Note
I’m kinda wondering how you’re dealing with the frustration from the situation, as well, a fellow American. Its frustrating trying to explain to my 60 year old parents that you can’t call it a war when the causalities are 1,600:26,000 and have to just be told “war is always ugly, countries have rights to defend themselves” BS or well seeing our lovely nation spew more shit on the matter and American news channels interviewing IDF soldiers. Biggest pig alive bill Maher meeting with other white men to talk about how “young people don’t know what they’re talking about”
I feel frustrated towards my nation and the efforts being put in because the disillusionment doesn’t come from like wanting to give up or anything like that, but doing everything in your power to want to help people who are suffering only to takes 4 steps backwards bc of some ailing white man. I feel so embarrassed towards Palestine because my nation is putting blood on their soil, it’s like screaming at the top of your lungs but they only fill with water. Gah sorry to rant I’m just home right now and thus have no one to talk to about it without starting an argument
first of all, im not america, im actually from north africa, living in europe! my entire family is aggresively pro-palestine, so thankfully no problems there.
it's incredibly frustrating to see other people be so ignorant and stupid! the media is trying very hard to push a narrative, but it isn't an excuse for anyone to not see that it is simply a genocide and nothing else. all the signs are there and more importantly, all the evidence of a genocide are there. i understand your emotions completely! the western media outlets are so so so biased and often just blatantly wrong in the articles they write that it makes me angry everytime i read them. living in the west means you practically have no voice. it's always freedom this democracy that but the fact that no country is doing ANYTHING despite all the demonstrations and vocal support for palestine is very telling on every government. but we should never lose hope, the difference between the attitude towards the genocide before and after this war is huge, there is progress that is being made. and we should also try our best to changte the mindset of the people around us. that is in my opinion so important! "it's like screaming at the top of your lungs but they only fill with water" is very well said. i can only imagine how it must be to actually have to live with people that don't want to see. i really wish you the best of luck!!

my eda recs :) for anyone interested in getting into this series
i am prefacing this post with the note that i am an avid completionist and generally dislike telling people to skip certain books unless it's a john peel novel or placebo effect. however i understand telling people to read 74 novels is not at all accessible and i need you all to read. these books. please. please
this post is going to be long as shit i know it so i'm putting it ↓ here. books that can be skipped because theyre a bit shit will be colored red, ones that you Can Skip but are good/have some important character or plot bits in will be orange, and ones that are sooo good and necessary and the best books ever will be green. unfortunately i think a lot of the ones colored orange should be colored green but i know restraint. i can stay my hand. kind of
also i should say that i primarily read these for the characters - the plots themselves come second. so lots of my opinions come from the standpoint of which books have good characterizations. basically some of the ones that i color green would probably be skippable if any normal person were reading them but i'm insane!! and this is my list so fuck you!!!
The Eight Doctors by Terrance Dicks: ah my color trichotomy has bitten me in the ass on the first book. because truth be told i still haven't finished this one (nor have i really felt the need to yet), yet it introduces the first companion in the series, sam jones, and contains some other entertaining parts like the doctor getting caught with cocaine. as far as introductory books go it's meh
Vampire Science by Kate Orman and Jonathan Blum: this book. i truly can't sing my praises any louder than i already have. orman & blum took the character of the eighth doctor as portrayed by paul mcgann in a few measly minutes of screen time into a fully fleshed out, compelling and complex character. if you're a fan of the eighth doctor but aren't interested in reading all of the EDAs you have to read this one at the Very Least. it begins, as all good stories do, in a gay bar. it features vampire squirrels, the doctor with kittens, and the doctor infodumping on the beauty of science in a speech? conversation? that still touches me to this day, four years after i first read it.
The Bodysnatchers by Mark Morris: this book is Gross, and i mean that positively. mark morris held nothing back when describing how disgusting and putrid london was in the 1800s (he's primarily a horror writer, and that comes through rather clearly in this book). i genuinely enjoyed this novel a lot, but i know it's not for everyone because again, it's quite gory and disgusting
Genocide by Paul Leonard: don't you just want to see the doctor in a sun hat? being tortured for weeks on end? don't you want to examine his morality in termsof what species he thinks needs to be saved or doomed? jo grant is there
War of the Daleks by John Peel: fuck john peel all my homies hate john peel. for some reason all his books in this range contain daleks and it’s like…why. get some creativity. everyone else did. bitch
Alien Bodies by Lawrence Miles: this novel is So Good. it introduces faction paradox, the war in heaven plotline, humanoid tardises, and a couple of the most interesting & fun side characters in the whole range (homunculette and marieeee <3 cousin justineeee… aaaaaaahh). I shan’t spoil the entire conceit of the story but just know it’s. insane and fucked up and so so funny
Kursaal by Peter Anghelides: this is just a solid doctor who story, really. i wouldn’t call it imperative to the overarching plot of the novels (as tenuous as it is early on), but it’s an enjoyable enough read. it’s about an ancient race of alien werewolves underneath a theme park. what more can i say
Option Lock by Justin Richards: i recall enjoying the doctor and sam’s characterization in this one, and the story is like doctor strangelove meets, well, doctor who. it’s skippable, but i had fun reading it, and that’s really all you can ask for
Longest Day by Michael Collier: this is the start of the arc where sam gets separated from the doctor. actually the most tense and stressed i’ve been reading the edas was reading this and the next three books. it’s so dire, but it’s so so good, with incredible character moments from sam and the doctor. plus you have anstaar, nashaad with his metal legs, and some really fucked up body horror involving Time messing with people’s existences and driving ppl mad and stuff. people tend to either love this one or hate it from what i’ve seen, and i’m solidly in the former category. would definitely recommend
Legacy of the Daleks by John Peel: ughhhhhhhh… ughhhhjhhhhhh i guess you have to read this one. i guess you have to. it’s definitely an improvement on his last book but still. daleks again john? really? whateverrrrr.. some important stuff happens to susan is in this one though. and the master as well. so if you care about either of those characters you should read this i suppose
Dreamstone Moon by Paul Leonard: a general rule of the edas is paul leonard always writes excellent books (in my opinion, anyway), and this is not the exception. sam and the doctor are still separated, but they’re in the same place and keep missing each other and its like UGGHHHH!!! UGHHH!!! but you have interesting commentary on capitalism’s exploitation and effective revolutionary action and all that stuff. also aloisse is an incredible character and i love her
Seeing I by Kate Orman and Jonathan Blum: HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LIRD!!!!!!!!!!! kate and jon do it again, those crazy bastards. you know how every author loves torturing the shit out of eight? these guys take that and run with it in the opposite direction, asking the question what if the worst thing the doctor could go through isn’t agonizing torture, but rather just a lack of enrichment in his enclosure? what if he had to stay locked up in one building for three years and couldn’t escape for the life of him? meanwhile sam, now a refugee with no social support (as she technically shouldn’t exist in this time and location), has to deal with homelessness, and has to decide whether it’s better to have a stable, yet soulless corporate job - or do something that’s meaningful and benefits society. she’s at her best in this book for sure
Placebo Effect by Gary Russell: throws up. don’t read this because it is actually rhe worst book in the whole range and i’m not joking. sorry gary you’re a nice guy but i thought the arguments against evolution that went on for like 3 pages were extremely egregious and also plain wrong. you may look at this book and think “oh cool! Stacy and ssard from the comics are in this one!” well they’re there for like a paragraph and don’t do shit. so
Vanderdeken's Children by Christopher Bulis: really fun novel that’s pretty much the epitome of the classic doctor who question “wouldn’t that be really fucked up and crazy?” it also established the fact that the doctor told sam his real name which is really fun and awesome
The Scarlet Empress by Paul Magrs: much like paul leonard, paul magrs Never disappoints. this book is just so fucking fun. in essence, it’s a road trip story. they drive across a planet listening to abba and visiting lots of kooky places and picking up lots of wacky characters. it also deconstructs gender and self-identity and what it means to be an individual. a cyborg and a giant spider get lesbian married. aewsome 👍
The Janus Conjunction by Trevor Baxendale: i really debated on making this one skippable, i did. because while it doesn’t continue any of the established plots or themes or whatever, it does show the doctor breaking the laws of time to save his companion’s life, and that’s really cool we love that. there’s a lot of fun body horror too if you go for that sort of thing. and more giant spiders but these ones are different
Beltempest by Jim Mortimore: ok honestly? i didn’t vibe with this one. i know some people really liked it but i felt as if the characterization was Off. some wacky wild stuff happens to sam though
The Face-Eater by Simon Messingham: <-doesn’t remember much of this one cuz i was high while reading it. i think it was a solid story though?
The Taint by Michael Collier: yayyyyyyyy fitz is hereeeee my babyboy… lots of people don’t vibe with this one but i do. because i love fitz and everything he’s in and him and the doctor are such bastards to each other in the beginning it’s great. their repartee is genuinely so entertaining and really elevates the book for me, even if the plot itself is a bit mediocre. either way even if you don’t like it you have to read it because it introduces fitz. so there
Demontage by Justin Richards: telling you to skip this one would be a disservice. because technically it Is skippable, but it has some absolutely hilarious moments that really drive home the fact that fitz is Cringe. they’re on a space casino called vega in the far future and fitz dresses in a (from everyone else's perspective) old-fashioned tuxedo. he smokes indoors and everyone gives him nasty looks because he’s in the future and no one smokes inside. he asks for his cocktails shaken not stirred and the bartender fucking hates him. and he also accidentally gets involved in an assassination plot. but i suppose if you must skip it then go ahead…
Revolution Man by Paul Leonard: mr leonard does it again. this is an excellent novel for both companions that begins with sam and the doctor engaging in leftist discourse with an anarchist and ends with the world almost ending. it happens.
Dominion by Nick Walters: you have to read this one just for the doctor’s first gay kiss. sorry i don’t make the rules. also it  just features a neat concept imo and has a great moment where the doctor punches a pillow in frustration and then sadly apologizes to it
Unnatural History by Kate Orman and Jonathan Blum: this book is one that i think every doctor who fan who’s ever gotten mad about canon not making sense should be forced at gunpoint to read. it’s a novel that’s essentially one big metacommentary on doctor who canon & why it Doesn’t Matter At All, Actually; the doctor was birthed and he was loomed and both are equally true and untrue. also features the iconic paragraph calling the doctor a (verbatim) “backrub slut”, as well as wrapping up the ongoing arc with sam jones hinted at in alien bodies and a few other books in a way that’ll have you side eyeing moffat very suspiciously
Autumn Mist by David A. McIntee: this one’s pretty good and has a couple great moments (fitz calling himself james bond, for one), but is, i think, ultimately skippable unless youre a world war 2 buff
Interference Books 1 & 2 by Lawrence Miles: nothing i can say will adequately put into words what these two novels made me feel, you hear me? absolutely nothing. good fucking god. jesus christ. holy fuck.. if i sat here listsing all the important and iconic moments in these books we’d be here all shitting day and this post is already obscenely long. read these 2 books. then read them again.
The Blue Angel by Paul Magrs: ok i know i just said this but HOOOOOO..WHOA NELLY! the blue angel is easily in my top 5 edas. it literally heavily features a canon domestic au wherein the doctor is a “middle-aged gay man”. fitz says he wants to get laid by the doctor. the doctor’s mother is a mermaid. there’s off-brand spirk. someone turns into a giant squid. literally this book is so good they wrote a screenplay adaptation of it and a spinoff short story that you should also read
The Taking of Planet 5 by Simon Bucher-Jones and Mark Clapham: you’re going to be hearing this a lot from me but we Are entering the part of the series where it really takes off and gets sooo fucking good. anyway this novel is sooo fucking good and quite important to the plot and establishes stuff about the war in heaven and gallifrey so. read it. also there's ELDRITCH BEASTS!
Frontier Worlds by Peter Anghelides: i can’t tell you to skip this one because it’s so good. fitz goes by the alias frank sinatra & also talks like him for a solid portion of the book. we get excellent compassion moments. great doctor moments (including that Hot and Sexy dream he has about the tardis!) and all in all it’s a wonderful story
Parallel 59 by Stephen Cole and Natalie Dallaire: lots of stuff happens in this one, especially to fitz. by that i mean it gets referenced quite a bit later so i would recommend if you want to catch all the references. also a woman worked on this one so you already know eight is going to be written phenomenally and very sensually.
The Shadows of Avalon by Paul Cornell: rather important development happens to compassion in this book (understatement). but it’s also a really good story in general with lots of memorable bits - paul cornell wrote one EDA and did a great job and then vanished from the range. it also has the BRIGADIER and his ROMANCE with MAB the BIG BOSOMED CELTIC QUEEN so like.. read it??
The Fall of Yquatine by Nick Walters: a pretty important thing happens to compassion in this one too (another understatement). also withnail & i references galore, fitz has a bad time (has he had a Good time for the past few books? questionable!), and the doctor spends time with a gay baker/contraband parts dealer
Coldheart by Trevor Baxendale: you could skip this one but why would you even want to? it’s literally one of compassion’s best stories and has plenty of excellent doctor and companion moments. it’s just fun and engaging and an outstanding doctor who story. and, as always, fitz is effortlessly cringe as ever <3
The Space Age by Steve Lyons: this one’s just boring and kinda stupid. nothing big or important happens and you can tell steve lyons didn’t care for writing compassion at all. skip it
The Banquo Legacy by Andy Lane and Justin Richards: Big Plot Developments in this one - mostly in the beginning and end. also the only (?) mention of irving braxiatel in the whole run! it’s written from the POV of two Normal people not on the tardis so it’s interesting to see how they perceive the doctor and fitz, and how this contradicts the way they define themselves in other books where we’re privy to their internal monologue
The Ancestor Cell by Peter Anghelides and Stephen Cole: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHH AAAAGHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAUAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU HFHOA8U8OIA AOUIY4P98 YT39 7UGHYIB3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FUCKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this one drives me insane and there are parts of it i reread nearly every day. because i’m CRAZY. it’s a controversial novel in the doctor who fandom because of how it handles gallifrey and faction paradox lore but WHO FUCKING CARES? FATHER KREINER IS BACK BABY
The Burning by Justin Richards: this is the start of the Earth Arc, so it’s the first portrayal of the doctor stuck on earth without any of his memories. it’s a bit slow at the beginning, and as a normal doctor who story i would consider it subpar, but the characterization of the doctor really carries it i think. you see how losing his memory impacted his restraint with things such as hypnosis and Other Stuff I Shan’t Spoil
Casualties of War by Steve Emmerson: this has the first appearance of the Note, so it’s especially important for that reason. but it’s also just a neat story that has way more elements of a fantasy than a sci fi and again, seeing how the doctor acts now, stuck on earth without his memories, and juxtaposing that with how he acted before, super fun and neat
The Turing Test by Paul Leonard: if i could graft this book onto my DNA i would. i already KNEW the circumstances surrounding alan turing’s death and yet i still cried about it while reading this!! paul leonard’s portrayal of turing as both a gay and autistic man (though the latter is never explicitly stated) is INCREDIBLE and i really can’t recommend it enough just based on that. but the story itself is amazing and really delves into the doctor’s Differences and his desperation to leave earth after being stuck there for decades.
Endgame by Terrance Dicks: people really like this one and i guess i had fun with it but i just can’t really get into terrence dicks’ writing style. that being said it features the doctor listless and just so sad and depressed so you kind of have to read it. if that’s not reason enough there’s a fat gay alcoholic spy who absolutely rocks
Father Time by Lance Parkin: i hate that this is green. i hate it. i hate this fucking book. i hate lance parkin also. but this is where miranda (the doctor’s adopted daughter) is introduced so alas, you must read it and imagine a version of this book thats infinitely better in your head. sorry!
