Angus figures everything out and fucks up Lucretia’s whole Thing AU

Lucretia hires angus, innoculates him, and is like this is the deal with those missing people cases you were investigating

Angus says oh okay! This totally and completely satiases my curiosity :)

Internally angus says this is sus as hell

So he does what he does best, he snoops

So angus is snooping and somehow, cause he's a little crime boy who can sneak around real good, he finds the starblaster

He's like what the fuck is this

He gets in, and it's.....odd. he doesnt linger in any one room too long, he just kind of pokes his head into the bedrooms and moves on (he figures he shouldnt stay here too long, lest he get caught)

But the most peculiar thing is how lived in this place looks. There's mismatched furniture with throw pillows and blankets in the common area, a chore chart on the fridge, the bedrooms are all cluttered with knick knacks and clothes, beds unmade, theres a lab with papers scattered around tables and taped to the wall

But one room catches his attention

It's... fairly simple, and emptier than the others. Bookshelf with some books missing, a bare desk, but what catches his attention is the pile of red on the bed

He goes to investigate and finds robes and jackets, all with an odd patch and names embroidered on them

He finds, in this order:

A robe with "lucretia" embroidered on it

A jacket and robe, together as if someone had been wearing them at the same time, with "lup" and "taako"

A jacket with "davenport"

A robe with "merle"

A jacket with "magnus"

(there’s no barry robe cause he fell off the ship with it, these are the robes/jackets lucretia took off of the crew members as she sent them off to their new lives)

Now. This is after crystal kingdom and angus was at the candlenights party. He knows the director's name is lucretia

He knows who Davenport is

He knows who taako, magnus, and merle are

This is pre-LUP incident, so he doesnt know who lup is

Angus, appropriately freaked out, puts them all back and BOLTS

Angus vacates the premises

Runs back to his room

He tries to figure out what this all means, but his thoughts dodge around the obvious conclusion that's right in front of him

Hes too nervous to go back, it's not until the L U P incident that he decides okay. I have to go back

So he goes back. He goes into the room labeled Captain's Quarters (although "captain" has been scratched out and changed to "cap'nport". Angus doesnt think too hard about what that means)

In the desk he finds some folders with the same weird logo as the robes and jackets. He doesnt look in them. Not yet. He can do that back in his room. He cant spend too much time here.

Then he goes to the lab. He doesnt know what hes looking for, but he grabs ones that seem important. A notebook or two. Some papers clipped together. He just grabs and shoves them into his bag and he fuckin bolts again

he looks at what he grabbed and some of it he can read, some of it he can't

They lived in that ship. They were going on a mission for something. They made the grand relics to stop something. Theres a lot of notes on the planes.

Angus recognizes the way some stuff is redacted, and he kind of figures out that there must be another voidfish. And if the directors name was on one of those robes, maybe she has it.

Refuge mission comes and goes

Angus, cause he's so fucking good, is able to sneak back into lucretias personal quarters and finds junior. He fills a water bottle with the ichor and gets the fuck outta there

He gets back to his room, innoculates himself and is like AAAAAAAAAA

Cause he can finally put it all together properly

And he basically pieces together the whole hunger situation himself with the notes he grabbed

The stuff he grabbed from davenports room was the crew's like profiles or whatever from when they got hired on to the mission so angus now knows who lup is

So angus is like oh i GOTTA fix this

So he heads down to the reclaimers dorm with his bottle of ichor

Angus: i need you to drink this Merle: what is it? Angus: voidfish ichor Taako: *laughs* hate to break it to you kid, we already drank the voidfish juice. Angus: just- please? Magnus: yeah alright

So magnus drinks it. His breath catches and he kinda goes weak and he's shaking and he drops to his knees. After a minute or two (or more) he looks up at angus. "Holy shit," he says. He grabs the bottle from where he dropped it and holds it out to taako and merle. "Drink it." He says.

"Yeah alright," merle says. Same deal as with magnus.

Once merle collects himself, they both turn to taako.

"Yeah, alright. Sure. Let's get taako in on this weird party," he says, taking the bottle and drinking

This time, magnus is ready and he catches taako when his knees give out

"Im gonna fucking kill her," taako mumbles into magnus' shoulder, his knuckles white as he grips his shirt.

"You're not gonna kill her."

"Im gonna fucking hit her so HARD, i swear to god."

Taako keeps his face in magnus' shoulder, but magnus and merle watch as angus crosses the room to where taako had left the umbrastaff, and he walks back over to magnus and taako on the floor

"Sir?" Taako looks up at angus. Angus holds the umbrella out, "i think i know where your sister is."

(Lup, meanwhile, in the staff: HEEEEELLLLL YYYYYEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH)

It takes taako a second, but he realizes what angus is saying and scrambles out of magnus' hold and to his feet. He takes the umbrella and lifts it, about to snap it when angus says, "wait!"

