"I heard our rival's CEO is either Chinese or Japanese," Wonwoo remarked, drawing the group's attention. "Who did you hear that from? And why didn't you share it as soon as you knew?" Jeonghan demanded.

"We weren't sure yet... so we decided to wait until Minghao and Hoshi could confirm it," Wonwoo explained. "What we know for sure is that they're not Korean," Soonyoung added, and Minghao and Hoshi nodded in agreement.

Xu Minghao is a Chinese member of Seventeen, known for his skills as both a hacker and a slasher. He's adept with blades, particularly nunchucks, and excels at coding. His contributions to the company include producing, design work, and managing store branches throughout the city alongside Mingyu.

Minghao shut his laptop and whispered something to Soonyoung, who nodded in response.

"I swear, if you keep another thing from us, I'll be the one to cut your tongues off," Seungkwan said, rolling his eyes at their exchange.

"S.Coups told us to keep quiet until now," Minghao clarified, and Wonwoo and Soonyoung. "But we need confirmation soon. The shipments are arriving in three days, and we can't afford any sabotage," another voice chimed in.

"We're aware," Jeonghan replied, glaring at the hacking team. "These hackers are too slow and don't take their jobs seriously."

"You can't blame us entirely. We've already done a lot for the group," Jihoon retorted, clearly annoyed.

"Jun, Dino, have you found any information yet?" Joshua asked, cutting through the argument. "We just returned from another mission, so apologies for the delay. We've confirmed that the rival company is indeed Chinese," Junhui said, tossing an envelope onto the table.

"You had this information all along and didn't share it sooner?" Jeonghan asked, grabbing the envelope and scanning its contents.

"We only just got it ourselves. Don't put the blame on us," Junhui replied.

"Well at least you guys did better on your researching than the hacking team," Seungkwan says, side-eyeing the team mentioned which makes Hoshi want to leap and beat Seungkwan up into a pulp, but of course, he wouldn't do that. Seungcheol would kill them if they caused another trouble.

Wen Junhui, another Chinese member of the group, is renowned for his research skills alongside Dino. He contributes to both planning and production and is responsible for disguises, which he handles with great expertise. His insane visuals are enough to make you think he'd bring no harm.

Lee Chan Lee Chan, known as Dino, is the maknae and excels in cons and disguises. He plays a key role in the group's planning and production and is known for his charisma, which enhances his disguise work.

Jeonghan, Joshua, Woozi, and Deokyeom left for their separate meetings, leaving the remaining eight members in the room.

"This is our first mission failure," one man said, disappointment evident in his voice. "It's not a complete failure yet. The deadline isn't up," Soonyoung assured him. "We were split into three groups, each with four members. We might have managed better if we had worked together."

"Ay, ay, it's alright, Vernon-ah. We just need to learn from our mistakes and do better next time," Seungkwan said, patting Vernon’s shoulder. "Besides, we all had different missions, so we couldn't assist each other."

Chwe Vernon, the American member, has high expectations and views 'failure' as unacceptable. He is involved in both business and gang operations, excelling as a strategist and sharpshooter.

"Even so, it's okay to be disappointed," Wonwoo said, standing up. "I'm leaving," he added before walking out."I’ll leave too," Vernon said, also rising from his seat and exiting. "Those two really have such huge egos," Seungkwan remarked as he watched them go.

You were at work at the beauty store, successfully convincing a customer to buy three products. The sale boosted your confidence.

"Mei, our boss is visiting today because of yesterday's incident," Yuqi informed you, and you acknowledged the news.

Li Mei Quiang / YN, the protagonist, is a persuasive and observant 22-year-old Chinese who has lived in Korea since age six. Your expertise in psychological thinking and sociability makes you effective in your job.

Song Yuqi, a Chinese who moved to Korea four years ago, has become your close friend. She often calls you 'Unnie,' meaning older sister, as she is two years younger than you.

Choi Beomgyu, Choi Beomgyu, your best friend and a part-time store employee, is a year older and works as a musician. His social nature and connection to his band add to his role at the store. He also has his own set of other friends that is part of his band, and is practically a social butterfly.

Lee Heeseung, one of the people that you hold close with, your guardian since you were six, took you in when you were lost at the airport. Though his family needed convincing, he became your legal guardian and treated you like his own sister (once he reached his legal age). Ever wondered how a six year old even got there? Well, you were lost at an airport, you didn't know how to speak korean, so he took you with him.

He works at a small company, enough to make a living while taking care of you. He is five years older and treats you like his real little sister.

Choi Seungcheol is the boss of the Seventeen group, known for his stern and commanding presence. He has successfully led the group in both business and gang activities for five years.

3 days later.

The tension in the air was palpable as you stood in front of the manager, his eyes drilling into yours with an intensity that made your skin crawl. “You didn’t recover the stolen products, did you?” His question was pointed, almost as if he was challenging you.

You raised an eyebrow, biting back the urge to lash out. “No, sir...” you answered, your tone laced with thinly veiled sarcasm. His hand shot out, gripping your chin, forcing you to meet his gaze. He smirked, a sinister glint in his eyes. “You know what that’ll cost you, right?”

A dangerous grin curled your lips. “And why exactly am I the only one getting punished? It’s not my fault your damn store doesn’t have any security.” You swatted his hand away, your voice dripping with defiance. Yuqi and Beomgyu exchanged knowing glances—they’d seen this side of you before.

The manager’s eyes narrowed, caught off guard by your audacity. “You little—do you want me to fire you?”

You didn’t back down. “Fire me? Because your store doesn’t have the budget for a single security guard? Or is it that you’re pocketing the money instead?” You tilted your head, feigning innocence, your voice cutting through the room like a knife.

For a moment, he was speechless, his bravado crumbling. “W-what are you implying?” gulping in his words at the sudden statement you had made. You grinned in a smug kind of way like the proud and confident woman that you are.

“You know exactly what I’m implying,” you shot back, leaning in just enough to make him uncomfortable. “The company’s successful nationwide. There’s no way it can’t afford proper security unless someone’s skimming off the top. Should I take this up with the CEO?”

Yuqi and Beomgyu were silently cheering you on from behind. Your boldness was nothing new to them, but it never failed to amaze. The manager, realizing he was backed into a corner, stammered out a weak excuse before scurrying off, tail between his legs. Of course, he could've defended himself, but you knew too much and he just couldn't find the words to deny it. He'd get away from more humiliation. As the manager, he'd have more power over you, but you towered over him so quickly he didn't have the time to escalate things. He didn't see that coming, he was the new manager after all.

“Damn, that was epic,” Beomgyu whispered, a smirk playing on his lips.

“Seriously, unnie, you’re my hero,” Yuqi added, eyes shining with admiration.

You waved them off, checking your phone as it buzzed. The manager had sent you a message, instructing you to handle an incoming shipment at the airport. A sly smile crept onto your face as you replied with a curt, “Send me the details.”

Jeonghan, Joshua, Woozi, and Deokyeom were sipping their coffees, scanning the bustling terminal. They were waiting for the arrival of a critical shipment—a shipment they suspected had been compromised by their rivals.

“There,” Jeonghan muttered, nodding towards a woman talking to a man who matched the description of the dealer they were expecting. His eyes narrowed as he noticed something off. “That’s not the manager.”

“What do you mean?” Joshua asked, following Jeonghan’s gaze.

“The manager is supposed to be a guy,” Jeonghan replied, suspicion growing in his chest. “Could they be using someone else to do their dirty work?”

Woozi was already tapping away on his laptop, pulling up information on the mystery woman. “Li Mei Quiang... She’s listed as an employee from one of our branches, but there’s not much else here.”

Jeonghan’s mind was racing. “Why would a manager delegate something this important to a regular employee?”

Woozi’s eyes widened as more information came through. “It’s possible the manager’s a spy. He’s only been with the company a month—just before this whole mess with two groups started.”

Joshua frowned, piecing it together. “It was all planned. They sent him in as a mole.”

“And what about her?” Deokyeom chimed in, nodding towards you. “She could be part of it, too. There’s so little info on her, and she’s been working there for two years. Seems like a perfect candidate for a spy.”

Jeonghan sighed, his gaze still locked on you. “We’ll keep an eye on her, but for now, let’s make sure these products don’t end up in the wrong hands.”

The four men watched as you and the dealer loaded boxes into a truck. The tension was high as they followed you to the store, where they intercepted you just as you were about to offload the shipment.

Woozi approached you with a steely determination, flashing his ID. “These products need to be examined first.”

You glared at him, blocking his path. “And who the hell are you to make that call?”

Woozi’s irritation was palpable, but he kept his cool as he showed you his identification. Reluctantly, you stepped aside, arms crossed, watching as they took the boxes.

“So, we managed to stop the sabotaged shipment,” Soonyoung said, slumping into his chair, a sigh of relief escaping his lips. “But I’m still not sure about that girl,” Jeonghan muttered, pacing the room.

“You think she’s working with them?” Chan asked, leaning back in his seat.

“Possibly,” Jeonghan replied, rubbing his temples. “She might be more involved than we thought.”