Escape Velocity by Colin Brake: this one’s mid but it’s the end of the earth arc and fitz and the doctor reunite and ANJI KAPOOR IS HERE!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!! so if you read this and get a lil bored just know it’s about to get so fucking good you guys
EarthWorld by Jacqueline Rayner: genuinely can’t say enough good things about this one. it’s funny. it’s angsty. it’s all in all just a really fun book. and it’s the shortest one i think so like you have no excuse to not read it
Fear Itself by Nick Wallace: this is technically a PDA because it was written after nine was announced, thereby making 8 technically a “past doctor”, but who give a shit. read this one are yoyu kidding me. read it read it read it read it READ IT. there’s a twist in it that rendered me absolutely catatonic for about a week
Vanishing Point by Stephen Cole: don’t skip this one even though it’s orange. are you listening to me? don’t fucking skip it ok!!! steve cole is the #1 fitz/eight shipper and this really shines through here. also maybe i’m just easily entertained by reasonably accurate science in my doctor who books but i liked all the genetics references
Eater of Wasps by Trevor Baxendale: trevor you sly dog you did it again. you mad bastard. not only is the storyline in this one soo gripping and also Quite horrifying but the characterization?? hoooooo boy. this is the book where “you really love him, don’t you?” “well, i like to think we’re just good friends.” comes from and so even if it was dogshit you’d have to read it just for that like cmon
The Year of Intelligent Tigers by Kate Orman: holy. fucking. shit. good grief. the doctor has a boyfriend and they go on picnics and drink chocolate martinis together. the doctor becomes a catboy for a few months. this story takes place on a colony world whose culture is predominantly centered around music, so you have the doctor playing his violin (hot). you have scientifically accurate zoology/xenobiology. you have a Mysterious lost civilization. most importantly you have fitz’s song he wrote for the doctor
The Slow Empire by Dave Stone: this one’s just FUNNY okay. dave stone has such a characteristic way of writing prose it’s just kind of a joy to read. if you get the hard copy all of the bits from a side character’s pov is written in comic sans. while some of the characterization is a bit meh and anji didn’t Really live up to her full potential in a couple scenes i’d still recommend it. there’s footnotes
Dark Progeny by Steve Emmerson: this is another one i colored orange even though i whole-heartedly recommend it.. it’s a commentary on corporate apathy and greed and how it destroys entire planets and just a really engaging story besides. not to mention we get a “fitz fitz fitz fitz fitz!” bit from 8 <3
The City of the Dead by Lloyd Rose: i can’t even talk about this oine lest i lose my mind… not joking when i say lloyd rose writes some of the best and juiciest angst in the whole series like some of the scenes in there made me feel like i was being helplessly entrapped in flowing grain for a month
Grimm Reality by Simon Bucher-Jones and Kelly Hale: i really do sound like a broken record at this point but this is another one of those books i could never say enough positive things about. there are two novels in this series that genre-hop and this is one of them. the tardis lands on a world where everything runs on logic straight out of the brother’s grimm (hence the title). there’s magic cloaks and evil stepsisters and giants, and the doctor, fitz, and anji all have their own separate adventures so it’s super interesting to see how each character deals with being in a fairytale. not only that but there are parts of the book written in the style of those old fairytales and i really do get a good kick out of  gimmicky stuff like that
The Adventuress of Henrietta Street by Lawrence Miles: buckle the fuck up everyone and get out your highlighters and sticky notes because this one is so fucking dense you’ll have no choice but to annotate and take notes, sorry! it’s written in the style of a historical nonfiction which occasionally falls flat (where’s the fucking works cited, lawrence???), but the story is fucking crazy. you got arcane rituals, prostitutes doing sex magic that summon great apes, sabbath is here, the doctor is weak and sickly (always awesome), sabbath is here, the doctor gets married so he can save the earth, sabbath is here,
Mad Dogs and Englishmen by Paul Leonard: this is the petplay book featuring multicolored poodles that have human hands. need i say more?
Hope by Mark Clapham: not the best book but it’s got some pretty crucial anji moments in, and we all love love love anji so much so we’ll read mediocre novels just for her!! (but we also see the doctor struggle with only having one heart so that’s fun too)
Anachrophobia by Jonathan Morris: literally my top 3 book in the series EASY. it takes place on a planet ravaged by a time war (as in a war that fights with weapons that fuck with time. not like That time war), yet despite that particular futuristic conceit the entire atmosphere of the book feels like something out of the 40s or 50s  - almost like the aesthetics of fallout, but instead of nuclear radiation it’s Time. most of the story takes place in this sealed off bunker that’s doing experiments to try and develop time travel, and while they’re successful in going back in time the guinea pigs who volunteered for the trial develop an illness that fucks up their personal timelines so bad they literally turn into clock zombies. and it’s contagious. but no one can leave because theres fucked up time outside uh oh!!! if you liked the themes of war profiteering from boom in the new season you’ll LOVE this book
Trading Futures by Lance Parkin: fuck you lance parkin i can’t stand your ass! you can’t fucking write for shit!!! i’d recommend this book if you want to see anji referred to as ‘the asian woman’ more than her actual name :) and a southeast asian character with a name that might as well have been taken right out of a book written by  jk rowling. really the only good part of this book is when anji almost calls the doctor an otter-fucker
The Book of the Still by Paul Ebbs: this book is a WILD fucking ride. this book is fucking insane in the most positive of ways. paul ebbs writes an absolutely top tier eight that manages to encapsulate all the development he went through in the series as well as evoking the characterization from the 1996 movie
The Crooked World by Steve Lyons: this is the second book that does a genre-swap, but instead of fairytales this time the tardis lands on a planet dominated by saturday morning cartoon physics and logic. but the doctor & co being there begins to introduce Real Life concepts such as death and sex and swearing, so all these wacky cartoon characters who’ve spent their whole lives doing wacky cartoon things like blowing each other up with sticks of dynamite or hitting each other with big hammers suddenly find that these actions actually have very very serious consequences, which really kicks off when this story’s equivalent of tom rips off this story’s equivalent of jerry’s head, killing him instantly. idk i just watched a lot of saturday morning cartoons as a kid so seeing the parodies of wacky races and scooby doo was very enjoyable. to me
History 101 by Mags L Halliday: to put it simply this book is about leftist infighting. to put it more complexly this book is about the spanish civil war and how differing opinions and principles can alter one’s perception of history - and what happens when history actually starts being changed in accordance to these differing principles. there’s also the subplot featuring fitz’s homoerotic, yet very traumatizing, travels with a guy named sasha as they journey to guernica so they can watch it be bombed
Camera Obscura by Lloyd Rose: this is where sabbath and the doctor’s relationship really reaches it’s peak. this is The Esteemed Toxic Old Man Yaoi Novel. but also remember when i said lloyd rose writes the best angst? this holds especially true here. i won’t spoil it for you but Something Crazy Happens to the Doctor! haha. haha
Time Zero by Justine Richards: this is just quantum physics: the novel. while fitz goes on his doomed siberia expedition with the geologist boytoy george in the 19th century, the doctor investigates some strange readings in siberia like a hundred years later, and some crazy confusing hijinks ensue! the events in this book kick off the arc that’ll continue for the next few books until sometime never where the multiverse is collapsing and the doctor has to fix it. even though he doesn’t know how. ALSO TRIX INTRODUCTIONNNNNN!!!!!!!!
The Infinity Race by Simon Messingham: this one’s whatever. the sabbath characterization is wack but there are a few good moments. you think it’s going to be mostly about a cool boat race but sadly that comes secondary -_-
The Domino Effect by David Bishop: this book is ASS, both plot-wise and characterization-wise. it also just seems like the author was trying to be needlessly edgy when he developed the setting, and there are just some baffling moments where characters say and do things i frankly think they would never say
Reckless Engineering by Nick Walters: the events in this one center around a tragedy that is fucking batshit insane. the universe this takes place in features a post-apocalyptic earth. i shan’t say what this apocalypse was because finding out what happened is all apart of the fun guys. i can’t spoil everything for you
The Last Resort by Paul Leonard: what if a corporation discovered TIME TRAVEL and set up RESORTS all across human history? what if there was a mcdonalds in ancient egypt and advertisements for microsoft in the original version of the bible? also what if something just soooo fucked up happens so many times <3
Timeless by Stephen Cole: anji’s last book. sobs.
Emotional Chemistry by Simon A. Forward: idk what it was but i just didn’t really vibe with this one. it’s not awful by any means and there’s a bit of plot carried in from the last novel that continues into the next but the actions that surround it don’t really matter i think. honestly i’d just read a summary of this one and continue on
Sometime Never... by Justin Richards: the culmination of the multiverse stuff. i liked it - miranda makes a reappearance, and the fact she’s written by someone other than lance parkin is already a plus. my only qualm is i don’t really like how it handled sabbath but that’s sort of how i felt about all the books post camera obscura… sigh
Halflife by Mark Michalowski: ANOTHER EASY TOP 3. i’m simply obsessed with all of the concepts and tropes in this book, not to mention it’s where fitz’s infamous Ass Dream can be found. there’s commentary on racism, colonialism, and religion, and it also features cannibalism as a metaphor for love :D
The Tomorrow Windows by Jonathan Morris: another case of me coloring a book orange even though i think you should read it anyway. it’s positively saturated with so many interesting alien planets and creatures and societies you’d be missing out if you didn’t read this one tbh. it’s also the first novel ever to feature the ninth doctor!
The Sleep of Reason by Martin Day: this one ok. it’s another book written from the pov of an outsider and her insights into the doctor, fitz, and trix are interesting (and their characterization when they show up is outstanding!) but it feels like they’re rarely in it & this close to the end of the series i just want to see more of my guys you know...
The Deadstone Memorial by Trevor Baxendale: i loved the atmosphere in this one. it’s more of a ghost story with sci fi elements, and the stakes involved aren’t Bigger Than Ever like they tend to be nowadays, but instead surround the wellbeing of a family of a single mom and her two kids which i appreciate - the doctor isn’t saving the Whole Universe and World; just a family from a small town; it’s effective in getting the point across that the doctor thinks everyone’s important and worth saving
To the Slaughter by Stephen Cole: this one’s fun and goofy and steve cole wrote it solely so he could fix an error from a fourth doctor serial in which the doctor got the number of jupiter’s moons wrong. that being said the reason it’s not colored orange is because the last book of the series is written by lance parkin and i want to help you procrastinate reading his godawful prose for as long as possible. your welcome
The Gallifrey Chronicles by Lance Parkin: fuck you lance parkin

Patreon Reward: A Pure Support Group, Chapter 11: Neo
Another meeting, this time with Neo needing to speak her piece...
It was the newest meeting of FABJA, and tonight was led by Lian Ren, with Nora Valkyrie being her second. Pyrrha had been meaning to come and be Lian’s second for the night, but when she and Joan had been watching a movie earlier, Joan had fallen asleep, her head on the redhead’s chest. Pyrrha had been not only unable, but unwilling to make Joan move, even as the other blonde’s hand crept up and rested on the breast she wasn’t letting her head lay against.
While the tent that she pitched was highly embarrassing, as was Joan grabbing her breast, at the very least Joan wasn’t groping her lower regions in her sleep before they left. It had happened before and the mess had been...well. Let’s just say all three futa members of JNPR had to replace their pajamas several times throughout the year.
But that was neither here nor there, as they both sat in the room, looking over the assembled crowd at the moment.
May, Velvet, and Ruby were all talking softly, blushes on their faces as they were obviously talking about last meeting’s subject matter, if the nearby Arslan’s burning red face meant what they thought.
Fiona and Neon were chatting as well (who knew that those two were old friends?) as they waited for the meeting to begin properly, doing their best to stay calm, which was honestly failing, considering their lower garments were bulging outwards.
Other members of FABJA were mingling about as well, though the main reason they were here tonight was surrounded by her own support group.
Neopolitan was sitting curled up in her seat, the act of hugging her legs making her look far more vulnerable than she had ever seemed outside, with Cinder, Emerald, and the Malachite Twins sitting around her, each of them talking to her quietly, the sounds lost in the din of conversation.
Clearing her throat, Lian looked over the room as they quieted down. “Hello, everyone, and welcome to another meeting of FABJA.” she began, seeing the expectant looks from those around her. “Today we have another person who needs to share what happened to them. Remember, there is no mocking anyone for their embarrassments, understood?” she warned, knowing that a few people in the room thought the girl haughty, especially Nora.
Then again, her partner had never forgiven the mute girl for the sex toy incident...or the punishment both had gotten from Goodwitch after said incident was over.
“The person who needs to speak tonight is Neo. Neo? At your leisure, please.”
A slight mechanical whine spilled from Neo’s hypervoice as she sighed, looking up, her mismatched pink and brown eyes glazed over before they sharpened as she was pulled out of her memories.
“<Hah...it...it was during the Halloween Movie Marathon that the Beacon Theater offered…>” she said through her hypervoice, her tone slightly shaky, even through the prosthetic.
~
“This is going to be so much fun, Neo! I know you like horror movies, so I thought this could be fun!” Neo couldn’t help but smile at how energetic Joan was, the bubbly girl practically bouncing on her feet, which did...enticing...things to her chest.
Neo shook herself. She needed to stay calm. This was one of the few times she was sure to have time alone with the blonde beauty, and she wasn’t going to let her hormones ruin it for her.
“<Thank you for the invitation, Joan. I hardly ever get invited to go to the movies.>” which was a pretty sad truth. Due to being a mute, it had always been hard for Neo to connect with others, and never mind the fact that most people didn’t like the same movies she did...which she thought rather sad. After all, most people tended to cringe at seeing visceral horror and bloodshed, and those that didn’t, were Hunters and it rated a ‘meh’.
But Neo found an enjoyment among them, if only because the ‘pint-sized terror’ (as her adopted father Roman referred to her as) enjoyed mocking the cliches and outdoing the carnage against Grimm targets or training bots...though she would admit that it wasn’t the same without blood.
But that was neither here nor there. Flashing their student ID’s, Neo made her way with the bubbly blonde to the concession counter, both getting popcorn and their chosen drinks (for her it was a cherry soda, and she noticed that Joan got a normal cola) and headed to their chosen theater.
As they entered, they noticed that while there were some students, the back seats (“The best seats!” Joan proclaimed) were completely empty and with a happy sound, Joan grabbed Neo’s hand and pulled her over to them.
Settling into the seats, Neo could admit that Beacon really did do right by its students, and this certainly beat having to scrounge for entertainment!
Settling in, Neo couldn’t wait to see what movies were picked for the night.
~
Emerald groaned, putting her head in her hands. “You poor, poor bitch…” she groaned, knowing exactly what happened, getting a flustered look from Neo, who waved her hands wildly, an almost unheard of expression from the normally sure of herself member of their team. “You were doomed before you knew it…”
Before Lian could say anything, Neo nodded, continuing. “<Yeah, I learned that the hard way...damn it.>” she huffed as Yang snickered at the inadvertent pun she made. “<I failed to think of the fact that she’s jumpy…>”
~
Neo was enthralled by the movie on screen; it was an older one, a more classic one, but that didn’t mean that it was less impressive than the newer movies. Actually, considering it was a classic, it captured her attention better than the ones that only relied on excessive blood and gore.
These had story building in them.
However, she had failed to realize that Joan could get jumpy this these movies (surprising, since she had seen the girl fight an Alpha Ursa in the Emerald Forest without a lick of fear on her face)...at least, until the blonde literally jumped out of her seat with a squeak and landed onto her lap, her bubbly rear pressing down onto her.
Neo released a sharp breath, her pupils shrinking as she felt the bubbly swell rub against her groin, her cock, which had been calming, surging with arousal from the feeling of a curvy woman, and the sweet smell of her skin.
Neo’s teeth sank into her lower lip as she tried to desperately keep her cock from bulging out and poking Joan in the rear. That was not how she wished to let her crush know that she liked her!
It was going to be awkward enough telling her eventually that she had sex with her porn star aunt!
Even worse, she was helpless to let Joan know what was happening to her, since her Hypervoice was off, and her head was shoved into the girl’s chest, leaving only her eyes (now glowing bright) looking at the screen as the killer stalked their next victim.
As they pinned them down and began to stab, Joan jerked as though she was the one being stabbed, physically each and every time.
...and considering her cock was harder than the shaft of Hush at the moment, perhaps that was a bad analogy?
Every shift on her lap was torture, Neo feeling precum leaking out into the fabric of her underwear, over her balls, as the beautiful blonde bounced on her lap in fright.
Bounce! Neo gasped as Joan rocked her rear against the bulge in her pants without knowing what she was doing.
Bounce! Her face was pulled down further into Joan’s chest, her nose in the girls cleavage, the only thing she was capable of smelling being the sweetness of the girl’s skin.
Bounce! Her balls churned angrily, loudly enough that she swore it was a miracle that no one heard it over the sounds of the movie in front of them.
BOUNCE! Neo’s eyes closed as she lost her battle with her orgasm, shuddering hard as cum sprayed into her pants, soaking them and covering her cock, balls, and inner thighs with the thick warmth vacating her balls.
Her shuddering was pronounced enough that Joan noticed and hugged her all the tighter, whispering into her ear, “It’s okay, I’m scared too!” wiggling closer as and only making her cum harder.
~
“<The only way that I managed to maintain any dignity is spilling my drink over my lap when Joan finally got off of my lap...but I’m still pretty sure everyone but Joan knew...>” Neo groaned, burying her face into her hands.
Cinder huffed. “They probably did…” she muttered, shaking her head sadly, knowing the embarrassment that her teammate must have felt. Though that statement was probably better off not being made, as Neo only curled up more.
