I know the decision to have Julian's parents have him augmented was made on the fly but imo its pretty obvious from early on that Julian has Family Issues because he avoids talking about his family like the plague and I think they should've incorporated this into the Julian and Sisko dynamic right from early on because I think it would've made for some really compelling stories and moments and could've set up a REALLY interesting Julian and Jake dynamic which they kinda started to do but never fully went for

#star trek: ds9 #julian bashir #benjamin sisko #jake sisko #s1 Julian being so young and eager to prove himself and latching onto Sisko as this mentor figure to look up to #seeing Sisko with Jake and low-key seeking that fatherly figure connection which he won't even let himself think about #Sisko seeing this young brilliant doctor who's got all the makings to be something great and he's just GOTTA help him along #I think he would also catch on pretty quick that Julian's got Parental Issues #he tries to ask one day all casual like 'tell me about yourself :)' and Julian talks about nothing but Starfleet and med school #any attempts to ask about his family are met with awkward brief answers and redirections #and then theres the way Julian's eyes light up the first time Sisko invites him to watch a baseball game #like he Knows. he's a dad he Knows somethings up #but he doesnt pry #I also think it makes their dynamic more tragic towards the end of the series #where we have Sisko asking Julian to compromise his morals again and again #Julian's trust and respect for him gradually deteriorating #and then at the end of course Sisko is gone and they have no idea when he'll be back #which I think Julian would have a lot of complicated feelings about #but of course theres also Jake #I imagine they'd get closer #very brotherly dynamic #you know that scene in TNG where Wesley goes to Riker for girl advice and Riker and Guinan start flirting?#absolutely happens but with Jake asking Julian for girl advice and Julian wooing a girl at Quark's and Jake absolutely loses the plot #makes the events of ...Nor the Battle to the Strong more intense as well I think #also I like to think there'd be an episode where the B plot is Jake gets mad at Sisko and impulsively decides to move out #ends up at Julian's because he did not think this through #Julian is now very much caught in the middle of this family drama and he Fucking Hates It #also him and Jake are NOT compatible roommates but he's trying so so hard to be nice #eventually they have a talk and Julian cryptically hints at his own home life and tells Jake he's lucky he has a dad who cares so much #them being closer would work into what Alone Together sets up for them

As so many of you are filling my inbox asking about salad and why I found the fact they had two types of salad for dinner in the Buck and Tommy dinner scene so funny, I'm guessing you're new to the 911 fandom - Welcome if so! I am going to give you a very brief rundown of salad and Buck and Eddies various relationships, but @clusterbuck is actually the keeper of salad theory and you can find far more detailed analysis over on her blog than you’re getting from me here!!

I can't find gif of the actual salad moments so have pictures!!

Chris smashed salad bowl that he is making a salad in with his dad in season 4 (in Breaking point) - when he finds out about Ana being the person Eddie is dating.

We have Ana turn up at the firehouse with Chris during the black out in 5x02 with 5 - yes 5 - types of salad When Eddie has his second on screen panic about Ana - when Ravi mistakes her for his wife.

Then in 5x03 just before they break up - Eddie, Chris, and Ana are at the dining table in the Diaz house and they are eating fruit salad

Then in 5x05 we have Taylor with her prepackaged fruit salad breakfast the she has 'made' for Buck when he gets home

she is making a bean salad in 5x09 during the most awkward I love you scene in the history of television!

Then we have a caprese salad in front of Natalia during the Dinner Buck cooked for her in 5x17 - when she finds out about various aspects of Bucks past and present - Taylor on the tv and Kameron turns up

Then in 7x07 - when Eddie is daydreaming of a do over with Shannon during his lunch with Marisol they are eating a salad

then we now have Buck and Tommy eating two different types of salad (a pasta salad and a salad salad) on their dinner date

so basically it's become a bit of a running joke that if salad is involved with Buck or Eddie and one of their dates (especially in their own homes) , the relationship is doomed!

