"Are ya sure they'll like me?" I put my hands on my hips while JJ kissed my cheek.

"Of course they'll like you baby. You're amazing." I bit my lip and fixed my flannel a bit. The first three buttons were undone and the bottom of the shirt was tucked into my jean shorts. "Let's just go, ok?"

"Ok." I sighed as she grabbed my hand, pulling me into her friends apartment.

"Hey everyone! This is my girlfriend...y/n." JJ introduced me with an arm around my waist, keeping me close.

"Hi!" They all said almost at the same time.

"Hey y'all!" I turned to JJ with a rosy blush. "Now what do I do? This feels awkward." I leaned into her.

"That's because Derek is staring at your boobs."

"Don't get yourself all tore up about it. I know my assets." I pecked her lips, feeling her smiling into the kiss.

"Where are you from?" I pulled away from the kiss and looked towards a raven haired lady who had asked the question.

"Texas. Do y'all have any Coke?"

"Mhm. Right over here hon." A happy blonde lady led me over to the kitchen. I saw a bunch of soda cans sitting on the table so I picked up a Sprite. "I thought you wanted a Coke."

"Yeah. Coke. Soda is Coke where I'm from." I explained, taking a sip. "I've never been to the north."

"You haven't?" She crinkled her nose while smiling and I almost jumped when I felt a pair of arms snake around my waist but then relaxed when I realized it was JJ.

"If it wasn't for this girl I would still be down south." I took another sip of my soda, leaning back into my girl.

"She likes it up here." JJ kissed my cheek. "We're gonna go up to Boston next weekend."

"Yeah?" Penelope sat down on the couch and I soon realized everyone else had made their way into the room.

"Hey y/n. I'm Spence. It's nice to meet you." I shook hands with a tall lanky brunette. I had to tilt my head up to meet his eyes.

"I'm Derek. But people call me Morgan." I shook his hand and smiled. So this was the guy that was staring at my boobs, and he still was. I might as well put on a little show for him. I unbuttoned my shirt a bit further before looking back at JJ. She blushed before pulling me down onto a chair so I could sit on her lap.

"Jareau, I didn't know cowgirls were your kind of thing." Morgan smirked before sitting down next to Penelope. I felt a twang of insecurity in my chest but I pushed it away, wrapping my arms around JJ's shoulders and holding her close. I was big on PDA and when I found out JJ's love language was physical touch I used it as much as I could, wanting to make her feel loved.

"Well I've never met someone as special as her. So she's definitely my thing." She gently caressed my waist with her thumb.

"So what's it like down in Texas?" Morgan imitated my accent.

"There's a lot of rednecks and shotguns down there." I said back with my souther sass. JJ squeezed my waist, telling me to back down a bit but I couldn't help it. Being from the south and dealing with jackasses everyday had sort of become a part of my personality. I crossed my legs on her lap, staring Morgan down.

"How long have you two been together?" Emily asked.

"Nine months." JJ and I said at the same time.

"Nine months...you guys met on our case in Texas?" Emily smiled as she put the pieces together.

"I met her at a bar, she was kicking them out after a fight."

"They got in a big hissy fit over who the girl was looking at." I rolled my eyes. "Men can be so fragile." JJ kissed my jaw, making me blush. I wasn't one to blush but I was a sucker for jaw kisses.

"Let's get out of here." She whispered.

"What?"

"You've met them good enough, let's go." She dragged me outside and the door was barely closed before she had me pushed against the wall, kissing me passionately. "You were so hot back there."

"Hey ladies-" I heard an unfamiliar voice and froze. JJ backed off of my slowly but leaned in to cover my chest. "Sorry...I was just wondering if you wanted some cupcakes?" It was Penelope.

"Yeah Pen, thanks." JJ took the plate from her and waited for her to leave before making out with me again.

"Jayje, not in the hallway, sugar." I pushed her away a bit.

