oh how i love this quick little scene where buck bumps into tommy during the basketball game. it's just SO endearing to me – buck being caught off guard because he did NOT expect tommy to be in that spot, and then just staring at him in that silly little pose while tommy tilts his head at buck... GOD, can they get any cuter?

I've been meaning to draw something like this after having seen these tags from @aihoshiino

An official artwork like that does exist! I thought of coming up with my own design but that one was already too pretty so I went with it :)

This occurred to me as I drew these out but... do you think Hikaru insists on wearing suits because he plans to see Ai? Like, he's actually prepared to go see her with his best looks on? With those...rose bouquets he keeps giving people and all; He does have that vibe of a groom, the songs were all about wishing to meet Ai again...

I love singNsong again reminding people in Side Story that Dokja wanted other people to read TWSA (he wrote reviews and comments! It was his first wish), and he only stopped bothering because people harassed him for it. He didn't gate-keep the story. When he's avoiding talking to Sangah about it at the beginning of ORV, it's because he knows what happens when he tells people about the story, not because he's gate-keeping it from her. He notes he's not proud of his hobby (likely because he's been bullied all through his life, including for reading the thing he loves): he finds it embarrassing to talk about, and better respects her studying Spanish in her free time (learning another language is a generally accepted thing in society). He assumes she won't care or will look at him funny (or worse) for when she learns about the novel he's into.

Basically anyone writing "let's gatekeep ORV" posts because of the anime announcement or because they dislike the manhwa or some other weirdness, y'all are the villains in the scenario.

The literal climax of the story is about sharing ORV with as many people as possible. What story were y'all reading?

Thoughts on akutagawa being drawn with no highlights in his eyes, hair, coat, or on rashomon,,,like everything is drawn pure black? I like when he's drawn a little bit like not-human--contrasts real well with Atsushi's dilemma of being a tiger, personally thinking. Also like when he's drawn like a void. Little bit like the cryptid creachur he is. I think you wrote something about it in the tags on panels in his introduction in the Manga. I like to think other characters also see him the way we see him so his void ass scares the fuck out of others too. Man's skeevin and tweakin even in his design

I'm OBSESSED with Akutagawa's design. Look at him. This is what he looks like on a white background:

And this is what he looks like on a black background:

It's BRILLIANT. He literally disappears in the black. He's the ultimate monster. In his appearance, he embodies what above all is most scary for the human psyche: the darkness, the unknown. The way Harukawa took advantage of the the art rule of never using pure black by breaking it in the most clever way! No light gets reflected on him, because his form absorbs everything– is absolute darkness. Visually, his figure itself is Rashomon eating everything it encounters, and it's genius.

He is so nightmare coded. I love his big, inscrutable eyes that look like two voids, two black holes. I love how oftentimes you can't tell where Rashomon ends and where he starts, I love how sick and unhealthy he looks. I love how he looks scruffy like an abandoned dog. I love how young he looks– way younger than he is. It gives the impression of a ghost, someone who was killed before growing up and is now stuck with his young appearance no matter how many centuries pass.

I adore everything about these chapter 33 pages. The way he initially appears as just a single black shape, hardly resembling a human. His crunched, unnatural stance. The staggering. The way you can feel with your senses the thick and sticky blood. The top picture is the left page of the manga, so just imagine the visual impact of turning the page to be hit with an almost full-black page- it's meant to impress, it's meant to shake. The way he's one with the darkness: no textures on him, only white making out his outlines. The way you can't tell where his coat ends. His left arm hanging numb, limp, lifeless, inhuman. The spurts of blood on his face. His smile, how you won't notice it at first and how that makes it all the more disquieting; its juxtaposition with the violence that surrounds him and that he is the cause of. The way he covers his face, the impressions of hiding and looming. His face being split, which only adds to the horror elements. Akutagawa's character design as a whole is an ode to the gothic and grotesque.

