And Ladybug can be the result of random ladybugs landing on the earrings. Nothing about her personality changes, but her mask has the correct number of spots for each bug.
AU where Adrien Agreste isn't Chat Noir. A random cat that wears the ring on its tail is. Chat Noir looks exactly the same as canon.

17 year old watches MIRACULOUS LADYBUG: ZOMBIZOU
Hey it’s Dana!
As you can tell from the title I’m obviously 17 and today I’ve decided to watch the Miraculous Ladybug episode Zombizou (admittedly not the first time I’ve watched Miraculous) because this episode is about zombies and I LOVE ZOMBIES.
Horror movies in general are great and usually when a series decides to do a horror themed episode I’m sitting there ready to watch, but zombie movies are arguably superior (don’t @ me).
However, I am a tad bit sceptical about a kids show doing a zombie themed episode because obviously they won’t kill anyone - RIGHT!?!
And also how are they going to transfer the infection? Are these children going to go around biting each other???? Not gonna lie, if they do, that’ll be a dark twist I’m ready for.
This probably won’t happen because Huffinton post does recommend it towards 6 - 15 year olds so…
Tumblr media
Anyway, read on for my reaction to Miraculous Ladybug Zombizou…
Tumblr media
Lol, okay, so we’re not into the episode yet but I paused the screen at this moment and it looked kinda funny so I thought I’d just share.
Tumblr media
So while I see why everyone’s so annoyed about Chloe forgetting Ms Bustier’s birthday it just doesn’t really matter. Most teachers don’t really care about all their students remembering their birthdays and most students either don’t know when their teachers birthday is or they don’t even bring it up (at least that’s what happened in my student experience lol, I don’t know about the rest of you).
Also, everyone does know about Chloe’s issues with her parents so they have to understand that she has a habbit of forgetting special occassions or showing sentimentality.
ALSO, there’s bound to be someone else in the class who’s forgotten Ms Bustier’s present - not just Chloe. Why aren’t they ganging up on them? Like what about Adrien? What did he get her with all that money he has stored up?? Huh???
#ChloeBourgeoiseDefenceSquad
Tumblr media
Okay…so I’ve got to admit that was a bit rude of Chloe to do, but what do you expect when everyone constantly mocks her for not getting Ms Bustier a present? I’m just surprised she never did anything like this on Ms Bustier’s previous birthdays.
#StillChloeBourgeoiseDefenceSquad
Tumblr media
On a side note: Ms Bustier is an absolute angel! Seriously, I don’t know how this woman manages to keep her patience teaching these hormonal 14 year olds every day while some deranged butterfly akumatises them on the daily.
On an extra side note: Ms Bustier is so pretty! Why doesn’t she have a boyfriend? (or a girlfriend?) She seriously has everything going for her: patience, love, support, good-looks, good with children…
Tumblr media
How does Marinette manage to keep up her hobby of fashion, save Paris, get her schoolwork done, WHILE being the Class Representative? I can’t even handle just my A Levels and she’s out there doing all of this at 14??? What is this wizardry???
Also, I kinda hope Marinette gets akumatised because that would just make it so much more harder to get rid of the zombies.
Okay, so if I were Marinette I would have just transformed into Ladybug when the akuma was coming after her and Ms Bustier. She can obviously trust Ms Bustier to keep her secret and it may even help when she needs to miss class or get extensions on her homework or even cover for her when she needs an adult to do stuff…Then, Ms Bustier wouldn’t have been akumatised!
Tumblr media
Wow Ivan truly deserves better! He is such a little sweetheart for offering to hold Mylene and Sabrina back while everyone else runs off to safety. BUT - look at Adrien over here doing absolutely NOTHING! I know that there’s a rule that they shouldn’t let anyone else know their secret identities but sometimes there should be exceptions - like in this situation.
Like with Marinette and Ms Bustier earlier, if Adrien just transformed maybe even in the classroom when Zombizou first broke in then he could have saved Sabrina, Mylene, and Ivan. Then he could have easily guided everyone to safety without thinking about when and where he should transform.
Tumblr media
Lol, don’t lie Marinette, you secretly liked that…
I do like the whole “is anybody here?” thing with Ladybug going through the school trying to find survivors like a real zombie movie.
Tumblr media
Smooth, Adrien, smooth…
I love how Adrien attempts to take advantage of the situation to kiss Ladybug! At least he tried; it was worth a go.
However, it does lead me to wonder what would happen if he actually did land a kiss, making Ladybug believe she’s infected. But then he has to explain to her that he’s actually not zombie-fied. That would be quite awkward.
Also he just looks so extra and in love in this photo!
Lol, also Alya blaming Chloe for why Adrien got kissed is actually quite funny. I don’t know why but it just felt as though Alya just wants another reason to hate on Chloe. #ChloeProtectionSquad.
Tumblr media
Awwwwww look at that little back hug! That is actually just the cutest thing I’ve ever seen in my life! Mylene and Ivan are just so cute together!
Tumblr media
This is quite a cool shot with all the survivors being on the roof, waiting for their leader (Ladybug) to tell them what to do next. It’s such a zombie movie trope!
Kim looks like he’s just seen his whole life pass before his eyes and he’s determined to do something heroic (such as possibly sacrificing his life for his friends).
Max, Nino, and Alix look like they’ve given up.
Alya and Ladybug look like the leader and the co-leader discussing what they need to do to get out (and possibly what sacrifices they need to make).
Juleka and Rose look like The Couple! Omg they are just as cute as Ivan and Mylene! If anything happens to them I will give Chloe up to Zombizou myself! (Sorry not sorry, Chloe).
Finally, Chloe looks like that one person everyone hates in the group. Those types of survivors in zombie movies usually come into a stable group (mostly by being saved) and then mess everything up. They’re usually the one who *accidently* gets everyone killed and then survives at the end! We hate those types of people…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, if I were Zombizou I would just send my kisses off into Paris to just try and catch people. Her kisses are a lot faster and can reach high places, unlike her zombies, and the gang is on the roof so they’re basically sitting ducks for her kisses.
Tumblr media
Here it comes; this is the point in the trope when one by one everyone decides to be heroic and make a sacrifice to save the-last-hope/main-objective/the-key-t0-the-end-of-the-virus (aka Chloe). While I think it was quite heroic for Max to hold back the zombie’s and for Rose to go out and save Chloe, Chat Noir and Ladybug could have easily done that themselves without getting kissed!
I just feel like this episode has underused and underemphasises (is that a word?) their powers to make their classmates seem more heroic. On one hand that is good for character development but I do feel as though they could have done that in a different way.
For example, they could have had Ladybug and Chat Noir possibly kidnapped by Zombizou or something like that (basically the heroes aren’t there to help them) but they all know, possibly from a transmission from Ladybug, that they need to safely get Chloe from the school to some checkpoint. Then, on the way, each classmate makes their own heroic sacrifice until finally it is just Chloe at the checkpoint (possibly just with Alya because Alya hates her so much) and they use Chloe as bait (willingly, of course) while Alya frees Ladybug and Chat Noir and they save the day.
Just a thought :)
Tumblr media
Firstly, Rose and Juleka are so cute together and basically act like a couple so why can’t they just make it official????
Secondly, omg the hiding-the-bite trope!!! Ahhhh! I usually hate these people and just hope they die already BUT, in this circumstance when it’s my sweet little Rose who risked her life to safe Chloe, I just feel bad for her AND for Juleka.
Tumblr media
Okay do you see those hands??? That is not how you hold a friend, just saying…
Tumblr media
This was quite an emotional scene and just makes me love Nino so much more! The fact that he decided to stay with her, trusting that Ladybug and Chat Noir would fix everything but also not completely knowing that they will, just shows how he’s such a reliable and loving guy. I would seriously trust Nino with my life; why can’t he be my boyfriend????
I’ve never been such a big fan of Alya as a good friend to Marinette but I feel as though Alya and Nino together is much more better. But that may just be because Nino’s such a sweet boy who loves his girlfriend and his friends so much and deserves so much love back. #NinoProtectionSquad.
Tumblr media
I feel really bad for Ladybug! She’s only 14!!!!!! And she has all these people relying and trusting in her to fix everything. It must be so traumatic for her!
Since it’s a kids show they obviously won’t venture into how traumatic all these experiences (watching all of her friends become zombie-fied) are for Marinette but I can’t help but ponder on how messed up her brain is.
Although she may fix everything with her Miraculous Ladybug, it’s only the exterior that is fixed - not the trauma.
It does cause some people to forget what happened, only she (and Chat Noir of course) know what really happened.
Do you ever think they get nightmares about these things? Because they’re seriously just 14 year olds with the weight and order of the world resting in their hands, which is quite a parallel to the power rangers (and they’re probably all messed up in the head as well).
Tumblr media
That was quite redeeming of Chloe to sacrifice herself for Ladybug. Yes, you go girl! #ChloeRedemptionSquad!
Tumblr media
Hawkmoth was a bit stupid for making her central power the lipstick because it does easily rub off after a long day of terrorising the Paris…so this ending did seem a bit anti-climactic because it was just make-up remover. Make-up remover, really? After all your classmates sacrifice themselves, all you needed was some make-up remover???
Tumblr media
This is really cute and seems like a mother-daughter type of interaction. And we do know that Chloe’s parents are practically absent so what I’m saying is - what if Ms Bustier just adopts Chloe??? #ChloeAdoptionSquad.
Tumblr media
Okay, that was really cute. Although Chloe didn’t apologise to the rest of the class, she finally decided to make an effort and get something for Ms Bustier. I also love how she didn’t tell anyone because that is quite humble of her but Marinette and Alya did see her so that does make her look better in their eyes. Yay #ChloeRedemptionSquad!
Tumblr media
Overall, the episode was really interesting and did seem like a zombie-type movie (especially if it was longer *cough* *cough* Miraculous Ladybug: The Movie *cough* *cough*). The end was quite annoying with Ladybug defeating Zombiezou with just makeup but the ending did redeem itself by having Chloe also redeem herself.
What other episodes of Miraculous Ladybug should I watch next???

Ladybug and Chat Noir for K please?
(on the edge of consciousness, for this ask meme) (also on ao3!)
Marinette’s tried not to fall asleep transformed, and she’s been mostly successful.
It’s not like she wants to go ahead and take a nap during a battle, after all, and right after one- okay, she might want to right after one, but their timers mean that’s a definite no.
The only time it would ever be a possibility is on patrol, and finding somewhere to sleep instead would not only defeat the point of patrolling, it would leave her vulnerable in a way she doesn’t like.   She knows she’s a heavy sleeper and she’s not sure that the magic in their Miraculous can counteract that.
So no matter how tired she might be, she doesn’t sleep without detransforming first.
She’s never even thought to ask Chat Noir if he does the same.  She knows he can be less cautious than her (she’s joined him on enough dares that she can’t entirely lay claim to caution for herself, but he’s definitely worse), but she still hadn’t thought he’d risk sleeping as Chat Noir.
She wants to say ‘and out in the open,’ but he isn’t, exactly.
Though the tiny grove of trees he’s tucked himself into certainly wouldn’t be enough protection for her peace of mind.
She’d stumbled over him, literally, while exploring- while patrolling the park herself.  They’re well away from the main paths and between the way the tree’s branches hang nearly to the ground and the way Chat Noir’s curled himself up tightly between the roots of the largest of the trees he’s all but invisible.