"You're gonna be the death of me." She groaned against my lips before kissing all over my face.

height chart time!

over at twitter i didn't really get to write ANYTHING soo...let's talk about this AU for a bit here! nothing important, just some thoughts and maybe some spoilers hehe (there is 100% spoilers LMAO)

this is a passion project of mine born from my WAY TOO STRONG hyperfixation on spooky month and my LOVE for slime rancher! it's been in my head since around November 2023, but only did i start REALLY thinking about it in around the middle of January 2024. i was on a family trip, it was super late at night and i was daydreaming about spooky month as i looked out the window... at some point i started to think about...what if Lila was on the far far range? then i started to plan; a new island on the far far range, a sort of market instead of the thingy (no idea what it's called) that Beatrix uses to interact with NPC's in practice it'd be very similar. you walk up to a stand (that looks according to the person and what they want) and they'd pop up all hologram-like! then bow, you talk, you sell them stuff, amazing! of course in this AU some people actually go to Lila's house, like Frank! you know that little spot behind Beatrix's place back in the game? well, there! every once in a while Frank would show up in his flying van, offering items you can buy :D some would be...less than needed (like heart beets and such) OR they could be something wonderful! like Gilded Ginger! or other illegal items shh...no one can know... anyway! then i started using milanote (which i recommend) and started figuring out the story and characters here's a screenshot! a lot of things were changed soo...take it with a grain of salt ;)

i did a lot of sketches on random bits of paper and my phone (which i won't be adding here cuz they're not needed :P) figuring out character designs, and eventually moved on to start doing the character sheets on my pc! you might've noticed, but i really thought of this first as if it was a videogame it will never be, don't get me wrong, but it started from there and THEN i started to think of it simply as a story i want to tell there's still a long way to go, but i have so many cool ideas i JUST WANNA START WORKING! i got sick recently (and still am tbh) so i'm taking a bit of a break tho.. i have a lot of ideas for the story, and am already planning out a small animatic...but again, no promises! i don't even know if i'll do everything drawn or i'll write stuff out too! i mean, i might even get bored and never touch this again LMAO i'm writing this on the 29th, so i haven't watched the new EP yet...but i imagine a lot of things will be changed once it comes out so, one last time, everything i say and do is up to change! i'm in no way a professional and this is just a side thing i'm doing while actively working and studying. i'm just a guy after all. i hope you guys like this as much as i do, and i can't WAIT to give you more information! that's it for now, i gotta do my music homework LMAO--take care everyone :)

Not so much the art hoe, but the person with so much intense feelings they need to channel it, their house is covered in unfinished books and paintings, poetry, instruments, drafts and so on, the kind that can't help but let their feeling and creativity and sensitivity seep into every part of their life, the way they dress to the way they talk, wether it's noticable or not

Who would somewhat share these artistic endeavors with their partner, admire it ? I can imagine so many of them looking so very lost when they are shown modern art lmao

Well I think most of them would be cool with that but these are the first few who popped into my mind

Mitsuya- He's also a very creative guy so he gets it. Like you he also has a lot of unfinished projects and notes/ designs about future projects scattered around. He just finds you interesting and loves how your passion and creativity seeps into every part of your life. He feels inspired whenever he sees you and loves every part of you.

Ran- He has no idea what any of this means but he thinks he does. He may be a little clueless at times but he's very enthusiastic about you and your hobbies. Always supporting you and encouraging you to do more. He's also very good at making sure you take breaks too (will drag you to bed if you stay up too long and order your favourite food if you haven't eaten in a while). He just loves how unique you are and admires everything you do.

Izana- He's not entirely sure why at first but he was drawn to you, he loves people who can be themselves. Listens to everything you explain to him and offers helpful advice when you ask for it. His favourite times are when it's just the two of you and he's playing something on his guitar while you're working on a project. Something about the two of you enjoying each other's company while doing your own things relaxes him.

