im gonna be honest roz is having a bad time right now

i think i've been pretty clear about this but i think it's time i made a dedicated post about how bad of a time roz is having as of early act 3, because we kind of left off on a high in act 2 and it's been all downhill from there. so let's summarize. roz enjoyers, read on.

first the act starts with the emperor reveal. this is fucked in and of itself, not just because roz is a githyanki and the emperor is a mindflayer keeping their prince subdued, but because it is confirmation that they have trusted and sacrificed for someone who has been lying to them, and they're kind of locked into a dynamic with him that they don't know how to untangle themself from (more on this in an upcoming post). especially since....

they're partial-illithid, and not by choice. this is the real trigger of basically everything that comes next, at least regarding their emotional state. this is the thing that makes them feel violated and isolated and like they can't talk to anyone, and is the real heart behind the insecurity they're bringing to everything else.

astarion really wants to do the ritual, and it is becoming increasingly clear that that's a terrible idea. everything they learn about it implies more and more that it's going to require doing something monstrous (because of course) and that it's going to change astarion in ways neither of them can predict. please look at the point above. roz is not really stoked about changes they can't predict or control right now.

but... even though they think it's a terrible idea to go through with the ritual, astarion really wants to. and while roz has trouble saying no at the best of times, theyre definitely not in a good state to do it now, especially since astarion is pulling out all the stops with the "manipulative boyfriend" bingo he seems to be playing. paralyzing fear of abandonment + targeted manipulation + intense insecurity = a not great roz

all of this is of course also compounded by the fact that because of where astarion is emotionally (namely, terrified that cazador is going to whisk him away and use everything he cares about against him), astarion is also not exactly forthcoming with the touchy-feely stuff either, so roz is getting absolutely no feedback from him that like... they matter to him, and that he isn't one of the many, many people who seem to be using them.

and then, halsin propositions them. and while i stand by everything i said in my long meta post about the polymance being good, actually, for roz specifically in this exact moment, i think they're saying yes more out of a desire to be desired and to just turn off their brain and do what someone else wants, and less because they think this is a good idea right now. halsin is a great guy who makes them feel safe, but they are not in a headspace to properly make a decision on this but... well. they did.

and raphael and the emperor (and soon gortash, i believe) are playing tug-of-war with roz's loyalties and roz is basically being forced to decide which Terrible Guy to trust for more than two seconds. because even if they don't trust any of them, one of them has to protect them from their tadpole long enough to actually stop the world from ending.

oh, and because it shouldn't be overlooked: they are being tasked with saving the world.

basically at this point every time i play i'm just thinking "is this the moment they have a terrible mental break down? is this the moment they have a terrible mental break down?" it's like pulling an elastic too far. they're going to have to snap sometime, right?

Okay first of all Max looks at the audience and camera in pretty much every scene he's in at least once I had to make a collage to get these examples in here and I still whittle them down

You know who else explicity looked at and sang at the audience in a metatextual way??

Hannah

Hannah, on some level, knows the narrative. She knows the world's nature and the nature of a musical being a 'time loop' of sorts, which is why she sings of tomorrow never coming. A dawn never breaking.

Webby's the Queen of the White, right? And what is dawn, really, if not bringing in the light of day to the darkness of night?

Both characters seem to share an intrinsic understanding of their world, whether comprehensible or not, and on some level are aware of its function. There's a chaos to their worlds and they always end in an apocalypse, but it's all practiced. It's all a loop. (roz and guil moment tbh)

But what I'm proposing, is that Max is a Hannah gone wrong. He can see the audience, understand the narrative and his place in it ("Don't need no-one to tell me, high school will be my peak, so I'm willing to take advantage" ) (" you can leave, but you won't, stay in your seat") but doesn't have the full scope of awareness that Hannah does. Hannah can see Webby and understand the story straight from the source, while Max pieces it together from the audience. Maybe Webby tried to explain things through them and Max just horribly misinterpreted it. Maybe he knows exactly what he's doing and has given up trying to find another solution. Maybe he never had a chance to escape the web in the first place.

