Looking back, i think one the things that brought the hater out of me the most during qsmp (regarding the players themselves and the story) was how so many decisions made, and arguments defended, based on ooc criteria.

Like, ok. I love bagi. I adore bagi. I recite prayers for bagi every night before i sleep. I am not saying bagi — or anyone else that wouldve been invited if other ppl won — shouldnt have been invited to the qsmp. But my GOD the opportunity for the election winner to chooses someone to send to what's essentially an open air PRISION is insane to me. No islander fucking WANTS to be there so WHYYYYY would they subject a loved one to the SAME TORTURE??????? (except like bbh inviting skeppy cuz whatever they have going on is kinda weird and they're both old as fuck so who cares)

It is a fun decision out of the rp. It gives the players a nice prize if they manage to win. And it could've stayed at that, an ooc prize. But NO they had to mention it canonically. More then once. So much that some players (cof cof) argued bbh shouldnt win bc he would invite skeppy in a non democratic way. That was a CANNON ARGUMENT. MADE BY A PLAYER.

for simplicity ill break it into three segments: what happened before to set up this chain of events, how and why papyrus does it, and bare bones evidence

1 before deltarune

generally this is working off my "gaster is bad at math theory" which, to summarize, basically says gaster started as a scientist in deltarune with 2 kids (sans and paps) accidentily fucks up the math and teleports to undertale, uses deltarunes superior tech to create the core, fucks up the math and falls in, frisk/player pulls up, after a bit sans and paps dip but gaster fucks up the math postmortem and they get stuck in deltarune resulting in papyrus becoming a hermit who accidentally opens a darkworld in his closet and then does the fucking grinch smile and causes a ruckus

how papyrus does it: something something prophecy, destiny, gaster fuckery, what have you. effectively via the same plot convenient saving grace that allows us to close the darkworlds and control kris

why does he do it: same reason he spares frisk in geno. he sees that characters like kris, berdly, susie and noelle and knows that they can do better, they just need to try. and what better reason to try than life threatening adventure? (sidenote: i fucking despise when people make the excuse of "Oh HeS bEiNg ~MaNiPuLaTeD~ bY ______" like no shut up let papyrus be morally ambiguous dammit) he is also likely aware of the titan situation and is just deadass like "NO I CAN TAKE THEM IN A 1V1 I THINK" also it makes sense narratively due to his incomplete character arc

the closet the chapter 2 darkworld was likely started from can fit and i quote "a large person" (especially combined with the skeletons in my closet line in undertale), he has been set up by sans to have a late game appearance, no alibis in chapter 1 or 2, in chapter 2 the "trousling bones" mentioned when interacting with the door of sans' house grows distant as another darkworld closes, as mentioned in section 2 his arc is still incomplete and as mentioned in my papyrus backstory post we dont even have a clue as to half the shit he's hiding, as a more meta reason bonetrousle was originally the main theme of deltarune, the "secret name" line from papyrus qna 2, the jevil reference dialogue in papyrus qna 2, and probably the most solid motive out of the candidates. that being the fact he believes so much in that people can do good if they try, to exercise that from a more cynical perspective of these beliefs (i.e people wont try unless they have to) could look like forcing them by way of obscure supernatural prophecy and lifechanging perilous adventure

Having the CW be a "junior investor" in Joan was a colossal mistake. ITV did this in the hopes to make this show into multiple seasons and need outside funding to do so and look what's happened. Nonexistent promotion from the CW and it was moved to a diff day and time not even a week after it premiered.

While its great that Joan is doing well in the UK, the US is where the acting jobs are (esp ones that pay well) and the fact that not only do most Americans aren't even aware this show exits, those that do view this as a huge downgrade for Sophie going from a prestigious network/streamer to the CW.

Fingers crossed that "Haven" and "The Dreadful" are critical and box office hits.

When Joan was announced in November 2022, the cw wasn't even mentioned:

Since it was announced, Joan was described as a six-part drama, meaning it was a limited series. Limited series have a predetermined number of episodes. Limited series are not meant to continue.

I now Anna Symon talked in interviews about the possibility of Joan new adventures in an eventual second season, but it was during promotion so I think that was kinda hyping the show, it wasn't anything sure. Also the script is one big flaw that all the negative reviews mentioned, so maybe is better that she wont be writing Joan new adventures . . . .

