So here are five, amazing classic lit novels that are not written by straight, white, American/English cis men.
1. Giovanni’s Room - James Baldwin
Honestly, any of Baldwin’s books are amazing and could have a place on this list. This is my favourite, because I find Giovanni such a relatable character. Baldwin’s main goal in a lot of his fiction books is to separate black characters from the tragedy of being black, Giovanni’s Room focuses on two white gay men and it both does this from a gay perspective and doesn’t. On the one hand, a lot of the tragedy regarding the romantic story has happened within heterosexual relationships, and when Giovanni’s is executed (it’s established from the beginning)… it’s clearly because he’s a poor young man who dared to stand up against the rich older man who at best took advantage of him. In some ways, this is more to do with abuse of power from rich old men.
2. Maurice - E. M. Forster
What if I told you… there was a classic queer novel… with a happy ending? And a working class queer character. And isn’t just about rich gay public school boys who keep everything behind closed doors. It took me a little while to get into it because I thought it was going to be just another book about the latter, but it’s not I promise you. It wasn’t published until after E.M. Forster died, which makes sense since it was written fairly close to the Oscar Wilde trial and prior to homosexuality being made legal in the U.K.. Also, It was inspired by Edward Carpenter, socialist, and early gay rights activist.
3. The Lottery - Shirley Jackson
The gif is from The Haunting of Hill House but Nell’s story is extremely fitting to this short story. Thinking about it shakes me to my god damn core. It’s a small creepy village that has a horrifying ritual, no one does horror quite like Shirley Jackson. Similar to the Haunting of Hill House I think a lot of the disturbing nature of it comes from the people so unwilling to listen. The Lottery itself refers to the annual stoning of a person which is a tradition among the villages to ensure the prosperity of the village for another re crops and such. There’s a bit in it where a couple of old men are talking about how other villages have stopped doing the Lottery and how ludicrous that is, with added “young people these days”. This story really gets into the psychology of why people so adamantly stick to tradition and don’t challenge authority. It’s so great.
4. The Dubliners - James Joyce
I actually think this is the most underrated Joyce book, and whilst I’ve heard some people have read it at school I’m extremely jealous. I always hear about Ulysses when this one is significantly easier to read, and I love how each story is about a new every day, normal person living in Dublin. It does not focus on separatism of religion in Ireland (not entirely anyway), and avoids politics almost entirely (excluding when a woman calls a journalist a west Brit). The idea was that like Baldwin Joyce wanted to depict Irish people being normal, and not to he defined by their tragedy, religion, and politics.
5. The Tenant of Wildfel Hall - Anne Brontë
This is the most underrated Brontë sisters’ novel. It’s absolutely iconic. The inspiration for this novel comes from a story that Anne’s father told. He was a priest who was hearing a confession from a married woman who was being horrifically abused by her husband. She didn’t want to leave him because that would he a sin, Anne’s father told her to do it and that God would understand. When you consider how divorce was seen in the 1800s especially in religious circles… that is pretty astounding. That is essentially the main theme of the book without going into too many spoilers, it’s also about how “odd” Helen is considered because she actually shows love and care to her son (which involves a spirited debate about how all children deserve affection and closeness from their mother.)

Carla and the accidental marriage au?
I have actually written a whole fic themed around this before (because accidental marriage is one of my favourite tropes), so if you haven't already, I'd recommend checking out my Forgotten Gods one shot.
I'm afraid I completely gave up with the sentence limit for this one ^^;; Also I set this in a fantasy AU because I just think it's more fun ;)
TW: forced marriage
Five line ask game (now closed)
You really, really should have thought this plan through more.
In all fairness, it's not like you were the only person who'd jumped to conclusions when the dreaded Wizard King of the Frozen North had demanded the local Lord's only daughterーyour dearest and most lovely friendーbe delivered to the border before the week's end, lest the entire population of your small town be subject to his wrath. Everyone knew wizards were pure evil, even if they were almost entirely the subject of legend in current times, the great King Karlheinz having purged most of them from the land. For days the town had been rife with whispers of just what they thought the Wizard King might do to the poor girl, each new theory more awful and twisted than the last, until you could no longer bare it. And so, on the day of the deadline, you'd helped to sneak your friend to a neighbouring village and gone in her place with nothing but a small knife in your boot.
When the Wizard King's servant had arrived, a young man with an eye-patch and a grin that said he meant trouble, it was only the thought of your friend being dragged away in your place that gave you the courage to lie to his face and be led off to what you thought was your doom.
You'd expected any number of things upon being dragged into the white marble palaceーto be tied to a sacrificial altar like the girls in the stories, or thrown into a bubbling cauldron as part of a potion that would bring some great malady to the landーbut not once had it occured to you that you would find yourself tossed into a room fit for royalty and told to dress yourself in a splendid white gown. Perhaps it was part of some dreadful arcane ritual, you'd thought, as you'd slipped the soft fabric over your skin, praying to the gods that your end may at least be a swift one.
You'd kept up your prayer as you'd been led down grand halls lined with exquisite paintings and were presented to both the most beautiful and most terrifying man you'd ever seen in your lifeーa man you were most certain was the Wizard King, for now you'd seen him you could not imagine anyone else bearing the title.
His voice was like rolling thunder as he levelled you with an assessive stare, though you'd been able to focus on his words, too preoccupied with the thought that you’d stupidly left your knife with your clothes一not that you truly thought it would have been enough to harm the man in front of you. No, there was little you could do but accept your fate, knowing that as long as your friend was safe whatever scarifice you'd made was not in vain.
You were lead to yet another chamber, this one granderer than the last, with some arcane altar at the center and you fought back a shudder as the Wizard King took your hands in his own, his skin the same temperature as the frozen wastes surrounding the palace. He began to recite something in a language you'd never heard before and you fought not to shake as you waited for whatever spell he was undoubtedly weaving to wash over you.
What you were not prepared for, however, was for a ring to be slipped over your finger and as a pair of cold lips covered your own.
#Carla Tsukinami#my writing#fantasy AU#five line ask game#honestly this fic is a product of me running on five and a half hours of sleep and a caramel waffle latte#I have no other explanation for it#hopefully it's enjoyable though?#I'm afraid I did go ham on the fantasy but... blame the fantast novel I'm reading rn X'D#fem!reader#sorry but I couldn't work out how to make this one GN

7, 8, 11, 18 pls!!
okay, definitely putting a readmore lol
7: Favourite live performance of a song
Okay, I'm definitely biased on this one, because I LOVE LOVE LOVE the demo version of wonderful woman and I don't even want to know how often I've watched this video, but it's this 1983 performance of "What do You See in Her":
https://youtu.be/W9ktxjzC_4A !
The way Morrissey sings is SO incredibly emotional, and you notice how personal those lyrics are to him - this is what people mean when they say "he poured his heart and soul into it". Wonderful Woman is among the most underrated Smiths songs for me, but honestly, I'm still sad about the lyric change.
I also have to dedicate a honourable mention to this 1986 performance to The Queen is Dead: https://youtu.be/-o76TepMrJI. Though i was first completely put off by Morrissey's random gurgling and gagging, and disliked this performance when I first saw this video, it has now definitely grown on me. Though I wouldn't listen to this version when I just want to hear the song, it definitely fits the vibe of the song: it's not only meant to be an easy listen, but also convey a message, while ALSO being witty and ironic. Also, LOOK AT JOHNNY PLAYING THE GUITAR WITH A DRUMSTICK??? i LOVE this man so much.
8: Best cover of a Smiths song
I don't know if this is a basic answer, but I really like the Deftones cover of "Please, Please, Please, Let me Get What I Want". The band brings a completely different sound to the song and changes your eperience listening to both the original and the cover, and I think this is what a great cover is supposed to do. Also love the recordings with Sandie Shaw, but I'm not sure if they count as covers haha
11: Theory I'd like to share
This one is a bit far-fetched, but here goes:
So, I know that "This Night Has Opened my Eyes" is at least partially based on "A Taste of Honey", but I do think that it is also based on another play called "Faust" by german author Goethe. Actually, the only thing keeping me from 100% believing that theory to be true is that Morrissey has never admitted to being inspired by Goethe, like he has with other great authors. I'll summarise the play here, but fyi, in it, themes of pedophilia/grooming and a dead baby are discussed, so if you don't want to read about this, please skip this one! :)
To sum up the play "Faust" as short as possible, there's this guy ( around 50) who is really booksmart, but doesn't know anything about real life, so he basically makes a bet with the devil, who makes him younger (about half his age) and helps him get with a 14-year old girl called Gretchen, which is obviously very creepy, but at the time people thought it was normal. She comes from a poor household, her mother is sick, she basically had to raise her own sister when she was still a child, and her father isn't around - and now there's this older guy, who also seems to have some money, taking an interest in her. She falls for him, thinks he loves her too - which he doesn't, it's implied that he just wants her for her body (also she's 14 and he's 25! let's not forget this fact). He gets her pregnant and leaves her, and now she's on her own, with no way to support the child, and being outcast by the people in her village, so she sadly drowns the baby. She then goes to jail and dies there, but her soul is saved by god and she goes to heaven. Pretty crazy stuff, honestly.
You can probably already see where this is going: The first verse of the song discusses drowning a baby in a river, which is exactly what Gretchen did. The line that goes "a grown man of 25, he said he'd cure your ills, but he didn't and he never will" also makes a lot of sense through this lens, and by singing "save your life, cause you've only got one" Morrissey could be referencing her soul being saved.
18: How did you first get into the Smiths?
Honestly, completely coincidentally. Last winter, I was just opening up YouTube and looking through my recommended videos when I saw a video titled "There is a light that never goes out". I had heard the name of the band this song was by once or twice, but never really checked them out, but for some reason, I just clicked on the video, and that was it: I was completely enchanted. Naturally, I checked out some other songs and was even more impressed with this band. They became the first band whose full discography I had listened to in the correct order. I just got the urge to find out more and more about them, and they became more and more important to me over time- and now I'm here, with basically almost my whole tumblr account dedicated to this band!

Do you ghave favourite Frontier episodes? If yes would you put them in an order from best to least favourite in the favourites?
Hi, Anon💕. Thank you for the ask! I feel like this will be a bit hard because some weeks ago I tried putting some episodes I like in an order of preference and I failed.