Maybe webby gives him directions, tried to explain things to him, tried to get him to see the order beyond the world like Hannah, but it just never landed as well. What could really have spawned a god complex more than getting a glimpse at the True Nature of The World and knowing you're the one to make it happen. But Webby is the queen of the White, so it only seems to reason she brings Light to Darkness.

So not only am I going to say that Max is a Webby prophet, but also I ask you, where do you think his god complex came from?

(also he like deadass controlled the lights like straight up just made it darker the bitch controlled the lights why does no-one else care about that but me-)

TL;DR: Max is a Webby prophet currently stuck on the recieving end of the world's worst game of Divine Interpretation telephone and is taking it Really Well 👍

OP I AM BACK AND I HAVE WORDS!!!

Roz and Fink's relationship is honestly one of my favourites in the entire movie? Like the very first day, Fink waited until Roz shut off before slowly walking to snuggle her, all because he was so lonely and wanted her company! And the next time we see them? We watch him silently judge Roz and Fink for their neurodivergent weirdness (I love their relationship too btw they were copying him!!!), he just gives Roz more things to mimic, making a fun game out of it! I love that we skipped whatever slowly warm up period they definetly had, and showed how they became rocks in each other's lives! I was reading an article about moments in the movie (look I saw it on opening weekend and I needed a more spoiler review of it that YouTube reviewers were (fairly) not giving yet) and the person pointed out that when Roz asked what to do if the person you love isn't around to see it, HE DEFLATES!! HE WANTED HER TO SAY IT BECAUSE HE CLEARLY DOESN'T WANT/DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO, THE ONLY TIME HE GETS THE COURAGE TO ASK HER TO STAY IS AT THE END IN FRONT OF EVERYONE AS A MINI CONCLUSION TO HIS ARC, HE COULDN'T SAY IT TO HER PRIVATELY BUT HE WANTS HER TO STAY SO MUCH HE'LL SAY IT IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE FOREST!!

AND ROZ! SHE SEES RIGHT THROUGH HIM, LEARNS HOW HE LIES, AND BECOMES BETTER! SHE BECOMES A FAMILY WITH HIM AND BRIGHTBILL AND I LOVE ALL THEIR TALKS DISCUSSING BRIGHTBILL!

There's a lot of fandoms I don't leave – World of Darkness and Warhammer 40k predominantly as settings I always have another angle I want to see explored in!

I do however have the Magic the Gathering bug, even though I haven't really played in years and years now – but card interaction as a generation for narrative has always kind of captivated me? Like there's a couple big mean Ogre cards that make Rats more dangerous, but due to the way the systems work they also empower the Ratfolk of Kamigawa, the Nezumi, as they count as 'Rat' cards still. So big Ogre spellcasters improving Rat people as part of a contained bit of narrative kind of fascinates me as a concept.

Plus each deck presupposes a Planeswalker character who's casting those spells – and I was always intrigued by that notion and so most of my OCs are representative of decks I played (or wanted to :P) and then in turn each Planeswalker needs a Plane to come from, probably from a still existing culture on that Plane too, and so it can kind of wonderfully reverberate inspiration.

Like how every VTM Kindred OC presupposes a Sire!

I'm making a TTRPG!! It's a Powered by the Apocalypse engine game, about serving as the primary field agents of a faction of people who need your support and protection. Because if you're going to be a hero, who are you doing it for if not your kin?

Setting agnostic as hell, excluding some implicit need for magic in the class moves – I'm prepping to playtest this in sci-fi and fantasy settings to see how well my mechanics hold up in both swords and firearms based stories. Plus I'm going to explore a variety of perspectives of what the faction can be – from ethnic groups, to gangs, to guilds, to neighbourhoods.

I'm VERY excited about all this!!