Chifuyu- He's just so enthusiastic about you! He doesn't really know much about art but is eager to learn about it for you. He asks a lot of questions and takes a lot of interest in your hobbies. He's also constantly showing you off and telling others about how good you are at everything.

You're so upset that canon is controlling your life and basically like ENSLAVING you that you're desperate

Lmao Peter B sneaks back to see you even though he isn't supposed to and finds you, he's ecstatic, "oh my god you're SUPER pregnant!" and he knows he isn't supposed to see you but he zips it and goes back home and, months later he visits you again with gifts, "so where's the baby?" "I dunno, where IS the baby? :)"

Would the baby technically be an anomaly since you weren't supposed to have it, not like this? What if they had to get rid of it to re-stabilize the timeline or whatever? Now you're being EXTRA shunned because, "wow you went through all that just for yourself huh 🙄 you'd rather abandon a baby than get married..." like people just beyond appalled with you, meanwhile you feel extra victimized because, wow that was all for nothing, you're trying to rethink strategies since "the contigency" didn't work out.

Miguel MAKING YOU raise it even if its like tbh a fucked up little accident, or, if it's the whole "anomaly baby's gotta go" situation, after the, uh, disposal, he realizes he's pushed you way too far and you're too stressed and scared to think and behave rationally anymore and THIS is where he basically assigns himself as your caretaker and eventually takes you for himself which is kiiiiiiiiinda for the best because you're losing it a little. Like idk I imagine with LYLA maybe he has her programmed to tell him his own canon or he can look at it himself but like, what if he avoided spoilers because he wanted his behavior with you to be authentic or whatever. Like Miguel 2 might let him know "yeah dude turns out we hook up with them in a lot of different universes, it's almost like a separate canon like Peter Parker having Mary Jane" and Miguel takes some sneak peeks at other realities and then he shuts himself off from it so he can move forward of his own accord, but he now knows a sort of guideline and maybe some things to avoid doing (he can see the reality where the YouTwo disaster is going down and he's like "I would NEVER make MY You feel replaced *acts like having Mom!You and Miguel2 around doesn't count, the denial is stored in his ass, that's why it's so big*")

He's got a little notebook or data log where he takes down notes and details on things you like, things he notices about you, things you do often, habits, favorite foods, favorite color, how often are you doing your laundry (he knows you keep re-wearing that bra, girl), are you making your bed, how well are you functioning. Jesus, he literally has technology that can recreate extremely hyperdetailed recreation simulations; if he isn't outright putting camera bots in your room, he can "recreate" however you've been spending your day. He can learn all your routines and rituals and habits, decide what things may be problems, what things you might need more of in your life, he's, studying you really, with a romantic and almost scientific obsession

Not to be all 50 shades of gray in here but would Miguel eventually come onto you, all pent up and control finally bursting, "if we were made for each other, you must like taking it as hard as I like to give it" and whether you want it or not he takes you, and your bodies feel like they fit together perfectly, he stretches you out and fills you up JUST right, you can't help but have your eyes roll into the back of your head with how good it is, and of course he used any good reactions out of you as an excuse/"sign" he's doing the right thing and to keep going, that you're consenting, that he's finally winning you over

Now I don't have much to say, I'm not great with these big, moving speeches but I truly believe in this cause. I want things to change especially now since we may or may not be also teaming up with CS2 according to vvvv

It doesn't matter if you know the game or not, we just really need your help with getting Valve to fix the bot/hacker/doxxer, problem. And now for the OC. This character class is called, "The Lurker", their names are Ziggy(Blu) and Zeb(Red). I'm gonna be honest with you, I don't have much on them, mostly because I am just going through a TF2 phase and was pretty much just combining 3 characters till it evolved into more characters so now I have 12 now I think, 4 drawn and 8 yet to be drawn. Also the class emblems that I put with the characters I do make myself and I have to hand draw the characters before I put them into chrome canvas to draw a second time, so I am sorry if these do take a while to put out ^^;. The reason why also would be that I have to actually come up with what the class emblem would be.