Lian sighed, knowing exactly what the girl felt, as did Nora and Pyrrha. “...thank you for sharing with us, Neo.” she said softly, “Let us end the meeting and head to bed, it’s getting late for us all.”
Shuffling filled the room as members of the support group shuffled out, some walking straighter than others, the support group separating until their next needed meeting...

Yandere Garrett Denali (Breaking Dawn) x Reader
Chapter 1: Meeting the Yandere Male Lead
You sighed, rolling around your bed as you just finished reading another yandere fanfic. It must be nice to have someone obsess over you to the point of being taken against your will to be "protected".
But then and again, that's also fucked up.
" Not like I'll experience those things in real life. Yanderes in reality are actually really scary, I think" You mumbled to yourself. That's another weird thing about you. You liked talking to yourself and creating weird fantasies in your head. People on social media call it Maladaptive daydreaming but who cares, right?
As long as you keep yourself entertained.
Glancing at your window, you noted that it was dark already. Glancing at your phone, it read 7PM. Meh, maybe you can ask permission from your parents to allow you to walk around the park at this time.
Yes, you're already 26 years old but growing up in an Asian household and just moving here in America for a short vacation means you still need to ask your parents before going outside. They were very strict and overprotective of you after all you were the youngest and a woman at that.
"Hey mom, can I go outside for a while? My room feels stuffy and I think I need a walk."
"Honey, its already dark and-"
"Mom, its just 7PM and I'll just be in the park near our house. I won't be long, just maybe 30 minutes. You can't keep treating me like a child forever." You cut her off and ranted.
She sighed and look at you wearily.
"Fine but bring your pepper spray and taser, okay? You know there's a high crime rate in this country. And call me if someone's bothering you. Remember, don't talk to any strangers!"
Luckily your father was meeting with some old friend since he probably won't allow you if you asked him instead.
"Yes mom, I know. I love you." You kissed her cheek as you happily went out.
Breathing in the night air, you carefully watched for anyone following you. Living with overprotective parents made you a little paranoid yourself and you hated it.
Seeing no one around as you finally approached the park, you sit in the swing. There were streetlights every corner so it helped ease your nerves a bit.
"Okay, calm down self and just enjoy the view" You talked to yourself as you gaze at the stars. Rocking yourself back and forth on the swing, your mind immediately comes up with different scenarios for your favorite character.
Giggling to yourself as you were swept up in your imagination, you suddenly stop when you felt the hairs on the back of your neck suddenly stood up. Something's wrong.
Glancing warily at your surrounding, you caught red eyes peering at you from a distance.
"Shit!" You cursed and immediately bolted out from your place.
You hated running when you feel scared since it felt as if you'll be chased the moment you do but this time, all your senses were telling you to run which you did.
'Don't look back, don't look back' Your mind chanted when you suddenly feel someone breathing down the back of your neck.
"Shit, fuck!" You shrieked, increasing your speed. Now, you wished you've exercised more as you were lacking in stamina and speed to probably outrun this crazy motherfucker.
Finally reaching your house, you bolted through the gates and quickly locked it before knocking furiously on your door.
"Mom, let me in!" You cried and dared to finally look behind you with your pepper spray ready. Much to your relief and horror, no one was there.
What the fuck?
The air was still and nothing extraordinary moves. Your eyes swept your street and you found nothing at all.
Okay, that's seriously creepy.
"Oh dear, what happened?" Your mom looked at you worriedly and you hurriedly entered your house and locked the door.
After giving a thorough explanation of what just occured, you both made sure the doors were locked and all windows were closed.
"I know, I won't go out again" You said in defeat as your mother gave you a knowing look.
After taking a bath, you went to your bed to read some fanfic so you can forget what happened when you see something move quickly outside your window.
Weird, you thought, gathering your courage and taking a quick peek behind your curtain. There's no one outside.
"Okay, okay fine, maybe its time to go to bed" You sighed, getting under the covers. Unlike the usual, it didn't take long before you drifted to sleep.
Garrett's POV:
I just finished feeding on another unsuspecting prey. Human blood sure taste delicious especially when they struggle.
It was still early so I head around the park to enjoy the night breeze when I saw a young girl sitting on the swings alone. Her face looks blank as she stare at nothing in particular. There was certain serenity around her that piqued my interest. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to observe her for longer than I would have like when it seems as if she sensed me.
Our eyes made contact for a moment and it seems as if time literally move slower than normal.
'Mine' The first thought that came to my mind. I glance down and saw a red string tied to my pinky connecting to hers before it turns invisible. After centuries of living, I finally found my soulmate.
Unfortunately, my excitement didn't match hers as I probably comes off as something creepy. Her innocent eyes widen in fear before she take off.
Of course, her speed is nothing compared to mine and as I chased after her, I relish the sound of her heart pumping vigorously. I can easily reach out to catch her but enjoying this moment, I teasingly breath down her neck and had to hide my chuckle when she cursed and ran even faster.
So cute!
I had to stop myself from embracing her and taking her right then and there as I realized I scared her too much tonight. Hiding behind a concrete wall, I watched her quickly enter her property and knock at the door, her eyes finally trying to search for her 'stalker'.
Seeing her distressed face made me suddenly feel guilty. I shouldn't have teased her so much. After thinking of ways on how to make up to her and have a proper introduction, I saw the lights on her room turn off and her bedside lamp open.
Jumping on the ledge of her window, I try to peek between her curtains to see her one last time before she sleep but I think she sensed me again when she suddenly draw her curtain to gaze outside.
'Too close' If I still have a heart, it would have been beating hard as I barely hid myself the last moment. She can't see me. At least not yet.
'Soon' I promised, closing my eyes as her scent wafts over my senses.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Your POV:
The weather today was gloomy. Dark clouds hang above with the promise of rain and the occasional breeze was chilling you to the bone.
Your favorite kind of weather.
"Ah, this is really nice" You mumble to yourself. It was still late afternoon so you got permission to go to the nearest grocery store to buy ingredients for dinner.
'Ohh chocolates!' You excitedly pick out a bar of Twix when a hand reach out the same time you did, accidentally enclosing it around yours. The hand was a lot bigger and you tilt your head back to see a really tall stranger in black clothes looking down at you with surprise etch on his face.
'Woah so tall and handsome!' You inwardly squealed.
"Oh sorry!" You smiled at him nervously and motion him to go pick up his chocolate first.
"Ah, no it was my bad. Go ahead." He smiled at you.
Okay, what in the freaking romance movie shit is happening? That's weird cause you swear you were the only one in the aisle that time so since when did he appear?
"Oh no, no, its really okay. Anyway, I still have to pick up something so yeah, goodbye and thanks!" You awkwardly bowed at him and left the scene in a hurry.
'Ah shit, that was awkward' Sighing to yourself, you decided to pick out the ingredients first and then return later when the stranger is gone.
Finally getting out of the store, you carried your things ready to go home when a voice broke your thoughts.
"Hey, fancy seeing you again here" The stranger from before walked up to you casually. In his hands were a bag from what he had bought in the store.
He wore a jeans and shirt topped with black jacket and a necklace was hanging on his neck. Truthfully, he's gorgeous but something seems off about him.
"Yeah, hi"
"You got the chocolates, darling?"
Okay, he's suspicious. Why the heck is he talking to you and calling you darling? Is this what they call creeps here in America? Too bad if he's one as he's actually handsome.
"Yeah" You shortly answered and proceeded to ignore him as you start walking. He followed you, walking alongside as he strike up a conversation.
"Uhm sorry but do you need something? I don't know who you are but what you're doing is making me uncomfortable" You wanted to use the 'Leave me alone or I'm going to call the cops line' but you refrain from doing so and instead waited for his response.
"I'm sorry darling, my name is Garrett. Charmed to meet you." He proceeded to take your hand and plant a kiss on the back of it while gazing at you seductively.
If you knew how to blush, you would have been bright red by now but since you do not, your comical expression seemed to amuse him instead.
You never thought in all your life, you'd experience a guy kissing your hand like in those historical films. The slight stubbles on his face tickled your skin and you hurriedly take your hand away, the sensation of his soft lips on your hand imprinted on your mind.
"What the fuck?" You unconciously said out loud. "That's-"
"Romantic?" His teasing smile returned and you gave him a horrendous look.
"No, its creepy! What the heck dude?!"
"I can hear your heart beating faster than normal" He supplied.
"Yes cause what you did is just, I dunno scary? Leave me alone, bro" You said and proceeded to hightail it out of there.
"No wait, I haven't got your name yet" He touch your shoulder and it felt like an electricity zapped you. He retracted his hand, looking at it weirdly. Ah so he felt it too. Must be static electricity or something.
"I don't know who you are and no, I'm not giving away my name to any stranger. Now please leave me alone or I will have to call the cops" You finally said, giving him a stern look.
Garrett looked down at his mate, threatening him. Her small stature made her look so vulnerable instead. An adorable mouse trying to play tough before a lion, he chuckled at the thought. Finally unable to resist himself, he leaned down, embracing your form as he sniffed your neck in hunger. You smell so divine, so heavenly. He wanted to claim you as soon as possible.
Your squeak in response only made him crave you more. You have absolutely no idea what you're doing to him.
Placing a kiss on your neck, his lips linger as he feel your pulse rate increasing, the flow of blood rushing in your veins and your heart thumping erratically inside your chest.
He pull back and grab both your cheeks to look at you. You pupils were blown wide as you gaze at him in fear.
"You don't understand it yet but you will soon enough. You're mine."
Daintily placing a kiss on your forehead, he gaze at you one last time before turning to walk away from you.
You reach your house in silent contemplation. Still shocked at the turn of events, you numbly greeted your mom who worriedly voiced her concern to your unusual self. Debating on whether to tell her or not, you decided to tell her another time as your mind were still reeling from what happened.
After changing your clothes, you lied in your bed and stare out your open window. Down the street, you saw him staring at you and you shriek in response. The next thing you know he wasn't there at all.
'What the heck, am I hallucinating?' you grimly thought, rubbing your chest to calm yourself down.
"Goodness, that guy sure acts like a real life yandere. I mean I like them in fanfics but geez, I don't need a yandere in real life" You talked to yourself as you closed you windows and curtains seeing as it was soon to be night.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
You carelessly flung your sheets as you prepare for bed. You had just finished showering and doing your bed time routine but still feel annoyed with your parents lecturing you again about your diet.
"Well maybe I want to die early by consuming sweet foods, the heck they care about it" You grumbled to yourself while closing your lamp. You always feel like enclosing yourself in darkness when you let your irritation washed over you.
It has been sometime probably when your window suddenly slam open.
Sitting up quickly, you watched as two red eyes peer at you before a tall, well build man entered through your window with ease.
You grab the nearest object which is your pillow- fucking useless- to try and defend yourself.
"Who are you?"
"Its me, sweetheart" A soft, velvet-like voice answered.
"Wait, is it you Garrett?" You squinted in the dark before he suddenly lunged at you, pining you to the bed. He nuzzled your neck, inhaling your scent as he sighed blissfully.
Your body stiffened before pushing him off you and rushing to escape from your window.
Looking back as you run away from your house, you find him suddenly behind you, arms wrap around your waist as he run to who knows where. Wind slapped against your face as you felt dizzy and nauseous.
What's with his super speed? Is he a vampire or something?
Before you knew it, you find yourself in a forest. Thick, overhanging trees that sways with the wind coupled with the sliver of the moon slipping in between the spaces made the woods appear daunting and mysterious in your eyes. Its actually breath taking and the kind of scenery that you love but not in this situation.
"I told you before you're mine. I came back to get you" His eyes looked sincere as he softly cup your cheek with one hand.
"Uhmm, you know this is real life right? We're not in some kind of romance book shit bro. Or wait, are you taking any medications right now?"
Working as a nurse back in your home country, you've also studied about different kinds of mental disorders and you worried this guy probably have some serious issues.
Garrett scoffed and looked at you in disbelief before laughing it off.
"Come now, YN, don't be like that to your soulmate. I'm hurt."
Seeing as you don't look convinced, he sighed and stare at you seriously.
"Fine. I'll do this just once because you're special to me. I'll give you a head start for 1 minute. If you reach that specific tree-" He pointed at the pine tree with white marking on its trunk a few distance away from you.
"-if you reach that before I do then I promise I'll let you go but if I catch you first, then you're staying with me."
"Uhm for how long?"
"For eternity, sweetheart" He said, grinning mysteriously.
'Okay fuck that, I'm yeeting it out of here'
Before he can start counting to three, you immediately bolted leaving Garrett staring flabbergasted at his mate who run away without notice. Shaking his head in amusement, he gave her exactly 1 minute before starting the chase.
Running past the leaves and the branches of the trees surrounding you felt like a deja vu. This scene...it happened to you before. Then it hit your self. You had this dream years ago where you were running in a forest and someone was chasing after you. You remember reaching that tree but someone-
"Hey there sweetheart, maybe you should run faster"
Garrett's taunting voice filled your ears and the adrenaline pumping through your veins increased your stamina and speed. If you could just reach that damn tree, its so close!
Extending your hand to touch your goal, your fingertips almost brushed the rough edges of the branch when you felt his hand rest on your shoulder and his cold presence behind you.
Cold shivers ran down your spine as you felt sweat dotted your forehead. Panting heavily, you feel your heart racing in both fear and anxiety.
"You lose, love" He whispered in your ear and you can't help the gasp that came out your lips. Turning slowly, you lifted your gaze to see him with a dark, contented smile on his face.
His pale face and red eyes filled with satisfaction made you asked the question itching on your mind since the first time you met him.
"What are you?"
"I'm a vampire, darling. And I've come for you as I promised."

Lexverse - Current Skele Head Canons! (Sans Versions)
Since the skele-boy’s are comin’ along on their own, I decided to take some time to describe my head canons of them and their relationship to Lex–to satiate the curiosity as well as remind me of personalities when there are so many bone boys as it is ;3; I’ll also include some stuff they like to do as well.
Sans - Still a lazybones. He often doesn’t get out much and prefers to just stay home if he can help it. Lex and Sans share a common inability to remember things they have to do, so they help each other out. They sometimes go out and stargaze on the roof or watch a bunch of terrible movies on netflix. The two of them together often ends up with a lazy day every day, with occasional “fun” if they run out of movies.
Red (Fell!Sans) - Cocky and arrogant, but easily Lex’s best friend and lover. Not as lazy as his classic counterpart, but he would rather be in his room than around other people. He can’t keep his shoes tied for the life of him and likes how sweats feel over shorts (probably blames Lex for it). Easily pissed off and will argue with you just for shits and giggles. Red makes teasing remarks at Lex while she easily likes to push his buttons too (they will wrestle it out if necessary), but if she needed him, he’d be there in a soul-beat. Their favorite pastime is listening to music, preferably rock, and he owns a white electric guitar he calls “Ivy.”
Blue (Swap!Sans) - Lex and Blue act more like siblings, and she's quite protective over him. Though, while being his second biggest supporter, she is also the one who encourages his outlandish behaviors just to get under Stretch’s marrow. Blue is a great listener despite his slightly obnoxious tendencies. He likes working out and will do whatever he can to try and get Lex out of the house to do the same, but fails miserably more often than not.
Axe (Horror!Sans) - nobody gets her more flustered than the soft spoken, yet very deep toned skeleton,  Axe. He also suffers from short term memory, so two often write notes for each other to remind of important dates, events, or what’s for dinner. Axe is an excellent cook, though relatively humble about it for Paps and Butch’s sake. He focuses on baking in his free time, but when he’s not doing that, he’s enjoying Lex’s company in more ways than one. He is quite smart despite his short term memory, capable of speaking German fluently (mostly to tease Lex) and often reads plenty of fiction. He naps just as much as Sans, but enjoys cuddles more than anything.
Dusty (Dusttale!Sans) - Dusty is pretty laid back and keeps to himself, but he’s protective in his own way for Lex. While she helps keep his LV attacks to a minimum, he keeps his eyes—or mostly his brother’s—on her any time she goes out by herself. Does Lex know? Meh, he doesn’t know or care really if she does. When he’s not doing work for Nightmare, he spends some of his past time throwing up Graffiti in random AUs; helps relieve stress.  He’s got a big brother vibe going on, and while he may be quiet around others, he always knows how to make conversation with Lex when he’s out for a smoke or it’s drink night. Lex often helps him sleep on rough nights by singing to him, and letting him stay in her room if it’s nightmare levels of rough. What else happens, well, he may not tell you.
