Finally, after a month and a half of constant sickness, I got better and went to see Hozier... I think I destroyed my vocal cords but it was so worth it! He's such a raw performer and a truly gorgeous and beautiful man. I think he enjoyed the loudness of his fans in Mexico A LOT!
Anywho, I still have a couple of days of vacations, so what better thing to do than write NECTMH?
"That sounded like something straight out of my mouth."
"Is that a compliment?"
"You were an asshole, Deku."
"So, it was a compliment."
When Katsuki touched their shoulders together it was a playful gesture. "Don't waste my time asking stupid questions if you already know the answer."
Deku beamed at him, and something finally righted itself inside of Katsuki.

Double Heart | Chapter Nine ~ Cosima
|previous part|
Pairing: Haldir x OFC
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 3476
Warnings: None

A/n Sorry this was a little late! Happy reading :)
Translations: Mae govannen = well met! // Meleth nîn = my love
Two weeks after I woke in this strange world, we reach Imladris.
When Haldir tells me that the sparkling city in the valley is our destination, I can scarcely believe him. After endless days and nights riding through open country, to finally reach civilization, even if it’s not the civilization I’m used to, is so welcome I nearly cry with relief.
Four men on horseback race up the slope of the mountains to meet us. They wear heavy armor—more than what Haldir and the others wear—and carry tall spears. Their leader, fierce though he seems, takes my breath away. Even from here, I can see his face because it reflects an ethereal glow. His hair, which has to be spun gold, flows long down the back of his horse and glints in the sun. Whoever he is, he is no mere man.
“Elrond’s patrols,” I question, remembering someone mentioning them earlier.
“Yes,” Haldir responds, and I can hear a grin in his voice. “We have reached their outer borders. Congratulations, Cosima.” He twists to offer me a proud smile. “You have completed your first journey.”
I swallow, unable to keep myself from smiling back. Haldir can be so stoic at times that praise from him is completely unexpected. Warmth spreads through my chest.
The riders come to a halt in front of us and the one I assume to be their leader dismounts, striding confidently in our direction. Haldir slides off Faervel, approaching in a similar fashion. I take the horse’s reins in my hands, stroking his back affectionately. The horses’ height doesn’t bother me anymore and I’ve become much more confident in riding them in the past two weeks.
“Mae govannen, Haldir o Lórien!”
“Glorfindel.” Haldir clasps the man’s elbow jubilantly. They converse in that language I haven’t heard since I arrived — the others have been speaking solely in English for my and Alex’s benefit — and it’s jarring to hear the unfamiliar sounds. It serves as a reminder that, though I have allowed myself to become comfortable here, too comfortable, maybe, this is not my world. This is somewhere different.
Haldir turns over his shoulder and extends a hand in my direction. I catch my name and Alexander’s among the strange syllables and offer the man—Glorfindel, Haldir called him—a smile in greeting. He approaches, stunning golden hair shining in the light of the sunset, and bows elegantly. A laugh bubbles from my throat—startled by the action. Vaguely, I remember Rumil bowing to me when we first met. Whereas his motivation had been to make a joke, Glorfindel seems totally genuine, the gesture one of respect and welcome. He performs the same movement for Alex.
“Welcome, lost humans and my elven friends. Come, I shall keep you waiting no longer. Elrond is eager to see you and I am sure you are equally ready for proper food and a full night’s rest.” With that, he strides back to his horse and mounts.
I scoot higher on Faervel’s back to give Haldir room and hand him the reins. The horses must sense how close we are to extended rest, because they race faster than they did the entire journey. Despite my new skill, I have to grip Haldir extra tight to make up for the frantic pace and only being able to use one arm. Though the mountain slope is steep and the city surely has to be miles away, we arrive in less than an hour.
Streams of blue and white cascade above us, falling every way I turn and crashing down below. The air smells impossibly sweet and fresh — perhaps due to the flowers that bloom all around. The rays from the sinking sun, brilliant orange and gold, mingle with the water in the falls and, just as Haldir promised, send gently curving rainbows over our path. I let out a breath, completely stunned.
“Isn’t it beautiful?” Haldir’s voice holds a reverence I’ve never heard before, but it is aptly placed. I could not fathom regarding this city with anything less than the utmost respect and admiration.
“I’ve never seen anything like it. Even in my homeworld, I—” I blink, unable to comprehend the etherial nature of my surroundings. “I would have remembered it. This…”
“I know.” Theres a soft, almost vulnerable quality to his voice that caresses the phrase. I can imagine his eyes are alight like mine, taking in the splendor of the city even though he’s seen it many times before. I’d wager this is a sight one never gets used to.
Glorfindel pulls his horse to a stop before an arching, narrow bridge.
Oh no.
