After reluctantly leaving her medbay to attend the beach day, Ray wandered across the sandy landscape, without really knowing where she wanted to go.

The medic zoned out while walking near the shore line, flinching when she accidentally touched the water. She quickly backed up, her gaze now focused on the water. In the water, she saw something blue, that seemed to be a person. Without thinking, she waved at them.

Hey Sarai! Ray said when she recognized the seraph, smiling widely. What are you doing? She tilted her head curiously, while making sure to maintain a safe distance from the water Sarai was in.

Sarai was lost in thought. She had gone into the water as an escape from the crowds and the judgmental gaze of her colleagues.

Ray calling her had caught their attention. She emerged slightly from the water to meet her gaze.

“Oh, hello Ray.” They said, “I was just enjoying the water. I take it you’re enjoying the beach festivities?”

Returning to their chambers, Sarai found not the desired silence after their last conversation with Sera, but the sinner mantis they last saw on the Envy Ring. He was in a winner's disguise, very similar to his original appearance. There was something strange about him though. And the first strange thing was that he was fucking laying right on Sarai's bed in one of Sarai's nightgown, and ate Sarai's alga.

Sarai lets out a scream, and her wings spread out instinctively. Her eye glow as she hisses.

Adina story part 1? More likely than you think.

This takes place back when Adina and Sarai were both Apprentices and when Ava accidentally killed a Hellborn during her first Extermination. What Adina offers is basically for Ava to become her bodyguard for a few months to essentially “prove herself” worthy of rejoining the Exorcists.

Sarai has never liked Adina, and pretty much only hung around her since they were in the same cohort and Adina was the only one who showed “kindness” (more like backhanded comments) to her. Her eyelashes and eyebrows are black here because she dyed them to look more like her, but she’ll never admit that.

Sera, you said you wished to speak with me again? Might I ask what this is in regards to? -🦢

Sarai was pretty certain she hadn’t done much recently to warrant another talk from the High Seraph. But with Sera, who could tell anymore? She faced the elder Seraph in her office, waiting nervously expectantly for what her mentor would have to say.

*Sera sighs heavily and stands up from her seat. She doesn't say a word for a few seconds, composing her thoughts, then places her hand on the seraph's shoulder and looks her straight in the eyes.*

Sarai. Starting today, you'll be taking up the position of a full-fledged seraph. Adina has failed in her duties, and after she inevitably returns to Heaven, with a heavy heart, I will have to demote her back to apprentice. I hope now that the spy is neutralized, she will have to come to her senses and return to serving Heaven.

My first task for you, as the fully-fledged seraphim, is to find and bring her back. And then I will generously turn a blind eye to your little office affair.

He worried if Sarai would forgive him after he blew them off. But she had to try. She told Sadie she would.

He was about to walk to Sarai, until he saw the familiar figure of an unfriendly Seraph bump into her.

Uh oh. Looks like they were arguing now. Better hide before she gets caught in the middle, and then she'd apologize.

He hid behind some trash cans and watched Sarai and the other Seraph talk.

Even as a guardian angel, Sarai was still not exempt from picking up coffee for the Council. She ordered the coffees, remembering the god-awful tastes of her superiors, and walked out the door.

She was distracted by a lot of things. One, she still couldn't stop thinking about Milan, who was now probably still with Adina.

((She wants to be with her? I shouldn't be so surprised. I could never compare. I'm not much.))

Second, Lana was bugging her - and not just by ignoring her helpful advice. She reminded her so much of someone - Ava, someone who she had also lost forever.

((They're so much alike. She'll hate me too soon. I know it. Ava already does.))

Lost in her thoughts, she bumps into a tall figure, whom she spills all her coffee over.