If I ever turn them into stories I think I'm gonna have the centre conflict revolve around lying. They all have done majorly fucked up things in the past that, if come to light, would make them not be able to look eachother in the eyes. So they agree to never speak about who they were/what they did before Belldale.

Izzy has never left belldale and his history is somewhat of an open secret (the abuse, the addictions, the trauma is all worn on his face, sleeve and demeanour), but Jackrabbit made sure no one knew that he was the one that caused the Bela debacle. Not because she cares for Izzy, but because if people target izzy they target her, and she cannot ever appear vulnerable. The canines are only allowed to exist because she seems unshakeable and constant. Immortal. Eventually though, when the govt starts poking the canines and jackrabbit starts unravelling, his crimes will come to light. Or maybe he'll slip up and say something he wasn't supposed to know. Or maybe he'll start getting targeted a suspicious amount. Because after all, how could be an alcoholic kid that important to the national government.

Roz straight up used to work against the canines. The canines are the dominating group in the federation, but the closest rival, the townies, are based in Rovenport where Roz used to live. She started out as a fighter for their boxing clubs but quickly became a body guard. She was originally sent to belldale to sabotage, but the entire operation went tits up and people don't ask too many questions around those parts. The canines sort of have a don't ask don't tell policy. Her doom will most likely be her old colleagues recognising her and wanting revenge for sinking the mission. Or maybe there's been a leak on the townies' side and the names/faces of the high ranking members will reach jackrabbit.

Mika killed his dad. It's actually the crime most forgivable, but only cail knew what he did. Not their mother, not his sister. His secrets are way more acceptable (I avoid using the word moral because on the occasion he has made bombs), but they'd still change your perception of him. I think he'll just non chalantly admit it in the middle of a drinking game. Or maybe... roz will think about making amends with her father only to find out that he's been dead for years. Maybe returning to Rovenport to seek out her father is what gets her caught.

Cail's biggest fuck up is willful ignorance. They were ripped from this reality and shoved into a world with 4 dimensions where they gained sacred knowledge and was tasked with killing a god, but they declined and went home. They practically brought about the end of the world and just sort of ignored that. The 4th dimension held onto them for a while and tried to pull them back, bit Cail severed their connection to that. They could've saved the world but thought "nah fuck that I'd rather go back to bothering Mika." There isn't an answer to the question of how much he'd sacrifice because he couldn't be fucked to care enough. Truly, I have no idea how the others would find out about the existence of the 4th dimension or an impending doom originating from there. For all they know Cail had a psychotic break and carved out their own eye.

Hedry, the ever-loyal and considerate Hedry is the only one who can be blamed for her fate. She and quite a lot of her school friends left Manfort Isle for Ineverue and she is single-handedly responsible for one of their deaths and dissolving the group. She is the one who got them into crime. She is the one who got police sent after them. So she fled to Belldale. She, unlike the rest, talks alot about her time in Ineverue, but she seemingly seems to forget the most painful details. The others don't question why she suddenly left for Belldale but they will once they find the police reports.

Julia... has too many secrets to count. He's a hyperreligious liar who only answers to his god and thus would throw everyone that cares for him under the bus in the name of staying faithful to a canonically uncaring god who will sentence him to hell regardless. He lies for no reason and no remorse. The fact that he's faked his death twice before aren't even the craziest things (Okay yeah and he's also killed innocent people in the name of pettiness). Even I don't know why he fucks people over that much. His real self being revealed is directly linked to Izzy getting suspiciously targeted, because he's the one to rat him out to the government people and after Izzy gets back from his little meeting with the officials, he starts to wonder how they could know. Besides, the only people who know are either dead or Jackrabbit and Julia...

