           HOW MADDOX / 004 HANDLES PAIN & ILLNESS

Maddox  has  an  incredibly  high  pain  tolerance.  Meaning  she  could  break  a  bone  or  severely  injure  herself  and  (  at  least  attempt  )  to  walk  it  off  with  no  real  outward  sign  of  pain.  She  has  broken  numerous  bones  growing  up.  Either  by  fighting  back  against  orderlies  or  just  lashing  out  when  she  became  overstimulated.  She's  even  very  nearly  crushed  all  her  bones  in  her  right  hand  and  never  even  made  a  sound.

That  doesn't  mean  she  has  a  high  healing  rate.  Yes.  She  does  heal  marginally  quicker  than  a  normal  person,  but  it  still  takes  quite  awhile  depending  on  the  extent  of  the  injury.  

She  handles  pain  as  well  as  one  like  her  could.  She  doesn't  take  much  stock  in  it.  A  little  blood  doesn't  bother  her  and  it  actually  confuses  her  when  people  show  concern  if  and  when  she  does  get  injured.

As  for  illnesses  /  diseases ( as discussed with @hazaerd​  )  004  was  never  immunized  or  vaccinated  against  things  like  a  normal  child  would  have  been (  bc  Brenner  is  an  idiot  sandwich  )  .  They  were  all  kept  in  a  sterile  environment  so  it  never  really  crossed  Brenner's  mind  since  he  really  had  no  intention  of  letting  any  of  the  experiments  out  (  even  when  he  let  004  out  he  didn't  think  to  vaccinate  her  as  she  was  supposed  to  be  kept  isolated  ).  

So,  in  all  reality.  The  flu,  chicken  pox,  or  even  a  simple  cold  could...  realistically  wipe  her  out.  And  that  is  the  reason  that  when  she  DOES  get  sick...  she  gets  S  I  C  K.  And  it's  like  the  end  of  the  world  because  she  has  no  idea  why  she's  feeling  the  way  she  does.  

Part  of  the  cocktail  her  handlers  were  giving  her,  were  immune  system  boosters,  so  while  she  was  getting  the  shots,  she  was  relatively  okay.  So  long  as  she  didn't  catch  something  particularly  nasty.  But  when  the  shots  went  away,  she  was  prone  to  a  lot  of  things  until  her  immune  system  caught  up  to  normal.  

                 SMALL  ADD  TO  THIS  :  RE ; SKELETOR

When  Maddox  /  004  gets  sick  or  injured,  Skeletor  mirrors  the  injury  or  illness.  Their  lives  are  linked  so  when  one  takes  "damage"  the  other  does  as  well.  So  before  Skeletor  came  out  of  the  Upside  Down,  Maddox  would  sometimes  randomly  get  scratches  or  bruises  from  when  Skeletor  would  get  into  fights  with  other  demogorgons.  It's  one  of  the  reasons  why  she  is  super  protective  of  him  once  he's  with  her  because  she  doesn't  want  to  get  hurt  and  she  doesn't  want  anything  to  happen  to  him  because  he's  been  with  her  her  entire  life.  It  was  like  he  was  a  shadow  or....  a  monster  sibling.  

It's  also  why  she  is  super  careful  about  who  she  tells  about  Skeletor  knowing  what  some  of  them  have  been  through  when  it  comes  to  the  demogorgons.  She  tries  to  calm  their  fear  that  they  have  nothing  to  be  afraid  of  when  it  comes  to  Skeletor.  He  protects  them  all  when  he  can.

El was changing. They were getting older, and Eddie had to adapt to those changes. Everything they had been to had led to a new version of El, but Eddie figured that was normal. Still, he couldn’t hide the fact that he was a little wounded at their response. “Well... what are you in the mood for? I just want to hang out with you again.”
