I just had a new neighbor move in, and for the last 3 weeks he's been hounding me about Bella "poisoning" his Bounsweet?? they've never even met.
we literally live in cold-as-Distortion Sinnoh. if your Bounsweet is sick, it's probably frozen from the weather 😭

Hey there, same person as before , have a couple of more questions and opinions I wanna share
-After looking at the gen 3 sprites , was it possible that the Poochy Pokémon would evolve into the 2 other dogs found in the sheet based on its in game gender ? Ally (the primarinna lookalike) is very clearly a dog based on her collar and paws and Eidog is just a dog. This may be a bit far fetched since they’re quite far in the Pokédex but the Seedot and Breeloom evolution are quite far as well
- Was it confirmed that the scrapped Scraggy was the fossilmon of the gen that evolved into Archon?
-I’ve been wondering about something, was the scrapped 3 staged sea Snail line supposed to be the water starter for the region? I does match a bit with oshawott’s shell motif and the final stage also fights with a shell similar to samurott ?
- Could the scrapped electric mythical from Kalos be Zeraora? Thinking about it both it and zygarde had more of an importance on Gen 7 , and we know that Pokémon Z would’ve had zygarde complete in it. And Zera maybe is supposed to be Rattatoskr
And I’ll end it with an opinion, man , I wish whoever drew those gritty designs got to direct a game of their own, they look so much like concept art for a late ps1 obscure JRPG , and they also must be working at game freak still because the concept art for N also resembles them, maybe during the Gear Project years we could’ve gotten it, but oh well
Welcome back dear anon! I’ll do my best to answer all your questions!
I’ll put it all under a read more to save everyone’s feeds!
1. By Poochy, Ally and Eidog, I believe you mean these three?
There could be a chance of all of them being related? But their dex position seems to point to the contrary. Ally (also known as Arei) was earlier in the Pokédex, and Eidog was way later. Maybe at some point they were from the same line, but i couldn’t really see it. They are so different from one another!
I had a spreadsheet, but seems like it was taken down. So instread, here’s this picture. It’s all i have and it’s really not up to date… ^^’ things have really moved since then
(Also, for a sec, when I read Poochy, I thought this was about the character from the fighting game Power Instinct ^^’… I’ve been way too much into fighting games lately!)
2. Signs point to yes! If you refer to the picture above, you can see they are right next to eachothers, as number 396 and 397! They are also pretty much the only ones with a bold color palette like this, so i’d day yes, the old scraggy-like pokémon evolves into the blue proto-grovyle! I can’t say for sure if it was a fossilmon, but i could very well see it as that!
3. That was one of the lines of Pokémon that slipped by when I started posting… I was sure I saved / Posted these guys, but I guess I forgot!
As for their status, I would have to reconfirm. A lot of information came out all at once and it was hard to track. I know there was a few waves of gen 5 beta content. From what I’m aware, there was sprites for the oshawott line in the leaks, but they were already pretty much fully formed. I’m not sure if he coexisted with the sea snail pokémon. I’m sure once this blows over, people will have everything in order and i’ll have an answer to give you. They do look like starters tho so i’ll give you that!
I’ll give you this as an apology for my lack of answer, some tepig line beta sprites that i, ALSO, didn’t post! ^^’
4. It’s all speculations, but I tend to ascribe to this theory, that Zeraora was the scrapped electric mythical. It would fit in the lore built around the legendaries of Kalos. Also, an interesting bit someone pointed out to me is that Zeraora starts with a Z, and ends with an A. Brings it back together i guess. And maybe it’ll show up in Legends Z-A because of that.
I also think that its inclusion in Alola was random. Ik it’s the case for all mythicals, but come on. They just distributed this thing and went home. Zarude had more of a story going. (Love Zarude btw). And considering Alola ALSO was the region stuck with the whole “100 zygarde cells thing, i could see Zeraora being pasted on there as to not waste it i guess.
Kalos as a region is. Full of disappointments. Things were set up, and abandonned. Never elaborated upon. That of they were rushed.
Injecting my own opinion here, those who know me know that I make no secret of my dislike for Kalos. When I play those games, I feel nothing. I felt nothing back when I played them at 14. Actually no, i was pissed off that the cover of X lied to me by telling me Xerneas was gonna be this cool rainbow deer, but it was actually just Dogwater Blue, and I had to use Geomancy for it to be cool. But besides that, i felt nothing. I’ve played Pokémon games for all my life. I was barely out of the womb that my older sister would put her Pokémon toys on me so I’d learn their name. I felt something with every game I played except XY.
I hope Z-A can be some sort of course correction for this generation. At least make everything make sense.
I also dislike Kalos because I’m a native french speaker. And the way they use french pisses me off. Why is there a trainer named “Chaise” (literally chair). Why is there a road named Brun Way (brown way. Ew??). Im so glad theres a street called Avance Trail. Derrière way. Vallée étroite way. Dear god this pisses me off. And iirc they don’t do this shit with ANY other games so WHY HERE. GSJFBDJDBFKFN.
Sorry about that… I tend to get heated when talking about those games ^^’. Anyways back on track!
As for your thoughts on the gen 3 concept art, people have speculated that it was done by Okutani Jun. He mostly did work on Pokémon games, but he did also do concept art for Xenoblade Chronicles, Mystic Arc, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles - Rings of fate and Magatama according to Moby Games. Though i’ve seen your feelings shared across other users in the tags of that post: the public demands a PSX JRPG!
#I had to self-censor a bit on that Kalos rant. sorry i just feel. i feel nothing abt those games but i also feel everything. greuh#ask#pokemon#pokemon leaks#pokemon teraleaks#pokemon ruby and sapphire#pokemon black and white

¡Introduction post!
Alola! First post here! In case you do not know me, I am Apoālewa, Champion of Alola! If my name is too difficult to pronounce that's ok, You can call me Dugga!
Here are my current pokemon with some info!
Evo the Sylveon, he's my service pokemon that helps me keep in check and ensure I'm under control of myself, he's an absolute sweetheart! He was a gift from my older half sister when I first met her(she had to adopt me after some unfortunate things that happened to me, I do not wish to say what exactly)
Mr.Squirt("lil Mister") the Primarina, my Ace in battle, he's been with me since I started my Island trials, as you can tell I was not the best at names when I was younger. He's quite a calm, gentle pokemon who enjoys his naps. He's also quite the Peirs enjoyer, you should see him make his way into whatever room has that guy's music playing!
Midnight the Lycanroc, you can guess by the name what variant of lycanroc she is lol, she's the playfully rough kind of pokemon, always nibbling on me or my clothes, rubbing her rocky parts on stuff(lost so much furniture to her). She's also what i like to call a "screamer", basically she doesn't bark, woof, ruff none of that, but SCREAMS like a bolthound that found something(usually at the late hours of the night too)
Jell-o the (shiny) Goodra, my only shiny pokemon, I found him as a goomy during a pause of rain near Po town I think, poor thing was dry from the sun:(, i got him near a shaded puddle and began to leave, but he refused to leave my side hehe, he's also caused a lot of furniture problems, he's joyfully lazy and he won't leave my chairs alone(goodra slime is hard to get out of fabric, worse is that stuff bleaches)
E ("Esper") the Espeon, a absolutely amazing if not shy companion, I got her after seeing an ad from a shelter about an eevee(her) that was used for shiny breeding and needed a home. I feel so happy that she felt safe enough around me to evolve into such a friendship related evolution. She surprisingly great in battle, the pokemon center said if mist be therapeutic for her(i make sure shes ok before and after every battle don't worry)
Mocha the (alolan) Raichu, probably my most food motivated pokemon😅, you shake a bag of food and he comes zooming, also no one told me the move Electric Terrain made them surf faster! He had to go to the pokemon center because he zoomed indoor and hit a wall🤦♂️(he's ok btw, happened several months ago)
Aohd(pronounced "ay") the Volcanrona, had no clue that Volcanronas are rare in Alola until guzma lost his shit at the sight of her as a Larvesta, she tends to lounge about ouside when not battling, soaking up the sun. Also I recommend to anyone thinking of having a Volcanrona to have a large backyard with easy access to sunlight and plenty vegetation, I've learned it's vital for their diets(just a tip)
Chase the Gardevoir, not my pokemon but my sister's, she(chase) is essentially a caregiver since Kahu(my sister) left for Paldea some time ago for education purposes, she helps me with chores and errands, she also speaks via ASL(Alolan Sign Language), I pretty much look up to her as a mother figure. Not sure where exactly she came from as Kahu found her as a Ralts on Poni island and apparently the Ralts line don't reside in Alola.
