pairing: mattheo riddle x fem!reader
summary: mattheo chose you and still you wonder why he even broke up with his ex in the first place
warnings: feeling like the wrong choice, insecure reader, angst but fluff ending
notes: i just wrote a little drabble since i already had a planned fic ready for lacy, i hope you still like it!
her hair was flowing effortlessly over her shoulders, caressing her back like it was some sort of clothing. she looked effortlessly pretty in general, soft pink lips and warm brown eyes reflecting the light of the sun when she would walk through the courtyard.
and the worst thing about her? she was nice. simply put. you couldn’t even manage to hate her, because next to being beautiful, she had a charming personality, a great sense of humor and friends everywhere she went.
you had understood if she had hated you. you, the new girlfriend of her first great love. but she didn’t and that made it impossibly worse.
“hey, y/n” she had greeted one morning, a smile plastered on her face and happiness reflecting in her eyes. “theo mentioned that you had some problems regarding the divination essay” she said and added, before you were able to retort something: “i finished mine a few days ago and thought it might help you to read over it. it was indeed a very hard task, i struggled too”
“oh” you had said, dumbfounded, and stared at the pieces of parchment she was holding in your direction. “thank you, aurora”
“no problem” she grinned. “and rory is fine, all my friends call me that”
she had left in a hurry, having to return books to the library, and you spent your time looking after her in awe, surprise and insecurity flooding your features.
it was beyond you why mattheo had decided to break up with her. aurora turner was simply perfect and you certainly weren’t.
"what's going on in there, huh?" mattheo slipped into the space beside you, touching your head with one of his fingers softly.
"oh, nothing" you quickly excused, taking your eyes off of aurora and looking to the book in front of you. "this reading for muggle studies is just taking up my brain"
"romeo and juliet?" mattheo questioned, studying the leatherbound book.
"yeah" you sighed. "the english is kinda off"
"i know" he shrugged, turning the book around in his hands and opening it to a random page.
"you know?" you repeated, trying not to laugh. "i never as much saw you look at a book before"
"i liked this one" he smiled.
your smirk died down. "oh, i didn't know that" you tried to find his eyes. "why did you never mention it? i would've read it sooner then"
"it's not a big deal, that was ages ago" he paused, unsure if it was okay to finish the sentence, but you urged him on, nodding repeatedly so he would continue. "rory liked it"
"oh" you said plainly, before you realized that your reaction was all the more telling of your inner jealousy and insecurity about his old relationship. "i mean cool"
"y/n" mattheo muttered, laying the book down in front of you. "it really doesn't matter. we don't even have to mention it again"
"i don't want you to feel like you can't tell me something, just because you experienced it with your ex" you smiled, but it was costing you all your strength. "you can talk about the past, it doesn't bother me"
"that's clearly a lie" mattheo saw through you completely. "you shouldn't have to hide your feelings to make me feel better"
you sighed, realising that it was to no use to lie to him. "sorry, i just—" you shook your head "i don't even know why you decided to break up with her in the first place and i think i'm scared that you'll realize that at one point too"
mattheo looked at you with a soft smile, his gaze searching your eyes as if trying to convey everything he felt with just that look. "y/n, i'm gonna be honest. it’s not that rory wasn’t great," he began, his tone gentle. "she is a really good person, and there was nothing wrong with her. but that doesn’t mean she was the right person for me."
you blinked, trying to process his words as he continued.
"i realized that being with someone just because they seem perfect on the surface doesn’t mean it’s the right fit. we just didn’t connect in the way i needed. with you..." he hesitated, as if searching for the right words, "...it’s different. you make me feel understood. you get me in a way that no one else does."
you looked at him with so much admiration that he had to look down, his cheeks turning a deep shade of red.
"look" he said, when he was able to look in your eyes again. "dating rory was like constantly standing on a pedestal and people expecting me to be something different than i was. that didn't feel right, and it shouldn't. but being with you feels like coming home after a long day, realizing that there's someone in my corner even if no one else likes me for who i am and not for who they see in me"
"i didn't know you felt like that" you muttered, ashamed that you had possibly made him uncomfortable.
"i don't, not anymore" he smiled. "not since i met you. because i don't care about the others. i just care about us, you and me"
"i love you" you said as he kissed your cheek, pulling you closer by your waist.
"i love you" mattheo mumbled against your mouth. "don't ever think you're worth less than her, just because you're not her. if anything that's what makes you more special to me"
you nodded, teary-eyed, as he pushed his lips forward to meet yours. your hands toyed with the hem of his curls as he deepend the kiss.
after that day you never questioned mattheo's choice again. and you could see that both him and rory held a lot of respect for each other. but both were not even interested in anything deeper. mattheo never looked up when he heard her voice anywhere. rory never came to the tree you had often seen them kissing at, back when they had been together.
you realized that being enough for mattheo had never meant being perfect—it had only ever meant being yourself.

❝ 𝐈 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 ❞
❥ pairing: valentines jason todd x f!reader
❥ summary: this is your first valentine's day with jason after well he died and came back, he needs everything to be perfect for you to make for all the lost time.
❥ warnings: bit of angst, mentions of abuse/torture, tons of fluff & smut, unapproving dad Bruce Wayne
❥ wc: 4.3k
"Jason stop it, c'mon Bruce is going to catch us" you squealed, while your boyfriend pressed kisses all over your neck. "I don't want you to get banned from seeing me again, especially with Valentine's upcoming!"
Jason groaned and lifted his head up from your hickey-stained neck. "Even if Bruce does ban me, there's no way in hell I'm missing our first Valentine's," Jason says, laying his head on your chest. The two of you comfortably lay in your bed, cuddling while your parents were asleep a couple doors down.
You'd grown up with Jason, you'd always known him as a troublesome kid but that didn't stop you from developing a crush on the guy. You never thought of saying anything until you learned he'd gotten adopted after his dad kinda just disappeared.
For weeks you'd missed him, you missed how dumb antics, you missed the way he was always following you around and you missed his dumb smile. God, you loved that cheesy grin he always gave you..
Until one day he appeared on your doorstep, telling you that Bruce, his new dad was finally allowing him to visit his old friends. You thought he'd forgotten you but it was far from it and you knew then and there you definitely had a thing for Jason Todd.
It still took a while for either of you to confess your feelings. You thought you would crack first but Jason did instead when he learned that some guy from your school had a crush on you. He didn't mean for it to come out but he was just so jealous, "Why go out with him when you have me huh? I'd make a much better boyfriend. Just go out with me"
He wasn't wrong because he did, a week later you were on the best date of your life. Jason took you to this amazing amusement park that was happening in the middle of Gotham City. The whole night was spent on games and junk food, and Jason Todd got his kiss on the cheek that wasn't from Barbara.
Over time your relationship developed into something more, you couldn't help but spend more and more time with him. He eventually asked you to be his girlfriend and you've been his ever since.
"Well, I don't want to risk it okay? You need to get home before Bruce notices, don't you guys have patrol tonight"
"Okay fine, fine but first, I have something for you princess"
You watch as Jason pulls out what looks to be a ring box. "Woah, wash slow your roll buster, we are only 15 you can't freaking propose!" you whisper scream, praying that your shock wouldn't wake up your parents.
"Princess calm down, it's just a promise ring," Jason said rolling his eyes as if this was normal. "I wanted to give it to you before our date tomorrow, so you'll already be wearing it"
Jason sat up a bit and cleared his throat while he looked at you nervously, "I'm not sure if I've made this clear but…I love you y/n. Like really love you and you're the girl I want to spend the rest of my life with. So I got this promise ring, it's like a sign of me promising myself to you if that makes any sense"
"You love me?"
"Yes, I love you y/n and you don't have to say it back okay? We're young, I have years to come to hear you say it"
You were silent as he slipped the ring on your finger. You could tell from the moment he opened the box it wasn't cheap but you couldn't complain he bought it for you. Because he loved you. And you wanted to say it back but you were scared, scared to fully accept that you loved him.
Jason didn't care if you said it back or not because, in his eyes, you were the only one who accepted him. He looked at you sweetly and gave you a soft smile before getting out of your bed and heading towards your window. Now was the time to say it, to tell him you loved him but you just couldn't m
"I'll see you tomorrow okay sweetheart? I'll pick you up at 7" He says climbing out the window with one of his cheesy grins.
At the age of 15, you'd never be happier to be young and stupidly in love with Jason Todd. Ever since he moved in with Bruce, the two of you didn't get to see each other a lot, and that caused tension between him and Bruce. Jason believed he deserved a later curfew so he could visit you but Bruce was against it, he didn't think it was safe.
Tonight Jason snuck out to see you, the two of you had Valentine's Day plans and wanted to confirm them and we'll spend time with you. You were his world, you were one of the biggest reasons he became Robin. You were the one he wanted to protect no matter what and you knew that.
What you didn't know was this would be the last time you'd ever see Jason at least until you saw his casket. The two of you never celebrated your first Valentine's and you never got to tell Jason how much he meant to you. You never got to tell him how stupid he was for sneaking out, how much you didn't deserve this wrong, and that you did love him back.
7 years later
Everything had to be perfect.
Currently, it was February 14th and Jason had woken up with what was probably the worst news he could've gotten over a phone call.
Dear Mr.Todd, we're sorry to bother you on such a busy day but your reservation at Gotham Restaurant has been canceled due to a surge of higher-paying customers. We can reschedule your reservation for free at any time. We are sorry for this inconvenience.
"You're kidding me right!" Jason yelled, banging his fist against the wall. Out of a day, it had to snow today huh? Your first Valentine's since the two of you got back together. The first Valentine's since he died. Jason had never been able to give you the Valentines you deserved and when the two of you got back together, he immediately started planning.
"No Sir, we are very sorry for this inconvenience and we can try and get you another reservation elsewhere but-"
"Nowhere else is going to have any free spot and even ignoring that my girlfriend wants to go the Gotham Restaurant not anywhere else"
Well, that is what you had told him when he asked what restaurant would you like to go to that you hadn't been to yet. This wasn't how today was supposed to go. Jason had the whole day planned out. What should've been waking up in his followed by breakfast in bed, shopping, lunch, more shopping, dinner at your favorite place, a movie, dessert at your favorite ice cream shop, and ending with hopefully some cuddling if you didn't mind was now all ruined.
Jason had needed today to be perfect especially after you got over the fact that your dead boyfriend was not only alive but also vililangte who was formerly a crime lord. The fact you still wanted to be with him after all this time bewildered him this led him to believe he was probably on thin ice with you so today had to be perfect.
Since it was already Valentine's Day he knew no other restaurant would have any space for a reservation so that meant he'd probably have to cook the two of you dinner. Jason had quite the stocked fridge so he didn't see it as a bad idea but he knew you'd be disappointed for sure.
His entire relationship was riding on today being perfect and it was already failing. While Jason tried to get dressed he quickly noticed that it was already passed 8 o'clock. He was late, He said he'd make you breakfast in bed at 8 which made him late. Could today get any worse?
And it did when you told him you wouldn't eat breakfast with him because your boss really needed you at work for a couple of hours and he had already been on his way to your apartment. "I'll be back early enough for us to go shopping, and go to the restaurant. mkay? I guess we'll have to miss the movie" you said through the phone while simultaneously getting dressed for work. "Can't wait to go the Gotham Restaurant, can't believe you got us a reservation babe."
"Yeah about that…" Jason couldn't do this, he couldn't tell you that actually, you guys weren't getting dinner anywhere and that he was going to cook at home. You sounded so excited and so happy and he didn't want to be the reason that went away. "You'll love it alright. I'll pick you up from work around 6 for your shopping spree and then we'll get dinner"
"Jay I don't need to go shopping, dinner is enough really-"
"I want to take you shopping okay? I have enough saved up to spoil you and that's what I plan to do sweetheart"
Your heart hummed at the word sweetheart. It had been so long since Jason had called you that. It felt surreal because at times he didn't feel like Jason, well not like your Jason. The Jason who kissed you like his life depended on it, the Jason who was obsessed with holding your hand, the Jason who told you he loved you.
When Bruce called you and told you Jason was alive you didn't believe him. Jason was dead, you were at the funeral just like everyone else and knew how he died. A small part of you blame Bruce, this wouldn't have happened to Dick and even if it did he would've found him. Bruce tried telling you a couple more times but you ignored him. Your boyfriend, no your Jason was dead. The next time you hear about it was from Dick because Jason was out for blood. Joker's if we had to be specific.
You didn't want to believe him but Dick had loved Jason like they were biological brothers and you knew he wouldn't lie. He warned you that Jason was different and that I should be wary of him.
You took his advice and made sure not to walk home alone and tried not to go out at night but one day you had a rough day at work and you decided to visit Jason's grave. You left red dahlias on his tombstone and sat down next to it. You started talking to it about how your boss yelled at you and called you incompetent. "You would have called him an asshole for that if you were here," You told him how much you missed him. You knew he was alive but it felt so much easier talking to the tombstone because it felt like he was really there.
You did this consistently for about 2 months, you had caught on that someone was watching you. It was Dick because when you did actually see the figure they were much taller than Dick and they stayed hidden, Dick wouldn't have a reason to do that. It made sense to alert Dick but you didn't because you knew who it was and you weren't ready to face him.
Eventually, you heard from Dick that Jason had changed and that maybe you should talk to him but you still needed time. That didn't stop Jason from approaching you at your apartment. You were startled because your little high school boyfriend was suddenly 6 feet and over 200 pounds. He was practically all muscle and you were kinda scared. That didn't stop you from crying in his arms.
It took a while for the two of you to adjust to being in each other's lives especially when you never stopped having feelings for him. When you admitted that to him, he asked for a second chance. That he'd be yours even if you weren't his. So you let him be yours.
"Okayyy, I'll see you at 6 hun," you said just as you cut off the call.
Jason paces around his bedroom trying to figure out how the hell he was going to get the reservation back.
The two of you arrive at the mall, and you wait while Jason parks his motorcycle. It was shocking how there were barely any cars in the lot. Jason assumed that maybe people were just busy cause of Valentine's. You were so excited to go in that you ran over to the doors to get inside except you couldn't.
Closed for Construction, the sign read.
Jason didn't think today could get worse but it did. "No no no! This wasn't supposed to be Damn it!" He said angrily. He had even called the building, they were supposed to be opened. Construction wasn't for another 2 weeks, it was just his luck that they decided to start early. "Jason it's fine, I told you I don't need to go shopping. It was very thoughtful of you though to want to spoil me but you're already getting me dinner at the best restaurant in the city"
"There is no dinner! Our reservation got fucking and canceled and…Today is ruined y/n. Let me just take you home."
"Jason why didn't you tell me, I can promise you today is not ruined. Jay, are you even listening to me?"
Jason was hardly processing your words though because all he could think was losing you. You would dump him and he would go back to hating himself and his very existence. Would life go back to being a reminder that he died? He was tortured endlessly until he was finally out of his misery. No matter how hard the Joker tried to convince him that you hated him he wouldn't believe him. The part of you wearing his promise ring is what kept him going. What got him through the beating. What made it easier to look at the scars.
What left did he have if he wasn't able to love you. He was yours, he didn't know how to love others and he didn't want to because he would always love you. When he was watching you he realized that even though it had been 7 years you were still the same.
Still had the pretty smile and that contagious laugh, still had a knack for books and enjoyed it. You were still his, at least he believed so. And the one thing you asked him, he couldn't deliver. You messed up your first Valentine's and now he was going to mess up this one too.
"Jay for fucks sake, would you look at me!!"
Jason wasn't sure if it was that cursing that made him snap out of his spiral or maybe it was the fact that you were holding his hands. It had only been 2 weeks since he reintroduced himself into your life, and had been avoiding affection. He knew it was cause he was so big now and you were a bit scared. But right now you weren't. You were holding your hands with his. You were looking at him with what looked like pain and so much regret but you were smiling at him. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"
"Just shut up okay? And listen to what I have to say"
After you had finally managed to calm him down you knew you needed to tell d him how you had felt. "When I lost you, I regretted so much Jay but what I regretted most was not telling you that I loved you and it hurt. It hurt knowing Joker had you and that you were in pain but what hurt more was that you were really gone."
You paused and slowed your breath a bit.
"I know it seems like you owe me something like you need to make up for lost time or show me you're worth love but I already know that Jay. I've been yours since we were kids, m'kay? "
"But I do owe you, I owe you the goddamn world if possible"
"For what Jay?"
"Accepting me again I know I'm different than I'm used to be. I'm more shut out and I know I definitely look different. There is so much you accepted just cause I love you"
You groaned annoyingly and raised your hand up and shook it in his face, "Have you even noticed that I'm still wearing this promise ring? The one you gave me?"
Jason had, you wondered why you still wore it. It was so tiny and was probably uncomfortable. It was a tiny gold band, he had paid Selina for that had a diamond on it. To others, it clearly looked like it could be an engagement ring and you still wore it because you still, did being to someone whether was dead or alive. People tried to convince you to move on and take off the ring but you didn't listen.
"You still have it..."
"Mhmm, believe me now?"
"How about we get dinner to go at some random place, come to my place and we'll eat and cuddle while watching some movies"
"You're okay with just that?"
"I'm okay with anything as long as I'm doing it with you Jay, that's the whole point"
Jason smiled and held you in his arms, "can't believe you're still all mine"
"C'mon let's go to the movie theater and see what they've got"
And that's exactly what you did.
The two of you were cozied up on your bed, with a bunch of food. Jason bought himself chili dogs and got you pancakes to make up for breakfast. Who knew pancakes tasted better at night?
Jason also bought 2 tubs of Ice Cream to substitute as dessert. You may not be eating at that fancy restaurant but you were still having the time of your life.
"I swear you hated chili dogs when I was alive?!"
"I always liked them I just never wanted to admit it else that would've been the only food we'd ever eat"
While the TV played in the background you looked over at Jason who looked the happiest he'd been all day. There he was, your Jason. He was there, under all those scars he was still there. Jason noticed you were staring you looked over at you, and leaned in to place a soft kiss on your lips. "I've missed the taste of your lips" he whispered quietly
He kissed you again and this time you wrapped your arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. "I've missed you, Jay," you said in response. Jason didn't hands on his way to your hips and he pulled you closer, right onto his lap. You still hadn't adjusted to Jason being so big, so when your hands found your way to his muscles you were surprised to feel him groan while you felt him up a bit.
"Sweetheart, if you keep this up I'm going to do something you might regret"
"I didn't regret my first time with you, I'm not going to regret it now babe"
He groaned again this time grinding his hips upwards against yours. Jason swiftly switches your position, putting you underneath him. His kisses quickly became more eager while his hips rutted into you, "Baby, I don't have any-"
"Don't need it, got on the pill a couple years back" you said softly, gripping his shirt. "I promise I want this, so let's get these out for he was please?"
Your pleas were enough for Jason to take off your dress, you'd worn a red satin dress. He'd always liked you in red, especially when it was just for him. Jason had on a tux except he replaced the jacket with his favorite leather one. Regardless, he still looked so good, as he always did.
His leather jacket was already on your bedroom floor, you tried to undress him but he stopped you. "The scars…I don't want to scare you again"
"You won't, I promise. I'll even kiss them, they're a part of you Jay and you're mine" you say tugging on his shirt. With a sigh, he silently takes off his shirt. You raise your hand to touch him but stop and make sure it is okay. He doesn't verbally answer but he gives you a nod. You trace his scars with your finger but one sticks out the most, his neck scar.
You move your face closer to his neck, and kiss his scar, "You're still as beautiful as ever, you're still my Jason" you say while you pull away from his neck. Before you can even read his reaction, Jason kisses you again, rough and with more of a need. Jason had told you he'd met other people but in the end, he could ever think of you. You were the only person who made it just for him.
You'd had your own set of boyfriends which all seemed to end up the same, they'd get too close and you'd dump them. You couldn't imagine loving anybody the way you loved Jason. Jason's body pressed against yours with his hand on your back, pushing you into him. Your hands made your way to his pants, tugging at the waistband. "Patient baby, I'll take em off for you"
The sound of a belt hit your floor but you didn't care, you kept kissing him like your life depended on it. You didn't fully remember when Jason took off your underwear but you remember him, "Jay when did get so..."
"big?" he finished for you with a chuckle, "Yeah, there's a lot you're going to have to get used to with me" His tip pressed at your cunt, earning a disapproving groan for you. You didn't like how slow he was going, you knew he was doing it because he didn't want to hurt you but you weren't 15 anymore you could take it.
You wrap one leg around his waist pushing against his back. Jason liked the way you squirmed underneath him, practically begging for him to fuck you. After a couple minutes, he gave in and sunk his cock right into you. Your nails dug into his back, feeling the stretch of his cock inside you. You felt so embarrared you came on his cock from just him entering"
"Did you just-"
"Shut up please"
Jason looked down at you, his cheeks flushed red, while he was breathing very quickly
"Jay why aren't you moving"
"Can't baby"
"What do you mean you can't?"
"I mean if I move, I'm going to cum on the spot sweetheart so please bare with me" he groaned out, trying to adjust to your warm cunt hugging his cock. Slowly he began to move, using one hand to grip the sheets in hopes he wouldn't blow his load too quickly. His other hand was on his hip, trying to steady your body. Your hands were on his face, caressing his cheeks. Whenever he blushed it was so obvious, you used to tease him all about it even though you loved it.
He down to capture your lips again, allowing your arms to find themselves around his neck. Each thrust was messier than the last, getting rougher after each second. Sex now was so much more different than when the two of you were teens. Jason did things you didn't even know he could do. Once he'd found your g-stop he began to abuse it, earning a chocked moan from you every time. He was studying what you liked, what made you feel good and you loved him.
He let go of the sheets and placed both hands on your hips, giving you even tougher thrusts and even biting on your neck. Your entire body was on fire, you were overwhelmed notnonkynfrom his size but the feeling of Jason's body pressing into yours. You couldn't feel so good.
You always knew Jason was a bitter, also long as he didn't draw too much blood you were alright with it. A soft moan left your mouth as you came again, cum running down your thighs while Jason continued to fuck you. Jason thought about overstimming, making you beg for him to stop because you'd feel too good.
"Didn't know my girl was into biting" He said, while lifting up one of your legs to push deeper into you. You'd cum for tbr second time but he needed you cum one last time at least before he came. The rough slaps of skin and moans filled the room. Making it hard for you to not cum again on the spot. You felt so good you couldn't even complain that he was teasing you "Fuck you're really sensitive sweetheart"
You hid your face in the crook of his neck while his hips pounded into yours. Your legs shook while you whispered in his ear, "If you don't stop m'gonna cum again, Jay pleaseeeee"
He didn't stop though, instead, you came another two times. Makes a mess of cock. "Such a good girl f'me, just let me fill you up and we'll be done. I promise sweetheart" He gripped your hips tightly before releasing inside you. The two of you exchanged a couple more kisses while you both rode out your orgasms.
You whimpered while he pulled out of you, missing his warmth already. He watched as his cum poured out of you, dripping on the sheets. You laid back on the bed, while he hovered over you for a brief moment.
Once he laid down next to you and though he was panting he pulled your body onto his lap. You rested your head on his chest just as he used to do to you. That reminded you, there was something you needed to say, "Jay can I say something I've been holding in for a long time, yeah?"
"Mhmm, what is it, sweetheart?"
"Jason Peter Todd, I love you"