Killer (Killer!Sans) - Probably the most dumbest, craziest, and perverted character Lex has ever come to meet—yet whatever this energy he’s got going for him, she’s all for it. Lex and Killer are two chaotic smartasses wrapped up in dynamite with its fuse lit. If Killer finds trouble, he’s dragging her with him. And if Lex gets in trouble? Killer ain’t there to participate (if it’s Nightmare that is.) Killer has made his shot with her before, but Lex often turns him away, not because she isn’t interested, but because he gets absolutely dramatic. It's always funny to see him whine about it. Definitely not because Nightmare would have his head…
Nightmare (Dreamtale) - Nightmare, the dark and brooding guardian of negativity, didn’t take to Lex when the two first met. Though, after an encounter with one of her trauma induced panic attacks, he realized everything she did was simply an act of hiding her own negative aspects. Nightmare, to say the least, pitied her and the two would often congregate in his study to talk about things that bothered her, where the negative energy wouldn’t be as harmful and would sustain him as well. Lex, while her positive expressions were undesirable, was never unwelcomed around him even so. Nightmare won't admit it up front, but he favors her dearly and has genuine care for her wellbeing…and the fact he admires her stubbornness. He’s a bit of a romantic, and if the two are ever alone, he takes his time “appreciating” her, but his jealousy is unmatched. He often will throw Killer into the nearest wall if he sees the two flirting. Sometimes, he does it just cause he finds it funny.
Big E (Error Sans) - First he stole her chocolate; then, an entire box of instant hot chocolate; the last straw was when her favorite pair of sandals went missing. Error, of course, being the culprit, took pride in the fact he got away with it too. Error and Lex didn't quite start off on the right foot when they first met either; Lex shook his hand without realizing he had Haphephobia, sending him into a glitching fit and leaving quite the impression following. Error holds a grudge like nobody’s business, and often steals some of her belongings to mess with her, sometimes even keeping them for himself. He managed to steal a pair of her black sweat pants one day, but they didn’t quite fit, so he had to stitch them up. He prefers to stay in the Anti-Void in his comfy bathrobe where he relaxes on his bean bag, watches Undernovela and enjoys knitting, crocheting, and whatever he can make with string, yarn, or fabric. He has a pair of glasses he stole from Lex, only to find out they weren’t even hers. He doesn't need them, but he likes how they look and makes him feel important. While he has no interest in being anywhere close to Lex, sometimes he tolerates her visits if she promises to watch at least five episodes of Undernovela, stay the FARTHEST away on the bean bag, AND bring him a chocolate milkshake. He doesn’t like her. Not even a little. Nope, not at all…
Ink (Ink Sans)- If there’s one thing Error and Lex have in common, it’s the fact they have little patience with Ink. While he means well, he often fails to read the room. Personal space isn’t a thing for this guy, but it’s easy to fall for his charms and enthusiasm. Lex often engages in conversation with the little bastard mostly to make it up to Error (if they happen to be in the same room). Lex actually enjoys discussing art with him, but she can’t last too long because Ink will forget everything within a few minutes and she’ll have to start over. It’s not his fault, of course, but she admits it can be tough. Though, she has seen his mischievous smile before, and she has gotten chills from it. Whatever he has cooking in his skull, she’d rather not be around to find out.
Lil Man (Edgy Bittybones) - Lil Man was a rebellious bitty who more so found Lex, instead of her finding him. While she didn't want to call him Little Red (Red would have her soul for it) she decided to call him Lil' Man, since he was so adorably small. However, he was also a little shit. Leave him unsupervised, and he would cause all kinds of trouble. Red wouldn't even watch him, it was too much work. So, Lex bought the little guy a tiny CD player and if he was good, he'd get a new CD when they went to the store. Much like Red, he enjoyed Rock music, but he also enjoyed musical numbers too. He's never not hungry, leaving Lex having to buy extra snacks for him so he didn't raid the fridge every week more than once. Even if he is a hand full, Lex loves him, and Lil Man always enjoys ranting about random shit with her...even if he doesn't know what it is they are ranting about.

Disney Review Request Princess and the Frog
Requested by @themousefromfantasyland who wanted me to discuss Princess and the FRog ,the PRincess film that isnt really talked about and why it is a bit under the radar ....And yeah I wanna talk about that too .See I remember the HYPE for this film :It was Disney going back to their roots ,a princess fairy tale musical in beautiful 2D animation by Ron Clements and John Musker AKA the best directors Disney has ever had ,this was it ,this was going to bring back Disney for a modern age.....And it did fine ,not the game changer Disney was hoping for and as a result instead of bring back Disney 2D after a long hiatus,it was more of a swan song befor one last gasp in the form of Winnie the Pooh .I also saw the film in the theaters right when Disney had kind of become an obsession and for a few years it was the fave movie of my lil sibling.....Till Frozen came out .Also spoilers ahead
Tumblr media
The plot of this 2009 film concerns a waitress named Tiana (Anika Noni Rose) who dreams of opening her own restraunt ,and meets Naveen(Bruno Campos) a selfish Prince who has been turned into a frog in a scheme by the evil Dr Facilier (Kieth David ) ,and going by the Frog Prince fairy tale ,Naveen convinces Tiana to kiss him in exchange for enough money to pay for her restraunt .....Only for her to turn into a frog as well ,and the two set off on an adventure to find a way to make them human
This is a film I wish I loved ,cause there is a lot to love .The animation is beautiful ,and everytime I watch it I get a little sad cause 2D has been completly taken over by CG ,at least in America .I like the side characters .Louis the Trumpet playing gator while not having a lot to do is brilliantly animated by Eric Goldberg and played masterfully by Michael Leon Wooley (THough I will confess ,since I found out he played Audrey II in the Broadway version of Little Shop of Horrors ,I keep expecting him to go "Feeeeeddd Meeeee" ).I ADORE Mama Odie ,a 197 year old blind voodoo priestess .She is kind of a deceptively goofy yet wise character which is an archetype I love and Jennifer Lewis gives it her all ,I had no idea the actress was only in her 50's she convinced me she was much older . I think my favorite character might be Tianas friend Charlotte ,a rich girl obsessed with marrying a prince ,she is just so energetic and funny and I love that she genuinely cares about Tiana .Ray the firefly is a character I thought I wouldnt like when the film was being advertised and I confess I dont like his design .....But he is actually the heart of the film ,Jim Cummings givers a great performance ,I love his sub plot about being in love with a star ,Evangeline ,and I remember how shocking it was that Ray DIES .At the end of the film Dr Facilier KILLS him ,and I remeber the audience gasped in the theater .Now I have seen people who either think Rays death is emotionally powerful or straight up silly ,for me....Im a big ball of emotion ,so when that second star eppears next to the wishing star meaning Ray is finally with Evangeline ......I tear up
I really love Naveen as a character ,a disinherited playboy who loves jazz and his arc and romance with Tiana is good.I also just adore the setting ,I think 1920's New Orleans is the perfect place for a 20th century fairy tale (Wish they used it better but I will get into that ).I also love the use of jazz music and speaking about the music lets talk about the songs by Randy Newman .Now I am not a big Newman fan but I think the songs are really good though some are just OK and I am gonna talk about them from my least favorite to my most favorite
8.Never Knew I needed-the obligatory end credits pop song that is good ,but I dont love it ,I kind of forgot this one existed
7.When We're Human-Sung by Tiana,Naveen and Louis Its cute but kind of meh for me
6.Gonna Take You There-Sung by Ray and his Firefly family ,its just OK
5.Down in New Orleans(All versions)-I actually really like this song ,its a good opener and closer
4.Almost There:Tianas song that is really damn good, Anika Noni Rose does a fantastic job ,I think it is also my third favorite song animation wise ....I just like three other songs better
3.Ma Belle Evangeline -One of the most underrated love songs in Disney ,I think the sequence is beautiful(One of my favorite scenes in the film honestly ) and Jim Cumming really shows off his singing skills
2.Dig A Little Deeper :Mama Odies song and its just got a good message while also be8ing a ton of fun and Jennifer Lewis just sells it .I got a weakness for Gospel style numbers
1.Friends on the Other Side-OK I have opinions that are unpopular about Doctor Facilier but I will give him this ,he has one of the BEST Villain songs in Disney .Kieth David really shows off his amazing singing skills here, the animation is perfect ,I like how it builds up to being completely insane ,its fun ,its creepy ,its just a great villain song.....With a perfect reprise ,but I'll talk about that later
I'll talk about Tiana later ,so lets go into what I think is the flaws/things I am kind of meh about/thing that almost work but dont but-...*Sigh* lets just get into it
In the meh category ....The use of celeb voices here are weird.Like usually you get a big star to play the main character or the sidekick or the villain.....But aside from getting the great character actor Kieth David to play the villain, which I get but the other three BIG STARs play supporting characters. Now I kind of get Terrance Howard and Oparah Winfrey for the parents but...I'm just gonna say it ,why is JOHN GOODMAN IN THIS FILM ??I love John Goodman ,dont get me wrong ,and yeah he is a plot point, (FAcilier wants to kill him and gain his wealth ) but he doesnt do much so I am always distracted when I hear Goodmans voice
Annnnnnddd lets get to the part that I think might get me some flack....Lets talk about my issues,AND what I like about Dr Facilier .I KNOW this guy is super beloved he is the part of the movie people REALLY like....And I'm sorry I got problems with him .I'll start with what I like :His design is great ,evoking classic DIsney villains like Captain Hook ,his villain song like I said is marvelous ,I like his evil plan to take over New Orleans and feed all the inhabitants souls to his Friends on the Other Side ,he's got menace to him,I love the fact his shadow is alive .he is played by one of my favorite actors Kieth David who delivers a phenominal vocal performance and I like that beneath his cool facade he is actually a desperate and terrified dude when it comes to his otherworldly buddies ......But while he is made of cool parts ,they emphisize his greed ,his motive is he wants money and power ......Thats boring and it doesnt really vibe with "Im going to let spirits devour New Orleans " .The other is he is more plot villain and not a good foil to the heroes . He has no connection with Tiana really ,they only have one scene together and she apparently knows who he is but thats never explained .I say to make him a better villain
1.Emphisize his back story that he was someone who used magic to fufill his desires the easy way ,and his desperation to pay off his debt is his motive
2.Have him pursue the heroes ,and tempt the heroes.
I wll say he is a fun character ,I just wish he was great .....Oh his death scene is AMAZING and TERRIFYING though, dragged to the spirit world by his own shadow as his own villain song is sung by monstrus spirits ,that was such a jaw dropping scene in the theater ,possibly my favorite Disney villain death
As for things in the I dont like section.....The film begins strong, and ends strong too.....But that middle section in the bayou is just kind of dull.Up to Ma Belle Evangiline that whole part of the film just drags ,including these three minor bad guys that dont add anything ,theres some terrible jokes ,and two of the songs dont do it for me .Humor in general is hit and miss .Oh I almost forgot ,Lawrence is one of the most forgettable villain sidekicks in Disney,I kind of forget he is in the movie
Well Question time
1 - What do you think about Tiana as a character?
I like Tiana ,I think she is a good protagonist ,Anika Noni Rose soes a good performance ,I find her likeable and I like her romance with Naveen.
2 - Do you think this movie would be better if Tiana didn't turn into a frog, or if the frogs journeyed through New Orleans more inteastad of the bayou?
Yeah I wouldve preferred mor human Tiana, and while I like swampy settings ,I wanted more in New Orleans .
3 - Is this movie good, bad, or just watchable?
Its... on the good end of Watchable .I dont return to it a bunch it has flaws ...But its got its good stuff in it .I dunno I always go in wanting it to be better then it is
Overall it almost works but it feels undercooked ,but I still reccomend it .If best is A+ this is about a B

Infinity Pool: I once was lost, but now I’m filthy.
Tumblr media
You're a writer. You wrote a book, but it's been about six years since then, and you've been bone dry for inspiration. You're beginning to question whether you ever had any talent at all. You decide that the best way to kick writer's block is to go to a resort in a foreign country, engage with murderers and other degenerates, get shot at, soak yourself in a world of clones and death, and maybe have an orgy or two with some strangers. Sound like a good idea?
It's a great idea if you're Alexander Skarsgard (playing James, our writer).
Tumblr media
He even dragged his lovely wife (played by Cleopatra Coleman) along. He married rich; she's funding this crazy plot. Nothing quite like murder to clear the sinuses and creative struggles.
James meets a couple (Gabi and Alban) who after helping him out of a serious situation (sort of), then lead him into the craziness I described above.
Look, the casual moviegoer has probably not even heard of this movie. And honestly, there are plenty of reasons for you not to watch this smut. So, let me save you the time. I watched this smut so that you don't have to :) But, as far as the horror movie fans... well, yeah, still good reasons not to watch this smut.
Maybe you've heard that this movie is STRANGE, GORY, and SEXY. Two out of three ain't bad. Idk about sexy. I mean, if you call an orgy between mostly middle-aged people, who are simultaneously splattered with all kinds of bodily fluids (it's a juicy movie:) including blood, and also wearing creepy masks, sexy... then maybe some of these scenes will do it for you.
Tumblr media
Some might say "What about Mia Goth? Sexy, right?!"
Tumblr media
I think those people are confusing "sexy" with crazy and manipulative.
Tumblr media
I've been there, especially when you get a few drinks in you; you'll start seeing "sexy" all over the place, but... nope, it's just crazy.
This movie IS gory though, but not as much blood as I thought it would have. Movies like "Saw" and "TC Massacre" are way worse/better in that dept.
And, STRANGE? Oh, yeah... I feel comfortable saying that it's one of the strangest movies you'll see all year.
These masks
Tumblr media
This pool
Tumblr media
Whatever the hell this is
Tumblr media
My buried lede of clones
At times, naseating directing style
punching and stabbing people to literal pulp
Freaky, unneccessary images
And I loved all of it!
All of the above! I could have done without the orgy stuff, but maybe that's gonna be Brandon Cronenberg's (the director)  signature. Random, Nasty, Horror Movie Porno. So, maybe we should just get used to it. Perhaps it'll be the new trend. I can see it now - Leatherface pauses (mid-kill), puts down the chainsaw, and takes off all of his clothes, slowly, to Sam Smith’s “Unholy”.
The violence is gross, but artistic (somehow).
People rave about Mia Goth's performance (and it's excellent), but I was also impressed by Skarsgard. Well, as much as one can be impressed by the acting in a horror film:) He was good though!
There's a group of rich people who Gabi (Goth) introduces James to, and they are horrible. I loved hating them! They're the type of people in horror movies that you can't wait for the monster to get to, but then you realize, they ARE the monsters. It is a purposely uncomfortable movie.
I loved the character of James. He doesn't quite belong anywhere in this movie. He never really has any clarity of what's happening to him. And neither does the audience. The only thing that's clear is that he's getting pulled closer and closer towards a dark place.
Tumblr media
The ending will have you staring at the screen trying to figure out what the hell you just watched. Let me help you:
There's no mystery. No hidden meaning. No layers. You'll have to accept that what you watched is all that there is. It's dissatisfying on purpose. Sure, I guess you could derive some social commentary if you wanted to, but... meh. You want a lesson? - I'll give you one.
When you get lost in life, and lose your sense of self, don't stay there long or you will be taken advangetage of... and sure as hell don't go to some foreign land with weird laws.
Instead:
Frequent a bar. Go to church. Go to Disneyland. Buy a sports car. Have sex with people 20 years younger than you (legally:). Join that cult you’ve been thinking about.
Do something different with your hair.
Normal stuff, you know??
No Mia Goths and no clone orgies.
Did I have any problems with the movie? Not really. I've heard the complaints from others, and they're mostly valid, but I'd counter by saying that that's why I loved it!
I'm proudly in the minority, but... Grade: A+* from me.
(asterisk* - AGAIN, it’s weirdf AF, but that’s right up my alley)
Have you ever gone on a trip outdoors and gotten dirty? You're bothered at first, but then you get more dirty? And after that. you just don't care anymore. You're all in.
Tumblr media
Afterwards, you could say to yourself "Wow, I'm a filthy and disgusting human being. What's wrong with me?" OR say to yourself "Wow, that was fun and thrilling." and take a shower. It's up to you.

From what I've seen, S1 is somewhat controversial, fans either love it or hate it. In retrospect, I enjoy rewatching it more than I did the first time because it feels nostalgic to revisit the characters back when they were young and naive and things were much simpler than they become in S2 onwards. Angel (1x7) and Prophecy Girl (1x12) are fan favorites for sure. And I know a lot of people dislike Teacher's Pet (1x4) and The Pack (1x6). I have a soft spot for Out of Mind Out of Sight (1x11) because iirc it's the first episode that shows us that there's more to Cordy than meets the eye (and btw, if you enjoy her character, she's the female lead of ATS, so that's another reason to watch it!)