I suck in a sharp breath, gripping onto Haldir with both my injured and uninjured arm. My wound stings, but it is preferable to suffer this momentary pain than to loosen my grip and go plummeting off the edge.
Haldir chuckles, the vibrations rumbling deep in his chest. “The bridge is only the beginning. Look ahead—part of the main city is suspended on pillars.”
My stomach churns and I feel my heart race. By the way my arms constrict around him, Haldir seems to figure out that he has not employed the wisest strategy. His voice softens and he squeezes my hand like he did earlier, after the attack. “Faervel knows the way. Neither he nor I will let you fall.”
I take a deep breath. It’s either the bridge and the safety of Imladris or the orc-infested mountains. And, I suppose, Haldir has gotten us this far. Minor injuries aside, we survived a heavily out-numbered attack relatively unscathed. I trusted him then and I can trust him now. “Fine.”
He chuckles again but makes a big show of lining Faervel up with what will be the middle of the bridge. I resist the urge to elbow him in the ribs — armor covers them anyway. It would hurt me more than it would him.
Glorfindel calls out in that language again, then directs his horse onto the bridge. The three other mounted guards follow. Then, so gently I barely register the change, Faervel steps from the lush grass to the stone of the bridge. Water roars and tosses below us, drowning out any words the others might say. And drowning you if Faervel doesn’t keep straight. That is, if the impact doesn’t kill you first. I fight the urge to whimper and keep my eyes locked straight ahead. Almost to the end.
The bridge is mercifully short and soon we are on much surer foundations, having crossed into the city. While the water still cascades around us, its noise has subsided, almost like it’s been muted. In its place, soft, lyrical music fills the air. Harps. Once we are far from the bridge, I look around. The buildings are made of stone yet seem a natural part of the valley. Chains of flowers spill from every archway, peek between small cracks in the stone, weave into the intricate designs in the masonry. Trees, the same ones that welcomed us at the border, make a home in the city, growing where they wish — even if that means rising alongside a fabricated pillar.
Haldir speaks softly, hesitantly, almost like he doesn’t want to interrupt my exploration of the city. “Is it worth the bridge?”
I realize we’ve come to a stop in front of a large dais backed by a constant stream of blue and frothy white. It’s like we’re in the waterfall. “Definitely,” I exhale. Though, I have no desire to cross that bridge again any time soon.
A tall man steps onto the dais. His face is kind and, though the edges of his mouth and forehead are lined with creases, he could be any age. He seems altogether outside of time. His eyes hold wisdom, more than I could ever hope to collect, and I know this must be the Elrond my friends talked about. He could be no other.
He spreads his hands and smiles warmly. “Welcome. Our friends from Lothlórien and the humans who accompany them, welcome to Imladris. We have dinner prepared for you. Leave your horses with the guards — they will be well cared for.”
I believe him. He could probably tell me the sky is green or Faervel is a mouse and I wouldn’t question it.
And if he told you that you’re in a different world?
I gulp and push the weighted thought away.
Haldir swings his left leg to meet his right and slides off Faervel’s back. As always, he keeps a gentle hold on me until my feet are securely on the ground, then clasps his hands behind his back in his most favored stance.
I peek behind me to locate Alexander. He shifts from foot to foot and darts his eyes suspiciously around the room. With his short hair, lanky stature, and clear discomfort, he looks so out of place here. With a start, I realize that I must, too. Though the physical differences are certainly apparent, there’s just something about these men…an otherworldliness I had somehow gotten used to during our journey. But here, in this unreal city surrounded by others who are so clearly not men…For the first time, I truly, honestly consider that they might not be human.
Rumil appears on my right side, practically beaming with excitement. “What do you think?”
I exhale on shaky breath, my recent realization having left me feeling a little lightheaded. “I think it’s a lot to take in. It’s gorgeous, though.”
At my left, Haldir eyes me curiously. He heard my reaction upon reaching Imladris and is probably wondering why I’m downplaying it to Rumil. Truth be told, I just don’t have the energy to take much more this evening. A good meal and sleep will hopefully help.
“Orophin!”
I tilt my head around Rumil to find the source of the delighted shriek and find myself staring at the most enchanting woman I’ve ever seen.
Her hair, coiled and dark, tumbles down her back in tight curls, brushing the back of her legs. Her espresso skin shines in the nearly-faded light, almost as if it has a luminescence of its own — perhaps a result of the joy that radiates from her. She wears a long, ruby-colored gown that sweeps gently over the stairs as she practically throws herself down them, sprinting in our direction.
“Meleth nîn!” Orophin calls back to her, breaking from our informal line and rushing to whom I assume to be his fiancée.
