mha boys + their fav thing to do with you (or for you) during the holiday season
a/n: it's my favorite time of the year <3 merry christmas to those who celebrate!! posting this on christmas eve, i hope everyone has the best day <3 ily!
izuku: baking christmas cookies
izuku makes the BEST deserts. his mother taught him when he was young and although he was reluctant to learn at first ("mom, i’m sorry but learning how to make the perfect pie is not my biggest concern right now..."), it's now a skill he's come to appreciate—especially when you're involved. one of his favorite things to do with you, at any point in the year but especially during christmas, is baking cookies—or rather, he's do most of the baking while you're sitting on the countertop watching him do so. there's christmas jazz playing through the space as you both talk about your days, laughing and making a mess that neither of you are too worried about cleaning in the moment. he gives you the spoons to lick when he's finished with them, smiling when you nod your approval of the taste. while they're in the oven, you two dance in the low kitchen light; it's not graceful, by any means, but it's silly and stupid and makes you both feel as though you're the only ones in the world. this warm, love filled kitchen on a cold winter's night, just for the two of you.
katsuki: decorating with you
katsuki would never admit it, but he takes his christmas decorating very seriously. he insists that if you're going to decorate for the holidays, you might as well make it look nice. you ask him to take down the christmas decorations from storage and while he pretends to find the task annoying, he actually is looking forward to doing this with you. he loves seeing how excited you get when he plugs in the lights on the tree and watch as they light up the dark living room, or how much you love the small task of switching out the normal pillows on the couch for the winter themed ones. his favorite part about it all, however, is putting up the ornaments; together you've collected a few over the years, some more heartfelt while others are silly inside jokes between the two of you. he teases you when you put one in a spot he doesn't agree with ("why the fuck did you put it there, that's ugly." "katsuki, no it's not!" "yes the hell it is, move it over here.") and you know it's all lighthearted as you laugh at the faces he makes about your "questionable" placements. this is all such a temporary thing, he knows—the decorations will only be up for about a month and a half, if that. but it's special for him. a time where he can forget about the rest of the world; where he only has to focus on you and your terrible (but endearing) tree decorating skills.
shoto: christmas shopping
when you two go out shopping together, he takes note of anything that you point out and like. later, he comes back after a patrol shift; he tells you he's picking up dinner, and while that's not a total lie and he is going to bring home something, he also needed to make time to pick up your gifts. he has never felt as though he's very good with words, but gifts he can do. and he never stops at one, of course—he makes sure you have a lot. he fills the space under the tree with them, all addressed to you; just when you think there couldn't be any more, you come home to find another two of three presents has been added. he starts his gift shopping earlier in the year, getting things here and there when he can. by december 1st, he's gotten pretty much everything he's been looking for, and he asks fuyumi and his mom to help him wrap them nicely for you (wrapping gifts is unfortunately NOT his strong suit). he's even particular about the wrapping paper he uses, not caring that it's more expensive than others on the market or that it's going to be ripped; these are gifts for you, for christ's sake. he's going to make sure that everything is perfect—that you have the best christmas, every christmas.
eijiro: walking out in the snow
eijiro loves the snow, and he loves the holiday season even more. he loves how magical everything is this time of year, how carefree life feels. when the first snowfall comes one evening, he's making sure both your puffer jacket and his is zipped up all the way and that you're nice and toasty, before practically running outside. you two go for a walk through the city, admiring the way the snow blankets everything around you and makes the world seem softer, lighter. when a breeze comes by, he huddles impossibly closer to you, grabbing your hands and holding them in his coat pocket to warm you up. you two stop at the windows of decorated shops, watching the little toy trains and miniature christmas towns on display in the stores. he looks at your reflection in the window and grins, happy and content, even as the frigid air makes him feel as though he wants to sit in a furnace. he loves moments like these. it's a simple and mundane thing, taking a walk, but something about doing it with you, in an atmosphere that looks as though you've both stepped right into a christmas town in a fairytale, makes him wish for a white christmas every year.
hanta: watching christmas movies
before he met you, hanta had never made it a point to watch christmas movies, really. now, however, it's his favorite tradition. he looks forward to the evenings when the two of you change into your matching christmas-themed pajama pants, having bought them just for the occasion. you go into the kitchen to make hot chocolate while he scrolls through the movie selection, attempting to put on the corniest, dumbest, most cliche hallmark holiday movie he can find. the whole time you both are cuddled on the couch, leaning against each other as you watch the movie together, making fun of the bad acting, the overdone movie tropes, and every other menial detail. you laugh at all the jokes he makes, all the small things he notices and points out to you. the first movie ends, and before either of you can stop yourselves, you've both fallen asleep together on the couch halfway through the third. it's a quiet night, the only sounds being the quiet noise of the still-playing movie and the soft snores of the two of you. when he wakes up first, he doesn't make any effort to wake you immediately, instead opting to watch you sleep peacefully against him. "this is what the holidays are about" he thought, as cheesy as it sounds. he didn't need anything more; he wasn't sure it could be any better than this.

❝𝙏𝙃𝙍𝙀𝙀 𝙒𝙊𝙍𝘿𝙎.ᐟ❞
K. BAKUGOU, S. TODOROKI, & I. MIDORIYA + SHY!GN. READER
𝙨𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙧𝙮 ; the main three when their shy/anxious s/o finally says 'i love you'<3
𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 ; fluff, hcs + scenarios, new relationships, literally that's it and skin color not mentioned
IZUKU MIDORIYA
izu just can't with this.
he understands how you're shy and all of that so it might take you some time to get comfortable saying those things
hell he even was scared to say it too but this long??? really?
izu has begun to think that you'd never say it at this rate...
he got so scared that you didn't love him at all and was just too scared to tell him the truth because you didn't wanna hurt his feelings!
or maybe he's just overthinking again...
that doesn't matter because izu never tells you his concerns. he wants you to take your time
he doesn't wanna rush you and make it forced!
that being said...when you finally do say it on your own, he thinks he just might lose his mind.
izuku's anxious sitting at his desk with you right beside him almost breaking the pencil in half and it was a mechanical pencil. he was holding back because he didn't want to frighten you but he just couldn't sit here while you're looking so cute.
he wanted to say he loved how cute you looked so bad but he was worried that maybe it'd make you uncomfortable since you weren't saying i love you to him yet.
that had been getting to him a lot lately and he didn't know how to handle it without talking to you. he knew how you were and didn't want to make it worse. see izuku himself was a fairly shy person, well not so much as he was in middle school but he understood you and your feelings but not enough for it to not bother him!
"ohhh! i get it now!" you exclaimed leaning back in your chair. your sudden loud speech snapped izuku out of his thoughts and he smiled at you sweetly with a hum escaping him.
you gave him a grin "thanks izu! i love you, i don't know what i'd do without you." you spoke without thinking and immediately closed your eyes out of embarrassment at what he'd say in response. you didn't think about what you were saying, you just said the first thing that came to mind...when you heard a loud bang, you opened your eyes and looked at your boyfriend with wide eyes.
izu's face was planted on the desk and he was letting out a hum that didn't seem positive or anything; more like he was a kettle on the stove. "oh uhm...are you okay?" you hesitantly asked going to reach for him but he snapped up before you could touch him. izuku's face was bright red and it looked like he was burning up "i love you too!" he shouted with a smile on his face clearly happy that you finally said that. you were a bit weirded out but at least he was happy.
KATSUKI BAKUGOU
oh please don't even get me started on katsuki...
like izu, he was really upset about you not saying you love him especially when he said it to you first and you didn't say it back
but unlike izuku, he could give less than a fuck about not wanting to talk to you about it
the only thing that stopped him from doing that was that denki told him that he'd probably hurt your feelings like that and that was the last thing he wanted to do so for once, he shut up
but his aggression was fairly obvious because every time he said he loved you with that frown on his face, it'd get deeper when you didn't say it back and just smiled at him
katsuki felt like he'd actually blow up a building if you took longer to say it.
"what the hell are you doing up there!?" katsuki shouted from down below in the training area while you stood on one of the buildings looking for denki who was supposed to be your other partner.
you looked down at the masked boy very cautiously i might add and just nervously gave him an 'uh' showing you didn't know. katsuki grunted in frustration as he looked around to see if there was any one from the other team around to make sure that you guys didn't lose. he was already beginning to sweat just from pure anger.
when the class was splitting up to go to the locker rooms for costume changes, katsuki had told you he loved you and that he'd see you on the grounds but...you didn't say it back. you just laughed a bit showing that you were growing embarrassed and gave him a very small peck on his cheek.
see katsuki did appreciate that but he wanted an 'i love you' back not a kiss especially not a little baby kiss to the cheek that one of his cousins would give him but again, he stayed silent and just grumbled under his breath in the lockerroom. he was already pissed off from that but now denki was nowhere to be found? that dumb fucker was probably lost.
little did the both of you know, he was behind you planning on surprising you which was not the best idea considering you were almost dangling over the edge of a building right now. "boo!" denki shouted in your ear making you jump and lose your footing. you slipped and fell off the edge of the building with a yelp drawing your boyfriend's attention.
he was quick to blast up into the air and catch you in his arms before you even slightly neared the ground "oh my god! i love you so much 'suki!" you said in desperation as you wrapped your arms around him and clutched onto him in fear that you'd fall. katsuki would never drop you but he almost did when he heard you finally say it back to him.
"ha! i thought you'd never say it!" katsuki shouted with a grin on his face as he landed on the ground, your face still stuffed in his shoulder. you hadn't even realized what you said until he just pointed it out "oh..." you muttered feeling embarrassment creep up on you as your boyfriend put you on the ground. you put your palms to your face to cover you hot face but the blonde grabbed your hands and forcefully pulled them away from your face "stop that shit! if you think i don't love you back, i do." katsuki said muttering the last part a little lower because denki was shouting apologies from the top of the building and could probably hear a few things.
katsuki had a bit to learn about embarrassment when saying that kind of stuff too.
SHOTO TODOROKI
pls dont ever talk to him about this
he'll actually just sit there silent probably dying inside
shoto has had his fair share of not getting told i love you or getting a sort of warped kind of love so you not saying i love you isn't something relatively new to him
but he still hates it.
he can't even begin to explain the ache in his chest when ou don't say it back to him, not like he'd ever explain it to anyone
unlike both of the other boys, he's extremely patient and no matter how he feels, he won't throw small tantrums over you not saying it and will just wait
but as he waited, he got more needy for hearing those three words
"sho..." you whined dragging out the o in your boyfriend's name while you tried to get up from under the many blankets shoto had you bundled under. he had the whole work for you.
thermometer on the bedside desk and cold medicine right next to it while you continuously sneezed and coughed in bed. you had gotten sick recently and your darling two-toned-haired boyfriend had been there for every step! making you food, running your baths, just being a complete sweetheart.
shoto, by default, was a sweet boyfriend but he had been a little extra kind lately in hopes that you'd tell him that you loved him for all of his efforts of going out of his way for you. he didn't know what was going on in your brain but he clearly knew you well because that was what you were planning to do.
telling the boy that you loved him would be the perfect way to express your gratitude to him for all he's done throughout your sickness that was caused by your stupidity of going to the market in the cold night after getting out of the shower "coming, my love." shoto said waddling into the room with a bowl of steaming ramen on the small wooden table he had in his hands to make it easier for you to eat in bed. he was really playing the house husband role.
"here, the broth will make you feel better. i promise." the boy said setting the table on the bed just above your legs while kneeling to the ground, you smiled at the todoroki boy deciding that this was the perfect time to tell him that you loved him.
with a blow toward the scalding bowl, you uttered the words quietly "i love you sho." you grew shy after saying that not knowing how he'd respond and his silence ate you alive. you grabbed your chopsticks as you kept your head down to avoid eye contact "sorry, just ignore it–" "no." he interrupted your excuse almost making you knock the bowl over with now fast your body turned to look at him again.
sho's cheeks were flushed a light pink "i love you too. just didn't expect you to say that." he said chuckling lightly with a smile on his face. it might've been true that he wished for you to say it now but it still surprised him.
in a good way though... "can i have a kiss?" you asked smiling back at your boyfriend who still gave you a close-eyed grin, sho stood to his feet "no. you will get me sick." he replied in a monotone before beginning to walk away muttering how he was going to get you something to drink.
you whined loudly throwing your head back. "sho....!"