“Relax, hyung,” Chan said, trying to ease the tension. “They wouldn’t send someone important out in the open like that. It’s too risky.”

Before Jeonghan could respond, Wonwoo and Mingyu entered the room, looking drained. “Turns out the ones who sabotaged our products were from EXO,” Woozi announced, breaking the silence.

“EXO?” Chan echoed, incredulous. “What the hell do they want with us?”

“They see us as competition,” Seungcheol said, his voice grim. “They’ve started a business here in Korea, and we’re in their way.”

Their company has been going well for the past 5 years, yet this commotion started about a week ago, making the rest of Seventeen members alert at the suddenness. EXO was a chinese group gang who had recently started their own business here in Korea a few months ago.

“Great, so now we’re dealing with a bunch of sore losers who resort to sabotage,” Seungkwan scoffed.

Seungcheol nodded, his expression dark. “We’ve lost a lot of money because of them. But this isn’t over. We’re going to double down on security and make sure every shipment is checked thoroughly. And as for that girl...”

Jeonghan straightened, his eyes narrowing. “We’ll keep a close watch on her. If she’s working with EXO, we’ll find out soon enough.”

He knew something was different too, but they also could be wrong. Wasting a time on that is just a big no for them given to the situation they're in for now.

Seventeen knew that they've already sent a few spies to their company to take note of whatever they had planned, so EXO was practically one step ahead of Seventeen.

A tense silence settled over the room as the members of Seventeen prepared for the inevitable confrontation. The stakes had never been higher, but they weren’t about to let anyone bring them down.

You walked back into the store, still reeling from the encounter. Your mind raced, wondering what the hell just happened. But there was no time to dwell on it—you had a job to do. And something told you this was just the beginning of a much bigger game.

The sun barely broke through the clouds that Sunday, casting a muted light across the room as you moved with purpose, determined to clean every corner of your apartment. Heeseung wasn’t home, so you had the place to yourself—rare time to get things in order on your day off.

As you wiped down the countertops, the silence was interrupted by your phone buzzing on the counter. You glanced at the screen: an unknown number. Ignoring it was second nature; you never took calls from numbers you didn’t recognize. But the phone buzzed again and again, the persistent vibration grating on your nerves.

“The hell is this?” you muttered, irritation creeping into your voice as you prepared to block the number. Just as you were about to hit the button, the phone buzzed again, your thumb accidentally grazing the answer key in your frustration.

“You finally answered,” came a hoarse voice, instantly familiar and unwelcome. Your heart skipped a beat, a cold realization sinking in. “Who is this?” you demanded, now holding the phone to your ear.

“Baby… Please… Come back to me,” the man’s voice cracked, punctuated by the sound of soft sobs. Recognition hit you like a wave—this was your ex, the one you broke up with over a year ago, his obsession clearly as strong as ever.You hung up abruptly, a frustrated sigh escaping your lips as you massaged your temples, trying to stave off the headache that was beginning to form. The phone buzzed again, the same number flashing on the screen. You blocked it immediately, your frustration bubbling over. “How did this guy even get my new number?” you muttered. You’d changed it twice, yet somehow he’d found you again.

Hours later, the apartment was finally spotless, and the only task left was to take out the trash. You had missed the janitor’s usual rounds, so you grabbed the bag and headed for the stairs. As you descended, the faint sound of footsteps echoed behind you. At first, you brushed it off as someone else taking the stairs, but as you reached the third floor, a hand suddenly gripped your arm, spinning you around.

Your instinct was to fight, to kick the assailant away, but then you saw his face—Riki, your ex-lover. Your body tensed, recognizing him instantly.“Riki…?” you muttered, eyes narrowing in disbelief.

Nishimura Riki, the same guy you’d dated for three months before calling it quits. Heeseung’s friend, a year younger than you, with a reputation for being far too obsessive. Even after a year, he clearly hadn’t moved on.

“I told you, we can’t,” you said, your voice firm with frustration. “Babe, please, just one last chance,” Riki pleaded, his voice desperate as he grabbed your hand, ignoring the trash bag you were holding. “I just held the trash, don’t touch that,” you snapped, yanking your hand away. “Let’s talk some other time. Not now.”

But Riki wasn’t about to give up easily. He lunged forward, wrapping his arms around you from behind in a desperate hug. “Riki! Let go of me or I’ll cut both your arms off!” you yelled, your voice echoing off the stairwell walls.

“Baby… I don’t know what I did wrong, why did we have to break up?” Riki’s voice was filled with pain, his grip still tight around you. “I swear, this guy is so stubborn,” you thought, pushing him away with all your strength until you were finally free.

“For the thousandth time, you didn’t do anything wrong. We just didn’t work out, okay?” you said, putting as much distance as possible between you and him.

Riki was a good guy—too good. Caring, loving, understanding, he had every quality someone could want. But that was the problem; he was too nice, and you didn’t feel like you deserved it. You didn’t take things seriously, and you knew that if you didn’t end it early, it would only hurt him more. But looking at him now, you realized how wrong you’d been.

You shouldn't have dated him in the first place, right? Your brother had set you up with him, on which you did agree to go on dates until you found it to yourself that you weren't that serious about it, which made you regret your decision.

“I’m sorry, Riki,” you said, your voice softer now as you turned to finally head downstairs. You hurried to the ground floor, feeling his gaze on you until you reached the exit. You placed the trash bag with the others by the side of the building, taking a deep breath as you bent over, hands on your knees.

You watched as Riki’s figure retreated, driving away, his shoulders slumped in defeat. Just as you felt a slight relief, another figure caught your eye—a man dressed entirely in black, with a mask covering most of his face and a cap pulled low over his eyes. You’d seen him around the complex before, always looking out of place. You decided not to get involved—whatever his business was, it was none of yours.

Back in your apartment, exhaustion washed over you as you slumped onto the bed, scrolling through your phone mindlessly until sleep finally claimed you.

Across town, in a dimly lit meeting room, a man entered, his footsteps echoing in the silence. Eleven figures were already seated around a large table, their faces obscured by shadows. The man took his place, and the one next to him leaned in, whispering, “What took you so long?”

“Seventeen has upgraded their security,” the man replied, his voice low. “The new system’s protection is too high—I can’t hack into it anymore.”

The leader at the head of the table slammed his hand down, the sound reverberating through the room. “Shut it. Because of your reckless actions, they found out about the shipments! Now you can’t even stay focused!” he shouted, his voice filled with barely contained anger. “Contact those seven boys and the three spies I’ve placed in each of their stores. Seventeen is already on to us.”

The group nodded in agreement, the tension in the room thick enough to cut with a knife.

The following Tuesday, you were back at work, talking to Yuqi about the argument you had with Heeseung the day before. “Typical sibling fights,” Yuqi remarked with a shrug, while you rolled your eyes in response.

“Even if I’m mad, I don’t have the right to be. He’s the one who raised me,” you said, sighing as you fixed the shelves, Yuqi nodding along.

After a brief silence, Yuqi suddenly perked up. “Oh, unnie, do you have any plans for your birthday tomorrow?” she asked, her tone light.

You thought for a moment before shrugging. “Not really. Heeseung said he’s busy, and Beomgyu has something going on, so I guess there are no plans this year.”

"But unnie, we should still celebrate!" Yuqi insists, her excitement has not diminished. "How about we go clubbing? You're stressed, and maybe a night out will help."

You considered her suggestion, a small smile tugging at your lips. “Not a bad idea. I didn’t have anything planned, but I guess this could work.”

The next day, Shuhua picked you up in her luxurious limo, Yuqi and Minnie already inside. You wore a simple black dress with white off-shoulder puffed sleeves and a slit up the side, practical yet elegant. Your makeup was light, accentuating your natural beauty.

As soon as you stepped into the car, the girls squealed in delight, their eyes wide with admiration. “You guys act like you’ve never seen me before,” you quipped, rolling your eyes as you took a seat.

“We just wanted to give you extra attention since it’s your birthday,” Minnie said with a chuckle, the other two nodding in agreement. “Happy birthday, pretty girl,” Shuhua added, handing you a pair of designer bags.

“Thank you, girlies,” you replied, smiling as you accepted the gifts. Shuhua, ever the generous CEO, had picked out something luxurious, while Yuqi handed you a small box containing a delicate necklace engraved with all your names.

“Aww, this is really sweet,” you said, giving Yuqi a hug before slipping on the necklace. The car ride was loud and full of laughter, the four of you enjoying each other’s company until you arrived at the club.

The night was going well—too well, perhaps. A few hours in, the girls were already passed out, Minnie was nowhere to be found, Yuqi was slumped over the table, and Shuhua was making out with some random guy. You found yourself alone at the bar, the night still young but already feeling drawn out.

It was just after midnight, and you watched the crowd from above, perched on a stool with your legs crossed and your chin resting in your hand. You were starting to feel the effects of the drinks you’d had when a man walked into the room, instantly drawing everyone’s attention.