Rotom-Dex the Rotom, can't forget one of the most helpful pokemon I have! They were quite chatty too after they learned they can talk with the pokedex they possess, they're quite well trained for their job too! Always giving me needed tidbits about for forgettable pokemon so i won't falter in battle! Even though they don't battle themselves, they're quite vital to my job as champion!
¡Update!
So it seems I have been transported to the past via otherworldly means and now I have to make a new team for myself to ensure saftey, i currently have-
Mr.Squirt("lil Mister), he was one of the only two pokemon that came with me unfortunately, he's still the same ol' Primarina
"Arc-Dex"(RotomDex), Rotom, they started calling themselves that after I woke up in hisui, they resemble Akari's "ArcPhone", some modified phone. They still do not battle.
Ghostface the Cyndaquil, the professor here, Laventon gave her to me to ensure I learn of the "Hisuian" veriants of pokemon here, apparently she'll become a ghost type but i remember them being pure fire type, this may be interesting.
Anyways welcome to my blog, hope this wasn't too long! Don't be scared to ask questions!

i came here to ask the expert (you) about cute and/or badass cat pokemons 😌😌
also here to ask how you're doing!!!! muah😘
You gotta know asking me about pokemon stuff is a dangerous thing cause I'm gonna full on go down this rabbit hole and provide you with a complete essay 😌👀
There are actually quite a few cat and/or cat-adjacent pokemon so I'll try to properly break it all down
Also I'll have to break this up in parts because of the image limit 😂
First up: pokemon that are undeniably a cat
Starting with what is definitely the most iconic cat pokemon and one of the most iconic pokemon overall: Meowth
Most iconic because a meowth is known as part of team rockets most iconic team aka Jessie, James and Meowth
This specific meowth is one of the only pokemon that can speak human language (in the pokemon anime)
There are some other pokemon in the anime that can technically speak human language by using telepathy, illusions or mind control (more often than not mind control of that specific meowth actually) but the number of pokemon speaking in a human language with their own mouth is at <5 I think
The reason why this meowth can speak human language (and also why it walks on 2 legs for that matter) is because he learned it to try and impress a female meowth but she rejected him anyways 🥲
Meowth can evolve into Persian
A persian also has quite a prevalent role in the pokemon anime as the main/companion pokemon of Giovanni, team rockets boss
(Ya know it's that whole "mafia boss turning around in his chair while slowly petting his cat"-trope)
Also fun fact: it is kind of an ongoing debate whether or not Giovannis Persian is a shiny because the shiny form of persian doesn't look that different from the normal one (the most obvious difference is the pink inner ear)
and in some shots of the anime the Persians ears do look somewhat pink-ish
I'm pretty sure the most common opinion is that it is not shiny tho as its first appearance in the anime actually predates the existance of shiny pokemon alltogether
Meowth also got 2 different regional forms by now (making it one of only 2 pokemon to have more than 1 regional form and the only one that has regional forms from more than 1 region)
First off we got alolan Meowth (alola being the region/country in the pokemon world this regional form occurs in)
this one is a dark type instead of the normal type the regular Meowth is
Alolan Meowth obviously then evolves into alolan Persian
which I always thought looked like it just got it's wisdom teeth out
Then we got the other regional form which is galarian Meowth
this one is a steel type and also partly based on a viking which becomes even more apparent in its evolution which isn't galarian Persian but instead is called Perrserker
Oh yeah and then there is also Meowths gigantamax form (a special battle gimmic from gen 8 that makes a pokemon giant and stronger and changes its form) and that one is legit just longcat
There are 2 starter pokemon (the ones you get to choose at the beginning of every pokemon game) that are also undeniably cats
For one we have Sprigatito
the grass type starter of gen 9 (that everyone refused to call anything besides weed cat when it was first revealed) which evolves into Floragato
and then Meowscarada
In its final evolution it is a grass and dark type inspired by magicians and masquerades (and btw this is the starter I chose this generation cause 1. cat and 2. I always choose the grass type starter)
Meowscarada also has a signature move that imo is really goodIt's a base 70 power physical move that always hits and always is a critical hit (meaning it does 1.5 times damage)
The other cat starter is Litten
the fire type starter from gen 7 which evolves into Torracat
this one also has some hints of a tiger in its looks which is why the final evolution of this line is covered further down in the cat-adjacent section
Next up we have Glameow
another normal type that evolves into Purugly
I really love this evolution line cause you got this dainty little kinda snooty cat that goes on to evolve into a mean grumpy chonker
Now to probably the most forgettable cat pokemon there is: Skitty
another normal type and genuinely 9 times out of 10 upon seeing this pokemon somewhere I'll go 'oh yeah that thing still exists'
It's evolution is covered further down in the maybe a cat section
Another one is Purrloin
a cute little dark type pokemon that along wirh sprigatito and glameow probably resembles a normal house cat the most
Still all in all a fairly forgettable pokemon
It's evolution can once again be found further down in the cat-adjacent section
Now to the last pokemon in the undeniably a cat section: Espurr
aka if a little child that accidentally walked in on its parents having sex was a pokemon (like look this thing in the eyes and tell me it hasn't seen things it shouldn't have)
Fittingly its a psychic type cause it probably took some psychic damage from that experience
It evolves into Meowstic
the first pokemon covered here with an obvious gender difference (the left one being the male form and the right one being the female)
Meowstic is kind of on the border between undeniably a cat and cat-adjacent tho as it is technically not based on a normal cat but on a nekomata, a kind of cat yokai from japanese folklore that, according to legend, can evolve from a normal house cat

ok, i think i processed it, kind of
so, hm, as ive posted about before! im chronically ill and the symptoms reached a point i need to be taken care of/need help for a lot of stuff. so, i moved in with my dad in alola, my other option would be living with my mom in the city and 1 i need less sensory input and the city isn't ideal for that 2 my mom is poison for my health. so, im here, away from everyone i know with only farelos, dad and occasionally my cousin for company.
my cousin just started high school, and is also going on the island trials, she got a very cute popplio named netuno and everything. yesterday i went to meet him and then they told me that i was getting a starter too. dad thinks it'll be good for me to travel for my health and also so i don't depend on him as much because he's getting sick too. which is far from ideal for me i mean i only just started being able to walk around the streets and now they want me to go thru all of the islands??? and who knows how long the challenge could take too! but everyone is so excited and, if i say no ill have to leave to stay with my mom so i just had to quietly nod along to everything.
today i took some time to talk about it with my cousin though, and my roommates back at home. we agreed to just, try things at my pace you know? she's gonna help me train and stuff and said from her there's no pressure for me to stick around for the whole island challenge but that shed love my company whenever i manage, said i can quit and go home and come back anytime and all my needs and stuff can be discussed with the kahunas which is really nice. ive always loved this kid and im really proud of the person shes becoming ;w; im glad i don't have to rival her to be a part of her life as a trainer.
well, im starting training with her tomorrow cus today i had an awful sensory meltdown, but we'll see what happens maybe it won't be so bad
btw this is my litten her name is minduim
so tonight my family decided to drop an awful bomb on me, like incredibly life-plan-changing bomb that i can't get out of, i don't think I'm sleeping anytime soon now with this, can't even begin to process it
but to summarize it, they're forcing me to go on the island trials too
fuck
posts might slow down while imm trying to process this torture this madness I'm being put thru arceus he'lpl me FUCK
#itll be fine#i can do this#unreality#when its too much for me ill just quit#and when im feeling adventurous ill go back#gay rambles#pokemon#pkmn irl#farelos the eevee#i guess this girl needs her own tag#minduim the litten#shes not one for cameras unlike farelos so we will see if i use the tag much#alola diary

Hi hi!! here comes more spam related to the papa Ingo au! I come out with some ideas fixing others i had and now i thin i have a better idea of what i want in case i start writting or what, but basically i redesign the children i made during the first drawing if you remember and now they look better now for my liking!! 🙈 i feel now they do have a lil more of personality with them (?) Maybe haha idk and i also added the mom of the baby because lets be real a 3 month old baby too dangerous to be by themselves!! also here is kinda a group pic haha so i hope is ok to share my dumb dumb ideas 🙈 each kid is from a different region btw
But for what i can said the lil girl with the Chatot she was learning how to talk because has some language problems but once she got into hisui that problem grew so now she has a chatot to help her speak some words
The girl next to her she is a huge fan of pokemon the bigger the better ( she is fan of dynamax she also come from Galar, but she doesnt remember why she is a huge fan of big pokemon, which in hisui if you think about it Alphas are way to dangerous!!)