A little premise: what is the Frontier I adore like? Except when it comes to episodes where Junpei and Izumi get spotlight, -obviously I ADORE them-, the “Good Frontier” I really love is the one where everyone interacts with everyone, the chemistries are balanced and well-defined, the kids collaborate and learn how to work in a team.
Regrettably, -block me-, I feel like the group in Frontier worked well when it was made of five people. PERSONALLY, PERSONALLY ,I REPEAT, I don’t feel like Kouichi fits among them. What is his role? What kind of interactions has he built with the others, excluding with Kouji? Sometimes I also used to feel like the team that works so well in Frontier is the one made up by the first four kids. Kouji often felt out of place, especially whenever I watched episodes where Tomoki, Izumi and Junpei supported Takuya. Yet, I grew to like Kouji’s development a bit, just a bit. AGAIN, JUST AN OPINION OF MINE: he’s just not my favourite among the kids.
So first episode I’m really attached to:
1. The Tsunomon episode: Everyone hates it, I’m the only one probably loving it so much. It has got so many flaws, especially in how it deals with Izumi’s backstory, but I can’t help it: I love it with all my heart. The main theme is loneliness and isolation. Even if I would have loved seeing them acknowledging how lonely Junpei is too, just like Izumi, I adore they picked them to build trust on each other in a similar episode. It’s especially so nice to notice the development in their relationship while comparing this episode with the Floramon one: now that Junpei has found his spirit, he can be the goofball he’s supposed to be. Their partnership is just too enjoyable for me to resist, okay?
(• Still in the first place because I’m sorry but——- : The Revival of the Ancient Digimon. Even if it’s not an episode, I need to place this here since I rewatched it the day before yesterday and I was so enthusiastic about it. Frontier’s movie is always a nice place to return to, owning what the anime ride should have always had, without losing its direction. In the movie everyone has got a role, the interactions are vividly represented from Kouji’s and Takuya’s silly rivalry to Izumi being a big sister to them; from Junpei, Tomoki and Takuya being the biggest dorks out there (I LOVE THEM), to Junpei, Izumi and Tomoki confirming themselves to be a team with great dynamics; from Takuya and Junpei SURPRISINGLY agreeing on something for once to Junpei and Izumi carrying the finale of the movie together. Flawless movie. The Frontier of my dreams.)
•2. The Village of the Beginnings: The only episode from the last disastrous arc I hold dear to my heart. The plot was endearing, the main theme can also slightly move me: the concept of hope being put in such innocent beings and eggs that still have to hatch is pretty emotional. Izumi also gets to be useful for once in her life, which is so appreciated🤣💕. The only flaw of the episode is obviously the Kouji/Takuya centrism, but in this case it’s less annoying. There’s actually that nice scene with the 10 spirits collaborating with the accompaniment of “An endless Tale” in the background. Pure poetry.
•3. Izumi’s Beast spirit episode: Yajima got to animate my favourite episodes, like you can notice. Somehow their episodes are exceptionally hilarious and everyone just looks adorable🤣. After an embarassing episode about fanservice I wish it had never been produced, here are we with some justice for Izumi. Ignoring the fact her beast evolution can’t be really considered as such, this episode is a gem in her badly-written arc. The team gets to support her and she realizes how precious everyone around her is💕!
•4. The Black Blitzmon episode: Maybe one of the cruelest episodes in the whole series, in my opinion. Despite having so many flaws in its writing and portraying such ashaming scenes of sexualization for Izumi, I like the way they have built up Junpei’s issues during the whole series up to this episode. It makes me feel so sad to see Junpei pretending to have a nice life, whereas he’s a wreck inside. It’s also…A bit relatable when it comes to my life, but I’m not going to go deeper ahaha.
•5. Bolgmon episode: It would have been much higher if it had featured Izumi doing something. I don’t know, SOMETHING. The philosophy of the hopeless woman being protected by the man does not drive me crazy, especially when the writers of this girl fill their mouth with dialogues about women power. Nevertheless, it’s the apotheosis of Junzumi, it’s the moment my son gets to show his worth and his growth. And of course…The ending scene always gets me near to tears because the vibes were so similar to the Takajuri/ Jurato ones.
•6. Junpei’s and Tomoki’s Grand Adventure: Listen, I love these two. I love Digimon’s personal Mario and Toad having such a heartwarming relationship starting their journey from being the most ambiguous characters of the series. Junpei has got such nice quotes here and I remember I had already fallen so hard for him here. He already shows to be so warped and very grey in his personality. The oldest member convincing the youngest one escaping, because he would feel like an embarassing coward leaving that world all alone. Junpei! Junpei himself who had seen an opportunity to play the main hero for once in his life by pressing YES on his phone. It’s a very interesting episode, surprisingly deeper than what it may look on the surface.
• 7. Izumi defeats Ranamon episode: I realize it has got a very warped picture of what a woman has to be like, but I also realize that’s the kind of culture and view Japan had at that time (and probably nowadays too). However, I’ve grown to like this episode after having watched it twice. It’s a lovely filler that culminates the path of Izumi’s struggles with others. I also acknowledge it probably should be lower, much lower, but the atmosphere makes me feel very affectionate to it, and there are some cute scenes featuring Junpei and Tomoki supporting her. I love those.
• 8. Takuya VS Mercurymon episode: Like you have understood, I’m such a big fan for the main quartet. Maybe I would have appreciated the series more if they had had more time to shine together. I like seeing Izumi, Junpei and Tomoki trying their best to rescue Takuya. Still, this episode also marks the end of the Frontier I enjoy, so it might be very emotional but at the same time it leaves me with a bittersweet taste in my mouth.
• 9. Blitzmon’s introduction: There’s a first part that is so boring I would tear my hair, but when the second half comes this episode takes off. There’s a very entertaining fight between Junpei and Takuya leading Junpei to having to face his sadness. It has got such a weird writing someday I would like to discuss about, also sharing some thoughts of a dear tw friend’s here, but I strongly believe it was an excellent way to conclude Junpei’s first character arc. I appreciate them dealing with his lack of self-esteem and eventually giving him the best spirit entrance of them all. Have you seen him falling off the crane, -another ⚡️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ main character of this episode-, being rescued by the Kokuwamons and landing on the ground like some king🤣? Speaking of the Kokuwamon, Junpei and the bby bonding melt my heart.
• 10: Grottomon appears for the first time episode: This is the first time Kouji collaborates with the gang and starts opening up a bit. The animation is commendable with that incredible ride to the mountain, the vertiginous frames, but I also have to say the world building is one of the best here. The setting is breathtaking, very Miyazakish, but the plot doesn’t really stand out that much when it comes to me comparing it with the other episodes I’ve mentioned. I don’t know why. I just can’t fit this higher despite the fun it made me experience ahaha.
I know, it’s a very long post, Anon, and I’m so sorry but I hope you are satisfied by my reply! I know my tastes are weird, don’t worry🤣💕💕. There are also three other ones I like, though: the Tomoki nightmare one and the two episodes about the trio of losers (The Trailmon episode and, before that, the hamburger one).
The last episode, still animated from Yajima, has got its flaws but I love it with my whole heart. It’s kinda useless to mention it because I believe it’s in every Frontier fan’s heart.
#digimon frontier#takuya kanbara#izumi orimoto#junpei shibayama#tomoki himi#avoiding to tag Kouji and Kouichi not to be hanged#junpei#izumi#takuya#tomoki#kouji#kouichi#to notice my preferences are very influenced by both Junzumi and Takupei hmmmmmm#🤣💕💕💕💕#what a pity the rest of Frontier is largely skippable in my opinion agahah#ops#again I invite you all to understand these are innocent and harmless opinions about a fictional show and fictional characters#so calm down in the case it makes you go on fire#asks

Sun, moon and eclipse, do you play a y of glitches arcade games? Is there any favourites if you do?
☀️:well no but he hacked my copy of animal crossing so we're all in it now with a lot of new items... Which I can't share unfortunately, I would love to give visitors a copy of the ball pit that villagers can actually play in Glitch made for my game.
🌙:I think it's fun to play Pac-Moon, Glitch took an old Pac-Man cabinet and replaced packman with me, the dots with Moondrops, the fruit is still fruit just fruit I like instead of the normal ones and the ghosts were replaced with little copies of the manager that try to avoid me.
There's various funny little animations he made for me nomming them then putting them back into the timeout box after a while. He even repainted the machine to fit the theme.
🌑☀️:........ I am...too big to use the machines. *Eclipse seems embarrassed about this, seems he's tried before* I am however able to plug myself into various gaming systems, Glitch has created a few silly mods for various games I've played. Like an outfit based on myself for Breath of the Wild.

@aureateart ok. My favourite parts of twilight princess (and some other random thoughts about TP sprinkled in there) taken from my monster TP word vomit google doc :
Link lmao
Ok but for real, I like this incarnation of Link :)
I love Ordon (it just seems like such a chill and cozy village)
ALSO love how easy it is to interpret Link as being a sort of older brother figure to the Ordon kiddos. It’s just,, super cute? AND GHHH nice nice good thanks nintendo for giving me characters to care about/characters that I can imagine Link caring about
He didn’t sign up for any of this (tbh, none of the Links really signed up for this jshdjsd). But I mean like, dude was just going to take a trip to castle town, drop a gift off for the royal family, and come back. But haHA oopsies he did get to castle town eventually but definitely not the way he expected hsjdhsd
He’s just a little dude?
AND FUCK. HE REALLY HAD NEVER BEEN OUTSIDE OF ORDON UNTIL ALL OF THAT
everything is new for the player AND Link
Midna
She’s cool :)
she really just
*teleports into your jail cell* hello whore.
I am no master at writing but AYYYY she do got a character arc!!!
She was actually pretty helpful sometimes, I ALWAYS checked in with her before turning to a game guide
Other NPCs
NICE
Love all of the TP character designs (ASHEI’S ARMOUR??? AOWOAOAOOAO)
Saving Zelda and all of Hyrule was important yea but thinking back maybe it was more like, the Ordonians and the kids were what was pushing Link to keep on going
I like the Resistance members :) Very video gamey of them to have one NPC assigned to each dungeon but hey!!! Kinda cool getting to see a little glimpse of each of em
Idk, it’s just fun to imagine Link popping into Telma’s bar after each dungeon and taking a little rest :) (or to celebrate? maybe just chat, idk, give this man some downtime!!)