The way he blends so easily into the dark doesn’t hurt, either.  Even she’d only picked up on the glint of his tail buckle.  The way he’s packed himself into a tight ball, tail wrapped around him like a real cat, hides even his bell from view.
It’s very late.  It’s later than Marinette would normally patrol alone at all, and it’s cold for this time of year, and she knows that Chat Noir always wants to keep patrolling long past when Marinette herself would have gone home but she’d still assumed he was going home.
And that defensive curl makes her uneasy.  She’s never seen that from him before.
Marinette doesn’t actually think about crossing over to sit down beside him.   She’s running a hand over the broad expanse of his back before she’s even figured out how or when she got to his side, watching as his ears flick and he comes to life at all once.
He doesn’t move, though. Not really.  Instead Chat Noir freezes for a moment, trembling in place as his ears swivel towards her and he sniffs once.
She wonders if he always shows more cat traits when he’s just waking up.  She wonders if that has anything to do with why he’s sleeping out in this hidden corner of the park.
She knows the moment he knows it’s her, because he relaxes all at once and lets out a heavy sigh that rumbles into a purr near the end.  "My lady.“
"Hey, minou,” she returns, forcing more amusement into her voice than she actually feels.  "Weird place for a catnap.“
He doesn’t answer her.  As soon as he heard her voice, he shrugged himself more comfortably into her hand on his back, tucked his tail against his chest so that the only metal that could possibly glint and give him away was on his ears, and went back to sleep.
Marinette’s a lot more worried now.
But for Chat to so easily fall back asleep means he must be exhausted.  She doesn’t want to wake him unless she has to, not even for answers, not when he only barely woke at her touch.
She doesn’t think he ever even opened his eyes.
She moves, wincing at the sleepy whine that pulls from her partner.  She checks, but he’s not any more awake than he was before- his eyes are the barest bit slitted now, but if he truly woke at all he drifted off again immediately.
She runs through the day in her head, but it’s been quiet, at least as far as their job goes.  There haven’t been any akuma today, though Marinette had seen a couple close calls before she or someone else had intervened.  It’s a relief that most of her class has caught on by now that if they can cheer someone up quick enough they can prevent an akuma successfully latching on.  Not surprisingly, Rose and Adrien are the best at it, but Nino and Alix and Mylene have all gotten good about knowing how and when to intervene too.  Alya tries, but her timing tends to be slightly off, so she’s better at helping Nino than she is at catching someone’s mood herself.
It’s saved Marinette a lot of stress recently.
She’d have thought it might be doing the same for Chat Noir.
Today has been kind of weird.  There’s some kind of bug going around, so it feels like half the class is taking turns being sick at any given time, and no one’s seen Adrien in days- Nino had thought that he was sick too, especially since Nino had been one of the first people both to catch it and to recover, but then he’d heard from the Gorilla that Adrien had been in photo shoots the whole time.
That the Gorilla both has and uses Nino’s number is a surprise to everyone else.
That they have to keep an eye on Nino for the rest of the day so that he doesn’t get akumatised is… less of a surprise. He’s not exactly quiet about his opinions on Adrien being pulled for a days long shoot with no warning, and Mylene’s suggestion that maybe Adrien’s father is just trying to avoid Adrien getting sick doesn’t do a lot to help.
It does enough to avoid a butterfly, though.  Barely.
Between so much of the class falling ill, Chloé declaring that she’s not attending class until everyone quits sneezing and coughing everywhere, and Lila’s sudden suspiciously-timed impromptu vacation out of the country most of their teachers had given up on teaching for the day.   Mme. Mendeliev had tried, but it had quickly become apparent that uncontrollable sneezing and open flames did not mix well, so even her lesson had been put on hold in favour of a video.
Resettling herself closer to Chat Noir and resting her whole arm across his back this time, Marinette frets as he sighs again and presses into her.  She’s been unaffected enough that she’d given in and asked Tikki if her Miraculous insulated her from illnesses, and after a lot of dancing around the subject Tikki had admitted that the Ladybug Miraculous could help prevent less serious illnesses.
"It won’t always help,” Tikki had warned her, perching on her pillow and looking up at her with anxious eyes.  "You can’t rely on it, Marinette, it won’t always work.   That’s why I didn’t tell you.“
"I won’t, Tikki,” Marinette had promised back, cupping her hands around her kwami and bringing her close.  "I was just curious.  It’s good to know that Chat Noir and I have some resistance, at least.“
Looking back, Tikki had hesitated at that.  Looking back, Tikki had never said anything about the Black Cat Miraculous at all.
Chat Noir sniffles in his sleep before nestling closer to her.
Marinette sighs and resigns herself to keeping watch for him for the rest of the night.  She’s not going to ask him what he’s doing out here, but she’s definitely going to scold him for sleeping outside when she’s increasingly sure he’s caught the same thing that’s been going around recently.  He should be resting in a warm bed somewhere, not out here hiding in the trees.
But he is hiding.  She’s sure of that.  He’s also clearly not hiding from her, and she can’t ask him what he is hiding from, but it sends a terrible shiver through her that he felt the need to hide before he could rest at all.
If he’s that wary, he’s likely to get a much better rest if she stays with him.
At least, that’s what Marinette reasons with herself as she makes herself comfortable and waits for dawn, leaning into the soothing warmth of her partner’s side and wilfully ignoring Tikki’s warning that her Miraculous’ protection isn’t foolproof.
(Marinette’s the next of their class to fall ill, but she can’t regret staying).

Hold Me By Both Hands: Chapter 29
Disclaimer: I don’t own ML.
Chapter 28 | Chapter 30 | AO3 link
“– rinette! Marinette!”
“Hmm?” Marinette is forcibly yanked out of her thoughts by Alya’s snapping fingers in front of her face.
“Finally!” Alya says. “You didn’t hear a word of my rant about Mr Alternative News blogger. Man, wherever you were just now, you gotta take me there too.”
“I wasn’t anywhere. I was just…thinking.” About her date with Chat Noir. But Alya doesn’t need to know that.
“Mhm. If you say so.”
“It looked like you were halfway across the solar system!” Lila says. Why she’s here, Marinette has no clue, but either Rose or Juleka or Alix or Mylène had invited her along to their Saturday hangout at the Louvre, and it’s not like Marinette and Alya can refuse to include her without getting labelled raging bitches.
“I really am fine,” Marinette says. “I’ve just had a lot on my mind lately.”
“Like your crush on Chat Noir,” Alix teases. Marinette’s cheeks start to boil.
“What? No!” Had someone seen them on their date? No, of course not, the girls already know she’s crushing on Chat Noir.
“That’s so cute!” Rose says.
“If you two get together, tell me!” Mylène says with a mischievous smile. “I want to be sure I win a bet against Ivan, since our Adrienette one was a bust.”
“Mylène! You cheater!” Juleka says. Mylène’s cheeks pinken.
“What?” she says. “I just…have inside information.”
“I hate you all,” Marinette mutters. “And even if I did get together with him – which is not happening –” Lies, but necessary. “– why would I tell anyone? He’s a superhero. I’m a civilian. Hawkmoth would love that.”
“True, true.” Alya raises her hand, like she’s going to clutch at her chest, but then aborts that movement and lowers her hand. Marinette resists the urge to smirk, since she’s not supposed to know that Alya is Rena Rouge and wearing the Miraculous under her shirt.
“You and Chat Noir would make the cutest couple!” Lila coos. “It sucks that I wasn’t here for the Adrienette hype!”
“Does everyone call us that?” Marinette throws her hands in the air. “What are we, fictional characters?”
Before anyone can reply, Rose and Juleka scream. The reason for this becomes apparent when they try to jump away from each other but can’t due to literally being attached at the hip, with Rose’s pink dress melting into Juleka’s black one.
“What the –?” Marinette leaps away from them, immediately scanning her surroundings for any sign of the perpetrator. “Akuma!”
“Where?” Lila immediately leaps behind Alya.
“Alya Césaire!” An orange blur soars off a building and lands in front of Alya. “You think the Ladyblogger can compete with Faux News?”
“Faux – wait, Lars?” Alya’s eyes bulge. “Lars Vos? The Alternative News dipshit?”
The orange man – Faux News – snarls at Alya. He’s…a fox. Or, to be more accurate, a guy in a fox costume, just like Rena Rouge. Unlike Rena Rouge, however, his orange suit is skin-tight, with a white torso and white down his inner upper arms and thighs. He also has short, chunky black gloves and boots, an orange and white bushy tail that looks like it sprouts out of the back of his suit, thick black rings around his grey eyes, and short fox ears poking out of his pale blond hair. Also unlike a Fox superhero is the lack of flute on his back and, instead of a Miraculous around his neck, there’s a little black cravat like a high collar. It’s like someone had tried to create a Fox wielder but left out just enough that it feels…wrong.
“You think you’re the best just because your little blog’s so popular?” Faux News growls.
“Uh, no,” Alya says. “I think I’m the best because unlike you, I actually get my own footage. I don’t jack it from someone else and then whine that it’s shitty quality.”
“At least I don’t harass people for the fun of it!” Faux News says.
“Harass you? How? All I did was leave a comment asking you to shut the fuck up and stop taking jabs at me for actually doing my job! And at least I post the truth!”
“What the heck did you do to Rose and Juleka?” Marinette demands. Oh, how she wishes she could get away to transform, but she’s right next to Alya and Faux News will most definitely notice her trying to slip away.
“I guess they’re just such good soulmates that they’re joined at the hip,” Faux News shrugs.
“You’re twisting reality!” Lila gasps. “Faux News! Alternative News!”
Faux News’ grin is more like a shark’s than a fox’s. “Exactly. Whatever I say is true! And I think that little girls such as yourself should be seen and not heard.”
Lila opens her mouth to say something else…but no sound escapes her. Her eyes widen and she once again tries to speak but again, she can’t. While Faux News is distracted by Lila’s predicament, Marinette grabs Alya by the hand and hightails it the hell out of there before he can remember that they exist.
“Marinette!” Alya tries to yank herself free. “You can’t – I need to –”
“Césaire!” Faux News bellows. Marinette ducks into the first store she encounters.
“Go and hide!” she hisses to Alya. “I’ll go and see if I can find Ladybug and Chat Noir!”
“But what if he gets you?” Alya says, grabbing her upper arms.
“It’s not me he’s after,” Marinette says. “I’ll be fine! Just go and hide!”
Alya bites her lip and her eyes flick down to her own chest for a split second. Then she nods and pushes Marinette away before weaving through the racks of clothes in the direction of the changing rooms. Reassured that her best friend is now able to transform and is therefore safe from Faux News’ hunt for Alya Césaire, Marinette barrels out of the store and down an alleyway to transform.
“Tikki, spots on!”
.
“Chat Noir! Down here!”
At the sound of his name, Chat Noir automatically leaps off the rooftop to the street below. Ladybug’s waving at him from inside a store, and he takes a quick look around before sprinting inside.
“What the hell kind of an akuma is this?” Chat Noir says as Ladybug shuts the door behind him and beckons him further into the store, away from the windows. “Some guy was barking up a tree! Literally! And a woman tried to talk my ear off about how climate change wasn’t real!”
Ladybug snorts. “His name’s Faux News and he can warp reality. He attached R – uh, two girls at the hip because they were “soulmates” and he took another’s voice because “little girls should be seen and not heard”.”