One of the twins is a huge fan of Magikarp has a Alpha one tho (is his fav pokemon so is planning to do the path of solitude with it haha)
The other twin thinks is a bad idea and Magikarp is not the best option for that
The other small kid that looks grumpy is a "rebel"!! wants to do stuff how own way and he think he is the leader of the gang which is not true, he wants to defeat kamado for what he did to them (you know making them out fo the village :'v ) so multiple times he tries to do sneak attacks to him (most of the time they fail tho)
Then the baby not much about her but she wants to spend a lot of time with Ingo
The other kid is a nerd! (He is from kalos knows about "marbles" that helped pokemon to evolve into another form he doesnt know why he knows about that but still he is sure there are some out there) when he arrived to Hisui his glasses broke so he had a hard time trying to figure out a way Lavento give him new glasses tho
The last kid is from alola (he doesnt know why he knows some weird moves everytime he tries to do an agyle or string style moves, you know like muscular memory about the z moves of each type of pokemon he just knows he has to do the moves but doesnt know why)
The we have the Mom that she knows a lot about pokemon (because back in the future she was a pokemon breeder, she is in charge of the ranch of akari pokemon (yeah i removed that npc lady hahah), she still is a breeder there in hisui kinda hard but still helps to domesticate a lil bit more of pokemon so is easy for the people to get along with them, i want her hair to resemble a shiny zorua tho 👀
And that it so muuuuuch i am sorry is so long i just wanted to share the idea tho UnU
Oh wow!! LOOK AT THEM ALL!! So cute!! OP i love the designs of all of them, they definitely have a ton of personality!! And I love that they all come from different regions too!!
My favorite is definitely the small grumpy kid. The idea of a small kid like that thinking he’s the leader of the group and constantly trying to sneak attack Kamado but failing is so funny to me haha
And the dynamax-enthusiast kid seems really sweet!! I love them too!
I really love all of the designs here though; amazing job with these!! Your artwork is so nice to look at, I love your style!! THANK YOU FOR SHARING!! I always get excited seeing artwork from you!!!! :)

CONTINUED FROM HERE
"No trials or Arceus damned Totem Pokemon? No strings attached or anything? Gotta say, that seems... awfully generous of ya, ya fiery little furball."
"But hey, if I was "destined" to come here for this Crystal, I ain't gonna look a gift Mudsdale in the mouth. And besides... I never had a Z-Crystal of my own when I was with Joshua. The only two Z-Crystals he never got were Dragon... and the Fighting one from that old geezer on Melemele."
"Hellfire Maelstrom, you said? I never paid attention to any of those musty old Alola legends, so I ain't ever heard of a move like that. But if it's as ancient and powerful as it sounds, you have no idea how excited I am to put this baby to work, Furball! Grr-ahahahahh!!!"
KASS HAS OBTAINED A Z-CRYSTAL FOR HELLFIRE MAELSTROM FROM BLAZIAE
"I bet this would make Archie's little fiery inferno move look like some stupid kid's campfire in the Lush Jungle by comparison..."

I’m getting a wild need to put out some Pokemon thoughts and no one is here to tell me to stop so really it’s society’s fault anyway let’s get to business-
-With the last few generations, I’m becoming convinced that certain Pokemon from other Gens aren’t really native to the regions we thought they’re from. Like, Eevee are supposedly SUPER rare in Kanto, and since they’re Gen 1, you assume they’re from there, but in Gens 6 and 8, you can just FIND the little buggers in the tall grass. I have a team of Eevee evolutions based off of Magical Girls because of that (we’ve come a long way from the days where we got the one and had to REALLY think about how we were going to evolve-I’m kidding, it’s Vaporeon. The answer was always Vaporeon). Same goes for Chancy, which you can just find in Gen 8 no problem, no Safari Zone hunting FOR DAYS here.
-I’m mostly going by the logic of the games since I’ve never played the card game and I haven’t really watched the show since Ash was in Sinnoh but; we need to dial it back on the Legendaries. We’re getting a little overstuffed here and if the next gen games want to only have, like, -2(?!)- then I’m fine with that. It’s less that I’m some crusty older player upset that Legendaries aren’t as spectacular as they used to be or someshit, but more I’m just getting TIRED of all the lore. Can we just have some overlap at some point? A good CHUNK of them are irrelevant anyway. Like, who cares what Hoopa’s deal even is? Or Heatran’s? A handful of them have been pains-in-the-ass event ones that didn’t even really do much and were hyped through the movies (don’t tell me Celebi was worth getting, I don’t believe that. At best it’s cute and that’s it).
-As far as Bad Guy Teams go? Don’t nobody tell me Cyrus wasn’t the biggest problem out of all of them. Team Rocket? Pokemon abusers and bad guys, sure, but also basically the mob; at best they tried to take a radio tower and a train. Teams Aqua and Magma? Eco-Terrorists and indeed nearly caused actual irreversible damage to Hoenn, but at LEAST thought they had the moral high ground. Plasma? Same thing but were also just PETA. Skull? A bunch of disillusioned b-boys and their boss just looking for places to pose. But Cyrus?! He tried to mess with reality. He led a cult of fanatical bowl-cuts to steal dangerous technology, create massive explosions to suss out powerful Pokemon and use the power of those Pokemon to steal the powers of stronger Pokemon who were in charge of Time and Space. All because he never totally “got” emotions and decided he was going to start his own reality, with blackjack and hookers. While all the other Bad Guy Team Leaders hammed it up with the best of them, Cyrus just stared and judged like a damn cat. He’s high-grade creep and I still enjoy the story in Platinum, just to see him try to intimidate Pokemon Satan, just because he thought he could pull it off.
-I actually like the gimmick that seems to be a trend now in each region having a different battle gimmick. Kalos had Megas (which are still the best btw, bring back Megas), Alola had Z-Moves (which were...fine) and now Galar has Dynamax, which I find cool on the basis that it turns Pokemon battles into kaiju battles and that’s neat. If Gamefreak can keep this up, I’m going to be genuinely interested in where they’re going to go in future Gens.
-I’m also a fan of how they just, straight up ran out of Japan. Like, the first 4 regions were just based off of parts of Japan, which was cool because I got to learn what the real world parallels to stuff in the games were, until the developers either ran out of places to base regions off of or just got bored and decided to start making them based off of other places in the world. I know I’m not the first to say this, but that decision really served to open up the whole world of Pokemon, and now we get to speculate what the next region is going to be based off of and the kind of story potential that could have. I remember being so excited for Gen 5 when I found out that it was not only going to be based off America, but specifically the East Coast, and even more specifically, the general NYC/ NJ area (you can’t tell me Undella Town isn’t Cape May). Ever since then, I’ve been seeing fun fan-made regions based off of places like the Midwest, Russia, Mexico, and so many more.
winding down now...possibly more to follow.

Some days ago I read a tweet about Gladion that make me bussy thinking theories and it helped a bit with my anxiety so, let’s share it here and see what others think...
About Gladion’s Z-Ring and Possible Z Crystals
Ok, the tweet talked about Gladion’s Z ring design and here is what I got from it, plus my own theory.
First part of the tweet talked about Gladion’s original ring in the anime.
His Z ring was Nanu’s design. Even this concept art show’s Nanu giving him the ring and we do know that he got it from him too in the games. But here is where I make this question:
Why Gladion got his Z ring from Nanu and not Olivia?
When he met Ash, he already defeated Olivia, right? If that was his first trial, then why he have a ring from Nanu?
I got 2 options for this questions:
Gladion met Nanu first and won that trial, then Nanu give him the ring and a Darkium (the previous picture mentions something about Gladion’s Umbreon, if someone can translate, it will help!)
Or Gladion met Nanu and got ditched/lost to him, yet Nanu give him the ring bc ‘the boy had potential’ or something like that.
