♱⠀ “OLDER SISTER Y/N.” : BLLCK BOYS !
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀“DIOS MÍO, YOU ARE SUCH A NERD.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⟣⠀IN WHICH .. i demonstrate how i think my version of y/n would act as the older sister of different blue lock boys.
⟣⠀GENRE .. older sister!y/n. fluff. comedy (??).
⟣⠀CONTENTS .. fem reader. mutual pining. sibling banter. older sibling protectiveness. older sister teasing.
Tumblr media
⠀✩⠀⠀ISAGI FAMILY
♱⠀Y/N ISAGI⠀who enjoys teasing and prodding fun at the fairly short Isagi. he’s always been smaller than the girl, even when they were little kids. their parents were unsure where the girl got her genetic muscular physique or height, Isagi indefinitely envying his older sister for her advantages.
♱⠀Y/N ISAGI⠀that would bully the bullies who picked on Isagi and his friends as kids. no matter if they were simply calling him names, or if they were full on pushing him around; Y/N was always right there pummeling the kids’ faces in and throwing them into trash cans so even when they got out, they’d reek. just like their attitudes.
♱⠀Y/N ISAGI⠀is the definition of fuck around and find out. she never once threatened people when it came to her brother, she just waited til they thought he was an easy target and then she’d make her move. yeah, her careless actions caused her to be suspended quite a lot, but that wasn’t important to her.
♱⠀Y/N ISAGI⠀who, despite going through hoops to make sure her brother was protected in the real world, would willingly give the small boy wedgies and put his favorite things on high shelves so he couldn’t reach them. no one was allowed to mess with her brother besides her, and she made sure that everyone knew that.
♱⠀Y/N ISAGI⠀that helped train Isagi into the stubborn egoist he is today, the girl forcing him to grow thick skin as a kid so he wouldn’t be pushed down so easily by other players who were equally as stubborn and hard headed as he was. it was a tough journey, but in the end paid off when she saw him on the big screen playing like an absolute menace.
Tumblr media
⠀✩⠀⠀BACHIRA FAMILY
♱⠀Y/N BACHIRA⠀that adores every last inch of her psychotic little brother. she’d sacrifice everything just to see him smile. she knew how people felt about him, and for most of their childhood, she tried to shield him from the fact. yet, once they reached a certain age, kids stopped caring and just straight up told him; leading to the girl putting them in their place for speaking ill of her brother.
♱⠀Y/N BACHIRA⠀who couldn’t help but poke fun at and tease her brother when he first grasped an interest in soccer. with phrases like “ay, coño, it’s the damn hispanic in you” followed by a sarcastic face palm. or comments on what player he liked; “dios mío, you are such a nerd”.
♱⠀Y/N BACHIRA⠀is the embodiment of older sister. whenever she wasn’t teasing and beating up her brother, she was mentoring him on how to treat a lady, or just plain out beating him up just for the sake of it. she loved him, but she was the eldest so she had to keep the tough love reputation.
♱⠀Y/N BACHIRA⠀will always put family first. no matter how many of her “friends” tried disliking her brother, she’d rather kick their asses for their weird glares and odd comments than ever choose to stick by them. did she get an expulsion scare for doing so? possibly. And, she’d do it again if she had to.
♱⠀Y/N BACHIRA⠀that goes out of her way to sneak into blue lock just to visit her little brother and taunt him about being cooped up in a facility with a bunch of dudes for weeks on end. she may have threatened ego and anri a bit to give her brother his phone so he could text her, but she swore to him she didn’t do any real damage. (no promises tho)
Tumblr media
⠀✩⠀⠀NAGI FAMILY
♱⠀Y/N NAGI⠀is seishiro’s biggest competitor. from the moment they both picked up a game controller they were always butting heads; in the sibling type of way, of course. she’s the one who taught him everything he knows of course, but didn’t mean he had to go easy on her. and she didn’t want him to.
♱⠀Y/N NAGI⠀would non stop pick on the boy for his height as a kid due to the fact that he was fairly small for his age. however, once junior high rolled around, and he hit the preteen age; Y/N wasn’t the only freakishly tall person roaming the home anymore. with her standing at 6’5, and seishiro 6’3, their parents couldn’t keep up with how much the pair grew.
♱⠀Y/N NAGI⠀that knew her brother wasn’t much of a people person, so he didn’t have many friends. so, she made sure to stick by him throughout school. even though she was in multiple sports, she dragged him along to practices and games just to get him out of the house. he hated it, but knew she was only doing it out of love so he abided by her.
♱⠀Y/N NAGI⠀who tried getting seishiro into basketball, mainly because it was the sport she loved, but also due to his height. the kid was amazing at it, but he didn’t have any interest in the game. the girl knew it was a stretch but at least she tried, so she just continued to let him drown himself in his game.
♱⠀Y/N NAGI⠀adored the fact that seishiro alas found someone who could push aside the fact that he was always playing video games, the girl treating reo like a second brother. anytime he tried getting seishiro to play soccer with him, it took both kids to ambush the boy before they forced him onto the field for a little. it was a drag, but she loved seeing him finally have someone other than herself care about him.

hi hi hi!!! what ocs do you have? is there a post in ur blog i can look at for info? which is ur favourite?
Hiiiii. I need to update my master post, so- not exactly to the first one- But I’ve got a whole lot and they just swim around my head!
How can one pick a favourite oc tho… *squint* tough call between Liz n Jay are both such fun n chaotic beanssss
Tumblr media
Jay has about a million names. I’m in the mood for Captain Jay Owens, so let’s go with that! Psychological experiment(long story), Air Force captain (dishonorably discharged), present day mercenary. She and a team of thieves travel the world, doing miscellaneous jobs and monitoring another team they used to work with. Despite her flying skills, she’s our sassy pickpocket. ‘Prefers her lifts to be a little cocky, like in the middle of crowded rooms when there are multiple sets of eyes on her.
The other team they keep in check is probably their biggest competitor (not that anyone in the crew would openly admit it).
Tumblr media
Elizabeth Kore. My little witch. Shapeshifter adopted by the headmistress of an academy and taught to control her abilities. Before the help things got- explosive-
Her story is set in a Steampunk 1700s, before the Revolution. Amidst the chaos and threat of war, a nobleman tries to take over the town she’s living in. Before everything went south, she had made a deal with him in order to get protection in the slums (tiny bean in a shady part of town, not good), but noooow she has to find a way out of it. He’s not happy, her friends aren’t happy. Everyone is scrambling to get things resolved.
One of my few OCs who can’t pick a lock nor a pocket?? XD

at all of you who think connor “sonic kinnie” eatspants is the only one who’s well adjusted with a therapist, based on his diary, i would like to invite you to consider him talking about this with a therapist.
connor: so yeah, my friend died of a heart attack about it today. i know some people are kind of happy about it because he was a bit of a shitty person, but still made me sad, y’know?
therapist who’s just started seeing him: oh, that’s- that’s tough, i know people aren’t perfect and it can feel like they’re disrespecting his memory.
connor: oh no they’re justified he was a president who exiled his competitors. even if they tried to blow up the country and him multiple times.
therapist: oh-
connor: and forced his right hand man who was a traitor to decorate his own execution
therapist:
connor: still makes me kinda sad tho. made me really think about mortality
therapist, desperately trying to get back onto better ground: death of a.... f r i e n d.... is always hard in that manner, how have you gone about processing it?
connor: decided i’m going to try to solve mortality. or death, i guess
therapist:
connor: i won’t if it’s too much effort tho
alternatively:
connor, rolling in: sup you won’t believe the day i’ve had
therapist, tiredly: did you get waterboarded again. do we need to go over self-esteem exercises and anxiety control. or war crime hotlines.
connor: no, surprisingly. do u take recs tho, or know a doctor who does
therapist, scribbling smthn down: ,,,,yes? what resources do u need
connor: oh it’s not for me it’s for a friend today
therapist: and this friend, is it somebody you’ve talked about like-
connor: yeah old friend of mine, we go way back, and i mean like a couple hundred years back, though can you really be a friend if you died like an hour into your first meeting
therapist, just Not Moving:
connor: yeah haha i got better tho but he doesn’t seem to have, i think breaking the space-time continuum every other week is taking a toll on his physical health and mental health. forgetting his fiances has to be hard on him, and he drops off the map every time and comes out worst for the wear
therapist:
connor: so yeah if you have an extra spot, maybe know a neurologist to help him out, that’d be swell
therapist, tiredly pulling out papers: fantastic.

