Another Polyphemus update, mutuals~

He’s officially been moved into his permanent tank and is doing well!

The tank is 3 gallons and at one point I did consider putting him in a 5 gallon as that’s usually my personal minimum tank size for bettas, but then I worried about him getting stressed with so much open space and not being able to like… see where he was going lol.

So I opted for a 3 gallon instead and I think it’s just the right amount of space for him :).

He has some pretty serious fin rot/melt happening, but he’s honestly vibing and happy surprisingly enough. I think he’s one of the most personable bettas I’ve had tbh lol.

I remember putting him in our quarantine room when he had just a small piece of his fins gone, and then it just kept getting worse and worse and I finally caved and asked to take him home.

He’s currently in the same 2.5 hospital tank Polyphemus was in (with clean water ofc) and he’s been in it for about a week now just so I can monitor him. I named him Nemo because I noticed today that one of his fins looks smaller than the other (but doesn’t seem to effect his swimming at all) and I thought the name was fitting.

Look I like Roger enough, I understand what he represents and I generally don’t think he was a bad dude. I do however think he was shit at interpersonal relationships because, what the fuck. Whitebeards crew is infinitely more well adjusted and I’d say he arguably had the more traumatic death.

My opinion on Rogue Trader companions so far (I just finished act 1)

Idira - deserved better both in story and in gameplay. Seriously, why do enemies target her so much, what did she do?? Also, her insights are very useful, wish I could consult the voices in my head the way she can. And I know for a fact Idira and Vigdis explored each other's bodies, tho I can also see some toxic yuri potential between her and Argenta.

Pasqal - surprisingly chill for a magos! Also, he definitely wants to be called a good boy, but, like, not in a kinky, but platonic way. You know, the same way your dog wants to be called a good boy/good girl. Even though I already play a respectful and chill Rogue Trader, I still try to be a bro to Pasqal (yes, I'm a girl who roleplays as an old dude, what about it?) I do hope that he actually starts seeing you as a close friend/companion later down the story line, because I genuinely love him. Also, Pasqal's melee attacks >>>>>> Pasqal's range attacks.

Argenta - I'm pretty sure at some point in her life, the Emperor sent her back into our time and made her shoot Tr*mp. She missed, as we all know. LIKE. GIRL. PLEASE HIT THE TARGET, I'M BEGGING YOU. Every time it's her turn, I legit start praying to Big E. Story wise... Not gonna lie, out of all the dogmatic leaning characters, I prefer her the most. I especially prefer her over Heinrix. Not that I hate him, and I'm not a big fan of SoB, but... there's something about Argenta that just makes me like her. Though, she is sus. Like really sus. I expect her to do something insane later down the line.

Abelard - MY MAN. Like, yes, I did the quest with the Lower Decks and I know that Abelard is not sunshine and rainbows, in fact, he is quite a classist ass, but! I like that about him! And his dedication and loyalty to both us and Theodora (well, the entire house of Von Valancius) is admirable. I like him a lot :) BUT! I LOVE HIM IN COMBAT. DUDE IS HIM. Every time it's his turn, I know for a fact someone is going to fucking die. AND he is a healer! Dude's theme song is Holding Out For A Hero and I accept no arguments. Might just be my favorite. I hope we get to meet his family, because one of his comments mentioning his youngest great-granddaughter being a working adult made me intrigued. I know that people can extend their life span + he constantly has to travel through the Warp with the Rogue Trader, so I'm curious if they're going to elaborate on that.

Heinrix - I heard a lot about him. I can see why many people thirst over him and ship him with their fem!Rogue Traders and! Good for you! I support yume/self-shipping as well as oc x canon with all my heart! However, he didn't impress me much. Maybe it's because my Rogue Trader is an old man and there were no spicy/romantic dialogue options for him. He is cool, and I did help him complete his mission. Though, I wish he stayed after act 1, because I want to learn more about him... And also I really like him in combat. He's like if Abelard was a psyker, and you already know how much I love Abelard in combat. I wish we get to meet him again.