vena amoris
Summary: some part of me must have died / the first time that you called me “Baby”
Pairing: s.h. x reader
W.C.: 2.5K
Themes: the usual— repressed feelings, smut mentions, Cabaret quotes, Steve ‘down bad’ Harrington™️
A/N: well ahoy there! Did I take a mental health day and brain rot this into being? You bet! Title is Latin for “the vein of love.”
“Oh god,” You’d remarked, with a knowing smirk and lifted brow. “Can you imagine?”
Your tone brokered no argument. It wasn’t a whimsical, starry-eyed, sigh filled statement coming from a naive girl.
No, instead it was a wry, flippant remark laden with sarcasm and pity as the woman by the college green gleefully sobbed out a yes, yes, of course! to a polite smattering of applause as her newly minted fiancé slipped a sparkling band onto her finger.
“And on graduation day, no less.” You bat away the few hairs that had flown into your face buoyed by the summer breeze, your graduation gown fluttering about your legs. “Damn my guy, let the woman have her moment jeez.”
Steve struggled to laugh and maintain composure, because the thing was, he actually could imagine it, and had even done so himself from time to time. The time honored predicament of “keeping it casual” while remaining friends.
He remembers it clear as day, how you’d met in front of the dining hall as he’d overslept (again) and rushed to shove his pockets full of cereal before his morning lecture so as to not fall asleep during Macroeconomics.
”Hey, Buck-o!” You’d crowed from the table riddled with pens, to-go coffee cups, and clipboards, “Are you registered to vote?”
All he can remember thinking, after the pre-requisite it’s too damn early for this was the ever eloquent, well, fuck me.
Nevermind that you were wearing a Reagan Ruined Everything shirt accompanied by the flaming visage of the man. Nevermind that your friend merely snorted at your bombastic accosting of students for the sake of democracy. Nevermind that several people had shoulder checked him in their rush to get waffles and coffee.
”Ritchie Rich,” You’d said with a smile, “Voting solely for your interests or ready to join the proletariat with the rest of us?”
It was an unlikely friendship, to say the least. You, a blue-blood former ballet dancer until “my tits grew in” majoring in poli-sci and him, the sole progeny of a captain of industry on the ivy-league to corporate office pipeline.
So, it really was inevitable that you’d fall into bed together. Even without your grandparents wheedling and match-making attempts. But still, you weren’t dating— he wasn’t that kind of guy and you weren’t even interested in a relationship anyway.
It was sex and friendship, that was all.
Argento movie marathons because it was “a crime you’ve never seen something outside of a cineplex, Harrington,” underneath mountains of a goose-down duvet. Trips to the Cape just to pass the time, M&M’s riddling the hardwood floors in front of a roaring fire with his head between your thighs. Dragging him out on cold autumn mornings to canvass for local elections. Late nights where you’d pass out in front of the flickering tv screen after watching Bitter Rice.
Sure, Robin side-eyed the entire situation and Dustin never failed to remind him how much of an idiot Steve was being. But, in fairness, it was never something that struck either of you as odd.
It was college, people do weirder and more detrimental shit all the time without the evergreen excuse of misguided youth. Who was he to look a gift horse in the mouth?
Eddie was the one to ruin it all.
“Dude,” He’d said, surprisingly serious as he loaded up his bike for the drive back to New York. “Not for nothin, but if I were you Harrington,” He inclined his head toward where you were at the coffee cart. “I’d lock that shit down.”
”Whaddya mean? We’re just friends.”
“Sure buddy,” Eddie laughed, clapping him on the shoulder. “Keep tellin’ yourself that.”
But did he really think about it after that? Of course not, just continued to careen toward graduation and the inevitable.
He was destined for great things, according to his father: continuing the family legacy and filling the coffers, working abroad in Europe for year post-grad and securing those overseas accounts.
So when he wasn’t suffering through mind-numbing lectures, and being at dear old dad’s beck and call, Steve was doing what he did best: wilding with the gang or hanging out with you.
Which mostly resulted in fucking at increasingly creative locations at your place or his, but he digresses.
His graduation was uneventful— his father sternly nodded his approval while his mother posed them like dolls for a family photo. They’d drug him to a prolonged who’s who of his father’s connections under the guise of a celebration dinner, to which none of his friends had been invited.
Steve had schlepped himself back to the apartment, less drunk than he would’ve preferred given the circumstances. Only to be greeted by you at the door, in one of your more creative get-ups consisting of a 1920’s boudoir set with stockings.
Plum-painted lips split like a ripe fruit, white pearly teeth gleamed in the dim hallway light. And his heart nearly beat its way out of his chest.
“Willkommen, bienvenue, welcome,” You gently kick the door of his apartment the rest of the way open to reveal people packed to the brim inside— Robin, Dustin, Eddie.
“Fremde, étrange, stranger.”
Because of course you’d throw him a going away party, themed no less (“Cabaret only seemed appropriate since you’re Berlin-bound come morning,”). The drinks are flowing and the music is thumping and all he wants to do is kiss you, so he does.
And the world doesn’t cease to turn, the music doesn’t stop, his friends don’t give a damn. No one is shocked by this turn of events, not even the elusive ex of Stanford fame Nancy Wheeler.
Because if there’s one thing that everyone knows, well everyone excluding you because if you somehow caught on to him Steve might actually drop dead right then and there—
What everyone knew was this: Steve Harrington was not and had never been a casual guy.
He heard Eddie mumble something about Sisyphus into his drink before pulling him off of you. Your lipstick was smeared and a little patchy now, but he sure as shit didn’t care, his own mouth was probably branded now too, bruise-colored as if he’d bitten into an overripe stone fruit.
A big deal is made about getting the King a drink, as Eddie all but frog marches Steve to the bar.
“So,” He greets, clapping him on the back, “You’re down bad.”
Steve nearly chokes on the beer, the frothy foam ticking at his nose. He swallows past his heart lodged in his throat, and shakes his head.
“It’s nothing.”
“Tell that to your mouth, Liza,” He sweeps a thumb against Steve’s bottom lip, it comes back riddled in purple lipstick. “You know you leave tomorrow, right?”
Steve turns back to the bar and signals for a shot of something, anything really. He sips at his beer in the interim, letting Eddie’s declaration linger in the air between them.
They drink in silence until Robin stumbles in, dragging Steve away claiming “besties before the resties!”
He spies you and Dustin chatting nearby, you catch his eye with a lascivious and exaggerated wink before throwing your head back in laughter at something the dingus had said.
The party rages on for hours— he’s already packed and ready to go for his flight tomorrow, and he knows you’d put a lot of effort into this send off, but Steve would like nothing more than to wrap himself around you and fall into bed. Eventually someone catches onto this and alerts the guests that they “don’t have to go home, but you can’t stay here!”
Steve doesn’t know who to thank for that, Nancy maybe. He’ll figure it out later. At that moment, he was more concerned with getting those glasses out of your hands and that garter belt on the floor.
“Hey, you okay?” You’d asked in the early morning light, watching as he stumbled into his pants and threw on a shirt.
Your face was freshly scrubbed of your makeup from last night, soft and open as your eyes trailed him from your spot in his bed.
He was a weak, weak man when he’d sat down with a sigh and asked, “Tell me not to go?”
He can hear you shuffle across the bed, can feel the warmth of your body as it drapes against his back.
“Tell me not go to,” Steve continues, “Tell me to blow off my dad, the Harrington destiny, tell me to fuck it all and that I can figure something else out.”
You nose along the column of his throat, lips settling at the nape of his neck. His hand finds its way to yours, arms wrapped against his shoulders, fingers dancing along his collarbone. He links a solitary finger with yours crooking into each other like monkeys in a barrel.
“Oh babe,” You sigh, the pet name rolling prettily off your tongue, “You know I won’t do that, as much as I would delight in smearing the Harrington name.”
You grip him all the tighter.
“You have a plane to catch and a life to start. A life you were dragged kicking and screaming into but you know what?”
“What?”
“The only way out is through, Steve.” You rest your head on his shoulder, continuing, “The changes you want to make? Well, it’s your life so make them. Who’s going to stop you? You’re a blue-blood white man in a world built to serve people like you.”
“Are you going to lecture me about the patriarchy? Because it’s too early for that—"
“I’ll spare you, just this once.” You tease, “But no, I’m just saying that you have options and it’s a year away from your father. Take advantage of it.”
Steve knows you mean well, that you’re trying to put a positive spin on his departure but still, it hurts.
He stands back up with what he hopes is a believable smile on his face. He expects to see you settled back in the sheets when he turns around, not hopping on one leg as you attempt to jam your foot into your Vans with one hand, while clawing into a bra with the other. Somehow, you’re already in sweatpants.
He can barely restrain his laugh, “What’re you doing?”
“Uh, accompanying you to the airport, duh.”
And if his heart wasn’t already broken, surely this would’ve been the nail in the coffin.
“No, don’t get up.”
“Too late for that.”
“My bags are already in the car,” He tries again, trailing after you from the bedroom to the kitchen.
“Great! Do we have time for coffee?”
“No, seriously,” Steve catches your hand before it can land on the doorknob, tugging you back from the door.
“But,” Your voice has lost its joking tone and you can’t bring yourself to look him in the eye. “I have to say goodbye. I have to wave at you from the gate.”
“They won’t let you past security.”
“Then I’ll wave from there,” You say with a sniff, blinking the tears from your eyes. “I have to go, please.”
Steve, in that moment, chooses to glance up at the rafters of his loft apartment in an effort to keep his emotions in check. So he misses how greedily your eyes take him in, as if it’s for the last time, how you’re biting your lip so hard as to draw blood.
And by the time he looks back down again, you’ve found a spot on the floor to stare steadily at.
“Hey,” He says, curling a finger under your chin prompting you to glance up. Steve gives you a watery smile at best before imploring, “I need you to listen to me, please.”
He waits for your nod of assent before continuing.
“Everything is all set— I’ve paid the rent on the apartment for the next year, so you don’t have to worry about that. I know you won’t use the car service, but there’s a few more weeks left on that too, so.”
Your face falls with the finality of it all. That Steve is actually leaving, that he’ll be in Europe for the next year “growing up” as his father intended. And that maybe you should’ve done more to help him want to stay.
“There’s a ticket for you on the counter for after midterms, I’ll meet you in London and we can do whatever you want, just like we agreed.”
You nod quickly and take a short breath. He kisses you on the forehead and promises to call once he lands.
As his hand twists open the door, you blurt out:
“Please don’t do this. Let me come with you to the airport. You’re going to be gone for so long and—"
“Baby.”
And you know he’s serious because that diminutive is solely reserved for when you’re at least two orgasms deep and he’s got your knees up by your ears. Sweat-slick and ruddy-mouthed, your whole world narrowed to focus on him, desperate longing veiled by throes of passion.
Steve doesn’t even turn back, and you can hear how his voice shakes. “If you go with me, I won’t get on the plane.”
Your arm drops from where you’d reached after him, hadn’t even registered the action as you did it.
In a small, guilty voice you say, “I know.”
The muscles of his back feather as he sighs, his grip on the doorknob knuckle-white. He knows you can’t really mean it, that it’s the scared, vulnerable part of you stumbling as you offer him an olive branch; a way out.
In the end, he got on the plane anyway.
Smash-cut to a year later, the same college green but this time it’s not him in the graduation cap and gown. Steve took the week off for your graduation festivities, flew back into Logan then rented a car for the drive to Cambridge. Made nice with your parents and grandparents, shook your grandfather’s hand politely when he’d said that Steve was a “fine boy from a fine family,” and tried in vain to forget the fact that this is the same man who’d learned his granddaughter was sexually active with him, mind you, in front of no less than a missionary, a minister, and a rabbi.
But all of that is neither here nor there, as you clap politely for the newly engaged couple, pinning your mortarboard beneath your elbow. And because he knows you, Steve catches your eye roll sequence, surely at the audacity of That Man who proposed on his girlfriend's graduation day, from Harvard no less.
He snatches the satin covered cardboard from you, and throws an arm around your shoulders walking you toward the rager of a graduation party Eddie was throwing at your apartment.
“I know,” He says conspiratorially, relishing as you lean into him. “God forbid a woman do anything.”
Your laugh is a good distraction for him, something loud and joyful to focus on as the ring box in his left pocket sinks like a stone.