KATSUKI BAKUGO; - you take a cat home... or not? crack﹗ ✧ Word count: 1.9 k
﹗warnings: swearing :D
a/n: Okay, so this ended up longer than intended, just enjoy! I hope I get you to laugh a little ;) . Comment your thoughts and remember my asks and dm's are open!
You were in your home, chopping vegetables for your lunch. The day was sunny, and you were in a good mood. Your favourite music was playing in the background, while your rice was cooking. Suddenly, your phone rang, it was Izuku. You knew Katsuki was currently working on a case with him and Todoroki, so you instantly picked up to learn the news. Maybe they already captured the villain, and they could come over for lunch!
"Hello, Izuku! Is everything alright?" you asked cheerily.
"Oh, hi (Y/n)! Well, uhm-" he was interrupted by something that sounded like a hiss, "Ouch! Kacchan, stop it! Todoroki-kun, could you help?"
"Izuku?" you asked, starting to get concerned.
"Sorry, (Y/n)! It's just, well... Wekindofhaveasituationhere, beacusewe werefightingavillain, but, uh- shehadaveryunusualquirk, and, well uhm-"
Okay, when that man starts to mumble, something is definitely wrong. If something happened, he better talk now.
"Izuku Midoriya, you have three seconds to spill it, before I pull a Katsuki on you" you practically ordered, your bubbly mood from before, long gone.
"Kaachan was turned into a cat!"
"What?!"
"Yeah, but don't worry, he's fine. Please come to the Agency! I swear we'll tell you more about it once you're here!"
"Oh, okay, alright. But is he fine?"
"He- he is! Just, please hurry? He's already scratched me like ten times..."
"I'm on my way" you hanged up and turned off the stove. Grabbed your keys, your phone and instantly headed out.
You made it to the Agency in record time and got as swiftly as you could out of the car and into the building.
"Ms (Y/L/N)!", Sasaki, the receptionist called right after you entered, "they're waiting for you in Dynamight's office!"
"Thanks, Sasaki!" you nodded, and headed straight into the elevator. You pressed the button for Katsuki's office and waited.
While the elevator went up, the news finally dawned on you. Your boyfriend was turned into a cat! By a villain! God knows for how long!
The doors of the elevator finally opened, and you sprinted to your boyfriend's workspace. When you got there, you slammed the door open and were met by Izuku's and Todoroki's eyes.
"Where is he?" you said, without greeting them
"He is seated in his chair" Todoroki responded, nodding to the corresponding direction.
You walked slowly into the room, to take a look at your boyfriend. Then, you spotted a fluffy yellowish cat, with the grumpiest face, seated on an office chair.
And you barked a laugh.
Then, you turned around to meet, Izuku's and Todoroki's confused stares, which only made you laugh louder.
"Uhm, (Y/n), are you okay? Izuku asked, with a concerned tone
"Yeah, I'm fine! It's just-" you chuckled, wiping the tears that your laughter provoked, "I just can't believe Pro hero Dynamight got quirked into a cat! How the hell did it happen anyway?" you questioned between laughter, earning a hiss from the cat.
"Well, this villain is called ‘Animaniac’. At first, we thought it was just a villain who could talk with animals, and we thought she had let out the animals from the Zoo. But while fighting, we discovered she actually turns people into animals, and the ones that were roaming around the city, are people who got hit by the quirk." Todoroki explained.
"Yeah, and when we were fighting her, she was going to hit a little girl with her quirk, but Kaachan acted faster, and got hit with the quirk instead..." Izuku continued.
"Aw, Kats... You're so sweet for protecting the girl!" and then started chuckling, "You're such a nice Kat!" and roared a laughter once again; this time earning contained chuckles from the other two heroes.
"He is Cat-suki!" exclaimed a laughing Izuku, and in a swift movement, the cat jumped from where he was seated and started attacking Izuku with his claws.
You gasped and instantly went to help Izuku, while Todoroki just stood there watching the scene unroll. The chaos went on for a few moments until an accidental scratch made your skin sting.
"Ouch! Okay, that's enough" you grabbed Katsuki from the neck, how a mother cat would take her kitten, and embraced him.
Finally, Izuku shook off the fur that got stuck in his clothes, breathing from relief. You sighed.
“So, tell me… Did you take him to the police or the doctors yet?”
“We went to the hospital, where the police met us. They told us the quirk was not going to last, long, but they took Bakugo’s hero costume to follow up the investigation.” Todoroki explained and you nodded in understanding.
“Good. So, I’ll take Katsuki home, and I’ll see you guys around?”
“Yes, (Y/N)! Take care! And please keep us updated if anything happens!” Izuku said, waving goodbye.
“Sure! See you!”
“Bye, (Y/N). Take care.” Todoroki said with a smile as you closed the office door behind you.
You made your way into the elevator, once you were alone with Katsuki, you spoke.
“Sorry for teasing you, it’s just such a funny situation.” The cat looked up as you continued, “Do you want to get in my purse? Or do you want me to keep carrying you?” the cat blinked.
“I’ll just carry you, then. I don’t want you getting stomped on, or kidnapped, or anything”. Just then, the elevator opened, and you walked to the exit.
“Bye, Sasaki!” you addressed the receptionist as you quickly passed by her place. You didn’t wait for an answer, since you were sure Katsuki would like to avoid any type of attention towards his cat form.
Once you were out of the building and inside your car, you spoke to Katsuki again,
“Kats, stay in my lap. I’ll just put the sit belt for both of us”, Katsuki blinked at you and did as you said, while you clicked the belt, covering both of you.
You started driving home, and the stillness of Katsuki made you slightly concerned.
“I know you can’t speak right now, but I feel like you’re acting a little weird. Do you feel okay? If you’re getting motion sickness, meow two times” he stayed silent.
A few more minutes passed until you pulled over in your driveway. You took off your sit belt and carried Katsuki inside your home.
His silence was making you believe he was mad that you made fun of him in front of his friends, so you put him in the kitchen aisle and said,
“Hey, Kats. I’m really sorry for teasing you. I know you must be feeling so unlike yourself right now, and you must not be in the mood to be make fun of. I’ll make it up to you, ‘kay? I’ll cook lunch” you offered him a smile.
Then, you put your apron on and continued the cooking you had started before all the chaos. When you poured the ingredients in the pan, the smell of the food seemed to content Katsuki, so he got off the counter and started to rub his head around your feet.
“I’m almost finished, babe. Just know that I didn’t cook it with spice this time, we don’t know if you’ll be as resistant in this form”.
“What form?” the voice made you jolt, you looked to the cat to see if he could talk, but then you spotted him.
Katsuki was standing near the entrance.
“What? Babe get behind me” you picked up the cat and put it behind your figure, as you took the knife you used to chop the vegetables and pointed it to the human Katsuki.
“Babe? What’s wrong?” he eyed the cat “Why is there a cat?” the confusion in his eyes was evident.
“Do not get closer or I’ll call the police!” you threatened when he tried to get closer.
“What the fuck, (Y/N)? Why are you acting so weird? Did you get hit it he head? Let me check if you have a concussion-” he took a couple steps towards you before you interrupted,
“I do not have a concussion! I just, how are you there? I don’t understand!” your voice sounded more exasperated than you wished.
Katsuki recognized you were starting to panic at the situation, so he had to make you calm down before anything escalated.
“Okay, I’ll prove to you that it is me.” He hummed, as he thought about a memory only the two of you knew, “Remember when we had our first date and you were laughing very hard, and then I hugged you and-”
“Stop! Okay, I get it, it’s you!” you tossed the knife to the counter and sighed.
“Now that it’s settled… Care to explain why you’re acting like a maniac?”
“I still don’t get why there’s two of you, is the effect of the quirk gone?” Katsuki’s eyes grew even wider.
“What quirk? There is no other me, are you sure you didn’t hit your head, freak?” he then went and took your head in his hands, hunching slightly to analyse your face.
“The quirk that hit you! The one that turned you into a cat? Do you not remember? We can call Izuku and Todoroki…”
“What? Okay, explain everything to me.” You narrated everything that happened since you received the call, the story that the two heroes told you and how you ended up with a cat.
“Those bastards pranked you. I’m gonna fucking Howitzer them into their next lifetime; see if they reincarnate in a cat, tch" he said as he hugged you. He rested his head in yours.
“I can’t believe I got pranked on by Izuku and freaking Shoto! How could I fall for that?!”
“You’re a dumbass” he chuckled “Even the name they made up for the villain sounded fake as fuck, and I wasn't even working with them today!”
“They were really convincing, I swear! Even the cat attacked Izuku, I really thought it was you!”
“He attacked him? We should keep it!”
“By the way, where is he?” you broke the embrace to search for the cat and caught him eating the food directly from the pan. You sighed.
“What should he call him?” Katsuki asked.
“We’re keeping him for real?” you asked surprised.
“Yes, whatever. He seems to like your food, and if he doesn’t like Deku, then it’s a plus.” You smiled while rolling your eyes.
“Then we should call him ‘Lord explosion!” Katsuki scoffed.
“Shut up. At least I didn’t confuse that cat with you and then proceeded to act like a nut case once I saw you.”
“Stop! We are so gonna get back at them for this. But I think we need to take care of Lord explosion first…” the cat was digging in one of your plant pots, which he then used as a litter box…
“Oh shit! Literal shit!”
Bonus: Sometime later that day...
“Do you think they’ll adopt the cat?” Izuku asked Todoroki. They were patrolling together. “Yes. But I’m sure once (Y/N) discovers that we lied, she will personally come to scold us”. “But we did it for a good cause! How else would they have taken the cat?” “I’m just surprised she fell for it, and found it amusing even…” Todoroki said in a thoughtful voice. Then, Izuku’s phone rang. It was your number. “What do we do?” Izuku’s nervousness evident in his voice. “I’ll answer” Shoto took the phone from Izuku’s hand and tapped the screen to speak with you, “Yes?” “Count your seconds, because we're coming for you two, including Lord explosion” then you hung up. “They’re adopted him” Todoroki shrugged and gave the phone to Izuku. Then, they continued their patrol, watching out for any other civilian or pet in need.