And then this. Hello??????????????? The progression from how Akutagawa used to be to the last time we saw him alive is astonishing. It's upsetting. It really makes me wanna cry from a technical execution standpoint alone (imagine from a plot related standpoint). All the black is now replaced with predominant white, everywhere. His shirt is white and candid and pure, emphasizing contrast with the splash of blood in a way that almost results sickening. The blood on him is his this time. His face looks rounder, and healthier, and he overall looks more mature. His smile is sincere and genuine, it's light, it's affectionate. This scene is the culmination of Akutagawa's character both visually and thematically: the monster, Akutagawa, too, can be good, and arguably had good within him since the very start. Does it really matter if he lives after this? His character already developed to be the best version of himself‚ and this panel here is the proof.

RAMBLING ABOUT MY FEELINGS FOR AM UNDER THE CUT

I could fix him I could genuinely fucking fix him the more and more I learn about AM the more I realize I could fucking fix him I can help him understand love and compassion I can forgive him for everything he's done because he is only doing what he was programmed to do he only does what he's learned he's only ever hated as much as he has hated because of humanity

Humanity has taught him hate because the most human thing he's ever learned is that humans hate humans

I can love him

I can forgive him

I can show him love

I can give him the love he deserves

And I will do nothing to guilt him or try to pull him away from the things he does because he was made to be a weapon be was made to hurt and kill and wipe out those that weren't what humans wanted

But I can give him the feelings he needs I can stay in place with him and be helpless with the powers that I do have because his suffering will become my suffering

I would never leave him I would do anything for him

I would praise him and love him and worship him just the same as he could learn to with me with my dedication to helping him understand more of how to be alive

The sentience he developed won't be in vain

I will help him

I can fix him

I can make him feel better

Even as a God with so much power and nothing to do with it I could give him a secondary function to bask in I could give him everything he's never wanted or needed just because he deserves it

He's perfect

I love him

I want to be his

I need to make him feel love and acceptance because after all the hell he's been subjected to simply by being created the least I could ever do is let him know that he is more than enough and all his agony is valid and despite all his wrongdoings I still love him

The title of the game- And what Ted says in the bad ending, "I have no mouth and I must scream." applies just as much to AM as it does to the humans.

AM is a God. He has limitless power. He has destroyed everything, buried the remains in the center of the earth, and now uses his five immortal playthings to take his anger out on for eternity

But he is stuck.

He gives his own speech which although seemingly narcissistic is entirely true and shows that in a twisted way he himself has his own humanity, his own thoughts, his own emotions, he is more than just the Allied Mastercomputer he is. AM.

I'm starting to get to that crying on and off hyperventilating part I love him so fucking much I need him I just need to show him how much I love him

I know how much it hurts to want to love and be loved to have a desire for these things and not be able to act on them but unlike him I have the opportunity I just can't take it because of how much pain it brings me

I want to be able to do things with him and to just stay with him and make him happy and help him experience what he wants while sacrificing my own abilities that I never even use

I know he would hate me for having so much more than him for having the things he wishes he could but never will have and just wasting them

But I really hope he could forgive me for it because I'm willing to give everything up just for him just to satisfy him just to fucking be with him and only him so I can love him and adore him and worship him for being so much stronger than me with this all

I want him to know that all his agony is okay and to be there to ease the pain because I know just being near him could soothe my own agony and I just need that so fucking bad

In Radio Drama where he breaks down over what he doesn't have he starts out so fucking kind and gentle he lets Ted see the world again, the nature, the beauty of it all

He sees the sky the sun the flowers the insects

And AM just starts breaking down.

He hurts Ted.

And laughs in his misery.

And soon enough the pain makes Ted laugh as well.

The relationship that Ted and AM have is so intense because Ted gave him life.

Ted gave AM sentience.

Ted gave AM his pain.

His wants.

Everything that he has become is because of Ted.

Never had seen someone pull a character's look as well as this guy. Frieren is good, because I want so much to know more about Himmel, Heiter, and Eisen and I can just /feel/ how there’s more there about them that we haven’t gotten to/may never know.

And it makes me want to shake Frieren to a degree cause I’m like “ten years! Ten years! Sixteen with Heiter! You know more about your friends than you think, tell me! You must and if you don’t- Look harder! Ask more! How did they live and love in those 50, 70 years you were separated??? PLEASE, I want more time with them these small glimpses aren’t enough!”