so now that AMI is ending, what do you ultimately think of it? where it does rank amongst the rom coms? another summer season is about to be upon us lol (side note: I can't believe burak still has a job 😬)
Hey hey my lovely <3
Tbh; I initially enjoyed it 🙈 episodes 2-11 are probs my fave set of episodes from any show. However, I really dislike both ozan and esra at this point lmao … so I can’t go back and rewatch it. In my eyes, Esra is not a good person + failed to redeem herself and ozan has no self respect.
Ranking wise, it defo triumphed over its competitors 🤷🏽‍♀️ but over all … idk lol … I feel at some point they all go to crap 😭
Ami is defo a victim of circumstances… them continuously repeating storylines just became so boring … and their attempts at paralleling the scenes which made the show ICONIC, just fell flat. I feel as though, if they were able to execute these plot lines the way they wanted to … it would have been way better.
But idk, Uc Kurus also has this issue of repeating storylines - even tho they have new storylines in front of them … so maybe it’s writers just being stubborn? We will never know lol. Unfortunately ami never had the opportunity of new storylines (I think their scope was pretty limited … there’s always a new twist you can add with a crime show … unless it’s Yasak elma lmaooo … then it’s all game!)
Also, people say that if shows are given a set number of episodes, issues like what ami faced in the storyline could be prevented - I disagree. Once again bringing it back to UK lol … it was always a single season show … yet 💀💀
I think it would be way better for shows to have a somewhat set script, prior to shooting and airing (similar to Yargi). I think it’s easier on everyone and allows for focus - especially in terms of PR, script and the actors.
With regards to Burak …. SAME! But I’m not even surprised at this point. I’m v curious as to how his show will go … unpopular opinion … but I’m 70% sure that he will be great at rom com - as long as he doesn’t play some tough guy or ceo 🤣. OG cinar was actually really good when it came to rom-com … so yeah, I will defo watch the first ep just to see how he portrays his character 🙈
Apparently Murat is directing a new show? I’m defo gonna watch it tbh. From all dizi I’ve watched he is my fave lol. I think the show is called Iyilik? It’s exactly the type of mess I love watching lol. Tho, I haven’t seen confirmation that he is directing it 🤔
All in all, I’m super grateful for ami … I got to meet some amazing people who I now consider my friends! And I’m so so thankful to have them in my life ❤️❤️

AEW Double or Nothing 2021
In which the spirit of WCW is alive in confusing and delightful ways and we are left to parse whether overbooking and extracurriculars are offset by having actually very good wrestling happening at the same time.
- Lessons learned from Revolution on the production side? Maybe just cool it on pyro, though the rappelling adventure in the Stadium Stampede showed some of that now-characteristic 'trust us it'll look better on TV' flair. Hot crowd tends to paper over most woes, and the crowd was pretty hot. My one gripe is that the casino theme is hanging around like yesterday's takeout containers. Nothing wrong with clinging to a theme, I just think it's time for season 2. My suggestion? Under the Sea.
*Pre-Card Serena Deeb (C) v Riho for the NWA Women's Championship (***1/2) - Serena Deeb's star has finally risen. She's a remarkably consistent technician and she can get a match out of anyone at this point. She's working at the level of Mercedes Martinez or Madison Eagles at this point, it's amazing that she was overlooked or considered fit only to be a coach for so long. With the NWA belt she has this new swagger, she's basically everything Tessa Blanchard might bring to the table with none of the downsides (Serena has a lot of friends and seems like a lovely person, even!) - Riho's back and here to stay. Her time in Stardom didn't do much for my evaluation of her, which is that there are many better wrestlers that would be better representatives of the joshi style and she's merely pretty good. - The match was very good. Serena showcased a champion's aggression against a sympathetic Riho, they really work well against each other, Deeb's technical prowess against Riho's flexibility led to a very dynamic finish.
*Main Card Hangman Adam Page v Brian Cage (***1/2) - Here the shenanigans start. Brian Cage is on Team Taz, Team Taz has nothing else much to do tonight, so why wouldn't Team Taz flex their muscles, bait us with HOOK, etc? (Because it would be nice to have some variety in the card in terms of a match where one competitor stands across from another competitor?) - Hangman is (checking notes) yeah, still over as fuck, as befits the Anxious Millennial Cowboy. Cage terrifies me, he's a child's drawing of a body builder. He do be very agile for a man of his immense musculature tho. They match up well, Page is biggish for a flyer, Cage loves to play catch. Nothing much to write home about, other than Hangman's beautiful moonsault to the floor and what was overall a very good curtain jerker. - Okay fine, I am curious about Cage's reluctance to lean on the goons, Starks can't come back soon enough.
The Young Bucks v Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston (***) - I will not be referring to Mox & Eddie as (The) Wild Things because it gives me 'he calls it the wacky line' flashbacks for some reason. - The Bucks have to cheat and abuse Rick Knox's attention span constantly to be on even footing with Mox & Eddie, which is a clever sort of thing that gets washed out by the appearance of LG and Karl Anderson, which again, is cool in a vacuum but was the story of the evening. - Pace was weird - repetitive in eliminating Eddie, then Mox fights back, failed hope spot, Bucks team up, Eddie saves x2/3 in a row. - Mox, unlike Cody (in so many ways,) will probably actually be taking some time off with Renee, which is the kind of thing I would prefer not to know in terms of booking, but they really uh, put him down on the canvas here, and it felt pretty finale-esque.
Casino Battle Royale (n/r, but on the balance pro) - Any changes to the theme of the PPV would likely include changing up the nonsense suit format of these largely joyless slogs. - Obviously anticipating a NJPW talent, or... I dunno, actually -- Lio Rush was a surprise. Got in a quick demonstration of his otherworldly quickness, and you know what, there's probably a fun place for him in AEW. He'll need some friends, of course, feel like Team Taz might fit his temperament. I wonder if he was aware of the Mark Henry news... - Christian does not need to win this kind of match to get a title shot, obviously, but that said it was super lovely to use him to give Jungle Boy the shine. Jungle Boy would be a license to print money if he was even as big as Hangman. - Could register some continued griping about how Penta is not getting his due in AEW but he also literally was dressed as the Joker so I'm low on sympathy on this one particular night.
Anthony Ogogo v Cody Rhodes (*) - I did not like this. It's hard for me to read jingoism as a face move to begin with, and Cody's was egregiously tone deaf and kinda silly yet delivered without a trace of irony because Cody doesn't do irony on purpose, ridiculous neck tattoo aside. - Great argument to be made that Ogogo just isn't experienced enough to be winning matches against Cody. But like, what are we doing here? Cody needs to take some time off, maybe. I thought that's what was happening when he had his mini feud with Penta that really just ended in quick decisive Cody win. I though maybe Cody was being turned when QT and The Factory snapped-- sure, they're a group of impotent player 2s, but Cody is an out of touch elitist with a callous and manipulative streak. Alas, also no. America #1. - Cody is approximately 8 times as tough as Billy Gunn based on his weathering of the one punch man. Match ran a bit long given how little there was to go on. Cody gigged? Quelle surprise. - Cody had the best match on the card like, 3 out of the first 4 AEW events or something, and that was all booking and storytelling. I do hope Cody follows Moxley's lead into a little sabbatical.