it's a story about hands (reprise)
Yeah, okay, today's the day.
I gave my blog that title for a reason, you know, and it has loomed over me for years because the hand motif is absolutely everywhere and you could go on about it forever.
Maybe that's something I'll never actually attempt to do, but this chapter, we reached a breaking point.
Before I continue, I need to give a big, big disclaimer: I do not have a physical disability, so I'm not able to speak about that from the standpoint of representation as a first-hand perspective. I have at least listened to enough disabled people to know that fictional characters who become amputees only to miraculously gain their limbs back is, um, a trope. Disabled people in general being "healed" is a conception we would really prefer to avoid here. Not to call people out, but I don't think we're giving enough space to acknowledge that.
I don’t feel comfortable making the judgement call about what should happen. I’m leaving that open. I also don't want to downplay people's emotional reactions. Honestly, I don't know if I can accurately define the line between acknowledging real pain vs. ableist pity. But I’d like to talk about the possibilities of what could happen. Other characters have definitely gotten permanent disabilities as a result of their hero work, or even just the side effects of their quirk. But, for better or worse, I don't think this case is really about representation. Not that Horikoshi won't do that justice. He might. What I'm saying is that's not his purpose for having Izuku lose his arms. It's meant to be symbolic, so we can explore what it means. The other thing I’m keeping in mind here is that Horikoshi is notorious for playing with our expectations, like, alllllll the time. I mean, just take a few chapters ago for a classic example. Eri appeared at the end, and we all assumed she was about to take some sort of action to save someone with her quirk. Then, immediately following, we were given an explanation for why that wouldn’t be happening. And now it’s clear he wanted to do that “fake out” not just as a silly cliffhanger prank, but specifically so we would know not to suspect that Eri could be the miraculous solution to Izuku’s loss of his arms. Rest assured, there is no easy way out of this.
The expectation at play in this particular instance is an old one. It’s very understated, but its subtext has burned so brightly, you’d be a fool not to notice it. It sits with anticipation like one half of a call and response. Man, I was so certain. Lots of people still are. I was really looking forward to printing the panel where it happened onto a t shirt and wearing it proudly. All the hand motifs in this story radiate thematically from a single moment, the one that started it all for Izuku.
It raises all kinds of questions about the act of saving, who needs saving, why, what does it mean, what are the dynamics of power, politics, honesty, exploitation, compassion, pity, disdain, sacrifice. Katsuki has dealt with many of these since he first rejected Izuku’s hand. While Izuku was the one who was convinced Katsuki would keep on rejecting him…
…Katsuki was the one who kept that moment in his mind all these years and eventually came to regret it.
Katsuki is the one yearning for that hand-hold, the one who has imbued it with so much more weight than it ever originally had. Izuku, in contrast, does not allow himself to dwell on what he wants. To illustrate this difference, we need to look at another piece of foreshadowing:
Ugh, do y'all remember when lots of folks were complaining about how there never seemed to be actual consequences for Izuku's destructive treatment of his own body? I don't blame them, I was concerned and confused about it too. There were several "fixes" along the way. Recovery Girl healed him, but left a physical reminder. Then he started training to fight with his legs… sometimes. Then he got support items. All of these were unsatisfying non-conclusions because they didn't present Izuku with a lasting enough impression to change in a meaningful way. They didn't address his core, his origin.
Of course, that all changed this chapter. Now it looks like our frustration was inflicted intentionally. With the current context in mind, all of these moments look more sinister, like this day was always gonna come because they kept putting bandaids on a deep emotional and psychological wound. The problem is pretty much spelled out for us here:
As Katsuki put it, he just doesn’t take himself into account, ya know? He doesn’t care what happens to him. And he lies about it, to keep others from worrying, to keep them safe. To keep them from returning the favor and putting themselves in harm’s way for his sake. His motivations are noble,
…but what about the little boy inside Izuku? Who saves him?
This is all about Izuku giving himself up to the point that he literally has no more to give. The thing is, I bet he saw this coming. He knew his limits and decided to keep going anyway, because his personal safety and wellbeing are not important. Now that way of thinking has come back to bite him because the fight isn’t over yet, and he’s already made his sacrifice. So now we know who will be more distraught over this. Not Izuku—Katsuki.
It’s not about Izuku becoming disabled, it’s about how Katsuki wanted to use the intertwining of their fingers to communicate that he would never let go. Never stop valuing him most. Never let himself make the mistake of rejecting him again. Never let Izuku be so reckless with his life. To say: “we are in this together.”…if only Katsuki believed he deserved to be able to say such things. To reach out his hand would have been the ultimate way to simply imply them and let Izuku be the one to decide. Then, to feel their hands clasped together would be more than either of them dared hope for, but so beautiful, so right. A moment they’ve waited their whole lives for.
Yeah. That’s what we were expecting. We’ve been so comfortable. Horikoshi gave us all the signs. He tempted and teased us over and over. BUT. You know he does this thing were he gives us a desirable, completely plausible and simple thing to look forward to, and then he snatches it away. And THEN he replaces it with something much better, something we were not expecting at all because it seemed too good to be true. That’s exactly what happened when Himiko snatched Izuku away, and we were robbed of the chance to see him and Katsuki fight together. In hindsight, though, I’m glad things went a different way because now there’s so much more depth and angst on display. Likewise, in the present moment, we may consider how, as one door closes, another opens.
As wonderfully meaningful as the hand-hold would have been, perhaps it is still too simple a resolution for Izuku, for his and Katsuki’s relationship. Tbh, it could have been done like 100 chapter ago. At this point, there’s so much more potential. There are a couple of ways it could go. If Izuku stays armless, Katsuki will be forced to use other methods to get his point across. He’ll have to do something else, or say what he means, or both. Yes, I’m talking about what you think I’m talking about. If I say it, I just might jinx it (lol), but I mean it. I’m being serious. Either way, if Izuku did get his arms back in the end, I’m sure that it wouldn’t be an easy fix. It would be hard-won against Izuku’s self-destructive mindset, and/or by Katsuki’s conviction. Again, I say this knowing it is not meant so much as a representation of disability, but as a representation of Izuku’s greatest character flaw taken to the extreme. I know this might sound harsh, like, hasn’t he been through enough? I get that, but… I’ve said it before and I say it again: Izuku is stubborn as hell.
I wish I had a resounding final note to end this on, but I kinda don’t. I’m not sure what’s best. Now we just have to wait and see what Horikoshi has in mind.

more hcs of this bnha x hades au
Perhaps you're a young Olympian Deity, watching the prince of the Underworld slash his way towards the surface, stumbling and falling along the way but still never giving up. You'd never heard of Shouto before, never knew the Lord of the Underworld had children at all. Actually, that he had siblings would have been unknown to you too if Keigo hadn't let a tiny piece of information slip and you hadn't prodded him further on it.
Ever since then you couldn't help but watch the prince's escape attempts. Sure, you weren't the only one, well aware the older Gods and Goddesses, as well as younger ones like Izuku and Katsuki, were keeping an eye on him as well, all for their own reasons. To be honest, you weren't quite sure what Shouto's reasons for leaving the Underworld were in the first place, but you still felt for him, seeing how desperately he struggled against his father.
That was it, you thought. The reason you quietly sent your blessings, however small they may be, to the depths of the Underworld was because you felt empathetic. Yet, your immortal heart couldn't help but skip a beat when you imagined your messages being accepted.
Perhaps you are a Chthonic Deity serving the House, who's consequently spent a lot of time with and/or around Shouto. You had brushed past each other pretty much every day for centuries as you went about your bureaucratic duties and Shouto pretended to do the same. Of course you were aware he wasn't happy here, he never really tried to hide it after all.
Therefore, it didn't really come as a surprise to you when Shouto first ventured beyond the House and into Tartarus, it was more of a confirmation. Still, when you were talking to your brother Shinsou, who oversaw the Pool of Styx, you couldn't help but feel a twinge of concern for the bloody prince trudging by, leaving footprints all over the hall. Not because you were worried he'd fail, but because you knew he wouldn't give up trying until he succeeded, no matter how long it took or what it cost.
Shinsou made a comment as he passed, something snarky about what had gotten him back into the House so soon, but you'd be lying if you said you paid it much attention. Your focus was still on Shouto, who had paused and tilted his head, little drops of blood nearly imperceptible on the left side of his head but all the more obvious on his right, creating the impression his laurels were melting off his head. No matter the twinge in your heart, you knew you wouldn't try to stop him. No, you'd help him, even if it meant letting him go where you wouldn't be able to follow, as long as it meant he'd be happier.
Or perhaps you were mortal once, whether you were someone or no one in life of not much importance now that you dwelled in the Underworld. Death frankly wasn't as bad as people had always made it out to be, if anything the worst part was the monotony of it all. Day in and day out the same halls to wander, night in and night out the same regrets hanging over your fellow shades. Even new arrivals lost their novelty quickly in a place like this, especially when you were facing an eternity of it.
Unlike most mortals, however, you had been allowed to keep your physical form after death for reasons only the Gods could know. Not that it had changed much for you until now, but you made what you could of it, building something akin to a home for yourself.
It was hard to tell how long you had resided this way, the very nature of the Underworld rendering your perception of time quite useless. Until one day someone disturbed the monotony of your death like ripples on water. He was bloody, bruised and generally in a bad shape when he stumbled towards your home and, with nothing better to do, you took him in so he could rest. You knew he had looked familiar to you, that there was great power rolling off of him, but never would you have guessed it was the prince of the Underworld currently occupying one of your chairs.
That first time Shouto bid you goodbye fairly quickly, but grateful for your help nonetheless. With each appearance, however, he started staying longer and slowly opening up to you more. You couldn't recall what your previous thoughts on the Underworld royalty had been, but you liked talking to the prince a fair deal and you caught yourself looking forward to seeing him again, despite knowing you were probably just a passing acquaintance on his way to where he really wanted to be. You could understand the desire to be reunited with someone you had lost long ago, of course. And yet, every time you saw Shouto off, you couldn't help but hope he would pass by your home again, just one more time.

ʜᴇʀᴏᴇꜱ ᴠɪʟʟᴀɪɴꜱ ᴀɴᴅ ᴏᴛʜᴇʀ ᴛʜɪɴɢꜱ ᴘʀᴏʟᴏɢᴜᴇ: ɪɴɴᴏᴄᴇɴᴄᴇ ɪꜱ ꜰʀᴀɢɪʟᴇ

summary: your childhood
warnings: nightmares, anxiety, depression, murder, death, violence, mention of running away
an: izuku is honestly a cute beam of sunshine here in reader’s sad little life. Not proofread.
“Y/N?” His soft breaks you out of your self deprecating thoughts. You’re both sitting under a tree, watching Bakugo and his lackeys play heroes in the playground.
You look up into his soft doe eyes. “Yeah?”
“Are you okay? I..couldn’t help but notice you seemed to be sad.” Izuku says, looking concerned.
You smile in fake happiness, “I’m fine. Why aren’t you with them?” You gesture towards Bakugo with a nod of your head.
“Oh..well, cause I’m, y’know, quirkless, and stuff, he doesn’t want me to join in. Cause heroes have quirks..and they're playing heroes. Actually, why aren’t you with them?” He twiddles his fingers nervously.
You frown, “That’s stupid. You can be a hero if you wanted to Izuku. And I’m not with them cause Bakugo thinks a quirk called ‘pickpocket’ sounds villainy.”
He flushes, eyes widening, in hope you think. "Really..?" Practically ignoring what you said after.
You nod, "You can be one, Izuku." Secretly wishing he would assure you that your quirk wasn’t evil, but it’s not like you could talk.
He blinks, a bunch of unreadable emotions going through him. "Thank you.."
You pause, "What time is it? I think I have to go now." He frowns, "You haven't even been here that long." You pause, thinking of a lie.
"Er..I have an appointment." You say, hoping he believes it.
He pauses not quite believing it, but too nice to pry. "Ok..see you tomorrow?" He asks hopefully.
You smile and nod, relieved he somewhat believed you. "I'll try." He hoped he wouldn't question how and why you planned on going home. Or how you even got here at the park for that matter.
Yep, nothing suspicious about a five year old going to a park all by themselves.
You waved bye, “Bye Izuku.” As you left, you passed by Bakugo, and stuck your tongue out.
He glares at, looking like he’s about to say something, but you’re too far to hear it.
The walk home is adventurous. Following your parent’s advice, use and ‘practice’ your quirk’s abilities by ‘borrowing’ wallets. You knew it was wrong. But your daily practice helped your family get by. Granted, the least they could do was be proud of you for helping.
You make it home, dumping your pockets contents, save for some 5 dollar bills. “Mom.” You say, announcing your arrival.
Just another normal day as a low rank thief.
—————
You’re eight now. With a bigger knowledge of the world and reality then any child should know. Using your quirk everyday to see what’s inside other’s pockets, then pickpocketing it.
Downright evil. You can’t help but feel glad Izuku won’t ever get to know. He’d try to save you or whatever.
You still continue meeting up with him at the park, playing together. Even though he would probably like to visit you, and maybe a bit hurt that you refuse.
That is, till you see your parents die.
A completely normal day. Mother hits you for not meeting the quota. You don’t cry. You’re used to it.
Your dad doesn’t show up till late night, and frantic. He immediately starts packing up after a brief conversation with your mom and a lot of yelling. Soon your mom joins in, telling you to make yourself useful and help.
So you do. And right in the process of stuffing your saved and stolen money into all your pockets, you hear someone banging on the door.
And who could that be, so late at night? And why did your parents look so terrified?
“We’re too late.” Your mother utters, standing still in terror. “Late?” You question.
That snaps her out of it. “Hide in the cupboards. Now.”
You blink, “Why?”
“Just do it!”
More banging, and curses.
She grabs your old stuffed dog toy, long discarded, and shoves it into your hands. “Don’t make a sound, and hang onto that.”
She pushes you into a cramped cupboard, and you protest. “Stay here and if you hear anything, don’t scream, don’t cry, don’t make a sound. Got it?”
You blink in shock, “Why..?”
She deeply inhales, “Your father borrowed money from people, bad people. So now they want to hurt him. And they don’t care who. So hide.”
That shuts you up. You nod, and your mother sighs, “Good. And don’t come out till you hear absolutely nothing.” She pauses, and the door breaks. “I love you.” She closes the door, and leaves you in darkness.
You hear screaming, and gunshots. It makes you jump, and you close your eyes shut. You dare to crack the door, just a bit.
What you see makes you wish you had obeyed. Your blood runs cold. Your dad lies dead, bleeding from his head, eyes lifeless but wide open.
Your mom was a gun pressed against her head.
“Where’s the money!” The man, at least you think is on, barks.
“U-under the mattress!” Your mom manages to say.
Which she would be right. If not for the fact that while you were packing up, you had grabbed it and put it in your pockets. You stiffen. If your mom died, her blood would be on you.
One of the men stormed into your shared room. A bunch of noises of things getting tossed around, and he returned, shaking his head. “Nuthin.”
The man cocks the gun. “Last chance.”
“I don’t know!” She cries. The gun goes off. And your mom falls over in a pool of her own blood.
You almost cried out and got out of the darn cupboard. But you remember her words.
You wanted to go out there and kill them. But now is not the time. You grip the stuffie, practically strangling it.
You wake up in a cold sweat. You blink. Oh right. You are not eight anymore. You are seventeen, had some kills under your belt, and was living in a shoddy abandoned shed on the top of a rooftop.
You rub your eyes, thinking about how somehow, your eight year old self had stuffed everything they could into a backpack, opened the window and never looked back.
You even still had that darn stuffie. It was a miracle you had lived this long. No thanks to heroes.
Today was a new day of stealing, maybe killing if anyone got in your way. Granted, you had already gotten your revenge by slitting their throats with a knife, after a long three years of stalking.
And you did feel guilty for indirectly being the reason your mother died. And maybe the authorities were on your tail. But you had outrun them. Maybe. Probably.
You sigh, surveying your scars on your arm. Caused by getting into knife fights with low rank scum.
You get off the floor and your sad excuse of a mattress, and start your day.