Chat Noir wrinkles his nose. Ick. One of those people.
“It’s my fault.” Rena Rouge emerges from one of the changing rooms. “He’s this Alternative News blogger who I told off for not telling the truth.”
“And for taking cheap shots at you,” Ladybug says.
“Yeah but –”
“Hey. We talked about this when I found you in here, remember? You’re not responsible for his akumatisation. Hawkmoth is. And if he hadn’t been targeting you and your blog, you wouldn’t have attacked him.”
“I still might have,” Rena Rouge says. “If he reckons he’s a “real journalist”, he can’t go around telling lies. I mean, saying that you hate cats? All we need is for one person to grab that lie and blow it up, especially because he had no sources!”
“I don’t think that’s the point right now,” Chat Noir says. “How powerful is Faux News? Can he just take our Miraculouses with his powers by making it the truth?”
Ladybug purses her lips. “I’m not sure. And I’m kind of hesitant about finding out. But we can’t just sit in here forever.”
“He might not be able to just will them to him like that,” Rena Rouge says. “Otherwise, Hawkmoth would’ve made an akuma like that ages ago. Every akuma you’ve faced with control over something has had to brainwash you, but they still didn’t figure out who you were or get you to reveal yourselves. Like Dark Cupid, remember? He totally could’ve made Chat Noir take the ring off. But he didn’t.”
“Hmm,” Ladybug says. “You know…I think you’re on to something. Wait here.” She ducks into the changing room and there’s a bright flash of pink light as she detransforms. Chat Noir and Rena Rouge exchange awkward grins as Ladybug talks to her kwami in a hushed voice, both very much aware that all they’d have to do is slam the door open to see who’s behind the red and black spotted mask, and then Ladybug’s once again transformed and is pulling the stall door open.
“Tikki says that part of the Miraculous magic means that we can’t compel each other to give them up,” Ladybug says. “If we get immobilised or brainwashed into standing still or whatever and they physically take them off us, sure. But an akuma can’t force us to take them off ourselves or to reveal our identities if we’re transformed. The only one of us who could directly affect a Miraculous is Chat Noir with his Cataclysm, but then it’d take my Miraculous Ladybug to fix it. And Tikki says that the Butterfly can akumatise a Miraculous, but it still can’t make that person reveal themselves unless they want to. Hawkmoth’s kwami must have told him all this because Rena Rouge is right: he would’ve made an akuma like this one ages ago if that worked.”
“That also means that you can’t just Lucky Charm Hawkmoth’s Miraculous straight off him,” Rena Rouge says. “Aww, man. But that’s a relief, knowing that Faux News can’t make us give our Miraculouses to him.”
“And we also can’t be exposed through, say, mind-reading akumas,” Ladybug says. “Although there’s nothing stopping a brainwashing akuma from forcing us to physically out ourselves by, you know, outright saying who everyone else is or ordering all Miraculous holders to come to them, which is why I’m so insistent that Chat Noir and I don’t reveal our identities. It would be bad if Hawkmoth learned who Rena Rouge was, yeah, but figuring out me or Chat Noir would be a disaster.”
“My life would be over if Hawkmoth knew who I was.” Chat Noir closes his fingers around his ring, as though this is enough to shield it from Hawkmoth’s greed. “Now that I’ve had this taste of freedom…”
“Well, Hawkmoth won’t figure out who any of us are,” Ladybug says firmly. She rests a hand on his shoulder and squeezes, and soft warmth seems to radiate from her hand through Chat Noir’s suit. “Anyway, come on. We have to stop Faux News!”
To find Faux News, all they have to do is follow the trail of sheer chaos throughout the city, from a group of floating men shouting about defying the laws of gravity, to a child who’s screaming and running away from a life-size, nightmarish teddy bear.
“This is sick,” Ladybug growls once Chat Noir’s torn the bear apart with his claws and Rena Rouge is comforting the little girl. “He can make anything a reality and he does that?”
“I told you he was an arse,” Rena Rouge says. She pats the girl on the head and directs her to hide in the nearest building, then turns to Ladybug and Chat Noir with her arms crossed. “I just didn’t know he was this much of one.”
“Ladybug! Chat Noir! Over here!”
Chat Noir whirls around, raising his staff. The speaker is a middle-aged man who’s got his phone trained on them and a wicked gleam in his eye.
“That’s it!” the man says. “Only the best footage for Faux News!”
“Uh, excuse me?” Rena Rouge says. “Faux – uh, Alternative News is shit. Everyone knows the Ladyblog –”
“Ladyblog? What’s the Ladyblog?” the man says. Rena Rouge’s eyes widen.
“No,” she breathes. She yanks her flute off her back and swipes to extend a little screen out of the end, just like with Chat Noir’s baton. “Are you fucking kidding me? That son of a bitch – all that work –”
“What happened?” Ladybug says. A fuming Rena Rouge thrusts her flute out at them to show her search results for the Ladyblog…which is nothing. Well, there’s technically one result, but when Chat Noir taps it, it brings up an extremely poor-quality webpage with one pixelated, clearly amateur video. In contrast, when Rena Rouge takes her flute back to search for Faux News and shows Ladybug and Chat Noir again, they’re taken to a crisp, professional webpage with scores of posts and videos and comments.
“That – he stole my work!” Rena Rouge’s eyes fill with tears. Thankfully, the man nearby doesn’t hear, or it would be bye-bye Rena Rouge and her secret identity. “All that effort – I’ve put so much work in – and he just – he just spoke a few fancy words and now I’m the amateur knock-off! He even stole my superhero look!”
“Hey.” Ladybug grabs Rena Rouge by the biceps and squeezes gently. “We’ll take care of it, okay? We’ll defeat Faux News and the Ladyblog will go back to normal.”
“What milady said,” Chat Noir agrees. “Like we’re gonna let some ugly Rena knock-off win. Hawkmoth deserves our Miraculouses if we lose to this guy.”
Rena Rouge snorts and wipes her eyes, even though her mask conceals any traces of tears. “Thanks, guys. I just…god, I can’t stand people who steal others’ work.”
“You hear that?” Chat Noir calls at the recording man. “Faux News is going down like the fake he is!”
The man’s jovial smile darkens into a horrific scowl. Before any of them can react, he’s scurrying off down the street and around the corner.
“Well,” Ladybug says. “I can’t say that was the smartest move, but at least now we can find Faux News, assuming that guy’s gone to tattle. Let’s go!”
Faux News does turn out to be in the next street over, with the tattletale man next to him and at least a hundred other people who don’t seem to be affected just yet. Of course, ‘don’t seem to be’ isn’t the same as ‘aren’t’, as they demonstrate moments later by turning around and staring straight at the superheroes like one many-headed, many-limbed being.
“Don’t worry!” Chat Noir puffs himself up. Time to show Faux News who’s boss! “We’ll save you –”
“It’s them! The criminals!” A woman points at Ladybug, Chat Noir, and Rena Rouge. “They’re trying to destroy the mighty Faux News and Hawkmoth!”
“Ah,” Rena Rouge says. “When we figured out that he could bend reality, we should have suspected he’d do this.”
“Go and spread the word, my loyal fans!” Faux News announces, and half of the crowd around him starts to scatter in all directions. “I bestow the gift of gospel upon you all!”
“Gospel?” Chat Noir scoffs. “This guy’s pretty up himself.”
“Uh, yeah,” Rena Rouge says. “It’s not like I just told you that before.”
Ladybug frowns. “He’s making them go and twist reality to make others believe that we’re the bad guys? Does that mean that he can only directly affect his surroundings, and he has to imbue his minions with the power to twist the truth for others?”
“What about the Ladyblog thing, then?” Rena Rouge says.
“With a phone or something connected to the internet, it’d technically be in his surroundings,” Ladybug says slowly. “We have to keep him occupied to limit the damage!”
“That’s something we can definitely do, milady,” Chat Noir grins, then hefts his baton and shakes it to its full length. “Hey, Rena, wanna legally beat the shit out of this guy and not get in any trouble for it?”
“Chat!” Ladybug protests, but even she doesn’t say anything when Rena Rouge’s eyes start to gleam rather terrifyingly.
“For truth and justice!” Rena Rouge bellows and charges at Faux News, flute ready to strike. She’s met with a wall of brainwashed bystanders forming a shield around Faux News, but this doesn’t curb her enthusiasm one bit.
“Hey, that should be our catchphrase!” Chat Noir says. Ladybug rolls her eyes while simultaneously taking out two minions at once with a flick of her yo-yo.
“We are not having a catchphrase, you silly cat!” she says.
“Aww but why not?” Chat Noir throws his staff at a minion creeping up on Ladybug, then deftly dodges one behind him, kicks her to the ground by her back, and rolls under another minion’s outstretched arms to retrieve his weapon.
“There’s too many of them!” Ladybug says. “And Rena’s too angry to focus on a proper Mirage!”
“You no-good fake!” Rena Rouge shrieks in the background, inadvertently confirming Ladybug’s assessment. “Stop hiding behind your little fans and face me like a proper fox!”
“Rena, take a chill pill!” Chat Noir calls. Naturally, he’s ignored. “Okay, uh, maybe it wasn’t a good idea to let her take this one?”
“We should’ve made her sit it out,” Ladybug agrees while elbowing a young man in the solar plexus and dropping him like a sack of bricks. “Too personal. I think I’ll have to…Lucky Charm!” A little red and black candle falls into her hands.
“We’re gonna throw him a party?” Chat Noir says as he ducks to let two minions slam into each other in their haste to grab him.
“No…I can’t see what to use it for…” Ladybug frowns and turns on the spot, while Chat Noir covers her from the advancing minions and Rena Rouge continues to wreak havoc in her attempt to get to Faux News.
“Maybe you can smoke signal for help,” Chat Noir jokes. Ladybug’s eyes widen.
“Of course! I mean, it’s not ideal…I’d prefer not to throw them into a battle with no training…but we need a shield!”
“Rock, paper, scissors to see who goes?” Chat Noir says. Ladybug shakes her head.
“Not necessary. I trust you to pick the right ally. I need to stay here and keep Faux News from getting away and turning all of Paris against us…and keep an eye on Rena Rouge. It wouldn’t be a problem if she wasn’t so angry at this guy.”
Chat Noir winces when Rena Rouge bashes someone across the head with her flute. “Totally with you there, milady. I’ll be back. Try not to miss me too much!”
“Finally, a break from you!” Ladybug calls at him as he bounds away. He flips her off over his shoulder with a cheerful little smirk, then leaps up to a rooftop and turns his sights in the direction of Master Fu’s place.

The White Knight and His Queen Part 1
[AO3] [Part 2]
Gradually, he blinks away the blinding white from his vision, feeling disoriented, a tad nauseous, and strangely drained of all the stress that he had built up when he had his arms around Marinette’s shoulders. He feels cold hard asphalt pressed against his cheek, and a sharp throb from his left temple, as though someone had beat him over the head.
The realisation that he has no idea how he ended up where he is dawns slower than it should. He pushes himself up, vision clearing enough that he can see Marinette across from him, also sprawled out against the ground, looking just as dazed as he felt. In her hand is the hilt of the foil she had been carrying earlier, but the blade missing.
His breath stutters out as he finally comes to the realisation of what happened.
