Like why would you willingly ignore the fact that they went home, that Eddie's family was immediately smitten with Andy when they met him, that Eddie bought Mr Haldane a nice whiskey to thank him for the blankets, or that Mrs Haldane talks to Eddie for longer than to her own son when she calls her boys at the end of every week 🤨

How can you look at Eddie and Andy hosting yearly K Company barbecue in the home they've built for themselves in Massachusetts and decide to derive from canon to inflict such hurt </3

Average Pacific Rim Headcanons

A local ice cream place offers kaiju blue milkshakes for sale (berry flavored with lime). A sign says that percentage of the profits are donated to kaiju blue poisoning treatment research.

If you were in school and lived in a coastal Pacific city during the kaiju war, you had kaiju escape drills.

You had PPDC officials come to your school looking for drift compatible students.

You know a girl who claims that she can channel the kaiju. She has a small online following who hang on to her every word.

Construction projects are delayed or halted in your city as iron is redirected to the jaeger program.

Anytime you and your friends say something at the same time, you joke about being drift compatible. Part of you hopes you really are.

If you were in college, you considered changing your major to biology or engineering, if it wasn't that already.

You follow several scientists researching kaiju or the breach on social media. Some work for the PPDC, some work for private labs or university labs. Some would host AME sessions. You watch as the scientists working for the PPDC all eventually announce that they've been let go and are going to work elsewhere now.

You follow several rangers on social media. One by one, they stop posting. Their deaths are announced on the news.

People joke about sending the citizens of Philadelphia to fight kaiju. They're so good at crushing invasive spotted lantern flies, they should be good at destroying kaiju.

Scientists announce the discovery of a bacteria that eats kaiju blue. Several more are eventually found all over the world.

The Blue Light District Underground

Anyone who lives in the Blue Light District knows that the best method of getting around isn't to drive. Traffic is congested at best, and that's if one doesn't get held up by some would-be overlord or gang war trying to blow part of the city up. Walking on the streets can often present similar issues, and that's without taking into account the nature of weather.

No, anyone who's spent enough time in the BLD knows that the best way to get around is the underground. The first few rooms-- including the one that connects to the Tower, were intended as subway stations that never materialized (though Vox is unwilling to abandoned that cause altogether, it remains a work in progress). It was begun in the mid-1980s, after Takumi's death, and subsequent start to him employment under Vox. It's grown ever larger, and nowadays there are very few places in the Blue Light District that can't be walked between using the underground paths. Because of this gradual growth over time, the aesthetics of the different sections of it can often be radically disparate from one another.

They're composed both of longer, tubular sections mostly just used as transit--many of these have moving walkways to help speed it up (which is another reason some people prefer the paths to the streets), although huge swathes of it function more like a protracted mall, with shops and food scattered throughout.

Given it's expansiveness, many people do end up quite lost within it's labyrinthine halls, unless deeply experienced with it. Even for people who are, they're often more familiar with a specific route within it than the entire complex. For a lot of residents of the District, they're more familiar with it, but for people who reside elsewhere in the city, the underground often offers more trouble than it's worth! There's very little there that can't be found on street-level, and that comes with a much smaller chance of getting lost, or being unable to find an exit.

Many people take refuge here during the Exterminations. However, like most places in the Blue Light District, privacy is sacrificed for comfort and safety. There's no where that is safe from the prying eyes of Vox's cameras, though for many people who live here, the price is well worth the benefits provided.

(It's how Hellaina commutes back and forth from work on an average day!)

No one lives down here, however, as all the residental areas of the BLD are situated, almost entirely, in apartments on the street level. It's this somewhat... dizzying but economic usage of space that is part of what makes the BLD the (second) most dense region of the Pentagram, and also one of the more desirable ones.

Another new Gravity Falls headcanon

Mabel and Pacifica are roommates (or more, wink wink, cuz if Pacifica would get with a Pines twin, it's Mabel, idk, I just vibe with that pairing, no shade).