First one would create the option that Gladion already beat 2 trials when Ash met him, while the other give the idea that Gladion traveled to another isle to keep training until he could beat Nanu.
Second part of the tweet talked about his Z Power Ring:
That was even sold as a special item-toy (that is pretty cool btw), and the tweet make me notice something that well, I didn’t paid attention before.
Gladion’s Z power Ring is not from Nanu, but from Hala, like we can see in this concept art
And the anime keeps these designs. Since the Rocket Trio got their Z power Ring from Nanu and is different than Gladion’s one.
Now, we do know that Gladion changed his ring after defeating Hala, most probably some days after the Nihilego insident, since he was already in Mele Mele. The question here is:
Why? Why did Gladion needed a new Z ring?
I don’t think that Hala could see the future and said “Hey boy! It looks that one day you are going to meet Lunala, so take this and good luck!”
And here is where theory time strike again!
Gladion have a Lycanium.
That is the option I got. I think that either Hala give him a Lycanium or Gladion got one from a totem, since Hala send Ash to make a trial before acepting the fight, he probably did the same with Gladion. We also know that Gladion have a Normalium, so maybe he got a Lycanium and the Normalium from his grand trial with Hala.
If he doesn’t have a Lycanium, then, I don’t see a reason for Hala giving him a Z Power Ring.
Aside of that the only other option for his Power Ring, is that the Tapus upgraded it like they do with Ash, but Gladion would had said something...
Sadly we will never get an oficial answer, so we only have theory time!
Finally, I would add that my theory for his crystals go like this:
Olivia’s trial: Rockium, unknown crystal (since Olivia send Ash to do a trial before her fight, she probably did the same with Gladion)
Nanu: Darkium, unknown crystal (probably) + Z ring [My theory is poison]
Hala: Normalium, Lycanium + Z power Ring
Hapu: Ghostium (He was already searching for Zoroark, so I think that either Hapu or him though on a ghost move from the fox), Draconium (he probably returned to the cave on Pony Canyon)
And that is, why are you theories guys? What do you think it happened for this boy in his travel around Alola?

Note
I thought the Kalos League was a million times better I don't get why so many people found the Alola League hype. Just compare the two and you'll see. Ash should have won there and the writers messed up which is why they let him win now. It's bs really with how they wrote sun and moon with especially with the lackluster animation. I hope gen 8 is better and they bring back serena or even lillie. Lillie was the only thing I liked about alola everybody else felt like filler characters.
Hoooo booi, can’t say I didn’t expect this kind of ask to pop. Buckle up gentlebeings, cuz this will be a long long ride:
First and farmost, I have to ask: Did you actually watch the same show I did? And many many more people did?
Because I sure as hell see a lot of people who haven’t watched the show say this exact same thing. Or the people who just have decided to have a negative view on things and not let themselves enjoy it for what it is. I don’t mean to get in a fight with you, nor do I mean to say that you haven’t watched the show. You just right away give off that vibe.
Lately, the animation did get a hit during the League, which btw is pretty much due to the bestest animators working on Ni no Kuni movie at the time of the league production btw. This I agree with. However, the overall quality and the sheer amount of Sakuga’s, which is a term for high-quality, impressive animation sequences iirc, tells that the animation is incredibly in this series. Hell, the latest episode showed amazing animation during Zoroark vs Pikachu, it’s awesome to look at and the sheer amount of movement makes me keep my eyes on the screen the whole fight. Also, the animation still looked mostly good during this league, esp. when Iwane and Shinohara and Ohashi were up.
On a weekly-airing show that is Pokeani, it’s hard to keep constant animation quality up, but Sun & Moon has by far the best consistency on it. And I’m just gonna say this: The best quality in XYZ series is in the fact that it looks pretty. There. I said it. The animation looks awesome when it does, yes, like real good, esp. during Kalos League, but I feel like the best animations only started at around Citron vs Satoshi episodes. I can say this by having watched XY(&Z) for idk... 5 times now? I think there were couple episodes before this that had great animation as well, but the fact that I can only remember the first amazing animation drive from this battle, which is during the midway of the series, tells a lot about it.
But to move away from the animation: Why did people find Alola League more hype? For me: the fact that it had character development and stories involved.
Previous leagues were mostly focused on Satoshi, and Satoshi alone. There were also his rivals from the respective series to make the league more interesting, but mostly it was just watching him win his rounds and then see him lose. Here? It is truly everyone’s league and I find that absolutely awesome!
I love how Mao and Suiren have a deep friendship bond with each other and are able to help each other grow. I love how Kaki and Mamane had this bond of a mentor and student, where Mamane, who’s always felt like he’s got no chance against Kaki, actually wants to finally beat him. I love the fact that we get to see the development of Aether siblings, Gladio and Lilie, culminate in a way where the two are battling with respect and no sore relationship problems between them, like they were having at the beginning. I love the fact that Guzma’s character grows from a person who hates Kukui and wants nothing more than destruction to his dream, to actually walk away with a smile, learning to finally show love to his Pokémon, and realise the family around him. I love the fact that Hau had his small arc of feeling like never reaching his grandpa’s expectations, but eventually getting the kind of recognision from him that he’s always wanted. Those are the reasons I myself found Alola League way more enjoyable and way more fun to watch.
When I look at Kalos League, having watches it 5 times now, I do totally love it, but I come to realise that it’s not for the characters or the story involved in it. It’s because of the fact that it’s so well animated and hyped up. Just that. I have to agree when people say that Kalos League was indeed rushed, and had Alola League not decided to actually focus on everyone instead of just Satoshi, I swear it would have had same treatment as Kalos did: only shows the last few rounds from top-8′s later half battles onwards. I swear that would have happened, because I do see why they did Kalos league the way they did: because they wouldn’t have had enough rivals for Satoshi to beat. I hear it’s also because of lack of time and how they had to rush things due to not realising the end being so near during production, but idk for sure of that. Correct me if you want to.
On characters, since you just had to bring this up as well: I quite honestly learned to love every single character on the show. Every. single. one! That is rare for me.
I love how Mao is the big sis of the group and always makes sure things work out and makign sure people like Mamane don’t say inconsiderate things. (Mamane’s just so sassy, askjfhsfh)
I love how Suiren’s this, quiet shy gal who has a big tendency to troll her friends, and has this amazing side of just becoming a very, very pissed person, if her buttons are pushed right. I absolutely adore this, and also love the fact that she is, after while, a battle-oriented girl. She’s by far the most skilled of the group’s girls, and I dare say she’s way more skilled than Mamane, and rivals Kaki and Satoshi. Had Guzma not been so ruthless in the league to her Ashirene, she’d def be the Champion. no really she would be
Mamane is a character I at the start didn’t care for, but then came to realise that his focus episodes were actually really close to home for me, and I become to adore the way his characterisation was done. He felt so real, and his love for researching electric types and developing gadgets is just awesome to see. Some people might say he’s Citron 2.0, but I see way more than that.
Kaki? Oh god Kaki has stolen my heart with his absolute passion for life, nature, Wela Volcano, his sister, etc etc etc.... I just freaking adore how he’s shown to be this cool, serious rival to Satoshi, only to actually be a total softie.
And then Lilie. Oh Lilie, she grew so much, had amazing development with her brother and mother, conquered her fear of touching Pokémon by finding the source for her fear, facing the source of her fear to save her Mother from it, refusing to let the Sandshrew tribe in Lanakila’s caves to be left to Tyranitar’s clutches alone, earning her z-crystal- oh, this is actually true to all:
I absolutely love how everyone’s treated as an equal in this series, with everyone earning their own Z-rings, own Z-crystals, having own development goals and just being so awesomely unique.
And then you just had to say the word filler. It seems like people don’t know what filler means. It’s probably become a term that’s imagined differently by everyone. But I’m pretty sure the main point of a filler, is that it doesn’t affect the story or plot points in any way possible. And you call the cast of Sun & Moon filler? In a series where everything matters, where almost every single character introduced comes back in one way or another, where everyone in Alola Squad has had a role in the main arcs of the series, and do I need to keep going?