Indulgent chuckles run through our group as the two collide, gripping each other in a fierce hug. They pull back almost immediately, pressing their foreheads together and just staring into each other’s eyes. The action seems much more intimate than if they had fallen to the floor in a passionate embrace, and I avert my eyes, feeling the need to give them privacy.
“Come on,” Haldir whispers, ghosting his fingers over my elbow. “They will join us later.”
Elrond leads us through open-air hallways. Every way we turn seems to offer a view of the waterfalls and brings with it a light, fresh scent. He takes us right, bringing us through one final archway and into what looks to be a dining room. In the center is a long rectangular table surrounded by ten matching chairs. The table is already stacked with food — breads, salads, fruits, and various kinds of meat that smell absolutely mouthwatering.
Elrond smiles invitingly, entering the room and stopping behind the chair at one of the table’s heads. “I expected you would be weary this evening and would wish to dine in private. Please, sit and help yourselves.”
I follow Rumil and Haldir, hoping I’m not violating any social rules I am unaware of by choosing a random seat in the middle. Before I can pull the chair back, Haldir steps in to complete the task, gesturing for me to take a seat. I have to hold back my amusement at the antiquated gesture — perhaps it’s a custom here. He does seem more formal than Alex and I are.
Haldir and Rumil take the chairs on either side of me and, before long, Alex appears at my opposite. I smile at him. Given our recent arguments and the fact that I don’t really know if we’re friends in this life, I’m not quite sure where we stand. But he returns the gesture which allows me to breathe a sigh of relief. He’s familiar, at least. Baranor sits between Alex and Elrond and immediately the two healers engage in deep discussion.
I distract myself with the food and soon have more piled on my plate than I could possibly hope to eat, but I can certainly try. Before long, Orophin and the woman from earlier join us and are welcomed jovially.
Orophin beams, gesturing to the woman at his side. “Lavandil, these are the humans I was telling you about. Cosima and Alexander, this is my betrothed, Lavandil.”
Lavandil sets her excited gaze on both myself and Alex. “Hello, it’s so nice to meet you. Welcome to Imladris! We are pleased to have you here.” Her voice is warm, welcoming, and I find it impossible not to smile along with her, distressed though I am at Orophin’s clear distinction of me as ‘human’.
Orophin pulls out a chair for Lavandil and sits between her and Alex, who looks ridiculously uncomfortable in the presence of so many of these…humans. Though, I must admit, my resolve to call them that is steadily weakening.
Minutes later, Glorfindel enters the room accompanied by a demure man called Lindir. Haldir and Glorfindel fall into a spirited debate about patrol strategies and border security. Rumil piles something on my plate that he claims I have to try. He’s not wrong — it’s really good!
“So, Cosima, Alexander.” Lavandil props her elbow on the table and rests her chin on her hand, looking at us with interest. “Orophin says they happened upon you both near the river and that you haven’t any memories?”
All eyes converge on me and Alex. I don’t trust him to be polite, so I hurry to answer her question.
“Yes. We remember each other and tiny snippets of our home, but besides that, nothing.”
“How strange,” she muses, looking fascinated. “That must have been so shocking. How are you adjusting?”
I exhale slowly, playing for time. How am I adjusting? The weight of everyone’s eyes feels almost crushing. “It’s definitely a lot to get used to,” I say diplomatically. “But we’re really lucky to have run into good people who were willing to help.”
Despite his feelings towards our companions, Alex wisely remains silent. It would do us no good to offend our hosts.
Lavandil giggles, the sound bright and cheerful. “I’m glad they were helpful and not rude. I know Haldir has a tendency to interrogate first and help later. He’s slow to trust.” She shoots Haldir a teasing grin, to which he merely rolls his eyes, but his cheek twitches like he’s fighting a smile.
I try to suppress a grin. “Well, he wasn’t exactly warm and fuzzy, but he calmed down quickly enough.” I purse my lips, contemplating. “But now that I think about it, no one really left me unattended or gave me a weapon even though the trip was dangerous. Hold on, do any of you actually trust me?” I lean back in my chair and cross my arms, though I raise an eyebrow at Haldir to let him know I’m only kidding.
He shakes his head, huffing in mock exasperation. “We trust you now but at the start, how was I to know you weren’t some sort of spy?”
“A spy!” I huff. “I’m hurt. But moving on. Later, once you decided I was not a spy, how come no one gave me a knife or anything?”
Rumil chortles. “Have you seen the lines of your mending? You’re more likely to impale yourself than an enemy.”
I grumble indignantly. He’s right, but that doesn’t mean I have to tell him so.
Haldir quirks an eyebrow. “Would you like to learn? I can teach you.”
