Hi, I really enjoy and appreciate all your haylor work. And I have a question for you, since you know soo much. I just saw the long pond studio show with taylor and noticed, that she doesn't wear a lot of jewelry. Just a ring and an infinity bracelet....like in the down bad eras visuals. Now my question, is this ring the opal ring from harry??? And I also noticed, that it is a two piece ring....she is playing with it, while talking. She wears different outfits during the show but has the same ring and bracelet for every outfit. I always feel like during folklore and evermore time, she and Joe were having a rough time and maybe she wanted harry to see the ring???

Taylor has worn infinity symbol jewellery since November 2015, but increased how many she wore in 2020 when the re-records were announced and the symbol used on the man wall. It’s not clear what the meaning is, a legacy that lasts forever? A love that lasts forever? It was first seen 2 months after One Direction released the song infinity and that’s what I think of. There’s a post with infinity symbols, lyrics and jewellery here, she wore that bracelet throughout 2020 and 2021:

The ring was also in the cardigan video and long pond. It was inexpensive and not seen again so a choice for folklore. Opals are interesting in general, she has worn several and (this different ring with the similar shape opal) one is thought to have been a Christmas gift from Harry in 2014 and worn up to 2016:

During down bad on the eras tour you can see the infinity symbol being drawn by the sliding mirrored block she is on. So if one would assume this to be a haylor song then I think the infinity symbol here is interesting.

We have confirmation that they wrote together some time in 2012. Jackknife Lee, who worked on The Last Time and 1D’s Something Great (Harry’s the only 1Der with that writing credit), talked about it in the linked article.

“It was out of my field of expertise and interest, but I was intrigued and my girls were thrilled. Taylor was nice and very professional. She knew what she wanted and there was no fucking about. She was seeing Harry Styles at the time, so he came to Topanga on her recommendation. She wrote a few songs with him, and it was the same thing – quick. But this time it was more directed by the management and label. They were after something specific. I wanted more acoustic and gentle, almost Americana, and they wanted bombast. They got what they wanted, and that was the extent of my foray into teen-pop territory. It was fun.”

She helped him transition to songwriting, even introducing him to her collaborators. I would bet money that she made the intro to Nashville’s Tyler Johnson (who sang on tracks, and engineered Holy Ground and The Lucky One). Harry’s been working with him ever since; they just won AOTY together with Kid Harpoon for Harry’s House.

And they’re creatives and prolific songwriters who write in a decade-long dialogue with each other. I am sure they could not resist writing together!

As for 1D…wow. A lot! All the ones with Harry as a sole 1D writer, for sure, so:

Genuine question, people who think Larry is so far-fetched and people are crazy, how do they explain ship&compass, rose&dagger, rope&anchor, heart&arrow tattoos. The papillon moth, then the skull and heart diamond tattoo Louis got around his wrist that the same character in papillon with the moth tattoo had. Sometimes I just remember they got them when they were still so young and like woah. The evidence is literally inked on skin and you can’t tell me a guy with a longtime gf fed up of gay band mate rumors would be getting complimentary tattoos with him. Hi, I’ll be glad to answer this one.

So, I was going through the lyrics, and a few other songs to compare… Personally, I am gonna say no, only because the song was written not by any of the boys themselves, therefore, none of their actual experiences are most likely incorporated in the song. I believe it’s one of those songs they are given and told to sing it.

But, there are some lyrics that stand out a lot. “Since you went away, there’s nothing left in mine.” - From this lyric, we’re being told their upset because their lover went away, now the “light” has died in his eyes. If you remember, that lyric is the exact same lyric as found in “From the Dining Table” which Harry tells us the listeners that Taylor went away. But, that lyric was referring to them no longer speaking in “From the Dining Table.” But, the lyric “Since you went away / there’s nothing left in mine.” Is completely different in meaning, as he’s not referring to communication issues in this song. But rather the overall heartbreak feeling, you know, when you go through a heart break and you use to be upbeat and happy? And your eyes just light up? When you breakup with someone, that tends to all go away.