I've seen it said that s1 is too campy or whatever and sure, it can be, but I give it the 1997 benefit of the doubt and I actually quite enjoyed it. I'm sure I'll back on it differently once I've seen all seasons but to me it's not much different from Doctor Who series 1 and that was almost a decade later with about the same special effects and campiness. And I love series 1! Ninth Doctor ftw.
I feel like I actually preferred the monster of the week eps over ones that got back to the overarching plot of The Master and even over the Angel one. Don't get me wrong, they were interesting to watch but Angel's ch and backstory are quite predictable from a modern lens and the overarching plot of season 1 is meh. Maybe it's because modern TV is so serialized but I find the monster of the week format refreshing and I thought the ideas were interesting enough, for the most part. Always a bit of mystery, a bit of horror, and a bit of lit analysis going on about what the metaphor is this week. I enjoyed that. But I imagine the larger plots get more intricate as time goes on, if only because that's how TV evolved at large at that time.
For example, I find The Pack oddly fascinating! Disturbing, yeah, but it's a compelling piece of television and it made me think a lot more than the Angel ep. 1x11 was a good one too, and I also liked seeing more of Cordy and have her be more of a character rather than just a stock queen bee bully. Good to hear she's a main in ATS! I heard she was in it but to find out that she's the second lead is interesting.
I'm done with s2A now Anon (as in up to 2x13) so if you want to send some thoughts in I'd love to read them. Favs of this era, flops? Let me tell you I did not expect Spike to show up so early on and I did not expect that attempt at a British accent from James Marsters. I hear he gets better and by god I hope he does because I enjoy him as an actor and the accent is distracting at times. Also did not expect Seth Green to show up this early.

This turned out suuuuper long. Sorry not sorry. Here's me ranting about my WIP. It turned out extremely long!
Dora+Asha as a parallel to Seth+Theo: I've mentioned this before and it's really quite obvious (and on purpose), but I'm gonna share anyway because I never explained it. Dora and Asha are lovers. When they meet, about a year before they show up in the story, they instantly bond because they're the only ones who can understand each other. They are compared to Seth and Theo not only by being a demigoddess-healer pair, but also by the intensity of their relationship. The only way to parallel Seth and Theo's platonic relationship is with a romantic one, normally understood to be "stronger", despite it not always being true. They also mirror our protagonists in personality, except backwards. Dora - the demigoddess - is a parallel to Seth through her cynical nature and dismissiveness of the war and the gods. One of her greater character traits is also that the war dragged her away from the life she wanted (she was studying to become a painter), which has happened to Seth twice now (the second time was more voluntary than the first but eh). Asha, however, mirrors Theo in the way that people see her. Theo is seen as being "above" people purely because of her ascendancy and power, but Asha is seen by the other healers as almost equally awe-inspiring purely because of how old she is (she's 32, that's like 100-something for a healer). She says she's disconnected from everyone else but Dora because none of them understand the uncomfortable loneliness of her position, and through her we can gaze at what Theo is going through but refuses to articulate. I'll expand on this last bit further ahead.
Seth and Theo as inverses: Seth came into contact with the war at a very young age and got used to its horrors. It made her very jaded. As an adult, even after living away from the war for 17 years, she doesn't even flinch at the most gruesome wounds. Her reaction to it is "meh, nothing I haven't seen before" because she worked at a hospital. The only time anything like this gets a reaction out of her is Theo's magic, which is just too horrific and unnatural for her to bear. Overall, she would be almost at home in the war. She has the full potential to be a cold-blooded killer if it means getting what she wants - she has killed before and merely shrugged it off. Even as a healer, her powers involve killing. By all means, she's the scariest demigoddess anyone had ever seen. Theo, however, was raised under the dominion of the Goddess of Reason, in an environment where the intellectual aspect of war is more important than its bloody reality. Her brother ascended the ranks of the Order by being a master strategist. She was not meant for the visceral and violent way her Mother's war works, despite being told over and over that she was crafted specifically for that purpose (I'll expand on it later). The first time she kills someone she cries for, like, three days. She refuses to interact with the war more than necessary, and when she's not on the battlefield, she spends her days trying to wash herself of the blood of the people she's killed. She does not have the stomach for this. If they switched roles, they'd be much better at it, but there would be no plot.
Ye Olde gender: Seth and Theo have very clear male-female alignments, specifically ones associated with war. Seth's job is very nurse-adjacent (because healer), she lives out in the countryside tending to a farm, and she's the physically weaker one of the pair. On a very superficial level, she literally just looks like a tradwife. But when you look at it more closely, it all peels away. Her powers of healing rely on killing things instead of giving up her own soul to heal others, she has literally been squatting in a random cottage for 15 years because she found shelter in it once time and decided to live there (she literally didn't have electricity for, like, eight years because of this), and yeah the 'physically weaker' thing doesn't get explained away, but she's pretty self-reliant and very mentally strong. Her stereotypical femininity is very shallow and pretty meaningless, and she often expresses hatred for the (stereotypically feminine) role of the healers and how they are treated. Meanwhile, Theo has a very traditionally male role. She's in a leadership position on the frontlines because of her powers despite magic being "a woman's job" (did I ever tell you guys that only women can use magic in this world? no?) and she's ranked higher than any of the generals. She's the perfect soldier and poster girl of the war. Everyone sees her as a 'protector', which is a parallel to how (male) soldiers are depicted in wartime. Except she hates every second of it. She's miserable.
Theo is a figure and not a person: We all know that Theo sees herself as a weapon and a tool to be used in the war. But did you know that the narrative does too? Basically, the story is told from Seth's POV 100% of the time. She and Theo share many intimate and vulnerable moments, and Theo talks about how she feels multiple times throughout the years they spend together, but we can never truly see into her mind. Everything is still a facet of herself she is choosing to display, there are never unfiltered thoughts. Theo to us, just like to the characters in the story, is a figure to be seen that can never be fully understood. To the reader, she is no different than the distant demigoddess or the woman in the posters that the other characters see. Not even Seth, the person who is closest to her, can see her fully. Basically: Seth is the eyes through which we see the world, and Theo is a character to be gazed upon.
Theo's magic reflects her character growth: (I know this one is obvious but I just noticed it yesterday, ok?) You can divide Theo's life into two neatly separate parts: pre-Goddess of Time and post-Goddess of Time. This determines a lot of her character development and also how her magic manifests. In the beginning, for the first ~7 years of the story, she's just a girl who ran away from home and found a new one far away. Her powers are very varied, but also simple - she has the skillset of any regular mage. She can manipulate any physical object, and often uses her powers (especially levitation) to help people around the town. On one notable occasion, she helps set up all the decorations for the harvest festival with merely a thought. Her magic is linked to her community. Then, she gets abducted by the Goddess of Time, spends a full year in her Garden in the Plane of the Gods, and her magic changes completely. Her powers reflect her Mother's domain now: control over the Body (the Three Sister Goddesses reign over body, mind, and heart idk if I ever explained it). Basically: she can no longer manipulate the objects around her, just as she can never go back to the person she was before. She can only manipulate living creatures. Her powers are also honed for killing, so that's pretty much all she can do. Her magic is almost 100% creating body horror and she hates it so very much. All she can do is what her Mother forced her to do (this arc gets a parallel with Jane but that's very far away in book 2). She's become her perfect warrior against her will and she can't even try to make things go back to how they were. The body horror aspect, by twisting and distorting bodies beyond what would ever be natural, also represents how a) she's realized that she's never been fully human; b) she has been changed beyond recognition to the point that she can't even find that old Theo and her connection to her community anymore.
I feel like I didn't articulate this 100% how it sounds in my head, but I hope I got my points across? Sorry for the absolutely gigantic response

Okay, you all know I’m a sucker for a good crossover, so fic rec! Its only two chapters so far, but its already giving me everything I want out of a DC/Marvel comic book crossover.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/40380708/chapters/101153304
Basically the premise is the catalyst character from the original Marvel vs DC crossover event, Axel Asher aka Access, arrives in Gotham and leads to the Batfam winding up dropped into the Marvel comic book universe. They’re separated during the journey between universes and end up scattered across the Marvel Earth.
Bruce winds up in the current Avengers headquarter, where he’s faced with a lineup led by Sam Wilson-as-Captain America, Iron Man, Carol Danvers, She-Hulk, Namor and Sersi.
Dick winds up in New York with Peter Parker, who takes him to see the Fantastic Four.
Jason winds up with a line-up of the Midnight Sons (the horror/supernatural team-up squad, for those not familiar), including Dr. Strange, Blade, Elsa Bloodstone, Ghost Rider and Moon Knight (as well as possibly the Punisher and Wong. There’s two members of the team in Jason’s scene where I’m not one hundred percent sure who they’re meant to be but I’m assuming they’re Frank and Wong, even if Frank’s not usually a member of that team).
Babs (as Oracle) winds up on a SHIELD Helicarrier and immediately gets to hacking.
Cass winds up in Hell’s Kitchen, spotted by Daredevil and Elektra.
Stephanie winds up with the Runaways, who immediately bond over supervillain parents.
Tim winds up with the Young Avengers, namely Kate, Billy, Teddy, Loki, America Chavez and Cassie Lang.
Duke winds up on Krakoa, meeting Dazzler, Logan, Quentin, Domino, Sage and Black Tom.
And Damian winds up with the Champions, specifically Kamala, Miles, Sam, Viz and Riri.
So far its definitely got my attention, just via the choices for what character winds up where and the logic basis for each grouping, as well as the choice of character lineups. Any time you pick Sam as the leader of that kind of Avengers line-up, you have my attention, and so far I’m loving the author’s depictions of Cass and Duke, whose inclusion tends to be a make-it-or-break-it aspect of fics for me. If they’re just there to be window dressing I’m like meh, but so far this writer is giving every included character an equivalent amount of respect and appreciation, so I’m like yesssssss good.
Also, this bit alone should sell a fair number of people on the Bruce and Dick dynamic for this fic:
She-Hulk tosses her hair and puts on a bright smile. “Looks like I get to give the good news. The Fantastic Four have encountered someone in a similar predicament to you. A young man dropped in the middle of New York City claiming to be from another universe. He called himself Nightwing.”
“Dick.” Bruce gasps in relief. His son was safe. That was enough for him to work with. The two of them have taken on the world before, they could do it again here. “He’s my eldest son. Please, if I could see him-”
Anyway, if you like Marvel/DC crossovers or are just open to one as long as its got a full Batfam ensemble with everyone seemingly poised to have their share of moments, definitely check this one out and give the author some kudos and encouragement!

Genre: Fluff, Humor, RPF (Real Person Fic)
Summary: Corpse recounts the time he first met his now best friend who too has been gifted with a deep voice.
Requested by two Anons. This fic is a mash up of two very similar requests I got from an unnamed Anon and 🖤🥀 Anon, so a big thank you to the both of you for sending in your requests! I’m really sorry to be posting your requested fic so late but I hope the final product is gonna make the wait you had to endure worth it! If you come across it and read it, I hope you enjoy it! Love, Vy ❤
“Yeah, yeah ok, I know.“ I can’t help but playfully roll my eyes at the comments that are flooding in, “Before any more people address it - even though it’s only been five minutes - I’m gonna address it myself: I apologize for the absence of the guest I promised would accompany me on this stream. She made the choice to party until late - or should I say early - and is currently probably asleep. And...I just don’t have the heart to wake her.“
In all honesty, all the blame should fall on Y/N’s lack of responsibility but I could never say such a thing - she rarely let’s herself loose and allows herself to have fun so there’s no way I’m gonna hold this one instance against her. Quite the contrary actually: I hope she starts going out and having fun more frequently cause really deserves it. She’s a super hardworking girl, studying college and working her ass off simultaneously.
“For those of you who don’t know who I’m referring to: the girl in question is Y/N, aka Jumpscaretastic, a horror games oriented streamer. She was supposed to join me for this freaky journey but...yeah I’ll have to endure it on my own because fuck me.“ I take a look at my chat again, deciding to keep this interaction with my viewers going for a bit longer before I start the game. I may be stalling but you sure as hell won’t hear me admit it. The game may be terrifying as hell - I have no doubt it is - but I doubt it would affect me so much if Y/N was here.  My eyebrows furrow automatically at the sight of one specific question that I’ve been getting asked quite a lot recently and I’ve been doing my best to avoid it cause the idea - to me, at least - is so messed up. Why, we’ll get into that later. “No- ok, this is the first and last time I’ll be addressing this wild assumption, you guys, so listen carefully. Y/N and I are by no means related. I’m not related to every deep-voiced person on this planet, just FYI.“ Speaking of Y/N’s deep voice which I’ve gotten so accustomed to hearing, I can’t help but recall the first interaction the two of us had when she got invited by Toast for a game of Among Us with us when Felix canceled on us due to technical difficulties. “I may not be related to her but she really put into perspective how other people feel and react when they hear my voice. I, honestly speaking was astonished by hers.“
A few months ago
“Ok guys, since Felix texted me about an hour ago, saying he won’t be able to make it, I invited a friend of mine so I hope that’s ok with you.“ Toast announces when the majority of us have accumulated in the lobby.
“Yeah, all cool. An introduction to them would be nice though.“ Charlie says, tampering with his avatar’s appearance on the in-game laptop.
“Oh, I’m sure she can do that herself.” He says with a bit of a chuckle, “Y/N?“
“I’m here, I’m here.“
My gaze moves from my chat to the monitor displaying the game in an instant as though it would reveal to me who the owner of this unfamiliar voice that just travelled through my headphones is. You know how my voice is considerably deep, yeah well this girl’s voice is six feet below that.  My eyes have widened without me even noticing as I hurry to unmute myself despite being a little late to the reaction party which already consists of a ton of ‘OMG’s and “WHOA”s from the rest of the people in the call. Not one of them, however, considers to question the authenticity of the voice.
“Was that a voice changer or something?“ I say, my eyebrows shooting up when I hear the laugh I receive in response to the question - a sound so deep but simultaneously sweet and girly it messes with my head.
“I wish I kept count so I could tell you which number on the list of people who’ve asked me that you fall under.“ The girl, Y/N replies, “But for the record no, it’s not a voice changer.“
Realizing how hypocritical this question probably seems coming from me, I decide to believe her - probably cause she gets nothing if she lies anyways. “Oh, so this is how it feels hearing my voice for the first time, huh?“ I say, slowly nodding my head, still in slight disbelief.
“Yeah, meeting her was quite rattling - in the best way possible though.“ I say, fixating myself back in reality following the little trip back in time to the day Y/N and I met. “She’s now one of my best friends so that should tell you enough.“
It goes without saying that, since she’s my best friend, I know her quite well. That being said, with the detailed knowledge I have on her, I can guess she’s gonna be in for a massive hangover when she wakes up. I just hope she texts me when she does so I can make sure she’s at least semi-functional. Just then, my phone buzzes with a message. Much to my shock, it’s a message from Y/N. Truth be told, I didn’t expect her to be up for another hour or two or three but here she is, sending a simple text that reads:
“My head’s pounding like a drum mid rock n’ roll concert“
There are no emojis accompanying the message, suggesting she’s deadly serious and in quite a bit of pain. Ok, I won’t sugarcoat it - she’s in a fuck-load of pain right now.
“The Sleeping Beauty has awaken and is complaining about a headache, just in case you were wondering.“ I chuckle seemingly nonchalantly as I silently contemplate whether to text her back or call her instead. Who’s gonna know better than my viewers, after all... “You guys think I should call her? Or would that annoy her?“ I ask, furrowing my brows at the chat as I see different responses coming in.
Meh, fuck it -  I think to myself, already taking my phone to call Y/N when the support of my viewers floods in as well.
She picks up after two rings, letting out a sound that sets the tone for the discomfort she’s in.
“Hello to you too.“ I say, putting the call on speaker so my mic can pick up her responses. “Would you please rate the pain you’re in right now on a scale 1-10?“
“A hundred.“ Her strained, raspy and deeper than usual voice comes through, stealing a chuckle from me, “I’m hungover and still a bit drunk. Like, how does that even work?“
“The morning after is a straight-up bitch. Welcome to the world of bad decisions.“ I tell her compassionately, low-key wishing I could go over to her place and provide her with at least a tiny bit of comfort, as much as I can.
“Yeah...“ she sighs halfway dramatically, “Anyhow, we usually text around this time, what’s up with the call?“
“Just wanted to make sure my best-girl wasn’t really dying, you know. Who am I supposed to annoy in Among Us if you’re not there, after all?” I raise my brow and, although she can’t see me, I bet she can probably guess I’m doing that.