I think on this. Hmmm…do I need to learn how to use a weapon? Probably. But do I want to? Surprisingly, I find that the answer is yes. This world is obviously dangerous—I got a very real reminder of that just a few days ago—and I want to be capable in it. Haldir or the others might not always be there to defend me—I should learn how to protect myself.
“Yeah, I would. Thank you!”
Haldir nods, the edges of his mouth pulling into an expression of grim determination. I quickly discover why.
He’s psyching himself up, I realize with a quiet laugh.
He inclines his head towards Alex. “And you, Alexander? I can teach you as well.” By the gravity in his tone, it is clear Haldir’s offer is real, but begrudging.
Alex takes a bite of fruit. “No thank you.”
That’s to be expected. Though Haldir was angry earlier and probably overreacted, he did make a good point when he said that Alex has yet to make an effort to adjust to life here. He’s stayed on the edge of things since the moment we encountered him, always keeping one foot out the door.
A voice warns me that, rather than criticizing Alex, I should have been doing the same.
Elrond motions for an attendant to refill my glass of water. “Baranor says you were attacked in the mountains? That must have been very frightening.”
Flashes of grotesque beasts and shining swords enters my mind and I shrink away from the images. I know we’re safe inside these halls but the fear is still there, lurking at the edges of my thoughts.
Haldir cuts in and I realize I have been silent for longer than is polite. “We were attacked, yes, by about eighteen orcs, wouldn’t you say?”
Rumil and Orophin both nod — I didn’t even know they had a count. I had been focused trying to dodge the blades and arrows. To me, it seemed there was an endless stream of the monsters. Haldir continues. “We killed them all and had no trouble for the rest of our journey. It does make me wander though,” his eyes dart to mine and then quickly away. “Such a large party so close to your borders? Is that common these days?”
“Yes.” Elrond nods gravely. “We have seen an increase in scouting parties and attacks. Just last month, a fully armed company of forty attempted to breach one of our southeastern border stations.”
“No,” Orophin breathes, gripping Lavandil’s hand tightly, a stricken look of horror stretching his face.
She brushes his concerns aside. “Oh, I’m fine. I was up north visiting my mother at the time. I didn’t even know the attack had occurred until I returned home.”
Orophin’s reaction worries me. I lay my fork on my plate, appetite fading as fear gnaws at the edges of my gut. “That’s unusual?”
Haldir shakes his head. “It is not unusual to encounter orcs at the borders, but an armed, prepared, planned attack of such a large number is…telling.” He avoids my gaze.
My body runs cold. “Telling of what?”
“Sauron,” Elrond says simply.
“That name means nothing to them,” Orophin reminds him, still looking at his love. He holds so much concern in his eyes—and a measure of fear—and I wonder just how big of a threat this is. Is Lavandil in danger? Is Elrond? Are we?
Elrond elaborates. “Sauron is a being of great power and even greater evil. He was defeated once before, but whispers of his presence have been heard throughout the realm. I believe he is growing in power again, gathering his armies. He is preparing.”
I drop my hands into my lap, gripping the edges of the chair in an attempt to find an anchor. Across from me, Alex has gone pale.
I don’t have to ask what this being is preparing for. It’s obvious. He’s preparing for war.
If the orcs weren’t bad enough, now we’ve got an evil power looming over us all? I wonder…is my homeworld safer than this?
Glorfindel raises his glass of deep red wine. He holds a steely, almost feral glare in his golden eyes and, suddenly, I am very, very afraid of him. “As quickly as he rises, so shall he fall.”
All aside from Alex and me raise their goblets, a forceful, “hear, hear” resounding through the room of stone. My eyes meet Alex’s. He raises an eyebrow as if to say, what do you want to do?
And I know my answer.
I want to go home.

take me to your heart
Summary: Lola's never had a proper Christmas, and after this one, she still hasn't, but Tommy's a surprisingly good gift giver. Set during the tour with Roxie, but well after she's departed.
A/N: Written on my phone, v Christmas. Warning: Lola n Nikki give each other dirty gifts but the fic is sfw. Tommy-centric. Also idk if he's genuinely greek orthodox, he might not be idk
[run to paradise]
----
"Sharise wants to do something for Christmas," Vince sighs, his heels resting on the table of the tour bus. Lola, at least, looks up from her magazine with a frown, though she seems to be the only one paying attention.
"She's in LA."
"We'll be in Phoenix by then, its not that long of a flight," Vince answers quickly, and Lola goes back to her magazine. "I don't know what to get her."
"A six-pack and edible panties," comes Nikki's answer, half distracted where he was trying to write lyrics. Vince's expression, however, wrinkles.
"Have you ever bought a present for a lady who wasn't Lola?" He snaps, crossing his arms, and though he can't see Lola's amused expression, he hears her snort of laughter.