“Muh- Marinette? Did we, god, did I—?”
She seems to come to the same realisation quickly, looking between the hilt in her hand and something by his feet, her hand reaching up to nervously fiddle with her earrings. He flicks his eyes in the same direction and finally sees the blade, and a white butterfly delicately perched on its tip. Ladybug must have been here, but why did she leave? Did- did her timer run out, is she coming back, was she disappointed in him—
“Chat?”
He snaps his eyes towards the voice, Marinette gazing at him with concern. He knows distantly that he’s beginning to have a panic attack. All that stress that he thought was drained out of him, all that anxiety and frustration, it’s rushing back like a tidal wave and he’s struggling to keep his head above water—
“Kitty, kitty it’s okay.”
Marinette’s voice is soft and soothing, and her hand wraps around his clenched fist that’s grinding into the asphalt at his side. He tries to focus on the point of contact, a little startled by the familiarity of this despite never allowing himself to be this vulnerable in front of Marinette before.
“It’s alright, I’m right here. Can you breathe for me? Take a deep breath, okay? I’ll count it for you.”
He lets out a choked sob. Marinette squeezes his fist.
“Give me a deep breath through your nose, Chaton.”
He does.
“Hold it for one, two, three, four—”
She guides him through the breathing exercise. It feels like hours before he’s finally able to relax, and even then, his body feels jittery and heavy. Ladybug never came back, but Marinette stayed. He’s the hero, he should have been helping her, the civilian, but he—
“Kitty, look at me.”
His eyes instantly go up to look into hers. It’s the same beautiful shade of blue as Ladybug’s, with the same hypnotic twinkle and the same kindness. Marinette stares into his own for a moment, like she’s looking for something, and her brow crinkles as though she’s thinking hard. Just for a moment, her eyes flick to the small bag wrapped around her shoulder, hanging between them as she leans over him.
“I need to tell you something,” she says. “Just so you— because—”
She scowls and looks down, cheeks turning pink, clearly frustrated with herself and her difficulty with coherent speech. His mouth twitches a little into a smile. He knows whatever she has to say is obviously important, but right now he wants to latch onto a thought that isn’t so heavy. That thought just happens to be Marinette’s being cute again.
“I know what you’re thinking.”
Immediately his cheeks pinken, but then he realises she’s talking about what he was thinking previously. He flushes a bit more for his assumption. She doesn’t notice.
“I know you’re thinking that you’re the superhero, and you’re supposed to be better than this, and you must be angry at yourself and at Ladybug—”
“I’m not,” he coughs, clearing the gravel from his throat. “I’m not angry at Ladybug.”
She’s quiet for a moment, eyes focused down on the dirty ground between them. Slowly, she leans forward and presses her forehead against his chest.
“You should be.”
There’s a brief flare of anger at her statement, but he dismisses it in the wake of how vulnerable her voice sounds in that moment, almost self-deprecating. It’s confusing and he wants to understand, but he’s still shaky and his head feels like it’s full of cotton, so instead he unfurls his free hand and reaches out to hold her shoulders.
They’re right back to where they were in the beginning.
The silence drags on. There’s still no sign of Ladybug, and he gives up on hoping she’ll come back. He’s finally able to take in their surroundings more. A remote, dirty alleyway he doesn’t recognise, the sky orange and red as the sun begins the set. He doesn’t think it’s anywhere near the school or Marinette’s house.
“I’m,” Marinette voice cuts through the silence. She pauses to lick her lips, deep in thought. “What if I told you that... That Ladybug was akumatised, too?”
He blinks slowly at that, trying to process the sentence.
“What if I told you that she— That Ladybug knows exactly how you’re feeling, and she’s embarrassed and so, so disappointed in herself,” Marinette’s voice cracks, and she stops to take in a shaky breath, leaning away and turning her head to choke back tears. The hand she has wrapped around his fist is trembling.
The cogs in his mind start turning. It takes several minutes before Marinette continues.
“What if I told you that Ladybug has been sitting right here with you, the entire time, because she would never abandon you?”
Marinette’s voice is steady as she says that, head turning back to stare him in the eyes with a determination and conviction he knows he’s seen before.
“Because Ladybug and Chat Noir are partners. They rise together, they fall together, and I guess they... I guess they get akumatised together, huh?”
He lets out a wet laugh.
“Ma— My lady?”
She smiles, eyes shiny with unshed tears.
“Hi, kitty.”
He abandons all other thought as he gathers her into his arms and presses his head into the crook of her neck, laughing and crying all at the same time. One hand threads through her hair, undoing her pigtails, and the other holds firm around her waist, keeping her flat against his chest as he takes in that this is real, that she’s here. That’s she’s always been there, a constant in his life both in and out of the mask.
A dark purple pendant with light wings rests in place of the clenched fist Chat had against the ground, but both heroes are too busy to notice.

Tumblr media
This is Constance. She started as a magical girl and ended up as a French painter who uses crutches to walk. Constance - or Connie - is also a Miraculous Ladybug OC because, when I got on my Obsessive Bullshit, didn’t have the motivation to make another OC and I though “Underdeveloped magical girl? Sure, I can use this.”
She actually wasn’t supposed to use a wheelchair or crutches, but I read a fic with a disabled Marinette and I liked the idea so here we are.
She is also a fashion designer, that was there before Miraculous, and is a painter.
She has a harem and I am ashamed. I just really like harem fics lol.
Connie originally had twin tails and brown hair, but I liked the black hair better and wanted it down, though she probably ends up cutting it to her shoulders.
Idk why she’s so pale all my white girls are pale oops
She’s a quarter Chinese and three quarters French.
She has nice arms because of her crutches and pushing her wheelchair,
She’s a little religious, she likes to pray and carries a rosary, a gift from her mother.
Connie smokes, and it’s entirely Death’s Fault.
She’s a little fucked up I guess? She’s a kleptomaniac and (even though she’s technically disabled(?)) is often hired to break into old homes to steal shit. She fakes a panic disorder in canon to have a reason to be missing during Akuma attacks.
Constance has aquaphobia from nearly drowning because her parents were too busy arguing. Constance doesn’t like to speak to men out of fear and can be considered selectively mute and uses sign language.
Speaking of her parents, her mother is dead. Her father is in an asylum/prison for killing her. Her father went insane after her baby sister, Ambre, was a stillborn and he murdered her mother and beat her. She now lives with her older half-sisters Kara, Death, and later Verity. They are a part of a larger universe that I’ll explain in a later post. Her aunt also lives with her, but she doesn’t last long.
Constance also picked up schizophrenia and it is completely her father’s fault.
Constance shows signs of PTSD from watching her mother die and her father’s abuse.
Constance is a descendent of a Guardian that survived Feast, and has passive magic.
Personality- she’s flirty and denies it left and right, even though she flirts with everything that moves. She’s a manipulative asshole who uses tears to get what she wants, but is nowhere near as bad as Lila, and is vengeful, swearing to hunt Hawkmoth down for interrupting her flirting abusing the Miraculous. She’s protective and will not hesitate bitch try me Kagami. Better social skills than Adrien (no high road shit) but is apathetic to other’s feelings and only cares when she befriends them. She sugarcoats things but won’t hesitate to cut to the chase when she’s short on time or is just fed up. While she is manipulative, she does understand that being a bitch and hurting others will get you nowhere in life, and is quick to jump to the aid of her friends. She’s intelligent science and artistically wise, but not so much maths and people wise. Constance is secretive, knows she has to live another day and often doesn’t take risks unless absolutely necessary, and likes touch, holding hands or draping herself over others with their consent. Religious but only really prays because it makes her feel better, she does believe in God but not in Heaven or Hell. She really hates pushy guys and people who touch her without permission. She's really creative and wakes up in the middle of night to start a painting or a sketch.
Constance is taken in by her half-sisters in Eden (country I made, later post) when she is around seven, returns to Paris she is when she is eleven and meets Chloe, and become Lady Dove when she is twelve.
OK ACTUAL PLOT NOW
This happens in the middle of the summer break, and Constance is in Paris for the first time in years. She is twelve and skips a grade.
Constance breaks into an abandoned home for Fiona, a client and later possible SO, to find an old heirloom. Constance breaks in through a window and finds some weird shit (weird spell books in code, diaries) and is seriously creeped out, but Kara didn’t raise no bitch so she keeps going, she’s seen creepier in Eden anyways.
Constance (on her crutches) goes upstairs and finds a room with a shine dedicated to a cameo. She picks it up because hey, it’s free real estate.
The cameo is a Miraculous, The Dove Miraculous of Restoration.
Constance freaks and thinks she’s hallucinating and Meme, the Kwami, snaps her out of it, and explains. Constance transforms into Lady Dove.
It’s a lame name but hey, I like it.
In Origins, Lady Dove only appears in Part Two of Origins, because Constance just doesn’t care and thinks that Ladybug can handle restoring the city and cleansing the Akuma. When Ivan/Stoneheart is at the top of the Eiffel Tower and spits out the mass of butterflies, Ladybug manages to get most of the Akumas and panics when they try to escape and get someone, Lady Dove uses a cleansing spell (learned from the tomes) to get the rest and makes her debut.
Also, in this mess Ladybug can only cleanse the Akuma and not restore the city, Lady Dove does that. Meme didn’t tell her that and only said something after the first Stoneheart.
She steals part of Ladybug’s role lol whoops.
Lady Dove cleanses Ivan’s Akuma, restores the city, and sleeps because that’s the first time she used the restoration spell and she’s fucking tired.
That’s Lady Dove, now to Constance.
Constance joins at the same time as Alya, and is Chloe’s friend. She gets mad at Chloe for being rude and scolds her in front of the whole damn class. Chloe get pissed and Constance gives up and just starts flirting with her to make her shut up. Marinette and Alya still end up with different seats and Constance sits in front in her wheelchair and pouts.
Constance tries to talk down Alya in the library and fails miserably.
Watches the fight on the news but otherwise doesn’t do shit
Meme begins her explanation of Miracle Boxes, potions, unification, and Feast. Meme explains that the runes she had Constance draw all around the house were to hide them as long as they stayed inside.
(Second Day) She gets mad at Adrien but is finds out what happened from Sabrina, but doesn’t say anything, deciding it wasn’t her problem. She sits with Chloe and fakes a panic attack to escape, realizing that Ladybug didn’t get the Akuma and god fucking damnit Alya. Lady Dove debuts.
(Third Day) Constance manipulates Chloe into letting her sit with some else, quoting Sabrina’s and Chloe’s strong friendship and how she wants to make more friends. Honestly probably just says she doesn’t want to sit in the front and gets mad when Chloe tries to get others to move. She sits with Chloe and Sabrina at lunch and occasionally in class when she doesn’t want to sit in her wheelchair or the second row.
Constance asks Alya and Marinette if she can join them in the second row, is accepted because she stood up to Chloe, flirts with Marinette, and probably sleeps through class or just flirts because goddamnit I want this bitch to have a harem.
When Adrien arrives, Constance greets him a little coldly but doesn’t ignore him.
She witnesses the umbrella scene and teases Marinette for falling head over heels with him.
MIRACLE BOX
Later on in the week, Constance's aunt dies in a crash. She receives her first Miracle Box, which is the one Meme belongs to because fuck you.
I want a kwami reunion scene with Constance in the background crying for her aunt but being utterly fascinated with the kwamis and the designs of each Miraculous.