...but, there's not too much to say about her just yet jhfdgfd. Still, let's come up with some basics!

I haven't drawn her yet, cuz my art brain hasn't been working lately, but she's got long blonde hair, heavier-set, green sweater, blue jeans, and currently pure black eyes unless I decide to make her a Descendant when I finally do draw her, but I dooon't think I will—

She's actually based on the blonde minifigure girl with the Green Ninja sweater from the Ninjago City Gardens set, but I guess that minifig is named Christina and not Samantha, sooo....Christina is now Samantha's older sister hgfdhgfd

She's a vocal Lloyd Garmadon hater at first (and she keeps forgetting about Zane's warnings about it, rip), even when Sunni tries to convince her to give him the benefit of the doubt—it's also highly ironic considering she's also a Green Ninja super fan, so. She's gonna have some thoughts to process down the line hjgfdsagfd

She and Sunni have been friends since they were young children, with both of their somewhat wealthy families running in similar circles (and their older sisters being friends as well). Sunni was always the 'smart' one while Samantha was more of the 'social' one.

She keeps warning Sunni about why it might be a good idea to move on from any thoughts of grandeur about Jay, but Sunni assures that it's just a casual, fleeting crush and nothing is probably going to go anywhere with it..............

...Not that Samantha is any better when it comes to Jesse shgfdghfd

She only started noticing him after the Talent Show (despite the fact that Jesse points out that he's been sitting next to her in Student Council for months before then and nothing happened then), so he's convinced that her following flirting and whatnot is purely superficial and will fade eventually.

But she's seen Jesse at his finest and now can't get him out of her head, even if she too knows she probably doesn't really have a chance. Also mostly unlike Sunni, him dating Cole doesn't stop her lmao

But there is a lil scene during the school dance shenanigans where Jesse and Jay do (ONE) dance with the girls and their nights are made <3

Anywaaaay, Samantha's real point for existence is to give a 'face' for the Non-Cabinet Student Council members (cuz I got tired of them all being nameless soundboards, but I didn't want to make a ton more characters, and I didn't want every/any already prominent character to be on the council when it wouldn't make sense, sooo...Samantha!)

She's also a part of the newspaper club with Antonia (that'll become more relevant Post-S4 when we get Nelson), she'll join the volleyball team (if I go through with my volleyball!harumi plans because it's funny, and she also apparently reads Harumi's fanfics hjgfgfd), and she's essentially Sunni's 'voice of normality' when Sunni starts getting tangled deeper in Ninja shenanigans, buuuut I don't really have plans for Samantha to be a major player in any way herself (...I said that about Sunni too though, and look what happened :V)

I am continuing with the sa reread!! hopefully it'll speed up now bc the bartending ✨️chaos season✨️ (aka the euros) is over, so I should have more time. also am on holiday this week and convinced I can get through the entirety of twok by saturday. I'm almost to part 3. my thoughts are as follows:

who are the three guys in the ishikk interlude? I say this, knowing 2/3 of the answer. one of them is galladon, right? and another is demoux? I know one if them is the nale lookalike mentioned in the sa5 interlude preview? do we have any more info on why they're looking for hoid yet? I vaguely remember these three always confusing me.

are the epigraphs for p2 the letter from hoid to frost? the 'old friend' threw me off bc that's how sazed refers to everyone in tlm, but I'm increasingly sure it makes sense that it's hoid.

also, GOD, dalinar and adolin's opening chapters are boring. ik they end up being two of my faves in the rest of the series so I've been slogging through them but they just seem to....not be doing a lot. obviously a lot of the point of their chapters is that the vengeance pact is becoming long and drawn out, and more about sport than anything else, so it kind of makes sense thematically. but still, doesn't feel like there's a lot to sink my teeth into.