He was striking—tall, around 178-180 cm, dressed in a slim-fitting, jet-black suit that accentuated his lean frame. The suit’s fabric caught the light with a subtle sheen, perfectly tailored to his body. Underneath, a crisp white shirt contrasted sharply against the dark suit, the collar open just enough to reveal a glimpse of his collarbone. His deep burgundy tie added a splash of color, and a simple silver tie pin completed the look. His hair, slightly tousled yet meticulously styled, framed his sharp jawline, softening the intensity of his gaze. The way he carried himself—with a quiet confidence and a subtle, knowing smile—commanded the room’s attention.

His presence was magnetic, and despite yourself, being tipsy, you found yourself drawn into his presence. He started a conversation with you, offering you a few more drinks, making you feel more tipsy and you just couldn't help but feel drawn to this man in front of you. After a few moments of talking, the next thing you knew is that you had your lips all over his already.

Noah, my friend, I am SO HAPPY you asked. I have no self control whatsoever so I will be answering this with a thoroughness nobody wants or needs. (also I will answer this question over and over for many reasons: 2 being that A- my tastes/favorites change on a damn-near hourly basis and C- I love dramas so much that I'll always be willing to talk about them!)

Side note: If you take a look at my Whump List Library, you'll see that links are highlighted in purple if it's a favorite (or one I simply really liked) It's safe to assume I recommend all of them but I'll go ahead and list my best of the best!

UNDER THE CUT

Vigilante (MDL) - This is by far my favorite drama right now. Like- above all of the other ones that have ever existed. (That's saying something believe me) I'm not exaggerating when I say I watch it every single day. Every single day. I'm mak,ing a whump list for this one and I may have fanfics in progress.

Synopsis: After Kim Ji Yong (pictured above on both sides) witnesses his mother's brutal murder and her attacker's light prison sentence, he begins living two entirely different lives as an adult. On weekdays, he's a model student at the police university (left). During the weekends, he punishes criminals who'd received light sentences and continue to commit criminal acts with the name Vigilante (right). (MDL)

Fuujinshi (MDL) (Whump List) - If I had to choose a favorite Japanese drama, Fuujinshi would be my pick. Like, it's not even close. By a long shot. This drama was recommended to me to make a whump list for and I remain eternally grateful. This is one I rewatch a lot.

Synopsis: Osagami Kakeru is a blade master who is tasked with the mission of sealing the ''blades of filth'' called Kegareyaiba. These blades are born from the dark sides of people's hearts and make those corrupted by that filth murderers. However, with every blade sealed, the filth also affects Kakeru... (MDL)

Healer (MDL) (Whump List) - This is another one of my favorites! It was actually my favorite Korean drama before Vigilante came around. They're definitely similar but I will say that Healer is not nearly as dark as Vigilante. They do, however share some cast members!

Synopsis: Seo Jung Hoo is a special kind of night courier, known only as "Healer" by his clients. For the right price and with the help of a genius hacker, he gets his clients whatever they want, as long as it doesn't involve murder. His latest job leads him to a second-rate tabloid writer, Chae Young Shin, and the successful reporter, Kim Moon Ho. He begins to uncover the mystery of his own shared past with the two reporters, thus putting them all in danger. Can this errand-boy-turned-vigilante save everyone? (MDL)

Duel (MDL) (Whump List) - Another big favorite of mine! This drama has almost every trope you can think of, it's wild. This one has been one I've suggested to people since day one. If Duel has no more fans it's because I'm dead.

Synopsis: Jang Deuk Cheon, a hardened detective cop whose daughter is kidnapped, begins a chase against great odds to solve the mystery of his situation and find his child before it is too late. He starts to hunt down the suspect using the one clue he has: Two men with the same face were at the crime scene.

The Untamed (MDL) (Whump List) - If you know me at all, you know how much I absolutely ADORE this drama. It's my favorite Chinese drama ever and yes, it's another drama I watch over again a lot.

Synopsis: Wei Wu Xian and Lan Wang Ji, two talented disciples of respected clans, meet during cultivation training and accidentally discover a secret carefully hidden for many years. Taking on the legacy of their ancestors, they decide to rid the world of the ominous threat. But in a dramatic turn of events, Wei Wu Xian dies. Sixteen years later, Wei Wu Xian is brought back to life through a self-sacrificing ritual. He conceals himself behind a mask and assumes the identity of his summoner. Soon, Wei Wu Xian reunites with Lan Wang Ji and they start working together to solve the mysteries of the present and unravel the truth behind the events in the past. (MDL)

"I have a proposal" NCT Mafia Au

~Just a random idea I had~

Several cars waited in front of the gate, a gate that said "Ncity" on top of it. Anyone would recognize this as the home of the notorious mafia family, NCT. One of the biggest families out there, they were really well known all around Korea and feared. So who dares to request an audience with this family?

"What are you wearing to the banquet?" A guard standing next to the driver side asked, peering into the car in the backseat.

"Black on black, perhaps with some chains." A man, well dressed in a dark grey suit replied, he adjusted his watch as he kept his eyes forward at the mansion in front of them.

The guard stepped away and nodded to the others, the gates opened and the cars pulled up, parking in front of the mansion. Out came 7 men, all dressed in suits like the first man. They looked experienced, and rich. Whoever they were, they meant business. They walked up to the door, the youngest of this group knocked on the door.

Another man answered the door, he wore a button up red shirt, black dress pants, hair slicked back and sported an expensive watch as well. He eyed this group up and down.

"Kun. What pleasure do we have to see you all here today?" The man smiled at them, it seemed fake and perhaps it was.

"I'm sure Taeyong has informed you all already, Johnny." Kun replied, returning the smile.

"Right, the meeting you requested. Very well, follow me gentlemen."

Johnny led the group into a sort of dinning room, the table was long with many chairs, Kun wasn't sure how many people would be in this meeting but he was prepared for the whole family if needed. He sat at one end of the table, his group sitting beside him.

"I'll tell Taeyong of your arrival, feel free to ask our maids for drinks." Johnny bowed his head to them and left.

One of Kun's boys couldn't stop playing with his rings nervously, he's heard so much of NCT but wasn't sure how they would react to Kun's plan. Another leaned over, putting his hand over the nervous boy's fidgeting ones.

"Jungwoo, calm down. Kun's got this." He smiled to the slightly older male.

Jungwoo whispered back, "I know Lucas, but what if I mess something up?"

"Nonsense, Jungwoo you've trained for this, you'll be great." Kun chimed in crossing his hands on the table.

Eventually the door opened once more, Taeyong walked through followed by about 12 others. They all took their places at the table, Taeyong sitting on the opposite end from Kun.

"Wayv, what an occasion for us to meet like this," Taeyong was the first to speak up, "I do wonder what this meeting is about?"

Kun smiled to the leader in front of him, "I have a proposal for you, Taeyong."

This peaked everyone's interest. They were NCT, they had anything you could think, what could a small family like Wayv possibly have to offer them?

Kun took the silence to continue talking, "I've heard that some of your boys have been in my territory. Apparently, you've been trying to take my business? I wonder what NCT is doing in China?"

Taeyong laughed and leaned on his hand as he watched Kun for a moment, "I see nothing gets past you Kun. It's true. We have been scouting out in China. There's some opportunities out there that I've been highly interested in. Why? Is that a problem for you?" He raised a challenging eyebrow.

Kun laughed as well, "Of course not. I'd be here to announce a war then, but that's no fun is it?"

"What are you suggesting then?" Yuta spoke up, his tone was harsh.

"Yuta, that's not how we speak to guests. But I am curious Kun, let's cut to the chase. What do you want?" Taeyong scolded Yuta as he turned back to Kun.

"I propose a partnership." As the words left his mouth, the NCT members began whispering among themselves.

"Oh? What does this partnership offer us exactly?"

"Well you'll share our established claims in China, as well as our branch in Thailand. Perhaps you can have some of contracts in Germany as well."

"You're a small group, how could you possibly have all these connections?" A member named Doyoung questioned, he leaned back in his chair with his arms crossed. He simply voiced everyone's suspicions.

Kun smiled once more, "Our group may be small, but we are very diverse. Shall I introduce my members?"

Taeyong nodded, waving his hand in a way to signal him to go on.

"Well let's start with my right hand, Ten. He runs our Thailand operations." Kun spoke, Ten stood up and bowed to them all. "While Thailand is main responsibility, he also handles many of our connections thanks to him knowing 4 languages fluently."

"What languages do you speak?" Johnny raised his hand and asked.

"Korean, English, Thai, Chinese and currently learning Japanese." He replied as he sat down again.

"You speak Japanese? Prove it then." Yuta spoke to him.

"I said I am learning Japanese, I am not fluent in it yet but I hope it is adequate enough for you." Ten replied, without a stutter, definitely impressing Yuta as he nodded to Taeyong.

"Interesting, he would be useful, how else do you have?"

"This is Lucas and Jungwoo, our spies." Jungwoo and Lucas stood up and bowed as well. "They can get us just about any information. Like the passcode to get into Ncity." Kun motioned them to sit down.

"And how'd you manage that?" Taeil spoke up this time.

"With our handsome looks, and sweet talking? Anything is possible." Lucas replied confidently. Jungwoo stayed quiet.