The Eagle Miraculous of that box is missing.
Lady Dove introduces the idea of temporary heroes early on and uses her Miracle Box
BTW Master Fu doesn’t know Lady Dove’s identity and disapproves of Lady Dove handing out the Miraculouses out already and not hiding them from Hawkmoth, who might target them.
SKILLS
-Shitty manipulation
-Creation of high-quality paintings and articles of clothing she designs
-High flexibility and reflexes, and high upper-body strength
-Able to wield several Miraculouses at once due to high mental resistance
-Several spells to enhance the Miraculous
-A cleansing spell that can be used to cleanse a mass Akuma
-Can speak French, choppy English, Eden’s language, and learning Mandarin/Chinese and Japanese
STUFF I’M ADDING
She has four friends from Eden- Eshaal, Caitlyn, Himari, and Rowen. They’re not a part of the harem but run the Constance Protection Squad. They come in later one at a time – expect Himari and Rowen, they’re dating and refuse to be separated. Eshaal’s parents are diplomates, Caitlyn’s mother is a war photographer who takes pictures of Akuma attacks and her father is dead, Himari’s mother is a chef and her father a financial analyst, and Rowen’s mother is a painter and his father a general who was sent in to monitor the Akuma situation.
Eshaal is a pop star, Caitlyn is a photographer, Himari is a dancer, and Rowen is an actor. Caitlyn is a workaholic and likes to gossip, and Eshaal is a ball of sunshine and dramatic. Rowen is insecure but very flashy and unbelievably dramatic, and Himari is an introvert but not afraid to be dramatic or cause a scene.
I’ll do a post on them later because I’m still trying to figure out what they look like.
I’m also adding Edward and Thomas DeLeon, twins who join probably after Origins. Thomas is a jealous bastard and is aiming to work in business, while Edward is a musician and shy. Thomas falls in love with Constance and is like Chat Noir but worse with his flirting and declarations of love. He gets Akumatised later and gets beat down. Edward also get Akumatised because his song is stolen.
Thomas finds the Eagle Miraculous and becomes a hero, name pending.
Why Constance has a harem: Her passive magic has something to do with love and naturally draws people to her. This is only amplified when she finds the Dove Miraculous, whose side effects include making people easily drawn to her for one reason or another. So, she’s a walking love magnet :D
OTHER THINGS
She totally sets the classroom on fire to scare off Lila
- “Are you insane?!” “Schizophrenic, actually.”
Forgive the spelling and grammer I’m tired.

They take a while to make and coming up with the ideas was a process. I encourage you to enjoy and if you wish to make your own, you are totally allowed to use these or simply take ideas. It is a long post as it has 50 Black and 150 White cards.
Have a good one!

Shine a Light on Me - part 5
Disclaimer: I don’t own ML.
Thanks to everyone who’s been following this fic! It was originally meant to be a salty oneshot and I can’t even believe it expanded into what it did. And thanks to anyone who’s liked and reblogged this - it means a lot more than you think, considering that this is only my second ever ML fic.
Part 4 | AO3 link
It’s not easy to navigate a building when you’re a group of brightly costumed superheroes trying not to be seen, especially when you’re looking for a fellow hero with a chance of being under the villain’s thumb. Somehow, though, Ladybug, Rena Rouge, and Carapace eventually find Chat Noir hiding in the library in the non-fiction stacks, curled in a ball.
“Chat Noir!” Ladybug rushes to his side and kneels next to her off-white partner. He squints up at her, and with the words ‘Adrien Agreste’ painted across his forehead, it’s a wonder that Luce Bianca hadn’t seen who he was before he could escape.
“Milady?” he croaks. He breaks into a weak grin when he sees Rena Rouge and Carapace behind her.
“How are you feeling, kitty?” Ladybug says, cupping his cheeks. She deliberately doesn’t look at the writing scrawled all over his body; he deserves his secrets, and if there’s anything he wants her to know then he’ll tell her. “Does it hurt?”
“Not now that you’re here,” Chat Noir says before his weak grin slips. “Honestly, it doesn’t. So long as I can’t see Luce Bianca, I don’t feel like I have to start spilling every little dark secret I have – it’s looking at her that hypnotises you into staying close to her. I think I’m pretty useless right now, bugaboo.”
“Dude, you’re far from useless,” Carapace says. “She totally would’ve gotten those kids if you hadn’t stopped her. And there’s gotta be some way you can help like this.”
“If we could find some way to cut the link between him and Luce Bianca when he’s near her, he could get the akuma without the risk of getting zapped,” Ladybug says slowly. “I know I usually wait until we’re in battle to do this, but…Lucky Charm!”
“Uh, okay,” Rena Rouge says slowly when Ladybug’s given a ladybug-patterned can of spray paint. “I don’t think spray-painting Luce Bianca will do much to stop her.”
Ladybug frowns. Her eyes are drawn to Chat Noir, then Carapace’s shield, then Rena Rouge, and she suddenly knows what they need to do. “Okay, guys, here’s the plan…”
“You think you can humiliate me like that?” Luce Bianca is shouting when the group of superheroes crouch in one of the corridors leading to the courtyard. Ladybug can’t help but wonder why Luce Bianca hasn’t left but then realises that it’s probably easier to keep everyone and their secrets close to her if she’s not moving and giving them the chance to slip away. “Well, I’ll expose you to the world, Ladybug! How are you going to defeat me without your mangy cat sidekick?”
“Meowch,” says a pitch-black Chat Noir. Covered in paint like he is, with a blindfold made of curtain fabric to prevent him from being able to see Luce Bianca, there’s no way he can do anything unless he’s got someone helping him.
“You’re my mangy cat,” Ladybug says. “Rena Rouge, Carapace, you ready?”
“Never been readier, dude,” Carapace says.
“Damn right,” Rena Rouge adds, twirling her flute between her fingers.
“Okay. Just like we planned.” Ladybug runs out of the corridor and does a graceful flip to land right in front of Luce Bianca. “Lila, you need to stop this right now!”
“Ladybug!” Luce Bianca clenches her fists. Ladybug shoots a glance at her bracelet, noting how it glimmers. If the akuma’s not there then she can’t think of where else it could possibly be. “Not very smart of you to show yourself like that when you know I want to crush you.”
“I’ve given you chance after chance to forget about your lies and –”
“I don’t want your pity!” Luce Bianca stomps her foot. When the rainbow words shimmer and move with her, Ladybug manages to discern what some of them say. They’re names, most likely of everyone she’s hit; Juleka Couffaine, Max Kanté, Alice Roux, Louis Martin…
“I don’t pity you,” Ladybug says. “I want you to be liked for who you are, Lila. I don’t want you to feel like you need to tell all these lies just to get people to like you.”
“Liar!” Luce Bianca bellows. “You can’t lie to me! I want your Miraculous, Ladybug! I want you unmasked! I want the whole world to know that you’re nothing but a little snake who puts on a cute smile to make everyone think she’s an angel! What would the world think if they knew how you’d treated me when we first met?”
“I already apologised for that,” Ladybug says firmly. “You’re perfectly entitled to not accept my apology, but you don’t get to keep hurting people like you’ve done. Especially with what you’ve done to Marinette Dupain-Cheng.”
Luce Bianca gives a shrill, hysterical laugh. “Her? She’s just as much of a snake as you! Always smiling, rushing to help people, acting like she’s some pure princess and everyone should rush to cater to her!”
“Or maybe you’re so used to lying that you’ve even succeeded at lying to yourself,” Ladybug says. She drops her right hand down to her side and counts down from three; when she reaches zero, she hears faint flute music and a call of “Mirage!” In the blink of an eye, the courtyard is filled with hundreds of Ladybugs and Rena Rouges.
“You think that’ll stop me?” Luce Bianca aims at one of the Ladybug illusions and fires a beam of white light, which makes the illusion ripple out of existence. The way she’d used her left hand – the one with the bracelet – only confirms that the akuma has to be there. “You think you can out-illusion Volpina? I’ll destroy every single one of them and then expose you and Rena Rouge! And I’ll take the Fox Miraculous for myself – it should be mine!”
The courtyard is utter chaos as Luce Bianca and her minions attack. The illusions put up a good fight, jumping and darting out of the way, but it’s only a matter of time before they’re all destroyed, so the heroes need to act fast. Out of the corner of her eye, Ladybug catches sight of the real Rena Rouge joining the fray to aid as a further distraction, while Carapace and Chat Noir edge around to get close to Luce Bianca. Whenever a beam of white light gets too close for comfort, Carapace deflects it with his shield while still guiding Chat Noir by the wrist.
“You ready, kitty?” Ladybug says when Carapace and Chat Noir draw level with her.
“I’m always ready, bugaboo,” Chat Noir grins. “Cataclysm!”
Once his ring is sparking, Ladybug takes over the job of guiding him from Carapace. With the number of illusions now severely depleted and Luce Bianca getting angrier and angrier, Carapace ducks away from Ladybug and Chat Noir to cover Rena Rouge’s back so that she doesn’t get hit. This also has the added effect of infuriating Luce Bianca even more, consequently keeping her attention off Ladybug and Chat Noir.
“Follow me,” Ladybug murmurs to Chat Noir, leading him around the edge of the chaos by the wrist. Thankfully, none of Luce Bianca’s minions seem to realise that a Ladybug illusion wouldn’t be guiding a blindfolded Chat Noir, otherwise Ladybug’s plan may have been utterly ruined.
“Enough!” Luce Bianca shrieks. “Give me your Miraculous, you fake fox! Then I’ll take Ladybug and Chat Noir’s for Hawkmoth!”
“Fake?” Rena Rouge says, nimbly leaping over a minion. “How am I the fake one when Ladybug chose me?”
Luce Bianca screams and shoots a series of beams in quick succession. There’s no chance for Rena Rouge to dodge even one of them…and she would have been hit if not for Carapace crying, “Shellter!” to create a glowing green force field that deflects every single beam.
“Now, kitty!” Ladybug dashes forward with Chat Noir while Luce Bianca is throwing her tantrum and focusing on Rena Rouge and Carapace. Luce Bianca seems to realise what’s happening a split second too late, as she whirls to meet Ladybug and Chat Noir just as Ladybug plants Chat Noir’s sparking hand on Luce Bianca’s bracelet.
“No!” As the blackened butterfly escapes from the ruined bracelet, Luce Bianca dives for it and tries to snatch it back. But Rena Rouge and Carapace are there in a heartbeat, each grabbing one of her arms and holding her tightly as she wails and writhes.
“No more evildoing for you, little akuma!” Ladybug swipes open her yo-yo and swings it around to gather momentum as she usually does, then tosses it out to catch the akuma. “Time to de-evilise! Gotcha!” She frees the now-white butterfly and waves it off with a, “Bye-bye, little butterfly!”
“This isn’t fair!” Luce Bianca furiously yanks and heaves against Rena Rouge and Carapace’s grips, but they hold on tight. “You’ve ruined everything, Ladybug! You and Rena Rouge! I hate you, I hate you, I hate you!”
Not even sparing Luce Bianca a glance, Ladybug retrieves her spray can Lucky Charm from inside her yo-yo, then throws it up in the air and calls, “Miraculous Ladybug!” The healing ladybugs zoom around, reverting all of Lila’s victims to their former selves and fixing the damage in the courtyard caused by the battle with the illusions. Chat Noir beams and looks himself over when the blindfold and spray paint are dissolved along with the effects of Luce Bianca’s exposing beam and he’s back to his usual self.