relatedly, increasingly it does feel like kaladin is the Personality Hire of the original pov characters. like, he's got a lot less to say in terms of worldbuilding and setup for the general arc of the first half than shallan and dalinar, but he's the only real character who you care about enough to sink your teeth into the plot and properly root for on first read. I definitely felt that way to begin with and I still feel so on reread, so. you can also quite easily see him becoming marginally less relevant in later books so I wonder if part of it really is that he's just the first character you can really begin to love in this series. not saying I don't care for him in later books, obviously. but idk just a thought

I had completely forgotten he'd become a bridgeman by putting chull dung in sadeas' soup LMAO he's my favorite ever. also, when him and teft were asking each other's names and teft asked him what his real name was, I immediately said, out loud, 'numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor.' not sure what it says that I remembered this but forgot other characters' entire existence.

the other bridgemen make me 🥰🥰🥰 also. it surprises me on reread that sigzil was one of kaladin's biggest critics to begin with. it reads as kind of weird to me but I suppose the realities of bridgeman life would strip the fundamentals of anyone's character. still, I'm yet to read the sunlit man and we know how much I've forgotten regardless so maybe I've been shaped by fandom perception a little too much.

dunny :( I've not got to the bit where he dies yet but I remember his being the bridgeman death that hurt the most in twok so every time he shows up I get a fun burst of sadness. also for some reason I thought it was hobber who originally almost died, not leyten, but maybe I'm right and just haven't gotten to that part yet lol.

just remembered that lopen exists too. looking forward to him showing up.

I love her so much, it's cool in retrospect to see what spren lose and how they slowly regain their sentience while moving into the physical realm to form a bond. seeing her confused about understanding abstract concepts is great. I was listening to the wind and truth predictions shardcast the other day and someone came up with a theory that the way windrunners are recruited might be turned on its head in era 2. in retrospect that would be super cool to see.

speaking of, that episode of shardcast also convinced me that syladin is a possibility, which ruined my day.

unrelatedly: navani is such a badass, that text post that's going around that's like 'navani really showed up at the shattered plains and immediately told dalinar that her son is a loser' is so so real lol. I don't think I originally liked her in twok bc I didn't understand her... purpose, I guess? this time around I'm like 😍😍 mine scientist lady beloved.

also, could the stormfather really not think of a better way to investigate a possible bond than random prophetic visions? though the one we see onscreen first with the weird midnight creatures is very cool in retrospective.

regarding flashbacks: I'm not super invested in kaladin's past, once you've read it once it's not difficult to remember what happens so I'm pretty much just skimming. but I think rereading it a few years older makes it a lot easier to understand that lirin is a far more complex character than I originally thought, esp regarding row. obviously he's got kaladin's best interests in mind, but I feel like his moral reasoning is a lot clearer on reread. I don't think hes a great person, but i dont think hes necessarily more flawed than a lot of other main characters. I don't exactly remember what happens in row but I remember he gets... worse. I'm interested to see how my opinion changes.

and finally on a meta note: I know the first arc is supposed to thematically parallel a ketek, which I remember being able to spot elements of between wor and row. I'm super curious to see if I can spot anything in twok which might be paralleled in wind and truth. I do think I thought of smth regarding syl earlier but I forgot what it was 🫠-- maybe something go do with the recreance questions we're hoping to get answered?

this one is based off that one tweet that says "some people really need a hug, a forehead kiss and a grilled cheese cut diagonally" and it really reminded me of Salesman Barry for some reason so here he is in a hugged, kissed and grilled-cheese-cut-diagonally-enjoying state :) (also that is a little love-heart shaped kiss mark on his forehead but it looks odd because of the angle i was drawing at lol. i should fix it maybe)

i did a couple of doodles of my hc Craig design too and updated his hair a bit to be more defined and less messy :D it kinds looks like some vaguely apple-shaped hairstyle now which i find oddly appealing. someone in the HB discord said that one of the scientists in the new 4th of July JJ2 art looked like Craig wearing a hawaiian shirt so behold.... a man