Honestly it was just kind of nice that Link wasn’t entirely alone. I mean, I know Midna was there the whole time, but I am always for giving Link a big group of friends (see my love for hyrule warriors, age of calamity, and LU LMAO)
Hero’s shade, very very cool, kinda sad he died with regrets but HEY. He got to pass on his knowledge eventually
AND the connection to OoT?? AND assumed to be related by blood too????? GOOD SHIT
Ilia, I REALLY really wanted to like her (er, it’s not like I dislike her, she’s just,,, kinda there for me).
It definitely seems like Nintendo was pushing to make her the romantic interest, but GHHHHH they really threw that out of the window for me by having her lose her memories
I saw a text post a while ago that said it would have been interesting if Ilia was Link’s sister instead and YES!! That would have been cool too :0
Wish we got to know Zelda a little more
I feel like we barely know anything about her
Idk man, like I said earlier, I never really had any sort of drive to save Zelda during my playthroughs
She obviously knows Midna, so maybe if they gave us just a little bit more of that relationship I’d be more interested in her?
TP WORLD BUILDINGGGG
Botw has good world building too, but each race felt kinda,,, isolated? I absolutely love the different architecture and vibe each town has (and all the the weapons too) but ghhh yea everyone felt so separated. As far as I can remember, we don’t see tooo much of the races interacting with each other? Now that I’m typing that out maybe that’s to be expected because of the calamity but KLSJDKJFD ANYWAYS THIS IS ABOUT TP
The world feels nice and alive, love how populated everything is
Castle town I like castle town a lot, it feels dense and busy and I really like how you can’t talk to every NPC you see
Very cool very fun that we got to see the Gorons hanging out in multiple spots
kinda wish we got to see the Zoras a little more (I guess they are a bit limited since they need water but GHHHH the tp zoras are so prebby,,)
BUT HEY, I do remember seeing a zora or two hanging out in the hot springs around death mountain after beating the lakebed temple (I think, might have been a different dungeon)
but aaaa would have been nice to see them in at least a couple of other places. I think it would have really added to the “congrats Link!! You’re restoring peace to Hyrule” feeling you get from seeing the Gorons hanging out in Kakariko and Castle Town
ORDON
Love how chill it is and how it’s kind of separate from Hyrule proper
They really do seem to be doing their own thing apart from the rest of Hyrule
Just kinda adds onto the “he’s just a regular dude minding his own business” kind of vibes I get from TP Link
Also I like Ordona :)
THE LIGHT SPIRITS,,
Love their design
And love how they’re not exactly like a pure white?
Different spirit representing each aspect of the triforce my beloved
But yes hi I think Ordona is very cool
Who are you, how did you get here, which goddess do you represent? Do you even represent one of the three golden goddesses? Do the Ordonians know about you? Have any of them ever SEEN you??? Do they worship you? Does anybody even know about the existence of the light spirits?? FUCK so many questions but ghhh I like how they broke the status quo a bit by throwing in a fourth spirit :)
I feel like this one is kinda weird but I like that voice sample they used in the light spirit music. It’s spooky and pretty at the same time :)
cutscenes mmmmm
Ok ok, the spooky lanayru cutscene is very good
BUT THE “Link, Chosen Hero! Lend us the last of your power!” CUTSCENE MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM LOVE IT SO MUCH
IT just
Idk man
It just hit different
I like the music
And seeing the light spirits swimming around in the light juice water whatever it is
Summoning the light arrows?
AND HHHHH “Lend us the last of your power!” THIS IS IT. This is the final battle.
Seeing Zelda bow down, and then Link putting his hand out 👌👌👌
Link: ok bud, let’s do this together :)
Connection to OoT (did I already mention this? Maybe., Whatever)
Very cool nintendo :)
I love seeing connections between all the diff zelda games.
Because like, on one hand, they’re all separate from each other because of yknow, individual hero stuff. BUT ALSO, they’re all connected because of the reincarnation stuff
Grrrr walking through the sacred grove and going “The Hero of Time walked around here a long time ago” FUCK THATS SO COOL
Is the Hero’s Shade watching me? What does he think of me? DIsappointed? Proud? The Hero of Time went through HELL so this timeline didn’t have to deal with any of the shit Ganon was gonna pull with the triforce, better not fuck this UP Link!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Midlink is cute
Kinda hurts that she smashed the mirror but that was probably so Nintendo didn’t have to worry about people going “but what about the twili??????” for any of the other games LMAO
BUT ALSO LIKE SKJDKLJFJ There are some pretty massive plot holes in TP anyway so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ whatever it’s fine we’ll just use this for angst because GOD do y’all like angst
So is Shadlink
Honestly don’t know where this ship came from but it’s cute so whatever
THE MUSIC??
Love Midna’s theme and how they referenced the dark world theme from ALttP (I remember trying to learn the dark world theme on the piano and doing the Leonardo DiCaprio point meme at the little jingle I recognized from Midna’s theme)
Hyrule field theme SLAPS.
Apparently references a couple of the other over-world themes from the previous zelda games (I got this from 8-bit Music theory’s video on the over-world zelda themes, he talks about TP at around 11:40 but def recommend watching the whole video if you’re into music analysis stuff)
So there’s this bit of the Hyrule Field theme, I don’t know the official name for it but I remember seeing somewhere it being called the “at an advantage theme” since yeah, you hear it during the boss music whenever you expose their weak points. FUCKINGGG LOVE THAT. Didn’t notice it during my first playthrough, but hearing it during my second was like a little easter egg for my ears every time :)
Midna’s lament is very pretty (and fun to play on the piano)
COURAGE THEME.
I didn’t care for it too much when I started playing the game but hearing it in ZREO’s arrangement of the Hyrule Field theme literally makes me turn into a puddle of emotions. Also hearing it around and of the Ordon kids (I think it plays after Link saves Colin) AAAAAAAAAAAAA
Orchestra piece #1 and #2 HOLY SHIT????????????????
Literally, the first time I listened to those I just,,,, plugged in my headphones, volume 100, layed on the floor/against my desk and silently vibed. I don’t know what the hell it is, but those two just fit so well with TP?? I still avoid listening to them nowadays cause if I DO I definitely will get overwhelmed with the “god I love this game so FUCKING MUCH” kind of feels.
Wolf link sucks at singing
the first time I heard him howling Zelda’s Lullaby I lost my shit because LKSJLDKSGLKJFSKG god that was.,, Bad. Anyways, hearing him howl some of the songs from OoT was cute :)
TP STAFF ROLL???
VERY GOOD. IT’s like 10 minutes long and GOD do I love every single second of it. It doesn’t have the same energy as the skyward sword staff roll or the orchestra pieces but GOD does it hit good??
Nice and calm after that big exciting adventure. Maybe it would have been more fun or emotional to have a higher energy piece but it was really nice getting to sit back and watch the camera fly around Hyrule. Seeing like, the Gorons and the Zoras having a good time, the kids returning to Ordon? GOOD SHIT.
and AAAAA that end, when you hear the main Zelda theme and see Link riding off out of Faron woods on Epona… good shit. It gets you thinking, where the hell is he going? What is he doing? Off ot do more adventuring? Going to help out the resistance or something? Going to help Zelda? Or maybe he’s trying to figure out a way to restore the mirror of twilight? Whoooo knows.
hhHHHHhhh it’s just that final reminder that YES!!! YOU JUST PLAYED A ZELDA GAME. JUST ANOTHER STORY APART OF THE WHOLE EPIC OF THE ZELDA SERIES AS A WHOLE
I also want to acknowledge the instrument/samples they used for all the twili stuff.
They’re all just so unique and contrast SO well with the rest of the TP OST. LIKE FUCK!! Anytime I hear the screech from the Twilit Kargarok? Sends a shiver down my spine. I associate those sounds SO strongly with the twili realm. (Like, the same way you associate the BSHEWW VVWWMMM sounds with light sabers)
I love it so god damn much
literally any time there’s a certain sound or motif associated with something I lose my shit
Sacred grove sacred grove sacred gro-
lovely lovely lovely so much fun playing that on the piano. AND again, I did the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme when I heard the theme from the lost woods come in GHHHHHHHH
shoutout to TP Faron Woods for helping me study and get through all of my schoolwork
BLEGUUHHH can you tell that I really love music?
and also yea I guess TP is kinda cool too :\
IF YOU READ ALL OF THAT THANKS I GUESS

The Food of the Gods
I haven't watched a Bert I. Gordon movie in a while. This one is, like Village of the Giants, very loosely based on his favourite H. G. Wells book, and it stars Marjoe Gortner from Starcrash. Fun factoid: according to Wikipedia, Gortner's name is a portmanteau of 'Mary' and 'Joseph', which I guess seems like a good idea to people in the Bible Belt. I don't think this movie has a Rifftrack, but I'm afraid I gave up years ago on trying to keep track of those... as some of you have already noticed.
A football player named Morgan and a couple of his buddies head out for a weekend on Vancouver Island, and things quickly start to get weird. First, one of the guys is attacked and drained dry by mosquitoes the size of eagles, but I've been to Vancouver Island so that doesn't surprise me at all. What's more shocking is when Morgan goes looking for help and finds himself in a battle to the death with a chicken that would fit right in at Jurassic Park! It seems that some kind of disgusting white goo has been bubbling out of the ground and anything that eats it grows enormous. The local farmers think they're going to get rich feeding it to their livestock, but they've failed to take proper precautions to keep the flies out. And the wasps. And worst of all, the rats!
My first observation about this movie is that Gortner looks significantly less drugged than he did in Starcrash. I'm not sure what to do with this fact, but there it is.
The special effects in Food of the Gods are pretty standard Bert I. Gordon, with some see-through giant bugs, some roaring noises dubbed over footage of rats doing rat things, and some puppets. The superimposed insects are particularly bad even by Bert I. Gordon standards, and would have sucked in the 50's, never mind the 70's. The split-screen stuff and miniatures work is okay at best and at worst we have a cardboard house with windows painted on. The puppets, however, are actually not bad. The rat heads, and their piled-up corpses at the end, are surprisingly realistic for a movie like this, and the giant maggots in one scene are lifelike enough to turn the stomach quite effectively. Unfortunately, it looks like lots of rats were harmed or killed in the making of this movie, and if you are sensitive about animal welfare, or if you have pet rats, you probably don’t want to watch it.