As for the cw… It can't be that bad if their money made Joan real, right? This project has a long history of attempts to make it real, with Gwyneth Paltrow buying the rights to make a movie with her in the lead role, and at one point it was said that even Madonna wanted to play Joan.

The cw as an associated co-producer was announced on May 2023:

Their role was basically to broadcast the show in the United States.

And the cw entertainment chief Brad Schwartz sounded very excited about the project:

So I don't know what happen for them to do almost zero promotion and then moving the show from Wednesday to Friday.

But the decline of the cw is something that comes long before Joan, it's not Joan's fault or anything. That's one factor why most people in the US don't know about the show, in addition to the lack of promotion.

And it's not a downgrade for people well informed that know this is a British production from ITV. The CW are only the US distributors, basically. They did a terrible job tho.

Meanwhile Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Latin American distributors are doing a great job, as other UK platforms like BBC Player and STV. Even Apple TV did a better job . . . .

And regarding US audiences and Hollywood jobs, I think with Sophie's decision to move back to the UK also comes a decision to focus on British jobs and productions, like Haven and The Dreadful.

For Gojo—as a unit, i wanna say that hes either the strongest unit currently or some kind of nuts shielder. Its an either or because duh. Bruv is Quite Literally The Strongest and Quite Literally Untouchable.

If were going with the former, aka the strongest—id say that he would be what is currently considered the meta, which is Acheron. I dont have an Acheron, but my friend does and she lent me her account so i can build her Acheron and other units and LET ME TELL YOU. HOLY SHIT. Even unbuilt, Acheron hits like a motherfucker dawg. Its genuinely crazy. Her Technique as well (heh) also lets her oneshot almost anything which is also inline with how he works. Jeez, i should probably go back to building her account...

If were going with the latter, aka nuts shielder ala Infinity, i was thinking either Fu Xuan or Aventurine—but settled on Fu Xuan as it filled out more of what Gojo could do. While she does actually take damage, as she directs damage to herself, she heals it all back which honestly?? Amazing symbolism for Gojo tbh—considering the fact that hes the most important figure in Jujutsu society, everyone would be fucking gunning for him man. And he'd just as easily bounce back and brush it all off with a quick smile and Purple. And speaking of purple—esteemed colleague, that is Just Her Ultimate.

But yeah—Gojo would be either Acheron or Fu Xuan, depending on what aspect of him were focusing on.

Geto Suguru:

I'm gonna admit—this one was a little hard for me because who tf uses summons. And then it hit me.

Dear lord, my boy is just Topaz. Or Jing Yuan. LMAO—

Makes sense tho mechanically—Geto's technique is all about summoning curses to fight. Either for him or with him. Its just that the choice between Topaz and Jing Yuan capitalizes on what sort of fighting styles Geto wants to use. Topaz is more reliant on Numby doing damage, while Jing Yuan can do damage on his own without the help of Lightning Lord. This means then that Topaz is if Geto wants his curses to fight for him, and Jing Yuan is if he wants to fight with his curses.

Also the fact that I considered Sushang for him just because she summons a giant fucking chicken for her ult is. W o w .

Not Gallagher, since w've never seen her in a combat situation and we have no idea what pure RCE can do to a curse—and before you say im wrong, nuh uh dawg—youre thinking about Reverse Cursed TECHNIQUE. I'm talking energy. The two are very different. Thats like saying putting the car in reverse is the same as using diesel instead of gas. Luocha is also a no go since, if she can just cast a Simple Domain that heals everyone in range, JJK would be a completely different story. And, as much as this pains me to say it—she cant be Huohuo either, because if her healing people would also replenish their CE, JJK would be a different story—at the very least with more people alive in it lmao

And so. This leaves us with our F2P basic units. Lynx and Natasha. Which... honestly? Its weirdly fitting and cathartic in a strange sort of way. Its guaranteed they'd be there to help because you receive them as units early on in the game—just as guaranteed that Shoko would be there to help and heal any and all sorcerers who come to her. All units need healing, in any way shape and form—without em making sure our teams our alive, we quite literally cannot get thru half the content of the game. I would know, that friend DID NOT build any of their sustains. Constantly fighting for my life until I built Gallagher lmao.

But yeah—unit wise, it does fit. They both mainly are there to give healing and basic support to the units, without drastically buffing them or debuffing their opponents. Theyre just there to make sure the team is alive, and honestly? 🫡 you go babe. heres a free cigarette, on me.