Miro (C) v Lance Archer for the TNT Championship (**1/2) - Card's hossiest hoss match, a quick burst reminiscent of a car wreck. Absolutely hit on what it should've hit on but a little slow moving considering it went all of 10 minutes. - I will not complain about Jake the Snake, who I love. And also the gimmick spot, with Miro very astutely yeeting what was definitely a snake in a bag (surely.) back down the tunnel.
Dr Britt Baker, DMD v Hikaru Shida (C) for the AEW Women's Championship (***) - Picked up a lot of steam toward the end but seemed a little toothless (heh) until the last five. - Shida 'deserved' some more time as champion in front of crowds but also it's time to let heel Britt reach her peak, I can't even imagine how obnoxious she can be as the champ, it's going to be great.
Sting & Darby Allin v Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky (***1/2) - Such is the power of STING that I feel like I might be underrating this match... I mean it was an okay match about very simply getting some revenge and the sixty year old man did a very subdued Code Red and a slightly less subdued dive. He's also Sting. They missed an opportunity in calling it the 'Scorpio' Death Drop, but the main takeaway here is you see something like this where it's The Icon and you start to understand why WWE trots out their legends to come out of incredibly still kick ass without bending their knees. - The difference, I guess, is that Sting is absolutely being used to build up Darby Allin, whereas it's not like the fed brought back Goldberg and his attendant aura to pump up... anyone but Goldberg?
Kenny Omega (C) v PAC v Orange Cassidy for the AEW World Championship (****) - Off the top I have to say I'm very sad that the rest of the Galaxy's Greatest Friends were seen only very briefly, nice of them to bring OC's backpack. - Also have to point out that PAC's promo featured one of my favourite jokes, that Kenny must be short for Kenneth as a sort of legal/birth name belonging to a professional wrestler. (See also: Samoa Joseph) - And Mr Cassidy certainly did try in this match, ragdoll sells and all. Kenneth and PAC are absurd talents who bring aerial, power and technical maneuvers in equal measure and OC is not doing any of those on the same level, but he picked his spots, showed his genre savvy and hung in there to the point that he wasn't just the fall guy. - The extracurriculars continue in a match that was already a little overboard for silliness due to asymmetry... I think if you're the Invisible Hand it would've made sense to save up all your tricks for this match, but who am I to question the golden goose? - Sure, Kenny and Don ran the classic heel manager interference spot and taking out the ref in desperation spot but having to take out the ref because PAC wouldn't break the hold is fun, as is the stupid/inspired sense in running the 'smash opponent with the belt' spot four times so as none of your heavy gold prizes feel left out. (I love that AAA Mega Championship, they weren't on TV so we get to see it?) - "Fuck You, Don," indeed.
The Inner Circle v The Pinnacle in 'Stadium Stampede II' (***1/2) - This one had to grow on me for two reasons, first that it's usually pretty unforgivable to co-opt the main event spot from the championship match, and second to law of diminishing returns on dumb gimmick matches. - But grow it did. There's a full on meat locker? Commentary will refer to a cardboard cut-out of Shahid Khan as Tony Khan's father (that's canon now,) and Jericho will lovingly pat it? Konnan happened to be the DJ at whatever night club there is a Jaguar Stadium? Spears surrounds himself dramatically with chairs and his hoisted by his own petard? - Ultimately it comes down to letting Sammy shine. His involvement with the Inner Circle has sometimes come at the cost of being able to showcase that prior to AEW he was an ascendant talent in PWG, on his way to Ricochet level feats of acrobatic excess. Still feel like Sammy could've/should've been the one tossed off the cage a few weeks ago, but even better is being the guy getting the pin in the ring.

oK SO I’VE HAD THIS AU IN MY HEAD FOR TWO FKN DAYS AND I HAVE COME TO EVER SO GRACIOUSLY INJECT IT INTO YOUR MIND- THE GAANG PLUS YUE AND THE FIRE NATION GALS IN BANDS. a battle of the bands au. tHINK OF THE aRt. THE ARt wOuLd bE ePiC. n i’m thinking zukka and yueki, but zuko+suki are with mai, azula, and ty lee, and the rest of the gaang+yue in another band, and they meet at battle of the bands but yk...we got 2 sets of pining idiots yk yk. i thought this up 2 days ago and i cant stopppp(cont.)
I WAS SO EXCITED TO ANSWER THIS THAT I SAVED IT FOR WHEN MY BRAIN WOULD BE FUNCTIONING BETTER
unfortunately my brain never functions better so what ended up happening is that i maybe forgot this was in here. but i’m gonna answer now and im still very excited
i actually ended up having many thoughts based on your SPECTACULAR idea and you can def tell i know nothing about rock music or battle of the bands. but i’ve got the spirit
wait you could also make this such a pining mess cause you could have the two cross-band romances (yueki and zukka) and then you could have each in-band relationship (mailee and kataang) and then azula and toph can bond over being surrounded by lovesick idiots
wait suki with nation girls (azula especially) is so powerful i actually 😍
suki as electric guitarist? and backup singer while azula is lead singer?? zuko on the drums? ty lee on keyboard? mai on another instrument—maybe she’s on drum and zuko is also a guitarist? or an instrument im forgetting (ty lee and mai are also backup singers with suki. there’s at least one song where suki is lead singer/duets with azula). zuko writes most of the songs, but mai helps a surprising amount. suki likes to edit more than write her own lyrics
im calling fire nation + suki fan the fire (get it?) and i feel like it’d be kind of an angrier rock vibe cause these are tough kids. deep lyrics for sure. but also lots of girl power (especially cause Zuko barely ever sings so it’s all female viewpoint). moments where true fans can see emotion but overall this could be the band an angsty 13 year old would blast
no creative title for this rock group. maybe aang’s gaang? aang’s the lead singer. katara’s on a normal guitar and lead female singer. sokkas on electric guitar. yue on keyboard. toph on the drums. although aang and katara are technically the band’s lead singers theyre really big on group vocals which is what sets them apart. (yue especially provides a gorgeous harmony, it’s soft but without it the songs wouldn’t be the same).
they still have a rock vibe, but i gave katara a regular guitar cause you know she’s an indie bitch and as the main writer she does get that in there. aang and yue do the music writing, katara and sokka (usually separately) do most of the lyrics, toph helps both but usually just when they’re stuck
the kind of rock that actually has encouraging lyrics and family vibes cause katara is wholesome. some of sokka’s depresso bits sneak in there too tho
okay battle of the bands. sokka hates zuko from day one cause he looks so good-looking and full of himself and even ignored sokka when he tried to introduce himself. (spoiler alert, zuko’s hearing loss + playing the drums = one oblivious boy
zuko sees sokka day one and says pretty boy—no, no. competition. gotta stay focused and crush the competition
at some point (i kinda like the idea of suki and yue kinda knowing each other and just being friendly/competitors. and then one day....) yue realizes that suki is way too damn pretty. and suki wants to hear more of a certain soft voice
when zuko and sokka get together, yue threatens to tell katara if sokka doesn’t use his new boyfriend to get yue and suki together
lucky for yue, zuko and suki were having pining sessions together and are more than happy to start going on double dates
actually kataang is established and cute. i think mailee isn’t and they should take longer than zukka/yueki cause they’re idiots (loving). but the night of some big show, zuko and sokka both dont show up cause they were locked in a closet. everyone’s pissed, fraticide likely on both sides
after the reveal of zukka, reporters are looking for more dirt on both bands. yueki gets exposed and yue tries to deny it
suki is upset, but yue eventually admits it’s just the internalized homophobia but she loves suki and does want to be with her
neither half of the couples want to compete with the others, and the rest of the bands are getting conflicted cause friendships
they become one Super Band (is this possible??? seems super cliche but whatever)
on their debut show, ty lee and mai kiss for the first time (unplanned) and if this was a movie instead of a tumblr post, it would end with azula and toph’s shared look of aro pain at being surrounded by so many damn couples
i want art of this (hey egg you art good, if you wanna?? haha jk.....unless👉👈)

Re: your latest post about McDavid- i’m Not a McDavid fan in anyway (he’s even more dull than Crosby’s public persona, I hated his Trump costume, and from fan accounts seems like a bit of a jerk) and I am a Crosby stan, but I do think you’re downplaying McDavid’s accomplishments a bit. Winning two Art Rosses in a row isn’t nothing, nor is having 2 100 point seasons in a row in this era. I think Crosby was a better player in his prime- his shot was WAY better, vision, tenacity, etc, tho.
