DA2 (Fake Rival!Warden!Carver banter Act 3)

Hello! This is fake banter I came up with in my free time. Fenris’s dialogue is the only explicitly paired one, but you can read any of them assuming they’re romantic or platonic with Hawke. These also assume everyone gets along with Hawke but they’re not explicitly friendship.

i rlly gotta do more with how my hawke (killian) is a people pleaser, in the worst way

he always says the "nice" thing- doesn't matter what he Believes in

all he knows is if hes honest he loses his his loved ones. if he told anyone bethany and father were mages, theyd get taken away. if he told his mother he wanted to lighten his burdens, shed tell him itd his duty, and at least in his mind, love him less. no matter how he tried to connect with carver, it wasnt enough and now hes dead. so thats how he sees his new friends too. say what you have to, because theyll hate you or leave you if you dont. let them rely on you, because thats what you do. be a good boy. be a strong boy. take care of your siblings. take care of your friends. take care of your city. hold it all in your arms as they crumble and you can do nothing but watch. maybe if you were better. a better son. a better man. better better better-

The funniest fucking shit I saw in a fanfic a year ago and still lives in my mind is: Hawke and Fenris are in a relationship. Hawke is a human. Fenris is a (transmale) elf.

Fenris says "sorry for not being like most people" and Hawke goes "?? Bc ur an elf?? Im not racist" and then AND THEN Fenris goes. ???? Because I was born a woman?

AND HAWKE just "i thought all elves were like that"

i think part of the reason griffith is a character whos so wildly misunderstood a lot of the time is because people take what he says about his feelings as the truth. hes someone whos not really honest about his emotions, even to himself a lot of the time. like for a really obvious example, the "what a friend is to me.." scene. at face value, what he says would say that he doesnt see guts as his friend or equal but its pretty obvious from every interaction between them that that isnt the case.

Something I kind of miss from the current direction of Sonic's character is he felt like a big talker that couldn't take what he dished out (particularly thinking about his exchanges with Shadow in SA2 and Jet in Riders 1, though I don't keep up with the comics.) This doesn't really lead into a specific question but, any thoughts on that?

I don't know if I ever got that vibe. To me, Sonic is a character who knows he can kind of get away with anything. He's too fast for any repercussions to ever catch up to him. He's cocky for a reason, and it's because he's generally untouchable.

More to your point, Shadow (and to a lesser extent, Jet) are characters that finally get on Sonic's level and provide him with a real challenge for once. It's harder for Sonic to brag and back that up.

Even the Sonic OVA eventually gets there. You get a lot of scenes like the above, where Sonic may as well be invincible. But then Metal Sonic shows up and gives him a run for his money.

Technically I suppose that means we're both right. In 99% of scenarios, Sonic is far and away the most powerful character in the room. Conflict arises when they make him actually have to try for once.

In this fandom, it's pretty rare for you as an author to get the opportunity to write Hawk's first erotic anything. We typically lean into the idea that he's as sexually confident with men as he is with women, that he knows the role he likes to play there. If anything, he's usually the one leading an inexperienced person on an intimate journey.

So that being said, I'm really enjoying that STAE is letting me go through so many firsts for Hawk. Midnight Trepidations is gonna have a handful of those, most of which I won't mention because it's more fun to go in and experience it firsthand.

I'll only say this one. It is delightful to write Hawk's first time being a cocktease.

idk if anyone has done this before but da2 au where you think at first its a both twins lived au and then find out bethany died and thats actually non-warden amell posing as her. something something escaped with jowan maybe, found her relatives in lothering, sought refuge with them and when bethany ended up dying it was way lower profile for amell to take the place of her cousin than try to get in to kirkwall with them as a non-immediate family member (especially given that leandra is publicly coming in as an amell and theres a resemblance and its known revka had mage kids taken to the circle and im sure theres a bulletin out or whatever for an escaped apostate matching amells description). points if people comment on how ‘bethany’ clearly takes after her mother. leandra is not normal about it. aveline knew the real bethany at least in passing bc of living in the same town and treats this as a reason for her distrust of hawke and co and one of the reason she sabotages carvers application with the guard.