“Whatever...“ The same way I can imagine her rolling her eyes while smiling as she said that, “Tell me this, am I wrong or was I supposed to be on your stream today?“
I barely manage to hold in my laughter at the question, “Uh, yeah you were, but...” she doesn’t let me finish my sentence, instead cuts me of:
“Oh shit, I’m so sorry, Corpse! I totally forgot. Believe me, if I could roll my ass out of bed I’d hop in but I really can’t. Unless you want me to be a bore for an hour and a half, that is.“
“For starters, you could never be a bore to me.“ I say matter-of-factly, “And for seconds, you’re kinda on the stream anyway...“
“Come again?“ She cuts me off yet again, “You’re calling me mid-stream? If so, hey everyone! Sorry I couldn’t join, I promise to make it up to both you and Corpse soon.“ A yawn comes from her end before she continues, “As of now, I think I’ll go back to sleep.“
“Alright, alright. I’ll call you again later to make sure you’re still alive. Sleep tight.“ I tell her, already hovering my thumb over the ‘Hang up‘ button.
“Won’t let the hangover bite.“ She slurs/murmurs, stealing my opportunity to end the call cause she does it herself.
I stare at my phone for a second, finally becoming aware of the grin that has spread across my face. Eventually, I address my viewers once again, “There you have it, guys. Technically, you can give her a pass for answering the call, especially in her current state, so let’s all agree to not hold this against her, cool?“
A brief look at my chat shows me the ton of fluffy comments that are coming in as a reaction to the interaction Y/N and I just had. One, however, sticks out especially. It reads: ‘You like her or smt?’
“Do I like Y/N?“ I read the comment out loud, a smirk coming across my face, “Of course I do. She’s a darling.“ If I had a webcam on I’d look straight into the lens and wink. That’s probably spark more than enough rumors, but at the very least they wouldn’t be wrong. “I’ve stalled enough, Outlast is waiting.“ I announce, finally starting the game. After all, it cannot be scarier than the conspiracies my fans could come up with. I get it though - from their perspective, we’re already the perfect couple; from my perspective we’re impossible because from Y/N’s perspective we’re best friends.
Ain’t that how it always goes?

CREEPY SHIGGY [50+ Followers!~]
"creepy guys
you're just my style
shaggy hair and
wicked smile
falling victim to your fantasy
damn, I love it that you're so creepy"
Tumblr media
Credit to the lovely Bbyloo over on deviantart for our daily bread. 🙏
warnings/notes: modern/quirkless AU kinda fantasy AU bc Kurogiri is literally a thick black fog so why not. contains relationship and other hcs as well as brief scenarios. also can't help but think he's OOC bc he's not really a villain here, but this is an AU hc so meh ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ safe to assume he's not had as harsh of a past in the canon storyline for this one, so his personality's softer
MINORS 👏 DNI! 👏 AGE 👏 IN 👏 BIO 👏 OR 👏 DNI! 👏 Head on over to @candybowbeansies please for my SFW pieces, or be blocked if you interact here! 😇
~His Masterlist~
DOWNRIGHT A CREEP THIS CRUSTY MAN
only psycho bitches like myself can love him 😂
I go all out! reader is gender neutral!
Took me a few days to complete this sorry not sorry
creepy shiggy under the cut<3
Creepy Shigaraki that runs the best haunted house in town, never shows his face and leaves journalists up to Kurogiri
Creepy Shigaraki who does horror game livestreams without showing his face, uses donations to pay for his special effects makeup and sculptures
Creepy Shigaraki that wears a Jigsaw-like persona(just the cruelty part, not the killer and definitely not the appearance 😂 tho he probably has killed a few ppl in the past) during livestreams, and voice acting horror shorts
Creepy Shigaraki that rigs up well thought out escape rooms and has a fanbase because of it
Creepy Shigaraki who makes custom masks, even has his own collection of different types of hand-shaped masks
Creepy Shigaraki that collects creepy taxidermy and real animal bones and skulls
Creepy Shigaraki that prefers using scentless candles over lightbulbs
Creepy Shigaraki who's wardrobe is all blacks and grays, the only splash of color being his favorite red converse hightops
Creepy Shigaraki who hangs around homeless people and dumpster fires and gets a kick from freaking randos out(he's known by the cops for pranking ppl, especially during October, so they don't come out to deal with him anymore because they've given up trying to make him stop. they cant do much bc he's not killing or assaulting ppl, just pulling pranks.)
Creepy Shigaraki that frequents the more iffy bars and clubs
Creepy Shigaraki that knows how creepy his smile is that's why he doesn't use chapsticks or moisturizers.
Creepy Shigaraki who's genuinely surprised and disappointed when he tries his smile on you to get a kick from freaking you out and you don't freak out while on your way to work
Creepy Shigaraki who from then tries to scare you, becomes more and more frustrated when his scare tactics don't work and even more so when you freaking laugh at his attempts
Creepy Shigaraki that gets woefully flustered when you start flirting with him, like completely red flustered
Um...he's not sure. You ARE totally flirting with him, right? Right? He's not hearing things? Seeing things?!?! Wtf...just, how...a guy like him...?
To answer the question; you totally are flirting with him.
Creepy Shigaraki who then scurries away with his tail between his legs, tries to avoid you like the plague, but can't small town
Creepy Shigaraki that knows he can't keep running away when he sees your name on that October's employee list as a monster for his attraction(he's gonna have to fit you out in costume, so he has no choice but to meet you-he does everyone's costumes and makeup)
Creepy Shigaraki who tries to keep his cool when you recognize him and bombard him with questions, and ask for his number.
"Yes, I work here. Yes, I run this place. And no, you can't have my number, but I can give you my email..."
To which you internally celebrate, because its a start
Creepy Shigaraki that finds out he genuinely enjoys emailing with you, eventually warms up and invites you to play horror games with him, not expecting you to join in
Once you do, it's where the good slow burn starts coming on.
Creepy Shigaraki that laughs at your shrieks when you find a particularly scary jumpscare in a game(if it doesn't scare you, please learn to fake it good. his genuine laugh is cute and addictive.)
Creepy Shigaraki who starts giving recommendations for horror games/movies/books. You have it bad for him, so you tend to binge on it so he can quiz you later.
"Hey, what about this? Graphics are ass, but the plotline's good. Well thought-out characters. Can lend it if you want. Just don't scratch it."
Creepy Shigaraki and you who have fell into an unspoken habit to technically go out for groceries together on weekends closer to sundown. man eats junk all the fucking time, so you offer to cook for him
"Wai--Hold up, no--no you can't. Well, um...maybe?"
"I guess...you know what, if it's okay with you. Since you're not afraid of, well, *snort* me."
"I have a lot of weird shit around my place, but if you're cool with that, sure."
Creepy Shigaraki who lives in a small apartment complex that looks surprisingly nice, where everybody knows everybody.
"Sure, it looks nice, but its very cheap. Landlords don't do much maintenance, there's rumors that it's haunted because people died here, which I assure you it's not." he sounded disappointed.
Creepy Shigaraki who's neighbors are equally as creepy, and very annoying to him.
As Shigaraki fishes his keys out of a pocket, his neighbor who's elbows were propped on his windowsill, window wide open, gives a low long whistle, both brows raised. "Hand twist, triple gawk, two thousand?" the heavily scarred man asks coquettishly, taking a swig of his cold beer. "Shut it, crispy." Shigaraki grunts. "Damn, ain't talkin' to you, crusty." 'Crispy' says mockingly. "Talkin' to that," he points to you, "Pretty thing right there." he says. Shigaraki sighs in exasperation, turning the key then the knob to crack open his door, shooting his neighbor a glare you couldn't see. "Dabi." he warns. Dabi's eyes widen minutely and he retreats with a low 'Damn, you needa get laid...' as he closes his window and drops his blinds.
Creepy Shigaraki that watches you work your magic in his small kitchen with keen interest. hasn't had a decent meal in years, so don't be surprised when he practically wolfs down what you made for him. invite yourself to make more, because he won't. pick a day!
Creepy Shigaraki who looks forward to your food, and eventually warms up to trying to help out and learn from you. keyword; try.
Long story short; man can't cook to save his life.
Creepy Shigaraki who after months finally begins to flirt back when you're in one of your flirty moods
YOUR PATIENCE HAS PAID OFF LADY OR GENT OR SOMEONE INBETWEEN
Creepy Shigaraki who hangs out with you more, in person instead of voice chat
Creepy Shigaraki who tends to scratch at or rub his neck when he's nervous, anxious or stressed
"This doesn't look right. It just doesn't look like what I have in mind. Damnit...it keeps coming out weird!"
Help him through his blocks when he's sculpting; ask him for details, to help him flesh out his ideas better. He would be so appreciative.
Creepy Shigaraki that has a stupidly cute habit of holding his pinkies out when he touches, holds, or grabs something(even when he drinks)
Creepy Shigaraki that soon finds himself just so stupid in love that he just pops the question without thinking one day
"Will you go out with me?"
There's a brief moment where you wonder if you heard him right, but when he becomes as stiff as a board, and slowly averts his gaze, you know you didn't hallucinate your crush asking you out.
You waltz on over, noticing his ears quickly reddening, and you lean to give him your bold answer; a soft peck on the corner of his mouth, just over his scar.
He jolts, releasing a cute noise in the back of his throat, face flush. "Guess that's a yes, then." he says, a small smile gracing his scarred lips as he leans back to plant a kiss on yours.

jjk; off-league
Tumblr media
summary; you decide to do a little boudoir photoshoot for yourself—a little sexy lingerie, some bunny ears, maybe even a little nudity to make you feel more body positive about yourself. that little photoshoot doesn’t end up being for yourself anymore when you accidentally send those sexy pictures to your stupidly hot, stupidly talented childhood friend who you haven’t spoken to since middle school graduation.  pairing; photographer!jk x fem!reader genre/warnings; childhood friends to lovers!au, flangst, mutual pining, feelings of insecurity and body image, suggestive language, nudity  w.c; 6.2k a/n: i was feeling a lil meh about this fic after finishing it but a month later it finally makes its debut! for @btsghostiewritersnet BGW Bingo Bash! today’s trope is “childhood friends to lovers” which surprisingly isn’t a favorite of mine so it was definitely a challenge to write!
“C’mon, I need your opinion. Deadass. Don’t just say shit to make me feel better.”
“Gimmie those nudes, baby girl,” Johnny makes an impeccable fuckboy impersonation, making you feel a little squirmy to your stomach.
It’s an hour away from being the ass-crack’o-dawn and your impromptu pin-up photoshoot just needs the sexy-star-of-approval from your best friend. Johnny Suh is also up for reasons unmentioned, but you had a feeling his pretty boyfriend is fifty percent of the reason.
You look at yourself in the mirror, smoothing your frame against the black bodice of the sheer teddy. The only parts that are fully concealed are the parts that don’t matter. The sheer bodice reveals your pert nipples concealed by a thin black mesh, coupled with the deep V in the sweetheart neckline, accented by a little black bow in the dive of your highlighted cleavage. The silky a-line raceways to a set of black garters hugging your thighs, barely hanging onto a pair of lace thigh-highs.
It doesn’t leave you butt naked, but enough to make you feel confident about yourself. These pictures are for you, and Johnny. And Johnny’s boyfriend if he’s being nosy.
You tug off the silk bunny ears from your head, flinging it somewhere in your room. The wire started to dig in your brain, giving you a major headache.
“Sending them now,” you hang up and start compiling the pictures in a folder on Google Drive. Once that’s done you copy the shareable link, sending it to Johnny’s number. It happens all so fast, and you feel kind of giddy. As you were posing for the camera, taking your time to find all the right angles, you felt good, you felt sexy in your little get up. Channeling your inner Ariana Grande was one of your childhood dreams, your fifteen year old self would be proud.
Five minutes pass, fifteen, and by the twenty-five minute mark you’re pissed. What’s taking Johnny so long?
Makeup scrubbed clean and face bare, you shuffle in your duvet, far too tired to be waiting up this long. Punching in his number once more, you cry, “Hey! Why haven’t you looked at them yet?”
“What?” your friend’s voice sounds pebbly through the line. Was Johnny sleeping? “You never sent them!” he whines tiredly.
“No, I definitely sent them!” you pull the phone away and keep Johnny on call, ready to prove him wrong.
But to your surprise, the last message you sent to Johnny was this afternoon.
The most recent message is to a person named John Kook.
You scream.
Johnny screams back at you with an equal amount of force, “What the fuck? Did someone break in? Are you being mobbed? See, this is why I wanted to put the baby monitor in your room—”
“Worse!” you’re well prepared for any break in, but not for this. “I sent my pics to the wrong John!”
“Well… is he at least cute?”
“I mean, in the fourth grade he looked pretty cute with that front tooth missing,” you find your output of frustration, your bunny plush, pulling it by the ear and hitting it against the bed. “His name isn’t even John! It was just his English name for a silly project we did in middle school. This is so embarrassing, all I can picture is a twelve-year-old Jungkook mortified from sexual harassment. I basically sent him nudes!”
“Tasteful nudes.”
“I’m gonna die.”
“He’s gonna die, of happiness.”
Jeon Jungkook was a classmate from elementary through middle school. Time and time again was he the object of your affections, from the first grade at the roller rink to the speech he made at graduation. But really, who cares? You’re old and have a job, and it’s not like you’ve communicated with any of your former classmates.
Your horror amplifies when the Delivered receipt is changed to Read 3:41AM.
“Fuck! Fuck me with a fuckin’ fuck nugget he saw it!” you cry, “does he still have my number? What if he deleted my contact, would that be even weirder?”
“Girl, stop.” Johnny sighs, and you can already picture him running his thumb between his brows. “This doesn’t change anything, alright? You two don’t know each other anymore. Block his number and go to sleep.”
Johnny leaves you alone after that, and you’re left alone to mull over the implications of sending Jeon Jungkook your nude photoshoot.
You do block his number, knowing that waiting for a reply would drive you nuts. The one thing that you do which is possibly worse, is look him up on Instagram.
Of course, he’s stupid hot.
He doesn’t seem to like being on the receiving end of the camera however, in favor of his timeline being filled with romantic shots of the beach and city. In between the picturesque views and watercolor sunsets do you see glimpses of him and his current life. You can’t help but smile when you see him with his brother and parents during his college graduation, easily towering over all of them. He looks tall with fluffy cocoa hair, big pearly whites gleaming proudly at the camera. He grew up well.
To torture yourself even more, you even look through his story. Twelve hours ago, he was at the gym lifting weights. Normally, you’d be disgusted by people trying to show off their grunt faces drenched in sweat, but of course Jungkook has to have on a silly smile and pump his fist up after he deadlifts. The sweat clinging to his shirt is also a high plus. His gorgeous display of abs has your hands fluttering over your own belly. Maybe you need to exercise more.
Four hours ago, you see him and a pretty woman with their cheeks squished together, using the puppy filter. Of course he has a girlfriend.
Reluctant, you open up your Google Drive and scroll through your photoshoot. Deflated, you frown at the pictures that once made you beam with pride, picking at every little detail that bothered you. You really can’t believe you sent these to Jeon Jungkook, no longer a fourth grader with one front tooth, but a man way out of your league.
By the time you will yourself to sleep, the sun peeks from the horizon, telling you to move on.
Tumblr media
“Hey Gyu,” you tiptoe over to the table much too small for Mingyu’s frame. The string bean is slumped over his iPad pro, drawing intently at some chibi OCs. “Got a plot for that one?” you ask, pointing at the little pink and blue creature decorating the screen.
Mingyu grunts in reply, obviously engrossed. It isn’t until you slide him a matcha frappe from Starbucks that he becomes intelligible, muttering a “thank you” as he blends with his pen.
Sensing that it’s going to be awhile before you get through to him, you take your usual rounds around the front desk and lobby of the cosy photo studio. There’s pretty pictures of Mingyu’s work, along with the other employees Minghao and Hoseok. Each section of the wall features a different taste of each person’s interest. Mingyu is a divine lover of soft bed sheets and hot tea, many of his photographs and paintings featuring cafes or perfectly messy beds you’ve seen on hotel advertisements. Minghao is a tasteful artisan, splotches of color retaliating against neutral backgrounds. Finally, Hoseok manages to find balance in the people, large cityscapes telling both large and small stories.
“Alright,” Mingyu’s deep voice forces you to curl your head, where he’s sipping at his drink with haste. “What’cha here for?”
You frown, “Don’t you remember? I told you last week I’d be stopping by to get my photos developed,” you gesture to the Pentax in your hands, an heirloom from your great-aunt. While you did take digital photos for sending them to Johnny, the ones you wanted developed were taken side-by-side with the film camera. You figured that film would give a little more authenticity to your photoshoot.
“Shit, that’s today?” the camera falls like deadweight, slapping against your sweater as you watch Mingyu frantically look through his digital calendar. He looks at you, dejected. “How many prints?”