Look Up, Darlin'
Pairing: Bakugou x reader (biker! pro-hero reader, some afab pronouns used)
Words: 1.7k
Rating: G~
Warnings: Pro-Hero Bakugou domestic fluff, TW: eyedrops, if you're squeamish, established relationship, tooth-rotting fluff, "Bakugou knows best"TM
Summary:
Bakugou’s prized love placed a newly fallen-asleep leg down on the ground with an uncomfortable groan. He has half a mind to chew you out on your posture again; he’s told you time and time again that you’re gonna wreck your lower back that way… But you really haven’t learned how to manage your time well enough to finish your work at the office rather than bring it home every night- especially as you’ve been asking for more and more to cover expenses. It’s a bad habit, but one he still finds a soft spot towards… and Bakugou is not so high-and-mighty that he won’t step in and give you the helping hand you need.
A/N: Oops, I loved Midoriya's stress relief tactics so much in Reheat, I let Bakugou try his hand at some comfort! Enjoy, lovelies, and thank you for the love, as always!

Read on Ao3
Back from an evening patrol route, Katsuki sighs at the hour listed on the microwave. Not much time left before you have to leave for yours. It’s his least-favorite patrol cycle, where you two are working opposite each other; but it only happens every two months -lasting only about five or six days each time. It’s enough to put him in a soured mood, but fortunately he’s been working on his attitude at your insistence.
Best to enjoy what time he can, rather than be a grump about what he’s missing. Your routine has been disrupted too, after all.
However, the sight he comes home to flares up his disappointment even more: though this time, irritation sits in his chest because of you.
Finding you situated in the living room this way is becoming a bit of a habit; and not one that Katsuki loves. You’re stretching out your leg with a wince, which you’ve no doubt sat on for too long again. He really outta chew you out for this.
–at least he would, until he got a better angle of your face: tightness and tension seep from every pore, sinking your eyes and draining your usually enduring spirit by the minute.
Now of course, he was primarily concerned if you were having a charlie horse or circulation issues, because he reasoned that could affect your quirk. But moreover, you did not look comfortable. An 'I told you so' was also out of the question. It would hurt your feelings– not be a swift kick in the butt that would motivate someone like Izuku.
So the questions remains, how to best help you… He's getting too damn soft around you.
This was a key difference between your work habits– not worthy of a fight, but a point of debate you usually opt to table for another time whenever he brings it up. Katsuki liked to get the back-end, post-mission paperwork done on-site at the agency, even if it took him longer after the fight to get home. Meanwhile, you liked to take your time, get ahead of the mad rush at the office after your adrenaline leveled out, and chose to work on it from the comfort of your couch. The latter would spare you the mental space after a battle, but opened up potential procrastination of the job entirely.
In both instances, he prided himself on his method and would defend it, even now. That said, he sure hated seeing you like this- when you fall on your method with a fumble.
Instead of a snark or a sigh, Katsuki comes up behind you with remarkable stealth for his character, interrupting your tired typing flow with his reflection cast faintly on your screen. He arrives just in time to get you back on track, reaching over the sofa and bringing your shoulders back with warmed hands.
"Those are some tired eyes, wifey."
Katsuki kissed the crown of your head firmly. You may not be his actual wife yet, but he can’t help trying out the name. Lucky for him, you haven’t had the heart to correct him yet, so he gathered it’s enough of a sign to keep it up.
The day he finally makes it a reality will be a fully-realized dream come true. But for now, he’s set to save for the perfect ring, the perfect moment, and build up the skills needed to take care of you. Why not get a head start?
You exhale at his touch and freshly washed-up smell-- immediately regretting working for this long of a stretch, because the second your eyes shut, they stung.
"Got more left?"
"Mhm."
"Wouldja rather dictate?"
"You would be my secretary?" you couldn't believe the offer, despite his amused huff across your pinned up hair at the idea. He took it out, to run his hands through instead.
Feels ungodly good, those hands– when they're not overworked and overheated, Katsuki keened when you told him so the first time he took to this method of relaxing you.
"If it would get your ass in bed sooner,” Katsuki snarks, “then yes. How long you been up.”
“Got up a few hours ago, to finish up~”
Katsuki chewed the inside of his lip with a scowl. So you didn’t get as much sleep as usual, it seems. Getting up early ahead of your 12-hour shift in order to finish your previous day’s work wasn’t best practice, and that’s exactly where he’s found you.
This didn’t please him at all, but the blonde keeps his tongue from clicking its displeasure at you.
You sink into the movement of each fingertip, "It's more the eye strain getting to me than the lack of brain power, now."
"Well, you know what fixes those problems..."
Eye drops: which you hated, or coffee: which got you wired, not rested. Neither were a pleasant option at this hour, and made you groan.
With his long reach, Katsuki double swiped through what comment fields were left on your laptop, and simply made an executive decision to 'Save Progress' and shut the laptop down. You’d fallen prey to his massaging hand and whined once you registered what he did.
"None’a that,” he gripes at your moan, “C’mon. Off to bed."
"It's work, Katsuki. I need to do it."
"You NEED to set a timer. Barely ten minutes left’a work. Set it for after a nap." Katsuki rounded the couch and appeared before you as you tried for a spinal twist in his absence.
"Thirty, if you're me,” you reply, “You rush. I’ve read your sum-ups…"
You say it with a smirk, but Katsuki is hardly in a joking mood.
"Says the woman working herself into an early grave. I think I'll stick with my ‘Sparknotes’, thank you very much," he crossed his arms.
Works for him, after all. You stared off at the offending computer in a way that Katsuki could only hope was you mentally running through the possibility that maybe there was something to his strategy that you could adopt in your favor.
Katsuki scoffed, then simply took your phone up without a fight from you, "Fine, I'll set it."
By the time he’s done, he centered back to you, but to a sad sight. You’re zoned out and defeated, exhausted. Summoning the grace you offer him in droves, Kats decides to soften the blow of his arrival home with a compliment, to ease your clear regret. No need to add lemon juice to your self-inflicted wounds.
"You take your time, and it does get ya results. It's good work. I'll give you that," Katsuki stuck your phone back on its charging pad, then squatted with his hands on his thighs, "--it aint worth all this."
No fight left in you on the matter, you thankfully agree, "... okay."
"Okay?"
"...I'll take the stupid eye drops."
“Good start...”
A hint lies unspoken in his tone. Just a pause, waiting on you to read into the rest like he knows you can…
“And-” you sigh and place a hand over his on his knee, “I’ll rethink this whole remote work thing.”
-Perfect-
"Atta girl," Katsuki chipped your chin up, and snuck a couple fingers to his back pocket. Taking a knee on the couch between your thighs, he stayed situated above you and into your space so you’d have no way to back out of what’s needed right now. "Four eyes, off."
You look shocked he has a bottle of eyedrops on demand. What do you take him for, a stupid extra? Of course he’s prepared. What do you think all these pockets are for, tictacs?
"-What, now?"
"Yes, now."
Shedding your blue light glasses, you tisk away your trepidation, "You were gonna make me use ‘em anyway."
"Cry me a river. Oh wait– you can't, cuz you don’t listen to your own frickin’ eyelids. Now c'mon, don't be difficult, dummy -look that way- dammit, do you ever blink..."
He kept your jaw up gently at first, knowing he’d likely have to borderline hold your entire throat in place when you blinked like mad and flail back after just one squeeze.
You’d figured out a little trick by looking off into the corner of a room to help with the anticipation; Katsuki even used to make you count down to ‘zero’- only to execute the drops early, as a psych-out. You knew all the tactics now, so little worked to distract you, but whether he had to pull out all the stops or not, you still hated this process.
Katsuki snarked through this little task with the bottle’s topper wedged between his teeth. The drops’ sting fortunately did lessen and give way to some cooling relief once he capped it again. Unsurprisingly, he sassed that you shouldn't wipe it all off, but he did take a surprisingly gentle touch at swiping away the excess from your lashline and cheeks for you. With more blinks, you were happy to give him a little apologetic smile.
"What do we say?" Katsuki purred with a smirk.
"Thank you."
"Thank you, what?"
"Thank you Lord Explosion Murder God, Dynamight, the Ultimate and Benevo-"
Stocked up with your praises, Katsuki kisses you: gentle in entry, but with a passionate tongue to shut you up.
"You're welcome,” he nudged noses with you, “-now come cuddle your murder god before you and I both pass out."
By his count, you’ve got two and a half hours before you need to scoot on out the door. He compromised on your cram time to an even twenty minutes to finish your report, fully confident you’ll be just fine with what you turn in. You’ll give him another sleepy kiss before he settles back into bed, you’ll take your dinner to-go, and he’ll take care of the rest of the chores around the apartment when he wakes up. May not love these wacky arrangements, Katsuki thinks, but the payoff will be more than worth it come Monday.
He’s a hero; he can handle a few nights without you nestled in as his personal weighted blanket. For now, a quick cat-nap will do– for both of you.