here's a character i haven't drawn in literal years before now! good ol Dan Mandel from Dan Vs. :D i've always known about this show in passing for years from watching those old Fluffle Puff animations, but i never really properly got into it until it suddenly got a resurgence in popularity around 2021, and i, to this day, still think it is so funny how this show managed to air alongside My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop. this man almost said whore out loud in one of the episodes and it got through the censors. not even kidding it's from the wedding episode it's so funny. he's such a grimy little man <3

it's a fair question! i might elaborate more someday but atm the basic premise is that it's likely it'd be like a pragmatic deal between them? sasuke needs a source of strength and obito is both very powerful and a sharingan user, and obito has reason to look out for sasuke because of itachi hovering over his shoulder + if he trains sasuke correctly he can have a powerful ally on his side... which is i think?? the reason why obito let sasuke hang out with him for so long in canon but it went nowhere looooool

i find orochimaru's integration and then sudden exit from the plot to be a little bit messy so i like to think of ways of streamlining the process and just having sasuke be with the "main" naruto antagonists from an earlier date :0c with the rest of the kids still being with him as i am very fond of both karin and suigetsu ahahaha

i also find the idea of sasuke being in closer proximity to itachi during the timeskip (while still distant ofc) to be fun, like him being akatsuki-adjacent while itachi is also there brings fun scenarios to think about! + the fact itachi really doesn't like obito, so there's an added layer of 👀 as he hates that obito is the one training him but he can't really do anything abt it without showing his hand lol

and, the rest of the akatsuki interacting with a bunch of kids on a "friendly" level is a funny concept lmao

AITA for telling my girlfriend that she's stupid for liking an objectively TERRIBLE film?

I (20M) and my girlfriend (20F) do a lot of “movie nights” together since I'm pretty big on film. We usually agree on what movie to watch, but we have pretty different tastes. I usually choose the movie, but as long as she doesn't choose something TOO unbearable I let her choose the movie (Her taste in cinema is below average.)

Earlier today, she reminded me that we haven't done a movie night in a while (probably because last time we argued for several days if skinimarink or texas chainsaw massacre was better like tcm isn't LITERAL torture porn). I agreed, and asked her if she wanted to watch anything in particular. (This is more of a pleasantry. He usually never suggests anything specific when I ask this.) Surprisingly, she said that she did have a movie in mind! Unfortunately, that movie was Avatar (2009). The one with the blue people.

After she said this to me, I laughed at her, because no one actually LIKES that movie. The best anyone can say is that it’s visually appealing! The plot is drawn out, bland, and not worth nearly three hours of my time. And that's just ignoring the colonialist themes and military propaganda (AN: both of my OCs here are in the military)! I asked her if he was serious about wanting to watch it, because I never took her for the type to enjoy something so dull. (She's a fan of big dumb action movies where you just turn your brain off, like Marvel or Star Wars.)

She said that she'd watched it a few times with her friends in high school and that she’d really liked it… and not just for the visual aspect? She said that she wanted to watch it with me too. She continued to justify it by bringing up the fact that I like other sci-fi movies and shows, and that he didn’t see how this was any different from those. Y'know, ones where there's actual ART and SKILL involved?

I told her that not only was Avatar unartistic, but how there was no reason for it to be so LONG. She starting whining and brought up when we'd watched Oppenheimer (she fell asleep because there just wasn't enough people fighting and quipping for her!) and the Lord of the Rings Extended Editions. Of course, those movies are actually GOOD, and when I pointed this out she just started arguing with me about what a "good" movie is and how I never let her pick any of the movies. I called her stupid for not recognizing how awful Avatar is and not recognizing taste when she sees it, and she got really mad at me.

I don’t think I’m wrong for telling her that Avatar sucks, considering it’s common knowledge, but calling her stupid might’ve crossed the line. Though I don't see how, considering how she calls herself stupid and all her friends call her stupid? Her being stupid is just a fact, she's a big dumb brute who everyone likes for some reason.