That’s just the point though, and kind of a good litmus test, is that I never commented on McDavid’s personal achievements apart from saying that he isn’t living up to the mega hype created about him in anything but his personal points scoring. Which I’m afraid is true, considering that his narrative is about beating absolutely everyone - active or retired - as the best of all time. There’s simply no reason outside of being an Oilers fan to think that, and I’ll get to more of at the end*. But the point is that when you suggest that he’s not beaten Crosby, it’s taken as the same as saying he’s no good. That’s a bad sign for a player.
There are plenty of talking points about McDavid - the majority of them are his speed and points generating ability which a fair amount of current players in the NHL can boast - but none of it stands out as his own because the entire narrative of his professional career is about unseating Crosby from his place among the top 10 greats of all time (or top 5 depending which era of hockey you mean).
And McDavid absolutely has had it in his power to deter that narrative because as I said in my post, Crosby managed to deflect it early on and ever since. But the literal headline of “BETTER THAN CROSBY” (yawn) only serves to make non-Oilers fans laugh. Sportsnet alone has been generating headline after headline about the NHL100 despite it being widely panned in hockey after last year’s omission of Evgeni Malkin. Not to mention - and I adore Carey Price - how high Price is on that list this year. No one takes that list seriously lol. It’s like Alex Ovechkin being called The Greatest Athlete. No one listens to ESPN and them choosing a hard-partying part-time captain of a team known as chokers who has to be specifically goaded into training was a great reminder of why.
Hey, I have no reason not to give McDavid the same fair attention I do to all young players because I want the league to have great young players. Just as I wanted Crosby to be great even though I’d lived with Gretzky and Lemieux in my lifetime. There’s no sense of threat for me and for most older fans because we know this drill. All we hope is that hockey stays great.
But apart from having sports media, Oilers fans and only slightly less-obviously McDavid himself simply telling me that this talented youngster has already beaten the greatest active player in the league, the evidence isn’t there. Sure, certain hardware and certain records he’s beaten Crosby in. But that’s the rub of modern hockey: McDavid will be unseated in those before he knows it when you look at the fitness and skill of rookies nowadays. Gone are the days of resting on borrowed individual laurels throughout your career because in just one or two drafts, the hottest new thing will come along to be better. Crosby is more than just an active player in that, he’s still one of the biggest thrills about it. McDavid… is too early to tell. The ride is good for now. But it’s not matching the selling price of besting everyone in the world.
Fortunately for the Penguins franchise and it’s fans, Crosby’s individual achievements and records are a side note to what make him considered by the league as the greatest living player. Those individual achievements are and continue to be staggering, especially considering that he’s come back multiple times from career-ending injuries and extended periods out. (I am a Kariya fan, don’t @ me) Crosby’s sources of greatness and ability to drive every team he captains to success time and again are not qualities currently being displayed in any great degree by McDavid. It’s a false economy to use Crosby as his barometer for success. Actually, a guy like Ovechkin would be a perfect comparison for McDavid if it weren’t for hockey’s inherent inability to cross NA and Russian streams. Big celebrity, out to beat everybody, one big hot shot skill he’s known for, lots of hardware and personal glory, captaincy that’s adequate but honestly debatable and probably better in someone else, and even when his team is losing he’s winning in popularity and points. I’ll even give up credit for this idea if someone will kick start replacing Crosby with Ovechkin in McDavid’s The Newness.
*The truth is that McDavid is extremely talented, but each generation has big talents with immense promise. The hockey saviour mentality is as old as the hockey I’ve been watching. I’ve seen a lot of them come and stay, and a lot of them and go without much of a footnote. What you will see time and again in evidence and as stated by folks who really know hockey is that the greats who stood the test of time remained standing because they had a team-oriented mentality and they loved the game even in the tough times.
McDavid is a part of the individual celebrity era that’s taken hold these past couple of drafts. He’s exactly what younger fans want: active on social media, comfortable being in the spotlight and his achievements are particularly effective on short hockey memories. Those achievements are even more effective for his own personal PR. He is at least willing if not participatory in permitting the narrative of him being permanently attached to Crosby’s name and career. He’s a celebrity.
But there is no point in continuing this association because the qualities of Crosby’s playing that will always make him a more desirable choice in the league’s fantasy draft are the same qualities that have kept him behind in the runnings for hardware and plaudits: team-centric, unselfish, a playmaker, unfailingly self-disciplined and modest. When you look at the usual list of all time greats, those qualities are resoundingly more valuable than a slap shot, being the fastest or putting up the best show for their own points every game. You don’t become an all time great in team sports by individually being great, and you certainly don’t make a great captain in the mercurial sport of hockey by being primarily lauded as a points scorer or a celebrity. It’s why someone like Ovechkin will retire never having been able to catch up the lead Crosby established early on in their supposed interpersonal competition. He’ll still be famous, but he won’t have the same esteem.
When Crosby was the age McDavid is now, he had turned down an offer of captaincy in order to take it at a better time for the team and enjoyed a glittering young personal career while garnering a respect for his selflessness and vision. All without trying to be someone else or follow in their wake. He just played hockey the best way you can play it for the good of your team and presented himself the best way you can for the good of the sport. But Crosby is not a celebrity, he only gained celebrity by being the best and becoming esteemed in a way and to a degree that arguably only Gretzky and Orr have been in hockey history.
Crosby at thirty-one, and not remotely on a “downward slope of his career” (lmao back-to-back Cups and then a playoff appearance in which he logged club record playoff points does not a downward slope make) already is one of the all time greats and he’s considered so by the all time greats.
And that is exactly why, unlike other players, Crosby is still active and placed at the top but already has younger players trying to become him. This is the first time in my personal knowledge of hockey history that a player who is not only not retired but still in the stride of his career, has been considered someone that younger players already use as a playbook for their own careers. He’s not a competitor to them, he’s already had the kind of career they want to look back on. Except he’s not even close to done. Thirty-one now is not thirty-one as it used to be on a hockey player’s body. Thirty-one on someone as disciplined as Crosby is not thirty-one at all.
So it’s time to disentangle McDavid from Crosby and have him do his own thing, whether that turns out to be brilliance or not. That’s his job. He’ll do a lot better by focusing inward rather than on Crosby and the media/fanbase surrounding him will flatter him better if they stop basing his every success on the constant basis of being better than someone else.
And it’ll prove a lot less disappointing in the long run if he isn’t placed in positions now that he hasn’t earned. That method is always, every single time, disastrous for a young player’s development.

Hi, can I get a male Haikyuu matchup?