Pretty messed up how some people are fans of a creepy and obsessive guy who didn’t care if a man and a child died just so he could get the girl.
Alright, let's break this down, anon, because there's a lot to unpack here.
I think I've mentioned this in several posts already, but I'll repeat it: Severus owed James Potter NOTHING—no compassion, no empathy, no mercy. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. James Potter was a rich, popular brat who abused his social and economic capital to torment a poor, unsupported boy for seven years just because he didn't like him from the moment they met on the train to Hogwarts, and from that moment on, he had it in for him. He was a terrible bully who used his friends to join in on that nasty bullying. So if Snape didn’t care that he died, well, Snape had every right to feel that way. Do you go to victims of domestic violence and tell them they should feel sorry for their abusers? No, right? Well, this is the same thing. James was an abuser, Severus was his victim. Severus did more than enough by not telling Voldemort to torture him to death with Cruciatus, because I would have. Honestly, I don't understand why Snaters always bring up the whole "James was dead and Snape walked over his body" as if it were some horrible thing when, hello! You're talking about an ABUSER being dead, mate. Of course, he walked right over his body—what surprises me is that he didn’t throw a party.
Harry had to die. I know this sounds terrible, but it’s basically what the prophecy indicated. He was a target that Voldemort wasn’t going to let slip away, his fate was sealed. And yes, it’s unethical. And yes, it’s immoral. But the truth is that wars are unethical and highly immoral, and horrible, monstrous decisions are often made. Harry was not an option—asking for mercy for him was pointless because there wasn’t going to be any.
I don’t think Severus ever believed that if James was out of the picture, Lily would go to him or anything like that. I mean, they hadn’t spoken for five years—about six by that time. Severus NEVER harassed or stalked Lily. The only time he went after her was when the whole SWM incident happened, and he tried to apologise. Once she made it clear she didn’t want anything to do with him anymore, Severus respected her decision, and as far as we know from canon, they never interacted again. So, I don’t think, after six years of not talking, with his supposed former best friend having married and had a child with his personal bully, Severus had many expectations of them ending up in any sort of romantic relationship. I think, quite simply, that Lily always represented the only good part of his childhood—the only happy memories, the only moments of peace amidst the hellish violence he endured at home. I believe this was crucial for someone like him, whose childhood and teenage years were marked by violence, and he wasn’t willing to let the one good thing in his life end up murdered.
I agree that Severus is highly obsessive, but haters tend to frame this in a derogatory way, referring to his "obsession" with Lily, and I think it needs some clarification. Yes, Severus is obsessive, and he’s terribly immature at times, and he overreacts enormously when confronted with something that really triggers him (just look at how quickly he loses his temper with Sirius, for instance). This is obviously because he’s someone who never had the opportunity to grow up normally or develop cognitively as he should have, because his whole life was marked by violence. His home life was violent, and at school, he endured violence, and then at 20 years old, he handed his soul over to Dumbledore’s cause and had to work for nearly two decades at a school that was the epicentre of many of his traumas. He literally had neither the spaces nor the environments needed to heal and grow into a functional adult, and you can clearly see this in his behaviour. I’ve always said Severus is more of a diva than the cold, mysterious character people often make him out to be in fanon. To me, he’s someone who, on a personal level, hasn’t been able to grow emotionally in a healthy way and doesn’t know how to manage certain situations, especially those tied to his emotional issues. That said, I also don’t think he was romantically and/or sexually obsessed with Lily. I do think he loved her or was infatuated with her in his youth—first love, crush, whatever. But I don’t believe his need to avenge her death was due to romantic or obsessive love. I think it’s more about his obsession with repaying his debt to her. Severus always felt partially responsible for Lily’s death, and that’s where his obsession lies: it’s not that he’s obsessed with her, per se, but with the fact that he feels guilty for what happened. He feels, in some way, responsible for the death of the one person who showed him kindness, affection, and care during his childhood, which made her the most important person in his life at one point. And guilt often leads to obsession, much like grief that is not properly processed, and I don’t think that kind of obsession is creepy. I think it’s a very human kind of obsession.
Lastly, I don’t find Severus creepy at all. Why is he creepy? I mean, Harry was running around with his invisibility cloak, spying on everyone. The Marauders had A BLOODY MAP that allowed them to track everyone at Hogwarts 24/7 like some kind of magical GPS. Is Severus really the creepy one here? There are literally Animagi who turn into animals to spy on people—I have to laugh at the whole creepy argument.
That being said, if you’re going to come into my DMs to complain about Severus, at least bring some convincing arguments because it’s a bit tiresome hearing the same nonsense over and over again.

— headcanons. what life is like for miles!42
a/n: i honestly didn’t mean for these to get so angsty oopsies!! i kept adding on so they’re also very lengthy wc: 1,751
contains: mentions of grief
Everyone thinks he’s rude and impossible to approach—but that’s a common misconception. In reality, he’s actually quite shy and simply prefers to keep to himself. His quiet nature often causes him to come off ill-mannered, which is completely unintentional on his end and partially the fault of those who assume what he’s like instead of actually getting to know him.
He used to be open to making friends and spending time with peers, but after everyone found out his dad died— which was impossible to prevent considering the man who used to drive him to school now had a giant mural made in his honor— he began receiving a ridiculous amount of pitied stares in the halls, began hearing hushed whispers about how hard things must be for him at home now. And even though they were, he hated that he was being treated differently by those he once kept close to him, like a charity case. As if he were fragile and would break— like he often did when he was alone.
His old friends were supposed to be his distraction, something to take his mind off how he now had to grow up faster than he’d liked. Something to remind him that his trauma hadn’t aged him as much as he feared; that he truly was still a kid at heart. But instead, they served as a constant reminder of the worst thing he’d ever had to live through— skated around him like he’d blow up the second they said the wrong thing; responded with heartfelt condolences instead of laughing with him whenever he’d tell a funny story about his dad. So eventually, he drifted away from them and began keeping to himself all together.
Don’t put him in a box because of his prowler side hustle, this boy is smart as hell!! Especially with one parent now being gone and his mom struggling to pay the bills? He takes his academics very seriously, he has no choice. He has to get it out the mud somehow and he doesn’t have the privilege of skipping classes as much as 1610-miles does. He’s working two years above his grade level in AP Calculus and AP physics, and has been accused of cheating on his tests a couple times due to how fast he completes them, as well as the fact that he has never once asked a question from the seat he chose in the back of the room.
It’s not something anyone would expect, but he enjoys baking a lot and he’s damn good at it too. When he was younger, he’d spent one summer with his Mamá Lena (Rio’s mother), who had him in the kitchen helping her cook and bake almost everyday and it just stuck. It’s a secret talent of his that never really comes up in conversation, and that you wouldn’t know about unless you’ve seen him doing it. His banana bread muffins using a recipe he took months to perfect taste like the gods themselves made them, and he’ll slip one into his mom’s work lunch whenever he makes them because he knows they’re her favorite.
He’s a lover boy at heart, if you were to look into his playlist, the songs you’d find in there probably wouldn’t be what you’d expect. Listens to bobby bland, which was heavily influenced by his uncle, old school rap, and he really likes love songs from the 90s because they make him feel calm, and allow him to imagine what his life would be like if he could have something like what they’re singing about. He’s terrified he’ll never be able to experience that due to his inability to open up to others. And often, he doesn’t even try to express the emotions that are tough to swallow, a firm believer in the saying that ‘once you’re down, it’s hard to get back up.’
Keeps his room pretty clean. It’s probably the one and only thing he has control over in his life, a constant for him. His room is his safe-haven so he treats it as such. It’s basically the same as 1610’s, just with a more matured look, a lot less color and less expression. He unfortunately lost that spark for a lot of his interests, so you won’t see more than a small punching bag, some boxing gloves hanging from the doorknob and few stragglers in the form of posters he didn’t feel like taking down.
He doesn’t like to argue, at all. He hates fighting with anyone he loves and he’s very quick to forgive them or squash the disagreement all together now that his dad is no longer here. When Jeff died, they were still on rocky terms from their previous dispute and even while years have passed, Miles still has yet to forgive himself for that. So now, he usually lets bygones be bygones, and never lets a conversation end on a bad note.
Continued growing his hair out once he realized it was a way for him to bond and spend more time with his mom. Within the little availability they do have, between her working doubles at the hospital, him being pulled in every direction now that he’s the ‘man of the house’—uncle Aaron’s words— and having to do things he’s not proud of to assist her while still going to school during the day, they make the time. Miles only gets it braided by her, and he enjoys the talks they have when he’s sat on the floor between her legs with his back to her. And when she’s done, regardless of how ridiculously embarrassing it is, and how he’s now over a head taller than her, he always lets her pinch his cheeks and call him her ‘handsome little man’. He hasn’t looked at a pair of hair shears since.
On that note, he is very, very defensive when it comes to his mother. Miles is not the kind to go around beating people up just for kicks; mostly because he’s not that kind of person, but also because even if he wanted to— he can’t.
In preparation for stepping into the prowler role Uncle Aaron put Miles into boxing/m.m.a classes when he turned fourteen, and he took to the skill very quickly. So well, in fact, that his hands can now technically be considered deadly weapons in the eye of the law due to his extensive training— which means he could get slapped with a ridiculous assault charge that would have him doing some time in a juvenile correction facility over a simple fist fight. (if he’s not masked as the prowler obviously).
But, some kid in his history class thought it’d be funny to make a slick comment about how Mrs. Morales was ‘single’ and ‘up for grabs’ now that his dad had passed, and the situation ended with Miles suspended for a week after he’d basically thrown his desk over to get to the kid, his knuckles bruised, and a tirade of complaints from the boy’s mother about his now-rearranged nose. However, after hearing the disgusting comment he had made about Miles’ mom, she was kind enough to not press charges and forced her son to apologize to the both of them.
That woman is his saving grace, literally. She stepped up in ways he didn’t even know were possible after his dad died, barely taking time for herself to grieve because she wanted to make sure her little boy didn’t fall apart. He doesn’t let anyone disrespect her and that’s always made known by him. He’s a mama’s boy.
They kind of have a titfortat thing going on, him and his mom. Like how she always stops in to ask him how his day was, if school is going well or if he needs anything, even if the time isn’t ideal and she’s talking to a sleepy Miles at 1am in the morning who can barely keep his eyes open. Or how his uniform is always freshly ironed and laid out for him in the morning, regardless of how exhausted she is and how badly she wants to crawl into bed after her shift. Or how when he’s sick, she’ll drive all the way across town to one of the only fresh markets that sells yuca root and white yautia so she can make him sancocho (a traditional puerto rican dish). It’s the one thing she knows always makes him feel better.
And Miles does nice things for her, too. Like draping a blanket over her sleeping form when she dozes off on the couch in front of the TV. Or making sure her phone is plugged in, so her alarm goes off in the morning, because sometimes she knocks out before she can bring herself to do it. He even goes as far as to secretly slip some extra cash he’s made from a recent job into the ‘RENT’ jar she keeps on her dresser— dropping a hundred in every now and then when she’s not there to see him do it. She’s never once asked him for help, but the one time he took it upon himself to offer it, he was shot down in seconds, and was made to promise her that he wouldn’t worry about it ever again. Her exact words being “You’re too young to worry about something like this mijo, okay? You take all the money you make from your after school job, every single penny, and you save it. Mama’s got this.”
But sometimes, she doesn’t. And Miles knows that she wants to be strong for him. For them. But it takes two, he knows that as well, so he helps out anyway.
And with prayers that they’re not short— Rio counts everything in the rent jar towards the end of the month, and a string of celebratory whoops and hollers will always sound from her room when she realizes they surprisingly have some extra cash that’ll allow her to take some days off and relax for once, and maybe even do something fun together. He’ll listen from his room with a knowing smile, more than happy to let his contributions remain undisclosed to affirm her efforts of providing for them the best she can. With her energy so depleted from how demanding her job is, she’s never suspected it was him discreetly assisting, and chalked it up to her forgetting how much she’d mindlessly dropped in there after each paycheck.

Book Curtis Brothers hcs
because I won't leave you guys hanging just because it got second place
Darry:
-He'll do anything for his brothers even if he hates the thing. (first scene in the book when Pony says he could've just called Darry to watch the movie even though Darry hates them)
-He tries really hard to be gentle when physically comforting people but he's always too rough without meaning to be.
-Genuinely believed Ponyboy hated him for a good while and it would actually keep him up at night at times which added to his stress levels.
-Always makes sure the house is stocked up with first aid supplies for the boys.
-He asks Soda to talk to Pony for him to make sure Pony knows he loves him because he thinks if he were to do it he'd just say the wrong thing and it would go bad.
-The five days Pony was gone were the worst of Darry's life even more so than the death of his parents because to him at least then he got the news the same day but for Ponyboy he had nothing letting him know if he truly was okay.
-Says he would've been okay if Ponyboy never spoke to him again after the slap because he would've deserved it but in reality he wouldn't know how to live with it.
-Hated when people would confuse him for being his dad's brother instead of son because he hated that people thought he looked older when he's only 20. (which doesn't get better now that he's taking care of his brothers)
-Technically this is canon but adding it anyway he is insecure about the fact he didn't get to go to college because he did want a chance to leave tulsa and pursue a career in football.
-Stays by Pony's door until he falls asleep whenever he wakes up screaming from a nightmare to ease his nerves.
-Only irons Soda's shirts because he knows even if Soda has time he won't do it himself.
-When Ponyboy was in denial of Johnny's death he and Soda made sure no one ever mentioned anything about Johnny around Pony.
-He asked Tim to have Curly tell Ponyboy stories about reformatory to scare him from being sent there.
-Used to consider wanting to reconcile with Paul so he'd still have other friends outside the gang. After the rumble happened he stopped thinking about it.
-Apart from his brothers the person he's closest to in the gang is Two-Bit since they're closest in age and he's the only one he truly trusts to leave alone with Pony.
Soda:
-Used to hate being the only blond one of his brothers until his parents died because he liked having his mom's hair color.
-Ever since basically moving into Pony's room because of the nightmares he now uses his old room as a storage space or offers it to the gang if they want to sleep on a bed instead of the couch.
-Will defend his brothers to the ends of the earth over literally anyone no matter who it is (I mean according to Pony the only time he was ever mad at Steve was when he said something about Darry).
-Took everything in him not to tell Darry that he suspected that Dally knew where Pony and Johnny were and almost slipped by wanting to ask him to proofread the letter.
-Slept in his room the days Pony was gone because it didn't feel right to him to sleep in there without Pony but he still didn't sleep well anyway.
-Plays football with Darry even if he's not the best at it just so Darry can still play his favorite sport.
-Contrary to popular belief while he is named the the crier of the brothers it is actually Ponyboy but he lets himself be called that because he knows Pony doesn't like being seen as "weak".
-Even though Sandy cheated on him and everything he couldn't find it in himself to hate her not even a little bit.
-Despite what Pony may think about comparing Soda and Steve to Bob and Randy, Soda would actually be the one to fight even harder and be angry if Steve were the one to die while Steve would be the one to not fight.
-Will gives massages to Darry when Darry works long nights at work because while his brother won't admit it, he doesn't take care of himself as much as he should.
-Misses the days when Darry was just his brother and not guardian because while he gets let off more than Pony the change in relationship between himself and Darry is still noticeable to him.
-Will cling to anything or anyone that is near him when sleeping.
Ponyboy:
-Is quite literally the little brother of the gang even though he thinks it's Johnny. (Everyone including Steve will drop everything for him).
-(pre book but after their parents died) Desperately craved attention/affection from Darry but didn't know how to ask for it.
-He has drawn every member of the gang + Curly but hasn't shown them any of the drawings. His favorite to draw was Dally.
-For the purly/papercut fans (me). Pony is the only one who can keep Curly from getting into too much trouble. (Like we know from Tim that Curly has talked about Pony and even calls him a good kid.)
-After Johnny and Dally's deaths he hangs up his drawings of them in his room. He also keeps Dally's jacket in his room even if he never wears it.
-Tried to finish reading Gone with the Wind after Johnny died but couldn't.
-Has nightmares of him being the one who was stuck under the beam instead of Johnny and being the one who died and wakes up terrified because he truly thinks it would have been better if it was him.
-Makes Darry go into the room with him at doctor's appointments and looks at Darry whenever they ask him a question. He'll also clutch Darry or Soda's arm because he hates being there.
-Quit smoking or is in the process of trying to quit post book because of guilt of potentially starting the fire and because it's not good for him being on the track team and all.
For all 3:
-Darry and Soda go to ALL of Pony's track events.
-Post book they all try to have one day of the week where they all do something together for the other. For Darry, Pony and Soda play football with him. For Pony, they go watch a movie together. For Soda, Darry lets him take them out racing but sits in the back with Pony to keep him safe if anything.
-When they were younger Darry would give shit to anyone who would say anything about his younger brothers having weird names. While Pony and Soda would give Darry shit saying he's the one with a weird name. "seriously DARREL"
-They all sleep in Darry's room together the night before if they know the social worker is coming in fear of separated.