Season 4 and bonus Season 5 Frasier thoughts! :DDD

S4: Niles's comedy just keeps getting better and better (The Two Mrs. Cranes and Head Game and Thanksgiving were hilaaaaaaaaaaarious early S4 eps.); and his and Daphne's tender moments are just so soft and, well, tender. Thanksgiving: what an episode. Wow, loved it. The Crane men crying in their living room, the banter and baseball gags later with Freddy, and their reactions to Frasier's ham radio show were great! The Maris plotline isn't gone; buuuuuuuuuut Niles and the bird and Marta and the leadup to his question to Frasier and Frasier's honest answer (Ask Me No Questions) were worth it. Bebe was great, and Sherry was... well, she was Sherry. Writing on the wall that she wouldn't last long with Martin; but... I don't know, not my favorite sideplot. Not bad, but not my favorite. :D Roz had some EXCELLENT episodes. And I'm cycling back to Niles, but his and Daphne's ending convo in Mixed Doubles was really, really good.

S5: Roz is pregnant! Roz had a kid! That was quite a storyline. Great conversations throughout, great hijinks, great comedy. In a weird way, I'm glad her pregnancy wasn't made into a big "thing" other than the important points it brought to the plot. (The baby's grandparents-- I love them AND their noses. It just reaffirmed how nonplussed I am with noses, for some reason. XDD But the comedy.) Again, great Niles comedy-- with Maris, with his family-- and bittersweet realities as he finally drew away from his ex. The cruise episode-- priceless. Martin's birthday-- touching. Perspectives on Christmas-- great work (the gaps in Daphne's version! XDD) I was so, so, SO happy when Bulldog got exposed and beaten up by everybody. First Date, Roz and the Schnoz, and The Life of the Party were spectacular back-to-back episodes.

Wait, I SKIPPED an episode??? Apparently, I somehow missed Room Service; which I think? I know some spoilers for but all the same. Lilith's in it and I missed it????

Welp, going to definitely watch that this weekend. XDDD

For me, I think Season 3 and 4 hit a slump that Season 5 launched the show out of. At least, I noticed a shift in S3 that didn't quite jive as well as S1 and S2. S4 had its ups and downs; and S5 knocked it out of the park. Can't wait for Season 6~.

The Sherry sideplot isn't my favorite either, but I like the episode where she and Daphne fight so she goes to Niles' apartment. Mixed Doubles is such a funny, wonderful episode! My favorite moment from season 4 - apart from Ham Radio - is when Niles is in the bathroom at Frasier's and the Hot 'n' Foamy explodes. It's one of the funniest moments in the whole show and DHP plays it so well.

You need to watch Room Service! I love that episode. It definitely has Lilith in it. I agree with you on season 5. It's far better than season 4 and it's like the show found its groove again. The cruise episode is super funny. I love that. the Ski Lodge is super funny too. There are always so many good episodes! Though it has one of my least favorite episodes and that's Beware of the Greeks.

Season 6 once again has some of my favorite episodes. I hope you'll enjoy it too. More than that, though, I hope you're feeling better by now ❤️

Oh, my god. I think my soul almost shat itself when Lou landed that Nat 20. Snow better not have done anything to Scheherazade and the Lines-Between Squad or I'm....gonna stew in impotent anger behind my laptop cause I'm only a viewer. And last but not least, if Tim is the Golden Goose's human-sona, who's the Ganders?

What an INSANE moment. This season has been all over the place but geez, I think this goes up there with the other legendary Dimension 20 Nat 20s. I seriously thought they were toast when Brennan set the minimum DC to 25. What a crucial moment for the dice rolls to go your way. Absolutely wild. 

This was one of my fave episodes from a storytelling standpoint because I feel like there was a lot of positioning towards a conclusion. The Goose investigated what it is that the PCs actually want to do which I think is important. They don't really have a big overarching thing that they've decided is their goal since their plan initially was to just join up with the princesses and that super didn't work out. Now that they have the book back, they've gotta figure out what it is they actually wanna do (and I would say some of that lack of direction is due to lack of understanding of the holistic situation but we are so close to the end of the season at this point so I'm not even gonna harp on that).