Taako glares at him. "Ive waited ten years, kid. Make it snappy." "Madame director had a holy symbol in her office. I think it would ward against your sister, if shes a lich." "Uuugggggghhhhhhhhh LUCRETIAAAAAA"

The four of them go down planetside under the guise of a magic lesson and not wanting to burn any more "cryptic messages" into the walls

Taako snaps that fuckin umbrella as soon as his feet hit solid ground

Lup's back!

Lup does some magic shit to summon barry, so barold shows up, happy reunion, and then a Discussion on what to do re: davenport not being innoculated and re: lucretia

Their plan boils down to this: thb and angus will go back to the moon and act as if this never happened. As far as lucretia knows, thb are still under junior's influence

As soon as they can get davenport alone without rousing any suspicion, they bring him to their room and innoculate him. Once he's got his memories back, he'll be powerful enough to a) get his bracer off/disable the tracking spell in it and b) get off the base undetected

Davenport will definitely not want to go back to playing butler, so he'll sneak off the base and hang out with lup and barry until lucretia sends the boys to wonderland

When the boys get sent to wonderland, theyll meet up, get the bell all together, and THEN confront lucretia, cause at that point theyll have the whole light, and they'll have Options

So they do just that. They go back and innoculate davenport a few days later, a week at most

A panic ensues once everyone realizes davenport is missing

AND the tracking in his bracer is turning up nothing

Lucretia's blood pressure has never been higher

But everything goes as business per usual

Lucretia, oddly enough, suspects nothing re: the boys ‘cause surely they wouldve confronted her if they remembered

The boys get sent down to wonderland. They meet up with blupjeans and dav at the entrance. With the six of them with all their memories and full access to their skills they take edward and lydia down in like 30 minutes. Tops.

So edward and lydia get their asses thoroughly handed to them by the six of them

(Davenport has the time of his LIFE)

They head back to the lich cave, barry gets in his new body and gets innoculated (the boys brought some ichor with them for him)

Lup possesses barry, then barry-with-lup and dav get in the pocket spa and back up to the moon they go

Lucretia is in her office when avi comes knocking "Uh... director? The boys are coming back." "Already?" "Yeah." "Are you sure it's them?" "Yep."

Lucretia is.... stunned. It's been... an hour and a half. Two, maybe. She has full faith in the boys but they took down wonderland in two hours?????

Not even two hours

She goes to meet them, highly suspicious

But they arrive and, sure enough, it's them. No magic. No tricks. It's them, for sure.

taako has the bell and hes just holding it casually from the top as if it isnt one of the most powerful magic items in existence. And she can tell he isnt thralled, that's just how hes decided to transport it.

Lucretia: ive got to admit, you boys took care of that...much faster than i expected Magnus: ah, it was no big Merle: piece of cake! Taako: yeah, luce, shit was easy. Dunno what you were talkin' about earlier.

And lucretia just freezes. Luce. Thats what taako called her. It’s what they all called her, really, but it’s the nickname Taako took 4 whole cycles to give to her, officially cracking the door of friendship open to her. And she looks him in the eyes and she knows that he knows. And she looks at merle and magnus and she can tell they know, too.

And taako gives her a venomous smile, all teeth, and says, "why dont we go have a little chat, madame director" and she flinches at the way he spits out her title

She doesnt know what to do but nod and turn to leave. As she turns, there's angus, looking up at her with a determined set to his brow, and she knows he knows too

They head back to her office, and taako pulls the pocket spa out, and before lucretia can ask him what hes doing, out walks barry and davenport. And barrys eyes have got that red glow about them, so she knows lup's here too.

"Take down the lich ward, lucretia," barry says.

She does, and now there's a firey, red robed lich among them.

Now this is where things get a little iffy for how they work out but here's what i got

They have a similar confrontation as canon where theyre bickering about staying or going, shield or no shield, and im thinking this is where taako has his "there's a third option" realization

And, because they did extreme wonderland speedrun, and they didnt take a whole extra day to travel to the lich cave and just used fuckin magic to get there, theyre a whole day ahead of where they were in canon

The hunger is close enough at this point tho that they can enact the plan like. Now.

But magnus insists on returning Fisher's baby to them first

As magnus takes junior, lucretia works on getting the base secured and getting the bureau members ready for if the hunger touches down before they can cut it off

Magnus goes down to fisher with the baby, he takes his axe and swings, breaking the tank open

Johann, still alive and now soaking wet, is like dude wtf

Magnus returns the baby and out goes the story and song

Now johann is REALLY like DUDE WTF

Magnus is like im off to save the universe. Peace.

So since theyre a whole day ahead of the hunger, all seven of them go up in the ship

And then they fight and they win and they cut the hunger off and it's rad

Oathbringer Spoilers, Part Five: Chapters 121-End

Alright, one last push to finishing the book!

