READY TO BRUNCH: BRUNCH BABES GO SEE TWICE IN CONCERT

Because I'm simply incapable of not filtering anything I'm doing through a writing lens... last night I was enjoying my TWICE girlies in concert when on song three, i got slapped with an intrusive thought:

I mean, what is more brunch babes core than a group of pretty sweet wonderful talented girlies???? and there ARE NINE OF THEM. Hence, this playlist is... just the setlist that I saw last night lmao. Imagine, Brunch Babes going to see Twice in concert and just having a dang good time.

I love this song so much, I think it’s just very emblematic of finding someone you click with! It doesn’t necessarily have to be a lover, because it’s just about someone who you love to spend time with and who you’re so connected with, and I just think it’s perfect for Juno since we’ve been seeing them connect for MONTHS.

The potluck had actually gone really well! Not that Mirabel was worried. Papá knew what he was doing. And Isabela, annoyingly enough, also knew what she was doing. Mirabel had no reason to doubt them. The only thing she’d really been concerned about was the possibility of accidentally messing something up herself.

But instead she’d walked away with one successful campaign event done and also some new information about her cousin, Dolores... that she was very much trying to meet someone this cuffing season. 

Mirabel didn’t think she knew all that much about dating— she’d never had an actual partner before, and she had only just figured out why it had never clicked for her with boys— but it was all just a bit of silly fun, swiping through Lo’s Tinder. And it was one of those moments when she was so happy that she was out now. She didn’t have to overthink the way she talked about everyone she saw, to try and figure out what it was that other girls were seeing in boys.

“Oooh, already found one of the other Board candidates!” Mirabel giggled, turning the phone around to show Lo.

AlTheConqueror doesn’t mess around. He’s a serious gamer, with all the awards and accolades and stats to prove it. And maybe he’s struggling to get his business partners to pull their weight at the comic shop they own together, and maybe his love life’s been stalled ever since he found out his online girlfriend was catfishing him, and maybe he’s feeling kind of lost, but at least he’s got his stats.

So when a family emergency leads to Al’s niece coming to stay with him for the summer and he finds out she’s a gamer, he’s thrilled. Maybe the circumstances aren’t ideal, but he’s happy to impart his knowledge and feel like he can do something useful... that is, until he realizes just what kind of gamer she is. She likes... girly games. The kind of games that are more focused on catching fish and romancing NPCs than crushing armies in battle. 

There’s only one person he knows who’s into that kind of thing...

SweetNLo doesn’t discriminate. She’ll try any game once, and most of them two or three times. But she knows one of her party members, AlTheConqueror looks down on her quaint slice-of-life games. So when he messages her out of the blue asking her for advice, at first, she thinks it’s a joke. 

But she agrees to help him anyway, against her better judgment. And over hours and hours of voice chat, over pages and pages of Discord messages, and maybe with a little meddling from a certain amateur gamer, Al and Lo start to discover there’s more than meets the eye... both when it comes to the games they like, and the stories they’ve believed about each other.

DOLORES: The adults didn’t know what they were doing. Not as time passed and no story was told. Sure Isa and Jun were on the belief that this was a bad thing. That this had the potential to be horrible but Dolores saw this as a chance for happiness.

To rebuild after tragedy continued to play in their stories.

They could be whole again. 

And yet Isa was telling them to go to Abuela, When Tia wanted to hear from the kids.

Wasn’t that enough to bring them in? That the adults were seeking out Isa.

They could be doing their best but why was it only up to them?

Why did Dolores have to pretend she didn’t know and watch everyone suffer. They were all adults now. And Tia wanted to know from their point of view. It basically justified everything that Dolores had been thinking, They needed help.

But how did she help? She couldn’t just march herself into the conversation even if she wanted to.

She was pacing around trying to figure that out, distracted with Isa and Tia Julieta’s conversation she didn’t even here the foots steps until Cami was already there.

“Whoa when did you get here.”

Reza thought it was about time he bought Gil that coffee he promised, so they made plans to meet at [name redacted].

Sabiha thought she was very funny, calling her father having plans to meet Gil for coffee a “dude date.” She followed up by emulating her Amma Fadela and absolutely roasting her father, telling him ‘wow, Baba! I didn’t know you had friends!’ which, ow?

Had Sabiha not been just around the corner with her pet snake last time Simba came over? Rude-ass kid. Who raised her? ..right. That would be him.

“Asslema, it’s good to see you again,” Reza said in greeting, naturally speaking in his first language. Not that he had any issues with English (perks of being a sorcerer with the gift of tongues as your raw magic), but he always automatically spoke Arabic or French if he knew someone spoke it. 

“Promised I’d get you back soon. I hope all is well?”