"Yes," Nikki responds flatly, finally looking up, "but incase you haven't noticed," he gestured around to the bus, which was filled only with the band, as well as Doc and Lola, "none of them are still here."
"That's correlation, man, not causation -"
"You know what? Fuck your five dollar words, man, I was trying to help." Nikki snapped, picking up his notebook in a huff and heading to the back of the bus. Silence fills the air, Vince sulking a little, Tommy just looking between Lola and Vince. Mick, who was trying to nap, sighs deeply and shifts in his uncomfortable seat.
"Is that all you've ever gotten for Christmas?" Tommy asks and Lola's response is surprisingly honest.
"Zero expectationsl, zero disappointments; drink, eat, fuck, like any other day." She does give pause there, the magazine rustling as her grip tightens just a little, and when she lowers it, there's amusement in her eyes. "Also, grape is the best flavour."
"What?"
"For edible panties."
"You guys are absolutely no help." Vince declares. Mick just laughs at that.
Lola's never been too bothered by not having a proper Christmas, she and Nikki live a pretty secular life when they weren't dabbling in Satanism, and the others were usually too busy doing their own things around the holidays to notice the pair's lack of any sort of traditions. Usually they'll buy each other booze, or some sort of joke present, but its never been a particularly sentimental time for Lola, not that anyone had really noticed her apathy enough to care.
Until now.
The holidays have always been a sentimental time for Tommy, and though he'd strayed from his Greek Orthodox roots, he still took it as a chance to show his family how much they meant to him, and now he was feeling like a fool for leaving his band-family out for so long.
What the hell could he get them that they didn't already have?
Nikki was easy, as it turned out. One quick phonecall home, his father spends about twenty minutes rifling through the junk Tommy had left from hia teenage years, and a poster, heavily creased and golden with age, is waiting at their next hotel, express shipped. Nikki didn't want or need any fancy packaging, so Tommy bought a big, yellow envelope and put the poster inside, along with a lighter he'd bought at a gas station. It looked cheap, a bit rough around the edges, but he was pretty sure Nikki would appreciate it all the same.
Mick was a little more difficult, seeing as he was almost guaranteed to throw out any joke gifts, or amything he didn't want. It feels like a cop-out, to just give him booze - expensive booze, mind you - instead of something sentimental. As luck would have it, Tommy finds himself scoring blow in an alley beside a pawn shop, and once the deal's done, he spots an iridescent alien-head keychain. He tapes the charm to the bottle of booze, amd slaps a bow on it, and is satisfied.
He and Vince have been exchanging Christmas presents since high school, as long as they were in the same town. Mostly they're joke presents. Tommy's had this year's picked out for months; a Malibu Barbie he'd repainted himself with Vince's stage make-up. Vince he didn't need to worry about.
Lola was a different story. She lived her life in the shadow of the band's, her existence, her belongings, were a patchwork of their leftovers; her creature comforts were consumables, and while she always took whatever she could wherever she was, it was because she could, not because she wanted things. What can you get for the girl who seems to want nothing, and still gets everything?
"Lola doesn't want things, she wants experiences, opportunities," Vince is the one who Tommy finally goes to for advice, and was the only one who Tommy knew would be actually helpful. They're in Vince's dressing room now, Tommy polishing off a bottle of Jack while Vince touches up his own eyeliner. Tommy's frowning, still at a loss, and he lowers the bottle. Their eyes meet in the reflection of the mirror, and Vince visibly hesitates before speaking again.
"Have you ever heard her play piano?"
Christmas rolls around and they're stuck in a hotel in Arizona. They're finishing the tour in LA just days before New Years Eve; the end is so close they can all almost taste it.
Sharise invites them all to dinner, well, she invites Lola when she learns that Lola's never had a proper Christmas dinner and 'the rest of them can come too if they want'. Tommy feels like Santa, laden with gifts, as he gets to the private room they had booked at the nicest resturant in town that was still open. He'd spent the morning organising Lola's gift, and was glad to have a break to eat before he gave it to her, or more accurately, took her to it.
"We were meant to bring presents?" Lola looks immediately panicked when he steps inside with a rather full backpack. She starts patting down her pockets as if hoping to magically find a pile of gifts there. "I didn't- I mean like I didn't bring them- its just drinks- nice drinks -" she clarified, but Tommy grins brightly.
"It's chill, Lols, I just saw this stuff around and thought it would be nice, its not a big deal," with that he laughed a little self consciously, "and dude, I'm sorry but I don't even have a thing to give you."
Lola can't help but be a little put out by that, still strangely childish in ways that continue to baffle Tommy, but he hopes she'll appreciate his gift, even if he can't give it to her with the others.