Moash is given a few tasks. Dalinar asks Navani to teach him something. Adolin has doubts for a moment and then gets lectured out of them by Shallan, and also he tells his dad something important. Kaladin runs into some old friends. Taravangian makes a bad deal. Always trust Adolin’s gut instincts about people. Alethkar gets a new monarch. And Wit makes a friend.

For some godforsaken reason, we’ve switched to MOASH. He’s not feeling particularly great about killing Elhokar--gee, wonder why--and we get that there are only nine, not ten, orders of Fused.

Practically speaking, I doubt they can accurately emulate the Bondsmiths. Thematically speaking, there’s that number again.

Lady Leshwi keeps visiting Moash. She says that he has taken Moash’s pain, and will return it when he needs it. Moash just wants to forget the look of betrayal in Kaladin’s eyes.

Good luck with that. It’s like Kaladin told Amaram. You join Odium looking for peace, but you never find it there.

Odium has a command for him. Fuck. Hnanan--one of the higher-ups--pulls out a strange knife--bright gold metal, a sapphire in the sheath. And asks him to kill a god.

With that ominous note, we switch to Navani. She runs out to Dalinar, basically tackling him into a hug. She sends Lopen and Kaladin off. Dalinar says he thinks he knows why the memories came back--Odium would have made him remember one way or another, but this let him prepare. He asks her to study the King’s Drop. And then he asks her something else.

Dalinar met her eyes. “I want you to teach me how to read.”

THIS LINE. I GOT THROUGH ALL THE REST. BUT THIS LINE MADE ME CRY.

Shallan/Radiant/Veil is resting, or trying to. She keeps slipping between Radiant and Veil, which must make her very strange to interact with for everyone else. Jasnah and Navani both don’t make a huge difference to her state.

Someone get Adolin, he’s good at dealing with this. Oh, good, he came.

Adolin is the one who can tell when it’s the real one. He’s the only one who manages to pick it out.

Adolin points out that he could carry her, but then, she’s a Radiant, and he’s tired, so maybe she could carry him. Meanwhile, Kaladin has shown up.

Veil instantly takes over--and also, fucking hell, Kaladin has lost his boots again.

Both Radiant and Veil like Kaladin.

Shallan shoves both of them to the utter back of her mind, because Adolin knows her.

Venli can now switch between old and new rhythms at will, and if she doesn’t have Stormlight, she can make her eyes red. For the moment, then, she can hide her nature.

A Parshendi Knight Radiant. Timbre bound her because so many of their number died, and she didn’t trust the humans.

And she walks over to the singers, and starts telling them about the listeners.

Nale notes that “only Ishar” escaped Braize with his mind intact--but clearly, he didn’t. Szeth swears, and the highspren--which he still doesnt’ see often--approves.

Shallan is looking for Adolin. She also notes that Kaladin has made a habit of just perching dramatically in high places. What a dweeb.

I mean, if I could, I’d do that.

Oh, god, Adolin has decided to “step back” in favor of Kaladin. He says that he’s going to “let [kaladin] have you” which...that phrasing is going to go great. Also, Adolin. Adolin.

I think Shallan can make her own call, here. Adolin points out that Kaladin can fly.

“Oh? And is that what women are supposed to seek in a mate? Is it in the Polite Lady’s Handbook to Courtship and Family? The Bekenah edition, maybe? ‘Ladies, you can’t possibly marry a man if he can’t fly.’ Never mind if the other option is as handsome as sin, kind to everyone he meets regardless of their station, passionate about his art, and genuinely humble in the weirdest, most confident way. Never mind if he actually seems to get you, and remarkably listens to your problems, encouraging you to be you--not to hide yourself away. Never mind if being near him makes you want to rip his shirt off and push him into the nearest alleyway, then kiss him until he can’t breathe anymore. If he can’t fly, then well, you just have to call it off!” She paused for breath, gasping. “And...” Adolin said. “That guy is...me?” “You are such a fool,” She grabbed his ripped coat and pulled him into a kiss, passionspren crystallizing in the air around them.

I LOVE ADOLIN AND SHALLAN

She also notes that she thinks she’s kept it to three personas--and while Shallan’s the hardest, she can probably keep it up with some help. Adolin grins, pointing out that she said she’d kiss him until he couldn’t breathe, but he’s not even winded.

Adolin, I wouldn’t make that bet. She doesn’t have to breathe if she has Stormlight.

Kaladin is also happy for them. He notes that he doesn’t think he’s in love with Shallan--but being around her did make him happy. She reminds him of Tien. He’s picked up a rock, like the kind that Tien always used to give him.

OK, SIBLING RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN KALADIN AND SHALLAN IS SO, SO GOOD.

Rock is still recovering--he sees what he did, shooting Amaram, as a broken oath.

Taravangian admits--he pushed Dalinar aside and wanted to seize control of the coalition. Dalinar realizes--Taravangian didn’t become king of Jah Keved by accident. And Taravangian...tells Dalinar what he’s doing.