“White’s never been my colour,” he says, cracking his knuckles. “I’ve always been more of a dark, mysterious, dashing guy.”
“You’re a pussy cat,” Ladybug teases, booping him on the nose. Their banter is cut short by Luce Bianca turning back into Lila, whose head darts around to take in her surroundings.
“Did I – Ladybug, was I akumatised again?” she gasps. She looks at Rena Rouge and Carapace, who are still holding her loosely, and then she begins to cry when they release her. “How could I have been so weak? I can’t believe I let Hawkmoth akumatise me again! Oh, I’m so ashamed – you all probably hate me –”
“Drop the act, Lila,” Kim says, crossing his arms. Everyone else in the courtyard is muttering to each other and staring at Lila. “We all saw the video.”
“How do we know that you didn’t want to be akumatised as some form of revenge?” Max says. “We can’t believe anything you say.”
“It doesn’t have to be this way, Lila.” Ladybug holds out her hand. “You don’t have to lie about us being friends. Everyone makes mistakes –”
“Save the speech!” Lila snarls, batting Ladybug’s hand away. “You’re just trying to make yourself look like the perfect princess in all this! If you really wanted to be friends, then you wouldn’t have humiliated me like you did!”
“That was because you were putting yourself in danger from Hawkmoth,” Rena Rouge says. “And because you threatened two students.”
“I’m not even talking about that!” Lila says. “I’m talking about how you embarrassed me in front of Adrien! How you were so nasty to me, yet everyone thinks that you’re like some goddess!”
“I apologised for that,” Ladybug says. “I acknowledged that I was wrong to react the way I did. But you never acknowledged that you were wrong for deceiving people and claiming to be a superhero when you weren’t. And even if I hadn’t been angry, I still would have called you out, because you’re only endangering yourself when you do that. We can’t allow civilians to put themselves in danger like that, Lila.” Out of the corner of her eye, she notices Rena Rouge and Carapace dispersing the crowd so that there isn’t an audience to this confrontation, and her gratitude for her two friends increases even more.
“She’s only human,” Chat Noir adds. “My lady makes mistakes. We all do. Heck, I’ve made plenty of mistakes.”
“What matters is that you want to fix them,” Ladybug says. “We can offer you chance after chance, but nothing will change unless you want to change. And we don’t pity you, Lila. We sympathise with you. There’s a difference.”
“How?” Lila laughs bitterly. “Either way, you’re still coming from “oh, that poor Lila girl, let’s do the heroic thing and be her friend!” I don’t want your pity!”
“If it was pity then I wouldn’t mean it,” Ladybug says. “I’d be saying it out of duty. But I really do mean it, just like the first time I offered. You don’t need to lie to get people to like you.”
“I couldn’t care less if people like me,” Lila scoffs. “You don’t get anywhere by having people like you.”
“It’s not as though you’re not talented,” Ladybug says. She takes a careful step towards Lila, hoping that she doesn’t spook the other girl. “You’re excellent at crafting stories. You’re charismatic. You’re smart. And I wasn’t lying when I said that I’d like to be your friend. Just because people feel sympathy for you doesn’t mean that they feel sorry for you.”
“Milady, I’m going to transform back,” Chat Noir pipes up.
“So are we,” Rena Rouge adds. It’s just them in the courtyard now, with no audience whatsoever.
“Then you can take the Miraculouses back, Chat Noir,” Ladybug says. “I’m not on a timer, so I’m going to stay here and talk to Lila. And it might be better without others around.”
“I’m not delicate!” Lila growls.
“I never said that,” Ladybug says. “It’ll just feel more equal without my teammates around, is all I’m saying.” Once her fellow heroes are gone, she turns back to Lila, trying to figure out exactly what to say to get her point through this girl’s head.
“Thanks, but no thanks,” Lila scoffs. “I already told you, I don’t need –”
SLAP.
Lila gasps and reels back, clutching her face, where a red mark in the shape of a handprint is starting to sear itself into her cheek. If she wasn’t so annoyed and furious, Ladybug might be struggling not to be sick with how she had just slapped Lila Rossi across the face; but right now, all she wants is to make this girl see.
“Shut. Up. And. Listen. To. Me,” Ladybug says. “Listen. Don’t just go off on a self-pitying rant. You think I don’t get what it’s like to have no friends? You think that I’m just as popular and respected in my normal life as I am when I’m Ladybug?”
“How could you not be?” Lila spits. “Why else would you be picked as Ladybug?”
“I was picked because I got lucky,” Ladybug says. “I was in the right place at the right time. Listen. I’ve been in the same class with the same people for literally years, and I never had a best friend or a crush or even anyone I was particularly close to until this year. I was friendly with people, but I didn’t have friends. You can be yourself and try your hardest and still not have anyone who really likes you.”
Lila snorts loudly but doesn’t say anything.
“And I know that it can feel like no one will ever like you when that keeps happening,” Ladybug continues. “Putting enough trust in others to let them decide whether they like you for you? That’s one of the bravest things you can do. I’ve felt how you felt, Lila. I’m on your side. I was already on your side when I offered to be friends with you after apologising.”
“You’ve never once helped me,” Lila says. “All you’ve done is make things worse. You know who has helped me? Hawkmoth. He gives me the power I need.”
“Hawkmoth doesn’t care about anyone,” Ladybug says. “As cliché as this sounds, he’s using you. He’s probably said the same thing to everyone else that he says to you. You don’t need superpowers to be strong. I want to help you now.”
“I can’t trust you,” Lila says. “How do I know that you won’t go and make another video about me if I make a tiny mistake?”
Ladybug sighs. “I’m not sorry for calling you out for threatening Marinette and Alya,” she says. “But I am sorry for causing you that pain from making a personalised video like that. The only reason it got to that point is because I know what you’ve done to Marinette. And when someone is upset enough to tell me about being threatened, especially with video proof? I see it as my duty to help that person. It wasn’t to humiliate you, Lila. I was just so desperate to fix the problem and to make sure that Hawkmoth wouldn’t mistakenly attack you to get to me.”
Lila doesn’t say anything. Ladybug can’t tell if she’s cracking, so she keeps going.
“I won’t reject you,” she says and holds out her hand. “Do you think you can trust me and forgive me for hurting you? Can I be your friend for real?”
Lila stares at Ladybug’s hand with an unreadable expression on her face. Ladybug bites her lip, wondering if she’s truly doing the right thing or if she’s only rubbing salt in the wound and making Lila angrier and more bitter.
“I can’t be your friend,” Lila finally says. Ladybug’s heart starts to sink, but it stops at Lila’s next words. “Not yet. But…I can try not hating you.” She reaches out and loosely clasps Ladybug’s hand.
“That’s a start,” Ladybug says with a small smile. Unlike the last time they had interacted, when she had been Chameleon, Lila’s not wearing a fake smile and cheerfully accepting a truce. Ladybug’s still not fully sure, but it does feel like Lila’s at least genuine about this.
“Everyone’s going to hate me anyway,” Lila says when she lets go of Ladybug’s hand. “They all saw the video. So I’m not even sure what the point of this is.”
“I’ll ask Alya to take that video down,” Ladybug says. “I’ll even film another video asking people not to harass you. And you never know. There might be one or two people who still want to be your friend.”
“Not likely,” Lila says, but she’s not screaming hateful things anymore, so Ladybug counts that as a win.
“I have to go,” she says. “Will you be alright? Do you want me to take you home for the rest of the day?”
“No,” Lila says. “I don’t need to make people pity me like that. I don’t need them to like me.” With that, she turns and heads back into the school with her nose in the air. Ladybug watches her go, then heads in the opposite direction and ducks inside an empty classroom to detransform.
“I’m proud of you, Marinette!” Tikki says as Marinette rummages in her purse for a cookie. “It would have been so easy to give up on Lila and condemn her for what she did.”
“I thought about that,” Marinette admits. She finally finds a cookie and holds it out for her kwami. “But then I realised that we’d only be going in circles. She’d get angry, get akumatised, I’d defeat her, she’d hate me more. Part of being Ladybug is taking down hate wherever I see it.”
Tikki beams and grabs the cookie, taking a huge bite out of the sugary treat. “Exactly,” she says. “Do you think Lila was genuine about not hating you anymore?”
“I’m not sure,” Marinette says. “But there’s only one way to find out.”
After the chaos of Luce Bianca, everyone is quiet as they finish off their work in class, deliberately not looking at each other in the wake of exposed secrets. Even Lila is focusing on her work, refusing to meet anyone’s gaze when they look back at her, but also refusing to curl in and look pathetic. It’s such a stark contrast to her previous persona of constantly talking and making herself look small and helpless that Marinette can’t help but wonder which parts of Lila are just acts and which are genuine. But she can’t focus on that right now; if she looks back at Lila one more time, she’s got no doubt that Alya’s going to start asking questions.
When the bell rings for lunch, everyone rushes out of the classroom. Lila’s left at the back of the classroom without so much as a glance spared her way, but she sniffs and looks away when Marinette tries to catch her eye.
“Alright, come on, you guys,” Alya says, shepherding Marinette, Adrien, and Nino away from Miss Bustier’s classroom and down the hall to one that’s just been emptied. The minute the door is locked, she rounds on Marinette and Adrien, hands on her hips.
“Ladybug and Chat Noir,” she announces. “Right under my nose the whole time!”
“I know, right?” Marinette says with a wide, nervous grin. Alya just crosses her arms.
“I have no idea how I didn’t see it,” she says.
“Miraculous magic?” Adrien offers.
“So, like, did you two really not know who the other was?” Nino says.
“Nope,” Marinette says. “We agreed on that for each other’s safety. Especially after what happened on Heroes’ Day when you two knew about each other.”
Alya and Nino wince, but they both sigh and shrug in agreement.
“And even now, it was a total accident, Marinette finding out who I am,” Adrien says. He gives Marinette a very Chat Noir-like grin and slings an arm around her shoulders to draw her in close. Marinette swallows and tries to cool down her flaming cheeks while also glaring at a smirking Alya. “We’ve already agreed that I’m going to ask her out as Adrien, then LadyNoir will be a thing in a few days or so.”
“If you call us that, you’re getting dumped,” Marinette warns. Adrien just laughs and kisses the top of her head, rendering her so speechless that she groans and hides her burning face in his shirt.
“Okay, not that this isn’t the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen, but I’m actually going to be sick if I have to watch more of it,” Alya says.
“Now you know how we feel about you and Nino,” Adrien shoots back. Marinette snorts loudly. “How do you feel about us just walking into the cafeteria like this, bugaboo?”
“Yeah, I don’t think anyone wants to see some grand thing from the biggest drama king around,” Alya says.
“Hey!”
“She’s got a point, dude,” Nino snickers. “Chat Noir’s totally dramatic.”
“Really? Even my best friend?” Adrien huffs and steers Marinette around. “Come on, bugaboo, we don’t need them.”
“You really can’t call me that when we’re not transformed,” Marinette says as Adrien unlocks the door and the four of them leave the room and head for the cafeteria.
“Good point.” A devilish grin splits Adrien’s face. “Princess.”