"Jungwoo, that's not a traditional Chinese name is it?" Taeyong asked curiously.

"I'm Korean, sir." He finally spoke up.

"Ah I see, continue Kun."

"We have Xiaojun and Hendrey, our hackers. Yangyang, the one who handles our German affairs."

"Interesting bunch you have here Kun." Taeyong applauded. "I will admit, having these assets would be beneficial to Ncity. But let's not ignore the elephant in the room, what do you want out of this?"

"All we want is part of the Ncity empire. Anyone would be foolish to ignore the influence and power of NCT. Though we are a small group, we are willing to be loyal and benefit this family, if you let us."

"Words can be broken easily, how will you prove your loyalty?" Doyoung asked.

"We offer one of our members to you. You may do as you will with Jungwoo." Kun gestured to him. "If we must, we will all go through your trainings as well."

Taeyong clapped and laughed once more, "I like this spirit of yours Kun! A go-getter, a man who knows what he wants! You'll even offer us one of your few men? You must be serious."

Kun smiled back to him and bowed his head "Of course, Taeyong. I never joke about matters like this."

"Tell you what, Kun. I accept your proposal. As a sign of my sincerity, we will give you one of our family members as well." Taeyong looked among his members. "We have a few Chinese members of our own, I'm sure they were the ones you spotted in your territory. Have your pick. Renjun, part of the Dream unit and our secondary medic, Chenle, also part of the Dream unit and bomb specialist, or Winwin, our sniper and spy." Taeyong motioned for them to stand up, they did and bowed to Kun, greeting him in Chinese.

Ten leaned over to Kun and whispered to him. Kun nodded.

"Taeyong, I respect your sincerity and I believe Winwin will be a great asset to our team." Taeyong stood up and walked around the table to Kun, shaking his hand. "Kun, I look forward to working with you. I'll properly welcome all of you to our wonderful family once you go through our training. My teachers won't go easy on you all, I hope that's ok."

"Of course, I wouldn't expect anything less." Kun smiled. Winwin and Jungwoo exchanging glances, Jungwoo didn't notice the glares he was getting from Yuta specifically.

May 2018: assault on Peter Durante. Frikoski and Durante partnership is off.

July 2018: assassination of Ivanoff Frikoski’s wife. SLATE members are laid off, Michelle Wilson is de promoted .

November 2018: Plethora Valentino finally returns home in shambles, Brian Valentino confronts Peter Durante and Jason Byrne. The idea of possible tension is brought to light.

December 2018: Under the radar due to lost job, Michelle Wilson contacts Ivan Frikoski and discusses idea to destroy the Durante empire. Idea escalates to Durante empire and any governments heavily associated such as U.S and other allies

January 2019: Plethora Valentino retires assassin job, put under government surveillance and signs non-disclosure documents prohibiting talk of his job or anything he knows, and will be treated as treason against any governments he has worked for and punishable by torture or death. No longer able to witness any suspicious behavior

Gwen Richman, in offers to redeem herself, is “befriended” by Michelle Wilson and assigned multiple tasks in spying on other SLATE generals and steal documents. She is to use her STEM courses as coverup and tools. In return she is given higher benefits among her peers

March 2019: Aj Richman finds out about Gwen and Michelle’s arrangement, is forced to join said arrangement. Job is to tamper with documents and jobs recruited on without getting caught. Is also given benefits

May 2019: Peter and Jason are alerted of another failed assassination commissioned by Japan, forced to discontinue treaties and associations. Adds to growing agitation among associates. Peter completely stops funding SLATE and cuts all ties from the organization.

July 2019: Gwen assassinates vice president of United States under SLATE orders in commission from an unnamed country. U.S government scrambles for explanation, initially puts blame on Durante. Serves as distraction for Ivan and Michelle to start gathering treaty documents from Durante specifically, gathering info on what to set up as broken rules. Peter proves that he has nothing to do with the assassination of the Vice President. Jason suggests that it has to do with the recent cut ties with Russia due to payments being both delayed and not paid in full at the set time between them and Durante. Peter and Jason investigate correspondents between Russia and America.

October 2019: increasing agitation between Anahii and Peter, resulting in a temporary breakup. Anahii moves out. Peter and Mr. Stanhope become increasingly agitated at each other due to Peter’s new careless attitude to everything that has occurred within the past few months. Stanhope informs American officials that Durante might not be as reliable as they thought due to new careless attitudes. It’s taken into consideration but nothing much comes from it

Cassandra Valentino is approached by Michelle Wilson and proposed to join the efforts in taking down Durante. Michelle used personal information such as mental state of her husband and increasing agitation amongst Durante and other powers as a sign of unsafe possibilities. Alarmed, Cassandra declines, afraid of getting caught or getting into something she doesn’t want to.

January 2020: Anahii Durante is abducted at a Gala, no where to be seen. Peter is alerted, and holds off on a search for her, afraid it is either a trap to compromise any men he might send, and out of general disinterest. Anahii is now in captivity of Ivan Frikoski, and forcefully married to him

February 2019: Cassandra finally informs her husbands of Michelle’s proposition. Still angered at the damage his husband had endured, Brian Valentino seeks after Michelle and takes up her proposition instead. Begins to gather info on politicians and governments distributing drugs to communities. Two birds with one stone, attack of Durante and Governments. Anahii refuses every advance Ivan makes towards her, failed to escape once, breaking both her arms in the process. Peter attempts suicide. Extremely alarmed, Jason forces Peter to go to therapy and take a break. Jason takes over work for the time being.

March 2019: Anahiis arms are removed, told that they were damaged beyond repair. Enraged and horrified, she attempts to kill Ivan, but is too weak to do so. She’s put in a private rehab center. Jason begins to start cracking down on suspicious activity in transactions and sees opened files on drug distribution on dates they shouldn’t have been opened. Jason contacts Brian and threatens to terminate him if he’s had anything to do with it. Alarmed, he assures he had nothing to do it. The Valentino family is now red flagged. Brian cuts off all ties with Michelle.

April 2019: Peter hires a new secretary Meredith to replace Anahii, Jason becomes increasingly jealous over time. Jason temporarily moves in with Peter. Anahii attempts escape once again and fails, is “executed” by Rosalina Frikoski on camera. Doesn’t work because Rosalina is a child and doesn’t wanna kill her so only ends up making a light gash. Ivan has a new found interest in Anahii, seeing she is able to handle pain like he is and heal at “remarkable” pace. Gwen gathers information on other de promoted officials of SLATE after the assassination and finds that most of them are now dead. Majority of them were killed at both request of the U.S and other governments involved with SLATE and Durante for security reasons and to prevent whistleblowers. Those who aren’t killed, like Michelle, are ones that still have jobs within SLATE.

May 2019: Michelle finds out Ivan kidnapped Anahii and is enraged. Ivan assures her that once Peter and Jason find out they’ll think this is the most they’ll do. Aj informs Michelle of a new commissioned assassination deal between England and SLATE. Plans to assassinate the Queen and blame in on North Korea in hopes of producing a new world war, effectively so England could invade the country and gain title of ending that reign. Eases tensions with the public and creates new senses of nationalism as well as increased military strength. Ivan leaks these documents to the public, completely severing SLATE ties from the U.K and causes the U.K and North Korean War. England scrambles for military help, and requests aid from Durante. Peter (back to work) and Jason supply high grade weapons and treaties for nuclear weapons. With the new war, Durante is distracted and redeeming itself.

June 2019: Ivan requests to meet Gwen and Aj, offers deal to get them away from their current lives and lead them to freedom and luxuries. Gwen declines, sensing that his proposition is bullshit. Aj considers, however its unknown if she took it or not. Regardless, she is never seen again. Peter is informed that Ivan has Anahii. Not wanting to send anyone after her due to their relationship issues and the fact they’re technically broken up, he does nothing. Anahii escapes for the final time, and is successful. She calls Peter on a pay phone, and he reluctantly sends men to get her. She is brought back to him and is shocked at her new appearance and what she went through. Reluctantly let’s her live with him until she finds a new place to live. They resume a “relationship” but Peter remains absent while Anahii is longing. Durante begins to keep closer eyes on Frikoski

September 2019: Meredith attempts to kill Peter in their home, breaking in despite every security measure. Unknown as to how. Anahii kills Meredith and call for someone to dispose of the body. Heartbroken and enraged to find they’ve been sleeping with each other, Anahii moves out for good, periodically taking her stuff and moving it into an unknown location.

November 2019: Peter is informed that a strain of COVID had been leaked in Wuhan, China and is requested for aid. He declines. This effectively forces China to break ties with North Korea to focus on COVID. North Korea loses the war and is dismantled. Becomes part of U.K. China no longer works with Durante and tensions increase. Michelle after studying the Durante security system during the time Meredith breaks in, goes to Brian for any information assuming he would know what kind of security he had. He refuses gives her details. Michelle threatens to expose and kill his entire family if he doesn’t resume helping her. He’s already too far in to start backing out now. He knows too much. Terrified, he gives her basic information, however is unaware she is taking notes on his home as well assuming that’s the basis knowledge he’s using. Ivan contacts Chinese officials and requests aid, specifically regarding any hackers and military in taking down Durante. They agree.