Mabel would move to Portland from Piedmont just to get closer to her Grunkles but also attend University of Portland* instead of going to CalArts like everyone expects her to do. Even though her major is in psychology (based on Ariel Hirsch's career in therapy), she has an arts and crafts side hustle on Etsy, farmer's market, First Friday, and comic cons. She loves arts and crafts but she doesn't want to make it her full time career otherwise it would suck the fun out of it just for the money. If I know anything about Portland from Portlandia, she would vibe with the weirdness and artiness. Around the same time, Pacifica would leave her toxic parents' home the moment she turned eightteen with nothing but a matching luggage set and a trust fund that her parents cannot touch. Knowing she can't go to the real world alone, she moved with Mabel in a modest apartment**. It was a rough adapting, but she learned to share with Mabel and be her own person. Luckily, she made some money being a Twitch streamer/Influencer.

"I may be the only one who feels this way, but she's a woman. It started as an inside joke, because I was talking about PacRim but not really Raleigh, and someone heard the name and solidly thought the main character was a lesbian until I made them watch the movie. However I've expanded it so much. She's masculine, but it doesn't seem to fully suit her, and she's clearly more awkward around men. But the thing is, I don't even think it's true because it's there in canon. It's not super there in canon. However, her arc would be so much cooler with transfemininity. For example, PacRim is all about sharing minds with someone. Can you imagine the level of intimacy that takes when you're closeted? It explains why she refuses to drift with people who aren't Mako. Plus, it adds to the themes of war by showing how those who get conscripted to fight often rely on hypermasculinity. Plus, PacRim really plays with how drifitng removes control over your body, and it would be cool to watch her reclaim her body through transition. I just... she deserves it. i think wymack and kevin look very similar but not in a way that's noticeable at first. same features, different face shape, different coloring. something like that. zoom in on just their face & realize its identical but you wouldn't pick up on it from far away. really ppl only realize it once they actually have reason to look (cue allison lining them up next to each other and going my GOD. how did we not realize! but why would they have realized before??? You know??). in my head wymack is very average height, past his prime, works out for strength, not appearance, the works. which adds another layer to nobody realizing & also somehow makes it easier to see him as kevin's father, not his coach

Average Pacific Rim Imagines: The World Keeps Moving

Robots built for small robot tournaments often resemble jaegers, if they aren't just designed to look like miniature versions of famous jaegers.

In the US, midwestern cities swell in size as people leave coastal areas. Of course, these are just the ones who can afford to move. Many poorer residents remain stuck. Also, poorer residents of midwestern towns are evicted as landlords prepare to welcome wealthier residents.

You watch a kaiju scientist you follow on social media grow increasingly frustrated as they find themselves explaining repeatedly that kaiju are not reptiles because they're aliens and therefore not part of the class reptilia.

You know how there's tornado chasers? There are kaiju chasers. They follow kaiju around from a hopefully safe distance and make videos, take observations, etc.

Coastal cities pass ordinances prohibiting the construction of tall buildings near the coast. Not that anyone wants to build them anyway; the insurance rates are excruciating and few people want to live or run their business there.

You know of a guy on social media who has successfully predicted every kaiju arrival. The PPDC has seemingly taken no notice of him. He's also not a kaiju spiritualist; in fact, he seems like a pretty normal guy.

Controversy exists over whether to recycle the iron in old jaeger hulls into new buildings (such as housing, perhaps), new jaegers, or to leave the jaegers intact as historical relics.

Due to kaiju attack risk and the corrosive effects of kaiju blue on cargo ships, the cost of international shipping goes up. Any product that is or was shipped across the Pacific drastically raises in price. Many products you took for granted skyrocket out of your price range.

As the jaeger program fails, an arrogant billionaire claims that if it was privatized under his company, he could make it work. He describes his plans to optimize the jaeger program. They would never work.