Moash is going down into the gardens in Khoilnar. His target is a madman, with an eye color nobody can see.

Jezrien. The Herald Szeth saw in the first prologue. The one Dalinar got drunk with. Why does Odium want to kill a Herald?

What is this death, Jezrien asks as he dies. The Fused didn’t want to murder him themselves. Why not? Why use Moash?

SO UH THAT HAPPENED. MOASH FUCKING OFFED A HERALD.

Anyway, Lopen has his spren! His name is Rua, and he looks like a little boy, but Lopen calls him Naco. LOPEN IS TEACHING RUA HOW TO FLIP PEOPLE OFF LOPEN IS THE WORST INFLUENCE ON SPREN AND I LOVE HIM

OH NO, DRU REALIZED THAT, SINCE KALADIN RETURNED ALONE...OH NO DREHY WAS ON THAT TRIP FUCK

BRANDON YOU BRING DREHY BACK THIS INSTANT AND STOP HIS BOYFRIEND FROM BEING SAD

Anyway, Lopen is managing to cheer up soldiers, mentioning that if one who has lost his arm needs some jokes, he has some. Rua keeps hiding from Lopen, so Lopen has to find him.

LOPEN ACCIDENTALLY SWORE THE SECOND IDEAL FUCK AND HE PUT OUT ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE SURGEON’S TENT

I LOVE HIM SO MUCH

HE WAS SAVING IT FOR A DRAMATIC MOMENT AND THEN STORMFATHER ACCEPTED IT AND LOPEN FLIPPED HIM OFF TWICE. AND RUA DID IT WITH HIM.

I LOVE BRIDGE FOUR SO MUCH.

Kaladin immediately runs off, though, and Rua flips him off too. Lopen tells him not to wear it out.

Ash is trying to take Taln to go see Ishar. And then she feels something rip inside her. Taln collapses. That’s...that’s Jezrien’s death, isn’t it.

Oh, god, Jezrien is Ash’s father. She just felt her father die.

She falls unconscious as the sensation stops, and I can’t blame her.

Kaladin’s flying across the ocean, for some reason. And he finds a group of refugees from Kholinar.

A group flying the bridge four flag.

DREHY AND SKAR! They’re okay!!! They’re alive!!

AND THEY SMUGGLED OUT GAVINOR THEY PROTECT THOSE WHO CANNOT PROTECT THEMSELVES

Okay we don’t get that scene but DREHY BETTER HAVE HAD A GREAT REUNION WITH DRU OKAY DREHY WAS GONE FOR A MONTH WITH NO NOTICE AND DRU THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD

Taravangian is stupid today. He reads letters from his grandchildren. He’s crying. None of his granddaughters know anything of the Diagram, and he’s determined that it will stay that way.

He opens the window during the everstorm, and Odium speaks to him. He says he chose this time on purpose--because he doesn’t want Taravangian to ever, ever think he has power.

Odium says that, if Taravangian serves him--he’ll spare Kharbranth, and anyone born in it, and their spouses. And he’ll be a spy, for Odium. Fuck.

Adolin and Shallan are being adorable always. Have I mentioned how much I like the fact that Adolin loves hugs? I love it. Anyway, some of the older people are rolling their eyes at Adolin and Shallan for being stupidly sappy, which is hilarious.

Awwwh, they’ve set the wedding date! For a week from then--they’re going fast, but hey. They road tripped shadesmar and faced down multiple unmade. She’s realizing, though, that she needs to explain some things--in particular, the Ghostbloods thing--to Adolin.

Apparently Veil and Adolin are, now drinking buddies. I love this so much. Watch out, Adolin, she can absolutely out-drink you. Anyway, Shallan has trouble actually paying attention to the meetings because Adolin. I love how, no matter how cutesy they’re being, nobody can really tell them to stop because one of them is a Radiant and the other is Adolin Kholin.

“You think,” Adolin said. “Taravangian might have done it?” “No,” Dalinar said.

I AM GETTING DECIDED FLASHBACKS TO BOOK ONE WHERE ADOLIN WAS LIKE “HEY WAS IT SADEAS” AND DALINAR WAS LIKE “NO OF COURSE NOT”

ALWAYS. LISTEN. TO. ADOLIN’S. IMPRESSIONS. OF. PEOPLE.

At least he notes that he doesn’t want to trust Taravangian very much. At least he’s learned a little.

Dalinar says that Alethkar needs a king--and Adolin might be it. Adolin admits that he killed Sadeas. Adolin says he can’t be king of Alethkar. Dalinar points out that he can’t, either.

...i think i see where this is going.

Gavinor is too young. Adolin can’t. Renarin would be worse than Adolin. Dalinar can’t.

Shallan blinks, thinking. They need someone diplomatic, but also not someone who can be walked over.