I don’t think I’m the asshole, but if I am, I’m definitely justified. Only reason I'm asking is because now all of her PSYCHO friends are threatening to beat me up. So, AITA for telling my girlfriend that she’s stupid for liking an objectively TERRIBLE film?

imagine if you'd mixed a soulmate AU into WMLP. Who would be soulmates? What kind of soulmate au would fuck with the characters the most?

oh boyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. soulmate AUs are so fun to mess with, because you can change the parameters for what a soul mate is. like are they destined lovers? are they the perfect pair? or are they simply two people who are always going to meet, be drawn together, are cursed to share their stories, regardless of feelings?

what I'm saying is: WMLP with Dick and Slade as soul mates.

oh my god that would fuck Dick up SO BAD.

especially if he didn't find out until Slade was running a sword through his chest. and it would make his struggle to fight back against Slade's manipulation so much harder. His complicated feelings as he mourns Slade and yet despises him? dialed up to the max. it's so juicy.

Additionally: When Bee forces M'Gaan's mind open, it overwrites her own soulmate and essentially makes Bee her soulmate in M'Gaan's mind. like any association with her real soul mate is wiped away and redirected to Bee, so even though they're not soul mates her brain still reacts to Bee that way.

you know there was a short while when I started writing this fic when I considered doing aquabird (Dick and Kal) instead of birdflash. purely because when I started writing this fic is when I fell into aquabird shipping lmao. it would be interesting if they were soul mates in this fic, though, as the leader of the team and the assumed future leader of the team. like a captain and right hand man. Kaldur's horror and grief would be so much worse, hearing Dick was killed under his leadership, if they were soul mates. i mean that can be said of the entire team, but especially if it were Dick. Dick is the youngest, so Kaldur probably wouldn't pursue anything romantically (at least not until they're both older) so he'd have to live with the fact that he never got to have a relationship with his soul mate. then on top of that, his failure leads to one of the best child heroes, assumed to be a future leader, to fall into a new role as an assassin. Kaldur would feel responsible for ruining his potential.

There is, of course, the other possibility: one of the manta soldiers being Kaldur's soul mate. I have had some thoughts on Kaldur's relationships with the soldiers and whether any of them go beyond friendship (I actually started touching on it in the chapter I'm currently writing lmao) so imagining the added piece of them as a soul mate? delicious. held captive by them, the power dynamics, the inherent toxicity? nom nom. the fact they'd have to hide it from everyone? so good. and the soldier wouldn't be able to do anything without looking like they're trying to sleep their way to the top. and Kaldur can't do anything without the possibility of incurring his father's wrath upon an innocent soldier.

oh also if it was Zatanna, with what Kaldur has done to her... that's also a thought. both of them being the magic users of the team gives them a fun duality, and they both have daddy issues.

Conner and M'Gaan being soul mates would work i guess. I'm meh about it because I'm meh about them as a couple. the show really just... meh. and after season two it's like BRUH Conner LEAVE HER. but anyway. in this fic it would have that tragic lovers thing of being torn apart, watching your lover slowly degrade and knowing you can do nothing about it. meanwhile they watch as you are unchanged, and they hate you for it. mmmmmm. yeah. that'd make them interesting to me.

other than that, there is the possibility of Conner not having a soul mate, because he's a clone. or him having a pre-programmed soul mate which is whoever Clark's and Lex's soul mates are, which is disturbing and the worst and I should really write a fic of that. or someone should because the potential for all kinds of horrible nonsense is very compelling.

I haven't considered any kind of romantic subplot for Artemis to be honest. I mean, canon wise she only really has Wally. other than that there's the comics, where she was with icicle junior. i mean the joy of finding your soul mate, being with him for such a short time, and then the grief of losing him so soon would be interesting, I suppose, but no mor interesting than it already is for the two of them to have been together as normal. Artemis forcing herself to move on and falling out of love with Wally only for him to come back would be heartbreaking for her, especially if she couldn't find it in herself to regrow those old feelings and try again with everything going on in her life. especially because Wally probably wouldn't have had a chance to fall out of love while in the speed force. it is a bit depressing, but not very compelling to me.