“Oh my god,” Marinette whines, while Alya and Nino laugh loudly. “I swear, I will actually dump you.”
“We all know you’re a big fat liar, Marinette,” Alya smirks. Marinette turns and pokes her tongue out.
When they enter the cafeteria, everyone turns and stares at them, and Marinette has to resist the urge to hide her face again. Although everyone’s gotten used to having Adrien Agreste among their ranks, he’s still a popular celebrity, and so the sight of him with his arm around a girl is triggering a lot of whispers and murmurs around the room as he, Marinette, Alya, and Nino go to line up for their lunch.
“You’d think they’d have something better to talk about,” Alya says when they’ve collected their trays. “Honestly, Adrien, you’re not that cool.”
“Fight me,” Adrien deadpans. “Actually, no, don’t do that. You’d slam me into the ground and then Marinette wouldn’t have her gorgeous boyfriend anymore.”
Marinette makes a high-pitched sound and buries her face in his shirt again at the word “boyfriend”.
“Fine, fine,” Alya says. “Only because Marinette wouldn’t forgive me after all the times she’s cried to me about how pretty your face is.”
“Alya!” Marinette hisses.
“I’ll protect Marinette for you, dude,” Nino says when a group of girls shoot them a particularly nasty look on their way to an empty table. “I’ll be her shield.”
Both Marinette and Alya groan.
“That was terrible,” Alya says.
“And I can look after myself,” Marinette huffs. Just as they’re about to sit down at their table, she catches sight of Lila sitting alone at the edge of the room. Everyone’s clearly giving her a wide berth, judging by how people make an obvious effort to stay outside a certain radius if they have to walk past, and something in her stomach twists.
“Where are you going?” Alya says when Marinette picks up her tray again and heads straight for Lila. Everyone around her stares, and Lila narrows her eyes when Marinette draws near.
“Is this seat taken?” Marinette says brightly.
“Obviously not,” Lila scoffs. “And I don’t need you to come and start pitying me or whatever just because Ladybug told you to. I know you talk to her.”
“Who said this was pity?” Marinette sits down across from Lila and begins to twirl noodles around her fork. “I thought you might want a friend.”
“Yeah, right. After how I treated you? The only reason you’d be doing this is to suck up to Ladybug or whatever.”
“This might be a strange and foreign concept,” Marinette says, “but some people actually do forgive others. I don’t like how people are treating you just because Ladybug stood up for me.”
“What did she think was going to happen when she spoke out like that?” Lila says, but her shoulders seem just a fraction less stiff.
“Uh, Marinette?” Alya says from behind Marinette. “What’s going on?”
“I’m making a friend and I won’t take no for an answer,” Marinette says. Adrien’s the first one to cave, sliding into the seat next to Marinette and smiling at Lila.
“I told you there was no need for lying,” he says.
“Oh, shut up,” Lila snaps. “I already know you’re a smug idiot. You don’t need to open your mouth and prove it.”
“Harsh,” Nino says, but he still sits down next to Lila. “So, what music are you into, dude?”
“Oh, fine.” Alya sits down on the outside, next to Nino. “If Marinette can forgive then so can I.”
“Why are you being so nice to me?” Lila clenches her fists. “What do you want? People are never nice unless they want something. This isn’t the first school where someone’s tried to make friends with me.”
“But it is the first school where people still want to be friends regardless of whether you actually do know all the people you claimed to know,” Marinette counters calmly. “And I know what it’s like to have no friends. Before I met Adrien and Alya, I had no friends because Chloé would bully me so badly that people didn’t want to associate themselves with me. You know, in case Chloé targeted them too.”
“Sorry about that, by the way, dude,” Nino says. “I shouldn’t’ve let Chloé stop me from being your friend till now.”
Marinette just shrugs and takes another bite of her spaghetti.
“How the hell can you forgive people so easily?” Lila demands. “Everyone in the class turned their backs on you. They made you sit up the back. They wouldn’t be your friend because it would’ve made their lives harder. I threatened you and made people hate you. And you just – forgive. Why? How?”
“Because if I held on to all of that bitterness, I wouldn’t like the person I’d become,” Marinette says. “Just because I forgive doesn’t mean I forget what’s been done. I just don’t cling to it and let it poison me.”
Adrien takes her hand under the table and squeezes it, so she smiles back at him. Around the cafeteria, even more people are whispering at the sight of people actually choosing to sit with Lila, but she tunes them out.
“My parents are going out tonight, so I totally have to babysit Chris,” Nino says. “You guys wanna come and help? There’s Monopoly and Mario Party and unhealthy snacks in it for you.”
“You had me at Monopoly,” Alya says. “I will crush you, little boy.”
“You had me at unhealthy snacks,” Adrien says. “Man, I can’t remember the last time I ate real teenage junk food.”
“I’ll bring some pastries, then,” Marinette grins. “And I know that Chris likes chocolate croissants, so I’ll bring loads of them.”
“An angel has descended from the heavens to grace us with her presence!” Alya announces dramatically, waving her hands in Marinette’s direction. Marinette rolls her eyes but still laughs.
“You wanna come?” Nino says to Lila, who blinks and looks up from her food.
“What?”
“Do you wanna come and hang out too?” Nino says. “My parents don’t care who comes over, so long as the house isn’t totalled.”
“But if you pick Daisy in Mario Party, there will be consequences,” Alya says.
“Alya, you can’t threaten people not to pick your favourite character,” Marinette says.
“Oh, yeah? Watch me, Peach.”
“At least I’m not the one always getting kidnapped by the bad guys in real life.”
Without a word, Lila stands up with her tray and stalks out of the cafeteria.
“What’s her problem?” Alya says.
“She probably doesn’t trust us yet,” Marinette says. “But we’ll keep trying, even if it takes months.”
“And if she still doesn’t like us?”
Marinette sighs. “That’s her choice. But I don’t want to act like she doesn’t deserve another chance if even Chloé can get another chance after everything she’s done.”
“You got a point there, dude,” Nino says, reaching across to high-five Marinette.
“Well, I hope you’re ready to lose to the power of Waluigi tonight, princess,” Adrien says with a grin.
“And Yoshi, when we team up to take down the princesses,” Nino says.
“Bring it on, meme lord,” Marinette says, cracking her knuckles.

Catalyst thoughts
Okay wow I have FEELINGS about this episode and holy shit I’m still reeling.
Also, like every other non-French speaker out there, I’m relying on the English subs for now sooooo some things might be lost in translation haha.
And yes I had to stitch some pics together because a CERTAIN APP only lets me use 10 in a post and I had so many ugh
MY OUT OF ORDER THOUGHTS WHILE WATCHING (because I’m writing after the ep and can’t be assed ordering them):
• M R D A M O C L E S
• Volpina’s return. I also feel guilty as heck because I love Alya to bits buuuut Volpina’s outfit appeals to me more
• Saaaame Mari
Tumblr media
• Ewww Hawkmoth wtf you’re spying on a young teen girl no but seriously those implications in a kid’s show why Gabriel
• How has Lila not been caught out in her lie yet???
• No she really does need help because that degree of lying probably means a super low self-esteem but seriously perform a stop it your lies get other people hurt they ARE NOT JUST HARMLESS WHITE LIES
• THAT??? ILLUSION??? IF THAT LEVEL OF DETAIL IS FROM AN AKUMATISED FOX THEN IMAGINE ALYA’S TRUE POWER
• UMMMMM????? THANOS WTF ARE YOU DOING HERE????
Tumblr media
• AND WE GOT FOREWARNED FOR THAT LIKE A MONTH AGO
• I KNOW IT’S NOT REAL BUT GAH
• Though I’m kinda annoyed that Marinette’s outfit is just literally Antibug even though I do get that Lila wasn’t going for a flashy outfit and was probably more focused on scaring the shit out of Paris than making Ladybug look cool
• Okay but like Marinette deserves way better than tangling herself in a lie just because she’s busy being Ladybug an actual hero wow she really gets crapped on
• But at the same time it IS a flaw of hers that she’s very determined to do things her way so idk that might be foreshadowing
• HELLO I WOULD LIKE TO ORDER ONE (1) REPLACEMENT LARYNX BECAUSE I JUST BLEW MINE OUT
Tumblr media
• I KNEW NATHALIE WOULD BE IN ON IT YOU DON’T JUST SIT ON THE SIDELINES FOR SOMEONE LIKE HAWKMOTH
• So Nathalie lets herself be corrupted so she can enhance Hawkmoth’s corruption so he can terrorise a whole city who’s already mourning who they think is an akumatised Ladybug and a Thanos’d Chat Noir all so he can bring back his dead wife when his assistant is hopelessly in love with him
• Shit just went down y’all
• I literally can’t see anything other than this pls send help
Tumblr media
• JULEKA U R BEST GIRLFRIEND FOR ROSE NOT LEAVING HER LIKE THAT
• OMG NORA I LOVE YOU
• Hawkmoth: My son’s safety is priority
• Also Hawkmoth: Looooool time to terrorise Paris and send a giant gorilla after Adrien with no guarantee my son will be safe
• TIKKI!!! IN!!! A!!! SMOL!!! CHEF!!! HAT!!!
• PLAGG U GOOD BOY U CAN HAVE ALL THE CAMEMBERT U DIDN’T DESTROY PARIS AND ADRIEN DOING PAT PAT
Tumblr media
(Yes I know the GIF has a typo but I couldn’t use multiple because pic limit so)
• Omg Nora I love you so much best big sister
• Really you akumatised the freaking baby again
• OKAY BUT THESE TWO HAD ME SCREAMING WHO NEEDS ADRINETTE LOVE SQUARE WHEN U HAVE DJWIFI
Tumblr media
• I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ORDER TEN (10) NINOS HE IS SO HAPPY AND SUPPORTIVE
• CHLOÉ AND CHAT HAD ME SCREAMING TOO
• ADRIEN U LIL SHIT
• THE SQUAD IS FINALLY TOGETHER
Tumblr media
So this was a VERY strong episode and there wasn’t much to fault, which is great for an episode that literally relies on its succeeding episode as this one does for a two-part finale. I just wish that the season had a more definite order, as that only would’ve helped this finale and the emotional impacts from character growth (I honestly can’t pinpoint that much growth from Adrien or Marinette, which really sucks).
Also, as much as I want Gabriel’s ass to be kicked, the relationship between him and Nathalie is just so amazing purely because a lot of it is unspoken. Sure, you’ve got that speech about giving him strength and being loyal, but it’s the hug she gives him in ‘Queen Wasp’ where he doesn’t pull away or even react, implying it’s something she’s done before and not been pushed away for. It’s the way he lets her into his plans and trusts her to be there for him, to not go running and backstab him when SO much of his plan, even down to his very identity, relies on secrecy. It’s the tender way he akumatises her, as opposed to gloating about evilising everybody else, and the way he even asks her in the garden if she’s okay with it. That actually throws me off and makes me completely unsure of whether he’d forcefully akumatise her if she said no or just leave her be. And that uncertainty just adds to the air of evil around him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honestly, I’d be all for Gabriel eventually realising what Nathalie means to him and how much she’s done for him and choosing her over Emilie but let’s be real that ain’t ever happening.
Also, the way Nathalie responds is very telling and honestly opens the door for a deeper analysis into Hawkmoth’s powers. Notice how when he akumatises literally anyone else, they get that dark, purplish shadow around their eyes, along with the purple butterfly outline. But with Nathalie? There’s no shadow. She doesn’t look she’s gone overboard with the eye makeup and turned into the Winter Soldier like everyone else does.
