my favorite thing about the originals (and this isn't necessarily from a romantic shipping pov) is the growth klayley had as coparents and how they came to have a partnership based on trust and honesty with each other. we see how he comes to value her - despite their unstable dynamic - in little moments sprinkled in season 1, them bonding over their shared love for their child and equally bloodthirsty natures in season 2, klaus trusting her but still following his own impulses even if he does it out of care for hayley and hope... and then they fell apart pretty violently in the back half of season 2 (i don't think the writers had to go to that extreme but it is what is at this point lol). but then with space from each other in season 3 and gradually learning to be around each other they came to an understanding that they would like working together as friends and partners for hope.

and they both stuck to that promise so well! they have a feral protectiveness over each other - which existed even in season 1 and 2 - and are united by trust. their love for hope overpowers all else but they do share affection for each other as well. on hayley's side this is seen with the way hayley ensures that hope sees her father as a "fairytale prince" with the stories she actively chooses to tell (yes, the priority is giving her daughter more than what either she or klaus had but no one goes to the trouble of saying kind words about a coparent they don't on some level admire and care for, i know this from personal experience). despite klaus's past actions she does know there is a part of him that is good and loving and she remains focused on that side both for her daughter's sake but also because she herself sees and experiences it. she even encourages hope in season 5 to see the best in klaus despite him being absentee and the rumors about him going on a rampage. we also see this on klaus's side, with klaus's determination to keep hayley safe because his daughter needs her, in moments sprinkled throughout the show and especially in season 5, and the way he complimented hayley at her grave which tells us how he truly did admire her.

the way they have changed from back half of season 2/early season 3 is particularly important. hayley is adamant that hope should have klaus in her life and deserves to experience the intensity of the mikaelson love - something she wasn't saying in season 2. she also chooses to be honest with klaus - once again something she wasn't doing in season 2 - by telling him that their plan in season 4 that will defeat the hollow means he will never see his daughter again. despite the fact that vincent encouraged her to lie, she trusts and respects klaus's role as a father enough to refuse to do that. it is really sweet how they have this unconditional, unflinching loyalty and trust with one another.

I'll always wonder how Hope felt about her father's relationship with Elijah, especially after her mother died.

For a time, Elijah was responsible for Hayley's death in her eyes, and no one will convince me this wasn't Klaus’s doing. He had spent half of season five brooding because his brother erased their memories, erased him, and repeatedly put their broken brotherhood over his own daughter. Klaus didn't have Camille or Hayley any longer, he didn't have Elijah specifically, who is the person he has the most codependent relationship with in the series and him lashing out because of it quite literally endangered Hayley's life even more.

Marcel pointed it out; he was lashing out because in his eyes, Elijah no longer loved him and had given their family up and that was clouding his judgment, something they couldn't allow with Hayley's life on the line. So it's just very ironic Hayley ended up dying, with only Klaus and Elijah conscious to see it, because by this logic, Klaus clearly told Hope her uncle hadn't saved her mother's life.

It is very much in character for him, especially because Klaus was acting hostile around his brother whenever Hope was around, so I wonder how she felt when she witnessed him quite literally running into his arms the moment Elijah got his memories back and they finally found common ground. Was she bitter, angry, hurt? This is the same man that was visiting Elijah constantly for seven years because he couldn't stay away from him, despite knowing it could potentially endanger his daughter, yet managed to ignore Hope perfectly fine for five-six years.

Of course, Hope eventually managed to find common ground with her uncle as well, but I don't think she actually realizes how screwed up the relationships in her family are, mostly because her family abandoned her and the ones who actually would do anything and everything for her are dead. Especially for a child as young as her, no fifteen-year-old teenager would ever understand why her father chose her "mother's killer" over her own feelings and over her own dead mother.

Because damn, it would hurt me so badly if my father claimed I was the person he loved the most, yet the one he couldn't live without and the one he constantly prioritized over me was his own brother.

What makes Klayley different from other series ships for you?

I am assuming you mean other ships in the orignals by that.

It's the really simple case that's not simple at all. It's the underlying passion between them that just won't go away no matter who they take as a lover. The burning anger, loathing, care, loyalty, and the inexplicably undying connection that keeps them tethered to each other always and forever, come hell or highwater.