FAST PACE— 빠른 걸음
racer!choi seungcheol x gn!reader, 0.7k words, fluff, reader is terrified of motorcycles + fast driving, cheol has/had piercings, street races, mention of lip cut
“oh no you’re crazy if you think i’m getting on that thing” you half screamed at seungcheol when he revved up his motorcycle.
the man in question giving you a mock offended look, hand placed over his chest to console his unbroken heart. “‘thing?’ baby this is our first child what do you mean?”
you raised an eyebrow at your boyfriend. he always got like this. he loved the thrills and adrenaline in life.
you however were the complete opposite. in theory, yes riding a motorcycle and driving at an insane speed in a car was cool- but in reality it was terrifying. you could be with the most safest driver in the world with no chance of crashing but you’d still be scared and sobbing the entire time.
and truth be told you didn’t get the big deal about it all. you supported your boyfriend and loved how happy he’d get when describing the rush to you but his descriptions are the closest you’ll ever allow yourself to get to motorcycles and fast cars.
“come on baby it’ll be fun!” seungcheol smiled at you, that same charming smile he gave you when you turned up at one of his races because your friend dragged you along.
“i don’t think so cheol..” you told him warily, waving your hands ‘no’ in front of his own that was inching a helmet closer to you.
seungcheol huffed out a laugh, making you look at him a little confused before he pulled you closer to him, engulfing you in a hug.
“it’s just reminding me of when we first met” he smiled, dimples marking deep on his cheek.
you smiled yourself when you thought back on the memory. back then, seungcheol hadn’t gone pro yet and only drove around for street races that your friends urged you to come with them to. it was cool to see, even if the noises made your head hurt.
“shua! you focus on the tall dude with the blonde hair, i’ll tail the one with the buzz cut, got it?” you heard someone say in front of you. when you looked up, you saw it was one of the racers on the team your friends were rooting for.
he wore a graphic tee and a leather jacket. ‘typical’ you rolled your eyes and then scanned the rest of his face to see numerous piercings on his face. looking around, you could see his friends were all pretty similar. more or less all of them wore some sort of leather attire with at least one piercing on either their eyebrow, lip or nose.
when he turned around to grab something from a friend of his he noticed your stare on him, shooting you a smirk before he got in his car.
he obviously won, coming back to cheers from the rest of his friends as well as yours. although you didn’t know much about him, you ended up naturally cheering for him too. he just looked so happy about it and honestly so cute when he hugged his friend that was racing with him.
after the crowd died down, seungcheol approached you again, asking you on a date with a flower that he said he picked and offering you a ride on his motorcycle.
now seungcheol still gets you flowers every time he finishes a race. and he still looks as cute as he did before, trying to hide the flowers behind his back to surprise you but you always know what’s coming when he walks up to you with that same grin.
his hair’s blonde now, he dyed it a few months ago and you can’t help but play with it every time- it compliments his racer jacket so well.
you brushed your thumb on his lip and then the skin on top of his cheek, below his eyes. he doesn’t wear his piercings often anymore. when you asked he said he stopped because it looks more professional without them, but he once let slip to you when he was drunk that he didn’t like wearing them after you’d accidentally cut your lip on it when you kissed him.
“so” seungcheol dragged out, motioning to his spare helmet once more and shooting you a look that said “what do you say?”
you gulped harshly, looking over the motorcycle while biting at your bottom lip. when you saw that pleading look on his face you knew you were done for.
sighing, you took the helmet from him and strapped it on then hopped on to the bike while holding seungcheol’s waist as tightly as you could. “just make sure you go super slow, okay?” you looked at him nervous.
seungcheol smiled again, moving closer to place a kiss on your cheek, “okay”

The Caged Bird Still Sings Part 1
I am finally ready to show you all the Sugar Baby!Steve/Sugar Daddy!Eddie fic I've been working on. I'm not sure how long it will go, but Steve's going to go on a journey with this one.
But I feel I need to go into the title of this fic a bit, because I feel it’s important to talk about before starting the story.
The Caged Bird Still Sings, because they are well taken care of and has every need met. They will never starve, or thirst or get too hot or cold, they will be cared for if sick or injured. The only price is the cage.
It’s like that owl that got released from that zoo by well-meaning ‘animal advocates’ that died by flying into a high rise building. If it had still been in the zoo it would have lived for another thirty years.
So in this story Steve starts off thinking that Eddie’s love and attention is only temporary and is actively trying to get a job, make money of his own, and move out and away from needing Eddie’s money and gifts to survive so that they can be on more even footing.
But as the story goes on and he can’t get work and he meets Robin, he slips into this melancholy for awhile thinking that if he wants to continue living like this there has to be some sort of trade and thinks it’s about sex.
Which is why Eddie refuses to have sex with him during that time. He wants them to be couple and knows that Steve isn’t there yet.
It’s only at the end when Steve realizes this isn’t temporary, that Eddie isn’t just trying to buy sex from him, that he settles into being taken care of. By Robin, by Eddie, by the rest of the band. Not because they don’t think he can take care of himself but because they love him.
There will be only two sex scenes in this. Once at the beginning before the Arrangement, and once at the end when they are both on the same page and they consummate their relationship.
If you think this isn’t your cup of tea, no problem. Let me know in the comments, tags, DMs, or even asks (I’ll answer privately) and I’ll take you off the list. I already have one that has told me upfront that they aren’t interested and won’t be tagged.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this little story.
~
Steve sat in his Bimmer, head hung low between his shoulders, tears streaming down his face. Everything he owned was in the trunk and backseat of the car. It was his car. The title had been signed over to him when he turned eighteen.
He was still wearing the stupid little green vest and name tag that bore the name Family Video. A place he no longer worked. He’d have to return them to the store in the morning, but for now, it created the illusion of still being employed.
When he woke up yesterday morning, he had three things; a home, a job, and a boyfriend. And now he didn’t have any of that shit.
All because last night his parents came home to find him and Tommy on the sofa with their hands in each other’s pants. Leaving no doubt about what they were doing.
They kicked Steve out mere minutes after Tommy fled, his father screaming that he wouldn’t have a dirty whoring fag in his house. All while his mother cried about losing her baby to those ‘horrid queers’.
Steve had called around to his friends looking for a place to spend the night, but they were all too afraid of his dad. His father roared with laughter each time a friend turned him down.
“They don’t want a dirty fag in their house either,” he said with a sneer as Steve hung up on his last hope.
“Now get the hell out of my house.”
Steve did as he was told and spent the night in his car in the parking of Family Video. When it came time to open the store, he grabbed his clothes and work vest and got changed in the bathroom.
By noon, his life was over. Keith had sat him down in his office and told him that due to morality clause that Steve had violated, he would no longer be working at Family Video. He handed Steve his last check and told him he had to return the vest cleaned with his badge by tomorrow or he would be forced to pay for them.
Steve cashed the check. It wasn’t much as it was only the beginning of the new pay period and he had barely worked eight hours before he had been fired.
He had some money in his savings account, another thing that had been signed over to him when he turned eighteen. But not enough for a hotel. So he went to the bank and closed out the account. All total it was only fifty bucks. That might get him a night at a cheap motel, but nothing past that. He would be homeless, penniless, and friendless if he tried.
But there was another way to get a warm place to stay at least for the night without spending everything he had.
He got dressed up in the sluttiest outfit he had. He pulled on tight leather black pants and yellow shirt that barely grazed the top of his belly button. He put on a little eyeliner and mascara, then he added strawberry lip balm to make his lips pop.
Steve opened his wallet and pulled out his fake ID. The one he got when he was sixteen off his cousin.
They looked close enough to be brothers and Scott was easy to change to Steve and ta da! He put it in front of his actual ID and drove out to the Hideout.
He parked far enough away from the bar so people wouldn’t see all his stuff in the back and then walked up to the line. He was so focused on getting in that he missed all the signs.
The lack of variety in clothes from those in the line, the bouncer asking for a high cover charge, higher than normal, and the most glaring? The great big fucking stage setup with the huge ass banner that said in bold fucking letters: CORRODED COFFIN.
Nope, it took getting a seat at the bar and the bartender straight up asking if his girlfriend was a fan of the band before Steve realized his error.
He was a prep surrounded by metal fans all there to see Corroded Coffin. Steve was familiar with them. But then again you had to be dead not to know the name of the biggest band to make out of Hawkins, metal fan or not.
Eddie Munson was older than Steve by a decade, so he was only ten when the older man took his band to LA and made it big. Which if you had listened to any of his teachers or even just anyone over forty at the time for longer than two seconds they would rant about how they never thought he would amount to anything. That making music was a pipe dream and to just accept taking his uncle’s place at the manufacturing plant on the outside of town.
He also knew that they made sure to stop and play here at the Hideout every time they did any American tour just to fuck with those assholes.
So he had really picked the worst night to have his life completely fucked over enough for him to even think about coming here to get laid. Because chances were, he wasn’t gonna. He just hoped that someone took pity on him enough to buy him his drinks so that he could shit-faced enough to endure sleeping rough again.
He ordered a dirty martini and hoped to be left alone at the very least.
~
Eddie was in the back tuning his guitar when Jeff came in shaking his head.
“What’s up, man?” he asked looking back down at his sweetheart.
“Some poor bastard wandered in on the night we perform,” Jeff said with a chuckle.
Eddie raised his head and frowned. “What do you mean?”
“Come here, come here,” Jeff said, waving him over.
Eddie set his guitar down and walked over. Jeff pointed at the guy at the bar. Bright yellow shirt and shiny leather pants.
“Ooh...” he said with a wince. “Poor guy. Probably had a shit day and wanted to blow off some steam and now his day is just going to get worse.”
Jeff nodded. “Yeah, I’m half tempted to at least buy the guy a drink for the sheer fact he fucking stayed. The balls on that dude.”
Eddie watched as the guy fondled the stem of his glass. He licked his lips slowly.
“Oh no,” Jeff said, face palming. “I know that look. And absolutely fucking not. He looks super young, Ed.”
Eddie just shrugged. “He’s at least twenty-one, otherwise he wouldn’t have made it past Monty.”
Jeff raised his head and blinked at him for a moment. Monty was a good bouncer who could spot a fake a mile away.
“Yeah, okay,” he huffed. “Objection retracted.”
Eddie clapped his hands together and rubbed them. “Tell Chrissy to start a tab for this guy and have it be in my name and to put the word out that if anyone is seen harassing him will get kicked out.”
Jeff sighed but did as he was told. Eddie sat back down and began tuning his guitar again. He thought tonight was going to blow, but a little yellow canary just made things a hell of a lot more interesting.
~
Steve was sitting at the bar nursing his one drink for the evening and keeping his head down when a perky blonde slid up next to him.
“I need five bottles of Miller,” she told the bartender and then turned and gave Steve a once over. “And something for the fine gentleman here.”
Steve turned to look at her. Her hair was actually closer to red than blonde but she was cute in a preppy cheerleader kind of way.
“All these going on the same tab?” the bartender asked, handing her the five unopened beers.
She smiled up at him. “Yep! And all his drinks, too. All night. Whatever he wants.”
The bartender raised an eyebrow and then looked over Steve up and down. “God damn him. He’s doing it again?”
The woman just giggled and winked at Steve before taking her prizes with her.
Steve wasn’t about to look a gift horse in the mouth so downed his drink and ordered a Tequila Sunrise to replace it.
But curiosity won out. “Do I want to know what that was about?”
The bartender chuckled and shook his head fondly.
Steve thought about saying something bitchy, but he really wanted his drinks for free and poking the bear was not a plan if he wanted that to happen, so kept his mouth shut.
The band came out and Steve knew he was in trouble. He objectively knew what the band looked like and vaguely knew who was who even. But all that blew out the fucking window in the face of Eddie Munson in the flesh.
Tight pants, leather jacket, shredded t-shirt, combat boots, and his hair whipping back and forth?
God, Steve was instantly horny and just as hard. He shifted in his pants and prayed that the tight pants kept his dick from showing too much. Otherwise, this was going be a very awkward evening.
He was listening to the band and bobbing along to the music when some dude over fifty came up to him.
“Name three songs off their third album,” he growled.
Steve blinked at him for a moment and then raised one eyebrow. “Dude, I’m just here for the booze. I’ve had a shit day just want to relax.”
“So you’re some townie who thinks that because this your fucked up hell hole that you can just take the spot of some real fan who wanted to see them more than you?”
Steve really didn’t know how to answer that. Because, yeah. That’s exactly what he thought.
“It’s not that serious,” Steve said, turning back to his drink. “They’re playing in both Indy and Bloomington. They can see them there instead of this dimly lit bar.” He mouthed ‘sorry’ to the bartender, who shrugged and tried to hide his smile.
“And how would you know that, asshole?” the guy growled.
Steve sighed and pointed to the sign behind the bar listing Corroded Coffin’s tour dates.
The guy whipped his head to look at the sign but before he could say anything else, Monty came up to the guy and quietly ushered him away, whispering furiously as the guy’s face paled.
The bartender shook his head. “These dudes never learn.”
Steve took a sip of his drink and set it down. “What’s that?”
“That the guys,” he pointed to the stage and Steve looked over his shoulder at the band kicking it on stage, he nodded, “don’t like it when fans try and gate keep. They can’t do jack shit at larger venues but place like this? They absolutely refuse to let that kind of shit go on.”
Steve looked over his shoulder just in time to catch Eddie winking at him. He blushed and turned bright red.
The bartender laughed before he moved on to take another order.

Why is everyone forgetting the Glass Legend had to have been a Master to become a Champion??
Contextually, there was the propaganda of levelling up no one BUT Evbo had been able to
So Glass had to have been a Master, had to have been BORN a Master
So why was he the easiest for Evbo to defeat? Why was he significantly worse at parkour than everyone else? Why was he only a Champion for 2 hours?
(listen to my bullshit below)
"That guy went before me? Be was only champion for 2 hours before I beat him" - Crystal Legend (paraphrased)
Crystal specifically says he beat Glass 2 hours after Glass became a Champion, this means that both had to have been masters at the same time
Now, could it be a thing of they both challenged the champion the same day but Glass got there earlier? Maybe. Maybe that's the most likely option
But I'm not here to give up at the most likely option
My theory is that Glass and Crystal were friends. Maybe even best friends.
We've seen that the Master caste system is less about surviving and more about reputation so, in this hypothetical world where you're only as cool as you show yourself to be in front of others, allies must be scare and friends even scarer
So, hypothetically, Glass and Crystal are best friends who train together, practice together, show up every day to get better and better at parkour in general and their specialties; each other being the only person who has seen them fail
However, since most Masters were shown to have wide levels of confidence and egoism, Crystal thought he was better than Glass Maybe even better than the champion
But why would Crystal risk his fabulous life to potentially die because of a parkour champion who ranked just under God
He wouldn't
Until Glass defeated the Champion.
Now, despite all the class induced self-absorbent nature, Crystal wouldn't want to just... defeat his best friend, right?
Maybe
But, if Crystal thinks he's better than Glass at Parkour, then someone else could be better, and that someone else wouldn't care what happens to Glass
And everyone except the noobs knows the Champions controls what happens
So, maybe, Crystal thought that if he defeated Glass as the better parkour master, then he could prevent Glass from dying and also being defeated by someone else
Two hours later, Crystal challenges Glass
And is getting his ass kicked
Because while Crystal was better at technical parkour, Glass was better with his specialty and continuously made more and more difficult parkour using glass that Crystal did not have much of
Crystal starts losing, starts running out of blocks, out of ideas, out of time.
And Glass knows this...
Glass was suppose to win.
....but he didn't.
He chose not to.
Glass was raised in an environment where its yourself first, its your reputation first, but he was fighting his best friend... the only person who has ever seen him fail, the only person who didn't leave him, didn't mock him for all these failures
Glass didn't want his best friend to die. He didn't want to be so selfish of a title he'd have to fight for--kill for--because he was so selfish to let his friend lose.
So Glass purposely fails. Over and over again until, finally, he slipped off.
Glass had lost.
Crystal was the new champion. And he felt so guilty for it "but why would crystal be so mean?"
Because, as Ice explained, the people Evbo were battling were only remnants of the real Legends, who all died long ago
Of course Glass, who was only champion for 2 hours, would be significantly worse at parkour in his remnant state He failed on purpose to protect his friend
Of course Crystal, who survived, would be cruel to Glass; Masters were shaped to be cruel, and this grief might've been corrupted to something akin to sarcasm, hatred, just... unable to remember anything but his victory over a failure of a champion
Because legends are word of mouth stories; they don't capture everything that was said and done.
And why would you be honest you've only gotten your title because someone took pity on you.
In conclusion; the inherit oppressive nature of the Masters class and reputation caused a rift between two best friends, and now their remnants are lost to this friendship because their legends were written with only half the truth.
#can anyone tell ive gone insane over this concept yet?#like wtf#the legends deserve more screen time fr fr#parkour civilization#parkour civilization the legends#parkour civilization legends#parkour civilization glass legend#parkour civilization crystal legend#evbo#parkour civilization evbo