Tumblr media
So that makes me wonder if a willing akumatisation born from more positive emotions (like the love Nathalie feels for Gabriel) is far more powerful than what Hawkmoth’s been doing so far (capitalising on negative emotions and forcing it) and even if, despite all his angry speeches, the purpose of Hawkmoth’s akumas wasn’t actually to get the Miraculouses. Of course, that would’ve been a nice addition, but I suspect that the true reason for the akumas was to amass an army of people who’d already been akumatised and therefore could be easily akumatised again. Which means that he probably didn’t fully expect any of them to succeed, and this also would’ve thrown LB and Chat off. I’m fairly certain that he’s been building to this day, when he could use Nathalie as a willing akuma fuelled by more positive emotions to boost his in turn, and if that’s the case then I regret ever doubting Hawkmoth’s capabilities because man, he’s got patience.
Can he also sense positive emotions??? Cause if he can and he’s just stringing Nathalie along by her feelings for him then I’m gonna scream even though I definitely feel that he likes her as far more than just an assistant
Prepare thy butthole for Mayura, it’s gonna be a wild ride. It HAS to be Nathalie who gets the Peacock cause like who else would Gabriel trust to use the Miraculous he’s got.

Could you Share some head-canon for Lila's redemption arc??? I would love to read that -Eh'lir-
[Edit: Was trying to update the queue, accidentally re-posted this, sorry about that]
*cracks knuckles* my time has come
so this was SUPPOSED to be like a quick explanation but then it spiralled off into a quasi-fic OTL (this is basically one of my scrapped fic ideas, actually)
* = Listen Marinette recognised Kim’s heart brooch while Dark Cupid was half a block away from her and also freakin’ flying, I’m 90% sure the Miraculous just gave her enhanced eyesight.
Ladybug calling out Lila is captured on camera and people figure out she’s Volpina pretty quickly afterwards. Lila’s reputation is ruined and she is pissed but also pretty sad because now no one likes her or believes her
So Marinette reaches out to her, because she feels guilty for her involvement. Adrien tries to make things up to her because he understands wanting to make friends, and having everyone judge you based on your status and connections rather than you as a person. (I believe that Lila didn’t lie about everything she’s experienced, she only lies about some things because people will believe her anyway)
It takes a while, but eventually Lila just, lets them do whatever, because god knows things can only get worse.
Still, while Lila does end up with some friends, but she’s still not okay emotionally. Maybe she gets jealous about Marinette crushing on Adrien (either because she still likes Adrien, or because she likes Marinette, or because they’ll end up liking each other more than they like her), or she’s just still upset with people still calling her a liar and generally not trusting her.
Or maybe she’s just upset about her life in general, because moving all the time and having no close friends is not a fun thing.
So she gets akumatised again, but instead of becoming Volpina, she becomes Discordia, and she expresses her anger and frustration and loneliness by causing chaos and mayhem. But, before Ladybug or Chat Noir can confront her, she vanishes and the akuma leaves her and returns to the Papillon (without multiplying, because that defeats the purpose of stealth)
But Lila has no memory of doing any of that. She hears about Discordia and just hates Paris and its ridiculousness.
And Marinette and Adrien are suffering, because without capturing Discordia’s akuma, they can’t fix the damages she’s done. So people are injured, buildings are wrecked and they’ve failed to protect Paris. So they’re both independently freaking out and Lila may or may not notice her friends are uneasy, but everyone’s kinda on edge about this.
Then Discordia shows up again, because Lila’s emotional state is a constant wreck (maybe she feels good about having friends, and improving on her honesty, but then she sees her friends with other people and doubts the validity of her own friendships). She manages to transform back and escapes Ladybug and Chat. People are losing faith in their heroes.
But Lila’s getting suspicious about suddenly missing bits of her day. There’s no way it took her over an hour to go up the stairs of her apartment. Why is she really tired even though she hasn’t left her room?
Then she overhears Marinette and Adrien comforting each other after school, because both of them are stressed over Discordia and it shows. Her jealousy spikes and Discordia makes another appearance and makes a wreck of the school building. Marinette and Adrien manage to excuse themselves to split up, but Discordia escapes and transforms back. Ladybug and Chat Noir see the akuma flying out of one of the school windows. They realise it’s from the girls’ washroom, and rush in in time to find Lila blankly asking what the hell is going on.
They don’t confront her immediately, because they can’t be sure Lila is Discordia, so they just let her go and reconvene. If Lila is Discordia, is she acting of her own volition or is she being manipulated? But Lila’s been getting better around their civilian selves, even Adrien, but Lila’s also a liar and a very good one at that. Suddenly there’s doubt. Is Lila messing with them? Does she hate Ladybug and Chat Noir so much as to willingly work with the Papillon? No, Ladybug says, Lila doesn’t remember what’s happened. She didn’t pretend to be involved in the attack, she genuinely doesn’t know. Still, there is some doubt, and they are not the best at staying normal.
Marinette and Adrien try, and they seem okay to everyone else, but Lila knows body language and something is wrong. It doesn’t help that she’s pretty much certain she is Discordia, but now she can’t tell anyone because look at all the damage the akuma’s caused. Why believe Lila? Lila, who lied about so much already and probably only became friends with Marinette and Adrien because they pitied her? Lila, who probably would help the Papillon to get back at Ladybug?
So her emotional state just gets worse and Paris is terrified and Marinette and Adrien are just so guilty for the people they can’t help or protect and it’s just awful all around. Parisian authorities can’t depend on Ladybug or Chat to take down Discordia, so they step in, and basically can’t really do much.
Because sure, Discordia’s only specialized in offense and speed. She gets in, screws stuff up, and gets out. She has no real defensive ability, but she’s still faster than mundane weaponry. But she doesn’t have a Miraculous, she doesn’t have invulnerability. She lands badly while escaping an attempt to capture her and Lila comes to in her room with a bruised shoulder. There’s no explaining it, now.
She watches the news talk about Discordia, and she can’t deal with that guilt. It doesn’t matter if people believe her, not when her continued silence is hurting people. It doesn’t matter what her intentions are if she’s hurting people. Lila doesn’t matter if she is the one hurting all these innocents.
Lila decides to tell someone. She has to tell someone, anyone. And then a butterfly phases through her window and merges with her bracelet for the second time in an hour.
Who would she confide in, a soft voice asks. Marinette, who can’t even look her in the eye, who ducks her head and looks so uncomfortable around her now? Adrien, who smiles modelling smiles and laughs awkwardly and tries too hard to seem normal? Alya? Nino? People who may as well only be polite to her because Marinette and Adrien liked her?
Who would believe her, for all her previous honesty? Does she really think Discordia’s acted entirely of someone else’s accord? Does she believe Discordia’s actions are not a reflection of her own thoughts? It’s Lila who wants Paris ruined, it’s Lila who wants Ladybug dethroned from her heroism, it’s Lila who is deceiving everyone around her.
And Lila tries to defend herself. No, she doesn’t want to see all these people hurt. She doesn’t like the fear she’s caused. She doesn’t want anything Discordia has done.
But of course she does, the Papillon insists, because she’s just that sort of person. And, even if she denies it, is anyone really going to take her word for it? Even if Marinette and Adrien weren’t so distant from her now, did they ever really like her? Of course not, they felt bad for her, they felt bad for everyone else distrusting her, they only stood up for her because their consciences wouldn’t allow them to be bystanders. They didn’t help her for her own benefit.
Lila says it’s a lie, says it has to be a lie.
And yet, the Papillon says, she believes it herself.
The worst thing is, he’s right. She does believe it. His words aren’t just attempts to incite her, they’re thoughts she has of herself as well.
However, he says, things don’t have to be this way. Lila doesn’t have to be alone. Her life doesn’t have to be so. She can have her friends, Adrien and Marinette who like her for herself and won’t ever leave her. She can have her happiness.
All he needs is a favour in return.
Lila knows she’s being manipulated, Lila knows it can’t be so simple, Lila knows the Papillon is not doing this out of the kindness of his heart.
Lila opens her mouth, and her bedroom door breaks open.
Jump back about fifteen minutes. Marinette and Adrien run into each other about a block from Lila’s apartment. Just visiting Lila, they tell each other. And they can’t deal with it anymore, they confide in each other that they think Lila’s been akumatised. They’re both pretty relieved it wasn’t just them assuming things. They make it to Lila’s apartment building, just in time to see something small and dark and winged fly through a window*. They realise 1. that’s an akuma, 2. that’s Lila’s room, and 3. they need to get up there asap.
They each try to convince the other to stay behind, try to get away so they can transform, but they’re both stubborn and dense so they just rush up to Lila’s apartment room still in their civilian forms. They don’t have keys, but lucky them, the door’s not locked. They reach her room and aren’t very polite in opening the door.
They find Lila on the floor, crying, with a holographic mask over her face. Neither of them really think.
Don’t listen to him, Marinette pleads, please don’t listen to him. She kneels down next to Lila and grabs her by the shoulders. Whatever he says, don’t listen to him.
But he’s telling the truth, Lila says tearfully, she really is pathetic, she’s the one who hurt all those people. It doesn’t matter her intentions, she still acted on her hatred and jealousy.
That’s not how it works, Adrien says, that’s not how akumatisations work. People think bad things all the time, we feel bad things and sometimes we wish bad things on others. But we don’t act on it, that’s what matters.
But I did act on it, Lila tries to say, but Adrien kneels down next to her and Marinette and rests his hand on her shoulder.
The Papillon is making you act on it, he says, the Papillon is manipulating your feelings. It’s not your own actions, it’s not your choice, if it was, would you feel so upset with yourself?
Lila’s mask begins to flicker. The voice in her head gets louder.
They’re lying, it whispers.
Come on, Marinette grips her hands, we know you don’t mean to hurt anyone. We know you’re better than that. We believe in you.
They don’t, Lila hears, they’re lying, they just don’t want her to become akumatised, they’re just trying to stop her.
And then Adrien hugs her. It’s awkward, from one side, but he’s warm and Lila swears she can feel his worry. Marinette mimics him, and Lila’s just sat on the floor now with her friends hugging her from either side and the mask continues to flicker.
They’re lying, lying, lying-
We’re not lying, they say.
Lila wants to doubt them. Too good to be true. So good it must be a lie. But they’re holding onto her, repeating reassurances. They believe in her, she isn’t cruel, she isn’t out to hurt people, she can fight the Papillon, he doesn’t deserve to use her feelings like that, he doesn’t deserve to witness them like so.
You’re not alone anymore, Adrien says, we’re not alone anymore.
You don’t need to lie to us, Marinette says, you don’t need to impress us.
It can’t be so easy, it can’t be so simple, it can’t be true, Lila says.
It won’t be easy, they say. It won’t be simple.
But it can be. If she lets it. If she trusts them.
The mask shatters. Lila comes to terms with her pain and her grief. She doesn’t need to fight it, she doesn’t need to hate it, she just needs to accept it as a part of her, and move on.
A pure white butterfly coalesces from her bracelet, and flutters off through the window.
And then there’s a lot of hugging and crying and I should have just made this into a fic or something but I’ve spent like three hours on this I can’t believe myself