Personality: cold to new people but wild and weird around close friends, stubborn, determined in the things I set my mind to, independent hence I'm too afraid to ask for help, always act tough and idgaf on the outside and bottle up my feelings but actually very sensitive and cry baby and very insecure, short-tempered/hot-headed, quite tsundere but can get very very clingy, sometimes shy and awkward most of the time and cringe at myself easily even if it's just me having a music jamming session all by myself, straightforward
Mbti: ISFP-T
Good qualities: independent, enthusiastic and passionate about the things I like
Bad qualities: constantly overthinking and worrying aka my anxiety, short-tempered and get annoyed easily
Music taste: mostly rock songs like math rock, post rock and other subgenre, but still like some of the songs from other genre tho
What I look for in a partner: loyal, sweet and caring, protective/dominance (in a good way), able to accpet every part of me because I tend to change myself in a relationship if that means they will like me more
Appearance: 160cm, have a short black bob cut hair and I wear a black glasses, love wearing skirts and dresses
Things I like/hobbies: travel, play games and watch streams on twitch, vtuber, taiwan novels, clothes, overanalyse every movie I watch, listening to songs on spotify and have a jamming session but I'm shy to letting people hear me sing lmaoo
Thank you!!
I match you with Kuroo Tetsuro. 100%
Tumblr media
We all know Kuroo is a little cocky bastard, but it goes without saying that he has had years of training with short tempered tsunderes.
He wouldn’t mind your temper at all. In fact, he would find it so amusing every time you go off at him, a laugh emerging from the very depths of his body, rocking his head back and staring you down with a grin. “Again??” He asks rhetorically, “you sure cant stay calm for a long time can you?” What a cocky bastard. Needless to say, you instantly forget what you were angry about and begin preoccupying yourself with wiping that fat smirk off of his face.
The first time you met, your cold exterior definitely didn’t put him off either. I mean, he’s been friends with Kenma for years now, and he can still barely get a proper conversation out of him. This man loves to tease. Annoy you so much to the point where you have to say something, which will definitely get your wilder side out of you. Oh, and don’t even worry about being cringe, it’s not like he’s any better.
Kuroo has also become incredibly good at reading people. It’s one of his biggest talents. You won’t even have to say or hint at anything, because he can instantly tell when something is bothering you and will always be there to help, even if you don’t ask for it. It feels so endearing, and you feel so relaxed knowing that he just knows you, letting you stay independent but always being available when you need that extra little push.
Looking after Kenma has given him a hot dominant protective pass too :p. At this point it’s second nature to him, he would always keep you close, bringing you towards him by your waist when some man looks at you on the street, sending them a glare so intimidating that anyone would be scared shitless.
You guys would probably spend most of your time at his, having mini dance parties (in which Kuroo shamelessly showcases his atrocious singing voice) or indulging yourself with playing video games with Kenma, (but kuroo is so shit at playing that Kenma is the only repeatable competitor at this point).
Hope you liked it | (• ◡•)|

Tumblr media
hello, my dudes ! i’m lauren, i’m twenty years old, i live in the est, i use she/her pronouns, and i make up 1/2 of the dynamic duo that brought newcastlehqs to a computer near you ! honestly, i would tell you about myself but i don’t want to bore you so i’ll keep it short and sweet: i spend all of my money on movies and concert tickets, i could live off of coffee ice cream and cool ranch doritos ( a fitness icon ), and i love you. now that that’s over, i’d now like to introduce you all to this little devil, STEVIE ADLER.
( zoey deutch, 22, she/her. ) – hey, jagger’s pub ? it’s me, stevie adler, y’know the town’s hoyden. listen, i’m not going to make it to work tonight because i’ve got a gig with my band, saturdaze. i’m the keyboardist / bassist and they really need me even though they keep denying my request to cover electric feel by MGMT.
background !
stevie adler was born in newcastle, vermont to marcus adler and andrea adler.
she has three brothers cooper (25), axel (20), and graham (16).
her interest in music came solely from her dad who used to be a sound technician for very famous groups like aerosmith, the stones, and fleetwood mac ( how she got her name ! ) but he decided to hang up the passport for a while and now he’s visiting sound tech professor at the university of vermont and occasionally works the soundboard for the red light lounge whenever there’s a show.
she doesn’t have a relationship with her mom at all seeing as she left marcus, stevie, and her siblings because she claims she was ‘fed up with the fact that her husband was always traveling and leaving her to raise the kids on her own.’ that wasn’t the case though, she was just being dramatic and needed an excuse to leave. the real reason, which was later disclosed, was that she was pissed marcus’ career could flourish while hers was on the back burner. so in short: stevie’s selfish mother left her family to pursue a career and spoil herself while stevie’s dad was pursuing his career to foot the bills and provide for his family.
her dad never remarried or fell back in love with anyone else so it was just him, cooper, stevie, axel, and graham.
because she grew up around all boys, it was only a given she’d pick up on some of their ‘tendencies’ for example: as opposed to picking up a barbie doll and playing dress up like some girls and boys, she picked up a baseball and a bat instead. there wasn’t a day that went by where she wasn’t outside playing getting bruised up or scabby knee’d. she was apart of several different sports teams as a kid and even through her teenage years, but ( this is kinda cheesy ) she always managed to keep her interest in music just as relevant.
personality !
okay, so her label is the hoyden which is basically just a jazzy word for a tomboy and carefree, boisterous girl and that’s exactly what stevie is: a carefree tomboy.
i pretty much shaped her off of a few of my favorite characters –– nick miller ( new girl ), ilana wexler ( broad city ), gina linetti ( brooklyn nine nine ), blake henderson ( workaholics ) !
she might be off-putting to some people because they think she comes off as ‘mean’ and ‘intimidating’ but really they’re just mislabeling her sarcasm and her resting bitch face. but tbh, she is kind of intimidating at first glance, she can’t help it though.
did i mention she’s very sarcastic ? a true Smart Ass™
she isn’t a serious person whatsoever, i know this is bad but she’s the type of person to start laughing at the most inappropriate times. she has no idea how to handle serious situations either so if she sees someone crying she’s just like ... um ... yikes ? i gtg.
SHE IS LITERALLY THE EMBODIMENT OF THIS VINE, THIS IS LITERALLY STEVIE WHEN I SAY SHE ISN’T SERIOUS AND DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO HANDLE SERIOUS SITUATIONS ! I AM YELLING !
she hates showing any form of emotional vulnerability and hardly ever cries in front of anyone or ever for that matter because her daddy didn’t raise no bitch ! that’s probably why she doesn’t know what to do when she sees people cry ? she might come off apathetic because of it ?
growing up around all boys, she developed a really thick skin and tough exterior that’s pretty hard to cut through. it takes a lot to set her off when it comes to something that’s targeted towards her. however, if someone crosses one of her friends or someone she cares about, she will not hesitate to throw hands.
certified queen of impetuous decisions and running away from her responsibilities !
in short: she’s just a very sarcastic, rather comical person who is careless almost 99%, but she tries and she’s a true ride or die homie !
CHECK OUT HER MUSINGS PAGE BECAUSE IT’S BASICALLY HER AND I’M JUST SHIT AT EXPLAINING THINGS !
possible connections !
wifey for life(y) ! lmao this title is kind of dumb but basically i want a connection where stevie and said muse are basically like abbi and ilana from broad city ! if you don’t watch the show then don’t worry, honestly, i’ll give you the run down: they’re basically two peas in a pod ( some people probs think they’re dating ) and there isn’t a day that goes by when they aren’t getting themselves into some sort of situation that you pretty much only see on a movie screen or just ... trouble. when they aren’t wreaking havoc, they kick back and smoke weed, drink, talk about life, etc. if someone tries to come for one of them, the other will be the first in line to throw hands and defend their ass.
the yin to her yang ! just another way of saying polar opposite and although they might not be carbon copies of each other and probably wouldn’t been seen together ever had it been in a societal norm situation, the two of them somehow click ? maybe it was their similar taste in music that brought them together or the fact they bonded over something similar. maybe they could’ve met back in the day at a party or a concert and they were the only two people who knew every word to every song/certain song ? we can definitely talk it out more if you’re interested !
friends with benefits ! think mila kunis and justin timberlake circa friends with benefits. no emotions, just sex. i would say maybe they’ll start catching feelings, but stevie is pretty emotionally shut down so it could be an unrequited love thing – who knows ? regardless, their dynamic is far from awkward. they aren’t afraid to blatantly text the other to come thru, bang a few out of their system, then end the night tossing back shots at the pub, catching a movie, clubbing at the red light lounge or grabbing a bite to eat.
