Dearest gentle readers:
Iâve finished Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2 and I have some thoughtsâŚ
Hereâs my honest opinion:
Itâs not good.
Iâm sorry and I donât care if itâs an unpopular opinion and, overall, I did not like it that much and Polin deserved so much better.
Overall, Part 1 was far superior. Both Polin and the sideplots. In Part 2, after Kanthony left the scene I couldnât care less about the sideplots.
If people donât like Polin, they still wonât after Part 2, and if people love them (as I do), they will be disappointed and earning for more.
I liked the love scenes (a lot) and they were good, the problem is⌠there were so few of them. And Iâm not talking about âsex scenesâ but moments where they seem to be in love and their love feels real. Because that was lacking in Episodes 7 e 8 due to the way the writters managed the angst. We got more Polin angst than love scenes in Part 2 and the way the plot dealt with things, well, it was not good. At all. And it left a sour taste in my mouth.
The leading couple didnât âfeltâ like âtheâ leading couple at all, because there was so much going on and so many romantic sideplots. For a moment I even thought they would give us a double wedding with Francesca and John đ
The angst was done terribly, if Iâm being honest. And it went on and on for 2 whole episodes, until there was no more angst because the queen was cool with Penelope being Whistledown and everything was fine but we didnât even got a decent love scene afterwards. I mean: what in the actual fu-?
Also, the angsty plot was too similar to Daphne and Simonâs in Season 1, but the diference is the viewer still felt they were in love with each other. It didnât felt the same way with Polin. We didnât need Daphmon 2.0. with Polin, we really donât.
Many things gave Polin a bad look, in my opinion:
Before the Whistledown Mess, can someone explain what the hell did Colin mean with that terrible speech about falling down of horses and being in mud at the engagement party? Whatever happen to his romantic speeches?
They made it seem as if Colin only agreed to proceed with the wedding out of duty (because mirror scene) and not because he was in love with Penelope;
R.I.P. wedding night and honeymoon (they could at least gave us some angsty almost-sex or kissing scene or something like that);
Colin accusing Penelope of âseducingâ and âtrappingâ him: excuse me, Lord Fingerton, the girl was a virgin with no idea of what she was doing and was about to marry another man, WTF are you rambling about??
Colin avoiding Penelope as she had the plague; again Daphmon 2.0. but they made it seem very one-sided with only Penelope earning for Colin (yet again);
Eloise forgiving Penelope before Colin did;
They made it seem as if Colin only forgave and accepted Penelope as Whistledown because the Queen somewhat gave her âblessingâ;
Colin was mad at Penelope because he was envious of her talent and success as a writer. What a bunch of bollocks.
So, yeah⌠the writers messed up.
Polin should have resolved the Whistledown Mess in Episode 7, before their wedding, and then Episode 8 being them dealing with Queen Charlotte, together as a couple. Also, Colin should have found out about her secret much sooner instead of being Episode 6 cliffhanger. But, no, we had to watch Benedict, yet again, shagging random characters because the showrunners refuse to give the man his own season!

This isn't something I've really done much since I started this blog but I really wanted to discuss this weekâs TGCF episode.
This is your spoiler warning!!
Heaven official's blessing season 2, episode 6 spoilers but there are also discussions of the respective scenes from volume 2 so if you haven't finished reading the novel, I'd suggest maybe not reading this post.
For context, I saw a user on twitter discuss how the donghua has been adapting Hua Cheng's display of emotions towards Xie Lian.
Source
I also saw another user discuss the difference between how the novel/audio drama and the donghua have been showing Hua Cheng expressing emotions.
(I can't share the source as the OP is now private on twitter)
While I haven't actually listened to the audio drama and I'm only on my first re-read of TGCF, these posts inspired me and I have thoughts and opinions that I need to share before I implode (one day itâll happen I swear).
The scene the posters are talking about is after hcg saves xl from the heavenly Xianle palace, where they talk about what happened at paradise manor (aka xl apologising for burning down the armoury and lying to hcg about the earth master and hcg apologising for hurting xlâs arm).
In the donghua, we see hcg very obviously upset. He appears obviously and genuinely very sad about having hurt xl, even with the whole incident having been an accident. The distress in his eyes and voice is evident and clear-cut, seeming perhaps even a bit childish. In contrast, when reading this scene in the novel, while hcg definitely comes across upset, his distress appears a bit more calm and collected and he instead truly seems like a responsible adult who made a mistake and is sincerely apologetic for it to xl.
I believe that thereâs multiple reasons why the dongua team chose to show hcgâs emotions in the way that they did. In my opinion, a reason why they couldâve chosen to do it this way is because of censorship. Now hear me out; clearly as a western fan I canât speak much on Chinese censorship as Iâm not highly knowledgable on the subject. However, Iâd like to believe that the producing team is trying to work around the censorship laws in their own way. By making hcgâs emotions a little more over-the-top and obvious, itâs a lot easier for us as the viewer, especially queer fans that might understand queer dynamics better than others, to see and pick up on the subtext of what those exaggerated emotions mean while never having to be said out loud. And yes, we could argue that for those of us who have read the novel, itâs easier to recognise those subtle moments of vulnerability even if hcgâs reaction was made as ambiguous as it is in the book, because we have a lot more context. We have to remind ourselves that Hualianâs love story is never gonna be shown in the donghua in the same as the novel and people who are new to the story won't pick up on their relationship as easily.
As someone who handât heard of TGCF until Netflix licensed the donghua in my region (in 2021 I think?), I actually highly appreciate this difference in hcgâs character in the donghua. And while I donât appreciate queerbaiting, watching season 1 made me search for the original source material and ended up with 8 very expensive books on my shelf (it took me 2 years to find volume 2 in stock somewhereâŚ. 2 YEARS because I refuse to buy from amazon). San Lang (specifically referring to hcgâs form in volume 1 or season 1) is definitely slightly more aloof and energetic than hcg in his real form, so I do believe that his adaptation in season 1 was a lot more true to the source than season 2 seems to be.
My personal opinion is that, we need to view the donghua with a little more leniency as they have limits to the scenes they will be adapting later on (if the donghua doesnât get dropped. Let us all pray together) and they have to make some things a little more obvious (but still no homo) to keep as much of the gay factor as they can without getting, you know, arrested. At the end of the day, it comes down to us what we prefer to consume and I donât think thereâs anything wrong with people preferring one over the other. It's valid to prefer hcg in the novels and it's valid to also enjoy hcg's donghua adaptation, even if he's different and not completely true to the OG material.
Now when it comes to the whole âmaking xl seem oblivious thingââŚ. The jury is still out on this one Iâm afraid. This was the final scene of the latest episode meaning, we donât actually know how theyâre gonna adapt the following scenes and this could very heavily affect the way xl reacts from here on. An adaptation is just that and like mentioned before, the donghua team has to make decisions on how to adapt things due to censorship. And at the end of the day, I think this is an interesting take on xlâs character as one of the biggest parts of his character is how he struggles to accept love and care from other people so one can argue that⌠He actually is oblivious in this scene? Especially at this point in the story considering heâs known hcg for like, a week, 2 weeks max (do not quote me on that, I havenât actually calculated, I am lazy. Point is, he hasnât known him for very long at this point in time). And while I would for sure be a bit disappointed if he still is presented like this later on in the story, weâre still too early into it to criticise the donghua over this and future scenes that havenât even been touched yet. Itâs not in any way fair to base our opinions on the upcoming scenes on a singular 2 minute clip of Hualianâs interaction.
So, I have said my peace. Please remember that everything Iâve discussed is purely my opinion and not fact, so take this post with a grain of salt. Iâd actually love to discuss this further with people so please send asks if you have anything to add!
(This is also another good post to read about the censorship stuff I talked about in this post. I like how this user phrased it.)
Once again, thank you for reading a (lengthy for once) ramble!

So I actually have a Star Wars story to tell (itâs a core memory): Echo has always been my favorite clone trooper. My family, especially my brother and I, started watching The Clone Wars during season 1 and we became mega-fans (I was 9, he was 6, literally the target demo). Every Friday weâd watch the new episodes, then Saturday weâd go to star wars dot com and watch all the behind-the-scenes content. We missed the first time âRookiesâ aired, but we saw the behind the scenes content for it, and caught it on reruns. We immediately knew Fives and Echo were our favorite clones, he picked Fives so I picked Echo. But we were so disappointed when they werenât in the rest of Season 1 or 2. But we were absolutely stoked for the series 3 premiere when we heard Fives and Echo were in it. And then they were gonna be ARC troopers? We were losing our minds. Our favorite boys, ARC troopersâ˝ Unfortunately for me, the Citadel arc happened next. Donât get me wrong, we loved seeing the Dominos in the phase 1.5 armor. But for some reason we missed the end of episode 2 of the arc (where Echo dies), and when the bts content said Echo died I was inconsolable. I refused to ever watch the ending of that episode for YEARS. When Fives kept showing up in seasons 4 and 5 (Umbara arc is like my favorite SW movie), I was always jealous that my brotherâs fave was still around and mine wasnât. Then TCW was cancelled and I thought that was the end of it.
About a year later, I heard they made half of a Season 6 but it was only on Netflix. It took me a while to figure out how to watch it (on the high seas, as my family didnât have Netflix), but I was in high school now. The first arc having Fives discover order 66 and coming this close to exposing it? Iâd been thinking about that kind of story for forever (my favorite Star Wars AUs are where order 66 didnât happen or was disobeyed). I was so excited to tell my brotherâŚuntil I saw s7e4 and Fives died. My brother was just as sad/mad as I was when Echo died. But I finished Season 6 and thought that was the endâŚuntil I went onto star wars dot com and saw that there were unfinished animations for some episodes called âthe Bad Batchâ. And thenâŚmy world became whole. ECHO WAS ALIVE!!!!! Sure it was janky af, felt dubiously canon, he had been thru hell and was now a cyborg, but MY BABY BOY! My brother was, of course, just as jealous that my clone was alive and his wasnât.
Then 4 years later. TCW Season 7 was announced. The Bad Batch arc would be in glorious HD. Echo was firmly alive and hanging out with the Bad Batch. And he got me thru lockdown, as TCW was one of my comfort shows Iâd watch and s7 was airing in April/May 2020. And the Bad Batch were gonna get their own show? Hell fucking yeah.
Here we are, 16 years after Echo first graced my small TV screen, and heâs still my fave. I see a lot of myself in him. How by-the-book he used to be and isnât anymore, how his life fundamentally changed and nowâs not exactly a man (I figured out my sexuality, gender, and disabilities in 2019 right before TCW s7 remastered Echoâs return). I would almost certainly die inside again if he dies in the TBB finale. Anyway Iâve never shared anything this personal about Star Wars with anyone and TBB tumblr definitely seems like the kind of people who want to hear this.

My thoughts on the newest helluva boss (mostly critical)
Man, usually I am in the boat of "critical, but ultimately still love it" with these season 2 eps, but Unhappy Campers might be the first I've hated.
Moxxie and Millie felt like their motivations should have flipped. Millie's need for validation came out of nowhere. She's objectively the most useful and competent member of the team and nobody has ever told her otherwise. Why would she be getting sidetracked by the compliments of some random humans? Moxxie's whole thing is loving and supporting her so Millie acting like he doesn't write more than one song about how amazing she is is really strange.
Likewise, Moxxie does need validation but his attention seeking behavior was really off. One of his strengths is he's a talented songwriter but he basically just wrote a song that went "Me me me me me?" and it just...didn't feel like him. I was watching the episode with a friend and I had so much secondhand embarrassment watching Moxxie make an ass out of himself.
I think the episode would have worked much better if their roles had been swapped. Moxxie has been the narrative's punching bag, especially this season, and it would be fun to have an episode where he is praised for once, but it goes to his head. And Millie feeling jealous, but then realizing her husband needs her support the same way he supports her, would be adorable and make sense for their first real moment of tension onscreen.