We're also finally getting back to the Lines Between stuff which is like a split "yay!" and "oh no!" situation. Yay because we're finally checking back in with Scher who is one of my fave if not my fave NPC but oh no because it's not like she's drinking pina coladas and having a good time. Clearly they want to use her for the princess plan--which points to a specific princess not being needed if they can just swap out Roz and her. I do wonder how much of an element of buy in they need. Like, the vibe I got is that snatched Scher, not that they convinced her. She doesn't seem the type to be like yeah, sign me up for the death cult (though neither did Cinderella with her "don't lay the sins of individuals on the entire world" talk) and the princesses are totally chill with lying or withholding elements of the truth.  If they just need a body and no buy in, they possibly could have just grabbed her. If they need buy in/wanna play nice, they might have half lied to her like they are presumably doing with Elody.

I will say, if she is kidnapped in the traditional sense, Scher has a LOT of experience being imprisoned by a captor who plans to kill her and changing their mind, so as annoying as this is for her, it is also her favored terrain so to speak. If Brennan wants, he could very plausibly have Scher do some of the princess schmoozing that the PCs utterly failed at. Just for story efficiency's sake. I'm getting the sense of, "We are getting to the end game so let's get all the pieces where they need to be on the board." So Tim gets his book back. Tomas and Henry returned. Scher back in the main story. Muffet and Itsy Bitsy in the book to tie up those loose ends. DM housekeeping. 

I don't know if the Gander HAS a human-sona. The Goose has Tim as a human-sona because in stories the "Mother Goose" character is sometimes a person who rides a goose and sometimes a large anthro goose (usually with a bonnet). It's interesting though because in the main mother goose poem it says that Mother Goose rides "a very fine gander". Which just makes me wonder how that connects. And then of course, there's the saying about what's good for the goose is good for the gander. There's a thread that Brennan has mentioned a couple time but no one's followed up on seriously. About what is the gander when it's not stuck in the Neverafter. We don't know exactly what the Gander represents. It's not death or the end of stories because that's the wolf. My best guess is that the goose is like positive (for the protag) plot developments and the gander is bad ones. So I'm wondering if, for example, the gander was to move to the horror section of the library, would it just turn into a creepy killer clown or a ghost or something?  I dunno, just spitballing.

Anyway, looking forward to tonight's ep! Maybe we're finally gonna get an answer on those red beads!!!

I’m not sure I’ve read a Lilith fic before, I usually stuck to fic about the kids. Wouldn’t be opposed, I could be here for Lilith/Zelda for example.

I love that this like… almost makes sense? Sabrina/Harvey as endgame cracked me up. I would name this fic “long story short” after the Taylor Swift song. I wouldn’t make anyone write or read it though.

Don’t have to imagine, Ambrose/Prudence remains iconic. Probably ended up being one of my favorite relationships on the show.

What kind of plot would you use if you wanted 6 to deflower 8?

What if Roz wanted to deflower Prudence? Seems… improbable lol. Maybe Roz could be the first person Prudence has sex with where she actually has feelings? I think Roz would be very respectful and Prudence would be a little standoffish but then melt. Of course there’d be some world-ending drama that would force them to work together, which would get them talking and Roz would see past Prudence’s prickly shell.

true neutral leaning to neutral good. they make most of their decisions from the "what benefits me/the people i care about the most" viewpoint with a little bit of the caveat "without needlessly fucking over random people"

10. If your Tav didn’t become an adventurer, what else would they be doing?

the last time they were in faerun they were making a living as a bounty hunter/contract killer in baldur's gate. they were good at it. so probably that!

13. How does your Tav fight in a combat situation?

in game mechanically a lot of their time is spent using ensnaring strike on an enemy and then shooting them until that guy is dead, rinse and repeat until the encounter ends. occasionally they'll also pop divine favour for some extra radiant damage, or cast shield of faith. in my mind palace where roz is allowed to be a powerful scion even before the tadpole, they do that but with a hefty dose of "also i can light you on fire with my mind <3"

20. If you’re romancing anyone, why did your Tav fall for them? And why did that character fall for your Tav?

ive talked about this a little bit before, but initially roz was not falling for astarion. it was like, "okay yeah we'll sleep together because you want to and i dont really care." but eventually, as roz got to start seeing a more genuine side of astarion and he started to really... mean the things he was saying to them, it became a lot more about "i think i can care about you, and maybe... just maybe... you could care about me?" and that's the sort of thing that shakes roz to their core. and coincidentally, astarion kind of goes through the same thing.