are we hating, are we fucking ? ( shoutout childish gambino ) because i live for the drama and the thrill, i kind of want a dynamic where they literally cannot stand each other but the sexual tension is there. like they’re constantly at each other’s throats and throw shade at one another just to get a rise out of one another. they act like the can’t stand it, but they’re lowkey into it and enjoy the playful, cut-throat banter ! maybe it’s lead to a few hookups, maybe it hasn’t happened yet, who knows ?
trivia buddy / competitor ! okay this is so random, but i figured it was pretty different ? since stevie grew up playing a lot of sports with her brothers and being on different teams as a kid, she has a very competitive nature about her. if someone challenges her to do something, she’ll most likely drop everything to do it. she loves a little friendly competition. so, since astro’s has a trivia tuesdays night, i was thinking maybe her and said muse could either be on a team together or they go head to head every tuesday and they make a deal, whoever loses that night has to buy the other person a round of drinks or something ! i don’t know i thought this was cute !
good influencee / bad influencer ! someone who’s constantly worrying about stevie while she’s trying to get them to worry less, to let loose and actually experience life for a change rather than being so ... cautious and hesitant, rather than sticking to the same old shit different day sort of thing. while she’s trying to get them to worry less, they’re constantly trying to get stevie to think things through before making impetuous decisions.
the crushee ! listen... someone who has a crush on stevie, someone who’s insistent that they’ll pierce through that exterior and show her that not all love is bad. someone who’s drawn to her but she can’t understand why ( or maybe she doesn’t even know that they are ).
ALSO HERE ARE MORE I JUST THOUGHT OF BUT I’M TOO EXCITED TO ELABORATE SOME ARE SELF EXPLANATORY THO
regular / favorite customer at the bar !
one of her brother’s best friends !
drinking buddy !
salt sibling !
confidant / cornerstone !
roommate !

[010] Suzuki, A.
Just to clear the air, this is what Akiko Suzuki said. So before you all start raising your pitchforks and burning the poor lady at stake (I see some on forums, here and Twitter already attempting it) why doncha all read and be your own judges:
What Akiko Suzuki thinks Yuzuru Hanyu should work on next season: Strive for a more emotional performance
I think Yuzuru Hanyu, while hailed as *the* Champion and having lost the last two WCs, probably has a lot of pent-up a frustration over the losses. This is because he’s not the kind of guy who only wants to win, he’s the kind of guy who wants to win by a mile.
He put up another record-breaking score in his LP at World’s. At 4CC back in February, from what I could tell of the expression on his face before his SP, he seemed to believe that there was still a gap between himself and younger competitors like Nathan Chen and Shoma Uno. He’s been able to afford a mistake here and there and still win so far but after that comp, he must’ve felt that that’s no longer the case. Something just seemed to have clicked within him after the end of the men’s SP that night. The final result saw him getting beaten in terms of combined total by Nathan and that’s likely what brought about his WC win. 4CC was the turning point for Yuzuru.
Ever since Yuzuru became the Olympic Champion in Sochi 2014, other skaters must have been thinking, “How do I beat Hanyu?” And the answer they apparently came to was, “Why, do all the jumps Hanyu can’t, of course!” So these other skaters started arming themselves with weapons Yuzuru doesn’t yet have. Skaters like Shoma, Nathan and Boyang, who podiumed at WC, are using these new quads to close in on Yuzuru, which is why we see them attempting all those flips and lutzes out there.
Yuzuru’s comeback performance of his free that led to his regaining his title was probably the best I’ve ever seen, bar none the best he’s able to put out for now (TL: read this part wrong and didn’t do a tl check when I posted. Sorry bout that. Good thing someone pointed it out in the forums). In the various things he has attempted during this 2016-2017 season, he must have come to a solid conclusion of what to include and what to exclude, so it’s only a matter of polishing the things that remain and tweaking them to as high a quality as he can get them. And that would likely be the base he’d be using going into the next season.
Yuzuru has a competitive streak that goes above and beyond so I’m guessing what he really wants to do is to put out a performance that is far beyond even what we have just seen. Maybe he’s even putting a lot of thought into the 4A and perhaps being the first to land it. But he’s also aware that he could end up hurting himself, and getting hurt never helps. So I’m sure he’s calmly studying what’s going on around him and thinking, “What’s my best strategy now?” Before, he would’ve been all gung-ho and just gone, “Imma do it!” but he’s now able exert a calm control that translated very well into his performance.
The instinct of an athlete and the calm of a competitor–being able to strike a perfect balance between these two was what enabled him to win at World’s. This will, in turn, heighten the resolve of skaters still in their teens like Shoma and Nathan to include even more technical content. Going by age, it would be tougher for Yuzuru to follow the same route. If Shoma and Nathan’s weapon is to arm themselves with even more firepower, Yuzuru will answer their challenge by sharpening his own even more, and raise his own level to heights unknown. With Yuzuru, it’s a matter of how one enhances what they have and how they use it.
What’s scary about Shoma and Nathan is that they are not entirely outdone by Yuzuru in terms of PCS. They aren’t exactly slacking in the skating department either. Which is why Yuzuru has come to perceive them as real threats.
After his SP at 4CC, Yuzuru was very clearly burning on the inside. And his barely-contained irritation after his SP at World’s was a good sign. When I saw that look on his face, I couldn’t help but think, “Now, /that’s/ an athlete.”
When Yuzuru is able to flawlessly execute his 3 types of jumps (TL, Sal & Lp) over 4 passes (like this), he’s in a whole different league altogether. So if there’s anything else he needs to aim for, it’s probably the ability to express more of his emotions. Had he been able to express them more on top of those jumps in the perfect performance he gave at WC, I think it’d have been even better than what it is now.*
Packing all those quads in is no cakewalk. That’s a given. What he put out on the ice at World’s is something I won’t hesitate to give him a standing ovation for. But Yuzuru’s emotions are a sight to behold and it would have been even greater if we could have seen more of them (that day). He has beautiful jumps while also being an emotional skater. Yuzuru has it in him to combine both. I know he does.
These three years, Yuzuru has been assailed by more than his fair share of health issues and like any other human, he has his ups and downs. But it’s precisely because of those, he has become even stronger than before. Anything and everything he could grow, I’m willing to bet he has. His mind and body have grown stronger, his abilities have increased. The Yuzuru Hanyu that we saw back in Sochi and the one we’ll see in PyeongChang will be two separate entities, I’m sure of it.
In Sochi, he was but a single challenger. In PyeongChang, he’ll be going in as the defending champion. The pressure that will surely be set upon him will be totally different than the one before. No doubt it’ll be extremely tough on him but it’ll be exciting to see the kind of performance he’ll present when he’s in his absolute zone devoid of others. That moment of release will be epic to behold.
–Akiko SUZUKI
[SOURCE]
I gotta say, I agree with the lady. The dude was maxed out putting out a clean and foot-perfect performance that he wasn’t able to manage the capacity for the more overt emotions like the ones we experienced from his H&L performances at NHK and GPF. Of course, if those had to go to make way for that lovely precision performance to be born, it’s well worth the sacrifice.