There's other ways it could have made sense too. We know very well Moxxie has daddy issues, and his need for Blitz's approval stems from the fact he's an older male authority figure. So what if there was a very fatherly camp counselor there that Moxxie wanted the approval of? In my opinion, this would make much more sense, because since when do M/M care about what humans think of them? Up until this point in the show, human characters have all been disposable meat sacks, with no traits other than dumb or violent. Not only humans, but human teens. It's just very cringeworthy to me since it's such an out of nowhere urge for these married adults to want teens to fawn over them.
Also, from the moment Moxxie said their characters were siblings, I knew it'd be an incest joke. And yeah it did happen...in the worst way possible. Is no one gonna talk about how they stripped down and banged for an audience of preteens? Yes, I get it, it's hell, the characters suck, blah blah blah but not with M/M. I could see characters like Blitzo or Verisoka doing that but M/M? Besides the pegging, I feel like the jokes always been that they're vanilla by hell standards. Moxxie got mad that Blitz watched them fuck and their whole plot in Ozzie's was about how he refused to publicly declare his lewd feelings for Millie. But...they're exhibitionists now, I guess, because this show is no longer about assassination, it's about character assassination.
(Some positives to finish off this post. I really liked Barbie Wire! Her design as a human especially. She's gorgeous and I wish we could have had more of her and Blitz. Also, the backgrounds and shading/lighting are better than ever. I'm a huge fan of the appearance of the sloth ring and the moody pink lighting it comes with. Helluva may irk me with its writing sometimes but the art blows me away enough to keep watching.)

Summer Rain: Sick in the Rain 1
Writer: Beanosei
Season: Spring
Characters: Niki
Niki: Nee-san~ Iâm just being plain dumb? Why are you calling me dumb now, too? What did I do to deserve this treatment~
Disclaimer: This chapter includes Anzu heavily as a character. She is her own character here, but it's still Niki directly addressing her as "Nee-san" in order to stick to the Enstars story format as much as possible.
Studio, 2 days afterÂ
Niki: Is this where you wanted the camera? A little to the left? Okay!
Niki: There, all moved just like how you wanted.
Niki: I donât need to help out? Oh, no no no, itâs fine. Itâs the least I can do to help, Director-san! Iâm sorry that I wasnât able to meet your expectations.
Niki: Nahaha, itâs not like I have much else to do. I can just take over a side character role if you need that.
Niki: The rest of my unit is still here, and I already called off from Cinnamon for the filming period. I might as well help out in any way I can.
Niki: Come back~? Iâm sorry Director-san, anything but that. I can cook snacks for the crew, I can help with props and such. But I really canât act. Iâve been holding the whole team back, itâs for the best~
Niki: You havenât found a replacement yet? OhâŚ
Niki: Definitely not Kohaku-chanâŚWhat about Himeru-kun? Or we can try asking someone else from the agency? Maybe Vice Pres has someone in mind?
Niki: You asked Himeru and Himeru refused? And you really donât want to have to talk with Vice Pres again? Honestly, understandable from an outsiderâs perspective, nahaha.
Niki: Vice Pres can be a little much at times, but heâs very fun once you get to know him~
Niki: Iâm your only hope? You give me too much credit, Director-san. Iâm just a chef~ If you want good food, Iâm your best hope. You donât come to me if you need a movie made~
Niki: Oh, is that your phone ringing?
Niki: I guess youâll be going back to check on the others. Donât worry, Iâm fine here! Iâll make sure this camera stays in place and doesnât budge at all~
Niki: (NahahaâŚDirector-san is understanding but still a little pushy~ As expected of an industry professional.)
Niki: (sits down in a chair, watching the filming in the distance)
Niki: (While theyâre looking for a replacement for me, the other three are filming the scenes that they can. Theyâre still working hard, way better at this than me.)
Niki: ... I wonder why Himeru-kun rejected the role?
Niki: Iâm a little glad-
Niki: (Wait- why am I glad? This movie is going nowhere without a second lead!)
Niki: UghâŚtoo much thinking. Need to get some food into my stomach ⪠Letâs see, I should have a leftover granola bar in my pocket.
Niki: Eh?
Niki: Oh right. I finished it two hours ago.
Niki: ⌠Guess Iâll just wither away and starve here until everyoneâs doneâŚthat shouldnât be that long, I hope.
Niki: ...!
Niki: (Hmm? Whatâs thatâŚdelicious yet familiar smell? Almost likeâŚthat bread that I really love~âŞ)
Niki: Ah! Nee-san, fancy seeing you here.
Niki: Are you here to check in on the filming? If Vice Pres is pushing you around dumping work on someone else when heâs supposed to be the one handling our ragtag group, feel free to complain~
Niki: Youâre here out of your own will? Really Nee-san, your arrival is too convenient to be a coincidence. Someone mustâve told you something~
Niki: Himeru-kun and Kohaku-chan? What did they tell you?
Niki: That me and Rinne-kun are being stupid and need someone to straighten us out because whatever theyâre trying isnât working? Ehhh~ Theyâre wrong Nee-san, everything is sorted out.
Niki: Ignore the fact that weâre at a standstill in all of the main scenes~ Theyâll find a more experienced replacement quickly. Theyâll be able to re-record everything and all the scenes that we missed at twice the speed compared with what we could with me as the second lead.
Niki: Oh, you have something for me?
Niki: Nee-san! I knew I smelled my favorite bread ⪠How did you know it was my favorite? Itâs not really common knowledge, and itâs a little hard to get a hand on it normally.
Niki: ... You ran into Rinne-kun over there and he told you to give it to me? OhâŚI seeâŚ
Niki: (Stares down at the bread in his hands)
Niki: He looked sad? Even while filming? HuhâŚ
Niki: But he was so excited when we startedâŚwhat changed?
Niki:?
Niki: No way, it canât be because I quit. Even Rinne-kun understood, I did it for the good of the movie!
Niki: Some of the most important things are left unsaid?
Niki: âŚNahaha, Nee-san. Youâre really saying Rinne-kun was having funâŚand enthusiasticâŚbecause I was there with him?
Niki: Youâre really giving me too much credit. Maybe he was, but that was because he had someone to pick on~
Niki: You doubt that? Geez, why is everyone saying that? Is everyone saying that I, the one who knows Rinne-kun the most, donât actually know him that well?
Niki: Not at all?
Niki: Nee-san~ Iâm just being plain dumb? Why are you calling me dumb now, too? What did I do to deserve this treatment~
Niki: Youâre joking? But you also mean it too? Nee-sanâŚ
Niki: I know that, I know that Rinne-kun cares for me. But thatâs in the same way he cares about Kohaku-chan and Himeru-kun! And how he cares about his brother, his juniors, and everyone. Heâs a very caring person, you know? He just doesnât like to show it often~
Niki: Itâs different? Very different?
Niki: Haha Nee-san, how are you so sure? I'm even starting to wonder if I really do know Rinne-kunâŚ
Niki: Youâre saying you have something else for me? Ah, whatâs this CD for? Oh, I see, thatâs why you have a laptop with you~
Niki: Eh? Nee-san, I put the CD in but itâs a blank video with just a black screen. Is this some sort of secret message or something?
Niki: Turn the volume up? Oh, it is muted. Let me do that-
Computer: âŞ
Niki: (ThisâŚsongâŚ)
Niki: (Itâs a completely different feeling⌠and the key is shifted⌠butâŚ)
Niki: (Itâs there. Itâs definitely there. This instrumental, wherever Nee-san got it fromâŚ)
Niki: (It has the melody of mine and Rinne-kunâs duo debut song. Heartbeat Honey Drop.)
Niki: (The song that we started with. The song that symbolized the beginning of our journey to chase our dreams. DreamsâŚthat we have at our hands right now, as Crazy:B.)
Niki: Nee-san, where did you get this? Do you know what itâs for? What itâsâŚfrom?
Niki: Itâs a secret where you got it from? Ehh~ Oh? Itâs the instrumental for a scene from the movie?
Niki: You donât know what itâs from? You only know that I recognized it from watching me listen to it? Haha, you could say itâs nostalgic for me. In some way.
Niki: But if itâs for the movieâŚhow on Earth did Director-san get ahold of that songâŚwe werenât popular and I doubt youâll even find anything besides Crazy:B stuff when searching us up-
Niki: (Oh.)
Niki: (Thereâs only one way this couldâve happened. The only other person that knows that melody by heart.)
Niki: (The one thatâs been there by my side this whole time. Waiting patiently, always there for me. The one that broadened my world, dragged me against my will into a world of blinding lights.)
Niki: (I didnât forget this tune, but it did fade away behind all the new things weâve experienced. But Rinne-kunâŚRinne-kun, you kept it with you this whole time, chasing after me for so many yearsâŚ)
Niki: (Nahaha, I guess everyone is right. Maybe I am a little dumb. Why else would Rinne-kun do all these things, only want to be a lead if I was the second lead, only be able to put his all in when Iâm there, somehow get the Director to repurpose a song so special to usâŚ)
Niki: Nahaha, Nee-san~ Youâre saying that Rinne-kun only looks at me in that soft way? Haha, heâs such a sap.Â
Niki: Itâs cute how loyal he is, even if it comes to the detriment of other things, nahaha.
Niki: (Sighs) It really canât be helped. Nee-san, can you tell Director-san that Iâll do it? Iâll finish the movie, play the second lead like what was originally planned.
Niki: Nee~san. Why are you smiling at me like that?
Niki: Nee-san you are so sly. You are as sly as Rinne-kun is sometimes. You planned this. You definitely planned this, knowing what would happen. I donât know with who, but you definitely had an accompliceâŚor accomplices.
Niki: Nee~san stop smiling at me like that youâre gonna make me cry~

SO I don't really keep up all that much with the DCEU so I was taken aback when watching a video essay about why the sequel films are bad when the essayist said that... the whole DCEU was ending with Aquaman 2. Like I know this 'verse has never done, like, amazingly well, and I know some of the sequels were pretty naff but...actually scrapping it? And I'm wondering why - is it really that it's flopped or is it that they wanted an MCU without being willing to put in any of the work and instead expecting Instant Billions or whatever (or is it tax reasons, like they did with Batgirl?)
Oooh, send me a link to the essay? I'll have to check that out.
So I admit I haven't paid all that much attention to the DCEU either. I gave up on following everything for that one a lot faster than I did the MCU, so I really only tune in to one of the DC movies if I hear enough about it being good after it's been out a while. It was definitely mismanaged compared to how the MCU was handled - which is funny because the Arrow-verse interconnected shows was well done and they could have leveraged the multi-verse aspect of the comics to their advantage, though it's probably for the best they didn't. The shows had their own problems with seasonal rot and using them to prop up the movies would likely have not been pulled off with any finesse or skill. (I mean, they did finally tie in the movies in the Crisis on Infinite Earths with the DCEU!Barry cameo, but that was too little too late and barely counts.)
I hadn't heard the DCEU was coming to a close, but I'm not surprised. Though the news articles I just kinda flipped through before responding here were mixed on whether the DCEU is actually ending or if there is gonna be one more Aquaman movie since the second movie apparently ends with a setup for one? (wouldn't be the first setup for another movie that never followed through though) And it may not so much be ending as it is soft rebooting. Which... since I doubt the WB execs learned anything about why the DCEU failed to achieve what the MCU managed, I can't say I have high hopes for DCEU 2.0.
Their tax games definitely contributed to the DCEU loosing fans and thus money in the long run. The Batgirl movie had a lot of interest in it from fans and, if I'm remembering correctly, it had finished filming and just had post-production left to do. So tanking it for tax reasons pissed off a lot of people and killed off a lot of goodwill towards WB's handling of the DC movies. The fact that WB/HBO are continuing to play tax games with the Road Runner cartoons continues to erode trust in the company and continuing to play those games are likely to continue destroying their fan base as more and more people lose trust in them. Until these kinds of tax shell games are made illegal, I don't really see the company admitting that these kind of short term tax benefits are hurting their long term profitability with every person who stops caring about new movies or shows announced because, well, it'll probably get canceled for tax BS anyway, right?