“I don’t know, maybe like six. Or eight?”
“That’s gonna take too long, I’m heading down to Hidden Grounds for a vision meeting at two.”
“Alright, I’m free all day. What about after?”
“Nah, you came all this way. I can just let the new guy help you.” and Mingyu makes a show of cupping his hands in the direction of the open hallway, “Yah, Jeon Jungkook! Get your cute ass out here!”
The Pentax around your neck suddenly feels like weight akin to a two-ton boulder, and you surge forward, not caring that the corner of the table is digging into your belly. “Mingyu,” you garble, and Mingyu is shell-shocked by the desperation in your eyes. “Isn’t Minghao around or something? Or I can come back another time? These photos are really personal and I don’t feel comfortable having a stranger see them.”
“What? We’re professionals, don’t belittle us.”
“No, seriously,” you whine, you tug at the collar of his denim jacket, noses practically touching. “These pictures are different. My tits are out and my legs are spread—”
“—interrupting something?”
You hear some shuffling, and you turn around to see Jeon Jungkook’s back, comically turned to face the entrance.
And damn, he did have a cute ass. Nothing is going to hide the glory in those jeans, absolutely nothing.
“Hilarious,” Mingyu drawls, and you push him away. “Forget it, Kook. She doesn’t feel comfortable letting a stranger develop her photos.”
Sensing that it’s safe to turn around, you watch as his black bangs flutter as he faces you. You hope your body language doesn’t betray how you’re really feeling, because you are a mere mortal and you’re weak in the presence of god-like figures.
“Oh, what a relief then,” he smiles at you, and his voice sounds like honey. If there was malice or surprise in his tone, his good-natured expression betrays it. “Because I’ve known this friend since elementary school. We go way back.”
You ignore the burn in the back of your head, as you are positive Mingyu knows you’re hiding something.
“Really, what a coincidence.” Mingyu replies carefully, and you feel utterly stuck between these men and their banter, locked up like cream in an Oreo cookie.
Nothing argues against Jungkook as he easily weaves through the thick wave of awkwardness, hands reaching out to touch your camera. “Wow,” he marvels, holding the object in his hands, “my dad has one of these.”
“A-ha,” you take a step back, only to bump into the corner of the table, again. Ouch. “It’s okay, Jungkook. I’m actually busy today so I can come when Mingyu’s free–”
“Oh, I thought you were free all day,” Mingyu drawls, looking up through his lashes as he sips languidly at his drink.
“Don’t worry about it,” Jungkook says good-naturedly, as if Mingyu just didn’t out you. “We got a lot of catching up to do anyway, c’mon.”
Jungkook moves to place a hand in the small of your back and that’s enough to get you to rev up. Refusing to let any contact get between the two of you, you zip ahead down the familiar hallway, turning your head to catch Mingyu grinning with all canines, shooing you with his fingers like a puppy.
You send Mingyu a stream of “fuck yous” into his inbox for later, unwilling to settle with this curse. Busying yourself with your phone, you avoid eye contact with Jungkook until you reach the dark room. The red light turned off at the top of the doorhenge signals that the room is not in use. Jungkook makes a move to open the door and that’s when you pounce, blocking the doorway with your small body. It’s comical, really.
Jungkook raises a brow at you, but says nothing.
“I really can wait, Jungkook,” you steel yourself, forcing a sympathetic smile. “I’m sure your girlfriend wouldn’t like you developing my pictures—”
It’s then that his pretty cupid’s bow unfurls into a full-fledged grin. “Girlfriend... you’ve been keeping tabs on me?”
“Fuck, well I had to!” your face is as red as the dark room’s alert light, now on because Jungkook flicked the switch and he’s between your arm to unlock the door. Your hand brushes his as you both reach the knob. “I’m really really sorry I sent those pictures. They were for Johnny—you remember Johnny Suh from English class? And I saved you in my contacts as “John Kook” so it was an honest mess up.”
Jungkook hums, so light that the breathiness in his chords flutters your grip on the knob. He forces the door ajar, and you’re left to follow him in the dark room, cluttered with solutions and fancy equipment.
“Thought so,” Jungkook shrugged, giving a one-over at the materials in the room, mulling over his next steps in developing your film.
You’re still petrified at the doorway, holding your Pentax between both hands like a lifeline. Jungkook’s head lols to you, and you get a pretty view of the way his bangs brush over his forehead, Adam’s Apple bobbing. His expression is a little tired, but overall unreadable. He sighs your name, lethargic.
“We’re already here, so might as well get this done,” he gestures to the camera in your vice grip. “Do you wanna pick the shots or do you want me to?”
He’s already seen the digitals, what’s so different about getting a couple prints? With a slight pout you drag your feet over to him, relinquishing your camera. “I’m thinking you have a better eye for this than I do.”
“You think right.”
You fight the urge to roll your eyes. Cocky, but what you’ve seen on Instagram definitely justifies his sentiment. Jungkook pays no mind to you, busying his hands with the various containers in front of him, measuring the solutions for the developer, stopper, and fixer. You were always entranced by the process of developing film, especially in highschool where their photography club holed themselves in the darkroom like a secret lair.
“Alright,” he pops open the canister, carefully laying out sections of the film in groups of four. “Want me to pick a random one for a tester?”
You frown, “At least put some thought into it.”
“Always,” it looks like he already decided way before he popped the question, immediately taking a negative and placing it in the carrier.
His fingers are nimble as he takes the time to clean off the dust and any debris that could potentially ruin the image. Then he turns off the lights and begins the process. You dive around him, trying to keep your distance but still too curious to leave his side. If he’s annoyed he fails to show it, in favor of humming whatever song comes from his Echo Dot.
You always got the solos in choir. You wanted to reminisce, but you’re too nervous to say it out loud.
Even though it’s his job and he’s being a professional, you romanticize the experience, watching as he carefully puts the print in each liquid process. Your image blooms to life, and you feel your stomach churn as the photo develops before your eyes.
After a final dip in the solution stopper, he places the first product in a bath of water. Even though you are mere centimeters away, you can clearly see the image of you swimming around the container.
“Alright!” Jungkook hangs the finished picture on a pastel pink clothespin, tacking it in place. “Whaddya think?”
Your breath catches in your throat, feeling heavy as you look at the image of you reflected in the glossy paper. You’re perched on your bed, a hand splaying between your legs as the other hand toys with the silk bunny ears. You’re leaned slightly, giving an ample view of your cleavage. However, the image of you is definitely different from being blown up in comparison to the negatives, and you squirm uncomfortably at your full display.
“I look,” you bite your tongue, internally debating whether you like it or not. Not to spare Jungkook the theatrics you shrug, “It’s good.”
The lack of enthusiasm seems to dissatisfy Jungkook however, as he has to take a double take and look back and forth between the image and the real thing. “What’s wrong with it, do you think Johnny’ll not like it?”
“What?” you furrow your brows, breaking into a nervous laugh. “Johnny has a boyfriend. I just wanted his opinion. This photoshoot is for me, y’know? Just something to make me feel good about myself.”
Jungkook’s lips morph into a little ‘o’, and you see a little bit of the child you once knew in the way he’s mulling over the situation.
“Then can I give you my honest opinion?” Jungkook clips off the half-dried photo, holding it between you two. “Stop thinking so hard about every little thing you don’t like about yourself. If I was your boyfriend and you gifted this to me, I’d be creaming my pants. You look fucking sexy, all grown up since you cried in the fourth grade.”
You’ve just been flung a litany of words you have no brain capacity to digest. Along with that, the immense heat you didn’t know you’ve been suppressing surges to your belly, low and simmering. Jungkook stares at you in earnest, despite his sudden gush of honesty, you don’t know what to say. There’s a dash of pink staining his cheeks, betraying the confidence he previously displayed. He stiffens when you don’t reply immediately and moves to clean his materials, his sudden bout of bold honesty quickly shrinking.
“Y-you know,” you look down at your feet, “the only reason why I cried in the fourth grade was because you told me Santa wasn’t real.”
Jungkook softens, tilting his head. “Sorry about that.”
“Thanks though,” you gently reach for the photo in Jungkook’s grasp, looking at it without contempt. “But won’t your girlfriend be upset if she knew you were saying things like this about someone else?”
He chuckles, shaking his head. “Well, if you looked through the rest of my Instagram story,” Jungkooks cards a hand through his already mussed hair, splitting the ends. “You would see that she’s not my girlfriend, but my tattoo artist.”
For added measure, he wiggles his fingers in front of you, revealing pretty ink and silver bands across his knuckles.
“Oh,” your voice is feather light, and you’re sure you’re drooling as you stare far too long at the letters that mark his hands, curious as to what they symbolize.
“So, as a singleton telling another singleton,” he continues, “I know it’s meaningless if you don’t believe it yourself, but I’m telling you, you’re attractive.”
“Thanks,” you hold the picture tightly in your grasp, eyes flickering to the negatives in the room ready to be galvanized into a full-fledged picture. “Why don’t we wrap this up, huh? We can continue another time.”
If he notices how much the paper wilts in your grasp, he doesn’t comment on it. “Are you sure? I know it takes a lot of time, but I don’t mind.”
“I’m sure,” you force a smile, one hand on the lightswitch. “I’ll let you know when I’m ready, okay?”
Jungkook swallows, nodding mechanically. “Okay.”
“It was really nice seeing you, Kook.” you blurt before you could chicken out, letting the room bask in darkness a little longer so he can’t see your flustered state. “I’m not even going to downplay it, you look great.”
You half-expect a cocky remark, or a little chest pumping from the compliment. At the sound of his nickname however, 4th grade Jeon Jungkook resurfaces and he shoves his hands in his pockets. “Like I said, so do you,” he replies easily, sending you a soft smile and opening the door for you.
The door closes shut behind you and you exhale, patting your cheeks and willing for the chilly air to calm you down.
When you get home that day, you shuck off all your clothes and crawl into bed. You cry out when the metal framing of your bunny ears stabs you in the back, and you fling it to some unmentionable part of the room. You reach for a bag of half-opened sour gummy worms, flipping open your MacBook to continue streaming the soft magical girl anime you’ve been hooked on these past few weeks.
Not even Sailor Uranus can distract you; however, by the time it’s dark and you’ve run out of distractions, you finally pull the plug and unblock Jungkook from your list of contacts.
Your phone buzzes, the incessant vibration relaying all the messages you’ve missed.

John Kook: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/1/folders/049…
You tilt your head at the folder link, it was sent only a few hours ago. With a click, you’re enlightened to a set of digital photos. Your photos from your photoshoot, but not quite. They’ve been expertly edited, not too much to distort your looks, but only to enhance your features. A small, barely there smile creeps from your subconscious, ultimately touched by the gesture.
John Kook: sorry if i pushed too hard today.
Guilt overrides your nerves, prompting you to immediately press the call button on his contact. Not to your surprise, Jungkook’s light voice calls your name through the line after the second ring.
“Don’t be sorry,” you blurt, forgoing the hellos. “It was the right amount of push, I feel better, really. If anything, I’m sorry. I blocked your number because I was scared to read your reaction.”
You hear him sigh along the line, and you feel that breath ripple through your nerves, as if he’s right next to you. “It’s fine, I would’ve done the same thing.”
“The pictures you just sent, they’re really beautiful. You did a good job.”
“Thanks, I had a bit of help. I didn’t have to do much.”
“Oh, did Mingyu come back from his meeting?”
"No, I uh," Jungkook chuckles, and while you don't really know why, the sound is nonetheless pleasant. “It was mostly the lighting and coloring I fixed up. Didn’t need to do much since you already looked so pretty as it is.”
You choke on your saliva.
“You okay?”
“Y-yeah,” you cough, “just choked on a snack I was eating.” he hums in reply, and you pray he doesn’t hear your stomach fervently retort that you haven’t eaten since lunch. “So, I think I’m up for developing more of the film. When can I drop by?”
“I’m free Saturday,” Jungkook chirps, “I have a shoot until noon but you can come anytime after that.”
“Sounds good, I’ll be there,” you clutch the phone with both hands. “I can bring lunch. What do you like to eat?”
“Oh, you don’t have to do that.”
“I’m already buying for Minghao,” you lie, “do you like burgers?”
“I can’t say no to a good burger,” Jungkook’s smile feels almost palpable against the line, “do you remember our field trip to the national museum of history? We had burgers on the street!”
“Oh, those were so good,” you moan, fuzzy memories of a middle grade field trip resurfacing to clarity, “but you ate like, ten of them!”
“I still get nightmares,” he warns, “don’t let me go to bed like this.”
You giggle, letting your body meld further into your warm mattress. “Maybe I’ll just show up with ten burgers for you tomorrow.”
“I’ll throw up on you, try me.”
Tumblr media
Minghao’s adjusting the frames on their display wall by the centimeter, and it’s pissing him off.
“Ah, it’s off,” he mutters to himself when you walk in, indicated by the electronic bell. He turns to you briefly, pulling a leveler out of his overall pocket. “Doesn’t this look off?”
“Uh,” you look towards Mingyu at the front desk, who is paying no mind as he continues scribbling on his iPad. You tilt your head towards your former college classmate. “It doesn’t look off from over here?”
Tacking the leveler on one of the frames, he whines, “It’s five degrees off.”
Mingyu puts his pen down to reach over the counter and grab the paper from your hands, steaming with the scent of fast food, “He’s been like this for hours, don’t mind him.”
He doesn’t even ask whether the food is his, Mingyu sees grease and he claims. Reaching for an oil-wrapped parchment, he unfolds the paper to reveal a handsome burger with all the fix-ens.
Barely satisfied, Minghao steps away from the art display. There is a sizable gap in the display, now divided between four artists instead of three. You wonder how Jungkook’s work will look amongst the other artists.
“Cute ‘fit.” Minghao mumbles, nodding approvingly at your clothes as he digs into the bag for his own burger.
You send a half-smile his way. If an outfit is Minghao-approved, that means you’ve gone above and beyond. At least, you tried to play it off like you didn’t try to look cute. It’s not like you’re intimidated by Jungkook, living with a major fifteen-year glow up. After all, he’s already seen more than you can imagine.
Mingyu takes notice, eyes going south to where your white blouse meets your cleavage. You hurl a fry at his face, “Eyes up here, perv.”
He scrunches his nose, lifting a greasy thumb to slide a manila envelope over to you. “Here’s the developed pictures. Intercepted Kook and I finished them this morning.”
You frown, “Jungkook’s not done with his photoshoot yet?”
“Oh, he’s been done.” Mingyu’s eyes roll back to one of the studios. “But I’m saying is, you got what you needed. So you can leave if you want,” but he grins at you, canines so sharp you feel his stare jabbing you in the proverbial neck. “Unlesssss you want to go in and say hi.”
If he has any inkling of what’s going on in your head, it’s definitely confirmed when your face turns hot. Damn body, you’re betraying me! With a flourish you grab the fries from under Mingyu’s nose, along with whatever’s left in the fast food bag.
Minghao’s smiling through his burger, knowing if he pulls any type of savagery his lunch would certainly be pulled from under his chin.
“Whatever you’re thinking, drop it or the burger will be going in your ass instead of out.” You mean to sound menacing, but the Min-squared and their boisterous laughter follow you down the hallway and into the occupied studio.
“Hey Jungkoo—wow.”
You’re sure you look like Alice, enthralled by the little wonderland she just stepped into. The set is beautiful, right out of a fairytale. It has a very old-romance vibe, like Morticia and Gomez Addams. There lay a couch made of the darkest, richest wood, with velvet red cushions covering the body. Across the floor laid hundreds of black rose petals, blanketing the floor in a sea of ebony.
“It’s for a wedding, gothic themed.” Jungkook supplies helpfully, still fiddling with whatever he was looking on his digital camera. He’s looking utterly soft in a matching grey sweat combination, something that would easily disgust you during high school, but unfairly works with him.
“The shoot must’ve been beautiful.”
“It was.”
“I uh, got this for you.” Your fingers start to sweat from clutching the bag so hard, and you place it on his work table.
He finally looks up from his camera, giving you a wan smile. “I thought you got those for Minghao.”
You mentally slap your cheeks, trying to ignore the way his smile made your stomach do somersaults. “He got his own. Your portion has a cookie in it, so.”
His cute teeth unveil themselves at the mention of sweets, and you can’t help but smile back at the familiarity.
The two of you take your time in enjoying your lunch, not meaning to stay but the very back of your mind hoping he’d like to share a meal with you. After all, Mingyu and Minghao are probably at the front relishing in your very obvious attraction. What can you say, first crushes never die.
Between sips of your milkshake, you’ve taken to flipping through Jungkook’s portfolio. There’s a myriad of different subjects: beaches, people, the occasional squirrel. Each section of the portfolio feels like you’re being transported to a new side of Jungkook and his artistry, and you ached to know more.