The effects may be par but on other levels this is a rather atypical film for Bert I. Gordon, particularly in its point-of-view character. I have noticed before that a lot of BIG's scale-themed movies tell the story through the eyes of a woman whose role is to passively watch events that are far beyond her control. She may set the plot in motion and is often the love interest of an active male protagonist, but she ultimately does very little. Think of Susan in The Cyclops, Audrey in The Beginning of the End, or Lori in Necromancy.
Food of the Gods does not do this. It wants to use Morgan as both its hero and its audience identification character, which honestly is much more like how most people would try to tell a story. The thing that's kind of interesting, at least to somebody who's far too familiar with Gordon's filmography, is how this compares to his female-led films. In several ways, it really works less well.
To begin with, Morgan is somewhat deficient in the personality department, and what glimpses we do get of who he is and what he thinks about don’t seem relevant to what he does over the rest of the film. At the beginning of his trip to the island, Morgan and a couple of friends corner a deer. His buddies want to kill it, but Morgan protests that they've already 'won' and they have no reason to do that. Within the story this functions to split up the group – one guy goes to follow the deer anyway, and is attacked and killed by huge insects. But it also seems to establish Morgan as somebody who considers himself sympathetic to nature while unaware of his hypocrisy towards it (it's cruel to kill the deer, but okay to terrify and exhaust it?) and we expect that we will see him confront this over the course of the story. We do not. When animals become a threat to him, he has no problem killing them, and he never seems to stop and think about it.
Another attempt to give him some character is when Lorna, the bacteriologist working for the food company the islanders are hoping to sell their livestock to, tells him “you don't like women around while you do your thing, do you?” Morgan protests that this is not true: he doesn't like people in his way, regardless of their gender. This is ham-fisted, a telling rather than a showing, but it's trying to set him up as a lone wolf type, somebody who believes that if you want something done right you have to do it yourself. Yet it never comes up again. He is never forced to ask for help when he had insisted he didn't need it. And Lorna's apparent disgust with his individualism also evaporates, as she later tells him in the middle of a tense moment that his rugged manliness makes her want to fuck him right there. She's a little more polite than that, but Jesus.
Worse, we have very little idea of
why
Morgan feels like this is his responsibility. He escaped the island after the death of his friend, but goes back to deal with the animals. Why is that his job? I guess it might be a desire for revenge, or maybe a feeling that nobody else will do anything... if the latter, it might have been nice to see him try to report this to some authorities and not be believed. Then again, we saw in
Beginning of the End
that 'nobody believes in the monster' is a trope Gordon prefers to avoid.
We can now contrast Morgan with the leads in Gordon's other movies. Morgan has a great deal to do in this movie, but we don’t get much sense of what he’s trying to accomplish or why. Does he want to destroy the goo and its monsters, or just escape alive with the others? The women in BIG's older movies, on the other hand, while they often do very little, are always determined, goal-oriented individuals. Carole from The Amazing Colossal Man was annoying and weepy, but she was smart enough to know she was being lied to, and she was determined to find Glenn and help him in whatever way she could. Likewise Joyce in War of the Colossal Beast, who finds herself stymied at every turn but isn't afraid to complain about it, even to men who think they have every right to tell her to get lost. Carol in Earth vs the Spider wanted to hang on to the last gift her beloved father ever gave her. Audrey Aimes in Beginning of the End was doing her job as a reporter, following a story and bringing it to the world. We always knew not only what they were doing, but why.
I'm not sure why the difference between them and Morgan. Bert I. Gordon was clearly capable of writing people with reasons for the things they do, even when the audience knows those reasons are less than rational. There are even examples in Food of the Gods. We have Mrs. Skinner, who has a creeping feeling that this has all gone terribly wrong, but trusts her husband's judgment and takes refuge in her faith; and Lorna, who is clinging to her self-respect in the face of an asshole boss. All these more successful characters seem to have only one other thing in common and that's that they are all women. I feel like it would take somebody with more background in psychology than I to really get into the meat of this. Freud would probably have loved it.
There's one other place where Food of the Gods seems like it's going to go somewhere, and that's with the nature of the mysterious white goo itself. An opening voiceover by Morgan suggests that it's produced by the Earth as a form of revenge on humanity, and the two farmers, Mr and Mrs Skinner, believe it's a gift from God to make their farm prosperous. Later in the movie, however, we see a white rat with red eyes among the throngs – an albino. The first association anyone has with white rats is, of course, laboratory animals... was this stuff created by an Evil Corporation?
Apparently not, since there's no further exploration of this. We don't find out where the white rat came from, it's just there, evidently a random mutation. What gets really weird is when a character later points to it and says, “looks like the white one's the leader!” What? Since when do rats have leaders? I think we're meant to assume that the rats are a little more intelligent and organized than their smaller brethren, since they're able to shut down an electrified fence by knocking a tree onto a generator (although we don't see this, so it could have been an accident), but the white one in no way seems to be directing them. At the end there's a brief 'climactic battle' between Morgan and this animal, as he clubs it to death with the butt of a rifle, but it’s not nearly formidable enough to justify the special attention paid to it.
I really am going to write a book on Bert I. Gordon's movies someday. My father has asked me why, if I want to over-analyze movies, I don't do good movies, or at least average ones. My reply is that there are plenty of people who devote their lives to the work of Kubrick or Kurosawa. There’s even a guy on YouTube who has spent hundreds of hours examining the lore of the aforementioned Jurassic Park franchise. But nobody sits and thinks about the films of Bert I. Gordon... except me.

im just sharing but when i binged your yandere self aware au (again), especially the part about gacha, im reminded of how i got rei and rinne's 5*s in the same 10 pull when i was pulling for eichi. it's so funny to think that they were sabotaging eichi and the fact that it worked because i was a undeadP for a while and then became a crazy:bP. also omg, daze, im so glad to hear you like rinne!! my opinion of him went 📈📈📈 after night club, like i was so charmed by his whole monologue talking about not fitting in with convention and how there's nothing wrong with that (iirc, sorry i have fish memory). anyway, what are some of your other favourite characters? i would love to hear more of them!!
Omg that really is funny! Both of them blocking Eichi from coming home is so ironic klfnnsf They know that you like them way more than Eichi anyway so really, they´re just doing you a favori! Also Rei kind of desperate to get your attention again after you´ve sort of moved onto crazy: b
Yes, I am proud to admit that I am a certified Rinne enjoyer! I think there´s way more to him than just loud annoying gambler so I hope once EN gets more of his cards and events people´s opinions of him might shift a bit. It´s kind of sad to always see him get reduced to that when there´s actually a lot of thought and method to his "madness". That speech of his is very good and important and I think it kind of reflects the main theme of both him and crazy b as a concept. They´re all about raising up the ones normally scorned by society and going against the status quo and I think that´s a very important message! Rinne is aware that they´re at the very bottom of the food chain so he needs to resort to these sort of methods if he wants to keep going ( also because he probably has fun being chaotic too. I theorize that now that he´s in the city and away from the pressure of someday becoming the head of his village, he might be trying to be as wild as he can now. But I dont think anything like that has ever been confirmed, it´s just a thought that came to my mind)
Also he´s just genuinely funny in his chaotic state imo. Another good read for Rinne is hot limit!
Some more characters I like are Kohaku, Mika, Shu, Ritsu, Tsukasa and Nazuna but there aren´t really any characters I dislike so once I´ve read even more stories this list might grow even further dnflbg

Name Meaning Game
stealing this post from @tell-me-about-your-ocs :^) i actually have a whole ass notepad document for all of them already SO I AM NOT BULLSHITTING AS I GO ALONG FOR ONCE.
RULES: Search and post the meaning of your OCs’ names (if you made their name up or they go by a nickname, post an explanation of how it came to you)! Bonus if you can find something for their last name too.
LONG POST SORRY
ZAPPER
The nickname Zapper was kept from the original SD Gundam Force character he was built from.
Charlie: "short" form of Charles, which means "man", and sometimes "army" or "warrior". this is the greatest coincidence of all fucking time because I pulled the name from Chuck Berry.
Marvin: Meat Loaf's birth name. the meaning is uncertain but it originates from the welsh name merfyn
Zane: wanted something beginning with Z. means "god is gracious" which is funny because Zapper is an atheist/convinced any sort of god hates him.
GRAPPLER
The nickname Grappler was kept from the original SD Gundam Force character he was built from.
Vince: short form of Vincent, Alice Cooper's birth name (and the names of a significant amount of glam metal musicians?). comes from the Latin word for "to conquer", no influence on why i picked it
Jonathan: the name of the protagonist from the W.A.S.P album The Crimson Idol, means "god has given", no influcence on why i picked it though thinking about it it's probably why the crimson idol character has it lol
Lemoncito: I wanted him to have one of his middle names be filippino, and it has lemon in it so i had to. means "capable" or "impressive
Galloway: wanted something beginning with G. I was originally going to use Gallo because it means "cock" (as in rooster) but there's an actor called vince gallo so i used galloway instead. the name comes from the region in Scotland so this is how i decided his dad has scottish ancestry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
SLYGER
The nickname Slyger was kept from the original Tenkai Knights character he was built from. I also decided it's his fursona's name.
Peter: pulled from Peter Criss who was the original Catman in KISS. the meaning is just "stone". i've been thinking of making his first name Pedro since he's hispanic but i dunno long established stuff etc
León: means lion.obviously gotta beat everyone over the head with the cat theme
Reina: father's surname (in Mexico they have 2 last names, the first one is your dad's last name and the second one is your mum's last name), means "queen", chosen because Slyger's favourite band is Queen
Marrufo: mother's surname, means "sly" or "cunning"
GRANOX
The nickname Granox was kept from the original Tenkai Knights character he was built from. And like Slyger it is also his fursona's name.
Gary: wanted something beginning with g, name means spear. his signature weapon is an axe so neat coincidence
Cornelius: means "horn" which fits because rhino theme. also something about in the bible cornelius being told by an angel to seek peter. whomst is slyger. Martel: old french word for "hammer"
DOM
The nickname Dom was kept from the original SD Gundam Force character she was built from.