Then there’s another lyric that caught my eye; “And now I’m one step closer to being / Two steps far from you/And everybody wants you / Everybody wants you.” While this is true, I’m sure everyone wants Taylor, you can’t really pin-point it to be about her, because, I’m sure if it was about Taylor, it would be written that she was taken with a new man (like in Woman/From The Dining Table), but, instead it’s just a regular general heart break lyrical statement, kind of like; “Steal My Girl.”

Finally there are these lyrics that sort of link up to Olivia; “And time is irrelevant when I’ve not been seeing you / The consequences of falling out.” Which is very similar to; “Down to Earth / It’s like I’m frozen, but the world still turns / Stuck in motion, and the wheels keep spinning ‘round /Moving in reverse with no way out.” But … Here’s the thing, when he is talking about the world turning still. What he means by that is, the world is still the “same” (kind of like, to put it this way, when someone dies, the world still “turns” and nobody stops for you.. The buses keep running, people keep going to work, people still make their dinner. Etc) But for that one person they loss, it’s a horrible feeling, because it feels like everything comes in a complete “stop” for them. This lyric also simply means, being without them feels like forever.. But the moving in “reverse” is him saying everything is going wrong. 

Therefore, I don’t think it has any relation to Taylor. I think it’s just an incredibly sad heart break song (seriously, I adore this song.) But, I think for all the boys, it’s something they could always relate to if they were ever to play, despite not specifically being about anyone, but the lyrics would be something they could easily relate to … More specifically, Harry.

Also, keep in mind, when Harry writes songs for Taylor, they’re very specific with references (which is what Taylor does.) “Olivia” is a good one for example. From the title it’s self, he’s referring to her cat, Olivia, which links to Taylor. Even obvious one’s like his t-shirt, or the “day we were giving up” (Out of the Woods) reference. “Stain of Red Wine” (Clean.) The butterflies … Another “Clean” reference. “You told me I didn’t give you enough” - I Wish You Would. “I Love You” lyric is referring to his song he gave Alex & Sierra. From all the songs Harry/Taylor have written for each other, there is nothing to do with truth, as they both are very well-aware of them loving each other. So, definitely not for Taylor.

While “Infinity” doesn’t have specific references, they’re more so just general heart break lyrics.

this is weird and sort of morbid i guess but like the fact that nobody found out about jay until after she’d passed like.... that’s just so good. it meant that louis and his family had their time with her and it wasn’t fucking tainted by how awful this fandom can be sometimes. the situation is obviously the absolute fucking worst and i hate that it happened but if it had to happen then at least they got some privacy.

tbh what immediately sprang to mind was the moment in the wwa tour dvd when the boys saw what all the fans had gotten together and done for them like that was really fucking cool for them and so fucking cool that it was at THAT show so we could have that forever like ??????? fuck. sometimes this fandom does good things. idek if that’s an accurate response to this question but fuck if i care.

Drag Me Down was the first single released in 2015, it instantly began to trend on Twitter. It reached the top spot on the US iTunes chart within thirty minutes, breaking the record for fastest song to ever reach number one. It was number one in 90 countries and 65th on Billboards Hot 100 year end chart. It also won the band the 2016 BRIT for Best British Artist.

3. Perfect (Written by Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Julian Bunetta, Jesse Shatkin, Jacob Kasher, John Ryan and Maureen Anne McDonald)

Perfect was the albums second single and I sobbed the first time I heard it and then basically had a one-sided conversation with myself on Facebook messenger because it was like 2am and the friend I was texting was asleep. ANYWAYS It was number one in Ireland, Scotland, and Slovakia. Unfortunately it was number two in the UK. But it was still still their sixth US top hit, beating a record previously held by The Beatles.

Infinity was the third official single, it was certified gold in Italy and number five on a Hungarian music chart.