January 2020: Plethora Valentino comes out of retirement and is recruited once again as an assassin, and is informed to assassinate the President of the United States at request of the Afghanistan. Ivan and Michelle leaked these requests, however voided Plethora and other assassins names. The assassination is never carried out.

This contributed heavily to the already existing war between the countries, and threats of world war 3 arise. This also kept the U.S distracted and focusing on using their money and power on the military and new war. Heavy tensions spark between Durante and existing powers, everyone sensing low security on Durantes part. Any and all deals have been both temporarily and permanently discontinued. Durante finally heavily cracks down on any treasonous activity occurring. Cassandra notices that stocks are plummeting, not from any activity on her side. They quickly go back up. Still confused, she contacts her boss, who says to report it to Durante. Remembering her interaction with Michelle, wonders if this had anything to do with it. Still afraid of putting her family at risk, especially since they’re now red flagged, she doesn’t bring it up to Peter or Jason. They can’t have any more discrepancies tied to their family name.

February 2020: Anahii meets Jae-Hwa and they hit it off. Michelle abducts both Michael Rivera and Vanessa Saeed and force them to start a plan. They will go to Peter with “evidence” that both Ivan and Michelle have counted that state Michelle Wilson is the one responsible for all of the information leaks and compromised jobs (however they will not be able to trace to any correspondence with Ivan). This will cause both false comfort among Durante and Peter and Jason will send someone to kill her. They are to now create a crime scene, forging that an assassination has occurred. They are to spread her DNA via blood and any other body fluids and hair the spot in which she was “killed”. When Peter and Jason are to come to the scene, there will be no body because it was already disposed and cremated. They will walk in while cleaners are cleaning up the mess. Because recording assassinations is prohibited, all they need is to set up the scene in her home. Pictures are also now prohibited to prevent further leaking in any scenario. Michelle will have successfully faked her death. She will hide with Ivan from that point on. Whatever trouble they get into for disposing the body prior to Durantes orders is what they’re going to have to deal with. Better then dying if they didn’t comply.

May 2020: Anahii temporarily moves back in while Jae- Hwa finishes business with his family company and prepares for retirement. The two are not together yet but agree to move in with each other once everything is settled. Covid is now widespread. All correspondences between Durante and Government correspondences between other countries are delayed. Peter and Jason deal with their own feelings for each other in private, causing both to fall into some depression. Jason being worried Peter is going to attempt again, completely moves in with him.

Both begin working from home, begin to plan on assassinating Ivan. They both agree that with the radio silence from Ivan’s side after Anahii was rescued means danger. Gwen informs Michelle of possible tensions between Durante and Russia after coming across old documents regarding their break up and missed payments. Ivan contacts Russia and requests aid. They agree.

June 2020: Plethora and Cassandra find out about Brian’s correspondences between Michelle. Huge fight ensues. All three agree it’s now best that they just comply with Michelle after being threatened with death if they didn’t. Brian, terrified that he fucked up his marriage, passes out from stress. Wakes up and assured that he didn’t, but what the fuck Brian. All three don’t know the weight of what is going to happen because of their involvement. After some hate sex with Peter (both extremely drunk), Anahii moves out with Jae-Hwa, her now boyfriend. Peter figures out he’s gay.

July 2020: Plethora is informed that he will be assassinating Ivan when the time comes, because despite the last failed assassination he has an incredible record. Further stress between the Valentino family ensues. He accepts reluctantly, having their family already be red flagged from tampering on their jobs, denying will most likely result in either loss of power or death. The three desperately hide the correspondence from Michelle. Michelle successfully fakes her death. Peter and Jason are convinced, however expectedly pissed that the “body” was disposed of prior to their arrival at the scene. Both Michael and Vanessa are then killed to prevent whistleblowing by Ivan. Their deaths are unreported, covered up by them being fired by SLATE. Gwen is promoted and now no longer working with Michelle. Peter and Jason finally confess to each other and are now in a relationship. All attention to any treasonous behavior between any party is now ignored.

August 2020: after all info against neighboring countries, along with already obtained info between correspondences regarding sex trafficking, media, and organ trafficking with Ivan, aid from China and Russia, everything is set. Ivan and Michelle mark a date to kill Durante, the Valentino’s, and to leak all known data and take over the world. They begin recruiting soldiers under the radar, along with Ivan’s already existing militia

November 2020: Plans to assassinate Ivan continue. Peter and Jason get a surrogate for their child. They’re informed Anahii is 4 months pregnant immediately after. Anahii and Peter object to get an abortion, however Anahii does not want to care for the child. Peter and Jason agree to raise the child. They prepare for two kids. They begin to bundle up on security for their home and identities.

December 2020: Cassandra Valentino is pregnant. All tensions between Durante and Michelle seem to have dissipated due to the radio silence on both parties.

January 2021: the stock market crashes. America is sent into another Great Depression. American and allied powers are in financial shambles. Cassandra, petrified that this now confirms the beginning of the end, rushes to Peter and Jason and tells them everything. Enraged, they put the assassination of Ivan into full effect. They send Plethora out immediately, the job to be carried out as soon as he gets there. Brian and Cassandra scramble to boost security. Anahii is confronted at her home by Michelle, whom Anahii is shocked that is still alive, however delighted to see her friend. Michelle informs her of what is going to happen, and that she encourages Anahii to go under witness protection with her. Shocked, Anahii declines as she doesn’t want to get involved with any of this kind of thing ever again. She is also angered, realizing she now has to care for a child. However she doesn’t object, her hatred for Peter and Jason already brewed, they bid their farewell to each other.

End: Peter and Jason are assassinated. Ivan and Michelle’s forces break into the Valentino home, assassinating them as well. Their men are informed to preserve the fetus in Cassandra. Plethora Valentino is assassinated upon arrival where he was supposed to kill Ivan. The Whitehouse, Pentagon, and other American facilities are breached by both Ivan’s, Russia’s, and Chinas military. The same occurs amongst European, Middle Eastern, and other neighboring countries. The world is sent into a WW3. The Frikoski empire has begun.

Meat Is Latest Cyber Victim as Hackers Hit Top Supplier JBS (Bloomberg) The world’s biggest meat supplier has become the latest casualty of a cybersecurity attack. JBS SA shut its North American and Australian computer networks after an organized assault on Sunday on some of its servers, the company said by email. The attack sidelined two shifts and halted processing at one of Canada’s largest meatpacking plants, while the company canceled all beef and lamb kills across Australia, industry website Beef Central said. Some kill and fabrication shifts have also been canceled in the U.S. Hackers now have the commodities industry in their crosshairs with the JBS attack coming just three weeks after the operator of the biggest U.S. gasoline pipeline was targeted. It’s also happened as the global meat industry battles lingering Covid-19 absenteeism after recovering from mass outbreaks last year that saw plants shut and supplies disrupted.

China’s future gateway to Latin America is a mega-port in Peru (America Economia) Despite local opposition, Chinese investors are pumping billions into the Chancay project, a massive port complex north of Lima that will boost trade between China and Latin America as a whole, reports Gonzalo Torrico in business magazine America Economia. The Chancay port complex, with an initial investment of $1.3 billion, will turn this fishing and farming town into a regional hub that could redefine shipping lines in the entire southern Pacific. Since 2019, the project’s main stakeholder is the Chinese state firm Cosco Shipping Ports (60%). Cosco is a partner in 52 port projects worldwide. But in the Americas, Chancay is the first being built with Chinese capital. The complex is expected to be fully functional by 2024, helping consolidate China’s influence in South America, and in Peru especially. In the last decade, this country has become the regional crux of China’s economic and geopolitical interests. So far, Chinese firms have invested more than $30 billion in Peru, a figure exceeded only by money spent in Brazil. The principal sector is mining, which has absorbed more than half all these investments and has proven to be an excellent source for the mineral materials China needs to keep its industrial sector humming. One of those materials is copper, which Peru produces in great quantity.

More boats on canals and rivers than in 18th century as thousands opt for life afloat (Guardian) Little more than six months ago, Paul and Anthony Smith-Storey were still living in a three-bedroom semi-detached house near St Helens in Merseyside. But now the couple—and their dog, Dexter—have traded it all in for a life afloat in a two-metre-wide narrowboat on Peak Forest Canal in Derbyshire. “We took the equity out of the house, bought the boat and thought we’d enjoy it while we were still alive,” said Anthony, 48, an NHS sonographer. They are not the only ones. Record numbers are spending time on Britain’s rivers and canals, according to the Canal and River Trust. NSA spying row: US and Denmark pressed over allegations (BBC) European powers have pressed the US and Denmark over reports the two worked together to spy on top European politicians, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Danish broadcaster DR said Denmark’s Defence Intelligence Service (FE) collaborated with the US National Security Agency (NSA) to gather information from 2012 to 2014. Mrs Merkel is among those demanding answers. “This is not acceptable between allies, and even less between allies and European partners,” said French President Emmanuel Macron, after speaking with Mrs Merkel.