I’ve watched Sun & Moon in marathon runs 5-6 times now. Some episodes I’ve seen a dozen times. I cannot think of how this series would have made me love it as much as I do, had it actually not had this amazing cast that it has right now. Had it not given us the amazing Alolan Family that is Satoshi, Burnet, Kukui and all of their Pokémon. Had it not given us the most happy version of the Aether Family, who might become even happier with Mohn possibly returning to the family by the end of the series. There’s so many things I love in Alola, and I feel sad that you have to come and bash it like that. If you don’t like it, then that’s fine. But please respect the fact that there are a lot of people like me, who are darn happy about this series, darn proud of how Satoshi’s grown and showcased his lovable personality in this series, and so darn proud of him finally winning a league that actually matters on same level as other game-related leagues.
Be proud of Satoshi finally winning. Don’t be salty. It’s not good for your health. Nor anyone’s.
That’s it. End of the post.
Thanks for reading everyone, I had lots to say.
#I kinda don't want any reblogs on this since i can SEE the sheer amount of people coming at this being like GRRRRR but feck it#do whatever you like#rant#long post#anon#asks

Creepiest Locations in Pokémon
So, I don't really do Top 10 lists or stuff like that but I recently recieved Black 2 from a friend and reached one of the creepy game locations (you know what I'm talking about).
Suffice to say, I thought I'd talk a little about the creepiest locations in Pokemon.
Without further ado, let us begin!
Strange House - Unova Region
Yeah yeah, playing Black 2 so OF COURSE I'd put this on the list, right? Well that's not why. I put this on the list because it, for me, is the CREEPIEST location in Pokemon. Having not played White 2 in a while (because I lost it heh heh ^^') I had mostly forgotten it until now. I find Strange House to be the creepiest location in Pokemon not just because of the way it looks. The entire thing is Hellagar creepy. Not only does it have some of the eeriest music ever, but the furniture moves on it's own. AND YOU CAN HEAR IT MOVING. Straight up paranormal crap guys (and I'd know, I have paranormal investigative training and I'm a sensitive). When I first encountered this place I was super tentative about walking around inside. I jumped three feet when the first Pokemon Battle activated, no joke. Not to mention the backstory. A little girl put in an eternal nightmare by Darkrai who never wakes up and dies in her sleep? Yeah, no thanks. *horrified shuddering* Let's move on, shall we?
Old Chateau - Sinnoh Region
Yeah, you guys kinda expected this one huh? I put this on the list because it also has some seriously creepy music. Sure, Strange House is creepy, but mostly on the inside. Old Chateau is creepy ALL AROUND. Even the dilapidated exterior just screams "Yeah btw I have demons locked up in here, that a problem bro?" HELLGAR YES, IT IS! But that isn't even the creepiest part. The Chateau is straight up haunted. Ghosts of residents and even a butler can be found wandering around inside. Encountering them is for the most part a random event, except for the little girl, who you simply encounter by entering rooms on the second floor in order. Still not the creepiest part. In one of said rooms is a painting...who's EYES MOVE WITH YOU SO IT IS ALWAYS WATCHING. Plus in the kitchen possessed tableware flies at you if you stay too long. Even better? Find all the ghosts and a secret door under the stairs opens up to take you to the basement. Lovely. And guess who's down there? The creepy as Shuppet Gengar who's been using that painting I mentioned earlier to stalk you. I was so afraid of this place that I wouldn't enter it for like 2 years after the games came out. One look and I was like "Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. Did I say NOPE?!"
Lavender Tower - Kanto Region
This is obviously a classic from my childhood. Lavender Tower was the original creepfest of Pokemon, and while it may not actually be all that scary anymore, going in there without a Silph Scope was terrifying as a kid. Literally everything was a ghost, not just the ACTUAL ghost of Marowak that haunted the place. Even your Pokemon were too scared to fight in this place. Not to mention the crazy as Shuppet Channelers walking around the joint. Yeesh. Get a life guys.
Caves - All Regions
I know, I know. You're all thinking, Seriously?! You're afraid of CAVES?! Well hold on. Have you ever walked one without Flash, back in the old days when the screen was just black? It's not so much the dark that's terrifying. It's the idea of never escaping that cave. Of being lost in there forever because you can't bear to lose those Pokemon you've spent months lovingly raising. Without Flash, your options were: Try and stumble around in the dark hoping to get lucky and find a way out, or restart your game and do things from the beginning because you done messed up my friend. Horrible. Not to mention you had no idea what might be down there.
Kaminko's House - Orre Region
I don't care what you say, when the screen suddenly goes black and white and some deranged lunatic comes flying out of a creepy mansion surrounded by dead trees roving like a madman to challenge you to a battle, it's creepy. It may not be super scary, but still creepy. Especially when you enter the building and discover that it's home to basically a mad scientist. For a while I thought the player character, Michael, was gonna almost get murdered. Super weird stuff in there I tell you.
Scary House - Kalos Region
Not actually that scary. The way this location becomes pretty creepy is by watching the XY anime episode that goes with it. It reveals the house to basically be a house of horrors for Ash and friends. The old man they find there says it's all for the sake of saying hello the Ghost Pokemon Way. Entertaining his guests with a good scare as it were, except that at the end of the episode both he AND THE HOUSE DISAPPEAR. Then they reappear for Team Rocket. A DISAPPEARING HOUSE?! How is that NOT creepy?
Chargestone Cave - Unova Region
It's dark, weird stones float around, and it has creepy music. Yeah, no thanks. That being said, I absolutely LOVE Chargestone Cave. It is one of my favorite locations in Pokemon, but it's still creepy. You can practically FEEL the supercharged air through the game screen, which sets off all your instincts to flee, and you never know when a Pokemon is gonna suddenly attack you. It just has an all around creepy feeling to it.
Pokemon Mansion - Kanto Region
Oh look, and abandoned mansion. Let's go look inside! Creepy music and statues with switches and eyes that light up? Great! Oh boy, a book! Let's read it. Oh it's a journal…with the creation of a superstrong clone of Mew in it…Oh yeah, btw you're just casually walking around in a place where Mewtwo SLAUGHTERED ALL OF IT'S CREATORS. LOVELY! No big deal, just an abandoned house of DEATH. And you better have an Escape Rope with you if you plan to jump off that broken floor, cuz if you don't you'll be stuck there…FOREVER. Place is super creepy. And thanks to the one and only Braxton Burks and his musical reboot called Kanto Symphony, it just got creepier. Woo!
Route 217 - Sinnoh Region
Yup. I'm just gonna paste this snippet from Bulbapedia:
“If the player re-enters the house near the Ice Rock after the Spell Tag is obtained, the woman that gives it has disappeared. When obtaining the Spell Tag, her speech is: "...A person...? ...A rare sight... ...Thank you for visiting... ...A gift..." The nature of the item, in conjunction with Ace Trainer Olivia's comments of hauntings in the area, implies that the woman was a ghost, specifically a Yuki-onna.”
A Yuki-onna is a Japanese ghost woman who froze to death and roams snowcovered mountains waiting to kill people. It's a wonder the player survived. O.O
N's Room - Unova Region
I LOVE N. Love, love, LOVE him, but his room is creepier than a Mega Banette in a dark alley. N obviously has some serious mental issues, and it's this implication of dereanged mental health, combined with equally deranged music, that makes this place so darn creepy. The whole CASTLE is creepy, but this room takes the cake for creepiest room in the whole building.
Abandoned Site - Alola Region
Not exactly THE scariest location, this newest of creep fests lies in the context of it and the idea of being there in person. I know I'd find it super eerie, especially at night and when Accerola mentions she thinks you're crazy because the room you found Mimikyu in doesn't exist. Gave me some chills, let me tell you. Observant players will notice Mimikyu in the background of this scene, shuffling away behind the chainlink fence.
Pokémon School - Alola Region
While normally cheery and upbeat, if the player does a sidequest in UltraSun and UltraMoon this innocent place of learning turns into the stuff of nightmares. A creepy little girl and her Drifloon want you to look into some rumors...and appear only at night. The music makes for utterly terrifying atmosphere that will give you chills, especially if you find your own school creepy at night. While the occurences turn out to be completely harmless or normal things they make for some heartpounding suspense, and the little girl and Drifloon mysteriously disappear after you finish investigating. Creepy. It is strangely satisfying if you time it right like me and end up completing the quest at in game dawn though.
And that's about it. What locations do YOU think are creepy? Let me know in the comments!

Medea Rambles: Ash’s 1st Meaningful Victory (because nothing else counts according to the internet)
Oh for God’s sake, Medea! Literally, nothing better to talk about!