They do exhange gifts; Tommy gives Sharise champagne, and she seems more amused by his gift to Vince than Vince is. Vince, for his part, gives Tommy an ornate fountain pen, which has Tommy confused at first, while Nikki roars with laughter, pulling out an incredibly cheap ballpoint with a bow on it.
"You guys are fucking assholes," Tommy scowls once he realises, though by now even Lola's snickering. The scar from where Roxie had stabbed him several months ago begins to ache, just a little.
Mick, like Lola, doesn't have any gifts either, but he passes her a lighter and gruffly tells her he found it on the bus, that it was her's and that this isn't a gift. He does, however, smile at the keychain Tommy gives him, and in a few days, Tommy will see it looped around the handle of one of his guitar cases.
To no ones surprise, Nikki puts a six-pack and a pair of cheap, grape flavoured, edible panties on the table, and slides it gracelessly across the table to Lola wearing a shiteating grin. Mirroring his smile, Lola reaches into the inner pocket of her jacket, and flicks him a little cardboard package. Its unmarked, nondescript, and absolutely no-one at that table trusted Lola to have put something appropriate in that box. Everyone waits with a sort of morbid curiosity as Nikki shakes the box, giving pause before opening it.
"It vibrates." Is all Lola says as he holds up the bright purple cockring, smile on his face giving away how genuinely amused he was with it.
"Presents are cancelled," Sharise declared with faux exasperation, but Tommy's already protesting, holding out his own gift to Nikki.
Sharise hands Lola a small present as Nikki unwraps his. For Lola, its new black lipstick and eyeliner, and for Nikki, its an old poster of his band, London, and a cheap lighter. Nikki's expression is unreadable, blinking slowly at the poster, the room's gone quiet enough that everyone can hear it crinkle in his hands as he looks up at Tommy's smile.
"It's the one I used to have on my wall, man; my folks kept all my old posters, I thought you might wanna burn the shit out of this one." He gestures to the lighter, nervousness bubbling in his stomach, unsure of how Nikki feels about it, his face still a little shocked.
Little by little, Nikki's lips turn to a smile, a bright, beaming, genuine grin. He practically launches himself across Mick to wrap Tommy in a hug, fierce and bright. Mick grumbles, but Nikki just crows about how weirdly cool it was.
"Yeah, i figured arson and petty revenge are like, two of your favourite things," Tommy babbles, hugging Nikki back, quietly pleased with himself. Its a strangely endearing moment, and when Tommy looks over at her, he catches Lola's adoring smile as she watches them, but its gone quickly.
Dinner is fun, between the bottles of rum they finish off between them and the lines of coke they have for dessert, which Sharise mostly abstains from, they don't really get out of line. Except for when Nikki sets the poster on fire with the candle in the middle of the table, and he ends up getting kicked out.
Whatever, he was mostly done anyways.
After dinner they all go their separate ways, but Tommy catches Lola before she gets too far. She's tipsy, grinning in the cold night air, happy to let Tommy lead her where he may. Lacing her finger with his, her free hand swings the six-pack Nikki had gotten her, while she hums a tune Tommy recognises but can't place.
They come to a stop outside of the Hall where the band were due to perform the following night, their equipment bus parked and quiet beside the building.
"Nothing's in there yet; we're bumping in tomorrow morning," Lola says, her hamd still in his. Tommy just grins, pulling a set of keys from his pocket, jangling them enticingly.
"So we've got the whole night."
Inside, in the middle of the stage, lit by a single warm, golden spotlight, sits a grand piano. The whole building is empty, save for the two of them, and Lola's grip on his hand tightens. All words leave her, eyes going wide and surprised.
Walking forward, she heads towards the piano, but she doesn't let go of his hand, gently tugging him along with her. His name leaves her lips, a disbelieving, reverential utterance. The lid is already lifted and she carresses the keys with her free hand.
"You didn't have to-" she turns to him, expression awed, but he gives her hand a squeeze.
"Merry Christmas, Lols."
Stepping up to him, her hand is gentle on his cheek, far more gentle, more tender than he was used to her being. Leaning in, they kiss softly, in sync, fitting together as they always had, as they were always meant to. Pulling away, Tommy's grin is fond as he kisses the tip of her nose. Untangling their fingers, he gestures wordlessly to the piano.
Lola sits, hesitates, listening to Tommy's retreating footsteps.
"Where are you going?" She asks quietly, fingers dancing across the keys as she plays a quick scale.
"Vince told me-"
"That snitch." Lola laughs softly, before adding, "'told you I don't like an audience, didn't he?" Tommy agrees, still paused halfway to the door. Lola is quiet for a moment, and she stops in her movements, but then she starts up again, and Tommy's heart is in his throat as he hears thw opwning bars of the song he'd been working on for almost a month amd a half now. The song's not yet finished, but he'd know the opening to Home Sweet Home anywhere.