“Wow,” you point at an action shot of two girls in a dance studio, “this duo looks like Chungha and Hyoyeon.”
He swallows his (second) burger, having the audacity to sink sheepishly in his sweater. “It is Chungha and Hyoyeon.”
You nearly choke on your cookie. “That’s amazing.” you say breathlessly, looking closer at the image. In fact, the beautiful women photographed are famed hip-hop choreographers Chungha and Hyoyeon. You can’t imagine how good Jungkook must be to manage a photoshoot with them.
As proud as you are of Jungkook, it reminds you that since middle school you two have lived completely different lives. You wonder if Jungkook gets these kinds of gigs all the time, hanging around with gorgeous, talented people like himself.
Jungkook says your name once, twice. He looks at you concerned, and you’re melting in his large carmine eyes. If he notices your usual overthinking, he doesn’t say anything, and gestures to the section at the end of his portfolio. “This isn’t my best work, but it’s one of my favorites.”
There’s something familiar about this set. A playground with a busted swing set. Children riding on bikes and colorful class shirts. Ice cream melting on fists.
Thirteen-year-old you hanging on top of your middle school’s leafless tree, clutching your baseball cap as you shade yourself from the sunset.
“Was this the first time you took pictures?” you ask, thumbing the picture of yourself.
“Yeah. It’s when I decided it’s what I wanted to do the rest of my life.”
“I know we didn’t know each other that well and we’ve only recently connected but,” you give him a shy smile, “I’m really proud of what you’ve grown up to be, Jungkook.”
He looks like you’ve hung him the moon and stars, his half-eaten burger loosening in his grasp. His lips are parted cutely, like a kitten who’s just been offered a fresh glass of milk. You cough at the sudden pause in conversation, feeling self-conscious of your impulse confession. You don’t even have it in you to be disgusted when Jungkook hastily shoves the second half of his burger down his throat, tips of his ears pink.
Leaving him be, you press a palm to your cheek, looking at the wedding set.
Jungkook downs half a water bottle before he speaks again. “Y’know, it would be a shame to clean up this set already. It was kind of expensive.”
“Yeah,” you echo, standing up and kicking off your slippers. You kick your feet in the air, watching the black petals kiss across your ankles.
“I have an idea,” he wipes his hands on his sweats, “why don’t you go back home and get an outfit you really like. Lingerie, a cute outfit, whatever. Let me give you a photoshoot you’d love.”
You look up from your petal dance, balking. “Jungkook! That’s not necessary, I told you the photos I took were okay.”
“Yeah but, you didn’t seem entirely happy. C’mon, I got a camera and a beautiful set. Why waste it?” his hands naturally gravitate towards his charging camera, already turning it on. “I can do lighting, I know all your good angles. What’s stopping us?”
Really, what’s stopping you? Your hands fiddle with your open flannel, the soft material comforting you as you look across the set. You try to imagine yourself, your body draped across the velvet pillows and black petals. Would it look good? Would you feel good? You think back to how you felt the first time, how scared you were when someone other than Johnny would be looking at your photos. You remember how something weird and sour contorted in your stomach when you scrolled through Jeon Jungkook’s Instagram, no longer the little boy you knew but a man who could have everything he wanted—
“Stop thinking about it.” Jungkook suddenly snaps, and you break from your reverie to catch him looking upset. It’s been awhile since you’ve seen him like that.
“Thinking about what?”
“Thinking that you’re out of my league.”
“Excuse me?”
“You were like this the other day too,” and he looks sad, and puts his camera down to come closer to you. “Why are you feeling this way. Is it me?”
“Not necessarily,” you huff, hugging yourself.
“Do you not feel beautiful? Do you not like your body?”
“No, I do.” you say to yourself, and you mean it. Even though there will inevitably be days where you may not feel one-hundred percent positive about yourself, you know at the end of the day, you love you and all its parts. “I don’t know, Jungkook. I had no problem letting Mingyu develop the photos originally, because he knew me in college and I was already sure of myself back then. But I guess when I sent them to you, I felt like I did when I was a little girl, y’know? Going through puberty, and worrying about what other people think.”
And it’s not like Jungkook teased you or made you feel lesser of yourself. In fact, Jungkook was the student you wanted to be when you were younger. Someone sweet and caring, and unabashedly confident about himself.
“I guess seeing you so successful and the fact that my stupid childhood crush came back from a time where I always felt low, made me feel a little insecure again.”
Something sinks in and you feel hyper aware of how crushed Jungkook looks at your declaration. “There’s no leagues, you got that?” he says quietly, walking so close that he’s hovering over you, sneakers brushing. “I get it. I get unsure and insecure just like you. Hell, I was nervous this morning, wondering if you’d really come. We may not feel insecure over the same things, but middle school wasn’t that great for me either.” He makes a funny face, and you feel a smile twitch across your lips. “But it’s okay. Because we’re human and we grow. But now, you are successful. You’ve grown from your time growing up and you’re a wonderful, powerful person. I’m proud of you too.”
“I know,” you mumble, leaning your forehead against his chest. His arms wrap around you in response, holding you snug.
“And for the record, I thought you were the most beautiful person in the world in fourth grade. Even though my world was pretty small back then, I can say now that what I thought back then still stands true.”
You look up from his embrace, where he’s leaning down to press a slow, cotton soft kiss to your forehead. He backs up a little to read your face, and you give a tiny nod in response to signal it’s okay. Jungkook exhales in contentment, relaxing against your frame.
“Thanks, Kook,” you crack a smile, feeling your insecurities slowly evaporate. You feel better, light, knowing that these negative feelings are only temporary, and you’re not alone. Being in Jungkook’s arms, an honest boy turned man you’ve known all your life, it feels almost like home.
You two stay like this for a while. Exchanging feather-like kisses, feeling irrevocably young and hopeful. Suddenly feeling emboldened, you tug him by the strings of his hoodie to press a long, hot kiss to his lips. There’s a stutter, and you’re pretty sure Jungkook choked on his saliva at the sudden change of pace but you continue, letting Jungkook catch up and follow your lead.
“Wow,” Jungkook pulls away and his lips are shiny and flushed. Adorable. You think 7th grade Jungkook would be rolling in his Naruto sheets if he knew you two would inevitably end up together. Conversely, 7th grade you would be squealing in your kitten plushie, proud that you managed to nab your childhood crush to live out all the fantasies you’ve imagined since the 4th grade.
“Jungkook,” you let your flannel fall to the floor in a heap, only leaving your baby blue top in a thin ruched camisole. “I think I want to do the photoshoot. Can’t pass up these pretty petals, y’know?”
He runs a hand through his hair, gaping. “Really?”
“Yeah,” you press a wet kiss to his neck, “anyway you want me, baby. Full creative control. I want you to like this as much as I do, okay?”
With the permission to hold the wheel, Jungkook’s lightheaded and spinning. His eyes rake up and down your gorgeous form, wondering how many good deeds he’s done in his past life to earn a right just as this.
“In that case,” he presses a palm to your shoulder, pushing you to sit along the velvet cushion, “strip for me.”

Falling For You || Miraculous Ladybug AU - Chapter 2
AO3 | Falling - AU Series
[Previous] | [Next]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After her encounter with that new girl yesterday, Marinette was in a sort of daze. She had never felt this way before, yet the girl was on her mind for the entirety of that night. Her beautiful chocolate brown eyes gleaming with an unreadable emotion, her short flowing hair, a few shades darker than her own…
She sighed dreamily as she relaxed into her blankets, patrol had gone fairly well - sure she wasn't too thrilled about Crimson bailing on her and leaving her to do her job alone in the rain, but meeting that girl had certainly lifted her spirits.
She was on the brink of sleep, her thoughts becoming muddled together until one thought, louder than the rest, was suddenly brought to her attention and she shot up in bed, her eyes full of panic.
“I forgot to ask her name!” Marinette whisper-yelled, aware her parents were sleeping just a few doors away.
Plagg, who had been curled up asleep on her pillow, gave no reaction to the horror-struck expression on her face and simply muttered under his breath before rolling over again.
“Plagg! What was that anyway?” Marinette demanded, “I mean Princess? What kind of nickname is that?”
“Hey, I didn't flirt with that girl, you did.” Plagg's voice was muffled as he tried to tune out her voice under the blankets.
“Well it was still your influence.”
“Meh.” The small kwami shrugged before rolling back over.
Marinette rolled her eyes, frowning slightly as she reached out for her phone - blinking rapidly as her eyes adjusted to the harsh brightness of her screen. Almost two in the morning, she groaned to herself, maybe she and Crimson needed to talk about how late their patrols were getting.
A brief notification flashed up on her phone, it was Adrien of course, sending a string of memes in their shared group chat with Alya and Nino. Marinette scoffed lightly before she placed her phone back down next to her pillow, not really in the mood to chat so early in the morning.
She could hear Plagg's soft snores from the other side of her pillow, careful not to wake him again she moved slowly as she turned over and pulled the blankets up to her chin. She could think about that girl later, right now all she wanted was some sleep before she faced another day at school.
Sleep came as quickly as before only this time she managed to remain asleep without an sudden realizations hitting her.
~~~
Though it felt like only a few seconds until she was woken once again by the sound of her alarm blaring underneath her pillow, Plagg floated above her, his expression unreadable. Marinette blinked the sleep out of her eyes as she reached under her pillow to shut the alarm off.
Crap . Her eyes widened. She was going to be late - she hopped out of bed, almost stumbling over but luckily she caught herself and proceeded to run over to the closet to find some clothes to wear.
“Why didn't you tell me it was so late?” Marinette hissed accusingly at Plagg.
“Is that my job?” Plagg twitched an ear casually, “hey where's my cheese, you were too busy thinkin' about that girl last night that you forgot to give me any.”
“I'll give you your stinkin' cheese once I'm dressed and actually able to think.” Marinette retorted, picking out a pair of jeans, a plain polo and a nice blue checkered shirt - maybe it's time I did switch things up a bit. She thought.
Racing into the bathroom she quickly put the outfit on, brushing her teeth just as fast she darted back into her room, pulling on her shoes and socks. Plagg watched, eyes lit up with amusement as she stumbled over multiple times in her panic.
She pulled her hair up into a small ponytail, not having enough time to put her hair into its usual style she grabbed her bag and gestured for Plagg to go inside.
“Cheese.” The black kwami said simply, folding his tiny arms across his chest.
“It's in the bag, now hurry up we need to go!”
Plagg zipped over as soon as she told him where the cheese was, she heard his quiet, contented purrs as he chewed at the camembert inside. She sighed, climbing down the ladder and walking through the bakery. Her parents were doing some deliveries early so she wasn't surprised when she didn't see them up to their usual business in the morning.
Usually it was her mom that woke her up if she slept in so late, Plagg wasn't usually bothered much if they were late or not, he just cared about his morning cheese.
She heaved a sigh, slinging her bag over her shoulder as she made her way outside, careful to remember to lock the doors as she did. She navigated her way through the busy streets of Paris, checking her phone every few seconds to keep a close eye on the time.
As she walked, her mind wandered back to last night, the girl - she really should've remembered to ask her name - was at the center of her thoughts. Better just forget about it now, she thought to herself, gripping the straps of her backpack tightly, it's just one girl in a sea of millions, I probably won't see her again.
She met Alya at the foot of the stairs to their school, the other girl was tapping her foot against the pavement rhythmically, a huge grin lit up her features.
“Hey, not too late, an improvement.” Alya congratulated.
“What're you so happy about?” Marinette questioned, coming to a stop beside her.
“Oh nothing,” Alya's smile got somehow larger, “just… guess who got an exclusive interview with the Bug himself!”
An interview with Crimson? Huh, Marinette never really thought Crim would be so open to doing interviews, even with a lesser known website such as the Crimson Blog. Though she had to owe it to Alya, that girl sure was dedicated to her work.
“How'd you manage that?” She said, smiling as the two started towards the door together.
“After yesterday's akuma attack he had some time left so I just quickly asked if he'd be willing to do a short interview about himself and Lady Noire. I tried to get her too but she was already gone after the attack.” She seemed slightly disappointed about that fact, admittedly that made Marinette's ego grow a little bit - she'd always thought that not many people cared about her compared to Crimson.
“I'm sure you'll get her next time.”
“I hope so! I have so many questions about their powers and where they came from—” Alya started babbling on, Marinette listened intently to her friend, still smiling to herself.
It had been almost a full year since she'd received the ring along with Plagg and her new duty as a protector of Paris - almost a full year since Hawkmoth had started akumatizing innocent people and using them against their will to attempt to gain hers and Crimson's Miraculous.
For whatever purpose that was for.
In that time Marinette had seen a lot of close calls, the battles were tough and only getting tougher, but as long as Crimson was still standing to purify the akuma and fix everything then it was okay.
Even if it meant sometimes sacrificing herself for his safety.
She shuddered.
Luckily, both she and Alya had a free period to share that morning until their next class after lunch, so the two girls took a seat on a bench closest to the yard. Alya continued talking about her admiration for Crimson and Lady Noire, and Marinette listened, though this was something she heard from Alya almost everyday she was still interested to know every detail.
“Sup dudes!” She raised her head to see Nino striding over, Adrien in tow. The blonde was beaming at them both.
“Hey babe,” Alya smiled, sitting up to embrace her boyfriend in a delicate hug, both Marinette and Adrien rolled their eyes in unison.
“Hey lovebirds, us single pringle's are tired of watching you guys make out all the time.” Marinette chirped as Alya leaned in for a kiss.
“Yeah I'm kinda feeling like a third wheel here.” Adrien added.
“Fourth wheel.” Marinette corrected.
“Just because you guys can't find partners for yourselves doesn't mean you have to be salty about it.” Alya scoffed, giving Nino a brief kiss on the cheek before turning back to face them.
Adrien scoffed, “I could if I wanted to.”
“Alright sunshine incarnate.”
“I could!”
“Mari couldn't possibly find a girlfriend, she literally shuts down when she so much as looks at a girl.” Nino put in.
“Dude.” Marinette said disapprovingly.
“He's not wrong.”
Suddenly Adrien snapped his fingers, “I forgot to mention, there's a new student that should be arriving shortly who I want you to meet.”
“New student huh? Who are they?”
“She should be here pretty soon.”
Alya elbowed Marinette lightly, “looks like this could be your chance to prove us wrong.”
Marinette shot her friend a quick glare.
Adrien looked over his shoulder, he then smiled and turned on his heel, “there she is. Hey Kagami!” He called out.
Marinette looked over to see a strikingly familiar girl walking up to them, dressed in a black shirt with a checkered red tie, a formal white blazer with a skirt matching the pattern of her tie and red sneakers. Dark hair, a few shades deeper than her own and dazzling, brown eyes.
No way, no way, no fucking way. Marinette thought in disbelief.
“Guys this is Kagami, she recently moved to Paris. Kagami, these are my friends, Alya, her boyfriend Nino and Marinette.” Adrien said cheerfully.
“Hey girl.” Alya said warmly.
“Nice to meet you dudette!” Nino dipped his hat in greeting.
Marinette could only manage a casual wave.
“It's a pleasure to meet all of you, I hope we can all become good friends.” Kagami said, the edges or her lips twitched upwards into a small smile.
Why couldn't she talk to her? She certainly had no problem with doing it last night. She cringed, remembering how she'd flirted and called her Princess . Way to screw up a first impression.
“I'm sure we will, any friend of Adrien is a friend of ours.” Alya told her.
Except Chloe. Marinette added on silently.
“That's very kind of you.”
The group immediately dissolved into chatter, Alya was on her feet again, suddenly asking Kagami a string of questions.
“So, have you seen Crimson and Lady Noire yet?”
Marinette snapped her head up quickly, her attention pertained towards Kagami once again at Alya's question.
“I encountered Lady Noire last night.” Kagami said casually.
Marinette eagerly waited for her to say more on the subject.
“You talked to Lady Noire? Girl, tell me everything! ” Alya practically squealed.
Kagami seemed surprised, she most likely hadn't had this much social interaction before and was caught off guard.
“Well it was a very short meeting, but I had a small accident and luckily she happened to be passing by.”
“Saved by a heroine on your first day in Paris, what a story!”
Marinette chuckled to herself.
She looked back up at Kagami who was looking more comfortable around the group already and a warm feeling filled her chest, she really hoped she'd get to know the girl more. Though, that was considering that she'd be able to form a single sentence when talking to her.
She furrowed her brow slightly, it seemed all the confidence she had as Lady Noire melted away the moment the mask disappeared. Great, just wonderful .
She swore she could almost feel Plagg's shaking laughter from her purse.