Dagmar: wanted something beginning with d, and it was the only female german name beginning with d that I liked lol. it means "day" and "maid"
Abigail: means "my father is joy" which is very relevant to her backstory and it makes her initials DAD which was just for the funnies and not because the backstory.
Dorfmeister: picked it literally because it was funny, sorry german language. it's an old word for "village mayor".
RICKY
Could not keep the original SD Gundam Force name because it's a name that is strongly tied to the gundam franchise in general lol.
Ricky: short for "Richardine" and sounds masculine. back before i made her a woman, she was named after the character in the Skid Row song 18 And Life and like i just kept it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ richard/richardine means "brave ruler"
Budika: a sinhalese name, i couldn't find a meaning for it but i picked it because it's similar to Boudicca as in the celtic queen who fucked over the romans before they could invade scotland. boudicca also means "victory"
Sansoni: close enough to what her original name was (sazabi). if you trace back all the variations of the name, the original name "samson" means "sun"
MASUYO
Also could not keep their original SD Gundam Force name. i mean it's literally "gundam" backwards.
Masuyo: the kanji in the name combined mean "benefits the world". appropriate to trashland lore, starts with m.
Wakahisa: means "forever young", i think i picked it specifically for this meaning. for all of trashland's story masuyo does not physically age, so they permanently look about 30.
VILIUS
he nickname Vilius was kept from the original Tenkai Knights character she was built from.
Vilhelmiina: picked because it's close to vilius. finnish feminine version of william, the meaning is a combination of "will" or "desire" and "helmet"/"protection"
Hellä: picked because funnie. means "gentle" which is the polar opposite of vilius's personality, which makes it funnier.
Vanhanen: means "old".
THADDEUS
the character he was built on is a transformer, which all have undeniably silly names, but his was Thrust. lmao.
Thaddeus: i wanted him to have a name starting with Th and i liked how it sounded. it means "courageous heart" which was a good coincidence
Axel: get it because the axel on a motorbike or a car lol. picked it because it sounded like something cool he'd pick for himself anyway. it apparently means "my father is peace" if you trace the names back
Barker: means "tanner of leather"
JEFFREY
see note for thaddeus. HOWEVER jetstorm is a less silly name, so i've decided that's his drag name.
Jeffrey: apparently means "a pledge of peace". picked it because it begins with j and it was funny at the time.
he has 7 middle names and that is 100% because it was funny. i am not going to look up meanings for all of them.
Eduardo Thierry Feliciano Ariel Maximiliano Gaston Kevin. yes kevin was for the extra funny.
Soucy: came from the names of multiple?? french towns apparently. i picked it because it sounds french and silly.
BRASS
kept the name from my wife's gundam oc.
Bethany: the name comes from a town mentioned in the bible apparently. i picked it because it starts with b and fits.
Bituin: "star" in tagalog
Vicente: spanish form of vincent, grappler's name, but is apparently a reasonably common middle name in the philippines. i think i had it that she picked it herself after she was adopted by zapper and grappler.
Batara: couldn't find a meaning, but i picked it because it was close enough to "battalion" (og brass's full name was brass battalion. which is how axian sd gundam names are apparently. zapper zaku, grappler gouf, destroyer dom etc)
and uhhh i tag anyone :)

I hope they are not too many! I am very interested in your answers 🧡💛💙
Do you have a favorite scene you’ve written for ‚The Supreme Art of War Is to Subdue the Enemy Without Fighting‘?
If you had to assign a theme song to ‚music is not in the notes, but in the silence between them‘, which would you assign? (This was the question I saw right after I read that amazing story and Because of the way the story was connected to music your fic come to mind immediately after seeing the ask)
What feedback makes you the happiest to hear?
What is the fanfic you’ve written that you’re most proud of?
Is there a part of ‚To Bed or Closet; That is the Question’ you’re surprised no one has picked up on yet? Or that a few picked up on but you would like to highlight/ mention again?
These are some tricky questions haha! I'll do my best to answer them satisfyingly.
1. Do you have a favorite scene you’ve written for The Supreme Art of War Is to Subdue the Enemy Without Fighting?
Probably dreadfully cliché but my favourite scene is probably the one when they're lying in the cave after eating and Pat starts pushing Pran's buttons. That was actually the second scene I wrote in the whole fic because that conversation just jumped into my head when I was thinking about where the fic would end. Partly I just loved the idea of them and the rest of the neighbourhood kids sneaking off into a field while all the adults were at some kind of adult only event, everyone getting a little tipsy on pilfered wine and Pat being his usual loud and vivacious self, going around kissing everyone on the mouth and telling them he loved them whilst Pran sat off to the side, watching him move closer and closer... It's a memory they've both held onto, but for very different reasons. For Pat it was an awakening of hope that was shattered the minute Pran left the village. For Pran, it was a bittersweet moment he both cherishes and regrets. In some ways I would have loved to expand on the memory, but it didn't fit into the narrative. So I guess what I'm saying is, actually my favourite scene was a scene I didn't even write 😅
2. If you had to assign a theme song to music is not in the notes, but in the silence between them, which would you assign?
Ah, and here's a tricky question. I'm literally the last person to ask about music because I have no idea. I very rarely have time to listen to music because I'm so easily distracted by it haha. I can't have it on when I work or while I write and I work from home so I don't even have a commute to listen to it in. So please forgive me when the only song I can assign to my cabaret AU is Our Song by Nanon Korapat. Honestly the lyrics of the song do encapsulate a lot of how I feel about love and relationships. Love in real life is not grand gestures and constantly being overwhelmed by your emotions; it's all about the little things and the way life just settles around it as though it was always meant to be there. And that's true of all love, not just the romantic kind. I like to think that's the kind of love that the cabaret AU celebrates; the early stages of a regular, everyday kind of love in all its awkward and hesitant glory.
3. What feedback makes you the happiest to hear?
I'm always incredibly amazed when people tell me they've read a fic more than once. Some of my favourite comments are people who've read a fic, gone away and then continued to think about it. Knowing that my fics have actually stayed with people is honestly one of the greatest compliments and I still find it hard to believe. I also love knowing which parts of my fic people enjoyed the most! Sometimes it's just a mention of the section, other times it's a whole copy and paste and I love it. I wish I could do it when I review but I'm usually so caught up in the whole vibe and concept of a fic that my brain is mush by the time I get to the end! I also wish I was the type of person who can bookmark a fic to leave a comment on later, but my memory is atrocious so then I'd not comment at all! I figure a garbled, enthusiastic comment with no real substance is better than no review at all XD
4. What is the fanfic you’ve written that you’re most proud of?
Honestly, music is not in the notes is probably the one I'm most proud of because its the first time I've ever managed to finish something that long and I have the friends I met on Tumblr to thank for that because without their encouragement and especially @pranpatsocool for all their work betaing, I never would have completed it. The love and comments I had for that fic have been amazing too! I really thought it would be a weird little AU that very few people would be interested in reading so I was amazed by the reactions I had to it.
5. Is there a part of To Bed or Closet; That is the Question you’re surprised no one has picked up on yet? Or that a few picked up on but you would like to highlight/ mention again?
Honestly, people picked up most of it! It's so very much an episode 5 pastiche, it's hard not to catch all the allusions. I loved having it all pointed out though. One of the things I love about fanfiction is that you can chock a story full of references to the original work and you know that everyone is going to ferret them out haha!
--
Thank you for the questions, anon! They really made me think haha, I hope my answers were interesting and feel free to let me know if you want to know anything else!

Star Wars Visions Review Part 3
[Part 1] [Part 2]
TO-B1: This is my favourite animated short in Visions. It is a small story, about a small boy, on a small world. I couldn’t praise more of its art styles, from the crayon main, the print art-like neon daydream, the watercolor landscape, even the wall murals!
My first reaction was laughter. After the dramatic cliffhanger of Lop and Ocho, I was glad I scheduled something light-hearted to refresh my mood. So I crackled at how much Mitaka Hakase looks like Ochaonomizu Hakase (*bows to Tezuka-sensei*) Boy, don’t I love to be wrong, again. I legit teared up when he hides Tobi away. Betrayal!
I like the simple mysteries in this one (where the kyber crystal is and the doctor’s goal) for it is predictable both in that the audience can figure out the answer, and foresee it will be resolved. The moral might be a bit more pointed out than other shorts, but it fits the Pinocchio-esque fable. Love how it says strength is within you and a Jedi seeks no adventure.
Ohhh the print art daydream is my favourite sequence yet I squealed in joy when C-03 gattai with him. I joked about how the last piece of the Japanese jigsaw is a giant mecha and they come at me docking. I love it, love how this short film makes me an innocent child for all 13 minutes of it. Tobi is precious. I love his sacrifice and determination. Pops to Nozawa-san injecting the childlike jolliness and nostalgia.
Besides the Astro Boy homage, the Japanese element is less in cultural symbols (could be since the director is Spanish), but more in the 21st century association of robots mixed with a long history of environmentalism. Robots are likewise central to Star Wars, along with a Jedi's power and - losing arms. I graded it the same balance score as The Village Bride, but unlike putting Star Wars themes in a distinctively Japanese setting, TO-B1 flipped the table and instilled a Japanese art style to tell a Star Wars story. It wasn’t amplifying both accounts but a quieter tale that let the character serve the theme.
5:5 / 10 (Japanese:Star Wars ratio + score out of 10)
Tatooine Rhapsody: Oh no not dead clones. I had no idea Jay has such a sad backstory and I immediately latched onto him if I could more for a striving band member. Vibes remind me of Zombie Land Saga, the absurdist comedy with a pinch of tears they are, and that key nakama morale. Jumps immediately to the point in the plot just so to save time for the performance. Love it when my rock concerts turn into physical brawls. The electric bass actually firing electric bolts is genius. The chibi art style is just right for the uplifting tone of the short. Ironically, for the short headlining music, the number is not as memorable as its fellow’s instrumental score. However I still appreciate the novelty in introducing the musical to Star Wars.
I suppose the characters are inspired by Japanese yokai as Lan resembles an aka oni and Geezer a kappa. But all I can think of is how much Geezer looks like the Father from Atashin’chi and what a plot hole it will explain away if he is Rotta. I love that the character design gave every member an instantly recognizable trait. I enjoyed it thoroughly and would love to meet more of the band members. Found Family is sweet.