You couldn’t believe it is going to end like this. Your years on Earth, coming to a close, because you were thirsty. You are an idiot.
It wasn’t entirely your fault, however. It is his fault too. He’s the one that poisoned you, instead of being a decent human being. Just because you accepted a glass of water, does not mean you consented to dying. Wonwoo is a terrible person, and you did walk straight into his trap.
As you struggle to keep your eyes open, the world in front of you going blurry, you can’t help but think back to what led to you being here. How hungry you were for the facts, for the story. It was going to be your big break into journalism, and you would finally be able to carve your own island out in the field.
You had followed Wonwoo for weeks, making notes of his comings and goings. Who he was meeting with. What he even had for breakfast (he usually nibbled on some kind of muffin while walking to his office building, a coffee in his other hand). You were trying to follow the money, and you were so close to exposing him.
Little did you know that he had been watching you too. Which is how he ended up inviting you to dinner at his penthouse, saying he would give you an interview of a lifetime. He made, as a one Don Corleone had said, an offer you couldn’t refuse.
“What di- did you give me?” you mumble, your head drooping slightly.
Wonwoo simply chuckles, clearly amused with how you’re fighting what he slipped you. “Don’t worry about it. It’s painless. It’s just like going to sleep,” he assures you, before taking a small sip of his wine.
Well, he isn’t wrong about that. It does feel like you want to sleep. Just drift off and not have to worry about anything again. It would be easy. Painless, like he said. Your eyes start to flutter close, but you shake your head and snap them open as wide as you can. “No. I’m no— call the police,” you say weakly, slapping the table to find your phone.
You hear him chuckle as he reaches for your phone and slides it towards him, watching you with interest. “Hm. You’re adorable when you’re stubborn.”
“Shuddup. ‘M not.” You frown at him and blink wearily, his figure turning into a faceless blob. “My phone,” you whine as you start to slump over the table.
Wonwoo finishes his wine and sighs, leaning back in his chair as he picks up your phone. “Cute lock screen. Is that your cat?” he asks, though he’s not expecting an answer from you.
You let out a whine as fear overtakes you, your eyes finally shutting. “You’ll never getwaythis…”
The last thing you remember before the darkness overtook you was hearing Wonwoo laugh at your utterances. “Whatever you say, ace.”
———————————————————————
Funny. You didn’t think you could dream when you were dead. It wasn’t exactly sugar plums, but visions drifted in and out of your mind. Your parents, friends, Henry (you prayed someone would take care of him when you are gone, the gremlin of a cat) were all present… memories, maybe? Was this what they meant when they said that your life would flash before your eyes?
You can feel warmth on your face, which only confuses you even more. It’s bright, even through your eyelids. Was it the bright light that greets you in death? No one ever says it’s warm. It’s comforting. You can’t help but smile at the feel of it, and snuggle further down into the sheets.
Wait.
You wiggle your fingers, and they move. You sit up in the bed and blink your eyes open, heart pounding as you take in the fact that you’re still alive. Alive and in an unfamiliar room. You aren’t sure if you should be overjoyed or scared. Instead, you let out a yelp as you try to scramble out of the bed.
Where the hell are you? What happened last night? Every possibility and scenario races through your head as you get tangled in the sheets and fall out of the bed to the floor with a loud thump. You groan as you roll on to your back, trying not to cry as you hear a knock on the door.
“Are you decent?” a gruff voice asks through the door.
You pause at the question and glance down at yourself, letting out a sigh of relief when you realize you are, in fact, fully clothed. You scowl as you slowly push yourself to your feet and cautiously step towards the door, folding your arms over your chest. “What the fuck did you do to me?” you demand in a harsh whisper, not wanting to open the door quite yet.
You hear him laugh from the hallway, clearly amused with you. “Nothing. Well… I carried you to the bed after you passed out from the sleeping pills that were in your water… but other than that, nothing. I promise.”
Anger rolls through you at his words, and you yank the door open to find him leaning against the door frame with a nonchalant look on his face. “You did WHAT?!” You aren’t sure you heard him right, you couldn’t have.
Wonwoo rolls his eyes at you and runs a hand through his cropped hair. “You looked like you were in some desperate need of sleep, so I helped. You’re welcome.” He pauses as his eyebrows shoot up at your angry, yet confused, expression. “You didn’t actually think I poisoned you, did you?” he asks, a small smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.
Your blood is boiling at the look on his face, his stupid face with his stupid glasses. But he wasn’t wrong. You did think he poisoned you, but it wasn’t like he didn’t give you a reason not to believe it. And, you guess in a way he did actually do it. “What do you call slipping me sleeping pills in my water? A sweetener?” you nearly yell at him.
“No. I call it a helping hand. I’m a businessman, not a murderer, ace. Killing people isn’t a good look for my company,” he teases as he stands up straight.
You take a step back, your hand still gripping the doorknob tightly as you glance him up and down. You couldn’t deny that he looked good in his oversized white t-shirt and gray sweats, at home casual seemed to suit him more than business casual. Has his shoulders always been so… wide? You meet his eyes and huff when you see the satisfied look in his eyes, scowling at him again. “Well, does your “helping hand” mean keeping me hostage? Or am I free to go?”
Wonwoo steps back and gestures to let you pass him, watching as you stalk into the hallway. “Your things are by the front door. I can call a driver to take you home, if you want,” he offers. He waits for a reply and shrugs when you don’t give one, tucking his hands into his sweatpants. “Though, if you leave now, you won’t get your interview.”
You stop at his words, a small struggle brewing inside you. Leave, and you can rid yourself of this monster and this whole ordeal. But then you won’t get what you’ve been after all these weeks. The truth. Straight from the man (and you use that term very loosely in this case) himself. The temptation is too great.
He knows exactly what he’s doing. Fuck him. You’re not going to play into his hand so easily.
“Complete and unadulterated truth? Everything?”
“Everything.”
Fuck. You slowly turn to face him with a heavy sigh, knowing he has you. So much for not so easily. “Fine. But no open containers from you.”
He grins at you as he walks past, tapping your chin lightly. “You have a bit of dried drool right there,” he comments as he makes his way back out to the living room.
~*~*~*~*~
It’s not too long until you’re both seated in his home office, him behind his desk with a mug of coffee while you sit in a plush armchair on the opposite side (no drink for you, for obvious reasons). Your voice recorder is on and sitting on his desktop, and a pen is poised in your hand as you stare at him. You narrow your eyes as you study him, his own eyes dropped to his phone as he typed out a text. “Are you busy or…”
He hums in acknowledgment and takes a sip of his coffee, not looking up as he finishes his typing. “Sorry. Urgent business.” He finally sets his phone down and directs his attention towards you, offering you a small smile. “Okay. Go ahead, ace. Ask away.”
You roll your eyes at the nickname, tapping your pen against your pad of paper. “Right. Mind telling me what the urgent business was?” you ask, nodding to his phone.
“When you run a multi-million dollar corporation, everything is urgent business,” he jokes. “Right now, we’re in the middle of trying to acquire some land in Denmark. Trying to set up a regional office there, so we can run our European operations a little more smoothly,” he explains. “So far, it’s been a lot of back and forth. If you know anything about Denmark business or land law, you’d be a great asset right about now.”
You shake your head as you scribble some notes down, not bothering to look up as you ask your next question. “Don’t you have lawyers to sort out all that? Or are they around to just make it all look legal?”
Wonwoo quirks an eyebrow up at your question, tapping his fingers against the side of his mug. “We do have lawyers, but not every lawyer is an expert in every law.” He pauses as he sips his coffee, studying you as he does so. “And I always make sure everything I do regarding my business is legal.”
You scoff in disbelief, your eyes catching his as you look back up. “I doubt that. A company as big as yours can’t always do legitimate business,” you mutter. “And I find it ver—“
“Now hold on,” he interrupts, sitting up and leaning forward in his chair. “Is that why you’re so interested in me? You think I’m some kind of criminal?” He, of course, knows what you think, but he wants you to say it out loud. He never would have asked you to meet for dinner if he didn’t know. That, and he definitely had enough of you following him.
Your cheeks warm with embarrassment, but you square your shoulders off as you sit straighter. “Yes. I think you’ve had some illegal business dealings, or you know about it within your company and are covering it up,” you answer, your fingers nervously fidgeting with your pen. “I believe you’ve cheated for your success, and you and your company need to be exposed.”
He can’t help but grin at your words, though he manages to hold back his laughter. It is a ridiculous accusation, of course. Hearing it out loud just made it seem even more so. “So, you thought following me around was going to reveal this big giant scandal?” He pauses as he chuckles lowly, leaning back in his chair. “Ace, you could have saved yourself a lot of trouble, and just asked me straight out in the beginning,” he tells you.
You narrow your eyes at him as he speaks, holding back a scoff. “Would you have told me the truth?”
“Yes. I have no reason to lie to you.”
You study him for a moment, trying to find any scrap of deceit. It’s frustrating that you can’t find one. Either he is an expert liar, or he’s telling the truth. Maybe you’re just shit at reading people, which would make you a pretty shitty reporter. “And I have no reason to believe you,” you finally say, dropping your gaze back down to your notepad.
A tense silence falls between the two of you, and it seems to stretch for hours. Though, it is less than thirty seconds before Wonwoo speaks again. “Look, this relationship isn’t going to work if there’s no… trust betwe—“
“Trust?!” you nearly screech at him. “Trust was tossed out the fucking window when you drugged me! So, I don’t think trust is ever going to be something I have in you.”
Wonwoo frowns at your words and stands to his feet. “I think trust was gone the minute you started suspecting me and following me around the city,” he pointed out, leaning forward over the desk with his palms flat on the wood.
Another silence as you let his words roll around in your head. He wasn’t wrong. You never actually trusted him, but there was no chance of it now, that much is certain.
He sighs and stands up straight again, pulling his glasses off. “I know I shouldn’t have drugged you,” he starts, pinching the bridge of his nose. “That was wrong, and honestly, reckless of me. I am sorry.”
You blink in surprise at his words and the sincerity in his voice. That’s not what you are expecting. An apology.
“But you need to learn when to take a break and get some rest. You’ve been stuck to me like a goddamn shadow, trying to find anything I’ve done wrong. Which, fine, but you’re like a dog with a bone. You won’t let go until you’re satisfied,” he continues with a half amused look. “It’s kind of cute. Your tenacity. I admire it.”
Your cheeks warm as he speaks, and you shake your head. You didn’t want to admit he was right, that you did need a break, but you knew you had to get this story. You clear your throat as your gaze drops to your notepad, scrunching your nose. “My mother calls it stubbornness. It caused her many headaches during my childhood.”
Wonwoo smiles as you speak, studying you carefully. He notices a softness to your edge when you speak about your mom, and can’t help but be a little endeared by it. He reaches for his phone again and unlocks it, muttering under his breath as he scrolls through it.
You look back up at him, confused, and watch him as he mumbles. “What are you doing? More important business?” you ask, furrowing your brows.
“Next Sunday. You’re coming with me to a garden party one of my business partners is hosting. Maybe it’ll give you some insight to what it is I am doing at my business,” he tells you as he looks back at you with raised brows.
You scoff at him and shake your head again. “You expect me to listen to you and just go with you to this party? You don’t even ask, you demand me to? What if I have plans? I can’t just drop what I’m doing and jump at your commands,” you reply with annoyance. Of course, your only plans that day are to nap with Henry and stuff your face with waffles, but he didn’t need to know that. He didn’t need to know that Sundays are your bra and pant free days.
Wonwoo raises an eyebrow at you, tilting his head to the side as he questions you. “Do you have other plans? I just figured you’d end up following me around anyway, you might as well have an invite to the party.”
Your mouth opens and closes a couple times as no words come to you, before you scoff again as you shake your head. “Fine. I’ll go. Not because you demand it, but because I can use it for my story,” you relent, doing your best to ignore the look of victory on his face.
—————————————————————
You draw in a deep breath and let it out slowly, smoothing your hands down the side of your thighs nervously. You are standing outside the entrance to the botanical gardens, where you are supposed to meet Wonwoo for the work party he invited you to, and you suddenly want to turn around and run back home.
You nod once and are about to turn around, when a hand comes to rest lightly on your lower back. You jump slightly at the sudden presence, turning your head to see Wonwoo looking at you with a small smile. “Shit, you’re like a cat sneaking up like that. I should get you a bell,” you mutter, looking back at the gardens.
He chuckles and lets his hand drop, studying your profile. “Hm. I think I’m the one who should get you one, with how you follow me around. I think a collar would look good on you,” he teases, your skin instantly on fire at his words. “So, are you ready to rub elbows with some powerful people?”
You clear your throat, hoping to hide any effect his words had on you, and you straighten your blazer. “No, but I don’t really have a choice if I want this story.” You let out another long sigh and shake your head. “I feel severely underdressed, and this is my best pantsuit.”
Wonwoo steps back to look you over, tilting his head to the side. “You look great. Green is your color. You only need a collar to complete the look,” he jokes, before he steps off towards the entrance. “Come on. All the good hors d'oeuvres are going to be gone if we keep standing out here.”
You watch as he steps up to the security, your mind reeling from the mental whiplash. He really is an insufferable man. Insufferable and incredibly sexy in his light blue suit. It fit him perfectly, and hugged him in all the right places. Seriously, has he always been that broad?! You scrunch your nose at your own thoughts and silently curse yourself and the man you follow into the party.
-*-*-*-*-
Bored. You are actually bored. You did not think it was possible, but here you are, champagne glass in one hand and a tiny cucumber sandwich in the other, bored of listening to all the business talk. Not a single person had let anything juicy slip. No shady deals, no illicit affairs, not even someone discussing a traffic ticket. You sigh and tip back the rest of your mimosa, before shoving the sandwich into your mouth. Well, at least you got free snacks and drinks out of it.
You chew slowly as you turn around, freezing when you see Wonwoo staring at you with an amused look on his face, though he is nodding at the person he is talking with. He reaches up and pokes his cheek, before turning his full attention to his companion.
You mirror his actions and poke your own cheek, your eyes going wide at how puffy it is. You must look like a hamster with food shoved into its cheeks, the way you feel the sandwich there. You finish chewing and swallow, looking around and hoping no one else noticed your uncouth actions.
Though you don’t see anyone paying attention to you, you decide that it is better to dismiss yourself from the party. It seems like as good a time as any to do a little exploring of the gardens. Maybe it’ll give you a chance to leave completely unnoticed.
“Trying to escape so soon?”
Wonwoo’s sudden presence once again startles you, and you jump a little as your heart nearly shoots out of your chest. “Fucking hell! Seriously. Make a noise or something,” you grumble, crossing your arms over your chest.
He can’t help but laugh at your reaction, his hand resting against the small of your back as you both start walking away from the crowd. “I did. I said something.”
You roll your eyes, trying to ignore the effect his touch is having on you. How you wish it is more than his hand on you. “Before you sneak up on someone.” You pause as you glance at him quickly, only to find him looking back at you. “Anyway, I’m not— okay, yeah, I am trying to escape. You didn’t tell me how boring this would be,” you relent with a sigh.
Wonwoo let out a low chuckle and shrugged one shoulder, tucking his hands into his pockets. “Yeah, the daytime parties are usually pretty lame. Now, dinner parties and cocktail hours? That’s where all the excitement is,” he jokes, following you as you turn down a side path.
You snort and shake your head, a tiny smile tugging at the corners of your mouth. “You’ll have to invite me to one of those. Maybe I’ll actually get something to write about.” You pause your walk as you read a sign about the foliage, sighing quietly. “You really do everything above board, huh?”
He looks over at you, studying your profile carefully, and nods once. “I told you. Now, do we toe the line with how things get done? Sometimes. I like to push and be aggressive with some things, but I never do anything illegal. Questionable, maybe, but always legal.” He adjusts his glasses and shrugs again. “Losing my business isn’t worth it.”
You bite your lip, feeling ashamed of having suspected him of anything nefarious. Aside from drugging you with sleeping pills, that is. You don’t say anything as you take a right towards another section of the gardens, leaving him to follow after you once again. Your thoughts are swirling in your head, and suddenly his presence is making it hard to think straight. Or maybe it was the three or four mimosas you had.
“I was the first in my family to graduate from college, you know. My parents either didn’t want to do college, or they couldn’t afford it, but they made sure I went,” he says after a moment. “I started this business from the ground up, worked my ass off. I took out loans, nearly went bankrupt. Hell, I lived with my parents for longer than I wanted just to save anything I could.”
You furrow your brow as you come to a stop in front of a small white building, large windows on either side of a stained glass door. You knew he had started the business, but you didn’t know everything he had gone through. Now you feel like a total asshole. “So, no mob connections, huh?” you crack half-heartedly as you push open the door.
He scoffs as he follows you inside, shaking his head at you. “No, sorry to disappoint.” He blinks as he looks around, looking slightly confused. “Where are we?”
You shrug as you look around, your eyes finding a plaque on the wall. You cross over to read it, groaning quietly. “This is where they house the most poisonous plants. Says here, ‘among them are oleander, nightshade, mistletoe, and foxglove’. Huh. I don’t think I knew mistletoe was poisonous.”
Wonwoo can’t help but laugh as he wanders over to a cluster of two foot tall stalks with an assortment of colored flowers. “These are poisonous?” He crouches down to read the small sign staked into the ground in front of them, raising his eyebrows. “Foxglove. They look too pretty to be deadly.”
You swallow as he speaks, licking your lips as your eyes move over him. “Could say the same thing about you,” you mutter under your breath.
“What?”
“Nothing!” You clear your throat as he stands, turning away from him towards a padded bench at the center of the building. You sit and smooth your hands over your thighs, doing your best to ignore the amused look on Wonwoo’s face.
He stands and moves to sit next to you, sitting with his body angled towards you. “You still think I’m deadly?” he asks.
You roll your eyes and scooch back from him a tiny bit. Space is necessary between you two. “You did drug me the other night. So, yeah. And you’re wrong, about not doing anything illegal. That seems like a pretty illegal thing to do,” you point out, raising your eyebrows at him.
He grimaces and lets his head drop in shame. “That really wasn’t my finest moment. Good intentions carried out in a horrendous way.” He pauses as he looks back up at you, apology written all over his face. “I really shouldn’t have done it. I don’t think I can ever apologize enough. And honestly, I don’t ever expect you to forgive me for it. I wish I would have made a better impression on you,” he finishes, his voice quiet as he reaches up to brush hair from your forehead.
You draw in a slow breath as his fingertips brush your hairline, your skin feeling as if it were on fire. “I wish you did too,” you reply in a near whisper.
He leans in as he rests his palm against your jaw, studying you carefully. “Will you let me try to make it up to you? I know I never could fully, but I could give it my best shot,” he says softly, his thumb ghosting across your bottom lip.
“You can do your best.”
And with that, his lips meet yours. His hand keeps a hold of your jaw as his lips move over yours, allowing you to deepen it if you wish, even if he wants to. He shifts slightly so he can move closer to you, relieved that you don’t move away again.
Your heart is crashing within your chest as you kiss, and you reach up to rest a hand on his wrist. You want more, and you are surprised at yourself for nearly craving it. You furrow your brow as you allow yourself to deepen the kiss, brushing your tongue across his lips. Your other hand finds its way to the side of his neck, holding him to you as his tongue tangles with yours.
The kiss only lasts for seconds, though it feels like minutes. You finally break away and are breathing heavily, eyes closed as you rest your forehead against his. “Well… um… that’s a good start… I guess,” you breathe.
He scoffs at your words, though amused, and pulls you to him again. This time, the kiss is more intense, as if he’s trying to prove something to you. You suppose, in a way, he is. How sorry he is. How he’s innocent of anything you think him of. How much he actually wants you.
You start to lay back as you two continue to kiss, wrapping an arm around his shoulders so you can keep him close to you. You’re grateful when he moves with you, hovering over you on the bench. You don’t even care if you're in the middle of poisonous plants, or that you’re even in a public area. You just want him, and it’s clear he wants you too.
He finally separates from your mouth, only to trail his lips down your face and to your neck. “You look so fucking sexy in this suit. No shirt under the blazer,” he mumbles against your skin, before dragging his tongue down between your breasts. “I was praying for the slightest peek this whole time.”
You can’t help the whine that escapes you as he speaks and kisses you, your back arching into his touch. “No one was going to get one. I made sure of it,” you joke with a half laugh.
“I’ll have to get a good look later then.” He lifts his head to look up at you, a cat-like smirk pulled across his lips. “Right now, I am trying to do my best,” he adds teasingly.
You don’t get a chance to reply before he lifts himself up a little, his fingers finding the buttons to your pants quickly. Your eyes go wide as you watch him quickly undo them, though you don’t try to stop him. “Jeon Wonwoo, do you mean to fuck me in front of the foxglove and mistletoe?” you hiss.
He shrugs as he tugs your pants down to your ankles, pulling your underwear with them. He stands and quickly does the same with his own pants and briefs. “I mean to fuck you in front of the foxglove and mistletoe,” he says as he lays back down over you again, his hand finding your pussy.
A moan falls from your mouth as his fingers slowly tease your clit, and you know he can feel the wetness pooling between your legs. You never had someone get you this wet this fast, and you certainly weren’t complaining. You spread your legs as much as you can, with your pants literally around your ankles, as he slips a finger inside you.
“I can’t wait until I can really get to know you. Make sure I explore everything about you,” he whispers into your ear, his thumb circling your clit slowly. “When we’re not surrounded by plants that could actually kill you.”
You let out a breathy laugh at his words, though your mind is too hazy to fully comprehend what he is saying. Before you can say anything in response, his finger leaves you so he can wrap his hand around himself. You lick your lips as he lines himself up, your eyes finding him as he teases you with his tip. “If you don’t stop that, I will push you into a plant,” you threaten, though you know there’s no way it’d ever happen.
He chuckles and slowly pushes himself into you, causing you to gasp in pleasure. “You feel better than I imagine, ace. So fucking good,” he moans as feels you clench around him.
You move your hips against him, hoping it would get him to move. You fist his jacket in your hands as his cock hits your spot just right, whining as you match his thrusts. You hold him to you tightly, biting on his collar to keep from being too loud. The last thing you want is for someone to find you two, and ruin a good thing.
He speeds up his thrusts, panting into your neck as you match his pace. The urgency to finish doesn’t diminish the pleasure for either of you, nor does the threat of being caught. Wonwoo would swear that it is actually making you more excited, even if you don’t realize it.
It’s not too long before you can feel the coil tighten in you, and you find his lips with yours once again. This time, the kiss is messier, more desperate, and needy. You need him, as much as he needs you. Both of you chasing your high in the middle of some greenhouse, sweating through the fabric of your suit jackets.
You can feel the tip of his cock drag across your g-spot, bringing you closer and closer. You clench down as he thrusts into you hard, hitting you deeper, and it sends you spiraling. You keep your lips locked with his, tongues tangled together as your orgasm hits you in waves.
He helps you ride it out, which only brings him to his own climax. He finally pulls back from you, nearly gasping for breath as he spills into you. His quiet groans fill your ears as he slows his movements, before he finally stops and holds himself above you on his elbows.
You are breathing hard as you look up at him, reaching up to wipe the sweat off his forehead with a laugh. “Well, you might be on the right track,” you tease softly.
He grins at your words, before pressing a light kiss to the tip of your nose. “Good.” He pauses as he glances around, before resting his forehead against yours. “We should get out of here, before both of us are literally caught with our pants down,” he whispers.
You hum in agreement and smile. “Yeah. And now I’m going to have to find another story.”
Wonwoo lifts his head and smiles down at you, tipping his head to the side as he studies you for a moment. “You really think I’m pretty?”