But now that he’s already done it, perhaps he can work on increasing his capacity so as to be able to fit both precision despite high difficulty and those beautiful emotions he’s so famed for? I mean it’d definitely be growth if he manages it, which is what he wants so much himself. He always seems to want it, no matter how far he’s come. And that’s one of the major things I really admire about him. If he manages it, he’d finally be the kind of complete skater no one in their right minds can naysay as well as one that’s, just as Suzuki has said, epic to behold.
p/s: Incidentally, my perfect rendition of H&L woulda been the NHK one with all its quads and its Bielmann replaced by the ones from WC.
pp/s: And I get why people are exasperated since all they apparently see and hear are people saying what they want to see Yuzuru improve on but never others. But get this. I feel Yuzuru’s unique drive is what’s inspiring people to give their two cents about his skating. I dunno about the other people who are being whinged about now but Akiko’s comment seems friendly and helpful. Like, she’s invested in him. Just like I am. So really, I simply don’t care about what the others’ flaws and strengths are. I only just care about Yuzuru’s, both his flaws and strengths. Because the kind of ideal performance he’s been making us dream about? That’s something only he, with his skills and physique, can deliver. Not others.
When she said PCS and SS, I got the impression she meant based on the protocols, because according to the judges, that’s indeed the case and unless Yuzuru is completely clean in both his short and long, or deliver something so scarily and inarguably beyond others even at their very best that their (the judges) hands are tied, it’s also up to them in the end whether or not he wins over the rest. What she seems to be doing, imo, is suggesting stuff that would give him the edge.
What I don’t agree with her is the age thing because it’s not due to age he’s not packing them in, it’s idealism, which she’s also addressing here so it makes that bit about him not packing in stuff just cos he’s a little bit older a tad contradictory. But to be fair, it was also a logic Yuzuru himself subscribed to once upon a time. He mentioned to the press right after Sochi that he intended to try as many quads as he could while still in his teens cos he didn't know how spry he'd still be once he hits his 20s. It's only now that he feels it's more a matter of sense than it is age. Still don’t find what she said offensive tho.
*Just realized I actually accidentally skipped an entire paragraph. It’s in now. Sorry bout that cos I did the whole thing on an iPad. And yeah I tend to translate based on context and nuance I perceive rather than direct when it comes to opinion pieces like this cos Japanese is a language that can sometimes seem rather cold and straightforward when not taken in context (where you’ve gotta read between the lines for the deeper layers and meaning the words may represent) with the context itself not translating well into English. So I do the next best thing and put it in way in actual words instead of subtle implication. Take my translations with a pinch of salt if you will but this is just how I do things when they are opinion or literary-based. (Not so much on hard news and facts, tho.)

6, 7, 19, 27!
6. Favorite Yugioh rival
In terms of being a supportive friend and a good competitor I think I have to go with Jack, in regards to both Yusei and Yuya! He’s a powerforce with a really funny personality who knows when it’s time to be serious, and he has such a strong and confident will. His relationship with Carly and their adventures to regain his confidence were endearing, and his duel against Aporia with Rua and Ruka is one of my favorites because he does a really good job of coaching them both without treating them like incapable children. That one time when he beat up those dudes for sabotaging Aki’s duel runner exam was so good, I was very proud. He and Crow are good friends, good brothers; I love their arguments and misunderstandings that come as a result of Jack being used to a richer lifestyle. They had cute bromantic moments in Arc V too (even I’m disappointed Crow didn’t cradle him in his arms after Zarc almost killed him). One of my favorite Jack moments is at the end of the series when Jack has that montage of training really hard because he wants to surpass Yusei, and even after he loses he congratulates Yusei in a really heartfelt, pure moment. In Arc V JACK IS SUCH A GOOD MENTOR TO YUYA I LOVE IT! I was mad at him at first for beating and being a dick towards Yuya but he makes up for it lol. I also liked how they made us question his character further in that scene where he gave the supposedly “trash” card to that boy whose name I forget. Even though he meant to be encouraging the kid just read his signals wrong. His interest in Reira and how he reminded him of himself was a nice introspective look as well. I love when he smiled at the end of the duel where Yuya beat him and you could tell he was really proud.
IN OTHER NEWS EVEN THOUGH HE’S A DICK I LOVE KAIBA AND HE’S MY BOYFRIEND OKAY HE’S THE ORIGINAL EXTRA AS FUCK HOT JACKASS NERD TECH-GENIUS RIVAL WITH DADDY ISSUES WHO IS ALSO PRETTY. I love the whole “end war with card games” thing he did and his love for Mokuba is some pure heartwarming shit. Also my heart explodes every time he mentions wanting to build Kaibaland; Sakaki Yusho wishes he could get on his level. Pretty much I just looooove how extra he is about everything. I just wish he had been more of a competition for Yugi.
7. Favorite Yugioh female
Yooooo I’m gonna have to say Mai from Duel Monsters. I really love her a lot. She’s got such a cool, tough personality and her deck is strong too. I love that she’s probably one of the first (if not THE first) top female duelists and I’m sure she’s legendary for that. She was one of the first people to give Yugi a real run for his money in their Duelist Kingdom duel. Her speeches in that duel were so on point and she toughened him up exactly the way he needed. She was KILLIN THE GAME TOO upon rewatch I was really salty she lost. The moment afterwards that duel where she gave her prize card to Jounouchi while giving him courage is one of my favorites too. Her relationship with Jounouchi is one of my favorites in the whole series, and I love the big sister vibe she has with Anzu and the other girls in the series. One of my favorite moments is when she lost intentionally/surrendered to Anzu. Her duel with Marik was amazing too. She’s so smart and I wish Yugi would have taken her more seriously as a true rival. My mind right now is hazy regarding what she did Post-Battle City so I don’t really remember what she does afterwards lol… Her outfits are always great tho. I think most of all I love the tough love she hands out. I wish she had been in Arc V or DSOD, I miss her! I truly think she is the Yugioh female we’ve always deserved, a perfect mix of emotions, strength, maturity, and will.
HONORABLE MENTION TO ISHIZU THAT’S MY GIRL RIGHT THERE!
19. Favorite 5Ds OP/ED
YAAAAAAAAS NOW WE’RE TALKIN IMMA LET YOU FINISH BUT “FUTURE COLORS” IS THE BEST YUGIOH OP/ED OF ALL TIME!!!!!!! FIGHT ME OVER THIS!! VISUALLY AND MUSICALLY! SO GOOD! THIS SONG MADE THE END OF 5DS SO MUCH MORE EMOTIONAL! I will never be over this ending okay?? Best 5D’s opening visually and musically for me is “BELIEVE IN NEXUS!” I love the instrumentation of this one, the gritty guitar and the build up of the song. The animation is also gorgeous and I love the visuals they chose, it always feels like a really full, comprehensive opening.
27. Favorite antagonist
You know Marik has always been memorable to me. He was over the top when it came to blaming the Pharoah for all the wrong in his life but I love the relationship he has with Rishid, and how his recognition of  Rishid’s brotherly affection and dedication to him was strong enough to contain his dark half. The worst thing Marik ever did was risk Rishid’s life by giving him that fake Ra card and saying that he was only worthy of the Ishtar name if he could use it successfully. That was cruel. His Rare Hunters were creepy too. Plus LittleKuriboh has made so much fun of Marik it’s made me love him so much more.
Also shoutout to Yubel for probably being the most evilly evil of antagonists... seriously she did so much evil it still surprises me how easily Judai forgave her. Devine was one creepy ass motherfucker and I’m glad he died. Z-ONE had a good story and he was a good person; the whole Yusei revelation was wack. I’ll also give Noah Kaiba some props because I loved his arc and I he was a nice kid for choosing to sacrifice himself at the end.