The fusion is more subtle. It is reflected in the shonen plot and camaraderie instead of costume or location, but the characters distinctly belong in Star Wars. The Star Wavers is a series I’d love to follow for my nowadays preference for slice-of-life anime.
3:7 / 8
The Twins: By the time I reached this final installment in my binge, my head was already spinning. Fact is, The Twins actually feels the most like it is set in the canon universe around the sequels. Similarly attacks destiny like Akakiri but ended on a hopeful note. I put this last because I know the hype around it, and the absolute crazy fight in space, no thanks to TLJ. It wasn’t until the dub rewatch I noticed how narrative the dialogue is, the same weakness most battle anime have. Not too attached to the twins since I don’t really know about them but I like the colours and the droids. I am not too captivated by such a common AU. But it does feel on-brand Star Wars over-the-top. I can excuse dark-sider cyborgs breaking the speed of light but I draw my line at protocol droids needing life support
1:9 / 7
Final ranking by personal favourites:
TO-B1
The Village Bride
Akakiri
Lop and Ocho
Tatooine Rhapsody
The Duel
The Ninth Jedi
The Twins
The Elder

If you’re into animal crossing can I get cute headcanons for the boys playing animal crossing with mc?
When you sent this, I was actually playing New Horizon, but I stopped to write this because I got so inspired, and I really hope you enjoy it!
I might do another for Simeon, Barbatos, Diavolo, Solomon and Luke since it’s wholesome and I can see them enjoying playing the game with MC too 💙
【Lucifer】
“(Y/N), how do I jump?”, “Lucifer, you don’t jump in this game, you can walk and run around,” and this is when you knew it was gonna be a long day. He’s watched Levi play games, and has played at least some basic ones to try and get to understand his brother, but this is confusing. He wants to spend this time with you, and you seemed genuinely happy when telling him about the game, so he had to try it with you, and despite the sloppy start, he found himself having a lot of fun playing with you, even if you’re the one leading him around the island and helping him out by giving him a quick tutorial on how the play. He really finds himself liking Isabell as a character, there’s just something relatable about her.
【Mammon】
He has vague memories of playing the original Animal Crossing on the GameCube with Levi, but got bored since the animals were just as mean as his actual brothers, but when he sees you having fun, and the animals being actually cute and cuddly, he gives it another shot and plays with you. Mammon is a master at fishing, but bug catching? He leaves that to you. He gets attacked by the bees, tarantulas, and scorpions constantly. He does end up enjoying playing with you, and you find he has some pretty great ideas when it comes to making bells.
【Leviathan】
You knew he bought the game, he had it preordered months in advance, but now he finally has someone else to play with, who actually knows what they’re doing. He immediately comes to visit your island, in hopes you have a fruit he doesn’t, and gets a bit jealous if you have cuter villagers than him, “It’s not fair! I want that villager, trade them for my ugly one please,” he’d whine, though it’s hard to take him seriously, even when he huffs at you. He focuses more on getting his home just perfect, and having his island how he wants it. In typical Levi fashion, he also has a pet fish that lives in his animal crossing house. The fish has its own room.
【Satan】
He knew about the game, but had no interest in playing it until you asked him, and showed him some cute cat villagers. He was sold honestly, and focuses on trying to complete the museum so he can take your character on a date around it. He also wants to decorate his home with as many books as possible, and book related furniture; just to make it more homely. Satan accidentally hit his favourite villager with a net once, and honestly, he can’t forgive himself for it.
【Asmodeus】
He has no idea how to play, it once you get him started he is HOOKED. He loves being able to have freedom to design his home with you, and honestly, the island will be the most beautiful one there is, with all the flowers in a perfect arrangement. Once he figured out he could hit villagers on the head with his net, he ends up doing that quite a lot to some of the more unappealing villagers. He wants them to leave so he can make his town truly adorable. You’re left to do all the fishing and bug catching, since even in video games the bugs freak him out.
【Beelzebub】
He’s not sure how to play, or if he should. He’s never touched a game controller before, but he’s drooling over the fruit in the game. He wants to eat the fruit from the trees, and makes his character do just that when he plays with you. He also asks if he can eat certain villagers too, I mean, he has an axe and net, what else was he meant to do with them? He gets so excited when he makes progress, and loves to show off his home. One room is a gym, and the other one has stuff that reminds him of his brothers, and then another room if full of food themed items.
【Belphegor】
He’s played the game before on the DS, and rather liked it too. It was quiet, peaceful, and helped him relax and fall asleep, and you find him doing just that when he plays with you. He’s rather lazy with his home, and doesn’t really feel like paying it off. He’s content to help you out in the game, and when he gets serious about it, nothing can stop him. Will want to walk with your character along the beach, and makes sure he has a bed in his home that can fit 2 of you in, so you can cuddle with him both in game, and in real life.

-Rating and gushing about every Wizard101 “World”/Arc-
Imma just gush about my month of Wizard101 and how I finally got to a close “end” of the game.
24/12 Edit: Fixed some typos here and there and added some stuff.
07/09 Edit: KI decided to fully revamp Wiz city also changing some lore so the rating on that is outdated. Might also put my thought of the new Wiz City there once I’m through all the new content.
Arc 1 - Malistaire - 10/10
Prob my favourite.
The writing really ties in every world, even when you speedquest through it.
Contains a lot of my favourite worlds.
I’m still crying over Mali to this day...
(Old) Wizard City - 10/10
Literally the introduction to the game and the place I spent most of my time in when I was a crownless and membershipless young wizard.
Do you want to farm Nightshade or Kraken?
That graphic revamp really punched.
Fave Places To chill: Nightside, Commons, Ravenwood, Cyclops Lane
Krokotopia - 11/10
This world made me fall in love with Wizard101
Egyptian aesthetic o-o
I was once a balance wizard you know?
Cries over the plot in the tomb of storms
Also KROKODILES
Fave Places To chill: Krokosphinx, School Of Balance
Marleybone - 10/10
I liked the Wizard version, but the Pirate version is more my jam.
Everyone is lookin dapper.
Home of the Doc- I mean Professor!
The whole worlds feels like Cats, but with dogs and the plot is Sherlock Holmes.
Barkingham Palace Gear o-o
Fave Places To chill: The Museum.
Mooshu 7/10
Japan and China vibes
Your usual warlord chaos
Everything is BRIGHT GREEN
It felt S H O R T
Has pretty nice wand drops
Fave Places To chill: Jade Palace
Dragonspyre 12/10
This is what you get when you throw Roman aesthetic, Prussian History and a pinch of Russia into a pot.
The amount of subtle history references is making me listen to every line of dialogue I can get from this world.
D R A G O N S
Milos Bookwyrm is kinda a darlin
We kill Mali here :’)
Fave Places To chill: The Atheneum, wherever my battle drake chills
Arc 2 - Morganthe - 9/10
Has nice spots here and there.
Writing is still good, but a little less engaging.
Morganthe was so over the top “bad bitch” that it got annoying
Grandpappy spider was the saving grace of the arc
Celestia - 8/10
Solid world, story was kinda meh
ASTRAL MAGIC
Is this Skull Island??? Why are there water moles??? I thought they only exist in Skull Island????
Basically Atlantis
WAND OF STASIS
Fave Places To chill: Watermole Village
Zafaria - 8/10
Jambo Wizard!
The plot is Belloq and crazy tse-tse zebra ruining everyones day.
All they wanted was a nice zafari, all they got was misery and running into Morganthe worshippers.
Flameingo can’t take it anymore...
“Son I’m disappointed”
Fave Places To chill: Baobab Crown
Avalon - 9/10
Love it, but something is missing?
King Arthur, but you’re Arthur.
How to become a knight 101
FINALLY I CAN GET DEER KNIGHT
The source of Morganthes saltiness
Everyone is prob scared of me because I rode a battle badger during my stay...
Fave Places To chill: Caliburn
Azteca - 9.5/10
Hello and Bye...
I will never be able to do casual side questing here anymore...
The plot was nice, but you know, IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED
Do not speedquest through this if you are a plot person, DO NOT
Cries over birb and dinosaur friends...
The music was the best part of it.
Fave Places To chill: N o w h e r e a f t e r t h a t d a r n m e t h e o r i t e, almost everywhere before that
Khrysalis - 9.8/10
L O O O O O N G
It was to be expected though
Mouse Guard vibes
The furniture sets for this suck and there is no proper furniture to obtain otherwise...
One Wizard Army (with the help of some deer friends) pls do not kill me for my bad word puns
I’d feel bad about how Morganthe ended, but after Azteca I really don’t have anything left for that whiny bitch...
A lot of people want my head...
Hello there hand- I mean hello there Spider.
Captain Colridge, if you had a pegleg I’d be 100% sure you’re ratbeard gone out of shape.
I love the dynamic changes to the Bastion once you progress
SHADOW MAGIC no one uses though because it’s not worth the pips and time
Fave Places To chill: Last Woods
Arc 3 - Spider And Raven - 6/10
Had solid concepts, kinda threw them out of the window
I do not like the writing in a majority of the arc
I think I was so disappointed, because I hyped these worlds up so much, the expectations did not meet reality
The ending was a no no
Plot was barely engaging
I only pushed through this for the concepts of Mirage and Polaris and wanted to see where Grandpappy Spider went
Polaris - 7/10
WAY TOO SHORT
You spent half of the time in the arcanum anyway
I don’t like Mellori, but that is just me
REVOLUTION TIME!
I don’t like that we had to throw a ship worth of fish into the sea, although they apparently still live? Somehow?
Everyone was at full right to overthrow the Empress though, she was horrible.
Where is Napoleguin???
RA RA RATSPUTIN, LOVER OF- wait w h a t ? ? ?
I don’t like the Arcanum, but I guess I’ll be a part of it.
Fave Places To chill: Walruskberg, Captain Colridges Tavern
Mirage - 6.5/10
The more you hype, the more you’ll be disappointed...
Again the Spider part of the plot was good, the other was e h
If I’m going to have to talk to another snobby over the top whiny cat I’m going to lose it.
Boochbeard, where is Mr. Gandry?
Bara Snakes.