Nanami Kento:

Immediately I knew what the fuck I wanted him to be. Break effect character. Aka, current meta. So, obviously he'd be Boothill and Robin right?? Well—not exactly...

He'd deffo be Boothill thats for sure, but not so much Robin. Nanami's powerset is pretty simple—he focuses on a target and then, depending on his goal and/or amount of cursed energy, proceeds to put a weak point on them of which to hit. He can't be Robin because of how she works—she needs to transform via Ult to deal that optimal break damage and strike weak points despite whatever shes facing not having a fire element weakness. Whereas Nanami can just hit, without needing to transform into something else or needing a cursed tool or something.

For a little bit there, I considered Xueyi but ulimately said no because of her follow up and her being able to attack multiple enemies at once. While yes, I can flavor the follow up as a black flash or something (even though i really shouldn't since black flashes are based off luck and "being in the zone"), the multiple targets thing I really couldn't ignore because we've never seen him attack multiple targets at once—the closest thing we have is him being fast enough and strong enough to one shot curses back to back.

I was left with Sushang and Luka at this point, and ended up with Sushang. I was already settled with Sushang, when I remembered that Luka existed lmao—but decided to give him a shot anyways. I shouldn't have given him that shot because he doesn't fit Nanami as a unit. He's a Nihility "charge" unit—charge in the sense of, he needs to build up a certain stack to properly break and deal damage. When you relate that to Nanami, it doesn't work. Like I said, Nanami is simple and straight-forward, no muss and no fuss. There's a lot of mussing and fussing around with Luka that doesn't mesh well, along with the whole debuff thing Nihility has going—Nanami doesn't do that kind of DOT damage in the series, and doesn't deal too much of a handicap that I could consider it.

Nanami being Boothill and Sushang makes sense to me too. Nanami is a relatively fast person, being able to kind of run on water, fend off dozens of curses at the same time whilst taking minimal damage, and keep up with a Mahito that transformed himself into being really fast, and hits hard—both with the boost and assistance of his technique and without it. Like—he canonically killed Haruta 6 times. Were it not for his Luck Technique, his skull would've been pulverized by the first punch.

Boothill and Sushang's entire deal is to hit hard and hit fast—or at the very least, stay ahead of their opponents in the turn order via Break—Weakness, Super, or otherwise. Boothill's mechanics are a little more complicated than Sushang's but they're relatively simple and tracks with how Nanami works—he can force element weakness (Nanami's CT), hits really good and really hard to those he's focused on/appiled weakness on (nanami's CT again), and is able to clear out multiple enemies at once/inquick succession despite being a single target focus due to how strong and fast he is (nanami's CT and fighting style in general). Sushang's mechanics are much more barebones—she hits hard and she hits fast, which is basically the essence of Nanami in battle.

Motherfucker dude, this one is EASY—my boy is OBVIOUSLY Pompom. BUT NO WAIT IM BEING FR THO—we barely see him in both the manga and the anime, and I even looked up whether or not he's a playable unit in JJK Cursed Clash or JJK Phantom Parade. He's not there dawg. i dont have muuuuch more atm bc i. im dumb and i never write them down. but rn i have a hc that pillager patrols do some sort of recruiting, bc you never see children among illagers, so where would they get new people? they probably 'recruit' (aka, kidnap) villagers who are outstanding or 'gifted' (like, who probably have some ounce of magic, so they'd go through some training and would become evokers). this could also happen to the babies villagers who weren't killed during a raid.

less likely and i'd have to do some more thinking and researching to develop this other hc but maybe we dont see their kids bc they live somewhere else while growing up. underground? in some of the hidden rooms in the mansions? a completely different place? who knows! maybe they have a some sort of quarters or district where they all go through some thorough training before they're old and/or good enough to join the patrols and raids. also, i believe in the pillager<vindicator<evoker hierarchy. pillagers can work their way up to vindicators, but evokers are their own thing, if you dont have magic abilities you cant become an evoker, which makes them rare and powerful and all that. idk where the illusioners fall into this tho, as unused mobs i know very little of them, but i'd say somewhere above vindicator and below evoker, could probably work its way up to an evoker through training.

