Duty Over Heart drabble based off of a thunderstorm that happened like last week lol

A great clap of thunder woke you up from your sleep and your heart raced against your chest. Rain pattered against the bedroom window and you listened to it while you stared into the darkness.

You didn’t remember the weather channel say that there was going to be a thunderstorm and judging from the way the thunder kept rolling it would be a while before it stopped.

You attempted to cuddle back into Price but you were only met with an empty bed. A frown stretched across your face and you sat up. When your heart went back to normal, you slipped out of bed and made your way through the apartment.

A light chill went through you as you walked into the living room and saw Price by the window.

His hair was messy and his back was tense. You could see him clenching his jaw as he watched the rain pour outside with a hard look in his eyes. You could only imagine what he was thinking about, the thoughts that raced through him, but you knew he needed to be brought back from them.

You didn’t turn on the light as you made your way over to him, making enough noise so he knew you were there, before you placed a gentle hand on his back.

Price tensed underneath your touch for just a moment before he wrapped an arm around your waist. He pulled you closer to him and before long you were tucked into his side.

“Needed a moment.” He mumbled, his voice rough from sleep.

“Want be alone?” You wondered but he shook his head.

The two of stayed silent while you watched and listened to the rain. It didn’t let up as you pulled him to the couch where you wrapped a blanket around you both and tucked yourself back into his side.

He held onto you firmly as if you’d disappear from his side at any moment but his face was stoic as ever.

You knew better but didn’t say a word as you pressed your ear to his chest and listened to his heartbeat slow into a steady rhythm.

“Don’t know what I’d do without you.” Price whispered in the dark and you knew that it was more than just you comforting him.

You knew that in his mind he was thinking the worst, unable to push away thoughts brought by the rain.

“I’m not going anywhere.” You assured him softly and he let out a deep breath. “You’re stuck with me until the end of time.”

He scoffed, a smile pulling at his lips.

“Even in death?” He wondered and you smiled.

“Obviously.”

Price threaded his fingers with yours and gave your hand a firm squeeze. He pressed a kiss to the top of your head and hummed when you leaned more of your weight into him.

You pressed a kiss to his chest and shut your eyes. There was a roll of thunder in the distance and the rain began to lighten up just before the both of you fell asleep.