Istar stop whining about bugs.
Ozzy you’re my best bud in this.
House themed GEAR, APARTMENTS and MOUNTS, but you gotta defeat a 100 enemies before that...
Love the world design though
THE MAGIC CARPET RIDE
Fave Places To chill: Caravan, anywhere you can wander through endless sand
Empyrea 4/10
This is what happens when you throw too many things together
S t a r T r e k
Medulla shut up
The idea to have an isle in the eye of a storm is cool though
Zanadu was kinda meh (prob because I remember most of it just happening in a sewer)
That dance session though, Khan rocks
The dwarfes were also kinda meh, just didn’t fit with the concepts of the previous areas
Cthulu island was also kinda meh
Ending of the first half was literally Batman and although I know “The Bat” and “The cabal” it kinda came out of nowhere...
And then I pretty much lost interest in the world
The Reverie got me again, nice and fresh mechanics.
I will make a seperate rant on the ending, but no... I don’t like it at all and I don’t see Spider forgiving Raven as a good ending
Felt really forced
Hit some bad spots with me...
I thought we could fight Raven??? >:O
Fave Places To chill: Reverie
Arc 4 - idk what is going on
Karamelle ?/10
Ja moin, guten Tag allerseits.
Haven’t gotten there yet, but man, I’m not up for dictator Nana... :T
Spells look pathetic o k
If you try denglish one more time I’m going to lose it
At this point it’s obvious that KI has a thing for german speaking countries related stuff
Sentinel Marshmallows, do I have to say more?
Other Worlds
Grizzleheim - 8/10
Vikings
Forshadowing of Raven
It’s ok
Grendleweed
Wintertusk - 8/10
Even more Vikings
Grizzleheim 2.0, but everyone is op and crits
You need the spells, but you don’t want to do it
It’s been too long since I’ve last been there
Wysteria - 9/10
The original snob
At least these weren’t a pain to listen to...
Incompetent teachers make incompetent students.
That hall of fame though.
Actually a nice world to quest through
The aesthetic is nice and they kinda got the cooler library compared to Ravenwood, unless I’m missing out on something.
Fave Places To chill: The library
Aquila - 10/10
Birbs
Was a pain in Pirate, is wonderful in Wiz
SKY IRON HASTA
Secret bosses you seldom find people to fight with
Everyone is salty that you’ve beated them and they don’t even try to hide.
Hades got the best estate.
Cerberus was cute until he became a set of floating heads.
Fave Places To chill: Tartarus
Darkmoor - 9.5/10
“Who hits?” - “Everyone” - *person who asked decides to leave the dungeon*
This happened to me 7 times in a row an U G H
People need to calm down their hitter ego
The dungeons are fun the first times, then they are just an annoyance to farm.
Plot is the Ballad Lenore
GO TO REST MALI
Hit in 5 rounds or say bye bye to your blades
No Feints
Catacombs 11/10
D r a g o n s p y r e L o r e
Valencia, what are you doin there?
Basically KI’s punch in the face of Pirate101 players
“Oh you want an update? Guess you gotta watch how we recycle Valencia in Wiz”
Dragoon gear - Just like Darkmoor, but this time your suffering has a certain end
Also no exp on your quests?

Novel prep tag game
WIP Stormkeeper new version
I always end up doing this thingy when the concept is changing XD this like my, what, 6th novel prep tag? Always helps.
FIRST LOOK
1. Describe your novel in 1-2 sentences (elevator pitch)
Cultural scientist Acacia can finally realize her dream of doing field notes in different mage regions, but has to team up with a cold and judgemental bodyguard and his careless dragon-shifting brother in the process.
The story is basically about three exceptional people that don't fit in in various ways - Wes by nature, Kyler by force and Acacia because of her interests - and how they deal with it.
2. How long do you plan for your novel to be? (Is it a novella, single book, book series, etc.)
One novel, maybe a series later on.
3. What is your novel’s aesthetic?
Trains, mountains, cities, lakes and fog, spirts, sandstorms and hurricanes, rain.
4. What other stories inspire your novel?
Naruto, Frozen 2, Mash, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Star Wars, Atla, Avatar, The greatest Showman.
5. Share 3+ images that give a feel for your novel
MAIN CHARACTER
6. Who is your protagonist?
The protagonist Acacia drives the story with her goal of acquiring field notes for her research. But both Kyler and Wes are main and pov characters.
Acacia is analytical scientist and a imaginative dreamer, passionate but insecure inside. Her quick mind and abstract philosophic thought process is hard to keep up with.
7. Who is their closest ally?
Her reluctant bodyguard Kyler is son of one of the most significant Pulsor families and the most powerful and dedicated Pulsor mage (controls lighting) of his generation - but rather cold and closed off.
Kyler's younger brother Wes is the reincaratnion of a dragon - the rarest and most ancient spirits - basically a god. Mischievous, reckless but cunning, he has never been allowed to leave home before.
8. Who is their enemy?
There are no enemies per se. There are obstacles, energy thieves and Phatoms on the way, people that mean harm when they see someone different, but there is no antagonist.
9. What do they want more than anything?
Acacia wants to make ethnographic research on the similarities between magic types and the ways of expression and attitude that add up to be the same thing - people living their lives and looking at the world through the taught lenses of their respective magical culture.
10. Why can’t they have it?
Doing research in different regions is hard, because travelling between regions is limited and dangerous. There are Phatoms, energy thieves and people that hate differences and loathe people interested in magic not their own.
In the end the biggest obstacle is probably the way hybrid magicians are loathed - it’s considered a betrayal and weakness not to follow one’s born in type and learn other ones as well. Something Acacia loves, and other people like Wes could use.
11. What do they wrongly believe about themselves?
Kyler believes he has failed. Wes that he is not enough. Acacia that magic is the most magical thing.
12. Draw your protagonist! (Or share a description)
Commissioned art:
Kyler / Acacia / Wes
PLOT POINTS
13. What is the internal conflict?
Acacia’s internal conflict is mostly about staying true to her belief that different magics can coexist and learn from each other. She is the impact and main driving character of the story - she changes the others and struggles to stay true to herself and her love for different magics and learning from them.
Kyler’s conflict is about his perfectionalism that was recenltly ruined by his kindapping by the Shadow Cult that forced a magic upon him he hates and he can’t forgive himself for being weak enough to succumb to it. It's something that was forced upon him but became part of him nonetheless.
Wes deals with his original spirit memories not returning as they should.
14. What is the external conflict?
Acacia’s external conflict is about her love for Sight, ability to see nature spirits on another plane of existence and the danger she might lose connection to reality and her body if she spends too much time in it.
Kyler’s conflict is dealing with the very real consequences of Shadow Craft magic being now part of him. It’s always there when he is torn or angry or hurt, crawling under his skin and he hates he can’t control it completely.
Wes’s conflict is about finding a balance between his love for his family and the human world and the foreign yearning for his wilder dragon side.
15. What is the worst thing that could happen to your protagonist?
For Acacia to lose her connection to her body by not being able to stay in the moment.
For Kyler it would losing control of Shadow Craft and having it rule him.
For Wes it would be being abondoned by his family and brother and losing the life he has when his memories come back and he finds out about his spirit life.
16. What secret will be revealed that changes the course of the story?
No magic is really bad. Or good. The key is balance and intent.
17. Do you know how it ends?
I can envision several ending scenes that would fit, they all mostly fit together.
BITS AND BOBS
18. What is the theme?
The main theme is self-worth, from self-understanding, acceptance of who you are with all the sides and flaws and yearnings and self-love and confidence in who you are and going after what resonates with you. Keeping the storm inside you alive so to say.
19. What is a recurring symbol?
Storms? XD The symbols representing each of the four main magics are moon sicle, sun, lightning bolt and a spiral.
20. Where is the story set? (Share a description!)
It’s set in modern age in a made up country divided into four regions accoriding to its dominating magic practice. These are also very different in landscapes - from mountain village of Pulsors, skyscapers of Aurals, lake bungallows of Sensors to deserts of Resonants.
21. Do you have any images or scenes in your mind already?
The big tentpole scenes are pretty sure, the rest I will figure as I go.
22. What excited you about this story?
The way I can use magic types as metaphors for fictional cultures and explore their related views and approaches. The different value systems are much clearer in such a excessive example.
Also all my favourite tropes fit into the story! From rivals to lovers, brothers, trio dynamics, gradual friendships, bodyguards, spirits, Shifters, reincarnations, dragons, healing, deeling with the fixed and growth mindset, perfectionalism and vulnerbility, how to stay in the present moment, how to find balance, different ways to express emotions, how to deal with differences, understanding vs tolerance vs acceptance, how to find - cope - stay true as well as have faith and confidence in who you are...all questions I'm personally very curious about.
23. Tell us about your usual writing method!
Building and living with characters in countless AUs, finding their arcs and a story to best realize them, magic system, themes and thematic questions I want to explore, finding a story to frame those, brainstorming, outlining and hopefully writing before the idea loses its spark.