(WSJ) During a recent trip, Kamaluddin visited a barbershop to obtain the illicit pleasures of clean-shaven cheeks and a fashionable mustache. But the shopkeeper, 25 years old, planned to let it regrow before heading home, wary of incurring the Taliban’s wrath. His father and brother were caught last month using smartphones in their home district of Arghistan, an area effectively ruled by the movement. Indeed, some of their most-violent punishments, such as amputations for accused thieves, are used less frequently than in the 1990s as they seek to avoid alienating Afghans. Delhi Reopens a Crack (NYT) The Indian capital, which just weeks ago suffered the devastating force of the coronavirus, with tens of thousands of new infections daily and funeral pyres that burned day and night, is taking its first steps back toward normalcy. Officials on Monday reopened manufacturing and construction activity, allowing workers in those industries to return to their jobs after six weeks of staying at home to avoid infection. The move came after a sharp drop in new infections, at least by the official numbers, and as hospital wards emptied and the strain on medicine and supplies has eased. Life on the streets of Delhi is not expected to return to normal immediately. Schools and most businesses are still closed. The Delhi Metro system, which reopened after last year’s nationwide lockdown, has suspended service again. But the city government’s easing of restrictions will allow people to begin returning to work—and, more broadly, to start to repair India’s ailing, pandemic-struck economy.

Myanmar carries out air strikes after militia attacks (Reuters) Myanmar’s military used artillery and helicopters on Monday against anti-junta militias in the country’s east, witnesses and rebels said, forcing residents to flee and join thousands of others displaced by recent fighting in the region. Residents of Kayah state bordering Thailand said the military was firing artillery from positions inside the state capital Loikaw into Demoso, about 14.5 km (9 miles) away, where a People’s Defence Force said it had attacked troops and was coming under heavy fire. Myanmar’s military is fighting on multiple fronts and struggling to impose order since its Feb. 1 coup against Aung San Suu Kyi and her elected government, sparking nationwide protests and paralysing strikes. Decades-old conflicts between the military and ethnic minority armies have also reignited, while militias allied with a shadow government have stepped up attacks on the army, which has responded with heavy weapons and air strikes, forcing thousands to flee.

North Korea’s missile warning (Foreign Policy) North Korea warned the United States on Monday that relaxing South Korea’s missile limits could lead to an “acute and instable situation” in the region. “The termination step is a stark reminder of the U.S. hostile policy toward (North Korea) and its shameful double-dealing,” said Kim Myong Chol, an unofficial mouthpiece for Pyongyang, in a statement issued by North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency. The United States recently lifted a 500-mile range restriction on South Korea’s missile program, in place since 1979. South Korea’s industrial ability to ramp up new missile production “could lead to an arms race with devastating implications,” Donald Kirk wrote last week in Foreign Policy.

Australian court upholds ban on most international travel (AP) An Australian court on Tuesday rejected a challenge to the federal government’s draconian power to prevent most citizens from leaving the country so that they don’t bring COVID-19 home. Australia is alone among developed democracies in preventing its citizens and permanent residents from leaving the country except in “exceptional circumstances” where they can demonstrate a “compelling reason.” Most Australians have been stranded in their island nation since March 2020 under a government emergency order made under the powerful Biosecurity Act. Surveys suggest most Australians applaud their government’s drastic border controls. The Australian newspaper published a survey last month that found 73% of respondents said the international border should remain closed until at least the middle of next year.

Lebanon’s economic crisis (Foreign Policy) Lebanon’s economic collapse could rank within the top 3 “most severe crises episodes globally since the mid-nineteenth century,” according to a new report issued by the World Bank. The report cites the “brutal and rapid” contraction of Lebanon’s GDP, which dropped from $55 billion in 2018 to $33 billion in 2020. “The social impact of the crisis, which is already dire, could rapidly become catastrophic,” the report notes, as more than half of Lebanon’s population is already living below the poverty line.

Congo killings (Foreign Policy) At least 55 people were killed in overnight attacks near two villages in eastern Congo, close to the border with Uganda. Congolese officials blamed the attack on the Allied Democratic Forces, an Islamist insurgent group that in March was deemed a foreign terrorist organization by the United States. The group killed more than 850 people in 2020, according to the United Nations. At the beginning of May, President Félix Tshisekedi declared a state of siege across the affected regions, surging troops in a bid to quell violence.

Top Ten Shows with #s in the titles

Because there are many ways to divide dramas, and this is one. XD The K2 Oh, yes, let's start with the one that should have been so much cooler. What should have been the core of the story: is it possible for a good, if terribly broken (kudos to the show for portraying PTSD), man to save a bad, and equally broken, woman with the power of his friendship? Unfortunately, they thought a ridiculous lot of action, a few good actors, and the potential for awesome could save an 11th hour gutting of the best parts of the drama in favor of an absolutely idiotic (and entirely inappropriate) loveline with a actress who could not hold her own against the other leads. It did not work. I will say the action scenes are still fun and the OST is one I still enjoy, though. Right along with the glorious speculation on what could have been. XD 7th Grade Civil Servant ...'k, and this was a DNF. It was a stupid, slapstick spy comedy that even fans of such (of which I am not one) did not enjoy. I was hoping, because it had Joo Won in, but...no. I could barely make it through the beginning. Two Weeks Okay, I liked this one. It is a drama not really for children or the undiscerning...but a good story in multiple ways. It’s one of those incredible redemption stories that I adored but that which is slightly harder to recommend to everyone indiscriminately. Basically, the MC made a terrible choice in attempting to protect someone he loved, and his life was destroyed. When the story starts, he is in a very bad place, and the story doesn't shy away from the depths to which he has sunk. When his ex-girlfriend finds him and tells him that she actually had the baby he demanded she abort, and that baby is now a young girl dying of leukemia who needs him donate stem cells...his life takes a different turn. Watching him fight step by step to believe that he can change, that he can become the person those he loves need so desperately, and come to a full understanding of what exactly he has done in the past...it's incredible. {There is a scene where he ends up helping a stranger deliver her baby, and the moment it truly hits him what he almost forced his girlfriend to do and that he might never have met his daughter if his girlfriend had followed through...gah.} This ^ scene, sure, might lose a few points for why is a man on the run from the police and the bad guys helping a random lady deliver a baby of all things? and is this too on the nose in forcing him to make up for not supporting his own family when he should have done so? But it all depends on how you feel about symbolism. XD Also, I just discovered, doing my usual fruitless search for a good MV of Two Weeks, that Japan has also done a version, which stars Miura Haruma. Which A) brb, watching that now, and B) that leads directly into: 5 Minutes to Tomorrow A man enters the twisting reality of a highly concerning pair of twin sisters...which one died and which one came home as his wife?  This also counts as a DNF, I guess, because I have tried to watch this movie 2-3 times and fallen asleep promptly every time, which is not a great recommendation for any kind of murder mystery. To be fair, the Chinese or Japanese movies I have watched have been few and far between. All of the latter, however have been the fault of the following drama: Bloody Monday 1-2 This is totally cheating and I really don't care. There are rare Korean or Japanese shows with seasons, so I'm utilizing that unique aspect. XD Anyway, it's been a while since I watched it, but I highlight it for 2 reasons: Miura Haruma and Sato Takeru.   Okay, just kidding. But I keep checking out and then dropping Japanese films and shows in hopes of one or the other of these two will be in another show as brilliantly addicting as this one. So far, Sato Takeru is the only one who has managed it. What made Bloody Monday so good? Plotting, pacing, characters. It is a j-drama/dorama, so be warned that compared to the k-dramas I tend to watch it is a little more graphic in terms of language, death, clothing choices, subject matter...but if you're looking for a fight-the-terrorist-save-the-world story utilizing a genius hacker and his best friends and a brilliantly charismatic villain..this is it. The villain subconsciously inspired a decent amount of my Contract to Time Travel character Ja-Il - his intelligence, his charisma, his relationship with his siblings...but one of the main reasons I love it is that the MC is so resoundingly true. When it comes down to saving his country or betraying his principles, what choice will he make? Tactically he may be stupid, but he's still practically a child, and the strength of his convictions matters to me. Also, I loved that season 2 did not pick up with everyone the same. It showed how people were hurt, how people were changed, how people grew up, from season 1. It hurt, but it felt real. Queen for Seven Days Speaking of watching new dramas because of who is in them...Park Min Young SLAYS in every drama I've seen her in (including rom com, which I DO NOT EVEN WATCH but which I have watched for her and pretty much died laughing over)...and Yeon Woo Jin (who...now that I think about it...I have watched a rom-com with him in it too...yikes...this is not me...) Maybe I'm an idiot for wanting to ruin the two rom-coms I've enjoyed in my life by seeing two of their leads in a tragedy, but...I have heard nothing but high praise for every aspect of this drama except the trailers, and once I get past my current stack of tragic historical dramas, I'm definitely going to watch this one. Five Fingers This one is on hold...to be honest, I only ever wanted to watch it because of the opening sequence of piano music, which I watched. All I know is it's about pseudo-brothers and revenge and pianos? And there's a fire in there somewhere? Which sounds like a fun combination, but I'm not sure as a story that has enough weight to pull me completely in. I might do better with my time to just learn some piano music for myself.... 38 Task Force Okay, for something not a revenge tragedy...this weirdly named show is for fans of Leverage and Seo In Guk. The relationships weren't quite so well done as I'd hoped, and the cons (which then became the point of it all) were minimally memorable. I remember one of them involved the main conman giving a speech at a fancy place...and another involved him coming up with a car out of thin air...and another had something to do with antiques and throwing money everywhere. So. I remember enjoying it enough to watch it...but not much else. Rating: Eh. School 2013 Aw...one more drama that is neither tragedy nor romance. It's a school drama about guilt, honesty, dreams, the impact of adult role models on troubled children, and a David-Jonathan friendship that went horribly wrong. As such it is a lot less weighty than most of the others on this list...yet while you're watching it you forget that the only thing at stake is the friendship of some high school boys and possibly their futures. Which I think is something Korean dramas sometimes excel at - is the tragic destruction of a friendship going to destroy the world? But just the first few episodes plunged me into the founding of a nation and the creation of a man - I love how Korean dramas are not afraid to spend the time setting up the world and showing you exactly what choices were made to make someone the person they became. And maybe it’s a bloody mess of history but it’s tragic and fascinating and even if largely fictionalized there is so much to learn from history, let alone about story-telling. rune was born into a very poor family  ;  an alcoholic single mom  ,  a little sister who she had to take care of considering their mom was only interested in them when it came to snatching some money from their absent dad  (  which  ,  surprise  ,  she spent on alcohol  ) so  ...  yeah, your classic tragic backstory  ,  haha  ... ha  ...