23. What is your Tav’s favorite moment they’ve had with their lover?

not you sending me questions that are making me go (*/ω＼*) in real life... okay with halsin i hc back in the shadow cursed lands that he would turn into his bear form and let roz sit up cozy against him because they are always cold (they are a toothpick) and i think that was just... really nice for them. with astarion.... i think the first time they end up in roz's tent together without any blood-drinking or sex. without even the suggestion of it. that's when it first hits for roz that this might actually be about more than a transaction, so that's their favourite moment.

32. How did your Tav get their scars, if they have any?

i promised id wait for this information to be ASKED for so here we go. basically i hc that roz was from a really small creche and when they were young-ish (10-12) a training raid drew a little too much attention and the creche was attacked. and well... you know how ive said before that they arent a very good githyanki? when their creche started to burn, instead of taking up arms, they hid. everyone in that creche had either told them they should be culled or had tried to cull them, so they didn't really care if the place fell apart. however, while they were hiding, a pile of burning debris fell on them, fucking up a lot of their right side. they managed to escape the creche and do-gooder types who had no idea what was happening saw a dying kid and dragged them to the nearest temple of lathander, and the rest is history.

not to be so so so so so sappy, but whenever they get to cuddle astarion. dont tell him this, but he's kind of. everything to them.

for some reason, the ship name "Mamtella" and I'm not sure if others will end up liking and using the ship name besides me, the ship name pop into my head because of these two...

but yeah, for some reason the ship name Mamtella, makes me think of something that goes on bread and you eat...

and just so ya know, the Sari in the red dress in both her human form and the disguise form thanks to using Asmodean Crystals that are in her hair-clips.

and the one of Sari that is really close to Cherri, and both are wearing a Holiday/Christmas outfits...

well like I pointed out before, this version of Sari is 23 years old, and at some point her eyes become purple, so even in her robot mode, she will have purple optics.

I kind of want her to get involved with a Robo-Fizz which she ends up nicknaming "Rozz" which comes from the name where she can get the idea from...

Robotic Fizzarolli...when you take some of the letters, you get Rozz.

it's like the name Roz but with two "Z" instead of one but the name is still pronounced like Roz with only one "Z"...

I plan to add that in Falling For The Angel In Disguise over at Quotev (the story is on a little hiatus, I might not update it until either later or tomorrow or 2024. and I know the story isn't 100% perfect and I might not make it very long but I'm going to try my best, even if it has a bit of a Semi-Ship between Swindle and Adult-Sari which might become a full ship later on.)

to which I guess it is a spoiler that I may have said before, that I changed it so the character that was originally the main character turns out to be a faux main character and the new real main character is now the Adult Sari Sumdac.

and even if not everyone has to agree me on this, but I can't help but think Abel may have had a little bit of vainglory in him, and both brothers ain't exactly 100% innocent in the actions they have taken...

Abel needs to learn a bit of more Empathy and be less vainglory if it does turn out he may have been suffering from that vainglory and that might of been the reason why he couldn't see Cain was hurting and was going to break at any moment in a very dangerous breaking point.

it be interesting if in a Fanon AU, Cain goes to Charlie's Hotel to be redeemed, well him and Abel...

anyway since some "ships" aren't always romantic, and there are platonic types which you NEVER use the words "I ship it" on, because it would give the wrong idea...

for family or friendship, where they are just family or friends...

ya use "I fam it" or "I bud it" even with some characters who are friends but end up bonding like siblings even when not being biologically related, you go "I sib it" which the "sib" part is short for sibling.