Their strict control of characters being allowed to appear in DCEU vs the various tv shows was ultimately harmful too. By refusing to allow a live action Batman show, we got a version of Arrow that was at times good but was still pretty clearly Bruce Wayne-lite with Oliver Queen slapped on top. And who basically became a cop in the final season; comics Ollie would be ranting in all fucks about that if he knew. (Dinah probably wondering if he'd forgotten other words exist...) Declaring Deadshot off limits too meant putting an end to the use of the suicide squad episodes, which I have no doubt backfired by making fans of the show interpretation less interested in seeing the movie version.
While I'm glad that bringing Barry Allen as the Flash into the movies didn't end up killing the show - it was already popular by the time the Justice League was announced so I suspect they at least realized killing that show would definitely be shooting themselves in the foot, a rare good decision for the DCEU - but the way interviews about the Ezra Miller version of the character are given tells me that they just... don't care about the success of the show compared to movies. And that alienated fans of the Flash show, especially down the road when a standalone Flash movie entered development and the movie related hype got louder. "Oh how wonderful Ezra is at playing Barry Allen, none could do it better." Except Grant for nine years. Ten if you count the intro episodes he had on the Arrow before the Flash started. Talking about the movies as if the show didn't exist, or matter, definitely shot them in the foot with show fans. And it didn't help that the movies were retreading stories with that version of Barry that the show had already done - Eobard murdering Nora, Flashpoint, an evil version of Barry too??? not totally clear on that one - and did so badly if the clips I've seen of the Flash movie are any indication. At the very least had the interviews regarding the movie had been respectful of the show's success, they could have drawn in a lot more viewers than the Flash movie ended up with.
Those are not the only places where the movies have caused characters to be barred from the various tv shows or where the movie PR has treated the shows (and not just arrow verse shows) like they don't exist. But they're the ones that come to mind for me first. And it generates bad feelings with fans every time it happens.
Then there's the fact that the DCEU movies were just literally difficult to watch. The MCU movies get dark, but wow. Do DCEU filmmakers know what lighting is? Do they know that lighting is important in order to see what is happening on the screen? Do they know that people watching movies like to be able to see what's happening on the screen?
The MCU has a lot of planned continuity between entries. The plots for the movies may be kinda shallow, but the fact that a lot of the movies can stand on their own despite being interconnected was a major strength for building up the fan base it has today. They don't account for every plot hole or contradiction, and it's kinda hilarious what continuity errors some of the later retcons have introduced, but ultimately there is a cohesiveness of story being told across the various movies and shows. And the shows have been very good at diving into the fallout of plot points that are left shallow in the movies. What happened to the agents burned during the Winter Solder - Agents of SHIELD handles that question really well, though being so tightly tied to the movies was as much a weakness for the show in it's early seasons as it was a strength. Daredevil and the other Defenders shows explored the fallout of the Battle of New York. And the Disney shows continue that trend of diving more in depth into various questions the movies have left us with.
The DCEU doesn't really have that. There's no real unified vision. There's a lot of big ideas but not a whole lot of follow through. The characters don't really seem to exist between movies - the Flash movie was supposed to be a few years post the Justice League movie, but Barry had done basically nothing as the Flash between the two. Diana is still mourning Steve as the love of her life in the second WW movie. Though Diana has grown more comfortable in the regular world, she hasn't really grown any as a person between the first and second movies despite the decades in between. And then sometimes the characters are more stereotypes than actual characters - Batman vs Superman was less Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent clashing over misunderstanding each other and more the concept of Batman vs Superman as argued by out of touch fanboys who don't actually like the source material. (You can tell where I stopped keeping up with the DCEU now right?) And even the extended version of Justice League has at best superficial readings of the characters because it's trying to do too much at once. While sometimes the characters do learn and grow and better themselves, if it survives to the next movie is hit or miss. Which, admittedly, is one movie sin the MCU does have in common with the DCEU.
(The things that could be said about how wildly unevenly Clint Barton was written to be... I swear he's basically a different character every time he shows up at this point, despite having the same name and actor every time.)
And the DCEU hasn't really handled it's scandals well. When actors or directors or whoever is called out on bad behavior, the company will cover for them. So while the people running the shows seemed to have learned from the #MeToo movement and ditched problematic people even when it meant changing direction with ongoing plots (Supergirl season 3) or writing out one of the main characters of a show (Hartley Sawyer being let go between seasons over uncovered past bad behavior and the subsequent decision to write out Ralph Dibny instead of recasting), but those in charge of the DCEU have routinely protected people called out for racist, misogynist, and other prejudiced behaviors. (the post Justice League racism debacle, pretty much everything to do with Ezra Miller pre-Flash movie release...)
Honestly, the TLDR here would be that the DCEU was just mismanaged every which way it turned. And while we still got gems like Aquaman, the first Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey... those were never going to be enough to save the DCEU from either getting shelved or rebooted eventually. And if we are getting a DC movie-verse reboot? Unless the problems that tanked this iteration are addressed, it's still going to fail in comparison to the MCU's ongoing successes. Because ultimately, yes, I think they wanted MCU level success without being willing to do the work to achieve it. And I don't think they'll be any more willing to do that work with a rebooted DCEU either.

Something that amuses me is the fact that Iâm not caught up on literally any of my fictional othersâ source material!Â
This is a brief study of where I left every single media (and why):Â
these are my personal experiences and i certainly donât judge anyone for not sharing them or for enjoying a plot twist/plot arc that i disliked!Â
BNHA (anime)- I watched to the end of season 4 and never picked up the next season: I was getting tired of suppressing my emotions about the whole hero/police parallel issues and just decided the fanfiction would be more fulfilling than the actual story.Â
Homestuck- I read the original webcomic to the end, but I abandoned HS2 like a hot potato and refused to touch the whole franchise for a year and a half: it was such a bitter piece of writing, mocking the fandom and erasing the progress most of the characters had made in their original arcs, and I donât know that Iâll ever fully forgive the creators for it.Â
Magic School Bus- I read most of the books when I was a kid, but I never watched the TV show! I was one of those 90s kids who didnât have cable, and Iâm not sure Iâve read ALL of the books: itâs been a while for most of them, though I do have 2 still on my bookshelfÂ
TMA- I always preferred the oneshot horror story part of The Magnus Archives, so I started to get pretty burned out around season 3, but I kept going until season 5! Season 5 tends to be less stories and more horror-themed poetry/abstract concepts, so I just didnât.... bother? But Iâm glad people who enjoyed the plot aspects seem to have liked the ending!Â
Critical Role- uhhhhh Iâll get back to this some day! Iâm thinking of starting Campaign 2 from the beginning again? The stakes just got too high and I didnât love what the group was doing, and it just got stressful instead of fun... but some early-days episodes might get me hooked again!Â
Rick and Morty- I have to consume this show at a bit of a snailâs pace because the abuse and alcoholism can really get under my skin. I just recently started Season 5 and Iâm working at it slowly.Â
(secondary F/O sources under âread moreâ so I donât flood dashboards!)Â
Black Butler- I did watch the whole anime but I was honestly more into the manga, which is still running! I read until I was caught up in 2015, but I just havenât gone back into the fandom since then, although I still lovingly stroke the spines in every bookshop: maybe I should make an effort to get the new volumes from the library!Â
Welcome To Night Vale- I listened to the first hundred episodes! Actually, the first 121, but it was more and more multi-episode arcs and I wasnât into it, so I let it go. I need to go back and catch up on my Kevin dearestâs arc though :)Â
Danganronpa- I was watching the Game Grumps playthrough and I finished the first game with them, but they were super halfhearted about the second game, so I only watched one trial, and now Iâm waiting to have enough money to buy and play games 2 and 3 for myself!Â
Mary Poppins- okay this might be an exception BUT I havenât read the original books!Â
Nightmare Before Christmas- a second exception BUT I heard terrible things about the new book so I decided not to read it! Does that count?Â
Sandman- Iâve read the comics fully, including the follow-up comics after the initial run. However, I have NOT watched the TV show: Death looks great but I canât get over how much they butchered Dream and I just canât bear to watch any of the scenes with him in it, and heâs the heart of the damn series so it doesnât feel worth itÂ
American Horror Story- I watched a few full seasons but got a bit tired with the âin your faceâ style of horror in each season, and categorically refused to watch the Coven season for âraised paganâ reasons. I watched House, Asylum, Freak Show, Cult, and Roanoke, but I really only enjoyed House and Asylum as full stories.Â
And thatâs the story of why Iâm not caught up on any of my f/oâs origin medias! Thanks for reading to the bottom, itâs something Iâm quite insecure about (like I donât love them enough if I havenât finished the original media for their sake) so I decided to write about it in a fun way!Â
#my f/os#hark i say nothing#fandom negativity#none of these are direct judgments on the media!#but it can still get kinda negative at times#thus it is tagged :)

âŚand I just finished Ducktales! Here are some semi-random notes on episodes roughly in order:
1. Okay, iâll admit I am a little sick of kidsâ shows always feeling obliged to stick a Real Santa in, but Ducktales did it perfectly. Super appreciate that they even made Santa a contemporary of Scrooge, because what could be more fitting or accurate?
2. The last Fenton episode was great, poor tiny anxious Huey. And Fenton was not faring much better but at least he had a girlfriend to show for it. Also, Mark Beaks acting like a stalker with a crush towards Gizmoduck, which is peak Beaks right there. And I loooove that Huey brought in Louie to lie for him, and didnât even think to tell him about Fenton! Lol Dewey knew because he was right there when Gizmoduck debuted, Huey figured it out quickly when Gizmoduck was in front of him fighting crime, and Louie never even had a scene with Fenton or Gizmoduck until that moment did he? L O L.
3. I am still a little bit salty that the Talespin episode didnât even mention Launchpad, but i get why now, it was all about following in the footsteps of the mentors and there really wasnât room for Launchpad. I will just politely headcanon that Stunt Pilot Molly Cunningham is friendly rivals with Launchpadâs sister. And maybe that Della got home and promptly told Launchpad he is no longer the worst pilot sheâs ever met.
4. Iâm impressed how many flashbacks they crammed into The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck! And also, Poe! I donât think even 1987 Ducktales ever gave us Person Poe. Aw how cool. I feel pretty bad for Magica with that story. Scrooge really was a bit of a dick to her, and Iâm glad thatâs the one he owned up and took responsibility for. As an Animorphs fan, you really do not want to accidentally lose a loved one in bird form. Birds have short short lives.
5. THE FINALE.
A. Definitely felt like we suddenly hit fast forward and had to cram a ton in at crazy speeds, but Ducktales pulled it off!
B. I cannot BELIEVE they crammed a gargoyles reference in there too, Frank Angones you madman. With the addition of Keith David this truly was the correct thing to watch after I finished Community s6. It was practically the same cast!
C. Impeccable division of teams, so that everybody went up against the appropriate villain, teams were logical, and banter was beautiful
D. DARKWING AND GIZMODUCK AND LAUNCHPAD. OMG. I still would like to have approximately twelve seasons worth of bantering between Darkwing and Gizmoduck, and Fenton and Drake, and all combinations in between. Launchpad is everybodyâs sidekick, EXCEPT WHEN HE PUTS ON THE GIZMO SUIT AND GETS TO SHINE. AWWWW LAUNCHPAD.
E. Okay Iâm going to ramble about Launchpad some more for just a minute here. First, Launchpadâs subconscious has been struggling to tell everyone this intel the whole time??? And without his double-o mission they would have been stuck at square one?!? HOORAY LAUNCHPAD HELPED! Also, who is the first character to say âisnât family the greatest adventure of all?â or most of it at least, thatâs right, Launchpad! He is the HEART and I love him and I am very proud of him.
F. Back to Fenton and Drake, I am now going to assume that both of my suggested scenarios happened. Fenton had a long day and said something like âugh, donât even talk to me about Gizmoduck!â, then Drake took that as his cue to start griping about Gizmoduck, and Fenton just awkwardly agreed to be polite at first, and Drake was like âhaha, yes! He clearly hates Gizmoduck too! My new buddy!â Also, I find it hilarious that Darkwing refuses to consider the possibility that Fenton is Gizmoduck, possibly because he likes Fenton too much? Which is great. I loved the classic versions getting on each otherâs nerves every which way in Tiff of the Titans, but this is an extremely lovable dynamic as well. Especially that Fenton got frustrated enough to try to just tell him. These guys are terrible at secret identities, and yet still Fenton somehow managed to have one from Drake, and from Louie. Somehow.