You just finished four animes today alone and must work on reviews. There’s a whistle-blower causing major havoc at the White House. Your birthday is tomorrow! Why must you poo-poo on Ash’s victory?
Because bitching at things makes me whole. Especially if it’s Pokemon related!
Because after five days of watching the internet lose its fucking mind over Ash winning the Alolan League and glaring at post after post of people bypassing or insulting or simply saying “it doesn’t count” to one of my favorite battles, I feel like ripping a new asshole in several places.
But first, DISCLAIMER!
Be warned, yes this is my own personal opinion on this matter. Some people believe the exact opposite of me and that’s fine. Your opinion is noted and I think you’re trash. Take what I say with a heap of salt. Because I’m definitely in the minority. So here we go!
So on Sunday, September 15th, 2019, our boy Ash Ketchum finally did it. He did what he couldn’t do in the past 22 years. Something we only saw some mystery guy in Kanto, a random fuckboy from Johto, a dude with Meowth in Boots in Hoenn, a troll from Sinnoh, an Eevee-hoarder from Unova, and a dickhead in Kalos accomplish up to this point.
HE. WON. THE POKEMON LEAGUE!
Not since the infamous kiss of Yuri and Viktor from Yuri On Ice or the 19th episode of Demon Slayer or Myne about to be executed in The Rising of the Shield Hero have I seen such a magnitude of people losing their shit about anime. It was so crazy that Ash Ketchum was trending at #1 the entire day, news outlets like BBC and CNN were writing articles about this accomplishment, and yes, special outpouring from fans and relations alike.
Seriously, you all should read Rica Matsumoto’s interview and watch the video Veronica Taylor put out.
But I just can’t help but be bitchy about certain things people keep saying. It’s like a drill to a tooth it’s that annoying. First of all, just because he won a single championship, does not make him a “Pokemon Master”. And secondly, there was a league that Ash won 20 years prior to this victory. It’s called the Orange League.
Yes, I know. I’ve heard it all. “That’s not a real league because it was never in the manga and games. This was just a filler arc to prepare us for Johto so it’s nothing in the eyes of Arceus. The Orange Islands are a distant memory and Alola is doing everything right that your little arc couldn’t do. Screw your cherished memories! The Orange Islands aren’t even mentioned in the latest Pokemon Guidebook. They’re nothing! HARHARHARHAR”
Let me catch my breath before I threaten every fuckface that said any such thing with a punch to the throat.
Just because it wasn’t in the manga or games doesn’t mean it doesn’t count. Since when do you people hold that into account? Ash is absolutely NOT from the Pokemon Adventures manga (other manga, that’s a given) and definitely not a game character. A lot of things exist in the anime that don’t in the manga and games. And that includes characters too! Y’all remember Paul, right?
I seriously don’t get the likability of this guy. I personally find him as pleasant as renal failure. But the fanbase for this little shit is out of this world in the Pokemon fandom. And hey, guess what?! Paul is an anime-exclusive character? So should his fighting with Ash be illegitimate? Fuck no, what idiot would want that?! Right!
Add to that, the Pokemon Leagues have a different setup than they do in the manga and games. I don’t recall having to go through the top-tier system in any of the games to become champion of a region. You fight a bunch of Ace Trainers on Victory Road to level up so you can go up against the Elite Four and then take on the champion. The anime, you fight against other trainers who won the correct amount of badges needed to enter the league and knock each other out in pokemon battles.
I would always imagine that if Ash would win a championship from one of these leagues, that he would then go on to fight against the Elite Four and then Champion. But silly me for thinking such a thing could ever happen. That would have been so awesome to see in Sinnoh or Kalos! But I digress. Many things are different from the anime. Those stupid Princess (fuck I can’t remember what they’re called) that Serena was in weren’t in any other form. But people still worship the little princess and her stupid shenanigans like it’s going out of style.
In short, Orange Islands should not be written off just because it was never part of the manga or games!
Now onto those who say that because it’s from a filler arc this victory should not count as well. Or saying that because it’s different, it’s an illegitimate league and it doesn’t count. Who the fuck are you to say that? Was there a lost episode where some old crone comes and says the Orange League doesn’t count? NO. THERE WAS NOT. Now, I can’t recall if the creators/writers themselves have said anything on the matter. But until I see that, I’m just going to say this simple thing.
The word, “LEAGUE” is in the fucking title. Ash fought in the Orange LEAGUE and fucking won. Ash won a LEAGUE in 1999. There.
Now I admit, the Orange Island gyms were very different in terms of pokemon battles and even the league as well when compared to every other league up to this point. Some were a little hit-and-miss in the pay-off, but some were absolutely epic. Again, the Orange Islands gave us things you miscreants take for granted including region variant pokemon and double battles. That’s right, first official double battle was in the Orange Islands. Suck it!
But I think it’s because for the Orange League, it was only a two-episode saga and Ash was only battling one guy. Hey, don’t write that off! In case you hadn’t realized, that was also Ash’s very first six-on-six battle. And he fought against a champion who has a Dragonite with a total of 10 moves. So imagine all three Dragonites Lance uses in the Gold/Silver games and combine that into one Dragonite. The fact that Ash was able to win this particular battle astounds me to this day. I mean, if it was his Sinnoh or Kalos team, fuck yeah. But this was his early years with pre-evolved pokemon like Pikachu, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle.
Then again, Ash’s Alolan team wasn’t any better. I don’t think I should bring up that travesty you call a battle against Hau, do you? No. Let’s not!
Another overlooked victory of Ash’s was when Ash obtained all seven symbols from the Battle Frontier. Yeah, I can understand that since this was sort of filler between Hoenn and Sinnoh and there wasn’t an actual league. But can you all fully admit that you were able to defeat all of the Battle Frontier Brains in Pokemon Emerald? WITHOUT CHEATING OR USING A GAME SHARK?! Yes, Ash did that. And yes, he had to do several rematches when it came to battles against Anabel and Brandon, but he still managed to take down everyone. Yes, even Brandon with his legendary Regi-trio! Just because this was not an actual championship, doesn’t make it any less. He was offered a chance to become a Frontier Brain, but declined to do more traveling.
What I want to say is that the Orange League and the Battle Frontier shouldn’t be thrown in the trash just because they’re “different” from the status-quo pokemon league.
And as for Ash winning the league, I’m glad he finally won after such a long time. I mean, even if you did count the Orange League or Battle Frontier, it’s been a long time. I just really feel conflicted because it was THIS league that he won. Not the league where he and his Infernape proved to their rival that they are not pathetic. Not the league where he masters synchronization. This one.
The saga where he looks like Luffy’s idiot cousin. The saga where he doesn’t even have a full team. And to even come from the same league where he almost loses the whole match for putting all his faith in an insomniac birdo.
Fine, if I just ignore that match and pretend it never happened, Ash’s league matches were really good. He was able to take out the undefeatable Guzma and kicked Faba’s ass one more time just for good measure. And even though the finale was just a measly three-on-three (yeah, I’m a snob like that), Ash vs. Gladion was downright epic. Especially Lycanroc vs. Lycanroc. Give credit where credit is due.
I just ask you do the same for other victories.
BTW, Ash vs. Paul is still the best league battle. I’m just saying.
This has been Medea...and time to watch my yearly odometer roll over.

Sun and Moon’s Problem (An Honest Opinion)
For a while now the current state of the Pokémon anime has been something I’ve had mixed feelings about, and it’s been a far cry from its predecessors for sure in terms of characterization and progression. But what’s been really gnawing at me is the fact that for as bad as I find Sun and Moon, it’s shockingly what is making Pokémon — as far as some people see it — popular with the anime community and the general public! But for as positive as that is, considering that Pokémon is something that is meant to have a wide appeal range, I can’t help but feel that it’s also at the price of loosing what made Pokémon unique.
