ellen and jo died was the start of his loss of innocence. to this day he could still hear his own screams echoed in his head and the feel of will tackling him to the ground before he could get to the near exploding building. will selling his soul just added to the darkness that wallace now saw in this world. he never had a full innocent life thanks to his father being a hunter and wallace following in the family footsteps of hunting. but losing his mom and sister and then find out he could be losing his brother next? it broke him in ways that even glue couldn't fix up again.

WALLACE + THE WINCHESTERS

for a long time after wallace found out john had been the reason bill died, he hated the winchester siblings. cursed their names under the sun until he was blue in the face. and then . . . he realized that they weren't john. they didn't kill his father, john's selfishness and stupidity did. so he forgave them without ever really telling them he even hated them in the first place. no one had to know about it except wallace himself and will who he'd ranted to time and again about it.

then his mother and sister died. and . . . honestly? even now he doesn't hate them, not really. they hadn't been the ones to make ellen and jo do what they did. they chose that for themselves. and as much as wallace wants to blame it on the winchesters because they wouldn't have even been in that situation if it weren't for them . . . he couldn't find it in himself to hate them. if not for anything more than for his mother and sister. especially jo who he knew thought the world of dean.

wallace can't really control how his brother feels about them, even if he's tried to talk to will about it a few times now. telling him that ellen and jo wouldn't want either of them to hate the brothers the way will now does. will's going to feel how he feels about it and wallace wants to support him in that. he doesn't want to make will do anything he doesn't want to do because he knows how well that ends for everyone.

WALLACE + THE STAPLE JACKET

the jacket. it was a piece of clothing that wallace had stolen from will's room, actually. the jacket was originally bill's and wallace had nothing of his father's after he died. so? wallace stole it from will's room and made it his. and the kid wears the fuck out of the jacket, too. you will never see him without it unless it's the summertime. and when it's hung up? it's neatly hung in the closet by the front door and is the only thing hanging in there so it won't get ruined.

i don't remember if i ever made this an official headcanon but . . .

wallace owns his own garage aside from the roadhouse. it's a little repair shop next to the roadhouse so he could fix up hunter's bikes and cars and whatever else while they're in the roadhouse. it brings in extra money for wallace and his siblings and wallace just . . . loves doing it. he used to keep himself occupied as a teenager with fixing up the silly little red bike that was a birthday present from his mom and even fixing up ellen's car sometimes when it broke down. it's a talent that helps keep his brain from zooming too much when it shouldn't be. or when he needs to escape the roadhouse for a little bit and have some alone time.

hey, besties. don't think about the fact that wallace was barely one years old when bill died so growing up the only father figure wallace really had was will. and cut to wallace NOW where his only father figure is on the cutting slab with his deal's end coming closer and closer and he's just . . . spiraling and it's even MORE of a reason why wallace is so cathartic and reckless when it comes to saving will because NOT ONLY IS WILL HIS BROTHER, BUT HIS IDOL AND THE CLOSEST THING HE'S EVER HAD TO A DAD GROWING UP AFTER BILL DIED