I hope this will be short.
I guess this line is the fandom drama of the chapter?
I understand a lot of you are really passionate about the accuracy of the English translation. I just want to encourage you to try to engage with the official translation in good faith.
Ojama shimasu literally means "I am disturbing you/I will get in your way." It's often spoken as a greeting where the "apology" is implied (hence the brackets in my translation), but as usual context is everything in Japanese. Izuku is saying this line in defiance of Tomura's wishes. It basically comes across as Izuku plugging his fingers in his ears.
Me personally? If I were the official translator, I'd have strongly considered translating the line as "I'm coming in whether you like it or not."
The purpose in my pointing out the "common greeting" nature of this line was to demonstrate Izuku's sassiness. This is Izuku doing his "meddling where you don't technically have to" thing. The level of formality in Izuku's speech doesn't necessarily translate to actual politeness (check out @bakuhatsufallinlove's excellent post on that here).
Does "You will let me in," mean the exact same thing? Technically no, but it's the sentiment that counts. From an official translator's point of view, "You will let me in," is shorter, punchier, fits in the speech bubble a lot easier, and still conveys the general idea of what's happening in the scene.
I don't know. I wanted to talk about this because I guess a lot of people are concerned about Izuku's characterization and how it reflects on Japanese culture and how the official translation may be misrepresenting Japanese culture to the English-reading audience, and I just...can I ask that everyone take a step back a minute? Horikoshi isn't writing his story for an English-reading audience. He's not considering at all how any of this sounds to English speakers. That's the translator's job, not just to translate what is said but to translate that into the context of who is reading it. Localization is not a dirty word--it's an important aspect of translation. And the notion that Izuku is being polite and respectful here as a Japanese person is just such a...take. Izuku is being hella rude here lol. Japan itself, not just the MHA Japan but REAL WORLD Japan, notoriously has a bystander problem where people will ignore others who are being harassed because they don't wanna get involved. They won't step in to help nor will they even testify as a witness against others for fear of what it means to speak out and break from the pack. Izuku is quite obviously Horikoshi's direct answer to that phenomenon. He's meant to be an example of the morally correct thing to do, which is to be "rude" in these cases.
So I mean, sure, we can talk about what is lost in translation by the line, "You will let me in." But to me what's lost may just be grammatical and pedantic (like the passive voice that switches the onus of action onto Tomura instead of Izuku and what that may do to the focus on Izuku's rise to action here). In any case, it's not a BAD translation that changes Izuku's perceived politeness, just one that may prompt new discussion--and I don't think that's a bad thing.

Izuku’s big green eyes were wide and trembling. He looked appalled, and somewhat horrified as well, although you supposed that was only natural, considering what you’d just asked him. In a human-dominated world such as this one, someone like you was an obvious anomaly.
Still, you weren’t feeling well right now. Far from it, as a matter of fact. The suddenness of your being brought into this different realm was clearly having an adverse effect on your body. You couldn’t remember the last time you’d felt such a dizzying wave of hunger before.
If you didn’t consume some blood, and soon, things were going to get ugly.
You swallowed hard, trying not to scare him too much. “I can understand... why you’d be shocked. I’ve been catching you off guard with so many different things. But, um, you see... I’m actually a vampire. I need to drink blood in order to survive. And I'm feeling super weak all of a sudden...”
Cue the silence. He wasn’t speaking at all. Actually, it was more accurate to say that he couldn’t speak, what with the way his mouth had frozen from shock. His reaction was enough to tell you that vampires definitely weren’t commonplace in this world, unlike what you’d been hoping for.
“V-Vampire,” Izuku blinked, still trying to wrap his head around your words. “This is all just... I’m sorry, but I don’t know what to think. By vampire, you mean those supernatural beings that drink blood from humans?”
“Ah. So, you have heard of us.”
“Only in books and movies! Not in real life!”
“Well, it looks as though what may be fiction in one world is actually reality in another. When you think about it, having multiple worlds in the first place is already crazy enough. Before I was cast away, I hadn’t even considered the possibility.”
As much as you would have loved to sit down and have a proper conversation explaining the details of your situation, you could feel yourself growing weaker by the second. At first, it was just that your body felt hot and you were rather dizzy, but your stomach was starting to have painful pangs, and the cut on your shoulder was throbbing uncontrollably. You hadn’t realized just how much strain this change would place on your body. Fuck...
You felt like you might go insane.
“I-I’m sorry for frightening you,” you managed weakly. This was bad. This was really, really bad. If Izuku didn’t agree to give you some of his blood, you were afraid that in your desperation, you might just lunge straight at him. The whole purpose of you being here was so that you could learn to control yourself, but how could you do that under these circumstances? Your body felt like it was being ripped apart from the inside. Even your brain was starting to turn to mush.
Izuku now looked visibly concerned, although it could have been that your vision was also starting to fail you. Either way, it seemed like he was beginning to take your words much more seriously. The way you kept on gasping for breath and clutching at your injured shoulder probably had something to do with it.
“Are you... telling the truth?” he asked quietly. “If you’re really telling the truth, and you need to do this otherwise you won’t survive... then I don’t mind giving you my blood.”
You gave him a look of disbelief. He... actually believed you? If vampires truly didn’t exist in this world, then he really had no reason to. You imagined that most people would have probably shrugged you off, assuming that you were putting on some overdramatic performance for whatever reason. Maybe they would have even thought you were insane.
But not Izuku. You could tell by the way he was looking at you. Whether or not he was truly convinced by your words, it seemed like in this moment, the only thing he was interested in was helping to ease your pain.
He wanted to save you. That was what his eyes seemed to convey.
“If you really don’t mind... then, please,” you nodded. Beads of cold sweat had begun to form across your forehead. You were on the verge of passing out if you didn’t drink any blood soon, and now that you were in a foreign land, you feared to discover just how dire the consequences would be.
Izuku glanced around, then gestured for you to follow him. “L-Let’s maybe go somewhere a bit more private,” he offered. “If you think you’re able to make it a bit further...?”
That was probably for the best. Drawing needless attention to yourself wouldn’t do you any favors, and you were fairly certain that most people would be flabbergasted—and probably horrified—if they saw what you were about to do.
Steeling yourself against the pain, you followed Izuku and headed for a more secluded area. He kept on glancing over at you nervously the whole time, checking in to make sure you were still okay. Well, you weren’t really okay, but relief was only a short while away, so you told yourself to hold on just a bit longer.
Finally, you seemed to have reached a good spot. A small alleyway behind a rather shoddy-looking building. You hoped its poor condition meant that most people wouldn’t come this way.
Izuku looked nervous, and you couldn’t really blame him. “Um, so...” he said, twiddling his thumbs. “H-How exactly do we do this...?”
“The neck,” you said, swallowing impatiently. “It’s the easiest spot for me to bite into. But if you’re too scared, I could use your arm instead. Actually, maybe it’s better that way. It’ll be easier for you to push me back if you need to.”
“Why would I need to push you back?”
“Because...”
Because I might not be able to stop myself.
You didn’t voice that last part out loud, as guilty as you felt about it. There was no point in scaring Izuku off, especially since it wouldn’t change your predicament in the slightest. If he got too frightened and ran off, you would just have to find some other poor person to feed off. And unlike with Izuku, you doubted they would go along so willingly.
You also didn’t exactly have the luxury of time on your side. The longer you waited, the weaker you became and the more ravenous you felt. The worst-case scenario would be if you lost control of yourself and started attacking people indiscriminately. After all, your family wouldn’t be here to stop you this time.
“Never mind,” you said with a shake of your head. “But... if you’re sure you want to do this, then please roll up your sleeve and stick your arm out.”
Izuku nodded hastily and did just that. He exposed his forearm, which was practically blemish-free, a small dusting of freckles strewn across certain areas. Even though hardly anything had changed, you could feel your heart beating a bit faster. He smelled way too good. If this was how good he smelled, you could only imagine how much better he would taste.
It was a challenge, but you forced yourself to get a grip. You never wanted a repeat of what had happened with your friend. You never wanted to hurt someone like that ever again.
Fingers shaking a bit, you carefully grabbed Izuku’s arm and lifted it towards your mouth. You were both quite nervous, it looked like, but each for the opposite reason. Izuku’s was for fear of getting hurt, and yours was for fear of hurting him.
But there was no way around it. You weren’t about to roll over and die after being in this new world for less than a day.
You parted your lips and unhinged your jaw. Izuku let out a little gasp when he saw the way your teeth sharpened; your canines turning into pointed fangs. If he didn’t believe you to begin with, it looked like he was definitely starting to now.
“This is going to hurt quite a bit,” you warned him. You felt it was only fair for him to prepare himself in advance. Izuku, however, didn’t seem deterred.
“It’s okay,” he nodded. “You need help. I’m going to help you.”
Without giving him another chance to second-guess his decision, you sank your fangs into the skin near his wrist. As expected, he let out a hiss and sucked in a breath of air to keep from screaming. All things considered, he was taking it surprisingly well. Most people who weren’t used to having their blood sucked tended to panic quite a bit the first time.
But honestly, you were too distracted to marvel in his bravery right now. Just as you’d surmised, his blood really was beyond your expectations. Different humans tended to have different tastes; like with everything else in life, there was a certain amount of variety you could expect. That being said, you’d tasted plenty of delicious blood before.
Even so, Izuku’s was easily the best.
You slurped from his skin greedily, relieved to feel your strength coming back to you almost at once. Every so often, Izuku would scrunch up his nose and shudder. His eyes were squeezed shut, probably because he was too scared to actually watch what was happening. That was fine, though. He was already being more than generous towards you, and for a human who’d only just found out vampires actually existed, his courage was truly admirable.
It was like you’d died and gone to heaven, if there really was such a place. Assuming vampires were allowed in heaven, anyways. The point was that you’d never tasted anything so delicious before in your entire life, and you wanted to keep gorging yourself on his blood—for the rest of eternity, if you could.
Alas, you couldn’t. It was hard, really hard, but you forced yourself to pull away. Izuku’s blood was intoxicating, but you needed to learn from your mistakes. You couldn’t harm the person who’d risked his own wellbeing just to try and help you.
Gaze lidded, you wiped the back of your hand across your mouth, cleaning away any blood that still lingered on your lips. “All done,” you said.
Izuku finally worked up the nerve to open his eyes again and get a proper look at you. He paused for a moment, looking a bit uncertain, before finally glancing down near his wrist, where he noticed the two puncture marks your fangs had left behind.
“Y-You really drank my blood,” he marveled, lightly pressing near the wounds. They were definitely tender, so he winced a bit when he applied a touch too much force.
“Thank you so much,” you sighed heavily. “I’m feeling a lot better now. I made sure not to take too much blood from you, but how is it? Are you feeling lightheaded or anything like that? Does it still hurt a lot even though I’ve stopped?”
Izuku shook his head. “No... I’m okay. I’m not really sure how to describe it, but I could definitely feel that you were sucking my blood out. I-It's not a sensation I ever thought I would experience, that much is for sure.”
“You’re amazing, Izuku. You let me suck your blood even though you must have been so scared.”
“I’m nothing special!” he blurted. His face had turned red again. You figured it had less to do with you sucking his blood and more so the fact that you’d complimented him. “You weren’t looking so good earlier, but it seems like that’s changed for the better now. I’m so relieved,” he smiled. “That means I was able to make a difference, right?”
Although you’d only just met, it was already abundantly clear that he was a good guy.
You grinned back at him. “Back in my world, even the humans that are used to having their blood sucked still get a bit scared from time to time. But you took it like a champ, even though you didn’t know what to expect. You really are incredible. There’s no need to be embarrassed. Being brave is something to take pride in.”
“I-I-If you say so!” Izuku spluttered nervously. He didn’t seem to handle praise well. Perhaps he wasn’t used to hearing it?
If that was the case, then you’d have to do your best to change fix that.
But seriously... what a relief. I felt like I was going to die if I didn’t drink any blood right away.
The reality was that you very well could have died. There was no one here to look after you. Even though this punishment seemed quite cruel, you knew that you’d only ended up in this position thanks to your negligence. A life was a life. Like your parents had said, you needed to never take it for granted ever again.
Although the momentary silence wasn’t unsettling, Izuku still felt the need to chime in. “Um, so... are you okay now, [Name]?”
“Yes! I’m as good as new,” you beamed, twirling in place for emphasis.
“I’m glad to hear that. But... what are you going to do next? You said you don’t have a place to live, right? Because your family sent you here?”
Ah. Right. Even though the emergency had been dealt with, you were still pretty royally screwed.
You nodded somberly. “Yeah. I did something to really upset them, so they told me I’m not allowed to come home until I’ve taken the time to reflect on my mistakes and mature a bit.”
“Still... a whole different world?” Izuku gaped. “That’s way too severe of a punishment, no matter what! How could your parents do that to you? What exactly did you do that made them so angry?”
You swallowed. Honestly, you were hesitant to reveal the exact reason behind your banishment. Izuku had been nothing but kind to you, but if he found out what you’d done, he might leave you behind and never look back.
“I don’t want to say,” you admitted, casting your head to the ground. “I’m sorry. Just... not right away. Maybe once you get to know me a bit better.”
Izuku looked surprised at first, but he quickly shook his head. “No, I shouldn’t have tried to pry in the first place!” he reassured. “It sounds like you’ve been through a lot already. I can’t even imagine what I would do if I was in your place... sorry for pressuring you for an answer.”
“There’s no reason to apologize. It’s only natural to be curious.”
You really were fortunate to have run into Izuku. For once, acting on your bloodthirst had proven to be the right call.
Still. You were very much in a sticky situation.
“This is incredibly shameless of me,” you started, clenching your hands into fists and swallowing your embarrassment, “but... is there any way I might be able to stay with you for a little while? As of now, you’re the only one who knows that I’m a vampire from a different world. I’m just really lost and afraid, but you’ve been so nice to me, and even helped me. Just for a little while—just long enough for me to figure out what to do next. Would that be okay...?”
Of course it wasn’t okay. You couldn’t believe that you were even daring to impose on him like this. But you weren’t lying about being scared. Just because you were strong didn’t mean that you didn’t get nervous or doubt yourself. You were only fourteen years old, apart from your family for the very first time—literally worlds apart.
You were far from perfect, and you knew that. You just hoped that Izuku might be willing to put up with you for a little longer.
“Okay.”
You blinked.
Wait... what did he just say?
It wasn’t just the fact that he’d said it. It was the way he’d said it, with little to no hesitation whatsoever.
Izuku smiled shyly. “You need help, and I’m happy that you think I might be able to lend a hand. Normally I would suggest going to the heroes for something serious like this... but your situation is definitely unique, so I can understand why you’d be scared when you don’t know anything about this place. We can figure out a solution together... a-alright?”
Tears welled up in your eyes. You couldn’t help it. He wasn’t just a good guy. He was an absolute angel.
“My hero!” you couldn’t help but cry out, throwing yourself over him and giving him a big hug. “Oh, thank you! Thank you so much! This means more to me than you’ll ever know! I promise that no matter what I have to do, I’ll find a way to repay you somehow!”
Izuku let out a noise that was somewhere in between a squeak and a gasp. He didn’t try to push you off as you squeezed your arms around him. Actually, his face was so red that it looked like he was about to start blowing steam from his ears, so you figured he was frozen stiff from shock.
At the risk of sending him into cardiac arrest, you decided you should probably pull away and give him some space.
“Sorry about that,” you apologized sheepishly. “I got a bit too excited there.”
Izuku’s cheeks were still aflush, and he was staring at you in some sort of daze. “...hero,” he mumbled.
“Hm?”
“You just... called me your hero,” he swallowed, suddenly looking as though he was about to cry tears of joy.
“Because you are,” you encouraged happily. “You’re saving me big-time!”
“It’s just... no one’s ever said that to me before. Not a single person.”
“Wow. So, I guess that makes me the first!”
“Yeah.” Izuku let out a giggle, and you could’ve sworn your heart skipped a beat. He was grinning ear-to-ear now. “You’re the first, [Name].”
Something told you that despite being banished, this world had plenty of bright moments in store for you.