G. Hooray, I finally know the thing about Webby properly! And yes, there was a TON of foreshadowing and themes about nature vs nurture all over the place throughout this show, omg! Especially as other clones we have seen on the show were (usually?) exact duplicates, while there is no question that Webby is fully her own person, despite having clear streaks of Scrooge in her. Which, to be fair, also could have just come from growing up around him! I wish there was more time to get to know May and June, and I love the way Beakley just kinda⌠bluescreened and went off on her own over Webby.
H. Seeing Scrooge and Donald and Della together in action was glorious. Surely we saw it before, canât remember, buuuuut still glorious.
I. also aaaaaaaa Hueyâs woodchucking skills saving the day, the parallel with the villain coming together nicely
J. and all the kids getting to shine too!
Okay, Iâm sure I forgot a ton of important stuff as I just sat down and started rambling. Now I can look at TVTropes and the whole rest of tumblr and AO3 and everything!

Anthonyâs Stupid Daily Blog (366):Â Sat 18th Mar 2023
I tuned into the Lakers game against the Mavericks from last night and I really wish I hadn't. It was a competitive game and the Lakers were leading heading into the final minutes. It looked like the Lakers were going to win and all they needed to do was run out the clock but the Mavericks scored at the buzzer and won. I was fuming because just before this Davis was awarded two free throws and missed one of them. If heâd have scored it would have gone into extra time. This guy has fucking sucked lately. Not only does he miss crutial shots but the ball keeps slipping through his fingers and the opposing team keeps stealing it. When the towel boys go on to wipe the sweat off the court they should give Davis' hands a quick drying too, or maybe he should play with some rubber gloves. If they'd have beaten the Rockets the other night (which they should have, easily because the Rockets are in last place) and won this game the Lakers would be in eighth place but they fucked up and now they're still fighting to scrape their way into the playoffs. I was majorly pissed off this morning. Not just because the Lakers blew a sure thing although that certainly didnât help but because of the realisation that the next few weeks is going to make a real dent in my savings. As well as getting my pounds changed to dollars for my US trip Iâm going to have to pay to get the bike fixed AGAIN! Also the price of taxis to work is going to be ridiculous but I refuse to risk getting the bus because with this job being late can affect your chances of being made permanent and although there should be plenty of time for me to get to work on time if the buses where on time they often just turn up when they fucking feel like it.
After spending the morning on stow and the early afternoon delivering tubs to stations I left at 2:30 and headed to the town for Mamâs Motherâs Day meal. I booked a place called Roma in all honesty because I put off booking a place at any of the good restaurants and when I tried they were full up. So the fact that this place was one of the only ones still taking bookings on Mothers Day told me that it probably wasnât going to be that good. I was expecting paint peeling off the walls and cockroaches doing a conga line across the floor but the place was actually really nice. The pizzas Lacey and I ordered were fucking enormous as was Mamâs Lasagne and my sisters Carbonara, two courses for ÂŁ12.95 is not a bad deal at all. As the rest of us were eating our meals Luna kept saying âI WANT CHEESECAKE!â. We finally ordered her one and she refused to eat it until I challenged her to see how fast she could finish it which appealed to Luna's competitive side and she wolfed it down in less than a minute. While she waited for the rest of us to finish she watched a video on my sisters phone of something on YouTube that's just called "The Dolls" and it's basically a little girl filming herself playing with dolls and doing all the voices. I put up with this shit for a little bit when I'd watch Luna but I've put my foot down on having this on in the house and insist that she watch something else because while this show started out really layered and delicately written I think it really went downhill after season three. I paid for the whole meal because my sister is a mother now too and this is a day for her to be spoiled as well and also because I'm lovely.

Please could you write one with Grealish where youâre a Chelsea fan so refuse to wear a Villa shirt with his name on, and for bants Mount gets you a Chelsea shirt with his name and Jack gets all pouty?
omg I love this idea!! gets very smutty at the end ;) enjoy!
Villa Boy
A love for Chelsea had been something you adapted and grew to into as a young girl. Your dad was never entirely sure how to bond with his only daughter and your mother told him just to include you in what he loved. And so came your season pass with a little lanyard that still hung proudly in your childhood room right next to a shirt mounted in a glass photo frame with Frank Lampard's signature scrawled along the eight on the back.
It was actually how you met Jack in the first place, which is the only one single reason that he has for liking your club affiliation. Otherwise, it was one of the most annoying things in his world. It was often a source of teasing and taunting, you saying your team was better than his and him swaggering home and gloating for weeks when Aston Villa take a win over Chelsea. It was the bane of his life that he couldn't get you into that claret and blue. Not even to sleep in or wear around the house, you just would not dare put it on.
"I would feel my dad's shame emanate through the walls, maybe it would kill him. And then I'd lose every morsel of self respect I have, so not a chance." You'd snort, not even giving him a window for more persuasion.
His England shirt? that was fair game. You'd wear that with pride, to the shops, round the house, walking the dog and especially at his games but there was just absolutely no chance of getting you into his Villa shirt.
Though Jack may never admit it, it was one of his biggest wants. Seeing you in his England short was nothing short revolutionary - he'd said. It only made him want to see you in the Villa shirt more. That was his childhood club, getting to captain that was one of his biggest achievements and while he knew you were absolutely proud of him. You were the most proud and encouraging person in his life and there were no ifs buts or maybes in that.
But my god he knew you'd look fit in that claret and blue.
No matter how much it annoyed him, he wouldn't get you out of the darker blue home jersey of your favourite club no matter what he did. It was something he had come to accept over the course of your relationship, it was by and large fine.
Until that jersey said someone else's name across the back.
"Awh come on!" He yelps, mouth dropped open as you emerge into the kitchen with your toothbrush hanging out your mouth and only one shoe on. Jack knows you slept in because he switched off your alarm last night in hopes you'd miss the game, but Jack dropped a bowl when he tripped over the dog and woke you up anyway.
You going to the Villa v Chelsea game in a Chelsea shirt was bad enough, but now he's just clocked something that's sent his mind firing a mile a minute.
MOUNT
19
Not a fucking chance.
"Oi, you!" He calls out, throwing himself off the chair at the kitchen island, his feet fumbling over one another to get after you as quickly as possible. "What's up, Jack?" You hum innocently, a sweet smile playing on your lips as you stand in the doorway shoving on your other shoe. "Is something the matter?"
Jack gawks, opening and closing his mouth awaiting words to find his frazzled brain. "Yes!" He squeaks, a tone you'd never heard from a man before, let along your very deep voiced man. "There's no way that you're- what are you doing? Come back." He groans, his feet shuffling after you as you walk back through the house to find your car keys. "We're going to be late if you don't hurry up." You note sweetly, Jack drops his jaw. "We're not going anywhere until-"
"Hi Mason, yeah I got it. Fits like glove actually. Yeah, we're just leaving now. I'll meet you in the car park."
Jack's face was literally priceless. His agape, eye's wild, brows furrowed. A pout settles itself firmly into his lips the second he sits in the car with his arms folded over his chest like a toddler. You have to physically stifle a laugh at him as you beam the entire drive to Villa Park.
"M' gonna burn that." He states. You cast him a glance out the corner of your eye as you pull into the players parking. A snigger escapes despite your very best efforts and Jack resumes his frontward glare at the dashboard with his lips in a firm line. "Gonna win this game, burn that shirt and knock Mount flat."
You know he's not being serious about Mason. He's very fond of the player when they're on the same side. But you had become very close friends with him through the mutual love for the club he plays at and Jack absolutely despised that. He wasn't the kind to be bothered by your friends even to a moderate degree and even here he trusted you, he just fucking hated the concept of another club and another mans name over your back. It ticked him right off.
You know this very well. You knew what you were getting into the second Mason handed you that dark blue shirt. It was all fun and games really. You loved the club but you only wore the Mount shirt to get under Jack's skin. You thought it might even throw off his game a little.
The second he stormed onto the pitch and scored a goal 5 minutes into the game, you figured that might not be the case.
Every opportunity, every goal, every opening and every single tackle, Jack turned to you. He turned to you with fire in those brown eyes, sending you a cheeky wink. His passion, the very serious look etched onto his features and the way he was looking at you was fuelling a very different kind of fire in you.
Jack played the whole 90 minutes and he took Mason Mount down at every single given opportunity in a careful way that just evaded him getting a yellow card. He finished hot, sweaty and with a man of the match trophy for 2 goals and one assist with a majority of the game spent with the ball at his feet.
The 3 nil win should have been a lot more disappointing that it was, but he just looked so fucking good. The sweat stuck his hair to his temples, his muscles tight and protruding through exertion as he walks off the field after shaking every hand.
You're standing just outside the tunnel with Mason and John McGinn standing with you, talking about the match mostly. John makes a joke about you wearing that top more often, seems to be a good luck charm for Villa even if it's the opposing team. Mason scoffs and says; "More like an angry boyfriend wants to murder me charm."
That's when Jack appears and John barely gets his mouth open to greet him before Jack shoulders through the two footballers. His mouth finds your immediately. Hot, passionate, fiery and filled with his dominance.
He pulls back and grabs onto your hand tightly with his back to the two midfielders. Jack twists his body round with a daggering glare.
"Nobody," Jack growls, "fucks around with girl."
His tone, deep and gravelly, only serves to dampen your panties further in a way that makes your clench your legs together.
Jack's done with pouting, the teasing can resume later. For now, he's dragging you by the hand to a darkened conference room. Hiking you up his body before setting you on the table that sits at a miraculously perfect height that places you right against his bulge.
He wastes no time whatsoever ripping down your leggings and panties, his fingers finding you immediately to swirl pressured motions around your sensitive clit. "Ahh, who's got you moaning like that baby?" He rumbles, words vibrating through your lips.
"You Jack, oh god, you!" You pant as his fingers leave you feeling empty and needy. Jack easily tugs down his shorts and pulls himself out of his boxers to line up with your entrance. His victory sex is hot always, but usually there was a dry spell after a Villa v Chelsea game, so it had never been this hot.
"And who am I?" He grunts, pushing himself into you to hear your shuddering squeak of pleasure. He lays you down over the table, hands following you under your shirt to carefully and tentatively swirl his fingers over your nipples from under your bra. "Oh god, Jack," you move your hands to the hem of the blue shirt to lift it over your head, but Jack's hands stop them before you have the chance.
"No, no, no," he chastises with a smirk, "Want to fuck you in their colours," He continues to thrust roughly into you with each heavy breath, mouth and squeak that escapes you only spurring him on. "Want to fuck you with his name on your back, baby. Remind you who you belong to."
You shudder in pleasure with the feeling of his lips attaching to your neck, letting out a shaky, heavy breath as he snakes a hand down between you to swirl those circles around your more pleasureful spot once again. He knows the intricate details of your body better than any man ever has and he always ensures he uses it to his advantage, but nothing like today. His lips on the sweet spot of your neck, hitting and stretching you perfect between your legs with masterful work of his fingers pushing you closer and closer with each second that passed.
"Fuck , I'm so close-"
"Who's making you feel so good, baby?" He pants, skin slapping and heavy breathing echoing around the room. "You, Jack. You!"
"Not a Chelsea boy eh?" He grunts, teeth nibbling down over your collarbone. "Not a Chelsea boy baby is it?" He reiterates, pairing the movements of his hand only until you snap open your eyes again, "No Jack, it's all you. not a- oh god!"
Jack breathes a chuckle into your ear with an appreciative hum to follow.
"Yeah, Villa Captain isn't it? You're screaming out for a Villa boy, ain't ya?" He coaxes, edging you further and further as he speeds up to a pace he's never quite hit you with before. The adrenaline of the match, the irritation of that blue jersey and the passion for the win colliding to give him an energy he's never yet had. Watching your eyes roll beneath him wearing that stupid blue entices him on, only makes him want to pleasure you more if even possible. "Yes! Yes, I am, oh god just don't stop."