ya NEVER use the words "I ship it" with those types, you only use "I ship it" for the romantic & in love type ships or like the young love types....it should be considered a unspoken rule between the shippers, to NEVER under any means, call something that isn't a ship "I ship it" when it isn't.

it be like if Fizz and Ozzie weren't the most Adorkable Sweet Potatoes, who are just too cute and being as adorkable as sweet potatoes that they are, have no idea they are technically dads...

even if it might not end up being canon or mention in the show, and I don't mind if it stays in the fanon but I'm still gonna view Fizz and Ozzie being the Dads of the Robotic Fizzarollis that they technically created together, even if Fizz was just the template...

and after saying all this, Ozzie and Fizz are processing everything...

then the next thing Sari and Rozz knows, both Fizz and Ozzie end up fainting.

even if the whole idea that Ozzie and Fizz technically being Fathers to all the Robo-Fizz would be more fanon and not likely to be brought up in the show, it's okay if it just ends up being fanon.

plus if Ozzie and Fizz did adopt Oliver, that would give Oliver a lot of Big Brothers to protect him.

Ozzie, Fizz and Oliver is a "I fam it" which has Ozzie & Fizz being the Dads and Oliver being their new son.

I'm still going to fan-headcanon that Megatron has two Moms, which is his Carrier Solus Prime and Mentor Termagax.

Megatronus Prime is the Sire who didn't get custody of his son, but when he tries to bring up the idea of wanting to spend time with him, his Ex-Sparkmate Solus and Solus's current sparkmate/junxie...

would both be giving Megatronus Prime very hateful and dirty looks.

so if Solus Prime was in a TFA Timeline, she would be one of Megatron's Moms, who tends to baby him a bit more than Termagax did.

Growing up, Steph had the perfect family unit. A mother who adored her and a father she could rely on. She had a normal and albeit all American childhood with a two story house on the corner enclosed with a white picket fence. Penny, her golden retriever, was even in the mix. It was all perfect until one day when the ground fell from beneath her feet. Her day started normally, she’d kiss her parents goodbye before heading out, walk to the bus stop, mess around with her friends, go through her classes, etc. On this particular day, none of this happened because when she woke up that morning, officers along with her mother were waiting for her in the living room. Her mother’s face was ashen and her eyes shattered beyond recognition. It was then Steph knew her whole world would crumble. Her father had been murdered, they said. A gun shot straight through his brain, killing him instantly. Steph had fallen to her knees weeping, the contents of her stomach splattering onto the hardwood beneath her. That day always had become stagnant in her mind. Always close enough to touch. 

The impact of her father’s death changed her completely. She became someone unrecognizable. Hanging out with the wrong crowd was only the beginning, soon she started dating the wrong boys. There was one boy in particular who made her feel special and she fell madly in love with him. So in love that anything he asked of her she gave. One day he asked for nudes. Nudes he later sent to the entire student population via text. This alienated Steph, and everyone including her friends shunned her. They ostracized her and she fell into an even darker depression. That summer she tried to commit suicide. When her mother found Steph unconscious in the bathtub, it gutted her. She decided as Steph was being taken to the emergency room that they would move. Enough was enough. That summer Steph and her mother relocated to Tree Hill, North Carolina. A place where Steph promised her mom she’d try, a place where no one knew her name or her story. A place where she could be someone new. She decided she’d try changing her outlook, even if it meant taking it one day at a time. 

Steph completed her last two years of high school at Tree Hill High where she found some semblance of normality. She was on the cheerleading team and a part of the debate and drama clubs. Suddenly her past was just that, her past.

Not wanting to leave her mother, Steph decided it was best to stay in Tree Hill for the next two years and attend Cape Fear Community College. She’s majoring in pre-law and wants to transfer to Duke midway through her undergrad. With exercise and therapy, she has become more grounded and wants a career where she can help people. A career as a defense attorney.