"Can you stay?" Lola's voice is barely audible above the music. "If you want to, I'd like you to stay." And she doesn't know the lyrics, so she keeps playing what she's heard him play a hundred times over.
"I didn't know you knew this that well," Tommy finds himself smiling, walking back to the piano, to sit down beside Lola where she's shifted over to make room for him. She's smiling too, genuine, actually a little bashful, and she's still playing when she admits her thoughts.
"It's shaping up to be one of my favourites."

The Greatest Showman
P.T. Barnum x aerial acrobatic! female reader
Warning: none
Specifics: fluff, romance, comedy, some flirtiness
People: P.T. Barnum, you, Mr. O’ Malley, Lettie Lutz, Anne Wheeler, Phillip Carlyle, and Tom Thumb
Words: 1,850
Requested by: By @melodicartist612 Could you do a "The Greatest Showman" imagine with P.T. Barnum? Where the reader is an aerial ballerina, and the two have an act together, and the reader discovers he loves them back through the act (body language/words give it away)? Thank you!! I love your work!
“Oh dear, oh dear! I am terribly late!”
Feet stopping through a puddle of rain. Yes this was you, in a situation of being late to practice. The weather contained of gray clouds and the wind howling. Your poor skin was kissed by the cool air. You were just in your skimpy outfit.
“C’mon y/n, Phineas is counting on you.”
You did not want to make him enraged with your actions. Truth be told you had a massive crush on the greatest showman. He meant everything to you. He was so important in your life. He made you feel needed. Also you could not be tardy for the sake of your friends, they really counted on you to make this show perfect. “Great,” you thought to yourself. These protestors were starting to run after you. You smirked to yourself, “piece of cake.” Just then you saw a piece of rope out at a factory. You stared at the object as if it were your prey. You jumped off the wooden box you were on and flew. Your calloused, muscled hands took a grip of the rough rope. You swung to the other side (i don’t need to see the other side...srry). The gap between was so huge but you went over it. You landed on the other side like how to land when you perform. You laughed seeing the faces of the protesters, their faces looking amazed. They just couldn’t help it, it was pretty awesome. You looked at your watch, just as the hand turned you barged in the tent. “I’M HERE!” You announced as if you were announcing that you were going to be having a baby. Everyone looked at your face, your cheeks flushed to cherry red from all that exercise. Your heart beating rapidly and your breathing coming out as gasps. P.T. made it over to you. He gave his million dollar smile to you. You smiled back, “sorry I am so late. I woke up late and I forgot to feed snappy (your pet parrot idk I just wanted that really bad) and-” P.T. puts his index on your lips to shush your rambling, he rubs your lips a little as he comes off. “Don’t worry y/n, the point it you made it and that's all that matters, right?”
You nod, laughing at your silliness. Your palms slap his shoulders, “right! Also, Phineas remember we have that number together.”
He smiles, “you didn’t need to remind me. I was looking forward to this for a long time now.”
You walk away to practice. Your heart beating more strongly now from his comment. You strut away with more sway in your hips knowing that he's looking. Mr. O’ Malley walks up, his eyes bugging out almost drooling on himself. “Wow, what a woman.” P.T. delivers a death glare at O’ Malley, “watch out buddy...she's mine.” P.T. follows after you.
P.T. shows up when you are in the midst of getting everything set up. You come down with your silks.
P.T. takes his hat off with a glint in his eyes. He smiles at you. As you make it down he whispers to you, “the angel of silks. The beauty of a woman.” You grin at him and bend down beside him to get all the props together. “Alright so from what I am aware of you,” your finger touching lightly his chest, “you will be singing, and me performing.”
“Yes, so when I stand here I want you to give me all you got. We are getting many tourists here today, the most I think we will have so far. And I want you to show them your elegance and what you bring to the table.”
“Of course, I was also thinking that me and you can meet in between almost touching,“ you grab the silks doing the move, “but not just yet. It will keep the audience on their toes. That is if you want that cause you know we don't need to put that in there we can do whatever you want.”
“You y/n are a genius. It's a splendid idea, thank god that we have you on the team.”
“Thank you,” you were now feeling bashful from all his compliments, but if only they meant something more. If only he truly loved you like you love him.
“No y/n...thank you.”
You both practiced until you both got it like you knew the back of your hand. You wanted to show P.T. that you were talented so you worked your hardest. The odd thing though was that he did not want to sing the song yet, he said it was a surprise. You were terrified and excited at the same time. Thinking the worst alongside with the best outcome.
“Shows about to start!” P.T. exclaimed.
You looked in the mirror getting yourself ready while the show played. You, Anne, and Lettie helped each other out with makeup and hair. That was like girl time. You all gossiped and laughed while awaiting. This helped with your nervousness and you learned its way better to calm down before performing or else your nerves take over.