"Go on then," he encourages, voice deep in your ear. "Come undone for the Villa Captain baby."
He didn't have to tell you twice, that was for sure. The sight of your eyes fluttering, the feeling of you clenching around him with a steam of, "Fuck yes Jack!" sends him tumbling over the edge of his orgasm right after you, a strangle cry out of your name as it wracks through him.
When he lays down beside you in the table that very surpassingly withstood the pace of your antics, you're both breathless and shining with sweat. Your legs feel like jelly as you still throb from the pleasure. Jack turns his head to you with a lazy smirk, brushing some hair off your forehead as you turn to look at him.
"Well, I certainly do love a Villa boy."

Goodbye
Daniel Sousa x Peggy Carter
Masterlist - Join My Taglist!
Written for day three of Peggysous Week, hosted by @peggysousweekâ !
Fandom: Marvel
Day Three Prompts: Between Seasons, âBe safe, alright?â, Rose Roberts, Mutual Pining, Surprise
Summary: It's Daniel's last day at the SSR. This is the moment between seasons 1 and 2 when he packs up his things and leaves the New York office to start over in LA.
Word Count:Â 1,380
Category: Angst, tiny bit of Fluff?
Putting work into an AI program without permission is illegal. You do not have my permission. Do not do it.
Peggy sighed as she walked the last block to the entrance of the New York SSR. She had mountains of work waiting for her on his desk, so she'd decided to come in early to get started on it.
As if the piles of papers weren't enough to make the day daunting, today was also Daniel's official last day in New York. He'd accepted a fantastic new job as the Chief of the SSR LA branch, which obviously included him moving to LA. Peggy had been trying to be happy for him, and she was, really. She just also hated losing him.
She sighed as she stepped into the elevator, hitting the same button she always did. Her daily routine wouldn't change at all, but she still dreaded tomorrow, when she'd have to go through that routine without the bright spot of Daniel Sousa.
Peggy stepped out of the elevator to find Rose sitting alone in the fake telephone operator room that served as a front for the SSR. Rose would be leaving for the West Coast too, but not for another week. Peggy planned to appreciate every second of time with her until then.
Peggy gave Rose a smile as she stopped in front of the fake wall. Rose returned with a knowing smile of her own before buzzing Peggy through the entrance.
No one else would be in the office this early, which was exactly what Peggy wanted. She'd have time to prepare and collect herself for this last day of having Daniel around, so she could properly appreciate it and celebrate his new job instead of lamenting it.
Even though no one was around, Peggy forced herself to keep her head high and her shoulders back as she marched into the office. She came to a stumbling stop, however, when she got to the bullpen and found she wasn't alone.
Daniel stood behind his desk, a mostly-full box of his things on top of it. He'd frozen mid-move while adding a file to the box, staring at Peggy with the same shock and slight horror that Peggy knew must be on her own face.
"Daniel? What are you doing here?" Peggy managed to ask.
"Uh..." Daniel glanced down at the box on his desk, a guilty expression on his face. It didn't take long for Peggy to put the pieces together.
"Were you planning on leaving before anyone else got in today?"
Daniel cleared his throat and finally dropped the file he'd been holding into the box. He looked like all he wanted was to disappear on the spot, but he straightened and answered nonetheless.
"Yeah, uh... Thompson and I talked about it yesterday. We thought it might be for the best."
"Daniel, how on Earth would this be for the best?" Peggy demanded. She could feel her temper rising, so she took a few deep breaths as she walked towards Daniel to keep it under control.
"Well, instead of making a big scene at the end of work, I can just get my things and head out now. Maybe say bye to a few people on the way out."
"You look like you're almost finished."
"Yeah, I am."
"I came in early to get work done, I'm usually not here for at least another hour. Were you really planning to leave without saying goodbye to me?"
Daniel grimaced and looked away, but Peggy refused to back down. She watched him the whole time as he put one last thing in his box and then put the lid on top. Finally, he looked at her again, regret shining in his eyes.
"I thought it'd be easier, Peggy."
"Why?" asked Peggy, her voice rising as her temper began to slip its leash. "Because you think I'd cause a scene? That I'd get too emotional to see you go? I'm sure you and Thompson discussed that at length-"
"Easier for me, Peggy," Daniel cut in. "It'd be easier for me without some big, final goodbye at the end of my last day. To be honest, I didn't really want to go through all that."
Peggy sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "I'm sorry, Daniel. I know you're better than that, and you're nothing like Thompson. I shouldn't have snapped at you. I just... I'm really going to miss you."
Daniel huffed a breathy laugh, a sad smile rising to his face.
"Peggy, come on. You think a big, final goodbye is gonna be hard for me with any of the bozos in this office that aren't you? The only one that'd come close is Rose, and she's coming with me."
They shared a small laugh, hearts breaking beneath it, and Daniel continued.
"I'm gonna hate not seeing you sitting two desks behind me every day, Peggy. I'm gonna-" Daniel stopped himself as he felt the wave of emotions threatening to drag him under. He took a deep breath and tried again. "I'm gonna miss you. A lot."
Peggy gave him a small smile as she walked around to his side of the desk and perched on it.
"I've been trying so hard to be happy for you, since this is such a wonderful opportunity for you, but... I must admit I wish you were staying here."
Daniel grimaced like he'd been physically punched in the gut. It had taken almost all of his strength and resolve to make the decision to leave in the first place; he couldn't back out now, especially not over the person he was trying to get space from.
"I can't, Peggy. This is a great opportunity for... for a lot of things. I think it's time for the next phase in my life."
He met her eyes as he said it, and she could see the sadness in his eyes. But it wasn't her place to comment on it, or to tell him not to go.
"Well, then I wish you all the best, Daniel," she said, forcing a smile onto her face. They held each other's stares for a few charged beats, until Peggy finally looked away. She cleared her throat and took a few steps towards her own desk, away from Daniel. "Just... Be safe, alright? I can't watch your back from across the country."
"Me? I'll be fine, I'm taking Rose," said Daniel. "I need you to promise you'll be careful. You're gonna have Thompson watching your back over here."
Peggy snorted, and it made the smile on Daniel's face feel a little more real.
"You know, Rose and I made a bet on how long it'll take you and Thompson to kill each other," he continued.
"Really?" asked Peggy, forcing lightness into her tone and smile even as she felt her heart breaking. "And how long do you each have me lasting?"
"Rose says two months, I say three weeks. We're both agreed that you're gonna take Thompson out though, not the other way around."
"I should hope so!" She smiled, but it fell from her face as she came to a stop behind her desk. "So... is this it then?"
Daniel sighed and ran a hand through his hair as the smile fell from his face, too.
"Yeah, this is it. This is my last box and then... I'm outta here."
"Well, I promise I won't tell the others how little you cared about saying goodbye to them."
"I appreciate it. I don't want to be persona non grata if I ever have to come back here for something."
They exchanged awkward smiles that quickly disappeared. Peggy couldn't bring herself to say anything, and even if she could, she had no idea what she'd say. They held each others' stares for a few more long moments until finally, Daniel looked away.
"Well," he said, picking up his box before turning to look back at Peggy one last time. "I'll see you around, Peggy."
"I'll... see you around, Daniel."
Daniel nodded, then turned to walk out of the bullpen for possibly the last time. Peggy watched him the whole time, trying to burn the memory of every step into her brain as he walked out of her life, possibly for the last time.
Daniel didn't look back.

Adrenaline
A/N:Â This one wasnât a requested but I absolutely loved writing this one. I got the idea from a tiktok, the girl was listening to the song called Fallinâ by Why Donât We for 3 hours straight. It made me listen to the song and it reminded me of Charlie for some reason which lead to the creation of this fic! To those who have request imagines know I have seen them and will get to them, I got caught up in this fic and another one for Owen, but I promise Iâm going to get them out as fast as I can! I really hope you guys enjoy this one, I really love it! xoxo
Warnings: Few curse words.
______________________________________________
Here you are again, caught up in the moment not thinking twice. Your sandwiched between the wall and Charlie, your hand tangled in his hair, his under your thighs, and your lips moving fast and passionately against one another.
The adrenaline rushing through your veins, everything frozen except the two of you in that small corridor, hiding from everyone else.
You see this whole thing with Charlie started about a month ago, you had no idea how it started or where it would lead but here you are again, melting into his touch. Even though you always tell yourself that one was the last time when heâs finished with you.
You and Charlie were just two close friends for the longest time. You were hired to work on season two of Julie and The Phantoms as an intern for Soyon. You always loved fashion and wanted to do costume work on sets so this was your opportunity and you werenât going to let anything get in the way of that. You jumped on the first plane you could get and made your way to Vancouver, Canada. Your three bags in tow, carrying everything you owned.
Kenny and producers had arranged for an apartment for you but it wouldnât be available until three weeks after you arrived. They underestimated your ability to pack quickly and find a ticket out almost immediately. The only apartment having three bedrooms being Owen and Charlieâs, which they were kind enough to let you use at Kennyâs request.
It all started out so innocent, you and the boys immediately had a connection. You and Owen sharing a similar humor and personality. Charlie and you sharing the same love for nature and love for adrenaline.
You and Charlie quickly started going on adventures with one another. You started exploring the city and the nature surrounding it. Charlie being Canadian came in handy as he was familiar with the hiking trails that surrounded you guys. Â
One day he came up to you, about two days before you were finally moving into your own apartment. He told you that he found a new hiking trail with a bridge and on that bridge you could bungee jump off of it. You agreed immediately with no hesitation. Thatâs the day that changed the dynamic of your friendship.
You felt the adrenaline pumping through your body as you stood at the edge of the bridge. Charlieâs hand in yours, a bright smile on his face.
âYou ready?â He leans over and asks you as you start to hear the countdown for the jump.
âReady as Iâll ever be.â You tell him back with a similar smile on your face. Hearing the faint count of 3, 2, 1.
Thatâs when you jumped. Yours and Charlieâs yelling drowning out any other noises. You bounce up and down a few times, laughter leaving the both of you.
As you come to slow down, laughter still erupting from the both of you, Charlieâs eye lock in on yours. His laughter slowly dies down as he stares through what feels like your soul. Before you knew it or could ask him whatâs up, you felt his lips on yours. That familiar feeling of adrenaline pumping through your veins. You immediately reciprocate the kiss back.
Thatâs when it all changed. From that day on it was you and Charlie. Anytime you guys could find, his body was on yours and you couldnât get enough of each other. On set he would pull you into empty closets, sets that werenât in use, and every-time that adrenaline would come back pumping through the both of you.
You two had agreed to keep it a secret, it was a part of the fun. Knowing you could get caught. You also agreed that it was just physical nothing else. You never planned for the feelings to come with it, but of course like any story they did. Now here you are a month later telling yourself this was the last time; you wouldnât let it happen again.
But your hearts beating fast and you canât help but think why do I love this feeling?
Voices and steps break you out of your thoughts. Charlieâs lips and hands on you, making you feel more vulnerable. Your quick to detach your lips and body from his. That fire feeling fading away in the both of you. He gives you a confused look.
âPeople are coming Char.â You tell him, you grab his hand to pull him around the corner and out of the now occupied hallway. Your back in the parking lot of the set.
âThat was a close one Y/N.â He says with a laugh.
âYa a close one.â You tell him trailing off, beginning to get lost in your thoughts again. Charlie notices but doesnât say anything, he had to get back to set to film in Julies garage.
âWell I guess I will see you after weâre done here. Meet you at my car tonight?â He asks you. You reach out to fix the beanie placed on his head, the stylist coming out in you. You start to fiddle with the sleeveless tank on him, trying to make it perfect so no one has an idea of what was just going on.
He laughs at your fiddling hands, grabbing onto them and pulling them away from his body.
âItâs fine they wonât know.â As much as you donât want to admit it, Charlie knows you like the back of his hand and knows what youâre thinking even if you donât say it out loud. He places a kiss to your forehead before heâs skipping off to set, sending you a wink before heâs gone. Heat rushes to your cheeks at his actions.
Then youâre left alone standing in the middle of the parking lot looking dazed. Savannah rounding the corner, laughing at the scene in front of her as you come into focus.