Truth or Dare PT2
Pairings: BestFriend!JJ x BestFriend!Fem!Reader
Warnings: Squirting, oral (both), 69, embarrassment, Rafe calling, p in v, etc.
Summary: Part 2 of TorD
Authors Note: Don't know why this posted by itself again, but it was also not finished. I hope you enjoy it and if you want a part 3 let me know!
When you finally came down from your high, your cheeks were burning from embarrassment. You just pissed yourself in front of JJ, or so you thought. "I-I'm sorry. I don't know what happened...I tried to tell you." You responded to JJ as you got off of him and onto the bed. You hugged your knees to your chest and tried not to cry. "You have no idea what you just did, do you baby?" He smiled lightly to himself. You shook your head and hid in your lap. "I just pissed myself on my hot best friend's lap." You sounded like you were about to cry.
You felt a pair of hands lightly pushing your knees apart. You fought him but when he finally got them open, he placed kisses to your heat. This only caused more embarrassment. You squeezed your legs together, only slightly crushing his head between your thighs so he would back away, but it only caused him to moan. "Damn baby, keep doin that." He said continuing his licks. "The squeezing or the pissing?" You say annoyed.
JJ's hands grabbed your hips and pulled you towards him. He was now hovering you with his right hand holding him up. "Stop saying that." He said as stern and as serious as he could. "I'm sorry.." You say sweetly. He gently tucked a piece of hair that had fallen in your face, behind your ear. "You have nothing to be sorry for baby."
The heat rose to your cheeks again. Of course you did. It was the most embarrassing thing that could have happened in that moment. "Can we just lay down.. I'm not really in the mood anymore, and you said we have things to talk about." You say trying to hide yourself.
"As much as I'd love to talk about how I cockblocked Rafe, I'm more interested in talking about how you just squirted." He stifled a laugh. "Those two things sound beautiful together. I cockblocked Rafe from you then I made you squirt. Fuck." His dick twitched in his pants, but you didn't notice because you were processing his words. "Squirt?" You asked, you had no idea what that meant. He giggled to himself. "Basically you reached your peak but harder. Not everyone can do that though, you're talented." He reached over and rubbed your thigh. "Is that a good thing though?" You asked. "It's fucking amazing. It means our bodies work well together." JJ saw the look of relief come over your face as he smiled. He gave your forehead a little kiss. "Okay baby, serious question now that that is all cleared up." He seemed hesitant. "Are you actually done cause I need to know if I have to go wring myself out or not." His question caused laughter to erupt from you. "Let me take care of you. It's only fair."
JJ relieved himself of his clothes and climbed on the bed. Just as your lips were getting ready to touch his tip he spoke. "Wait- can we try something..?" He cautiously asked. You nodded in excitement as he described what he wanted to do.
You ended up sitting on his face and had his dick in your mouth. Being in 69 with JJ is not where you thought you'd be tonight. The sounds of moans and slurping and gagging are filling the room. Apparently the two of you don't care if Sarah and John B hear you. To be fair they've kept you both up before.
Just as you started sucking on JJ's balls, your phone began to ring. You stopped what you were doing to check it. "Who is it?" JJ asks taking his lips away long enough to only ask that question. "Rafe.." You responded. "Answer it." He sounds more bossy this time. He reattached his lips to your lower ones making a moan slip from you.
You answered the call waiting for him to speak first, but you heard a groan on the other side. "Hi, Y/N..I think our call dis-disconnected earlier. I've been trying to reach you since." He stumbled out. "So-sorry rrrafe" JJ's tongue was working wonders. "Put it on speaker baby." JJ whispered beneath you. You complied. "Are you touching yourself again baby?" You didn't know how to answer and JJ slapped your ass making you yelp a "yes" into the phone.
Suddenly you felt a hand reach up and steal your phone. He sucked on you harder and made it way louder than it needed to be. "Actually I'm touching her. Let me just say, she tastes so fucking good." He smirks into your pussy. He stuck his tongue into your hole which released a loud moan from your lips. "Is this some kind of fucking joke?" Rafe sounded angry.
JJ pulled his mouth away from you and slipped to fingers in to replace it. He was going just as fast as he did before. "You hear how wet her pussy is for me? If only you fucking knew." He announced. You couldn't help the tingling in your lower area. It was that same feeling that JJ introduced you to before. "Fuck! I'm gonna squirt Jayj." You couldn't help but scream out, Rafe definitely heard you. Before you could move, you were releasing your juices onto JJ's face. The moans that came from you were heavenly and JJ was almost stunned.
"I'd love to sit and chit-chat with you Cameron but as you can clearly hear, I'm busy." JJ said and hung up the phone. You got out of the position you were in so you could look at JJ. He looked shocked and so fucking happy. "I'm sorry JJ." You felt so bad. "That was so fucking amazing." He was on a high and he didn't even cum. His muscular arms pulled you closer and he pushed his lips to yours. He lifted you onto his lap as your make out became more heated. Your pussy found his cock and you began to grind on it, causing him to moan into your mouth.
You took this advantage and slipped onto his dick. The most pornstar sounding moan spilled from his mouth as you lowered yourself. "Fuck you're gonna ruin me baby." He gasped.

Blooming🌼
Summary: You’ve been in the group since the start and have always liked Carl but once you see Enid moving into your territory you get jealous
•Masterlist•
You grew close to Carl at the prison, you were both the same age so it was easy to get along, you were there for him when his mom died and when the prison fell you were scared you’d never see him again but when Carol found you and helped you survive she found the other leading to you seeing Carl again when you Tyrese and Judith coming out of the cabin
He hugged Judith tight then came over and squeezed me so tight as I did the same, hearing his quiet cry’s
You were there for eachother on the road and always shared body heat at night to keep warm and now you were all in Alexandria and even though you were all in the same house it felt like Carl was slipping away from you
You were walking to the gardens with Maggie when you saw Carl and this girl Enid kissing, and it felt like your heart was being crushed, you quickly looked away and Maggie noticed
She’d grown to be like a sister to you and she could tell when something was wrong
“You okay?” She asked
“I’m fine” you lied as you finally got to the garden
“I can tell when you’re not…..is it about Carl?” She asked making you look at her shocked
“How did you know?”
“Come on y/n I know you, I’ve seen the way you act around Carl since you both were little at the farm, and now you’re both grown up and you still treat him like the center of your universe, everyone sees it”
You sighed knowing you couldn’t hide it anymore
“It hurts Maggie, I thought he liked me back, I mean maybe he just sees me as a best friend but I was just holding onto hope that maybe he felt something more……and now he’s with her and it just hurts so much” you cried finally feeling everything you’ve been bottling up to yourself
“Oh sweetie I’m sorry” she said as she sat beside you and wrapped her arms around you
“He doesn’t even hang out with me anymore he’s always with her, he’s pushed me away and I feel so lonely” you said into her chest as she held you tight
“It’ll be okay, you have all of us but I know you have a different hurt, it’s your first heartbreak sweetie but you know I’m always here” she said holding you back so she could see you and wiping your tears
“I know I just hate feeling like this, I just miss him so much”
Maggie obviously told Glenn and the others because you were all one big family so when you entered the house later that evening you saw the sad look some people gave you as your face was puffy and red from crying so much
“Ya alright?” Daryl asked from beside you
“I don’t know”
“He’s stupid fer not wanting ya” he said trying to sooth you in his own way
“Thanks Daryl” you smiled at him weakly
“It’ll be alright kid” he said before walking to his spot in the living room where he slept
You went and laid on the book corner ledge by the window, a lot of you slept in the living room still needing that reassurance, you turned and looked out the window seeing Carl walking up the porch
“What are you doing out so late?” Rick asked as he was at the kitchen island
“Just had to finish some things” he said looking over at you as you were all watching the interaction
Everyone went to sleep and you couldn’t close your eyes without seeing them kissing then you felt someone poking you, you rolled over and it was Carl standing above you
“Hey can I talk to you?” He whispered as you nodded and he sat next to you as you also sat up
“I know you saw me and Enid kiss earlier, I’m sorry”
“Why are you sorry?”
“Cause I know how you took it, I didn’t really wanna kiss her, she kinda just kissed me and I didn’t know what to do”
“Do you like her?” You knew some people were listening it wasn’t hard to tell when they kept moving around
“Not like that, not like how I like you” he said as he held your hand, your heart was pumping so hard
“And how do you like me?” You asked nervous
“I don’t like you, I love you, of course I love you”
“Really? You love me”
“I’ve always wanted you, when I first saw you I knew you were it for me, even with all this chaos going on”
“I love you too Carl” you smiled as he pulled you into a hug
He leaned back and looked at you lips
“Can I?”
“Please” you whined having waited for this for so long
He leaned in and it was the sweetest kiss as he held you closer and the kiss deepened
“You’re my everything Carl” you said when he pulled back
“And you’re mine” that night you held eachother close as you fell asleep in his arms
He was finally yours

Hearts Unleashed (Part 5)
Pairing: Nick Nelson x Black!fem!reader

The weekend flew by, and before I knew it, Monday had arrived with its usual speed. I found myself back in the same classroom, at the same place and time, but something felt a little different. Nick and I had been texting non-stop over the weekend. It was just casual conversation, nothing special, but for some reason, it made me inexplicably happy.
I noticed a bunch of curly black hair in front of me. Charlie and I hadn't talked since that day. I sent him a bunch of texts, but he didn't reply. I checked with Ellie and Tao, and they hadn't heard from him either. It wasn't just me he was avoiding; it seemed like he was avoiding everyone.
Interrupting my thoughts, Nick said, "This is Nellie," showing me a picture of his dog, and she was the cutest thing in the world.
"Oh, my god, she's so cute! I've always wanted to have a pet, but ever since our cat died when I was little, we just never got a new one," I said, a tinge of sadness in my voice.
Nick's brows furrowed in concern, a cute little habit that I couldn't help but notice when he was puzzled or concerned about something. "You know, maybe you should come round to my house and meet her. Plus, my mom has been bugging me to invite you over" he suggested. I couldn't contain the smile that spread across my face, I don't know if it was because of Nick's mom has been asking about me or Nick inviting me to his house.
"Are you free on Saturday?" he asked hopefully, his brown eyes searching mine.
"Yeah, I think so," I replied, feeling a flutter in my stomach.

"Charlie! Charlie! Wait up!" I yelled across the bustling school hallway, dodging through students those rugby drills are finally proving some use.
Finally catching up to him, I took a moment to catch my breath. "What happened with you? I've been calling and texting you. I was even this close to coming to your house to make sure you were alive," I said, demonstrating the minuscule gap between my thumb and forefinger to prove my point.
Charlie turned to me, his face a mix of surprise and sheepishness. "Sorry, I've been dealing with some stuff, and I needed a bit of space. Didn't mean to worry you."
I crossed my arms, trying to hide my concern behind a facade of annoyance. "A simple 'I need space' text would have sufficed, you know."
He scratched his head, a nervous grin appearing on his face. "Yeah, I know. I'll keep you in the loop next time. Promise."
As we walked, the tension melted away, and our usual banter resumed. Charlie might not be telling me everything, but our friendship stayed solid, thankfully.
"Ugh, I've got a ton to catch you up on," I exclaimed, pulling him into a tight hug. His laughter filled the air. "Do I detect some juicy gossip?" he teased, a cheeky grin spreading across his face. Even though I haven't talked with him for a couple of days, I still couldn't help but miss him. I had every right to be mad, but I knew deep down Charlie was keeping something from me, but it was within his right to tell me when he is ready.
"Oh, you have no idea," I replied, joining in the laughter.
"You look fine, sweetheart," my mother remarked as she emerged from the archway. She must have noticed my tenth attempt at fixing my hair and the frustrated sigh that accompanied it. Admittedly, I may or may not have put on a little makeup. Sensing my mom's curious gaze, I decided to address it before she could.
"I'm going to a friend's house. I'll be back around 5," I informed her, trying to keep it casual.
"Are you heading over to Charlie's?"
I hesitated for a moment, then replied, "Um, no, his name is Nick," hoping my response would slip past without her catching the name. My mother, sensing something, walked over to me and handed me my coat and gloves, well aware of my tendency to get cold easily. I was honestly not made for cold weather.
"Is this a boy from school? You know how I feel about you going to somebody's house," she probed, hinting at her concerns. I knew I had to choose my words carefully to navigate this conversation if I wanted to be allowed to leave the house.
"He's my classmate in English. I want him to look over my paper that's due next week," I lied, maintaining a calm tone and hoping she wouldn't see through the deception.
"You've never needed help with your papers before. You're really good at writing," she remarked, clearly skeptical of my story.
"This paper is 50% of my grade. I have to do well on it," I asserted, emphasizing the importance of the assignment and knowing that grades were a language my mother understood well. Having dealt with her expectations back home, I knew I had to convince her to let me go.
She looked pleasantly surprised. "Yes, you're right. Grades are important. I'm surprised I didn't have to remind you," she smiled, genuinely pleased to see me showing concern for my academic performance. Seizing the moment, I quickly put on my coat and gloves, ready to head out the door.
"Come back in time for dinner!" she yelled as I walked away. I gave a quick nod to show I heard and hurried off before she could ask more questions.
My hands were practically freezing, despite the gloves doing a lousy job of keeping the cold out. I stubbornly kept them on, pulled my coat tighter, and power-walked down the street. The bone-chilling London winter seemed to pierce right through me, making me pick up the pace even more.
I stood there for a moment, torn between knocking and ringing the doorbell. My indecisiveness was playing its usual tricks on me. But before I could finally decide, the door swung open. There was Nick, giving me a gentle smile.
"Hey," he greeted. It was kinda unexpected to see him so chill and casual, a side of him I hadn't really seen beyond the school environment.
"Hey," I smiled back, deciding to ditch my gloves that weren't doing much to fight off the cold anyway.
Nick made a gesture towards a delightful chocolate and white mix Border Collie. "Uh... this is Nellie."
"Hey, Nellie. You're so adorable," Reaching down to pet the dog behind its ears. The warmth of Nellie's fur against my hand brought an unexpected comfort, making the chilly weather outside seem momentarily forgotten.
"Did you do something with your hair?" he asked, his eyes locked onto my puff ponytail that had consumed a good chunk of my morning. Lately, I'd been experimenting with new hairstyles, breaking away from my usual braids.
I immediately reached up to touch my hair, a hint of worry crossing my face. "Wait, is it bad?"
He shook his head without hesitation, offering a reassuring grin. "No, you look… it looks great." His compliment made me feel like the effort I put into styling my hair that morning was totally worth it.
"Okay, you better come in before Nellie thinks we're going for a walk," he said, his eyes lingering on mine for a moment longer than necessary.
"Okay"
Walking into his house, I couldn't help but notice how incredibly homey it was. The place just radiated coziness, making it clear that it wasn't just a house; it was a warm and welcoming home. Definitely nothing compared to mine, my house was just cold and empty still filled with boxes. I noticed a few portraits on the wall, nowhere really of his dad. Which I have nothing to brag since my parents have been divorce.
He led me upstairs to his bedroom, which I couldn't help but feel uneasy, like it was way to personal...like I shouldn't be here. But as soon as I saw his room it was very clean...? Definitely not what I was expecting.
Nick saw the look on my face "What? What's wrong?" he asked looking around confused. I couldn't help but chuckle, breaking a smile "It's so clean in here...it's weird," But overall, it suits him with the rugby poster littered all over the walls with a cute little light hanging over his bed. There it was again, that small hint of vanilla, smoke and a mix of musk but the musk was a lot stronger.
Dramatically, he placed his hand over his chest, gasping, "Are you seriously thinking that I am weird because I know how to clean,"
"I just never expected something like this," I said, gesturing to the room. Walking around, I noticed a few books on the shelf. "Especially for a rugby player. I mean, aren't you guys supposed to be dirty, by default?" I picked a book off the shelf, the title reading "Le Petit Prince (French Edition)."
A French Novel?
Sensing my curiosity, Nick blushed, swiftly taking the book from my hand and putting it back on the shelf. "My dad gifted it to me, but I barely read it," he admitted, a touch of embarrassment in his expression.
Sensenig that his dad was a sour subject I decided to drop it. Still observing his room, noticing the little trinkets of action figure and posters, until my eyes landing on the little snacks on the TV stand plus Mario Kart next to the Nintendo, excitement bubbled up within me as I took in the familiar sight.
"You have Mario Kart!" I exclaimed, my eyes lighting up at the sight of the game. Memories of playing it flooded back.
Nick's eyes beamed. "You like Mario Kart? Do you know how to play?" he asked, a playful smile on his face.
I nodded. "Me and my Dad used to play all the time when I was little. I still do, just never really picked it back up," I said, shrugging.
"Do you want to play?" he asked, holding the Nintendo playfully.
I smiled. "You don't even have to ask."