anyways it’d be cool if it all ended there but APPARENTLY i won’t rest until i make my characters suffer more  ??  oh well  .  

rune would often escape from home in order to work at several places and bring food to her little sister  .  one time  ,  a person she met during one of her escapades came to her with an offer  .  you see  ,  this person was like an older brother figure for rune and he was looking for a way to get her out of that house  -  he offered to teach her how to hack  ,  which’d take time  ,  but if she learned well he could get her a position in the agency he works for  .  rune spent years reading books about computers  ,  programming and such  ,  having lessons from that guy  ,  while also working her jobs but eventually she got much better at hacking than the guy predicted  . 

though she had to cut ties with her sister while working for the agency  ,  so she had to leave her alone for a year while she tried to get enough money to find her a house where she could handle all the legal requirements and keep an eye on her while also  ,,, staying away from her  .  rune still blames herself for leaving her alone with their mom for a year but eventually she got to make her plan happen  ,  although it came with the cost of having her sister (  rightfully  ,  if you asked rune  ) resent her  .

she spent years working in the agency under an anonymous nickname while trying to keep the persona of ‘rune’ in real life  ,  although she never dared to get too close to anyone  , scared of putting them in danger somehow  . 

however  ,  being a good hacker came with the perks of being able to erase any and all suspicious traces of her online  ,  so rune was able to start her youtube channel where she could make money  ,  talk to people  ,  and all without the risks of getting close to them  .

eventually  ,  with the help of the older brother figure i mentioned earlier  ,  she was able to quit the agency  .  she still does jobs that specifically require her skillset from time to time  (  because lbh  ,  it wouldn’t be that easy to get rid of them  )  but since her online personality got more and more famous in years  ,  everyone is aware of the risks of what’d happen if people found out  ,  so she very rarely gets jobs at this point  .

there’s two versions of rune  ;  the jokester who’s energetic and almost overly enthusiastic  .  she displays a happy-go-lucky, outgoing, and very bizarre personality in front of other people and especially in front of the camera  .  she also likes playing pranks on her friends and making fun of them  -  all in good fun  ,  of course  .  and  ,  yeah  ,  sarcasm is her BIGGEST defense mechanism  .

however  ,  the other version  ,  the version rune believes to be the ‘real’ her  (  and hates herself for it  )  is the exact opposite  .  behind the humorous front she puts up  ,  rune is actually quite depressed and serious  ,  and she refuses to believe that anything good can happen to her due to everything she has done in the past  .  due to all the trauma she went through and having constant fear most of her life  (  until the recent few years  )  rune believes that not letting people get close is the safest way for everyone  ,  maybe there’s no longer a danger worth mentioning  ,  but she still gets these warning sirens in her head whenever she lets someone see too much of her  ,  or when she gets just a bit too close to people  .  she has friends  ,  she even has friends who she’d consider ‘close’  ,  but they’re close to the wall she puts around herself  -  not to the person behind the wall  .

NCT OT21 profiles and background

It's a bit of a mess because it's mainly my notes and such, but I hope y'all enjoy and look forward to the story!

SM: one of the four main leading districts of mafias. They're made up of buisness men and political leaders who take money from mafias within their control and keeps quiet. Because they "bought" certain mafia groups after an incident in the early 2000s, they have final say in where and how the groups function. NCT and SM have a rocky relationship though. NCT doesn't believe important figures in Korea should be supporting mafias and everything they do, so they often lie and go on fake missions to appease them. In reality NCT as a whole is like the Robin hood of the mafias. Intercepting missions from other groups that affect civilians and innocents. They try to take down companies and people who use and mistreat people and society. So Taeyong's father's company, oil companies, other major cooperations, politicians, other mafia groups, and SM themselves.

WAYV:

A new specialized unit for Chinese affairs

NCT127: Based primarily in Seoul as an easy way to stay in the center of society and to keep an eye on other mafias. This unit handles most of the English Business with the US and Canada. Currently trying to make progress within European countries

NCT U:

Interchangeable mission specialized unit. Usually handles smaller missions in South korea, only occasionally leaves the country.

NCT DREAM: group of runaways who became mafia trainees. Mark got involved with the mafia first and then Haechan found out and tagged along. In this story they are already in training, however in the prequel it will start them off as runaways.

Description: trained under Taeyong for a while until SM created the WAYV unit. Became leader of WAYV. Is very collected and in control, much stricter than Taeyong but not mean. Very good in close and midrange combat, and oversees all deals and connections in Chinese affairs.

Win-win~

Rank and skills: Combat, second hand to WAYV boss, training.

Description: Win-win excels in all forms of combat. Long distance, mid range, and close hand to hand. He trained and worked the longest out of all WAYV members as he was apart of NCT 127 before SM placed him in WAYV. Trains new and pre existing members daily in combat and shooting ranges. Helps oversee combat tests and check ins with Johnny when he is staying in the base complex in South Korea. He may seem sweet, reserved and quiet, but is one of the most dangerous members when on their bad side. Can take down people twice his size in a matter of seconds. Is in a relationship with Yuta.

Ten:

Rank and skills: intelligence, smart with computers.

Description: Always stayed at home base as the eyes, ears and brains of the operations. Never left the bunker on a mission so he isn't a known member of the mafia. Has been a part of the mafia for quite some time and treats it like a day job. Is quite casual about it and seems to the naked eye to take his job lightly, but you'd be a fool to actually believe that. He is one of the best hackers in South Korea and can find any information he needs to find within the hour. With ways in and out of large corporations such as taeyong's father's security company and Doyoung's company he has unlimited access to anything he pleases. When not on missions he and other computer intelligence members just keep their eyes on their territories, making sure no one is causing trouble.

Xiojun~

Rank and skills: not an actual member but low-key is

Description: Goes to school with Hendery and helps on missions sometimes by covering for them and assisting them when they need somewhere to crash or hide after a mission. He knows about the mafia but chose himself not to be a part of it because he "doesn't want that life"......but he's always looking forward to the next time he can help and accepts almost too eagerly.

Hendery~

Rank and skills: New trainee, combat, communications intelligence- helps keep the groups communication with each other fluid and constant during missons.

Description: A new member to the mafia who got involved when he was doing I science project at a university involving radio waves, and was so good he accidentally intercepted transmission between two members on a long distance nearby drug deal. Newer to field work but trained well and has a solid base, and is a fast learner and quick on his feet. Works with Ten a lot since they're both newer to field work.

Yang Yang~

Rank and skills: undecided trainee

Description: Yang yang shows promise in many areas of the mafia. He is fluent in many languages so international affairs may be where he goes off to, but he is also good with computers and intelligence, and catches on to physical training quickly. A well rounded member that has yet to decide his place.

Lucas~

Rank and skills: COMBAT, security, spy.

Description: Lucas is young but loves what he does, even if he is a bit new to the job. He's quite hard to read and sporadic. He is very well trained in hand to hand combat and comes second to WinWin in it. He is another member that may take his work a little too lightly sometimes but when it comes down to it he is devoted and skilled. One of the few spys of NCT. Is an impeccable spy, Because he is so sporadic and versatile he can easily adapt to changes in surroundings and has naturally great social skills. Is one of the spies who can be places in both long and short term spy missions and keep up with all of his many aliases on a whim. One second he's _____, a online student studying sports, another he's a barista at a local starbucks as a boy with big dreams making his way up. Has a HUge crush on Jungwoo.