âLittle sneak away fun with Charlie again?â She says sneaking up on you with a laugh at the look on your face.
âWhat? No? I donât know what youâre talking about.â You tell her. She smirks at your words.
âCome on Y/N, you donât think Iâve caught on? You two always disappearing and coming back together. You staying late when you donât have too and leaving with him. Plus weâre best friends you donât think Iâve noticed the way you two look at each other? Itâs practically heart eyes from both ends.â She tells you, in a serious tone.
âFine. Youâre right but I donât want to talk about it here.â She nods at your words, agreeing with you.
âMy trailer?â She asks you; you follow her as she walks towards it.
Thatâs when you empty out all your thoughts and feelings to her. You didnât realize how much you had been keeping in the last month. You told her how it started, the deal you guys made, and your feelings for him. And by the end of your story and all your confessions, all she had to say was,
âI think you should tell him how you feel.â
Did she not hear what you just said? How you guys agreed that this was a no feelings deal, it was for the purpose of pleasure and the two of yours addiction to adrenaline.
âI think you missed the point there Sav. I canât, I donât want to ruin our friendship. I would rather end it and keep our friendship than ruin it all.â
âYour delusional if you think he doesnât like you back, you donât see the way he looks at you. Everyone else does though.â She tells you and places a hand on your shoulder.
âYou should think about it at least.â
âOkay, I will.â You tell her. I donât think either of you believing your words. Your eyes travel to look at the clock. It read 8:02, you were late meeting Charlie.
âOh, I got to go. Thanks for the talk Sav, I appreciate it.â You tell her and pull her into a hug.
You make your away around the parking lot pretty quickly, looking to see the mop of brown hair that you really have come to love. You spot him next to the orange car, he refused to admit was a weird color. Your eyes land on him and then quickly to the figure standing in front of him with her hands on his arm laughing.
You stop dead in your tracks, your heart dropping into your stomach. Your throat tightening at the scene, hands sweaty and shaking by your sides. You donât want to feel like this, you know you two promised each other that what you had was nothing. He was allowed to look and talk to other girls, but you canât shake the feeling in your stomach.
Charlie looks up and notices you standing back just looking at the scene in front of you. Â A smile makes its way onto his face at the sight of you. He quickly moves to the side of the girl, gently pushing her away, and is walking towards you.
âHey Y/N, ready to go?â He asks you, stopping once he is in front of you. He grabs your hand but you quickly slip yours out of his. He frowns at your action but quickly composes himself.
He places his hand on your lower back and walks you to the car, opening the passenger door for you. You slide in, awkwardly smiling at the girl just standing there watching the interaction between the two of you.
âWell it was nice meeting you Josie, see you around.â He tells her, sending her a quick wave before he jumps  into the driverâs seat of the car and starts the engine. Not looking back at her once.
The two of you sit in silence, you consumed in your thoughts and him just confused by your actions. He tries to place his hand on your thigh but you move it out of reach. Another frown makes his way onto his face.
He makes the drive to your apartment, you agreed to go there tonight because Owen had an early day and would be at the boys apartment. He was already suspicious of the two of you so Charlie didnât want to risk trying to sneak you in.
You quickly unbuckle your seat belt and hop out of the car. You keep a quick pace as you make your way into your apartment building. Charlie has to jog to catch up with you, seriously confused at your actions. He doesnât know why youâre acting like this.
As you make your way into your apartment opening the door, Charlie takes the advantage of the moment and presses his body against yours. His lips finding their way onto your neck, trailing kisses up and down them. You freeze at the contact of him against you, basking in the pleasure for a second.
Your thoughts catch up with you and you move fast to get your body away from his. He stumbles at the loss of contact. He tries to reach for you again, the third time that night and you slip out of it again.
Charlie starts to feel frustrated at your actions, not knowing why youâre acting that way and starting to get nervous he did something wrong.
He goes to stand in front of  but you quickly make your way around him and into the kitchen. Heâs right on your heel though.
âOkay Y/N what gives? Why are you acting so weird? We were fine earlier so what happened?â He asks you and you can hear the frustration and confusion laced in his tone.
You shake your head, trying to brush it off.
âNothing, everythingâs fine.â You tell him, pouring water into a cup. He takes it out of your hand and places it besides you. He has you turn to face him. The two of you are chest to chest, his arms placed on both sides of you so you canât escape him or avoid eye contact.
He leans into kiss you but you turn your head fast, his lips making contact with your cheek. The frustration Charlie feels starts to boil over.
âEverythingâs fine? Are you sure about that Y/N you wonât look at me or let me touch you!! What is going on?â He asks you, slightly yelling at this point.
You shove him off of you and walk past him. You donât want to do this with him, not now. Well never really but at some point, you knew you would have too.
You lean your head against your fridge, letting out a sigh before you turn to look back at him.
âI canât do this anymore Char, weâve got to stop whatever this is between us.â His face falls at your words.
âWhat do you mean you canât do this anymore? I thought we were having fun, just this morning it was fine...â He says slowly taking a step towards you. You put your hand up to stop him from walking closer.
âI know, but the more I think about it the more I need to stop it. Neither of us knew where this would lead when we started it and I just canât do it anymore.â You let out with a sigh. Charlie feels sadness overcome him; his heart feels like itâs breaking a little bit.
Little did you know how Charlie was feeling. He never wanted to make the deal of keeping it just physical, but he agreed with you not wanting to ruin your friendship or stop what was happening between the two of you. He was just happy that he was getting a piece of you to himself. Charlie had fallen for you pretty much the second he saw you and heard your laugh.
âThat doesnât feel like a real reason Y/N, just an excuse. If you give me the real reason then fine, weâll end this and we will just go back to being just friends. But I need a reason not an excuse before I leave.â He tells you, sounding desperate.
You donât want to tell him the real reason. You donât want to ruin the friendship you two have. It wouldnât be the same if you told him, you two couldnât just go back to being two friends if he knew your real feelings.
âThat is the real reason Charlie.â You tell him, dropping your hand and looking down at your feet. You couldnât handle his stare anymore.
You watch his feet walk towards you. His hand being placed under your chin, forcing you to look up at him.
âThatâs bullshit and you know it. Please just tell me.â He says just above a whisper, he no longer feels upset. Heâs just sad.
You just sigh. You didnât know what to do, the look on his face breaks your heart. You didnât want to hurt him or make him sad and you canât understand why this is doing that to him. You can feel the frustration boiling up in you.
You shove him off of you. You start pacing around your island.
âTell you Charlie! You really want to know why?â This time youâre the one yelling. You canât help but feel frustrated at your feelings and confusion. All he does is nod yes.
âBecause Charlie! You make me reckless! The feeling of you and I together makes me reckless! Iâve been putting my job on the line to sneak around with you, Iâm lying to my friends about what Iâm doing when I am with you. Iâm lying to myself and you!â You tell.
âWhat does that even mean Y/N, youâre lying to me?â He asks, his voice slightly raised.
âI love you, you idiot! Iâve been lying about my feelings to the both of us! I canât do this anymore, this no feelings only physical stuff! Itâs not fair to me.â You get quieter at the end of your confession.
Silence fills the air, neither of you say a word. He is just looking at you in shock. You standing on the other side of the island, your arms placed limply on the sides of your body. You look completely defeated.
Charlie doesnât say a word just steps towards again. Again you lift your arms up, hoping to stop him. He grabs your hands.
âWould you just please let me get close to you?â He asks desperate. You let out a sigh and allow him to come closer.
He drops your hands and places his onto your cheeks, not allowing your head to fall so he could maintain eye contact with you.
âYou donât think I feel the same? Something about you makes me feel insane. I canât control myself around you, I get a rush of adrenaline anytime Iâm with you.â His confession being met with another cloud of silence.
You donât know what to say, you just keep looking at him. You can see his eyes looking at you desperately, looking around your face hoping he could understand what youâre feeling based on your features. He canât though.
âPlease say something.â He practically begs.
âI donât-, I donât know what to say...â You trail off.
âTell me you feel the same, you just admitted you loved me. Why canât you admit you want more and that you feel the same adrenaline.â He tells you.
âCharlie...â You trail off. âYou know I feel the same way about you. This whole time. Youâre like a breath of fresh air, itâs never boring with you, the more we got together the more I needed you. Iâm scared though, Iâve never felt like this before. Plus there are so many girls who you could get, why me?â
âWhy you? Because Y/N, Iâve never met someone like you. You match me on every level, your love for adventure, your humor. Youâre so sweet, you never hesitate to act in kindness rather than anything else no matter the situation. I love you. I have loved you pretty much since the minute I saw you.â He tells you. He places his forehead on yours, both of you breathing harder than usual due to the feeling of adrenaline rushing through the both of you because of your confessions.
âWill you please let me kiss you.â He asks you again the desperation laced in his words. You nod your head yes.
Thatâs when his lips meet yours, in the most passionate kiss the two of you have ever shared. His hands make their way down to your waist pulling you closer, as yours make their way up to the nape of his neck and entangling in his hair. You can feel the both of you pouring all your emotions into this kiss, letting each other know that both of your confessions are true.
You pull apart breathing heavy.
âMake me a promise, tell me that youâll stay with me.â You tell him, your insecurities getting the best of you for a moment. He smiles at you though.
âOf course baby, Iâm not scared to jump in if you want to.â He tells you, pulling you in for another kiss.
âLetâs just keep falling in love for the hell of it.â He tells you as you pull apart, his signature smirk plastered across his face, and he sends you a wink.
You laugh at his words.
âYa of course, just for the hell of it.â You laugh as you pull him back into you, placing another kiss on his lips.
You pull apart and make your way to sit on the couch to just enjoy the company of each other. He places his head in your lap, you immediately start to run your fingers through his hair as if itâs second nature. He smiles at your actions and leans into your touch more.
âI guess I have to tell Owen he was right. I owe him 10 bucks.â Charlie says breaking the silence.
âWhat do you mean you owe him 10 bucks??â You say confused.
âWell you see, Owen and I may have made a bet about me falling for you. He said the minute you walked in the door and he saw my face when I looked at you, and he knew I was falling for you. I didnât believe him.â You nod your head, encouraging him to continue the story.
âThen basically he bet me that I would  fall for you before the end of this year. I didnât think us hooking up counted since it was a secret so I wasnât gonna tell him he won. But I guess I have to now.â He says scratching the back of his neck as a nervous habit.
You laugh at his words, only Charlie would make such a bet. The adrenaline junkie and his competitiveness always getting the best of him.
âYouâre not mad?â He asks you at hearing your laughter.
âNot at all, that is such a Gillespie move.â You tell him, leaning down to place your lips on his.
You canât help but laugh at Charlieâs antics, truly he is the only person who would engage in such a thing. But thatâs just another reason why youâve fallen for the boy.
Charlie switches positions so heâs sitting next to you rather laying on top of you. He throws his arm over your shoulders and pulls you into him. You lay your head on his chest, you smile and you feel him press a kiss to your head. This is just another start to a wonderful adventure with Mr. Charlie Gillespie.

Race-Week's Mid Season Review
I mean what a start to the season we have had. I have to admit at the start of the year I was expecting Mercedes and Lewis to walk away with both titles easily and I've been pleasantly surprised to get to see the wheel to wheel battles that we have had this year.
I have to admit I have terrible memory, so I've gone back and watched all the race highlights to help me out.
Its a long post and as such it'll be under the cut, feel free to share your opinions - I'd love to hear what you think.
Top 3 Best Moments
Esteban Ocon's win in Hungary, what can I say, I'm a sucker for a first time winner and I have been following Esteban's career since GP3 and he's always massively impressed me. How he was able to stay calm with Sebastian hunting him down I'll never know, but I definitely think this will stay in my highlights of the season. He never made a mistake and that was insane.
Fernando's defensive driving in Hungary - this literally was incredible to watch, my dad and I were literally screaming at the screen and it was definitely a moment that showed that Fernando has still got it.
Sebastian Vettel's P5 at Monaco; this is way more spectacular than either of his podium drives, because he and the team absolutely nailed the strategy. This was the first race I would say since possibly even Hockenheim 2018 where we saw the old Seb back and he looked comfortable in the car and it looked like things were turning around.