"Come on, Come on I'm in the lead! Can you just let me win" Nick yelled, he was particularly begging at the point.
"It doesn't matter cause you're not going to win," I smirked. He's literally the King of Rugby and practically wins at everything. This is one thing I'm really good at, so I am definitely not going to let him win.
"Can you let me win one time? You've won five or six games."
"I am literary going easy one you,"
"No!" he groaned at the screen when he saw my Princess Peach cross the finish line. I couldn't help but laugh at his reaction.
"You need more practice, Nick. Maybe I can give you some tips," I teased, reveling in the playful banter. It was one area where I knew I could outshine the rugby star.
He pouted, "I don't need tips. I just need a fair chance." The adorable pout he sported was enough to make anyone's heart melt.
"I think this is just Karma kicking you in the ass; you can't be good at everything," I said sarcastically, while grabbing a little popcorn.
He nodded in agreement, "No, you're exactly right. You're just good at everything," he admitted.
"No, I'm not," I chuckled. But there was something in the way he looked at me, and it's been happening a lot lately. I can't quite figure out why he has this knack for making me feel this way. It's as if a single glance from him is all it takes to turn me into a bundle of nerves.
"You are. You're a proper little nerd. And you don't even know it."
"I am not!" I protested, playfully nudging him.
"Let's see. You're good at video games. Literally all school subjects, but especially math's. Amazing at photography. Befriending dogs, and you are good a sports manager. Like I have never seen our gear so clean before-"
"Shut up!" I interrupted in a playful groan, feeling warm flush spread across my cheeks. Covering his mouth, while pushing him onto the bed. It seems this was the only way of shutting him up.
"You know it's true," he mumbled from beneath my hand, a blush coloring his cheeks. "Get off me. Seriously, get off," he added with a laugh, the room filled with our shared laughter.
The laughter quickly faded, leaving a lingering warmth between us. I don’t understand this feeling, I have never felt this way before. Our eyes were saying one thing, but our bodies were saying another. In that stillness, I became aware of the soft sound of snow falling outside.
"Oh, my god" I was star-stuck looking out the window.
His eyes followed mine, and as he turned to the window, a quiet gasp escaped his lips.
"It's snowing."
We just look at each other we didn't have to say anything, we jumped up from the bed, rushing down the stairs putting our coats on. The air was charged with anticipation, I was on the brink of witnessing snow for the very first time in my fifteen years. Nick handing me a hoodie in the process.
I shook my head refusing the offer, but he only shoved it back in my face,
"You were freezing when I first saw you this morning," he chuckled, a mischievous glint in his eyes. But he wasn't taking no for an answer.
I couldn't help but laugh, realizing he had a point. Gratefully accepting the hoodie, I slipped it on, feeling the warmth envelop me trying to ignore his overwhelming scent.
"It's a bit big," you said, glancing at the blue fabric draping down to my knees.
"It looks good on you," he said breathlessly, he was looking directly at me. Two compliments in one day, that was definitely something.
It was absolutely beautiful outside, the cold didn't bother me as much as before, it may or may not have something to do with the hoodie I was wearing.
Nick wasted no time sticking his tongue out to catch the tiny snowflakes. His cheeks had a rosy flush, and there was something about the way the light hit his hair, making it look a bit browner. He looked marvelous.
Caught staring, I locked eyes with him, and there was a fleeting smile on his face. Before I could fully process it, he playfully threw a whole snowball at me, leaving me in disbelief. I hurriedly made a makeshift snowball. It instantly became a snowball fight.
For a moment, just a moment everything seemed perfect, the way he laughed when Nellie was eating the snow. To when he brushed the snow off my hair. The way he took pictures of me when I made snow angles. When he laid beside me all I did was listen to him talk any and everything.
It was just perfect.
I couldn't shake the knot in my stomach, and suddenly, those stolen glances and shared moments held a new weight. When he looks at me, it's like he's seeing something beyond the surface. There's this intensity in his gaze, and I can't help but admire the way he looks at me. The way his eyes light up when he smiles, the little expressions that make him uniquely him. The realization hit me -
I have a crush on Nick Nelson
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ +
"Are you even listening to what I'm saying?" Ellie snapped her fingers in front of my face, trying to grab my attention. My eyes, however, were glued to the three little bubbles dancing across my screen, eagerly awaiting Nick's response.
Ellie couldn't resist taking a peek at my screen, and a knowing smirk crept onto her face as she shook her head. "Oh, I see what's got you all distracted now."
"Yeah, yeah, I'm listening," I mumbled, tearing my eyes away from the screen to meet Ellie's amused gaze.
She chuckled, leaning back in her chair. "Nick, huh? The mystery guy who's got you glued to your phone?"
Blushing, I tried to downplay it. "We're just chatting, you know, about random stuff."
"Random stuff, right," Ellie teased, wiggling her eyebrows. "I've seen that look before. You've got the 'crush glow' all over your face."
Rolling my eyes, I shrugged. "Oh, come on. It's not like that. We're just friends."
Eyebrow raised; Ellie smirked. "Friends who text 24/7, interesting definition of friendship."
I sighed, realizing she saw through my attempt at nonchalance. "Okay, fine. Maybe there's a tiny crush. But seriously, don't make it a big deal."
Glancing out the window, I spotted Nick chatting with a pretty girl that I always seen around school. They were standing so close, and her laughter reached my ears even through the closed window. My heart sank as I watched them share a moment. She was effortlessly charming and ever so pretty, and the way Nick's eyes lit up in response made my stomach churn. It felt like they were in their own bubble, leaving me on the outside looking in.
Ellie looked at me and she frowned and nudged me gently. "Y/N, what's going on? You look like you've just seen a ghost."
I forced a weak smile, attempting to mask the turmoil inside. "Oh, nothing. Just caught up in my thoughts, you know?"
But Ellie wasn't buying it. She followed my gaze, her eyes narrowing as she took in the scene outside. "Oh...that's Imogen. That's one of Nick's close friends,"
"Oh, really?" I tried to sound casual, but I could feel a knot forming in my stomach. "Just a friend, huh?"
Ellie shot me a knowing look, her eyebrows raised. "Y/N, are you getting jealous?"
"What? No!" I protested a bit too quickly, my cheeks heating up. "I mean, why would I be jealous? We're just friends, like I said."
Ellie chuckled, clearly amused by my reaction. "Sure, just friends. a friend who you have a crush on."
I rolled my eyes, attempting to change the subject. "Let's focus on something else. What were you saying before about our plans for the weekend?"
Ellie raised an eyebrow, clearly not letting me off the hook that easily. "Smooth transition, but we'll get back to this later. Anyway, I was thinking we could do a little movie night at Tao's. We can bring some snacks, binge-watch our favorite films, and just unwind."
"Yeah, that sounds great," I replied, trying to shake off the uneasy feeling. "Movies and snacks sound like the perfect distraction."
As we continued discussing our weekend plans, my mind kept drifting back to Nick and Imogen. I couldn't help but wonder if there was something more between them. Were they just friends, or was there a deeper connection? The uncertainty gnawed at me, and I found myself absentmindedly scrolling through our previous texts.
The guys were practicing for an upcoming match, and I was just here cleaning the Rugby they have already gotten so dirty after a couple of throws. Occasionally, Nick would glance over in my direction, offering a reassuring smile or a quick wave.
"I can't believe they have cleaning rugby balls. Doing the dirty work while we get all the glory?" Charlie teased, nudging me with his elbow.
I chuckled, playfully swatting at him. "Someone's got to keep these in top-notch condition. Can't have you all playing with muddy balls, can we?"
Charlie raised an eyebrow. "Speaking of action, I noticed I haven't been seeing you lately. Any particular reason?"
I hesitated for a moment, debating how much to reveal. Finally, I decided to open up to Charlie, knowing he'd always knows what to do. "Well, I've been meaning to talk to you about that. You know, get some 'guy advice.'"
"I think I am the worse person to give 'guy advice'. especially now" Charlie looked down the ground.
Noticing the sadness in his eyes, I joked around with him "Oh come on, Charlie, don't be so hard on yourself. You're my go-to guy for advice, whether you like it or not."
He managed a small grin, "Alright, shoot. What do you need from my services this time?"
I sighed, glancing back at Nick on the field, his focused demeanor contrasting with the playful banter of the other players. "It's just... things have been different lately. We've been hanging out more, texting, you know, normal friend stuff. But I can't help but feel there's something more."
Charlie looked worried as soon as I brought up Nick's name, "Of course this is about Nick Nelson,"
I nodded, "Yeah, it is. I mean, we're friends, but there are these moments, these looks, and it makes me wonder if there's something more. And then today- I don't know... it just hit me differently."
Charlie glanced around to ensure no one was eavesdropping before he spoke. "Look, I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but there's something I think you should know."
My heart sank a little, and I furrowed my brows in concern. "What is it, Charlie? You're making me nervous."
He took a deep breath before continuing "Okay so Tao told me to tell you that-
"Wait why couldn't Tao just tell me himself?"
Charlie looked a little uneasy "Because Tao is Tao"
Great he still doesn't like me.
I shook my head, urging Charlie to continue. "Tell me what Tao said."
He took a deep breath before continuing, "Tao found out from a friend who is also friends with Nick, and he said that Nick is single. But he is super interested in this girl that was originally from the all-girls school."
I swallowed the lead in my throat "What girl,"
Charlie sighed looking out onto the field "Her name's Tara Jones,"
My heart sank as Charlie dropped the bomb about Nick's interest in Tara Jones. Her name replayed in my mind like an annoying song on repeat. I couldn't shake off the blame creeping in why did I let myself get attached? Was I just too naive, thinking there could be more between us?
Nick's wave from the field added salt to the wound. I managed a feeble smile and a wave back, but inside, it felt like a whirlwind of emotions. Watching him, I questioned every shared laugh and conversation we had. Were they all just leading up to this moment where he'd be drawn to someone else?
The game raged on in the background, but my world stood still in that painful moment of realization. The cheers from the crowd turned into distant echoes, drowned out by the pounding of my heart, echoing the rhythm of disappointment.
How can I be so stupid.
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ +
She was so beautiful, and I could see why Nick might be into her. Browsing through her social media, her confidence and elegance just stood out. It's something I feel like I lack. Her dark skin had this warm, rich tone that glowed in every photo. The more I looked, the more I found myself comparing. It made me question if I could ever match up to someone like her in Nick's eyes. The more I scrolled, the more I felt like an outsider peeking into a world that seemed so different from mine.
"See, I told you," Tao said, peering over my shoulder. Charlie shot him an annoyed look.
"Tao, come on, give it a rest. This doesn't necessarily mean anything," Charlie snapped.
"Like hell it doesn't," Tao retorted. I deeply sighed; their bickering wasn't making the situation any better. Isaac looked at me with a hint of concern.
"We don't even know if she actually likes Nick back," Isaac chimed in, attempting to offer some comfort.
Charlie scoffed, "I'm the one stuck seeing them in class every day, and trust me, it's nauseating. Believe me, he's into you," he added, shooting me a look.
Tao, fixing his gaze on Isaac, cautioned, "I've warned you about fueling romantic fantasies that just won't happen. Life isn't a romance novel, you know." ignoring Charlie reassurance.
"But I want to believe in romance." Isaac wined still looking hopeful. Our heads turned to the door when Ellie came in, Isaac immediately jumped at the chance "Ellie! So, there's this girl at school who Nick's got a crush on?"
"We've heard from multiple sources" Tao cut in, but Isaac completed ignored him "We don't know if they're a thing. Can you talk to her? Since she is in your year"
Isaac's hopeful gaze shifted to Ellie, who raised an eyebrow at his enthusiasm. "Whoa, slow down. First, spill the tea. Who's this mystery girl Nick's into?" Ellie said, playing dumb while glancing at me to check if it was Imogen we were talking about. I just quietly shook my head no
Tao chimed in, "Her name's Tara Jones. She was originally from the all-girls school."
Ellie crossed her arms, processing the information definitely wasn't expecting that. "Tara Jones? She's a sweetheart, I don't know Tara that well. I can just go up to her and ask who she fancies. And I'm, too busy being the cool, mysterious new girl, who everyone wants to hang out with."
Isaac quickly jumped back into the conversation, seizing the opportunity. "We just want to know if there's something going on between her and Nick. You know, for Y/N's peace of mind."
"I'm fine. It's honestly fine. I'm just being an idiot and overthinking things," This whole thing has been stressing me out, more than I realize. It's probably best if I cut my losses now before I get more attached.
Ellie gave me a sympathetic glance rolling her eyes while she sighed "Well, I can try to find out, but no promises, only if I get a chance I'll ask her,"
I flashed her a thankful smile, and Isaac promptly leaped into Ellie's arms. Sometimes, I forget how much of a hopeless romantic he is. Charlie joined in, gesturing for me to join them. Gratefully, I embraced the warmth of the hug. I realized I wouldn't know where I'd be without them.
Tao sat there, glaring, watching the scene.
The next school day rolled around, and I made a quick stop at the boys' locker room to check on inventory, making sure to steer clear of any awkward encounters, especially with Nick Nelson. Luckily, I managed to avoid any unexpected run-ins. However, as I strolled to my next class, it hit me that I'd be sharing a class with him soon. The knot in my stomach tightened, and a sense of unease settled in, a reminder of the events from the day before.
Waving at Charlie as I eased into my seat, a jumble of nerves hit me hard. Concentrating seemed like an impossible task, with my thoughts entirely hijacked by the looming encounter with Nick. What in the world was I even going to say to him, if I mustered the courage to say anything at all? The classroom blurred as my mind grappled with racing thoughts.
"Y/N?" he said, staring right at me with worried eyes.
Finally returning back to earth, I mumbled, "What?"
"You just spaced out," he observed.
Not knowing what to say, I managed a simple "Oh," fiddling with my blue pen, which oddly seemed to help with my nerves. Nick, sensing the habit, scooted closer to me. I swear I could feel his body warmth.
"What's up?" he said, looking directly at me. "I can tell when something's on your mind," he added in a hush, leaning even more closely.
Gosh, I hate the way he makes me feel. The way I act around him is ridiculous. I hate that every time he gets close, my heart races, every touch, every feeling. I hate all of it!
Why does he make me feel this way?
"Do you...Do you want to come to my house later?" I blurted out, causing for Charlie to peek over at me with panic eyes screaming What the hell are you doing!
He looked surprised, but all he can do is smile.
Mom is not going to be here until super late, so I can have the house all to myself. I cleaned from top to bottom of house, throwing all the boxes away and tightening up everything was squared away.
Hearing a knock at the door, it was him standing at my door smiling from ear to ear.
"Hey"
Opening the door for him, "Hey,"
"So, how does this work?" he asked hesitantly, glancing around the room as if unsure of what to capture with my old Canon. The way he held the camera was so awkward, it brought a smile to my face.
Figuring it was a fair trade after all the rugby lessons, I decided to teach Nick a thing or two about photography.
"You can take a picture of anything you like, really. It could be something beautiful, something that grabs your attention, or simply anything that intrigues you," I explained, observing him furrow his brows while peering through the viewfinder.
"Anything?" he asked, seeking confirmation.
I nodded, a spark of enthusiasm lighting up my eyes. "Exactly! That's the beauty of it. Photography allows you to freeze a moment in time, to capture something you love, like, or find amusing. It's incredible how a single image can encapsulate so much emotion, tell a story, or even memories."
Nick listened attentively, his curiosity evident. I continued, "You see, every photo has a story behind it. It's a way of preserving feelings, experiences, and moments that might otherwise fade away. You get to share your perspective with others through the lens, allowing them to see the world through your eyes."
As I spoke, I could see Nick growing more intrigued, absorbing the idea of photography beyond just pressing a button. "Give it a try," I encouraged, "Capture something that stands out to you, something you'd want to remember."
Right as I looked back at Nick, I noticed that fuck, he was looking directly at me. His eyes looked into mine and there it was again, that knot in my stomach. I didn't know what to do, I had completely froze. His eyes seemed different though-
Feeling a buzz in my pocket, I checked my phone. It was a message from my mom, letting me know she wouldn't be home until midnight and that there was lasagna in the fridge. A sigh of relief escaped my lips, knowing I wouldn't have to explain having a boy in my room when she returned.
Hearing a click, I turned to Nick, curious about what had caught his attention through the lens of my camera. "What did you take a picture of?" I asked.
"Just something that I thought was beautiful," Nick replied with a soft smile, his eyes lingering on mine. Raising my eyebrows confused but also curious. He didn't say anything at all, other than putting the camera down.
"Want to watch a movie?" he suggested,
"Already one step ahead of you," I grinned, pulling out one of my favorite Marvel movies.
We settled into the living room couch, time passes by, and my eyelids begin to grow heavy. Waking up to see the credits rolling I quickly sat up. I completely sleep through the whole entire movie.
Looking out the window, it was dark outside, looking at Nick he seemed to be tensed.
"I feel asleep, didn't I?" I chuckled.
Nick's lips curved into a gentle smile, "Yeah, you did. Must have been a comfortable couch."
I stretched my arms, attempting to shake off the drowsiness. "Sorry about that. I guess I needed the nap."
Nick shrugged, "No problem. You looked peaceful."
We sat quietly, the feel of the movie night still in the air. Even with the unexpected nap, the evening felt calm.
"I should probably head home," Nick said, glancing at the time. "It's getting late."
As he stood up, I walked him to the door. Opening it without caring about the cold air seeping in, the night possessed a certain calmness, and the air held a subtle tension, like the moment before something shifts.
"Thanks for inviting me over," Nick said, and for a moment, our eyes met in a way that spoke volumes, yet said nothing at all.
"I wish that you didn't have to go," I admitted, feeling the weight of the night settling in.
"I wish I didn't either," Nick confessed, a hint of reluctance in his voice.
"You look so cuddly like that," he added, his gaze lingering on my knitted sweater.
My eyes softened, and a playful grin tugged at the corners of my lips. "You think so?"
He nodded, smiling back at me. "Yeah, like a giant teddy bear."
I chuckled, feeling a warmth spreading through me that had nothing to do with the sweater. "Well, I guess I'll take that as a compliment."
Nick's cheeks turned a shade of pink, and he scratched the back of his head, a sheepish grin on his face "It's meant to be one," he replied, and we stood there for a moment, the unspoken words hanging in the air.
He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Well, if I didn't have early morning practice, I might consider staying longer."
I felt a subtle warmth spreading through me. The casual banter, the shared laughter it all felt so easy and right. Yet, there was an unspoken tension, a magnetic pull that lingered between us.
"I guess I'll see you around," Nick said, but he didn't make a move to the open door; it looked like he wanted to say something else he just couldn't find the words.
As he stepped closer, the air between us seemed to shift, and before I knew it, he pulled me into a gentle hug.
Vanilla. Smoke. and Musk
I slowly wrapped my arms around, wanting to not let go, but he quickly pulled away, backing towards the door.
"Um… catch you on Monday," he mumbled, clearing his throat, his gaze fixed anywhere but on me. He melted into the night, leaving me standing there, gaping at the door, with a whirlwind of thoughts spinning through my mind.
Charlie casually peeked around the side of the door, and from the look on his face, it was clear he caught the whole thing.
"Still questioning if he's into you?" Charlie asked, shooting me a knowing look.