It’s gonna be Jasnah, isn’t it.

Palona is collecting gossip while Sebarial pretends to sleep. I still love them.

OH MY GOD I WAS RIGHT:

The doors to the room slammed open, the noise of it sending a shock through the room, complaints falling silent. Even Turi stood up to note Jasnah Kholin standing in the doorway. She wore a small but unmistakeable crown on her head. The Kholin family, it seemed, had chosen their new monarch.

Anyway, Moash is at work again, and I don’t give a shit about him anymore. Kill Jezrien and Elhokar? Yeah, I don’t give a shit about Moash. But Lady Leshwi offers him an honorblade, and a place with them. Not as Moash, as someone else.

Moash takes the Honorblade, and is given a new name. Vyre.

He Who Quiets.

Fuck.

And then, because this loves jerking us back and forward, we cut to Shallan’s wedding day. BRIDGE FOUR GAVE HER BOOTS AS A WEDDING GIFT. Shallan notes that Adolin is probably just getting....lots of swords. None of which will be as good as Maya.

She pulls up Radiant and Veil to give their opinions--Radiant says it’s worthy, Veil says at least he has good taste in wine.

She realizes--it’s alright to enjoy this. It’s alright to be happy.

And then her door opens--and there are three young men. Balat. Wikim. Jushu.

Her brothers.

Mraize sent a note. He’s asking her to capture Sja-anat, or convince her to work with the Ghostbloods. Shallan notes that it is one of Sja-anat’s spren that Renarin bonded.

We don’t get the wedding itself, but we do get Dalinar heading back happy and full from the feast. Szeth just kinda...chills outside the door. And Dalinar starts writing, carefully. When Navani comes back, he offers it to her to read, as nervous as though it were his first day with the swordmasters.

“You said pronouns have a gender in the women’s formal script, and I realized that the one you taught me says ‘I, being female.’” Navani hesitated, pen in her fingers. “Oh. Right. I guess...I mean...huh. I don’t think there is a masculine ‘I.’ You can use the neuter, like an ardent. Or...no, here. I’m an idiot.” she wrote a few letters. “This is what you use when writing a quote by a man in the first person.”

I’m just pulling this out because, as a nonbinary person dealing with a language that isn’t really designed to accomodate that, i appreciate that Brandon realized this would be a problem. And English isn’t even as bad as Italian. I don’t even know how to refer to myself with some of the past-tense verbs, there.

And we get that Oathbringer, the book, was written by Dalinar. And he’s so happy, so proud of being able to read. He can read the Way of Kings, himself. He can read Jasnah’s biography of Gavilar. He can write notes, and he can write his own life.

I like it. A good title.

Wit is, as he tends to be, talking to himself, in a line of shuffling people. All great art, he says, is hated. He’s in the group of people being shuffled out of Kholinar, to work the farms.

WIT STARTS DUSTING OFF HIS CLOTHING AND STOPS BECAUSE “HE’D WORKED HARD TO PLACE THAT DUST”

I love him. He notes that if Rayse figures out he’s here, the entire city will be levelled, so he’s got to move it. He makes a small doll for a girl, and he...oh, he Breathes into the doll, giving it to the girl to protect her. He gives the girl the doll, and then gets a family whose child died to take care of her.

Wit knows some of the old Parshmen. Vatwha is the current sentinel; they once danced together. He wonders if anyone wonders why the Fused are spending so much time clearing this section of the palace. He’s talking to the wall, as though it’s a person.

He promises it truths.

A small, scared Cryptic.

Wit starts saying the First Ideal.

Oh, no, I know where it came from. That was the section Moash was clearing--the section near where Elhokar died. That Cryptic...it wanted to bond Elhokar. But Elhokar died, in the middle of saying the Ideal, so...Wit had to be there for it.

ok so lemme start with things i like which

1). UHG??? that beach scene!!!!!!! perfect amazing perfection everything ive ever wanted???!!!!????!!!! they held hands im literally crying my hands were over my face the whole time like!!!!!!! AAAAAA so that was great

2). i........ like temple. even tho i got spoiled about him being a villain i still thought the reveal was good and i have such a soft spot for smarmy yandere style “im gonna emotionally torture u :)” villains. it also probably doesnt help that i love and miss church so hes a fun stand in on that front AS WELL AS a stand in as tuckers new evil boyfriend now that felix is a pancake

2.5). unrelated but did we get confirm on felix being dead??? he aint dead til i see a body jussaiyin...

3). i have mixed feelings on church coming back that ill get into but church is maybe my favorite character so ultimately i view that as a plus?