Allow me to explain, one of the appeals for a show like Pokémon is that it’s an escape from reality where you aren’t bogged by reality where everyday you can travel across forests, mountains, deserts, oceans, and through vast cities collecting badges, meet trainers and Pokémon, and to me that was amazing. Sure the battling aspect was amazing to have, but the adventure aspect of the anime was a wonderful factor to have, on top of the small cast of characters who could have varying reactions and solutions to deal with the issues of day-to-day travel life. But then here comes Sun and Moon and completely messes up the formula, Ash suddenly goes from adventurer to school boy in a matter of moments, which is without a doubt one of the biggest flaws to immediately surface for the show. Ash in all other instances has shown that that isn’t something he’d want to do, most other times he’s clashing with others, and generally it’s clear he isn’t the sort who’d want that kind of life. It isn’t to say it’s the worse thing ever, but right off the bat putting Ash into school just felt like the first mistake, because by taking away the adventure aspect the show now feels as bland as every other ordinary school based show, and hell, it’s only ‘special’ because — hey viewers — there’s Pokémon at this school...! ...Yeah, sure...I’m meant to be fascinated by that?
Another annoying point I’ve seen thrown about is that somehow this is making Pokémon ‘better’, now obviously I’m aware that this is subjective to the individual who is more than welcome to their own opinion on the matter. But what’s infuriating is when these people play these changes off as ‘better in the long run for the whole series’ just solely because it’s less about battling and more about the more slice of life side of the show...but...I really question if that’s beneficial. Pokémon lately suffers from the most mundane filer episodes ever, people say that the filler is ‘part of the story’ but I fail to see that, characters never really seem to get anything out of their experiences, the reviewers make this sound like the story is continuous but I fail to see that, there aren’t the connections established to make it look like anything was gained at all. There’s no progression, and hell, barely any of supporting cast have interesting Pokémon, let alone gags, after Marowak and Poipole none of the characters have really had a notable encounter afterwards, the likes of Mallow, Lillie, Sophocles, Lana, and Kiawe feel trapped in this void of nothingness. Sure Lillie has the most development but I feel she never really goes anywhere with that, and it’s even harder to see her growth when she has nothing to compare it against, she’s not talking over Ash’s battles, she isn’t catching Pokémon, she’s just so underwhelming. Heck, the other characters supposedly according to one reviewer ‘gain more growth in one episode than the original cast did in the entire series’...what? I’m sorry but is that really the case with Sun and Moon?
The characters aren’t a group in my view, they feel more like individuals that are crowded without any real reason to get into each other’s businesses, and they never really have any meaningful conversations with one another, there’s never a change in them or their dynamic. They don’t fight and make up, they don’t go from acting one way to another via any particular event, there’s no change in them. People say the OS group had trouble but at least they experienced change, Ash and Misty went from hating each other to inseparable, Brock went from not confident to stand up for himself to being able to take the lead in his life. With Sun and Moon...you really don’t get that feeling, Lillie’s barely shown improvement aside from touching Snowy and the others, and it’s not like Sophocles is helping others out with their issues of telling the truth...heck, Mallow feels like she’s experienced nothing at all so far.
Another issue is the handling of the Pokémon...it just doesn’t feel right, at all. Isn’t the whole crux of having Pokémon is to have partners who can grow to be strong and have their own quirks? Hell, remember when Togedemaru seemingly had a thing for Pikachu? I miss that now that I remember it was a thing, sure at first I hated it (btw, as of the dubbed Marowak vs. Electivire episode, that has returned) because it kept popping up and ruining the stories flow, but heck, even that every few episodes wouldn’t be bad because these days it’s as if Ash’s Pokémon don’t have any developed relationships among themselves or with any of the others. It never feels like there’s anything going on, they feel generic, they don’t have enough interactions with each other because we seem too focused on Ash and co. instead of equal Pokémon and human moments in the past.
Another thing about the Pokémon anime is the inconsistent idea that Ash is trying to be the best, I’m sorry but Gladion is hard to process as a rival, aside from being strong, there’s not a lot that seems to be driving Ash to call Gladion his rival. Gladion isn’t Gary who Ash just hates because of personal reasons, Gladion isn’t Paul who Ash is trying to prove a point to, and Gladion isn’t even Sawyer, who for as much as I hate, was at least someone tat Ash was showing off too, heck Misty wanted Ash to get stronger...but here in Alola it feels like he’s just goofing around with no one trying to make him improve. In other series Ash was always seen battling his friends and rivals to get better, his Pokémon sparred against each other whilst others watched and cheered, but here there’s something extremely static about it, Ash never battles long enough, nor shows off any skills, instead it’s just an exchange of moves without anything behind it. Maybe I’m speaking into the void, but the lack of this consistent training on screen, learning new moves, maneuvers etcetera makes every battle Ash has seem...not as cool as it used to be, it’s like he only trains when it’s important to the plot according to a case by case importance in each episode, as opposed to the long run. Not only that but it’s like he’s not striving for victory...though maybe that’s just me. Look, I’m not asking for the return of something akin to this apparent ‘Shojo Battling’ theme like in XY, but the least they could do is give us back the relevance of what it means to train strong Pokémon like say in OS-DP. Make the training look good, and show some progress, not simplistic class battling.
I just can’t bring myself to say this series is good. With the changes they’ve made, it feels like Pokémon have alienated their older viewers who liked them back when they were more focused. You see one thing about content making is that, yes sure, try to appeal to a wide range, get the most viewers in, but see that’s the problem, when you try to get out to a larger whole you’ll always miss a few people, whereas if you actually try and focus on a specific cohort, you will see the most success because you are capitalizing on what that group wants, as opposed to try and reach out to everyone. Now I should note that I am by no means a media expert, I’m not going to sit here and pretend I’m a veteran critic or that my words should have significant weight. That isn’t me, I’m not like other people online who act like they’re experts, this is just my a collection of my opinions as a long time fan of Pokémon speaking out to those who are like me. I don’t wish to invalidate anyone over their views on SM, but to me I feel alienated, the show isn’t as good as it could be, there’s an inferior dub, and the dynamics and direction of the show just doesn’t strike me as special.
I’m not asking for hyper focus, but I’m asking for a more quality writing and characterization, something that actually has a cause and effect on what is happening let alone for it to be actually entertaining. I’m not asking for it to reach the point where every episode is a must watch, but I ask for at least dynamic consistency, and a bit more entertainment value and character growth, puh-LEASE!
David, aka zedpercyfan’s ramble over. By the way, I wrote this quite a while ago, and only now am up to publishing it.

Hi :) Not sure if you’re still doing WoY prompts, but if you are maybe something with Wander/Awesome or an out-take from your Awesome Arc series? Which is excellent btw!
Aww, thank you for the compliment, Anon ^v^ *hugs* I don’t have any Awesome Arc outtakes, but I can write some Starfish for ya, heh. Enjoy!
The star nomad gave a happy sigh, stretching his arms out. He could already feel his fur warming under the beach’s sunbeams as a light ocean breeze blew through it. Now, he’d had quite a few beach days in his travels, but this was DEFINITELY one of the best in his opinion! “And it’s just gettin’ started!” he grinned.
“I thought that was you.” Blinking, Wander glanced over his shoulder, allowing him to spot the familiar shark-man walking towards him.
“Oh! Hey Emperor Awesome!” Wander waved, “Didn’t think I’d see you here!”
“Heh, it’s just Awesome now, remember?” Awesome smiled. As if to visually remind him, Awesome wasn’t wearing any of his formal royal attire. Instead he was wearing a floral Hawaiian shirt, swim trunks, white pumps, and bright pink lipstick with blue eyeshadow. “Anyway, s’up Furball?”
“Nothin’ much! Just decided to come out and enjoy this beauuuutiful beach day!” Wander beamed. Awesome chuckled. Sunglasses weren’t really his thing, but he was starting to feel like he should’ve worn them in front of the Star Nomad. Dude’s cheery attitude was practically as bright as a thousand suns.
“Cool,” the shark nodded, “Nothin’ wrong with just chillaxin’ on a beach. Chuggin’ down drinks, gettin’ a sweet tan-”
“Oh, those things sound fun too!” Wander chimed, “Though, I was thinkin’ of goin’ down and explorin’ the coral reefs that are supposed to be here! The coral apparently has a lot of corundum and zirconium in them, makin’ the coral look like it’s made outta jewels and diamonds!”
“Whoa,” Awesome blinked, “Wow, that actually does sound pretty cool.” Maybe not as cool as the coral reef cities he was used to seeing on his home turf, but still pretty cool.
“Uh huh! Not to mention all the fish and other creatures that we’re bound to meet down there!” After a moment of thinking, Wander looked back up at Awesome. “Say Awesome, do you wanna come down and see the reefs with me?” Sylvia had already decided to spend their first day on this planet relaxing at the Alola Tiki Bar, enjoying fruity umbrella drinks and relaxing her feet after their travels, and while Wander didn’t mind doing things alone, the only thing more fun than doing something by yourself was doing it with a friend!