in my perspective, patrols, as well as all illagers groups, are like an attempt at some sort of oppressive government (or maybe religious group?). the patrols are, well, as the name suggests, a patrol, they're keeping watch and looking for any 'trouble', attacking villagers and golems probably to scare them. Raids are more destructive, i'd say they're caused by a threat to the illagers (like the player, despite said player's reputation w the raided village, although i like to believe that, in this worldbuilding, thats not the only reason they raid a village) and not only attack the player, but also the village, killing every adult villager, taking their sources and children, leaving a clear message of what's waiting for the others if they dont behave.

as for the villagers, they're pretty much defenceless in these situations, unable to harm literally anything. you could even hc that they're vegetarians, since all they eat are vegetables and bread, despite butchers selling meat and stew. why are they so pacific? they dont each other, other villages, mobs, nothing, and any villager who's relocated to another village will get along w them just fine, despite biome difference. you could try a religious approach to this. their only defence is the iron golems, who show up naturally or summoned by the villagers, another thing that could be explored through a religious approach (which, imo, is probably different than the illagers religion, if we go that way). the only way for a villager to turn hostile is, again, turned into a witch or a zombie, which immediately outcasts them.

you could also think 'huh, so to be accepted by the villagers you have to be passive, the moment you turn hostile, you're not welcome anymore', and yeah, pretty much if you ignore the golems ability to kill mobs (they're more like neutral mobs i think). makes sense when it comes to the player as well, w the whole gossip and reputation thing when the player saves or trades or kills/harms a villager, but theres math to that so i wont touch it lol. overall the villagers are major pacifists, shame the illagers are totally taking advantage of them.

this is all losely based on my own knowledge w minecraft, there might be some stuff that goes against game rules but who cares, im having fun. i probably have more thoughts but i forgor, will bring them to you once i remember/have more <3

Hey, what's your favorite Dont Starve Character(by Lucy from last post I would guess Woody) and why you preffer this character, also whats your least favorite one. And besides of that, any advices for a person that just starts to learn drawing? (like i sketch a bit from time to time with pencil or on secondhand graphics tablet (small wacoom one) for relax but i would like to draw more often and try to improve my skill from almost zero XD, and do you have any advice about shaky line in digital? Like sure I can use stabilizer setting, but if i put it too high i draw hella slow, and if its too small its too shaky(I use fire alpaca and medibang if it has anything to do with it).

I am playing as him since 2018 so even before he got his update. Why? well, he has Lucy- undestructible axe that you cant get rid of (you can actually abuse it bc by design its a flint axe and you can switch a 1% durability one into Lucy, giving other player the brand new) and i vibe a lot with him regarding his backstory. Also most friends i played with are Wendy, Willow, Wortox, Wickerbottom, Warly and Wx players- so we have fire and charcoal, attacker, healing, quickstart with backpacks, food making and a aguy who goes head first underground- but no real gatherers.

Before updates he was just a "chop chop" guy that could go insane if he did it too much (rel) so you had to balance it with planting and cutting down the trees. After his character refresh it he became ace of all trades- he can gather wood, stone, grass saplings as a beaver, he can kill hoardes of hounds and spiders and even the Deerclops as a moose, he can locate lunar island and discover the map as goose.

And after skilltree update he can even create a helmet and +15% speed walking cane- tho other perks regarding his wereforms i think make his character too easy, especially when you earn points by playing as him so you KNOW his weaknesses and learn how to work with them, to just turn them off (hunger and sanity).

He is useful in every situation in my eyes. And i like bringing 5 stacks of wood in first 3 days. Also i learned to kite treeguards :D

I dont really mind any characters. All of them are pretty balanced and dont have annoying drawbacks that makes me not want to touch them-i simply prefer Woodie. But i aint fond of one decision Klei made regarding Wortox, Wurt, Wormwood and Wanda, so all purchasable ones-not because of mechanics tho.