I hate it here.
BakuDeku shippers having dogwater takes as usual.
The only member of the DekuSquad IzuCrew who's shown some distaste of Bakugou is Iida. And even then, it's mild at best. He criticized him one time for having his shoes on his desk (which is valid because who tf wants to look at Bakugou's nasty ass shoes?). He has never been outright rude to Bakugou. Tsu in the USJ wasn't being mean, she was making a (correct) observation about him. She hasn't said anything about him since.
Out of all the Izucrew (including Todoroki tbh because Todoroki is never actually outright nice to Bakugou despite "wanting" to be his friend), Uraraka is the nicest to Bakugou. She defended him in the light novels and never says anything bad about him. And even if she does like Izuku, she would still support anyone Izuku chose to date. Would she be mildly jealous? Probably. But she wouldn't tell him that. A big part of her character is that she isn't upfront with her feelings.
(If there's any IzuCrew member who would actually constantly voice disapproval, it would be Tokoyami. And he would be correct)
So where the fuck did this come from? Do BkDk shippers make up their own canon at this point?
Also, them disproving of Izuku and Bakugou's relationship in fics actually makes them better friends than in canon. Because despite what BkDk shippers think, Izuku and Bakugou do not have a healthy relationship. Any good friends would at the very least be mildly concerned.
And if we're regarding Todoroki, I'd say Izuku dating Bakugou could potentially be the wakeup call he needs to see that Bakugou mirrors Endeavor's behavior. Because seeing their toxic friendship is a lot different than watching their toxic romantic relationship. True, Izuku isn't Rei, and a toxic high school relationship isn't the same as a forced marriage, but I refuse to believe there wouldn't be at least a little similarity.
So yes, once again BakuDeku shippers are proving they don't know any of the characters outside of their precious Bakugou
#anti bakudeku#anti bakudeku shippers#anti bakugou katsuki#pro dekusquad#dekusquad deserves better#bkdk shippers still coping HARD after that finale huh

bnha, a hero reader with a yan who doesn’t think the reader should be a hero (world too dangerous etc etc). how would they stop reader from performing hero duties?
platonic (??) yandere All Might x reader
All Might, all the way. This man is anxious and the definition of a helicopter parent
Also, I'm getting to all my asks, so thank you so much to everyone who sent one in! <3 if you've literally ever sent me an ask or request, I promise, I see it, I'm getting to it (I don't hate you, promise)
bnha masterlist
This man is such a hypocrite. He shouldn't care this much about one person - one student.
You're old enough to make your own decisions, old enough to decide to be a hero. You're a good hero. He just-
He can't handle it.
This isn't a situation he's faced before, and he has no idea why it's different with you. Usually, he doesn't care. Hell, usually he's the one encouraging kids like you. Mirio and Izuku are prime examples of that, and Izuku was even younger than you are now when he was pushed down that path, so there's no good or even logical reason to excuse the way he's feeling now.
At first he tries to distance himself, tries to completely ignore you, convinced that will pull him out of whatever funky headspace he's in.
When that inevitably doesn't work, he ends up hovering like some damn helicopter parent, playing it off as a concerned teacher, eager to guide an impressionable youth.
It works for a while. Sort of.
People pick up on it eventually - fellow faculty, other students, you. He doesn't notice, or care, honestly. His methods, crude as they are, work, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Except, his methods aren't exactly as full proof as he thought, and that becomes glaringly obvious when you're away on an internship and word gets out a few days in that you were hospitalised after a particularly gruesome fight.
He blames himself more than anything else - probably more than he blames whatever low level villain hurt you either - something he might've discussed in therapy, if he ever actually went.
Once you return to classes, he only becomes worse. Days pass, then weeks, and he feels like he can hardly breathe when you're not within his direct line of sight. There were far too many what-ifs when he wasn't around, and, in an admittedly spur-of-the-moment decision, he snatches you off the street.
Well, snatch probably wasn't the right word. He, truthfully, just asked you to accompany him to... somewhere. Not that he remembers. He was a mess of anxiety, thinly veiled by terrible jokes and loud laughs, and none of that really even mattered anymore since you were safe now. Safe, and here, with him.
Of course, when he ran out of things to say, ways to stall, you quickly realised that dear old All Might did not, in fact, want heart-to-heart. And damn him if the fading trust and slight sliver of fear in your eyes didn't wring his heart out in his chest.
But he was doing what was best for you! You'd see that, eventually. He was doing his job, as a hero and as your mentor. He was number one for so long for a reason. He was older than you, wiser than you, and he knew what was best.
So what if you were scared for a little while? A little fear was healthy every now and then. It kept the youth respectful.
He was a hero. What good was a hero if he couldn't protect people? Especially the people he felt odd, warm, protective feelings for?
And, yeah, okay, maybe he hasn't exactly worked out all the semantics of your stay yet, but that was irrelevant! You were safe, and he'd cross those bridges when he got to them ('those bridges' being the fact that he was the top pro hero who regularly left the city, the country, for days, sometimes weeks on end - or the fact that, sooner or later, people would realise you'd disappeared off the face of the earth).
Yeah. Semantics.
The point, young one, was that you were safe! There was nothing safe about hero work. And, okay, maybe he might tell you small white lies to keep you complacent - 'this is part of the course', 'yes, of course you'll get to go home soon', 'mhm, yes, your parents know you're here, who do you think approved this?'
Lying to you is easier than telling the truth. It may make him a coward, but it makes you a fool too. You obviously don't believe him, but what would you do? How were you, a random teenage girl with an alright quirk, going to beat the number one hero? You weren't.
He handles you with the utmost care, like a puppy, or a piece of fine china. But God forbid you bring up the topic of hero work, never mind trying to escape. Sometimes he forgets his strength. And after the first time, hurting you doesn't weigh as heavily on his conscience as it used to. When he said he'd do whatever he had to, to keep you safe and by his side, he meant it. And if that means hurting you? So be it.