Mikael almost killed me and the baby, but i can't help but be more worried about how Klaus suffered all these years, I need to comfort him.

The witches are murdering me and the baby. Forget Elijah , I need Klaus here.

The witches stole baby hope? Not important right now, Hayley's dead, and I need a moment or several to take it all in.

I don't really love Jackson, but Klaus needs me to marry him, so I will.

I have to deal with my newly risen from dead mother and father, but whether Hayley's new husband is treating her right or not is more important.

Hayley tried to run from me, and I am extremely furious, but I can't bear to kill her or physically hurt her.

I will hate Klaus forever, but I can't really hate him at all.

My siblings are in trouble and may need my immediate help, but the road trip with Hayley is the best fun I have had in centuries, and I love it too much to stop now.

I am the strongest and the proudest being on earth. I kneel to no one, especially not to scum like Lucien, but he has Hayley, and I would never let her die. She means too much to me. I have to kneel to save her, no problem, I will do it a thousand times if it's to save her.

I love my Pack a lot, but the Mikaelsons are dying, Klaus is dying, so my pack can go to hell. I will save him and the Mikaelsons even if I die .

I have to let go of my dignity as a wolf and kill, lie, massacre all to save Klaus and Mikaelson family. And I used to have a problem with that, but it's for Klaus, I can't watch him suffer, so i will do it gladly.

Klaus is going around the world, massacring everything in sight and trying to cut contact, but I will never give up on him.

Being in New Orleans near hope will bring forth Apocalyspe that might kill hope, but Hayley's missing, so all else be damned.

I am being killed, and Klaus is being attacked by Elijah. He's hurt, Hope's hurt, so I am going to kill Greta and sacrifice myself for them because Klaus and Hope are my family Elijah be damned.

My daughter is dying and meets me in the afterlife, but the second I hear Klaus's voice, I know all will be alright.

My brother, my companion, my only confidant who I would go insane without is dead to me for good because he killed Hayley, and there's no greater offense than that.

I am in hell. My heart feels empty. Hayley is dead. I can sacrifice Elijah to save hope and kill the hollow, but I vowed to Hayley that I would do anything to save our daughter so I will sacrifice myself. [Also because I can't live without my little wolf]

So yeah, it's you know, soul shattering stuff like this that keeps me hooked to Klayley. Nothing huge. This and all the other essays I wrote should be plenty enough evidence as to why. (Sorry for the late)

the fact that everyone is uncomfortable about bill looking like dipper but the way it effects mabel specifically makes my brain wanna explode

like. "its just as bad as when you did it last year!" that day was so traumatic for both dipper and mabel. ohh my god. "stop making him smile like that!" AAAAAAAAA

the dialogue here. i love it. i love the whole thing but this part. the bill and mabel parts. ohhhhhhh they make me wanna VOMIT (positive)

YAYAYAY YIPPEE YAYYYYY 🧡🧡🧡🧡 Yeah this part was VERY fun to write. Poor Mabel has...a LOT of feelings regarding what happened last year, ESPECIALLY during the events of Sock Opera (lest we forget the little thing mentioned at the end of chapter 3~?).

Also if you're excited about Bill and Mabel interacting, especially when it comes to stuff regarding his appearance, you're in for a real treat in some future chapters 🤭

pretty sure I've seen videos from the srar era where if he had something to say, instead of talking into his mic, joe would say it in the secret earpiece mic and then pete would tell the crowd whatever he said. so yes I think stage fright plays a big role and it looks like he's much more comfortable letting the others speak. but I also love that he DOES interact with the audience a lot. he'll smile and wave or look directly into your eyes and nod when he sees you looking at him. I've seen videos where it looks like he's mouthing the lyrics at someone in the audience who was singing the wrong part. patrick will also smile and nod sometimes but I think joe does it the most and I love it <3

yeah this is not to say they’re sad/they’re miserable/they wish they could speak onstage/it’s just p2 being selfish, or anything of that nature!!! it’s unfortunate that joe doesn’t speak mostly bc i love him so much and that’s why it makes me sad, but you’re totally right that he just interacts with the audience in different ways :) i haven’t seen those sr&r era videos but that is total evidence that it’s just about the stage fright too. (also wait the videos of him mouthing the lyrics at someone singing the wrong part WAGHHHH why haven’t i seen that it sounds so cute 😭💘)