“So y/n,” Anne started while putting makeup on you. “What's this I’ve been hearing that you and Mr. P.T., are kinda a couple.”
Lettie laughs and gasps saying, “no waaaay!”
You duck down and fake cry from embarrassment, “nope thats a lie. That's a 100% lieeeeeee!”
“That's not what I’ve been hearing. Why are you embarrassed, you guys are a lovely couple. C’mon ride that circus train!” Anne says while pretending to do a lasso and riding a bull.
Lettie shushes you all saying, “guys looks who watching.”
You all turn your heads to where she is pointing to see P.T. smirking, but like those sexy smirks where he like wants to pounce on you. (yes pls) When he hears his part about to come on he winks at you before running to the stage. Your cheeks turn the reddest and you fake die in the chair. Your body feels like liquid as if his stare, no his eyes melted you.
“I guess Anne was right,” Lettie sang.
“Told y’all,” Anne beamed.
You questioned everything that day. You questioned why did you not arrive later so you would not have to perform with him, you questioned what you fed snappy, but the thing you questioned most was did Phineas Barnum have feelings for you. You saw that Anne and Lettie were done and you peered at the clock. You sighed, “well girls its showtime.”
“Yeah have fun during lovetime,” Lettie coughs. “I mean showtime.”
You gave Lettie a death glare. “Here we go,” you whispered to yourself behind the curtain on the second floor.
P.T. introduced you, “-here is the one and only the angel of silks.” You came down again just like you practiced.
“You can do this y/n just like you practiced,” you thought to yourself.
video is “Once Upon A Dream - Lana Del Rey | Selkie Hom - Aerial Hammock Music Video de Erin Brown” look up these exact words on youtube
Listen to the song with this, (the song is in next line, so watch the video and listen to this song while you are watching)
That's when P.T. sang.
song is “Perfect - Ed Sheeran”
His voice the definition of perfection. If his voice had to be an object it would be diamonds but even that is an understatement. But the song, the words were about...love. Why was he singing this for the performance. During your performance he sang as if to you. You went to his face almost to kiss him but not quite as you climb back up. He came beside you in some parts to touch your legs, they were like feather touches. Your breath hitched at the contact. Why were you feeling these feelings. P.T. was also dancing with you above him. He was on his knees singing to you. His eyes meeting yours, it was if the lyrics with his dance moves meant that he was begging for you to adore him, to desire him, to want to be his. What was that you were feeling, was that a, tear. Yes, you were tearing up. This was so much for you, all his emotions his gestures pouring out to you like a waterfall. He made you feel as gorgeous as the brightest pearl, and made you feel as if it was only you and him not just in this room but in the world. That was it, that moment was just as if your heart no longer belonged to you it belonged to him. He smiled when he saw you cry knowing the reason for it. His eyes seeing your beauty and just his overpowering love for you, that his brown orbs became glassy. It was as if another minute went by that you both were not together that the world would burn in flames. P.T. raced up to the second floor (like Phillip) and as he sang that last verse (time 3:30) he jumped to you. You both twirled together, you between his arms. You both tearing up at your love for each other. The audience roaring at your guys performance. The silk cocooning you both to make you and P.T. closer. The sight was captivating, it was as if Romeo and Juliet got to be finally together. P.T. sang his song while looking directly into your eyes, “I have faith in what I see now I know I have met an angel in person, and she looks perfect. I don’t deserve this, you look perfect tonight.” The whole room went silent. Everyone was anticipating for you both to do something. You both twirled together one hand holding a piece of silk and your other holding his cheek, him doing the same. You both entwine together, crying and kiss. As your lips met in a longing kiss the whole room lifted up and cheered for you two. Throwing instead of garbage, roses. You forgot you were still suspended in the air and you lifted both hands to go and grab his chocolate locks. You gave a little shriek but P.T. caught you and whispered to you, “I got you, I’ll never let go.” You beamed and jumped to him more to give him another kiss. Your lips were in perfect sync and you just wanted his lips to stay with you forever. It was as if your lips were molded for his. You both were brought up more to the second floor. Everyone that partakes in the show was there watching you guys make out. As you both let go, all your friends made an awww sound while Anne said, “knew it.” (Palpatine: do it)
P.T. gleaming like the sun, took off his hat and gave his cane to Phillip. Phillip questioned P.T. while P.T. just answered him, “I have some business I need to get to with my love.” He was holding you in his arms and you just felt safe. P.T. went to put his coat on you and carried you bridal style out the tent. You both left laughing and kissing. The rest of the gang just watched while Tom Thumb interrupted, “so does that mean that they are together?’