4). i really put this one off cuz i was still reeling over this newest episode but all the potential grif development (and by extension red team development as a whole) that looks like its gonna happen this season has got me bittin the pillow like i kid u not im on the edge of my seat fam

ok but like. now onto the real shit. (THIS GOT SO LONG SHIT)

the one thing that is really REALLY holding me back from fully enjoying this season is wanting to know what the crews fuckin intentions are with this show. like. im gonna go ahead and put my hat on the fuckin table or whatever but season 13 was an ending. it was good fucking ending too (and i know someones gonna go back and pull up receipts of me a year or so ago begging for a continuation season after s13 ended but dont do that pls) and to continue after an ending like that with a time skip like that makes this whole season feel like an epilogue to me? like a clean up? like there were some loose ends were tying up.

like. if theyre serious about this season and about ALL these new characters theyre bringing up then were looking at an arc here. like its gonna have to be to bring this to a proper close after all this extra shit?? they cant comfortably bring this to a close in one season

like what are they planning????whats the point of all this????

i honestly wouldn’t even be so bent out of shape about it all, like it wouldn’t seem like such a stretch but the fact that we’re introduced to this season with dylan, who is also, largely, framed as a main character this season. who is. a new character. :/

like i get the narrative tool of using a reporter to drag your characters out of retirement for “one last job” (again, kinda framing it to be one season which worries me!) but whyyyyyy do we have to go through all this stuff with dylan and jax??????? like W H Y do we have to go through the same relationship development we’ve seen like three times already?????? jax is characteristically indistinguishable from caboose, so like???? weve seen this before!! the cold cynical “i dont need friends im just doing my job” person getting frustrated by having to deal with the idiot heart-of-gold tagalong who refuses to hate them no matter how mean or terrible they are like?? we saw it with church and caboose. we saw it later with wash and caboose. we saw it with church and caboose againnnnnnnn. we even kinda saw it with tucker and palomo!!!!! like whats the point of repeating this scene again and again!!!! we get it cynical mean assholes deserve unconditional love too i guess!!!!

like i just cant really get into it. and i dont even really mind dylan like i like her a lot more than i initially thought i would but i already can pretty much see the direction her character arch is going so im just sorta like shrug. shes gonna push jax until he leaves and then...........only then..........will she learn how much she should have valued his unconditional love.................even if he annoyed her and they didnt get along objectively in any way shape or form. but since he likes her then its her job to reciprocate even if she doesnt get anything out of the relationship at all. also she shot him. but whatever their friendship is beautiful (didnt know i had this much salt over this particular subject lmao whoops)

ok so narratively i only see two reasons to do this and im not crazy about either

1). theyre building up to draw some parallels between dylan and like wash or church or s/t but again i dont see the reasoning like why is this season framed around teacher dylan an important lesson about friendship you brought the show back from the jaws or death to give my a character arc for a new character????

2). this its more significant than it seems (i.e. theyre not who we think they are, i mean, its pretty suspicious we only have jax’s stage name rn) like theyre more significant players than we’ve been led to believe

(((also also im with grif on the whole bringing church back thing lmao. like WE DID THIS ALREADY??? there were a lot of AI why dont we ever go on an epic quest to save any of my other favs like oh idk TEX?????????!!!!!!!!!???????)))

but really tho my real and true problem is that i cant tell why theyre still making episodes. is it because theres still a story here that needs to be told or just because they can. and i know my hangup with this mostly stems from one interview i saw after s13 ended with miles and burnie where burnie pretty much said “yea if i had it my way uh i would end it here but hey it is what it is :/” and that just sorta struck a cord with me. maybe because he was a writer and one of the original people who created it i was sorta uncomfortable with taking the show places he didnt want to take it (and i could be TOTALLY off base with this assessment!!!! like i dont know how burnie really feels about this show rn he could be totally digging the new stuff this is just a personal things thats a hangup in just my own head!!!!)

ok so i think i covered pretty much everything i needed to say about this season so far if you actually read this far thanks if u gave up and skipped to the end then i have one last food for thought:

im gonna be the huge stick in the mud who says it: people are putting way too much faith in a company that is still using donut to make cheap gay jokes by actually thinking grimmons is going to become canon and im sorry that youre going to be disappointed. what we are going to get is a unsatisfying reunion and subsequent make up a la church and tucker in s12 and thats it.

thats not what i want to happen thats what i believe will happen. i am FULLY prepared to eat my own hat if im wrong. you may consider this text post legally binding

@draevianAHH SORRY IVE BEEN SO BUSY but they are both doin good!! I’m not really sure what to do with Nighthold storywise, if anything at all, but prior to the latest patch Sig and Leon have been very busy dealing with Legion nonsense and at least one trust issue between them.

MANY TEXT BELOW that i didn’t proofread so uh sorry if anything doesnt make sense lol i swear it actually does I SWEAR

Sig has been dealin with Highlord stuff that he is technically and emotionally unprepared for. He has the Ashbringer but he himself is no Ashbringer, and no one mistakes him for it. He never wanted anything to do with the sword but he couldn’t exactly scuttle out of this responsibility – several squads of knights from all Orders saw Tirion intentionally push Ashbringer towards Sig instead of Tyrosis that day on the Broken Shore, a final act that Sig (and most everyone else) is still trying to understand. No one likes this arrangement (Liadrin does lol) but no one wants to challenge the fallen Highlord’s decision either, not even Tyrosis. Not yet anyway.