Cassia - Okay, first things first: I LOVE HER. I love her design and I'm glad we got an abhuman companion, because I want more abhumans in w40k. Love how she is sweet with us and seems, ya know, very demure very mindful, but I do also love she is not like this with everyone, judging by her combat voice lines and how she needs human blood for her paintings. However, that time you are summoned by her after you recruit her to be the ship's Navigator... Hoo boy did I momentarily regret picking a male!Rogue Trader, because *some* of the dialogue options were so cringy and creepy. If you played as a male Rogue Trader, you know what I'm talking about. THANK GOD the game wouldn't reward you for being too fast and too lustful with her from the get-go. Not that I picked those options, but I did read up about Cassia's romance after that event. It does make sense for a sheltered girl like her to be into courtly, romance book type love! Also, she once one-shotted like... 8 enemies with her attack... Really made it easier to focus on Aurora. Blood for Navigator Cassia, skulls for Navigator's Throne!

Jae, Yrliet, Marazhai, Ulfar and Kibellah - I know they exist! REALLY eyeing Marazhai because he is the only possible mlm option in this game. I'm a toxic yaoi whore, I'm sorry. We'll see, because I'm not a fan of Drukhari, but MAYBE Marazhai will make me change my mind.

random nellis headcanons pt 1

- ellis talks in his sleep and snores rlly bad, whereas nick is what i call a vampire sleeper (stays on his back all night and barely moves, is a light sleeper/struggles to even fall asleep, etc) which means most of the time they can’t actually sleep together. more so nick can’t fall asleep with ellis lmfao but they’ll cuddle until ellis knocks out then nick sneaks away, tho thankfully it’s not a problem cuz ellis sleeps hard throughout the entire night so he doesn’t even notice (if he did he’d be sad :c)

- ellis definitely has more stamina than nick. even though nick may act like ellis’ youthful demeanor is annoying, he eventually starts to feel it rubbing off on him. sometimes being with him makes him feel younger. being in his mid thirties doesn’t make him old at all, however with his previous and current lifestyle he definitely feels older than he is. spending time with ellis makes him feel like hes in his twenties again (in every context c;)

Charlie: has a huge family one of those rich white ones, SOO many cousins but is the oldest out of most of them, talks shit with that one aunt, if he had older cousins he would be the one to sneak them alcohol he’s chill like that, lives and breathes for presents, they always suck tho cause his parents don’t pay him much mind, is usually buzzed by the end of the night, gets into an argument with a male family member cause he’s not “masculine enough”, further solidifying the Charlie dalton gender fluid head canon in my brain, also BIIG gag gifter he will put your present in a box and then wrap it a trillion times just for that 5 second serotonin he’s an ass but I adore him.

If she's free, I'm pretty sure it's Vertin who organizes everything and prepares the wilderness. If not, they'll have to go through the pain of another form that has to be submitted to Vertin's upper up that allows them to use the Wilderness for these purposes.

What shenanigans ensue? My Lord...

First of all, you have characters like Jessica, Jiu and Darley Clatter with an insane advantage, and if Getian even wants to participate, then him too! Assuming Jiu can just turn into a Lushu anytime.

Darley Clatter is a dude of sports, he's also a wooden horse with wheels. He's sporty, he's a horse that I assume doesn't get tired easily, and he has wheels.

Next is the half-animal arcanists (Pickles wouldn't want to participate anyway), Getian and Jessica.

—If Getian participates (unlikely), he can fly all the way to the end with no problem, therefore making anyone running stay behind in seconds, having only the ones mentioned before following (Oh, and Lilya too but I don't think they'd allow her lovely girl with her, the broom).

—Then you have Jessica, a half deer that can shape shift anytime. If she wants to, she can be the fastest animal on earth or she can just run in her base form. She's still tied to her own stamina, not 100% sure if her speed as Anne has to do with pretending, the human form she's not used to, or if that's her actual speed and she gets tired easily. It'll depend, but shape shifting is still a big deal.

Special mention to Jiu because if she can turn into a Lushu, this is a horse race now.

To make things fair, they should definitely separate the non-humans from your usual arcanists, as this could be (and is) an unfair advantage. Thus, you have whoever wants to participate in the race and the non-humans and awakened running separately.

It'll be funny to see Madam Lucy run tho. She either speeds up so fast due to having a robotic body that can do whatever, or running at a normal speed then stopping mid-race because her battery got to 50%

I think the race might be also unfair for some. Bkornblume, Lilya, Pavia, Spathodea and those trained under SPDM are running with people like Eternity, Oliver Fog, Ezra and so many others who are not into fitness.