Awesome hummed, thinking about it. He didn’t really have any major plans for the day, and a swim did sound nice... “Alright, Furball, I’m in,” he answered finally with a toothy grin. In a flash, he ripped off his shirt - earning quite a few impressed gasps and admiring stares from several people around him. And as he kicked off his sandals, Wander carefully took off his hat as well as his own shoes.
The water wasn’t too cold, so it didn’t take two long for the duo to wade out to a spot where they could dive. “So,” Awesome began to say, “Do you have, like, an underwater map on you or directions on how to get to these reefs or-”
“Whoaaaa!” Without warning, Wander suddenly grabbed Awesome’s arm. The former emperor instinctively let out a gasp (though the cool water he was in kept his thought from going to certain lava-filled places, thank Grop) and Wander quickly let go. “S-Sorry! Sorry! I, I didn’t mean to startle ya. I just- that’s amazing!”
“What’s- Oh.” As they had gotten closer to the water, Awesome’s gills had begun to open up. Of course, this was only natural to him. But to Wander - who had probably never even seen Awesome’s gills, thanks to the collar of his cape usually covering them up - yeah, they probably would be kind of amazing to see. “Heh, thanks bro. ...Though, speaking of which, are you gong to be alright down there? Like, air-wise?”
Wander giggled. “I’ll be fine! I’ve had lots of practice holdin’ my breath! But thanks for your concern!” Awesome smiled back at him, giving him a nod.
After swimming a few more feet, the two were finally ready to dive. Thanks to the bright colors of the coral and the bright sun above, the reefs were actually pretty easy to find. And, true to Wander’s word, they weren’t just beautiful. They were incredible.
Thousands of fish in varying shapes, sizes and colors weaved in and out of the glistening rock structures. It felt like being surrounded by a whirlpool of colors - an underwater rainbow-tornado, or perhaps the most colorful club Awesome had ever seen.
Awesome grinned to himself. It had been a while since he’d swam in something that wasn’t a hot tub, and he could admit, it was even better than he was expecting. But as he turned to say this to Wander, his attention was quickly stolen away from the beautiful environment.
It was no shock to him that Wander was a ‘free spirit’. A total hippie from the inside out, and in no moment was this better represented than now. He watched Wander ride the tides and the waves, barely moving at all with a light (if slightly puffed up, thanks to his cheeks) smile on his face. His fur rose and fell with the water, and whenever Wander did have to change direction, he did so gracefully. Like a furry jellyfish that just floated along enjoying life. Like an underwater dance, his only partner being the water that flowed around him.
The last time Awesome had watched him dance, it had been infuriating that someone could naturally be so flexible and fast while still having grace and flow. But now... Well, now he had to admit, it was pretty impressive.
Of course, that didn’t make the nomad completely oblivious to his surroundings. He’d admire the coral, his eyes sparkling just as much as the rocks. He’d also wave at the fish, his smile never faltering even if the creatures just swam away without a single glance. Awesome chuckled. Always so positive...
Eventually though, Wander’s cheeks began to quiver, his movement stalling a bit. Acting quickly, Awesome scooped him up and swam towards the surface. Once they broke through, Wander took a deep breath. ...And it would seem that was all he needed, because within a second or two, he was talking clearly. “Thanks for the help!” he grinned, “So, you ready to head back down?”
“Ready when you are, bro,” Awesome nodded, his arms still wrapped around the nomad (not that he really minded). So, Wander took another deep breath, and they dove back down.
And as soon as Wander began his ‘dance’ once more, Awesome couldn’t help but join him, staying near his side as they floated around each other and the reef. An underwater ballet. Completely free, totally content, and even Wander’s air breaks couldn’t ruin their flow.
Eventually though, their stomachs and muscles demanded that they returned to the shore, so they reluctantly complied. Still, their dance couldn’t be easily forgotten. “That was so much fun!” Wander nearly shouted as they stomped back onto the sand, “And the coral? And all the fish?! It was just so, SO-!”
“Awesome?” Awesome suggested with a grin. And for this comment, he received a wet hug in return.
“Yeah!” Glancing up at the shark-man, Wander’s smile soften. “Thanks for joinin’ me, Awesome. It was even more fun with you there.”
“Heh, well, no surprise there. But, yeah, no prob, dude,” Awesome smiled back, “Thanks for inviting me in the first place.”
“You’re welcome!” Reaching into his hat, Wander pulled out two fluffy towels, handing one to Awesome. “Maybe I can bring Syl along tomorrow! Though, speakin’ of Syl, I should probably go check up on her, and probably get a bite to eat.”
“Yeah...” As he dried his arms off, Awesome had a thought. “Hey! Furball!”
“Hm?” Wander looked over his shoulder at him. “Yeah?”
“I uh, I’ve got a beach house on the other side of this planet. And, I mean, I could probably make some calls and get a party started there tonight. And, if you and Syl wanted to come, well, I can promise you that Flex wouldn’t be kickin’ you guys out. So...?”
Wander stared at him for a moment, then grinned. “Of course, Awesome! I’d love to come to your party!”
“Heh, great!” Awesome smiled, “Good to know, dude. Good to know...” He didn’t say it, but he was definitely looking forward to dancing with him again. It was kind of nice to have a partner to show off his sweet moves with instead of just competition. “Oh, uh, one more quick thing.” Reaching into his swim trunks, he pulled out his water-proof smart phone - and he didn’t even have to say anything for Wander to realize what he wanted.
Darting back over to the shark-man, Wander perched himself up on Awesome’s shoulder, wrapping his arms around his head. Chuckling, Awesome lifted up the phone with one hand while holding up a peace sign with the other. He also moved his head just a little, resting it on Wander’s fur. “Alright,” he heard Wander say just before he pressed the button, “Cheeeeese!”

i literally just sobbed for about 10 minutes straight because of pokemon
jesus CHRIST the elite four took like everything out of me. so im up against the champion (in moon, btw) and ive got about 3 hyper potions and 2 max revives to my name. plus assorted berries that only give like 10 hp.
kukui’s lycanroc, his first pokemon out, immediately threw down stealth rock, which fucked me for the rest of the fight.
fast forward. i fainted a few, but i was down to 3 pokemon, and he had 2. my primarina got slammed by brave bird, and i didnt have anymore potions. all i could do was watch and cry as decidueye’s z move slammed down on her.
BUT!!! she withstood the attack!!! so i used her last bit of health to max revive my talonflame (named fran) then i brought fran in, who IMMEDIATELY lost half health because of those fucking stealth rocks from the beginning of the fight. so good thing i had max revive and not regular revive.
at this point i was seriously fresh out of items. and basically no pokemon left. after fran, i only had a level 43 absol who was paralyzed and had like 20 health left, and my primarina (named hana) who had even fewer HP. this is when i started sobbing because i knew this was it lol i rly had NOTHING left. but i figured i would try and hit this fucker with my one fire type move, flame charge. and it was super effective of course, but didn’t even hit half of decidueye’s health.
decidueye hit fran with spirit shackle next, which hit SUPER hard. BUT FRAN ENDURED THE HIT. one fucking hp left.
i threw flame charge again. still didnt quite do it. i could barely see i was crying so hard lmao. i was really thinking i would have to fucking do this stupid fight all over again, without the opportunity to change pokemon or get more items or anything.
then decidueye hit me with leaf blade.
AND FRAN. ENDURED. THE HIT.
I DIDNT EVEN KNOW U COULD ENDURE A HIT WHEN U ONLY HAVE 1 HP???
So im LITERALLY sitting here in shock. And I throw flame charge one last time. and it fucking does it. decidueye is fainted.
Kukui’s last pokemon is ninetails, which of course is dual type ice and fairy in alola. so with 1 fucking health, i throw flame charge one final time, and it one-hits ninetails. and i fucking won.
i honestly could not stop crying lmao i sobbed throughout the entire cutscene, ive literally never been this emotional after defeating the pokemon league. fran is my beautiful fire daughter bird and i wish she was real so i could love her irl. u bet ur ass she got like a billion pokebeans after the battle was over
#yo trixster mode sucks ass txt it#pokemon#long description of my battle with the champion under the cut lol#its rly intense#give it a read