Sig has no power over the Orders either way. The respective Order leaders do all the decision-making at the command table and his input is neither necessary nor wanted, but he still has to sit there and listen to them bicker and be present for other related business,. His role is to bring the Ashbringer to places where its presence will inspire and to occasionally wield it when the Order leaders decide it’s necessary. Ashbringer itself responds consistently to Sig in combat and it seems content in his care, so that’s a positive at least.

After what happened to Tirion on the Broken Shore it became clear the Legion was trying to corrupt the Ashbringer. In order to keep such an important powerful weapon safe, the Orders unanimously decreed it must be in the company of it’s wielder at all times, meaning Sig has to take it with him everywhere. He can’t even leave his room in the order hall without it. If he has to leave the Chapel grounds for any reason, anything from combat missions to just going to Dalaran (if he’s even allowed to), he must take various precautions and be accompanied by special/discreet guards - not to protect him specifically, but to keep the sword from falling into the wrong hands again. He’s basically just the Ashbringer’s keeper, and he might be ok with that job IF he had any sort of freedom whatsoever. He’s not a happy boy these days but at least Leon is there with him most of the time.

Prior to the Broken Shore Leon had been having increasingly-troublesome dreams and strange feelings for several months. He felt very strongly that he needed go somewhere, that the Light needed him for something, but had no clearer direction than that. Even after acquiring a Benediction, even after the Legion invaded, the feelings gnawed at him. He couldn’t shake the thought that he wasn’t doing what he was supposed to do.

Leon interpreted Sig’s acquisition of the Ashbringer as the Light choosing Sig for a greater purpose (Sig strongly disagrees with this lmao), and though Leon stayed by his side in the following turbulent weeks, eventually Leon could not ignore his own calling any longer. From talking to fellow priests in Dalaran he learned there would be a great gathering of many different faiths with the intention of learning how to better deal with Legion threat. He made the tough decision to leave the safety of Light’s Hope to attend this gathering, and perhaps to find (what he hoped would be) the Light’s purpose for him.

Sig could not follow Leon on this journey thanks to his burdensome new responsibilities, but Leon was determined to do this alone anyway. Ever since he was captured during the Siege of Orgrimmar Leon has been too afraid to travel alone like he used to. Tired of feeling helpless all the time, he saw this as an opportunity to prove to himself that he is still capable of handling things on his own. They both knew how potentially dangerous this could be but Leon’s mind was made up.

Leon’s decision to make the journey is actually why they got married suddenly and quietly without any of the grand wedding plans Sig was so adamant about before. Since they both knew Liadrin (Leon knew her in the priesthood, and she is Sig’s boss of course) they asked her to marry them, and she was kind enough to oblige. It was very quick and basic, the equivalent of a 30sec courthouse wedding, but it was official and that’s all that mattered to them.

Unfortunately one of the first things Sig did as a married man was undermine his husband’s wish to travel alone. He knew he couldn’t be there to protect Leon, and as much as he tried to accept this, it tortured him. The last time he chose not to accompany Leon on a trip Leon almost didn’t come back (re: short boring errand to UC ended with priest being in wrong place at wrong time and getting captured by kor’kron oops), and Sig still has some guilt over that. He NEEDED to know Leon would be safe, so he discreetly hired someone from within the Blood Knight Order to tail Leon and keep him out of harms way during his journey. That person was Serat, not a knight by any means but a man of many means, if that makes sense. Not someone Sig would normally trust but he was desperate. Sig quietly took most of the gold he’d been saving for that now-unnecessary grand wedding to pay for Leon’s protection - half the gold upfront, and the other half to be paid when Leon was returned to him alive and safe. It was VERY important that Leon never know Serat’s true purpose - Leon had to believe he was in full control of his own wellbeing.

So, Leon left Light’s Hope and made the long trip to the gathering place. Along the way he met several different priests, many recalling similar dreams and strange feelings as Leon had. Serat decided the easiest way to protect Leon was to pose as a fellow priest and gain his trust as they traveled. This seemingly simple adventure eventually led Leon to Netherlight Temple and his first meeting with a real naaru - which was unfortunately corrupted, seemingly beyond redemption. Witnessing/minorly participating in the naaru’s purification helped Leon reaffirm his dedication to the Light and renew his passion for not only healing the wounded, but reversing corruption.

Seratmade it all the way inside Netherlight before backing off to more subtle surveillance methods, in part because huge space windchimes and shadow priests scared him a bit. Leon eventually does figure out that Serat was sent to watch him and he was NOT HAPPY.