Why do they have ghost models corresponding to their equipped skins, but not other characters? I want wood themed Woodie transformations too q-q even Abigail has her own skins whyyyyy

Regarding drawing i dont really have good tips. The only ones that are coming to my mind is

breaking model into geometric shapes might help (thats how i draw most of the time and its visible in my sketches)

referencing instead of tracing, even badly referenced helps you more with drawing

using your own hands as a reference is enough XD and its not cheating to look out poses

the more you draw something the better you get at it

you can actually make black shadows work but it will make it seem flat, dark purple set on multiply is enough to me but it depends on artstyle i noticed

Those happened to me:

you may see a lot of mistakes in your own artwork more often than others so dont fret abt it. But if you really are anxious (like me) you can go back to look at it some time after finishing.

you dont have to draw everything in every style. Its no artschool here and you are mostly drawing for yourself anyway. Tho dont use it as an excuse to only draw one thing, try something new from time to time.

custom brushes are cool and dont be afraid to experiment with them. Who knows, it may become your go-to/default brush.

harder pencils dont erase that well but are good with details and leave a lighter mark, als you probably wont need a whole set of 'em i am using like 3 at most (5H, HB, H)

even tho i have a sketchbook on myself 24/7 i still end up drawing in notebooks because i think "its not good enough for a sketchbook"- no, SKETCHbook, its meant for doodling so do it there and you will have a way to track your progress (i myself have a whole DRAWER of papers that i sometimes look through and let me tell ya, seeing that progress is noice)

i knooow they may seem generic but everyone has a different way of drawing and some things may or may not work for them. and i never went to artschool im self taught tho i learned a lot by looking at other artists and watching speedpaints.

With Stabilization- I didnt really use FireAlpaca or Medibang, but I remember that when i was using my old One by Wacom tablet i did had it on like 7 in SAI, because my hand was trained well enough to not shake so much but i needed it to be more precise. I would try drawing a zig zag and waves on the lowest setting and then increase it until you can draw sharp edges and smooth curves at the same time, with line following your pen path as close as possible. The slower you draw lines the more precise it gets.

it might be a bit different in each program especially with different ranges of stabilization but it might be similar to what i have here.

It could be issue of a compatibility between tablet and program, but i checked for myself and it shouldnt be it, tho it doesnt really make it impossible.

I have met so many people of different backgrounds through this fandom, but you know what tends to be a common link for them?

This has become quite the sore spot among the community, especially with black and brown players because why would you bring such an awful topic up through one of your own LIs. It doesn't add anything to the story, the one conversation it's brought up in doesn't explain why exactly he cut them off besides just "oh because they were bigots teehee" when those sort of conversations Need to be fully explored in order to be conveyed well because otherwise you're tackling on the fact that Baxter could have easily internalized those white supremacist values. We need to know what he did to unlearn them, but in a game like Our Life, why bring it up then if you're not going to explain it in depth.

So that brings the question of whose comfort was this inclusion for? It's not for black or brown players. It's not for Muslim or Jewish players. And sure as fuck it ain't gay people. White people who are born majorly christian in their beliefs? Most likely, because they won't feel targeted by these people, but in a game that's main selling point is supposed to be safe for LGBT+ people and people of color, they sure as hell decided to alienate a good chunk of their playerbase for white people who didn't need that comfort.

It's a stupid inclusion that didn't need to be in the game. Everyone before the initial beta of that section was released thought his parents were just helicopter parents who just sucked and that was fine? But making them white supremacists??? It's so obvious she wanted to include something like this but gave it no nuance and how it would affect the player's views on Baxter.

TLDR, if you're not going to make a poignant point in your stories to actively be ten toes into explaining white supremacy and how your LI had to unlearn it due to being raised by white supremacists then you shouldn't include it point blank. The fact that hasn't been taken out yet proves to me that Kab really thought it's fine and is not trying to make Baxter's route a safe playthrough for people of color like Cove and Derek are.

really interesting how in kageyama's flashback we see kindaichi yell and tell kageyama his tosses are reckless and whats the point if they cant even spike them, and then internally kageyama is like 'but we can't win if we can't get past their blockers.' his initial reaction is actually about the team and not about his teammates sucking at all, but then he starts to spiral thinking about losing, about not being able to play anymore, about this ending (screams in manga spoilers) and so what he actually says to kindaichi is the infamous 'move faster jump higher!' and obviously they all get offended by that. but the characterization is what's so cool to me there, his main issue here is his lack of communication—how differently would his teammates have reacted if he had just expressed the bit about not being able to get past them? and then much later in the series when he's feeling similarly trapped he does the same thing, he stops talking—except now hinata calls him out for being quiet, and they can right things again (iirc this is in seijoh 1), and i just. the attention to detail to characterization is so good!! the character threads are so consistent!!

its been four episodes and we're already starting to see this come to fruition—and yet it only keeps getting better!! this show is insane