Mkay so it took me way too long but I have finally created new art :3 (I finished these a while ago and forgot to post them but SHHHHH)

Anyways, these characters are from my absolute favourite and most well developed story in the roster; Stones of Gold. The love I have for thus story and its characters cannot be put into words. They are my everything

Anyways, here they are :3

Characters featured (left-right): Zepsun and Casaraua

Cas is the main POV character of SoG and I love him to death, he’s one of my favourite characters in all of my stories😭 He was raised on a farm by his mom after his dad left her (he left because Cas is what is known as a Rune Shifter which I’ll explain later). He’s not the best with social interaction due to never having interacted much. He’s very shy and afraid of everything, even though he literally had super strength. He becomes the newest member of the main group behind the next guy

Zep, fun fact, is actually a minor antagonist in the beginning👀 He joins the main group last because of issues. Anyways, he was taken under some emperor’s wing after the guy saves him from slavery as a child which totally fucked with his psyche (as it should). Zep’s pretty closed off and tends to get defensive. He fears anyone who can beat him in a fight. He is also a rune shifter

They become very gay later on

Characters featured (left-right): Chryo and Cyruss

I fucking love Chryo to death, she’s just so fun. She is a TANK of a woman (and a Rune Shifter as well). I’d say she’s pretty motherly and sweet when interacting with people she likes but, when you threaten someone she loves, she’ll become your worst nightmare. She’s determined as fuck and very snarky, especially to her boyfriend. She was the first to join the group (AKA she created it LMAO)

Cyruss canonically has gigantism, making him very tall👀 He’s Chryo’s girlfriend and is definitely the more mellow of the two. He’s a musician (haven’t named or drawn the instrument yet but it’s kinda like a guitar/banjo hybrid Ig???) and enjoys his more gothic music n stuff like that (I imagine his music to sound like The Awakening or Miracle of Sound, or both) He’s a bit scary to many due to his quieter nature and darker colours, but he’s a very nice and chill guy with a lot of good advice to share. Like his girlfriend, he definitely knows how to fight :3 He joined the group second, though the last two basically joined with him so (The group as in the friend/rogue group, btw). Heis not a shifter

Characters featured (left-right): Drélan and Mitzen

Drélan is an ex knight who left due to disagreeing with his king. He had since become close friends with a viking, a gothic musician and an assassin (as well as a traumatised gay man and a farmer boy later on, obviously). He’s a very kind and selfless person who takes no bullshit from anyone every. This dude will literally stand between you and god. He sorta becomes a father figure to Cas in the story and they do strong man stuff together (like fix carts and talk about animals, obviously)

Mitzen is an ex assassin, leaving her guild for similar reasons to Drélan. They were once on opposing sides but became good and loyal friends once they both left their groups. She’s a ‘tough love’ kinda gal, shoving her friends into situations whether they like it or not. Like Zep, she’s pretty closed off but she’s definitely calmer and more composed than he is (due to being older and more mature)

They are the only characters in the group that aren’t in a romantic relationship with each other🤣 You can still ship them, tho :3

ANYWAYS, the ✨lore✨

Y’all are probably wondering what a Rune Shifter is, right? Yeah, I thought so👀 I’ll do my best to explain!

A Rune Shifter is a magical being with gem/rock/whatever material casings covering certain parts of their bodies (for reference, Zep, Cas and Chryo are Shifters). One-Runed Shifters are the most common, Two-Runed Shifters are rare, Three-Runes Shifters are VERY rare (90% of critters never see a single one in their lives) and Four-Runed Shifters are saved for myths n shit (no one knows if they’re even real) (Examples; Zep is a double shifter - meaning he had two magic types at once, making him a Two-Runed Shifter - Cas is a Three-Runed Shifter and Chryo is a One-Runed Shifter)

Shifters’ powers are element based (for example; Zep in an ice/water Shifter, Cas is a Sun Shifter and Chryo is a Moon Shifter (or Moon Rune and Cy likes to call her). There are quite a few of them and I haven’t written them all down yet, so🤣 Anyways, they all have different abilities (having more runes= more powers). More examples!! Ice Shifters can control ice, Water Shifters can control water, Sun Shifters are typically protective forces (with force field n super strength and all that), Moon Shifters can multiply and become invisible, etc. (It’s all still a wip so💀)

An ability all Shifters have is the ability to shift (duh) into Rune Beast forms. Rune Beast forms are like monster forms, they can take on any appearance but mostly take the appearance of different already existing animals (also a WIP). Many believe that the form you discover always means something

Now, for the ✨worldbuilding✨

Basically; Rune Shifters are powerful and scary so non-Rune Shifters hate them. Shifters are discriminated against and feared. Any mother to have a Shifter child and keep is also despised (basically Cas’ and his mother’s backstory lmao)