Honestly, life's been going up and down like a rollercoaster and the last couple days have been extra tough, but it's going back up now. Uni isn't that stressful yet as tests won't start until december. The one competing for ult spot is sweet but sneaky Park Jimin who came out of nowhere and is now trying to steal my heart away from Chen and I don't know what to do about it😭 Hope you had a good weekend, sending hearts💞💗💕💖💓 and a scorpion🦂 to fight back against life and uni - birthday anon

Last year, Nintendo made the slightly uncontroversial and in line with what competitors have been doing for decades business decision to start charging for the service to play games online with the Nintendo Switch. In order to sweeten the deal somewhat a paid membership gets you access to online play, exclusive offers (such as cosmetics in some games and those stupid but cool but stupid but expensive but worth it NES Switch controllers), sometimes cloud saves and most controversially gives you access to a growing library of NES games playable as long as you're subbed up. Some vocal gamers, however, did not like this decision at all because they either already own and play the NES games on offer (lies nobody ever intentionally bought Super Dodge Ball let alone played it on the go) or they didn't want the NES games but wouldn't mind free N64 games or SNES games perhaps? Like winged monkeys with neckbeards they took to social media en mass to whine about it. This level of entitlement we've never really understood. We'd love a crème brulée made from Jamie Oliver's own nipple milk topped with gratinated Marilyn Monroe tagnuts, but we're not going to get it from Kamil's Fried Chicken for £1.49. We're going to get dog cock in a pitta because that's what KFC is actually selling. If you don't want to play free NES games for signing up to an online service. Just don't. Just don't and don't tell anybody you didn't want to whilst you aren't. We do admire the optimism of disgruntled gamers STILL responding to every Nintendo Twitter announcement with: And we're struggling to understand. What's the mentality here? Are they mistaking a regional social media marketing account of a multinational electronics company with the Make A Wish foundation? If they were is that really the wish you want to run with all things considered? However, the entitled little so and so's do have a point. In a very Nintendo way, not all of the NES games currently on offer are stellar nor does there seem to be a rhyme or reason to the selection of games or the order they are being added. FRET NOT because here's our essential guide with each game either rated: worth a try, all-time stone cold classics or games that should have stayed unplayable. Adventures of Lolo Play as a face and collect the hearts until the angry skulls run after you. Defend yourself by turning them into bubble gum eggs? Our verdict: Once we worked out the controls, quite enjoyed this one. Balloon Fight We feel really sorry for the people out there whose first experience with video games was Balloon Fight because they don't play games anymore. They've avoided them ever since 1986 because this game is about as fun as Joust which everyone knows was not and never will be fun. Our verdict: Push off a cliff but make sure you pop both balloons first. Just in case. Baseball Like all sports games if you don't have a [name of team sport] game then this one has you covered. Seriously. They're all the same. Unless it's an American sport in which case it's worse. Our verdict: Alright if you like this kind of thing. Donkey Kong You too can pretend to be a sad middle-aged hot sauce salesman and/or professional loser by playing this infuriating game. BUT DAT MUSIC THO. Our verdict: Good for a quickie in the kitchen every now and then. Double Dragon Like River City Ransom but good. Our verdict: That these early games spawned entire genres is sometimes very surprising. Dr. Mario It's Dr. Mario. There's never a good time not to Dr. Mario. You want to be the one to be out here pretending Dr. Mario ain't all that? Who hurt you in the past? Our verdict: Marry. Dr. Mario SP For those not good enough at germing the other germs, a quick skip to a sort of end. Our verdict: A one night stand only but make sure you play safe because there's no knowing what diseases you might get.  Excitebike If you can tolerate the awful SFX this Drive 'Em Up is mildly challenging. Our verdict: [HORriFiC EngInE NOiSe]. Ghosts'n Goblins Like Half Minute Hero except that half minute is spent being constantly attacked by enemies which come out of the ground then you die. Out verdict: We've never gotten past the first screen to be honest. Gradius Like TwinBee but horizontal. Tough to boot. Our verdict: Dark Souls but in space. Gradius SP Made almost playable starting the game powered up until you get hit that is then it's back to buggery. Our verdict: Bloodborne but in space. Ice Climber Like QWOP but for jumping upwards and less fun. Our verdict: Climb up a cliff just to push this off. Ice Hockey Like all sports games if you don't have a [name of team sport] game then this one has you covered. Seriously. They're all the same. Our verdict: Alright if you like this kind of thing. The Legend of Zelda Confession time! This half of TGAM never played this game originally. I assumed from the bits of it I'd been exposed to from WarioWare and both NES Remix games that there was more to this game. There isn't. Our verdict: It is a secret to everyone that this game is a bit shit.  The Legend of Zelda SP Confession time! This half of TGAM never played this game originally. I assumed from the bits of it I'd been exposed to from WarioWare and both NES Remix that there was more to this game. There isn't. Our verdict: It is a secret to everyone that this game is a bit shit. Warmed up. Mario Bros. Before they were super and before jumping in NES games felt nice this is what the Mario brothers did. Flushing giant flies, angry crabs, turtles and ice blocks out of the sewer. For coins. Our verdict: Fun to co-op but lacks the stamina to really smash your back doors in. Metroid One of the best retro Metroidvanias ever. Although younger gamers weaned on the mother's milk of Dark Souls and the like might need a pen and paper to draw a map as they go. Our verdict: Put a chuffing ring on it. Metroid SP Like the above but super racist against Ridley. Our verdict: For those who want to feel a big man but just don't have the capacity. Mighty Bomb Jack Remind us why were jumping on boxes as the mummies turn into coins? Our verdict: They don't make them like this anymore. Probably for good reason. NES Open Tournament Golf Like all sports games if you don't have a [name of team sport] game then this one has you covered. Seriously. They're all the same. Our verdict: Alright if you like this kind of thing. Ninja Gaiden Like River City Ransom but hard. Our verdict: Try if you like BDSM.  Pro Wrestling If this is Pro we'd hate to see the amateurs. Our verdict: Ring out! River City Ransom Like Double Dragon but worse Our verdict: Push off a conveyor belt to the void. Soccer Like all sports games if you don't have a [name of team sport] game then this one has you covered. Seriously. They're all the same. Our verdict: Alright if you like this kind of thing which is definitely Soccer.  Solomon's Key What is this game about? Make blocks to touch the bell and liberate fairies? Nuts. Our verdict: Who knows?  Super Dodge Ball We thought dodge ball is what you play when the weather's too shit to play a proper sport and all you have is a ball. Let alone an actual game. With actual rules. And an arena. And a video game version. Our verdict: No. Just no.  Super Mario Bros. Yes, you may have played the original on the NES and again with Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario Bros. Deluxe and the virtual console releases and the Wii Super Mario All-Stars re-release. And Super Luigi Bros. on the Wii-U. You may have even remade and remixed it on Super Mario Maker on more than one platform. But it's fucking Super Mario Bros. It's like pizza or Marmite. Everyone loves it. Our verdict: Get down on one knee for this one. Super Mario Bros. 3. Do us a favour before even trying to pretend you have an edgy opinion about how it isn't that good. Get or buy a friend. Give them the second Joy-Con and play Super Mario Bros. 3 together. If you don't enjoy yourself just end it. End it now. Our verdict: Worth committing bigamy* with a friend for.  Tecmo Bowl What is this? Is this some kind of war thing? Not into it. Our verdict: Off the fucking cliff. Tennis Like all sports games if you don't have a [name of team sport] game then this one has you covered. Seriously. They're all the same. Our verdict: Alright if you like this kind of thing.  TwinBee Like Gradius but upways Our verdict: Okay, what both this platform and Sega Mega Drive Classics need are some decent fucking documentation. Here's what the user guide says for every. single. game: Not exactly helpful is it? What's strange about this shoddy aspect is that the Virtual Console on the Wii-U had whole manuals viewable from within a menu.  Wario's Woods Worth a try but not for everyone. Think Tetris lacks platforming? This may be for you. Our verdict: Go for coffee and see how you feel.  Yoshi Crack with Bloopers. Our verdict: Marry but with constant shagging. So there we have it, all rated and up-to-date as of this blog going live. Any way you look at it, it is something special to have a museum of NES games at your fingertips with some upgraded with online play should you be inclined. With Tecmo, Konami, Capcom, HAL and KOEI games already on the system there're stacks of potential titles making their way to a Switch near you.  *How Mario describes himself when he has eaten a Super Mushroom.