#this is only a semi serious theory - its just amusing that pretty much every time either Buck or Eddie have a salad with one of their dates #in their own home - things tend to go sideways or south prety soon after - it is very much a pattern;#Chris makes and then smashes a salad and two episodes alter we see him literally sitting between Eddie and Ana #Ana gets broken up with after bringing salad to the firehouse and serving Eddie fruit salad when he comes home #Taylor serves a fruit salad and two episodes later we see the cracks appearing in their relationship (the truth is everything) then #two episodes later Taylor makes a bean salad and says I love you and two episodes later Buck kisses Lucy #Buck serves Natalia a Caprese salad and she runs away - she comes back but two episodes later (7x01) Buck has broke up with her #Marisol and Eddie eat salad in the Diaz kitchen and two episodes later she walks in on him in the arms of another woman - who looks like hi #dead ex wife #and now Buck and Tommy are eating salad in 7x10 so maybe we need to keep an eye on 8x02 as it may well be a moment of doom for Buck #and Tommys relationship based on previous salad sightings - not saying it will be a break up but we may very well see major cracks appearin #salad theory #its laways two episodes later!#eddie diaz #evan buckley #911 abc #buddie #buddie and salad #right in front of my salad

That episode wouldve been perfect if the pacing was a liiiitle bit slower

#look i liked it i loved it i think there was a lot of dear work put in it it was genuinely a very cool episode and all #BUT i cant get it outta my head since j watched it that it was so QUICK #i know they had to fit it all in 20 minutes or so #but it was SO rushed to me #the first part was okay #and then we move to court and it was a biit fast and i have not processed what happening yet #we dwell a bit on the court thing so by now my emotions have properly landed #although i still wish it was a little longer #and then BAM blitz being executed that part is pretty cool #but the part where he sacrifices himself also let me wishing for a longer time #although i they probably did the best on that one #and then stolas arrives and starts singing out of the blue #which okay fair thats the point he jumps to singing #but i really wish they took a bit longer on A. him stopping the axe and B. he taking in all of the situation and trying to clear things up #and THEN starting his song #the song was *also* a bit quick to me and the transitions from one layer to the other felt a bit rushed #but who am i to tell the music professionals how to music #i mean i as the audience kind of can. but i feel like its not rlly that bad or anything its just that the WHOLE episode passed in a blink #didnt give time for my emotions to keep up with everything #helluva boss #helluva boss spoilers #helluva boss s2 #helluva boss mastermind #mastermind #hb spoilers

Quick question: what is steeplechase?

basics out of the way first: steeplechase is the latest campaign in the adventure zone, a comedy/adventure tabletop rpg podcast by the McElroy brothers and their dad. griffin, travis and justin are the same ones who do 'my brother, my brother and me' if youve heard any of the clips from that floating around.

its a really fun campaign bc its set in a futuristic theme park that got so huge its basically its own city, with a large criminal underground. the game itself is centred around building rep in the underground and pulling heists in various themed sections of the park (one of them is themed on nostalgia, one of them is themed on detective noirs, one is a love island style dating show).

i think its nearing the end of the run now, most of the eps are out already and ive really enjoyed it! the setting is fantastic, the player characters are some of my faves and the npcs are all memorable. id actually recommend it to anyone who enjoys that sort of genre

#i dont like feeling like im pressureing ppl to watch/listen to stuff so im not gonna say GO GO GO LISTEN #but if you or anyone else likes that kind of setting and genre id give it a try #although if im being 100% real id say if its your first time listening to /any/ adventure zone campaigns ever then id say there are better-#-ones to start off with than steeplechase #not bc steeplechase is bad but bc steeplechase is the first time justin has ever dm'd #and he definitely finds his feet pretty damn fast but i also think the first episode setup for taz amnesty or taz earthsea goes a bit-#-smoother for a first time listener #if anyone out there is looking to get into the adventure zone as a whole id recommend starting with either amnesty or the original balance-#- arc which is a little messier but it /is/ where it all started and its still very good #taz #tazs #taz steeplechase