Netherlight is also where Leon ran into Kethas again, a fellow elven priest he knew before the scourge invasion destroyed silvermoon. In the years since they last spoke Kethas had been through his own share of troubles, the most obvious being that he had been afflicted by the worgen curse. Leon is still afraid of wolves after what happened during the Siege of Orgrimmar, so that was a super fun reunion for them. Huge wolf wearing robes and speaking thalassian at him was the last thing Leon ever wanted to deal with. Despite their differences they somehow got onto neutral terms at least.

Leon stayed at the temple for a long time learning many new things from many priests (and a naaru wowee) and honing his healing powers. His goal was to be strong enough in the Light to heal and repell the invasive, naturally corrupting powers of the Legion. This was very important to Leon, especially considering Sig’s past struggles with corruption.

Leon did not expect the Legion itself to come crashing into the temple. He definitely did not expect Sig and the collective Silver Hand to come charging in and basically save the day. He also did not expect to ever see a Light-redeemed demon. It was a very big day for Leon lol.

Leon was extremely happy to be reunited with his husband but he was definitely angry about Serat. Sig had a looot of explaining to do when they got home, but fortunately he didn’t lose all his gold to Serat after all. The agreement between them explicitly stated that Serat MUST keep his true purpose from Leon, which he obviously failed at. The agreement also stated that Serat was make sure Leon got home alive and safe before receiving the second half of his payment, but thanks to the unforeseen temple invasion it was Sig himself who fulfilled that part of the deal. Serat wasn’t happy about any of this but it was hard for him to argue otherwise. At least he got the first half of his payment, but you can bet Leon wasn’t happy when he learned what money Sig dipped into. Things were weird in the hall for a while.

Since the Netherlight invasion Leon spends most of his time at Light’s Hope where he continues to study and strengthen his abilities. To Leon, the huge purified demon sitting at the command table is a constant reminder that he’s on the right path.

In the meantime Sig is becoming more confident in his role and starting to appreciate the Ashbringer a lot more than he did before. He is getting bolder asking the Order leaders to let him fight more, and while some at the command table appreciate his conviction, he still isn’t given much freedom.

Very soon Leon will travel to Netherlight again, but this time Sig asks him directly if he can send someone to protect him. Leon still isn’t happy about what happened last time but admits having a bodyguard isn’t such a bad idea when the Legion can appear anywhere at any moment (even in a holy temple gosh). Leon requests that Serat accompany him again, much to Sig’s surprise. Having a big knight at his side all the time is fine when it’s his husband, but otherwise it’s not the sort of protection Leon prefers. He’d rather have someone capable but not so obvious, maybe even someone like a friend. As much as Leon hated being watched, he never thought ill of Serat as a person and actually thought he was interesting to talk to at least.

Sig is more aware of his rank within the hall nowadays. He has no power over the Orders themselves but he definitely has the authority to assign basic tasks to those beneath him, and Sig is happy to order Serat to go with Leon. No down payments lol. Serat’s own role within the Order and within the hall is shaky at best these days so he is not in a position to refuse.

I’m not sure when Leon and Serat will depart for the temple because Leon’s birthday is next week so maybe I’ll wait till after.

There’s a ton of other garbage that happens inbetween all this stuff but YEAH that’s what’s been up with Sig and Leon over the past few months :V

A familiar shade of hair peeks out from under some blankets and appears much cleaner upon immediate glance than what the group first encountered. Lacie sleeps quietly with her back towards the group, undisturbed by the faint amount of light in the room.

She recoils as far back as possible into the wall and bangs her head on it. She wakes up immediately at least but has trouble bringing her arms to the back of her head. Her arms, noteably, are indeed arms, rather than blades. They appear obviously prosthetic, but move regardless.

The night before we left this city the first time, I met with Aneris and talked about bringing Lacie back. She was the one who suggested going to a priest and even went as far as offering to pay for her revival. It's not like it's the first time she's ever done a nice thing, but you saw how she kind of got along with Lacie anyway. Is it that hard to believe? He reverted back to telepathy. Something like this was definitely easier to say out of range of the elf's ears.

Without wasting time and giving no chance for negotiation, he pulled Zarek closer and lowered his voice. “You see, what you need to do is build up points with her through fighting. Take some mercenary jobs - that will do the trick! Then later, after a long day of working together, camp out alone in a cave or something and make your move. You have to say something romantic!” He cleared his throat before doing an obscure impression of Zarek’s voice, “ After this is all over, let’s keep fighting alongside eachother - just the two of us. ” +wink. He released him to gain some space just to gesture in emphasis - “That’s when you make your move! You’ve got to kiss her!! And what happens next will come naturally, hehe..” He nodded to himself proudly just imagining it.

Ethis said he was in contact with that girl he mentioned, after all. I don’t think he’d suddenly betray her. It might make things harder on us, but it’s not something we won’t be able to overcome.