Top 3 Worst Moments
The Silverstone crash, well not the crash itself but the reaction from fans and the teams afterwards. Especially the drama over the radios and the comments and blatant racism on social media. I've said it before that did not make the sport look good at all and also as fans we were robbed from what would have been an incredible battle, that likely would have lasted race long. But my main comment on this and the reason why it is top of my worst moments is the fact that the outcry afterwards was despicable and not a good look for the sport
The tyres at Baku, that just made the sport look really bad. If the tyre manufacturer can't produce a tyre or chose the right set of tyres for Baku, how could you expect them to produce suitable tyres for the rest of the season. Then with the aftermath of Pirelli refusing to take blame and instead implying that the teams weren't complying with the rules but still bringing more robust tyres later down the line. It was all a mess and we are very lucky that neither Max or Lance were seriously hurt, with such high speed failures in such dangerous places.
Daniel Ricciardo lapped by Lando Norris at Monaco, out of all the drivers that changed teams Daniel seems to be the one that has struggled the most and especially with all the media and the fans before this season saying that Daniel was going to annihilate Lando and then that happened at Monaco no less, it was definitely a rough moment.
So who has improved on points 11 races in compared to last year and who has lost out?
3 Biggest Surprises
Fernando Alonso - I think everyone was kind of expecting Fernando to not quite be his old self, I was kind of expecting to see a repeat of Michael Schumacher at Ferrari, still a really good driver but not his prime, but Nando has come in and knocked it out of the park. Bahrain (until the wrapper killed him) was so impressive, the last 2 laps at Baku was insane, the Silverstone sprint race, Hungary in general. I don't think that Fernando has a prime, the man could probably keep racing into his 50s, hes finished 8/11 races in the points and 6 of them are in a row.
Lando Norris - he has been massively over delivering this year, the McLaren package is strong but Lando has almost taken on the role that Checo used to have, where he was the midfield driver that was there if anything was to happen usually lucking out with a P4/5 or even a podium. He has massively impressed me this year, especially in Imola, Austria and Silverstone where he just got on with his race and for him to still hold 3rd in the drivers midway through the season is ridiculously impressive.
Carlos Sainz - I would say that Carlos has always been a driver that consistently delivers but in an under the radar way. I was expecting him to do well at Ferrari but he has massively exceeded my expectations, hes currently 3 points ahead of Charles and was probably the quickest to adapt to a new team (the extra testing paid off).
Top 3 Let Downs
Daniel Ricciardo - this one hurts me to write but unfortunately it's true, whenever the McLaren video on Sky Sports comes on with Daniel saying he expects podiums and wins from himself this year it hurts me. He's only been in Q3 5 times out of 11 races and in Portugal he was out in Q1. The McLaren should be easily in Q3 every week. I think Daniel may just be a slightly less adaptable driver than some of the others, he had similar issues with his first year in Renault, but I have to admit that I expected more from him this year and hopefully its just an adjustment thing and he'll be stronger in the latter half of the year.
Yuki Tsunoda; there was a lot of energy around Yuki preseason and at the start of the year, especially with him scoring points on debut, but since then there hasn't been an awful lot to back this up. He's often getting kicked out in Q1 which when the Alpha Tauri is often the 5th best car, that shouldn't happen. Tyres seem to be a big issue with him and that's a major component of F1 and as a driver who in F2 was proclaimed to have great tyre management there's a discrepancy. I don't know if Red Bull are going to be patient enough to help him develop.
Valtteri Bottas; it does pain me to say it but Valtteri has had a rough start to the season, he's currently on his greatest points deficit to Lewis, 11 races in than he has been their whole time as teammates. 5 P3 finishes and 1 P2 so far. Realistically he should be easily 3rd in the drivers and yes he's had his fair share of bad luck this season, but there's been cases where he just doesn't trust the car.

This is dark!Bucky Barnes with a likelihood off dark!Steve Rogers as well and explicit. Your media consumption is your own responsibility. Warnings have been given. DO NOT PROCEED if these matters upset you.
Summary: Your stalker gets closer.
Note: Alright, things are ramping up. As always, mind the warnings and take care of yourselves.
Thank you. Love you guys!
As always, if you can, please leave some feedback, like and reblog <3
You didn't sleep much. Shallow spurts laced with fear. Your dreams when they came were vague but horrifying. A shadow, a voice, the feeling of being watched. Always.
You were roused by a creak. You'd left your door half-open last night.Â
You sat up, the curtains drawn, and looked around. You rubbed your temple and pushed the covers away from you. You pulled down the hem of your tee and dragged your feet across the room. You elbowed the door open and stepped into the hall.
You looked around the corner into the living room. Bucky sat on the couch where youâd left him the night before. He cradled the tablet on his thigh as he yawned and flicked the screen.Â
âDid you sleep at all?â You asked, your throat dry and scratchy.Â
âYou?â He asked as he looked up. âI just sent the audio into forensics for review. We might be able to run analysis on his voice and theyâre working on tracing the call.â
âAnd what do I do?â You crossed your arms.
âWhat youâve been doing,â he set the tablet on the coffee table and stood. He stretched his arms above him, the metal plates of his left contracting as he lowered it. âAs far as we know, he has no idea about us. I came in the back and to be honest, as a civilian, you react before you think. He called you to make sure you were still here. To reassure himself that not all was lost.â
âHow do you know this? Do you deal with this often?â
âWell, no, I deal with assassins and spies more often but⌠well, I canât divulge the extent of our intelligence. I can only say that what we found sets him on par with my usual work.â
âWouldnât it be safer if I actually knew what was going on?â You prodded.
âNo, trust me. You know what you need to.â He said staunchly.
You poked the inside of your cheek with your tongue and shrugged. âYou want a coffee?â
âIf youâre making some,â he rubbed his nose as he watched you cross the room, âIâll leave before you but⌠Iâll be around.â
âLike last night?â You challenged.
âThatâs on me. I shouldnât have been so careless but the next time he calls, you wonât be alone.â
âApparently I havenât been for a while,â you said. âIf he has my number, what else does he have?â
âThink about what you have. You have me and the whole of S.H.I.E.L.D. behind you,â he reproached. âAnd let me tell you, when Iâm given a mission, I complete it.â
âI want to believe you,â you said as you took out the canister of coffee, âI really do.â
đď¸
You were distracted on your way to work. The voice lingered in your head, the words. The necklace bouncing over the collar of your coat was barely a comfort. What would Bucky do if the killer appeared right then? Could he get to your fast enough? He said heâd be close, watching, but was he closer than your stalker?
You picked a ball of lint from your glove as you ran up the station steps and onto the street. Once you were at work you could forget. Youâd be surrounded by people; co-workers, clients, and the occasional messenger. For once, the ringing phone welcomed you. You knew what awaited you on the other end; an appointment to be made or a transfer to another part of the office. Simple.
Your boss, Mr. Drousseau, was often first to the office. He was unlocking the door as you rounded the corner. He cradled a vase of flowers against him, his briefcase clutched in his hand, as he twisted the key and tried to open the door with his other arm. You rushed forward as the door threatened to fall shut again.
âHere,â you grabbed the door and he blinked at you in surprise. âI got it.â
He grunted and wrenched his key out before stepping inside. You followed as he crossed to your desk and plunked the vase down. He flicked a petal from his shoulder as he turned back to you.
âWhat are those?â You looked at the long-stemmed tulips; out of season and no doubt expensive. âIs your wife--?â
âSome carrier just handed them off,â He set his briefcase on a chair in the waiting area and took off his long jacket. âTheyâve got your name on them?â
âWhat?â You neared the desk and took the card. Your name was scrawled in slanted letters on the front. You placed your bag beside the vase and carefully opened the card. âI donât know who--â
You almost dropped the cardstock but instead closed it again. Your cheek twitched as you looked up at Drousseau and tapped the card with your fingernail.Â
âA surprise from my father,â you lied. âHe lives so far awayâŚâ
âMmm,â Drousseau nodded as he hung his jacket. âWell, next time, tell him to have them sent to you directly.â
âSure. Yeah, sorry,â you kept the card between two fingers as you unzipped your coat. âIâll send you a copy of todayâs roster.â
He grumbled as he grabbed his briefcase and jingled his keys as he went to his office door. He paused as he unlocked the door. âCoffee.â He said. âEspresso if youâre feeling particularly generous.â
You smiled at his back and let out a sigh only when his door closed behind him. He saw you as a glorified barista and didnât seem to realise that you organised the chaos of his own success. Without you, he wouldnât know which way was up. Well, he might learn that soon enough.
You slipped out of your coat and hung it. You pinched the card and shuddered as you carefully opened it again. There were no words on the inside. Only a stark, red splotch. You ran your thumb over it and the edge flaked away. It couldnât be⌠blood.Â
But what else would it be? Who else would send them?
You closed the card and crumpled it in your hand. Panic squeezed your heart and you raced to the paper shredder hidden behind the copier. You flicked the switch and fed the card into the machine. The grind of the blade echoed your stomach. You hadnât eaten that morning; you couldnât.
You looked down at the flower dangling from your neck. You spoke to it quietly. âHe sent flowers,â you felt crazy, like you were talking to yourself, âWhat does that mean?â
Your phone vibe in your bag on the desk and you stepped past your chair. You fished around for your cell and pulled it out.
âIt means heâs trying to scare you,â Buckyâs text flashed across the screen, quickly followed by another. âDonât let him. Iâm here.â
You shook your hand and didnât reply. You put your phone face down on your desk and touched your temples. You werenât sure that anyone, even Bucky, could keep you safe.
đď¸
It was only the flowers that day. You spent much of your working hours watching the door. You watched over your shoulder on your way home, convinced that every fellow pedestrian and passenger was a monster. When you got to your apartment, you locked the door and checked every inch of your apartment.Â
As you paced, your phone shook. You stared at it until it stilled and then it began again. You answered it shakily and let out a long breath as Buckyâs voice rose from the speaker.
âYouâre not responding to me. You canât do that. I need to make certain youâre safe at all times. Thatâs my job. You understand?â He chided.
âYou have the bug, donât you? You can hear everything.â You sat and fidgeted on the couch. âAnd youâre close. Youâd know if anyone⌠if anyoneâŚâ
âYes, but youâre cooperation only helps, alright?â He said. âI know youâre scared but right now heâs just playing games. Heâs trying to make you do something stupid so donât do that. Youâre doing exactly what he wants; youâre panicking.â
âI donât know what Iâm doing,â you hissed, âThatâs the point.â
âGo to your window. The one away from the street in your bedroom.â He said.
âWhat?â
âJust do it and look up a few floors.â
You sniffed and stood up. You went to your room and rounded the bed. You pulled aside the curtain and searched the brick building just across the alley. A small glint came through a window only three floors up. You heard a tap on the other end; the sound of metal on glass.
âSee. Iâm close. Youâre safe. He wonât get any closer than me. I promise.â He said.
âOh, uh,â you stepped back from the window. âOkay. I⌠thank you.â
âItâs my job,â he said, âAnd yours is to get some rest. Youâre no good exhausted. Thatâs what he wants.â
âOkay,â you mumbled.
The line clicked and you sat on the foot of your bed. You dropped your phone to the mattress and took a breath. You got up slowly and went to the bathroom. You closed the door and looked at yourself in the mirror. You unclasped the necklace and hung it from the cabinet handle to keep from losing it. You undressed blindly and let your clothes heap on the floor.
The rings of the shower curtain chimed as you pulled it open and placed the stopper in the drain. You turned the faucet until it steam and stepped into the rising flood. You stretched before you lowered yourself down into the tub. Your stiff muscles loosened and you felt the day float away.
Just a moment of peace before it would all come back. Just a moment to yourself.
đď¸
The next morning was unusually sunny though the night had been little different. Despite your fatigue, sleep was still elusive. Even when you did manage to dose, it was shallow and unsatisfying. You woke with a weight in the back of your head and finished two cups of coffee before you readied for your last day of work before the weekend.