Explosive tendencies a slow burn fan fiction about the readers developing relationship with Katsuki Bakugo.
Chapter thirteen: You go to rescue Katsuki.
Chapter links
You arrived back at the hospital at the same time as Eijiro and Shoto. You all three looked expectingly at each other as you waited outside.
Shoto glanced at your anxious expression, "I uh- I'm not surprised by Kirishima being eager to save his friend but I'm a little surprised you came," he spoke.
"Hu?" You jumped a little startled by his comment.
"All that matters is all three of us want to try and get Bakugo back," Eijiro spoke.
"Right, well it doesn't matter how much any of us want to go if. This is all up to Yaoyorozu." Shoto reminded the two of you. Without Momo agreeing to make another tracking device to follow all this would have been for nothing.
Just then Izuku came out of the hospital to patiently join you guys. It seemed as if everyone held their breath as Momo made her way out of the hospital over to the group.
Just as Momo was about to give everyone her answer Tenya showed up as well.
You, Eijiro, and Momo stood confused as Tenya yelled at Izuku and Shoto. The fight escalated until Tenya punched Izuku, leaving the rest of you shocked at his uncharacteristic behavior.
Shoto broke up the argument by ensuring Tenya your intentions weren't to fight the villains. Momo then followed along agreeing with the plana ensuring she would prevent any combat with villains.
With that, you all boarded a train heading to Kamino Ward where Momo's tracker had indicated the Nomu was located. Hopefully, some clues of Katsuki's whereabouts would be there too.
On the train tensions were high and the idea of turning around came up again when Shoto and Eijiro informed Izuku of what Ochaco had to say back at the hospital. Ochaco was sure Katsuki would just feel degraded having a bunch of his classmates go to rescue him.
"In any case, listen. No matter how you look at it, what we're trying to do is driven by our own egos. If you want to turn back, it's not too late," Shoto suggested.
"Speak for yourself. Maybe your ego is driving you but I'm here because I'm actually concerned about my friend being hurt! Not because I have something to prove," You barked at Shoto.
The others on the train seemed surprised by your sharp tongue.
"If I wasn't sure about this, I wouldn't have suggested it in the first place," Eijiro said.
"There's no way I can turn back now," Izuku agreed.
You all exited the train and entered Kamino Ward. Shortly after, Momo suggested your group disguise yourselves in order not to be recognized by the villains.
Momo attempted to put you in the most hideous outfit you had ever seen, then declared the one you picked out was not feasible for the mission.
"Whatever, I'm not arguing with you. This is what I'm wearing, get your ugly outfit away from me. We're wasting time arguing over this," You said angrily changing and walking out of the store. "Kirishima you look ridiculous," You laughed seeing his disguise. "Wait," You looked around the group. "You all look ridiculous," You said unable to contain your laughter.
"HEY IS THAT U.A.?!" Someone yelled from the crowd. You all froze in place before realizing the bystander was talking about the press conference on the TV.
You all watched the press conference before moving on, and you couldn't help but smile when Aziawa stood up for Bakugo. One interviewer asked about Katsuki’s potential to become a villain due to his explosive anger. Aizawa shot down this idea immediately claiming that Bakugo was working harder than anyone to become the top hero.
"Come on we better get moving," Momo suggested. The six of you left following Momo's tracker to what seemed to be an abandoned building.
Moving to the back of the building Tenya lifted Eijiro up to allow him to look inside with some night vision goggles he picked up for the trip.
Upon looking inside Eijiro exclaimed loudly then appeared frozen with fear. Inside, were several stored Nomu.
After Tenya lowered Eijiro, you all heard a giant crash coming from the front of the building followed by the sight of Mt. Lady grabbing the Nomu out of the building.
Best Jeanist, Gang Orca, and Mr. Tiger were on the scene as well.
"If the pros are here that means there's nothing for us to do here. Let's go!" Tenya exclaimed.
Just as you all agreed and were about to leave another villain appeared on the scene that left you all frozen with fear. Shortly after he appeared he had whipped out all the pros on the scene.
That was when you all heard-
"What the hell is this?!" Katsuki yelled coughing up some sludge from his mouth that seemed to have transported him to this location.
Momo grabbed on to you and Eijiro preventing you from making a move. You understood that the situation was too dangerous. You could feel this villain's aura was no joke and obviously above anything your classmates could handle. But even still, how were you supposed to stand behind this wall doing nothing while Katsuki was just a few meters away from you all? Isn't that why you had all come in the first place?
Just then you heard All Might appear and begin fighting with the villain. All Might greeted the villain as All For One. The way they spoke you understood they had fought before.
Izuku called to everyone and Tenya quickly shut him down.
"Don't even think about it!" he yelled at Izuku. However, Izuku devised a plan that allowed him, Tenya, and Eijiro to fly over the battlefield and give Katsuki an opening to escape.
Following the plan Tenya, Izuku, and Eijiro prepared to take off just as Shoto let out a towering ice wall for them to propel themselves off of.
The villains watched stunned as your classmates flew through the sky, Katsuki let out an explosion to shoot himself up and grabbed Eijiro's hand.
"They got him!" You yelled excitingly watching as the plan unfolded perfectly.
"Ok good, hurry while there distracted we have to run!" Shoto said waving for you and Momo to follow him.
You three ran until you were back in the main part of the city. A huge crowd had stopped to watch the fight between All Might and All For One being broadcast on the TV.
The conclusion of the fight left everyone stunned. All Might had taken down All For One but was then reduced to what looked like a bag of bones.
"I don't understand it either, but we should try to find the others," Shoto spoke. You and Mom agreed and shuffled through the chaotic crowd trying to meet up with the rest of your classmates. You frantically scanned the faces passing by trying to look for Katsuki.
"There they are!" Momo exclaimed pointing out your classmates in the crowd.
Before you could register what your feet were doing, you found yourself running to Katsuki and warping your arms around him bringing him to a tight hug.
Your classmates watched stunned.
"I'm fine extra, get off," He spoke but made no effort to push you off. You let go and looked away feeling a light blush tint on your cheeks.
"Uh- let's get moving back home yeah" Eijiro spoke breaking the awkwardness.
Everyone agreed and you all made your way onto the train.
The train ride home was met with stunned silence as everyone seemed to process the fight they had just witnessed between All Might and All For One.

The biggest obstacle when it comes to saving Shigaraki’s heart is Decay: If he so much as grabs someone’s hand… they’ll die. Which is a huge deal in a series that places so much emphasis on the act of a Hero holding a lost child's hand to reassure them that everything will be okay.
Shigaraki struggles with connecting to people because he’s never been able to perform even the most rudimentary of expressions for actually *connecting with other people* (such as a handshake)… it's a concept which has been shown to us time and time again in MHA. And if you are a subscriber of "AFO having given decay to Tenko" theory... this is probably the main reason as for why he gave him such a treacherous quirk that would never allow him to connect to another person.
No one has even hugged him since his mother died trying to… and she was his only family who cast aside her safety to give the love, comfort and reassurance that 5 year old Tenko needed back then.
So I think what's to come for Shigaraki is going to be about connecting with him in the way that’s been (impossible).
My theory is that Izuku could have a moment of reaching out to Shigaraki, just as Sailor Moon reached out with a hand for Sailor Galaxia to take… and in doing so, show Tomura his pure intentions to save him. I think this could be a main feature of the Izuku Midoriya Rising chapter!
This parallel works *really* well if Shigaraki is possessed by AFO at the time. The MC’s words and selflessness helping their enemy tap into the love which lives deep inside them. In Sailor Moon this dispersed the chaos in Galaxia… and in MHA it may tame AFO’s kosei/personality.
The full theory with videos can be read here!
When 407 came out, a LOT of us thought Izuku’s hand stood NO chance… even I was concerned! But I think this was actually foreshadowing a future chapter where Izuku reaches out to Shigaraki, knowing he’s risking everything to try reach into his humanity.
There’s also Yoichi’s words: “So why did you reach out to me that day, knowing full well of my ties to your enemy?” …Hori’s been cooking this theme of reaching a hand out to save those in need, no matter who they are. That everyone is a person with a human heart inside them.
So I think Shigaraki will reach out to grab onto Izuku’s outstretched hand, in a Sailor Moon-inspired moment of Tomura finally embracing the love in his heart… and this will free him of all his life’s built up pain.
One thing MHA teaches well is that pure love and compassion towards others, and the self-sacrifices made to help one’s community are the key to controlling one’s quirk. It’s the best expression of individuality in MHA. Kacchan had full mastery over his quirk by embracing love.
I think it’s enough for Shigaraki that Izuku is even *willing* to be decayed to reach into his humanity and show the compassion his mother once gave him when everything was falling apart around him. Izuku may even remind Shigaraki of Inko’s motherly warmth from the memories.
So Shigaraki will be able to control his quirk because his heart is cleansed, leaving only pure love inside. And so he won’t let Decay hurt Izuku when he grabs Izuku’s hand. Shigaraki’s soul could be truly saved by physically connecting to Izuku’s immense heart and kindness for others. No matter when or how it’s done, a handhold scene like this would be so beautiful!
MHA’s society may be incredibly broken and wrong… but the one right thing in the world is the connection between everyone’s hearts, all striving for a better future together. Their belief in hope and each other.
At the very end of her fight, Sailor Moon says that chaos "had gone into the hearts of everyone.” Because if everyone shares a little of the burden, it won’t all fall on one person’s shoulders. But, “It’s alright! The light of hope exists in their hearts also.” ✨❤️✨

† contacts : various.
❥ scenario: 'the queen's guard dog.' ❥ no triggers; not rated. ❥ i don't have any beta readers - you get what you get. ❥ this was a request ( and i couldn't pass it up bc i love a good black butler reference. )
❥ included: izuku, bakugo, kirishima, sero, hawks, dabi, shigraki, mirko.
❥ he'd feel proud above all else but he'd also feel a little embarrassed, which seems to happen pretty often. he would wonder where it came from and what it meant. was it a response to his loyalty and protectiveness over you or if you're training him.
handing off your phone to izuku to check something, you roamed off in a brief search for something to snack on. he was going to a link he'd sent you, only to pause when he saw his contact name: 'The Queen's Guard Dog ♡'. he'd blink a few times, cheeks turning a soft pink as he tilted his head. 'huh?'
'what's up, buttercup?'
he flinched as he heard your voice, locking your phone as if he'd been looking at something he shouldn't; he wasn't concerned about the fact it was your phone. 'uhm.. my name in your phone..?' he mumbled, somewhat shy to bring it up. 'do you really see me like that?'
you chuckled. 'of course i do.. always supporting me, protecting me, looking out for me, just like a loyal guard dog. where do you think 'pup' came from, love?'
izuku's eyes softened, reaching for your waist to pull you closer, face nuzzling into your stomach. 'oh.' he was hiding the blush that was darkening his features as you cooed, lightly patting his head.
'i'll always be here to do those things.. no matter what.'
❥ he would actually be so confused at first, eyebrows furrowed. he would stop himself from finding it as an insult. at no point would he openly admit it but he'd love it - he'd feel proud that you thought so highly of his ability to care for you.
bakugo was quiet as he tinkered with your phone, reading things to you as they came up; social media, texts, news. you answered or responded when it was needed, content to just be laying across his lap, staring at the ceiling as his free hand drummed softly over your ribs. one of the contact names made him raise a brow, only to scoff when he realized it was his contact name.
'what the hell does this mean?' he asked, turning your phone down to push. he would be curious but still lost.
you laughed softly at the expression. 'it means you're my protector, always looking out for me. plus, you do like to bite like a fera--'
'don't finish that.' he hissed, going back to scrolling through your phone and hiding the faint smile that wanted to form on his features. 'but.. you're damn right i am. don't expect me to start wearing a collar.'
'aw, but yo-'
'no.'
❥ eijiro would be thrilled about any nickname you gave him. especially when the name reflected his loyal nature. don't be mistaken though, he'd probably tease you about it.
kirishima had never been great at getting or remembering numbers, so he was using your phone as a contact list. he got distracted upon seeing his own number under a name he'd never seen or heard before. '"the queen's guard dog"?' he read aloud. followed by a genuine laugh. 'really?' he was practically beaming.
'what? you don't like it?' you asked, finally looking up from your book with a tilted head.
'i love it! it's so manly.. it's perfect.' he grinned, eyes bright.
you chuckled at his response, highly amused. leaning over to press a kiss to his cheek, you smiled. 'well, i always thought so. you're my rock, you know? always protecting me and stuff.'
moving from his spot, he collected your frame into a tight hug. 'i'm honored and i'll always be here to guard and protect you, my queen.'
❥ he's going to be a little shit about it. he'll recognize the meaning and sentiment behind it. it would be amusing to him, seeing as something a little silly but still cute.
as you scrolled through some random news site coverage on the latest petty crime, your phone was plucked out of your hands. 'why are you reading things like this?' he questioned, climbing over the couch and dropping his head on your lap. 'did you see what i sent you?'
'it's amusing.' you answered with a faux pout, a hand settling to pet over his hair. 'not yet. please, by all means.. share with me.'
already navigating through your phone, he couldn't help the laugh he let out upon seeing his contact name. 'wow. queen's guard dog, huh? that's new.' he mused, looking up at you, 'thinking mighty highly of yourself.'
rolling your eyes, you gently hit the top of his head. 'fine. i'll change it to something super mean, tape boy.'
'ow, hey.. no.' he was already shifting to sit up, pressing a kiss to your cheek when he noticed the small smile. 'i like it. you can always count on your faithful guard dog to watch out for you.' with a wink and a grin, he dropped back down onto your lap.
❥ he's not exactly familiar with or used to terms of endearment, so he'd be confused; he most likely wouldn't recognize it as a good thing at first. once he told himself you weren't actively making fun of him, he's be pretty touched. he'd struggle to express that, though.
having your phone, it was out of habit that he opened your messages, usually to relay something but he found himself distracted by another contact name. as he clicked on it and realized it was your conversation with him, his brow pinched together as he glanced over to you. he debated saying anything at all but it was starting to make his skin crawl.
'what's this supposed to mean?' he questioned, slightly annoyed as he held your phone screen towards you.
you looked up at the screen and smiled softly. 'what do you think it means?' you knew better than to play games with him but it wasn't malicious.
'kinda sounds like you're calling me a dog?'
you chuckled. 'maybe i am?' you mused, wrinkling your nose up at him in a playful manner, 'it means i see you as someone who protects me, someone who is.. loyal.'
his expression shifted and he seemed to relax, softening. 'hm.. just don't expect me to wear a leash.' he muttered. he wouldn't say it out loud but he appreciated it, just going back to what he was doing, never even letting you know what the message said.
❥ like tomura, he's not well versed with terms of endearments and compliments, he's going to think you're making a joke out of him. after telling himself you wouldn't do that, he'd actually take it to heart that you saw him that way.
he was bored, going through your phone while his own was charging in the corner. he was just planning on changing his name and icon in your phone but the name took him off guard. 'you expecting me to start barkin' or something?' his tone held a bit of annoyance.
you blinked a couple of times and looked over at him, eyebrow raising. 'normally, i'd be pretty good at keeping up with your weird banter but.. barking?'
'"the queen's guard dog"?'
it took a second to register what he'd said before you laughed softly. 'oh, yeah. ya'know, you're like my protector and stuff. loyal. don't expect you to bark but a collar would look pretty nice on you.'
he scoffed and tossed your phone aside on the couch before sitting up, scooting to the spot that was behind you. hunching forward, he kissed the top of your head before pressing his forehead to it. 'whatever.. guess i'll be the dog then.. you'd look better with the collar though, my name on the tag.'
'you payin'?'
he chuckled lightly, lifting his head and laying his arms on your shoulders, just propping them up. 'when i start laying gold eggs, babe.'
❥ he'd be highly amused at the term dog but he'd be flattered, wanting to live up to his newly discovered title. he'd enjoy the playful nature of it.
laying in bed with his head propped up on a couple pillows, he was going through your gallery in search of something when he came across a screenshot of a conversation with him. he chuckled at the contents but then noticed his contact name. similar to mirko's ears, his wings would twitch.
his gaze would shift past the screen when you entered the room, a hand reaching out to coax you over, something you easily followed. guiding you to sit at his waist, he turned the phone to you. 'well, wanna explain this one? 'Queen's guard dog'? .. dog?' he repeated the last word out of sheer amusement.
'what? you protect me like those big dogs - you're loyal, too. i don't know many people with guard birds.' you chuckled, lightly slapping his chest. 'it's supposed to be cute, kei.'
leaning up to peck your lips, he bumped the tips of your noses together. 'i don't know, hawks can be pretty aggressive and territorial.. buuut, i'll take the compliment. don't worry, your dog with wings has you covered.'
❥ she'd be so amused, overflowing with pride. she'd already consider herself something of a guardian to you and that would only grow stronger at seeing the name.
seated on the arm of the couch, she was helping adjust the customizations on your phone when she spotted your conversations with her. she'd brighten and chuckle, ears twitching with delight and amusement. 'Queen's guard dog, huh? i like it.'
she'd grin as she sank down onto the couch next to you, nudging you a bit. 'seems pretty fitting. except.. dog?' she chuckled, even going as far as to offer a nip to your shoulder.
you nodded, showing her a toothy smile. 'i think it's a perfect fit for you, rumi,' you cooed, nuzzling into her and returning to the book in your hand. 'should i change it to bunny?'
'naah.. i'll keep it.' wrapping her arm around your shoulders, she went silent to think about it for a second and pursed her lips. 'damn right it's perfect.'