satoru gojo wasn't always like this, no. he used to spend time with you all of the time. but ever since the loss of his dear best friend, satoru gojo had distanced himself from you. and perhaps with shoko ieiri too.
you didn't know when it started. but the push and pull in your relationship makes you wonder if it even matter at all when it started. he was clinging onto you the first few days suguru geto had died. but he gradually, slowly walks out of your life despite being a colleague. despite working together. despite walking the same path...
you loved satoru gojo. no ― you love satoru gojo. all because you wanted him to feel better, you thought it was normal if he wanted some times to himself. though... days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months. and in the end, it turns into a year.
a full year without the nochalant and playful satoru gojo. it became too unbearable for you. so you left. you left the jujutsu high to work as a high school teacher at a normal school. not a month into your new life, you received a call from the satoru gojo himself.
.
"yo, y/n!" a bright smile displayed on his lips as he waved his right hand at you. he was leaning against the car, the driver was non other than kiyotaka ijichi. satoru gojo wasn't wearing his usual blindfold. he was appearing normal in front of you ― like a normal citizen in an button up shirt with a pair of black leggings. and not to forget his black round sunglasses.
the students around you stopped walking and stared at the scene unfolding before them. "satoru," you muttered under your breath. sure enough, just the sight of him still manage to catch your breath. you quickly compose yourself and told the students to go home. "why are you here?" you walked closer to him, folding your arms over your chest. his smile softens a little. "the school wanted you back. screw that- i want you back ― need you back," he said softly.
for a second you had almost believed that this man is so utterly in love with you. but that was impossible, wasn't it? how could the strongest sorcerer in the jujutsu world could possibly be in love with you? a mere grade 4 sorcerer that could barely use her cursed energy.
"the audacity of the gojo satoru to be asking me to come back. after a full year of not talking to me. heck, you can't even breath in the same room as me," you turned away from him. "please refrain yourself from coming here ever again,"
"just because you are strong doesn't mean that you get to do whatever you want, gojo,"
ouch. that had hurt him. that was the first time ever that you had called him gojo. after years of calling him satoru with that sweet voice of yours. now it's dripping with hate, perhaps. he couldn't tell.
"then i'm sorry for doing this," gojo muttered under his breath before knocking you out. he quickly catch your limp figure before it fell to the ground. picking you up in his arms, he gets inside the car, sitting at the back seat as ijichi drives off.
instinctively, his hand went to brush away the hair that was on your face, his hand lingering on your cheek as he admires your beautiful feature. he missed it. his eyes lingered especially longer on your lips. he wished oh so badly to have a taste of it. perhaps it taste like heaven. or perhaps it tastes better.
satoru gojo doesn't like to act rashly. but when it comes to you, he's fighting with his very being to not do certain things to you. his resolves aren't as tough as people thought.
.
when you awoke, you find yourself in your old dormitory room. the white ceiling that you got boring staring at. the slightly ripped old posters on the walls; showing your favorite band. and not to forget ― the picture of you and satoru smiling widely as he picks you up.
you scowled slightly as you realized what he had done. suddenly, the door burst open, greeting you with gojo satoru ― and a pink-haired teenage boy. "yo!" the pink-haired boy greeted you enthusiastically. "i'm itadori yuuji! nice to meet you!"
you nodded at the boy in acknowledgement, looking at gojo in annoyance. "why did you bring me back?" you snarled.
getting out of bed, you walked towards him, trying to grab him by the collar. but of course, his infinity doesn't allow that. "woah, calm down, pretty," he caught your hand, intertwining it with his. "i feel like i'm witnessing something intimate," itadori said, covering his face with his hands but peeking out from his slightly ajar fingers.
you find yourself getting flustered and pulled away from him, clearing your throat as the boy stare at you and gojo. "so? are you going to explain why i'm here?" you crossed your arms together.
"we're short on teachers! that's why!" the male answered with a thumbs up. "and you had to kidnap me?!" you hissed at him. "i didn't know what else to do!" he put both of his hands up in surrender. "they could have sent someone else to pick me up! instead of you," you glared at him.
despite your haughty attitude, gojo felt his stomach fluttering with the same butterfly effect that he first felt at 18 years old. "well, shoko is busy. nanami has a mission. and i'm the only other teacher that's available!" he smiled widely.
"don't lie! shoko is definitely not busy right now! i just talked to her this morning,"
"guilty as charge!" gojo laughed, avoiding your punches with ease. "are you guys dating?" the boy suddenly butts in. "no!" you turned your head towards him. "this man ― whatever he is! could never be my partner!" you snarled, feeling a pang inside your heart.
gojo felt it too. though he didn't show his hurt expression one bit. "yeah, we would never work out even if we're dating," the white-haired man chuckled.

Second Best - Part 2
Nikolai Lantsov x reader
Part 1 --- Masterlist --- Part 3
A/N: Started at school again so updates will probably be even more infrequent now. Once again, I hope this part is coherent enough :) also, I gave the mc reader a last name :)
Synopsis: When you were a child, the Lantsov king and queen arranged for their second son to marry you, a rich Ravkan noble family's only daughter. After many years, after all the destruction of the war, and after Nikolai was crowned king, Nikolai breaks off the engagement. But the complications of your past and your strict parents make it a nightmare to find a new fiance, so Nikolai promises to help you, yet he slowly realizes the mistake he's made.
Warnings: strict and mean parents, very slight self-image issues because of said parents, mentions of illness and death, me not knowing how to write sciencey things, kinda confusing and purposefully ambiguous details that will be important later in the story (bear with me please)
Word Count: 1840
..........
The day after the king visited, a letter addressed to you arrived at the Antonov house in Os Alta. You never got letters.
You grew up in the isolated countryside, surrounded by acres and acres of land and a household of servants who were under strict orders not to speak with you. When you were five, the only friend you had died during a small outbreak of pox, which was around the same time your parents started to restrict who came near your estate. Because of this, no one back in the countryside would be writing to you. Perhaps an old school friend sent you a rare letter, though they wouldn’t have the address for the city house, only the country estate.
There was no reason for a letter to arrive addressed to you. So when the butler handed you the letter at the breakfast table, your mother gasped and plucked it out of your hand before you could even open it.
Her eyes narrowed on the wax seal. "It's the double eagles."
"What does the puppy prince want now?" Your father looked over his morning paper, vaguely interested in the contents of the letter as he sipped at his morning tea.
"He's the king, father," you quietly chided. He just waved you off.
Your mother cracked open the seal and started reading. You wanted to grab it back from her--seeing as it was your letter--but you merely stood from your seat and hurried to her side of the table so you could read over her shoulder.
"He was serious about helping her find a new fiance," your mother said as she read.
You glanced at the first few lines, confirming her information. Then she gasped and set down the letter. You craned over her shoulder to understand what had scandalized her.
I wish to discuss what exactly you are looking for and to get to know you better before I help you find a match. As such, I would like you to have tea and luncheon with me in the Grand Palace on Saturday at noon. But only you--I do not wish to hear your parents’ talking.
"He's invited her to the palace. Alone."
Your father set down his cup. His eyes flitted up to you.
Your mother tsked, looking at him. "She can't go. She'll ruin us if she goes. She'll let it slip, I just know she will."
"I won't tell him." You swore, eyes pleading with your father. "You know I won't."
"Look at her, she'll crumble and tell him everything," your mother said, her face tensing up as she glared at you.
He paused in consideration, crossing his arms. You stepped closer to him.
"Father," you said calmly. "It's my reputation on the line as much as it is the family's. I won't tell him or anyone else for that matter."
He scrutinized your eyes a moment longer, then he returned his attention to his newspaper. "You can go. But be back by two o'clock. No later."
Your mother sat up in her seat, seeming like she wanted to say something, but a glance from your father made her think twice. You grabbed your letter and envelope from in front of her and waltzed back to your place at the table. You quickly hugged your father's shoulders on the way to your seat.
……….
The last time you were at the Grand Palace, you were twelve and terrified. Your spine was as stiff as granite as Lord and Lady Antonov guided you into the throne room. You'd been lectured from this way to that as you got ready that day all those years back.
"Keep your hands folded, and your mouth shut," your mother said as she fussed over your hair that morning. "Don't give yourself away by speaking commonly, girl. Be a proper lady."
You could still remember how her hands threateningly tightened in your hair as she started to braid it.
"The saints will pity you if you are not believed, daughter, but they will pity you more for what I will do to you if the royal family sees through you."
That was many years ago. But despite how the time had ticked, despite how you had grown and gone across the sea and back since then, you still felt like a nervous kid as you stood in the Grand Palace.
You stared at a painting in the palace's main drawing room. It was just a study of a vase packed with flowers, yet your eyes eagerly traced the purple petals and green leaves. You tried to imagine painting such a thing, although you’d never had an iota of artistic ability. You were only desperate to distract yourself from your impending meeting.
Suddenly the doors to the drawing room opened and Nikolai stepped inside.
"My apologies for being late. I was in the Fabrikator lab and there was a small crisis to be dealt with." He gave a suave smile. "Fire's out now, though."
"You started a fire?" You raised a brow.
His nose scrunched as he chuckled, "Well, not intentionally. Please, sit."
You smiled and sat down on one of the couches. Nikolai sat across from you, pouring two cups of tea.
"Sugar? Milk?" He asked as his hands hovered over the tea tray.
"Three sugars and a splash of milk, please," you replied.
"You like your tea sweet, then?" He glanced at you, making your eyes flit down to your lap.
"I didn't have many sweets growing up. Tea was always the one place I could get away with adding as much sugar as I wanted. And now my taste for tea is permanently skewed sweeter than everyone else I know."
"Nonsense," he smirked as he handed you your teacup and saucer, "everyone else's tastes are just too bitter and boring. Personally, I go for one sugar and as much milk as will fit before overflowing. But truth be told, I much prefer coffee to tea."
"Me too," you smiled a bit. A thought came to you, and you spoke, "There was this coffee shop at the university of Ketterdam that served the best coffee. It was sweet and light all while keeping a rich flavor; I still don’t know how they accomplished that."
Nikolai sighed contently as if imagining the taste of what you've described. "Yes, Kerch coffee is leagues ahead of what we make here in Ravka, isn't it?"
"Must be the high demand of all their bankers and businesspeople," you remarked, making Nikolai chuckle softly.
"Must be."
The conversation lulled for a moment, and you noticed a bit of ash on Nikolai's otherwise pristine jacket cuff.
"So… that fire that you didn't start intentionally?" You inquired with a light tone.
He scrunched his nose again. "Yes?"
"Were you looking at some Fabrikator invention in their lab when you accidentally made it catch fire?"
"No, actually," he chuckled. "The Fabrikators were helping me work on an idea I had for a thermal converter, something that could be implemented throughout Ravkan homes to help heat houses in the winter.”
“That’s an admirable invention.” You furrowed your brow and paused for a moment. “Would it work independently of a fireplace?”
“No, it would work in tandem,” He explained. “There would be pipes connected to the fireplace that would then run along the house either on the walls or beneath the floorboards.”
“Tungsten pipes?”
“Yes. Tungsten or–”
“Nickel.”
He blinked at you. “Exactly. How did you know that?”
“I studied advanced physics at the University; we had engineering classes where we had to design and build different inventions. I designed a motorized plough but the machinations kept burning through the metals so I needed to find the best metals. In my research I found that Nickel and tungsten have high melting points. Ergo, nickel and tungsten can withstand the heat of your pipes.”
He watched you for a moment, smiling. You watched back.
Men are frightened by smart women. Your mother’s words echoed in your mind.
But Nikolai wasn’t frightened. He wasn’t put off by your intellect. He sat there smiling at you for a second longer, then he set down his teacup and leaned forward in his seat.
“Two things,” he said with a bright glint in his eye. “One: did that machinated plough of yours work?”
You nodded. “Quite well, actually. I've tried to get my father to implement it on our estate and in our region’s farms, but he’s reluctant. He thinks it’s a fool’s tool.”
“Well Lord Antonov must be wrong. I can’t imagine anything you make would be worthy of such low-esteem. If you still have the designs, I would love to share them with the Fabrikators.”
You smiled. “I have the designs.”
“Excellent.”
Again, he watched you for a second, a light expression on his face.
“What was the second thing?” you asked.
“Oh, yes,” he grinned. “Two: would you like to come see the Fabrikator workshop?”
"Absolutely." You grinned back.
……….
The workshop was its own slice of heaven. All the machinery and pending inventions called to you as Nikolai and the Fabrikators gave you a tour. You could have stayed in the workshop for hours on end, but it was nearing two o'clock, and your parents would be livid if you weren't home by then.
Nikolai walked you back through the Grand Palace to where your carriage would be waiting for you.
"We never discussed my offer of assistance, did we?" He spoke as the pair of you walked through the main entry hall.
"I suppose we got a bit distracted," you smiled guiltily.
"Shame on us," he said with a lopsided grin. You reached the front doors and two servants opened them. Nikolai stopped in the doorway and turned to you. "So, you will accept my offer?"
"To help me find a fiance?" You asked softly.
"Yes."
You glanced over at the waiting carriage. Then your eyes found his again. "Yes. I'm sure you will find a better match than my mother will. She's already written to every eligible suitor that I am back on the market."
He let out a soft laugh. "Saints, that woman works fast."
"Tell me about it," you grumbled.
He stepped towards your carriage and held his arm out for you. You took his arm and his help into your carriage.
"Thank you," you smiled gently at him from the open window. "For everything."
He shrugged. "Of course."
"Truly, I am grateful that you are doing this. Saints know what sort of person my mother would force a match with. I have faith that you will offer me options with real merit."
He gave a small laugh. "High praise."
"I'm just being honest."
"I know," he nodded as he looked up at you.
His eyes were so intent on yours. A hazel colour was so perfectly spun in his irises, and his stare felt warmer than any you'd ever seen before.
"I'll send you a list soon enough," he smiled at you. His eyes lingered for another moment, then he backed away from the carriage. "Goodbye for now, my lady."
Your chauffeur rode off, and you watched the Grand Palace slowly shrink away.