The tulips remained on your desk. Youâd forgotten about them even with the stream of compliments on the bouquet. Youâd offered it to several coworkers but had met only with polite refusal. You sat and set yourself up as Drousseau shuffled around in his office.Â
Your first call of the day was easy enough. One of Drousseauâs oldest clients needed to be patched through. You hit transfer but before you could put the phone down, it rang again. You hit answer and gave your usual greeting.
âYou like the flowers?â The same, eerie voice as two nights before. âThey made me think of you.â
âWhat?â You breathed as you pushed yourself away from the desk and your chair rolled back until the spiral cord was taut. âWhat do you--â
âYouâre not the rose type. Youâre so sweet. So pure, baby girl.â He continued as your stomach plummeted. You looked around at the flurry of activity around you; the whir of the copier, the clacking of keys, the quiet chatter of employees. It was surreal. âSomeone like you in a world like this is made to be used.â
âI donât know what you want from me. Iâm at work. You canât call here--â Your cell vibed beside your keyboard as you tried to keep your voice down.
âI can do whatever I want, baby girl. I have done everything I want when I want⌠except you⌠no, you need to wait. It has to be the right way.â He snarled. âYes, soon. You will be ready soon.â
âPlease--â
The line went dead as your cell began to buzz incessantly. You slammed down the receiver and grabbed your mobile as it shook. You stood and looked around. No one seemed to notice your distress. You stormed off to the restroom and closed yourself in. You slid your finger across the screen and held it to your ear.
âBucky?â You croaked.
âItâs me.â He confirmed. âYou alright? That him?â
âY-yes,â you trembled as you braced the sink. âHe said⌠he said soon. Bucky, heâs going to kill me. I know it.â
âShhhh, please, take a breath.â He coaxed. âAnd count, like I showed you.â
âI canât, I canât, I canât,â you whined. âPlease, I canât do this.â
âBreathe,â he ordered, âOneâŚâ He began to count as you stared in the mirror. You nodded in time until your breaths evened out and you huffed into the phone. âGood, good. Now, you have to act like everything is alright. Stay at work. Youâre safe there.â
âAnd⌠after?â
âYou know Iâll be there. I already am, alright? I know everyone who walks through that door, honey. You trust me?â
Your lashes fluttered and you let go of the sink. âHoney.â Your mind lingered on that word but you quickly shrugged it off.
âI do,â you said, âYouâll protect me.â
âI will,â he assured you. âThis creep is no match for me.â
âYeah,â you murmured, âOkay. Iâm alright. I gotta go back.â
âAlright,â he said softly. âIâll be here.â
đď¸
When work was done, you didnât go directly to the subway. You needed to sleep and you needed to forget. There was one way to do both; alcohol. Just down the block was a liquor store. Youâd grab a bottle of wine and be on your way. A brief detour before you could hide once more in your boxlike apartment.
You crossed the street and a figure caught in the corner of your eye. You reached into your pocket and pulled out your phone as you turned down the sidewalk. You held up the cell and angled it so you could see the reflection over your shoulder. There was a man a few feet behind; he was tall but walking slowly with his head down, a hood casting shadows over his face. You slowly lowered your phone and squeezed until you thought it would break.
You neared the door of the shop. You knew he was still there. You dipped through the door and the chirp of the sensor made your flinch. You quickly flitted to the back aisle of scotch and whiskey and peered back to the front. The man in the hoodie passed the window but peered back at you as he did.
âA man,â you pulled out the necklace from beneath your jacket, âThereâs a man following me. I saw him.â
Your phone quaked and you dropped the necklace. You fumbled with your cell and pretended to browse the aged malts.Â
âI see him but I canât see his face.â Bucky said.Â
âI didnât either. What do I do?â
âStay calm. What are you even doing?â
âI was⌠gonna get some wine.â You went to the aisle of imports and scanned the shelves. âThatâs all.â
âWell, get whatever and go home. Donât worry about this creep. Iâll deal with him.â Bucky said. âHeâs probably not even our guy, just another dirtbag.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âJust buy your wine and get to the train.â He hung up bluntly and you sighed.
You grabbed a cabernet and went to the counter. You paid and hid the bottle in your bucket bag. You reluctantly pushed through the door and swiftly turned down the street. The man was behind you. You checked again with your phone, this time with your camera on. You snapped a pic over your shoulder and quickly tucked it into your sleeve.
You looked up and saw another hooded man heading towards you. You almost tripped as he passed you and recognized Buckyâs short stubble poking out. You didnât stop as a commotion rose behind you.
âWatch it,â Bucky growled. No response and you ran across the street.Â
You hurried on and stopped at the corner to look back. Bucky stood with arms crossed against the front of a convenience store and the other man was gone. He nodded and pushed himself away from the chipped brick. You turned back and raced to the subway.
Home, home, home. Just get home.
đď¸
Your apartment was already dark when you got home. The days grew shorter and shorter as the winter threatened to storm down on the city. You plopped your bottle of wine on the counter and kicked off your shoes. You hung your bag and coat from the rack and checked your phone.
âText when home.â Buckyâs message seared into your vision.
You sent your response and uncorked the bottle. You poured yourself a glass and carried it to the living room with your cell. You left them on the coffee table as you went to change. You dumped your blouse, skirt, and thick stockings into the hamper along with your bra and panties. You took the necklace off and set it on your night table.
You pulled on a pair of pajama bottoms and an old tee. You scooped up the necklace and took it with you into the front room. You hung it from the lamp beside the couch and took a gulp of wine as you searched for something to watch. The alcohol burned your hungry stomach.
A knock came at the door and you nearly choked as you set your glass down. You peered through the hole. It was Bucky. You unlocked the door and pulled it open.
âWhat are you doing here?â
âThat was pretty creepy,â he said as he stepped past you without welcome. âWanted to make sure you were okay. Iâve cased the entire building. Didnât see him around.â
âYou think he wouldâve followed me here? You said it was likely not him.â
âMaybe not but the guy was leery enough to follow you to the store,â Bucky went to the window and looked out. âYou need to tell me when you change your plans.â
âSorry, I-- It wasnât far so I thought--â
âIf youâre as scared as youâre acting, youâll get your shit together and listen to me.â He closed the blinds. âYou take a detour like that and thatâs trouble for both of us.â
He rounded the armchair and neared the coffee table. He ran a metal finger around the rim of your glass. âHope it was worth it.â
âIâm sorry,â you said again, âI didnât mean to--â
âYou need something, you tell me. Iâll take care of it.â He interrupted. âYou go anywhere, you clear it with me. Weâre not fucking around anymore.â
âBucky, IâŚâ you pouted. âI didnât--â
âLook, Iâm not mad but I have to be strict. We donât have room for mistakes.â He neared you and his face softened. âItâs for your own good, honey.â
You stared at him and reached to the collar of his jacket. He unzipped it and backed away to hang it over your own. You frowned.
âI already sent in an incident report. The Director said I should keep close watch tonight. Just in case.â
âOh,â you watched him unlace his boots. âI⌠Okay?â
âI donât mean to crowd you but better safe than sorry.â He stood.
âRight,â you sidled past him, âYou want any wine?â
âNah,â he waved you off, âStuff doesnât really do anything for me.â
You nodded and went back to the couch. You sat and hit continue watching. You picked at your fingernail anxiously. Bucky sat on the other side of the couch and groaned. He stretched his fingers and they cracked loudly.
âYou hungry? I can order something? I donât feel much like cooking.â You offered.
âIf youâre hungry,â he shrugged. âYou must be.â
You played with your phone and set it down to take another drink. âYou like Chinese?â
âSure,â he said, âWhatever you want, honey.â
You grabbed your phone and tried to hide your discomfort. Were you just rattled from the hooded creep? Paranoid because your life had turned into a murder mystery? Or was this man crossing a line?
You opened up the app and scrolled to the meal for two. You confirmed the order and put your phone on the arm of the couch. âAbout half an hour,â you said.
You looked over as Bucky reached up to the lamp and played with the necklace. He slowly retracted his hand and chuckled.
âYou know, you talk in your sleep,â he chuckled. âNecklace picks it up sometimes.â
âI do?â You wondered.
âNothing really. Doesnât really make sense.â He smirked. âBut⌠itâs kinda funny.â
âOh,â you sat back. You wanted another mouthful of wine but you were already almost done your first glass. âWeird.â
You crossed your arms and looked at the television. Everything was weird. The murders, your stalker, and even this man they sent to protect you. It was all just a little off and that scared you even more.
đď¸
When the food arrived, Bucky got up to answer the door. You ate at the coffee table and finished your second glass of wine. The alcohol helped your appetite and for the first time in days, you managed to eat more than a few bites. Bucky didnât need any help as he threw back fried rice and back ribs.
You cleaned up after and tossed the containers in the trash. You were a little tipsy as you flopped onto the couch and rated your meal on the app. Bucky filled your glass for you and returned the bottle to the kitchen before taking his place once more. You thanked him and took a sip.
âThought you werenât exactly happy about this,â you raised the glass.
âI canât blame you. Hell, if I could get anything out of it, Iâd have a glass of my own.â He mused. âSo, the phone call, we need to go over what he said to you. Obviously, I couldnât hear it.â
âRight now?â You set your glass down.
âBefore I forget,â he reached into his pocket and took out his own phone. He opened up the notepad. âDoesnât have to be exact.â
âHe didnât say⌠muchâŚâ You began and you regretted the two glasses of wine. âHe said I⌠I was pure⌠and thatâŚâ Your cheeks burned and you felt the flutter of nerves, âHe wants to use me andâŚâ You swallowed as your lips quivered, âHe said soon. That he would do something soon.â
You grabbed your wine and drank deeply.Â
âThatâs all. Thatâs all he said.â You put the glass down and held your head. âI donât know what to do.â
âYouâre doing all you can,â his hand settled gently on your back and you winced. He rubbed lightly as he shifted closer and placed his phone on the table. âAnd you got me.â
âYeah, but I-- I donât know if you can stop him.â You looked at him as tears blurred your vision. âAnd I donât know what I did to make him do all this. Heâs killed others because of me and⌠And how am I supposed to live with that?â
âHe did that, not you,â Bucky insisted, âItâs not your fault--â
Your phone slipped from the arm of the couch suddenly as it vibrated. Buckyâs hand dropped away as you took your cell. You held up the flashing screen. There was no number, not even âPrivateâ or âUnknownâ. Just the two icons; answer or ignore.
You hovered your thumb over the latter and Bucky stopped you. He shook his head as you looked at him. âAnswer it.â
You grimaced and he let you go. He moved away from you and you hesitated. You hit answer and the screen lit up. It was a video call. You saw a white ceiling and heard the muffled sobbing of a woman. Goosebumps rose on your skin as the camera moved erratically and the colours blurred together and cleared to form the image of a womanâs face.
She had a gag in her mouth, tied in place by a black piece of fabric. Tears stained her cheeks as she squirmed.Â
âBaby girl,â the voice spoke from offscreen as a gloved hand appeared holding a knife. It dragged the edge down the womanâs cheek as she squealed. âSheâs nothing. Nothing compared to you.â
You were frozen, weighed down with dread and fear as you sat gaping at the screen.
âIâll show youâŚâ He turned the knife. âShow you that she can never be you. That there is only you.â
The hand moved so fast and drew a sudden line of red across the womanâs throat. The cut gushed as the woman choked on the gag and her own blood. The sickening noise of her death filled your ears and the man moaned your name. The screen went black and you dropped your phone.
âOh my god,â you gasped as you shook violently and the alcohol bubbled in your stomach, âOh my god, oh my god.âÂ
You stood dizzily and fell back on the couch. Bucky touched your arm and you pulled away as you bent over the side of the couch at the sudden revolt inside of you. You wretched onto the hardwood as tears spilled from your eyes. Your body contracted as you were overwhelmed in fear and revulsion.
âOh my god,â you cried, âOh my godâŚâÂ
Bucky pulled you back to him and stretched his arm over your shoulders. He hushed you as he hugged you to him and rocked you back and forth.
âYouâre okay, honey. There was nothing you could do,â he said, âShh, calm down. BreatheâŚâ He caressed your head as he held you, âJust breathe. Iâm here.â