In Lack Of Defense to Aizawa
-And to varying extents literally every other UA staff member, and basiclly anyone in any sort of authority or who just exists in MHA at all.
Something I saw recently (when I started this post, months ago, anyways) that kind of pissed me of (that I'm posting here, with no connections to where it happened, because it was on a nice fic I like and I don't want to bring crap into the comments just because I don't agree with the author's view on something) is the idea that Aizawa is... how do I put this, more excusable because he doesn't know the full story behind Izuku and Bakugou.
And... to some extent, that isn't wrong, is the thing. He doesn't know that Bakugou systematically made Izuku's life hell, so he can't be expected to react to it (you can question how he would react to it, and that's a completely fair thing to be concerned about, all things considered, though that isn't the point of all this)... but. The thing is, he can be expected to react to what he does know/see, and that's the vastly justifiable criticism of him as a teacher comes from.
Day One: Bakugou attacks Izuku for.... existing with a Quirk. And here's the thing, Aizawa does stop that, but Izuku, and most people who read the story, phrase that as, 'Aizawa stopped Bakugou! Good job Aizawa!'. That's not the right response. The right response is: Aizawa stopped Bakugou, as is his literal job; it's not something that should be acknowledged as unique or impressive. Aizawa being the only person in Izuku's life to stop Bakugou is not glowing praise for Aizawa, it's blistering condemnation for everyone else. Not letting your students try to kill each in front of you is, in fact, the bare fucking minimum.
And here's the where the problem starts: Aizawa does that... and nothing else. Good Old 'Expel 'Em All' Aizawa watches a student attack a fellow student in front of him (after, for the record, sabotaging the same student in the race by blasting him with his explosions, which... is also something that, at least, should be something discussed, if not be summarily expelled over, since being happy is expulsion worthy in Aizawa Land, or being someone that reminds him of All Might) and his response is complaining that Bakugou is making him do more work. Which. You know, is bad. He doesn't even scold Bakugou, or warn him, or do anything to punish him for this.
'You're giving me dry eye, damn it!'
Yes. Because, when one student attacks another, that is the concerning point. How it inconveniences you.
(For the record, I'll touch on all the other problems with this chunk of time, which are present but not actually on target for this post, just to be thorough: doing this test at all, when they already passed, doing it on day one, doing it, apparently, because they were excited and/or because he reminded Eraserhead of All Might, threatening to expel Izuku for daring to not having control of his Quirk, being proud he only broke one finger, not doing anything to help him stop breaking his bones, teaching his students that he'll only lie to them by his whole, 'Logical Ruse' bit, (which if anything should make his threats have less bite when he fails to follow through on them every time), and sabotaging the score when, as I've discussed before, there's no way Toru, at the very least, could outperform Izuku on a test around the physical abilities of her Quirk when her Quirk is invisibility.... a test that, for extra hypocrite points, he couldn't have passed as a student.)
Day Two: Bakugou actually tries to murder Izuku in a training exercise. And I say murder deliberately; All Might explained what would happen if he hit Izuku with his gauntlet, and doesn't even argue with that assessment, instead saying, 'He won't die if he dodges!'.
In other words, Bakugou is saying, 'He'll die if I hit him!'
The next day, after reviewing the test, Aizawa says.... 'Bakugou, stop acting like a seven year old.'
Not: we're taking away your gauntlets until you can use them responsibly. Not: killing people is wrong. Not: disobey a teacher again and I'll expel you. Not: Any form of punishment or disciplinary action for, again, an actual murder attempt.
Grow up.
...Do you see where the problem is here?
Beyond this point, there's god knows how many times Bakugou yells at and/or attacks Izuku for Reasons(TM) throughout their entire school life, none of which is actually hidden from anyone, culminating in the Final Exam where Aizawa admits they have problems working together.... which is, in itself, phrasing that puts the burden as much on Izuku as it does on Bakugou. That is, needless to say, bullshit: the problem is completely on Bakugou's side, because Izuku would be pathetically grateful to his abuser if they could work together, and he constantly does his best to make that happen, no matter how often that never actually works for him.
This phrasing fits Aizawa's 'solution', which is to pair them together for their exam against All Might, again putting the burden for Bakugou's attitude on Izuku rather than dealing with it himself, with the (again, lied about) consequences of not going with the rest of the class on their summer outing, along with probably being closer to flunking out of school. This attitude culminates, ultimately, in BvD2, where Bakugou does everything to start the fight, including launching the first blow, Izuku is defending himself, yet they are both held equally responsible.
So. In Aizawa Land, if I walk up to someone with a crowbar, start hitting them, and they hit me back so I don't crack their skull open, we're both to blame for the fight; after all, they hit me, right? Seriously. Has he arrested civilians for fighting back against people trying to rob/rape/murder them? Because under this logic? The victim is just as much to blame as the robber/rapist/murder.
Alright, so as much as these posts are generally scathing criticisms, I do strive to be somewhat fair. All of these points? All of these points apply to All Might. And to Nezu. And Midnight. And Present Mic. And Class 1A. And Class 1B. And... you know what, let me sum it up: this applies to everyone who has seen Bakugou and Izuku interact, and went, 'Aww..., they're rivals!'. Which. Is basiclly every named character with any screen time, barring maybe the original version of Best Jeanist, before he became an empty shell whose only job is to praise Bakugou.
This isn't a unique problem. This is a Bakugou Problem. This is because no one can hold Bakugou accountable for anything he does, ever, and because of his quantum characterization, Bakugou lives in a consequence free reality where he says and does one thing, and literally the entire world goes selectively blind to act like he did something else entirely. It makes him come out of every situation smelling like roses, even if he spent the entire time bathing in shit, and it makes everyone around him pay the price for him instead. I'm only focusing on Aizawa for one reason: because the fandom worships him.
People love the Kakashi replacement more than they did the original model, and unlike Bakugou this isn't contentious; Bakugou may be more popular but Eraserhead's love is far more universal.
Dadzawa, despite being blatant falsehoods, is the most common take on him, but it's not even that that sparked this rant; it's that people look at him as an actual, flawed, person who makes mistakes, but refuse to go to the next logical step on those mistakes because he's 'doing his best'.
Because he's not.
He has never done his best, because he is falling asleep in class. There is no way for me to look at this disaster, sleeping in class, threatening his students, constantly eroding their trust in his words, and think, 'he's doing his best', because he isn't.
'Doing your best' means, basiclly, you never could have done this, because of some inability, but your trying anyways. All Might is trying his best, because he doesn't know how to teach at all (now that he's done training up Izuku, anyways). He's failing, yes, but he's clearly trying.
Aizawa isn't, because he's not trying. Unlike All Might, he can teach, is the thing, he's just choosing not too. Once in a blue moon, when the school administration puts it's baleful eye on him he actually does teach; he did help Momo and Shoto, for example. Problem being, he only did it then, when he was forced to test them, instead of... any time before their exam (while still somehow missing Shoto's entire everything at the same time, which is failure on such a enormous level it's kind of impressive). Then, of course, there's his mini-me, who he took from a skinny branch of a scrub to being able to use his combat scarf proficiently in battle, an absurdly exotic weapon who having an even a basic mastery must have taken months of difficult, intensive training. If Aizawa was 'trying his best', he'd be doing that teaching... you know, at all, basiclly and not when he's being held at professional gun point, or when it's for his one favorite who isn't even in his class.
Aizawa isn't doing his best, he's doing the absolute minimum he can to keep this position.
And just... look. I get that he's tired. I get he has two full time jobs. I get that that's easily the most sympathetic emotion for basiclly everyone these days, that everyone can vibe to existential exhaustion on a soul deep level. But the thing is, every Hero teacher we've seen, period, is an actual Hero. Beyond Aizawa, the only person we see having trouble with that is All Might who is, A, a new teacher, B, canonly shit with his time management and has a long, storied history of overdoing it, and C, is missing most of his internal organs. Forget teaching, every morning the man wakes up vaguely surprised he's still alive! All Might has a great excuse for being tired and overworked. Everyone else? Everyone is also working two jobs, with Present Mic working three, and still handling it a lot better than Eraserhead is.
No one made Eraserhead come in the next day after being brutally beaten to the point where he had permanent damage and was still covered in bandages, which probably set back his recovery by weeks, realistically. No one is making him work so hard he has to take naps in class to stay functional. And yet, he's the only one who can't seem to keep that schedule up.
He chose to have two jobs, and unlike most people with two jobs, he doesn't need them; he's not being a teacher so he can get a steady paycheck and have food to eat, this is a luxury to him, a choice he's willingly making for fun, not to support himself.
What I'm saying is: if the man can't handle being both a full time hero and a full time teacher, then maybe he should stop doing both at the same time. Aizawa being tired doesn't make him a good teacher, it just makes him bad at time management.