super random prompts for today bc im feeling nostalgic~
tw // death
at 1100 years of you fulfilling your punishment as a human turned grim reaper, no one could blame you when you confess that you don’t really know yourself now if the promise you swore to chan before he died by your sword in his first life is still serious or holds meaning to you. it was a long long time ago, already muddled in your failing memories, when you swore to the joseon era prince that you would ‘find and torture him in every life he gets’ because he invaded your village and branded you as a criminal (which ultimately led to you doing the things that got you landed with your current spiritual punishment). at present, having already met different versions of him in his subsequent lives and delivering him to the afterlife each time without fail, you’re not sure anymore if you can still hold onto this promise and cause him trouble. after all, every version of him that pops up on your radar throughout the centuries never remembers what he did in his first life, let alone remember you. plus, the only time he sees you now as a grim reaper is on his death bed, when you come to fetch him and confess to causing some of the misfortunes he’s experienced in the life that he’s lived.
so imagine your surprise when the gods inform you that chan only has one reincarnation left to spend and that he’ll spend it in the 21st century seoul, right where everything started. you’re then furthermore petrified when this version you meet not only has the ability to see and interact with ghosts by his 3rd eye but also finds the journal you unknowingly drop at his neighbor’s funeral: filled with notes on him and his previous lives as well as the confusing feelings you’ve unconsciously developed over the years. the final nail in the coffin, however, is that he’s not smug about it when he eventually finds you at the local graveyard, unlike how you expected of the chan from the joseon era. instead, he asks you all about his past lives, your punishment, and what he should expect in his next life if he has any. this time, with no means of escaping from his 3rd eye and his dangerously fast biking skills, you’re forced to confront the soul of the person you once called your enemy.
more of the kids under the cut!
minho receives a google form link from you at the strike of midnight on your 1st anniversary as a couple, initially opening it on the assumption that it’s the survey form you previously coerced him into agreeing to answer for your senior thesis. the computer science major is then thoroughly surprised when the link opens to a red and pink-themed form titled, “y/n’s boyfriend application!” with questions ranging from, “full name so i can flames it with my name” to “rate my annoying habits from ‘i love them dw’ to ‘this is probably going to be one of the future reasons why we’ll break-up.’” he messages you first before anything else, asking you just exactly ‘what the fuck is this application for, babe?’ to which you only reply with a spam of winking emojis. actually, you only reply with winking emojis and actual winks when he decides to videocall you into answering him, leading minho to answer the form while you’re peeking over on a small browser on his laptop screen. your boyfriend mainly answers the questions lightheartedly, even reading his answers aloud to you after (”what number on the fan do i like? four, of course!” “minho, you’re a monster.”). that is until the last question which he only smiles at before spending the last five minutes of your videocall typing continuously then ending the call after submitting, preventing you from interrogating him and his sudden change in behavior.
it’s only after the call that you see his answer to the last question (”why do you love me”), an entire eight paragraphs of him just mindlessly rambling about whatever comes at the top of his head to answer the question: ranging from his favourite and least favourite memories of you together, the things he loves about you coupled with the things he claims to not like about you (before shyly admitting towards the end that he still finds things to love about them), and an “overall there’s a lot of reasons why i love you: some i’ve mentioned, some i haven’t, some i’ve discovered, and some i will find out about in the future when we celebrate our 2nd year anniversary, 3rd, 4th, and the ones we’ll eventually forget what number they’re supposed to be because we’ll probably be married and busy with a lot of other things ;) there’s just no one definitive answer to this question, to be honest, but this is what comes at the top of my head. happy one year, baby <3″
when the fabric of reality that blankets seoul is reported to have been ripped at the seams, you start mysteriously losing some of your personal belongings to the parallel dimension’s version of your apartment. at first you blame it on your public enemy no. 1 and roommate, changbin, who does have a habit of borrowing things without permission and forgetting to return them. when you find a blue-haired and heavily tattooed changbin using your hair dryer in the bathroom one day (clearly looking very different from the roommate you’ve been living with for 6 months who has blonde hair and piercings only), however, only then do you realize that it’s been your roommate’s parallel version who’s been unknowingly receiving your things. what’s more surprising is him getting visibly confused at you initially throwing a fit at him when you mistook him as your real roommate, explaining to you later on that he and your parallel version are dating. you purposely avoid parallel dimension changbin for a few days in embarrassment from the latter, that is until he sits you down in the living room a week later (while your dimension’s changbin is out at his part-time job) and asks you, “so, what’s your problem with my parallel self? maybe i can help!”
only parallel dimension changbin proves himself to be unhelpful when all he comments on your subsequent ramblings is a cheesy grin and, “your roommate’s probably in love with you. god, i can’t believe that even in your reality i’m stupid.”
in a world where the person who doesn’t reciprocate an individual’s strong feelings instead of the other way around, hyunjin’s had his own fair share of sick days and pharmacy runs to suppress the flowers that bloom in him from admirers who fall way too deep into his charms. he’s slightly grown desensitized to it, having already memorized what to do and what to say to the people who are forced to confront and apologize to him each and every time. when it’s you who’s suddenly confessing your sudden feelings to him, promising that you’ll get over it in a month and even stay away for a while for his sake, only then does he feel a strange mix of dread, worry, and fear at the pit of his stomach. he doesn’t want you, his best friend, to ever leave his side but at the same time he can’t find it in himself to reciprocate your feelings for you to stay. for the first time, he doesn’t know what to do nor what to say to you, the daffodils suddenly feeling heavier in his lungs the more you try and distance yourself and see new people.
jisung, unlike how the cliche trope goes, always bets everything on him missing his shot at your subdivision’s basketball court. he always says something along the lines of, “if i miss this shot, let’s go the movies!” or “if the ball falls off the rim after 5 seconds, you’ll go to the beach party with me!” despite being the star player of your high school basketball team himself. he always purposely misses for fun and gets his reward, of course, even when you remind him to shoot properly through flustered expressions and feigned huffs. this has then caused you your entire summer time and allowance, all spent glued to jisung’s hip and buying him all sorts of things from ice cream, extended time to borrow surf boards at the beach, and even a ride ticket to the travelling carnival’s ferris wheel (where he stole a kiss from you at the top like the cheesy little shit that he is).
whenever you ask him why he bets in reverse each and every time, however, only then does his confident smirk disappears into his blush and he turns his entire face away from you; too shy to admit that you make him a little too nervous whenever it’s just you watching him shoot hoops. give him a rest, he just wants more full assurance that he’ll get to spend more time with you, as boyish as that sounds.
you probably should’ve known better than to provoke chenle and wooyoung when you told them over the student council meeting that a marriage booth probably wouldn’t give you a lot of revenue since your school festival this year doesn’t fall on valentine’s day week. you probably should’ve expected that the first thing they’d do after the student assembly, when the festival is formally opened, is to drag you into said marriage booth—your english classroom decorated from top to bottom in cheap white cloth, plastic flowers, and an edit of your senior alumni bang chan as jesus—and put you into one of the flower crown veils they probably got at someone’s baptism, explaining that they need someone to kickstart the booth and attract more customers. but most of all, you probably should’ve expected that these two troublemaking vice president and secretary of yours wouldn’t hesitate to take this opportunity to torment you even further because suddenly you’re getting fake married to felix, your chem lab partner and long-time crush, who also has his own ‘sins’ to atone to chenle and wooyoung (something about ditching them at a party because he saw an injured cat stuck up on a tree on the way to the venue). the two of you stand in front of the “bang chan altar” for 10 minutes with han jisung in a questionable pope costume, the two of you attracting passersby who are mostly your classmates murmuring “oh my god, y/n and felix?” or “i knew it! those two are so cute together!” as the two of you are forced into exchanging cereal box rings and saying impromptu vows.
what you didn’t expect from this experience, however, is felix suddenly confessing in his vows, clearing his throat awkwardly while sliding the purple plastic ring on your ring finger and saying, “this isn’t how i imagined it to go but we’re both here, all of our classmates are here, and you’re looking really pretty today so, uh...y/n, i just want to say that i’ve really liked you for a long time.”
your grandmother shows you her first look of disapproval over your weaved fabrics when you start creating pieces that seem to resemble the aura of a boy. as much as you don’t want to see her disappointed, tradition still stands that you have to design your fabrics according to how you would interpret your dreams and since you turned 18, all you’ve been dreaming about is your potential soulmate. of all 7 billion in the world, you just have to be one of the rare ones with the ability to interpret your dreams on textile and have these said dreams be your soulmate bond to someone else as well. instead of arbitrary colors or shapes resembling nature like your grandmother and everyone else, you’re trying to recreate the face of a boy your age with the kindest smile you’ve ever seen and the prettiest brown eyes; instead of putting the sounds of the ocean or the chirping of birds as they would be usually heard in dreams onto colorful fabric, you’re trying to mix red, orange, and yellow dyes on threads just to try and capture seungmin’s golden voice whenever he would sing to you in your dreams. your soulmate becomes your muse, the lasting impressions he makes on you in the 3 real-time seconds of dreaming that you spend with him embedding themselves into the blanket you’ve been tasked to make for the winter.
seungmin is more than flattered of course, finding genuine fascination in what you do and excitement to see you in person once university allows him. it’s only at the end of the year, however, right on christmas day, when he finally sees you on vacation in your town with his family—finding you at the beach party his new friend hyunjin invites him to where you dance around the bonfire with your own friends, wrapped in the blanket made of warm colors that just scream his very soul and aura. your eyes meet almost as soon as he arrives because of your soulmate pull, causing you to become flustered at realizing that you’re wearing the blanket design that’s been inspired by him, and before he knows it, kim seungmin is running to you and grabbing your arm. “hi.” he pants breathlessly, his relieved smile shining brightly against the orange glow of the fire to your side. “finally. it’s you!”
jeongin stares at his laptop for a solid 5 minutes in complete and utter confusion before his roommate seungmin pokes him on the side of his head and asks if he passed his dream university, snapping him out of reality. it’s not that he didn’t pass the entrance exam, definitely not because he’s still feeling confident from answering it from almost 6 months ago. rather, it’s that the acceptance e-mail sent to him by the university is for a completely different name, your name out of all applicants out there—that one person he sat next to at cram school and turned down at the end of the summer. logging into his social media accounts, he sees people voicing out their concerns for similar incidents, that they’re getting acceptance or rejection e-mails of other applicants instead of their own, and posts that aim to track down who’s gotten who to remedy this. when seungmin hears this, he simply shrugs and urges jeongin to simply message you and get over it since the two of you are connected on social media anyway. but still, jeongin takes another hour to message you with a simple, “hi, i got your e-mail. should i forward it to you?” even closing his laptop in a hurry and running back into the comfort of his blanket as soon as he hears the dreadful ping of the messenger app. he knows he shouldn’t be flustered to message you, especially with something as important as your acceptance letter, but he can’t help but feel weak in the knees at the thought of having to talk to you again after almost a year because all he can think about is that he really shouldn’t have rejected you in that offer to go to the movies in the first place.
what’s worse is that, since he sent the message over online, his thoughts can’t help but overthink your simple “really? here’s my e-mail” reply that comes not even a second after he sends his message—even more your follow-up reply of “i got yours too btw! i’ll forward it to you when you forward mine” when he doesn’t reply immediately. jeongin’s fingers uncontrollably shake as he musters up the courage to reply, face blushing red the entire time as he e-mails you your acceptance letter. all this time, considering how the two of you haven’t talked in a long time, he only thinks about one ambitious thought: “is it a bad time? to bring up that movie offer again?”