Description: is a great strong leader but not a dictator. Chooses others to make up a council when making decisions. Trusts others opinions. Quite a caring and loyal member, and Because of that he isn't afraid to kill if he must. Went into the buisness to spite his father's government security firm, with whom he works a day job at. This helps to ease suspicion from the government on some members, and gives insight to how close they are to catching mafia members. Is a very well rounded member and trained hard to be so.

Johnny:

Rank and skills: intelligence- sub unit weapons and supplies. Field work- background work to stay unnoticed, international affairs.

Description: creates, designs, and tests all their weapons and gear. Always styles field workers outfits and designs their new tools. Day job as an at home mechanic, dog walker, and pizza delivery boy. Currently taking courses in mechanics and clothing design. Mentors Mark and Jaemin on a regular basis.

Doyoung~

Rank and skills: domestic and international relations

Description: higher up in South Korean trading company, finds gateways and transmission routes for weapons, traded goods and drugs. Mainly at home work but if he goes out in the field he uses long distance preplaced weapons (explosives), can use a sniper but isn't the absolute best.

Yuta~

Rank and skills: intelligence: sub division- training and dectective work, sniper.

Description: works days job as police officer.

Often taken to border meetings, negotiations and other such jobs but as a "body guard" who is disguised. Sadly, she nce he works in the police department he can't be seen by rivals or else his cover is blown. Does negotiations and torture at the base house. It's notoriously known that those who see NCT's second hand interrogator don't live to tell the tale. Is the best with a sniper, is equal to WinWin. Teases him about it and often and asks him out on cheesy sniper practicing dates. He thinks it's cute and smooth but Lord help him, WinWin just goes with it because he loves him.

Jungwoo~

Rank and skills: Torture, communications and average combat.

Description: good with words, but low-key sadistic. Uses his bright charming atmosphere to decieve people and lure them into a false sense of security. Knows exactly how to manipulate a conversation to get the outcome he likes with internal and external factors depending on the human. Relys on Yuta, Taeil's observation skills to get the nitty gritty details about his targets.

Taeil~

Rank and skills: combat, observation, domestic relations

Description: as the oldest member he is well rounded in all subjects and knows his way around. He may seem a rather laissez-faire individual to those who don't know any better, but don't underestimate him. He's strong and good at what he does. He's good in hand to hand combat as well as close range weapons. Since he's been in this business for a while he knows his way around and has fine tuned his observe skills so that by the end of a single meeting he can learn a person's habits, body language, skills, and weaknesses just from watching them and putting them through little unnoticeable tests with factors he can control. I.e, how they react to slow internet, (tests their patience) do they play with their pen or are fidgety? (Usually means hand to hand combat or sniper, they either can't sit still and need to move and they fight the best like that, or being so in control in the moment a sniper is in their hands that its the only thing that grounds them) and so on so forth. Speaks for Doyoung or Yuta when they can't be seen during certain meetings.

Jaehyun~

Rank and skills: intelligence, spy.

Description: jaehyun is another well rounded member. However like Lucas, he works extremely well with people and has charms for days. He got involved with mafia way back when NCT first started when he was starting a new job at the city hall and overheard a conversation he shouldn't have. He is used as a chess piece in NCTs main goal. Jaehyun is slowly climbing the latter up the political system and is currently running to become a mayor/governor (idk what they have in SK but they got these now in this book lmao) and will eventually run for a higher position in the government.

Mark~

Rank and skills: new member, trains under Johnny, Taeyong, and Doyoung.

Description: Is newer to the mafia but almost has a designated rank as Johnny's right hand man, who works with international affairs and buisness. Goes on all sorts of missons to get accustomed to different situations and jobs, as Johnny and Taeyong hope to make all young new members well rounded, protected, strong and quick on their feet. Puts hard work I every job he's given even if it sometimes feels like it's too much.

Haechan~

Rank and skills: new member, trains under jungwoo, Taeil, Jaehyun, and Yuta.

Description: is a sly young member who shows great promise in communications. Works with older members to build a base in combat and to learn the ways of the best interrogators and communication ranks in the group. Is attached to Mark and other younger members as they are a close knit group.

Description: already has a natural talent in communications, but shines brightest when he's in the world of tech. Once his training is complete he will become a full time computer intelligence operative with Ten Johnny and Yuta.

He is the artistic director and founder of Toronto Poetry Slam, and was the director of two Canadian Festivals of Spoken Word in Toronto. He edited the Canadian spoken word anthology Mic Check (Quattro Books) and has performed his spoken word poetry across the world, including Vancouver, Montreal, London (UK) and Paris. His first solo theatre show Jewnique debuted in May 2018. Omg your ocs sound awesome and amazing!!!! What were some of the inspirations you used in their creation?

Oof, okay. So, that’s a loaded question, Anon.

Bibi is based on me--like Dream me (as in the version of me in my dreams, who is a straight badass).  Like, you know how someone will say shit to you and a voice inside your head will be like, “I know you’re better than this, but knock his ass flat?”  Bibi is that voice inside my head.   She is *not* afraid to say the shit I want to say to people, and she has the stones to back that shit up.    At the same time, Bibi has the empathy of a crocodile.  Her lack of fucks to give usually lands her in situations where most people would be like, “oh, shit, I gotta get out of here!” While she’s like, “let’s get shit done.”

Demitri actually comes from this old fanfic I wrote in college that was like 700 pages long and never got to see the light of day.   In the midst of writing it, I was like, “oh shit, this is pretty dope.  I’mma turn this into a real story with OCs and shit, and we’ll make this into a legit book.”   Demitri ended up being one of those OCs, and I loved his character so much in that fanfic that I kept him.  Mind you, Demitri in that fanfic was fucking sassy as hell--and he still kinda is--but he’s definitely grown into a more 3D character than he was.

Zhong comes from this really, really, really old AU of mine from way back when in like...high school, maybe.   It took place in a car garage with a strong female lead--cuz I am all about strong female representation--and he was just this dude who worked on cars.   What I remember about him was that the AU was all about this Yakuza war between gangs, and all the characters were named after Japanese Car companies (like Honda and Toyota and Mitsubishi), but there were also some Korean companies, like Samsung, that I planned to use the names of--I thought it was clever, Anon, don’t judge me--but he was some no name fucker with curly hair, who was Chinese and very tall.  Since then, he got a name (hurray), and became Half-Black (because I always described him with mocha skin and I was like,”fuck it, you’re already Black, we’re just gonna make that shit official).  Also, he became an assassin, so....yeah

Vera is the easiest one on this list.  THe looks and personality are loosely based on my niece.   Apparently Red hair and blue eyes are the most recessive combo of hair/eyes in the human specifies??? And my niece  has that combo, and her favorite word is currently no.  I like to think she takes after me because she has legit tackled her cousins and brother despite being the youngest and gives 0 fucks 90% of the time.   I wanted a younger character in the cast to present a teenage view of the world, so I was like, “cool.”  But it gets confusing sometimes, because my niece is named Vera pronounced “Vee-ra.”  My Vera is pronounced “Veh-rah” so I have to be very particular, or else my sister is like, “My daughter did WHAT?!”

Haneul is loosely based on my best friend.  She had aspirations some time ago to become a computer programmer, but went into Linguistics instead, and I decided--fuck it, I’ll make your dreams come true on paper.  Also, Bibi and Haneul have been through so much shit in other stories we’ve written that I had to keep them together.  Plus, I got to make Haneul a fucking badass smarty-pants, and that makes me happy.  I always wanted to write a female hacker.

Biography:

Some would say that Bae was the perfect boy next door: His background seemed clean for the most part as most people in the neighborhood knew he came from a loving family, had himself a few girlfriends here and there even when he has such a private life and does even like the casual night out with friends when convinced properly on a Saturday night, but when at home is where all the magic happens – Sometimes even quite literally. It all started with a few gigs. He had one time an part-time by his yearly teenage years where he worked on a computer store, so he got to learn a few good things with his more experienced work-mates and also because of all the tech talk, he made sure to do research for more information on coding and other hardware and software in general so he could better help any clients and that only supported his interest and made it flourish. Later on, he worked by a telemarketing company on a similar business realm, where the pressure to attend and service made him be a little more secluded, thus the need to find his escape on his cats and avoidance of other people as the usual nagging and screams for having him bother with the calls that put food on his table on the end of the day, were too much for him.

Then, somehow, along that job path, he met the wrong kind of people that had him evolved with the Anonymous hackers, which is a story he usually keeps secret and as that provided him with a financial escape while also getting him in trouble -- Explaining why he already was in prison once, he managed to get out of telemarketing, that was evidently driving him crazy, to work as a barista on a local coffee shop, that was to most a surprising change, but when seeing how he was prohibit to work on the field from there on, coffee making was his choice as he could just relax and serve wonderfully made drinks.

Personality:

Bae is the type of guy with the looks that no one would want to mess up with. Strong, mostly serious and quiet, just because he prefers for the most part to avoid confrontation, yet behind that tough front, the male is quite amiable, a shy and easy going friend, very loyal, protective of those whom he loves and he likes to help when people are in need.