I guess there's Roy. she could have some kind of strange platonic sibling-esque soul mate bond with him. it would have made her joining the team, so much more difficult, and then being forced on an opposite side to him only to chose to stay against him once free because your friends are more important. and then for her to hear Dick kicked him off a roof and almost killed him and see Dick be so blasé about it would be an interesting spin on things. but it's not interesting enough that, given the scenario of rewriting the fic with soul mates, I would add it in.

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

Miiiight be Gabrielle from Xena. I wouldn't say best, there are some writing hiccups for sure, but I really love her arc from wannabe swordswoman to bard with a stick to pacifist to badass warrior but torn about it. It's very satisfying to me.

U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.

Ray Vecchio from Due South - I loooooove his extreme loyalty to Fraser, complaining all the while. Dude took an explosion for him and then crawled from his hospital bed to a shack in Canada whlie still wearing a neckbrace IN THE PILOT, and never shuts up about Fraser ruining his suits. I love his verbosity, the way he prioritizes people he loves before abstract philosophical concepts like duty and clashes with Fraser, I adore that he's haunted by his dad as well, love his family and relationships with them, and I will always love his complaining. I latched onto him hard back in my Due South phase and he's still my all time fave, and most of that has no reason, it's mostly to do with the age I watched the show.

Xena from Xena: Warrior Princess: She's a power fantasy that never disappoints. I search high and low for a successor and haven't found one. She was a ruthless legitimately evil warlord who was powerful enough to take over the known world in a canonical alternate reality, and that tracks. The action scenes aren't about wondering whether Xena's going to win a fight against 20 guards or some warlord or some god, it's about wondering exactly how fun it's gonna be to watch her kick their ass. She doesn't ever come up against a power too strong for her to go mano e mano with, she uses her wits a lot, but only when a fight won't solve the problem - and usually to maneuver things along so a fight will solve the problem. There was an episode where she was temporarily blinded and she was still never in physical danger lmao. Ares, the god of war, is, and I quote, "barely a match for her as a god," and when he's a human she usually needs to save his damseled ass. She only ever even exerts herself in fights against gods or occasionally other warrior women.

All that and she's hot and bi and in love with a hot blonde warrior bard.

Hawkeye from Mash - I'll be real here, he's a shoe in for fave. First, I'm a sucker for fun, confident bottoms, which is so close to canon for him that fandom usually doesn't even disappoint here (which is pretty rare lol). I never get sick of his reel of gay jokes, l've written essays about his gender expression and how it reflects on the politics of the show but it's also just incredibly fun to watch. And in addition to the fun stuff, he's also so wonderfully compassionate, thoughtful and politically aware, engaged with the horrors of the setting in a very satisfying way, emotionally expressive with some amazing dialogue and great jokes, and generally just a very well-drawn character excellently brought to life over eleven years.

Feyre was terrified of Rhys when she first met him.

Nesta made Cassian feel like he was worthless when she first met him, snorting and looking away as if he was nothing then told him on multiple occasions to leave her the hell alone.

So yes, Elain is uncomfortable but there are many possible reasons that could be causing that besides the "she has no interest in him and will never have interest in him" argument.

I am the absolute worst around people I'm really attracted to. Like, "can't make eye contact and have no idea what to say" awkward and uncomfortable.

Elain might not want a mate or a male because she's trying to convince herself it's the truth all the while being frustrated that she's extremely drawn to Lucien.

Elain's "newfound boldness" might disappear around Lucien because he can see right through that "newfound boldness" to realize she's fooling herself and those around her, that she's not as happy and fine in the NC as she's putting out there.

Everyone expects Elain to make friends and be optimistic because that's who she's always been but what happens when if it's not working? She wouldn't want to let others down when they have certain expectations of her so she's showing them what they want to see. Maybe she's trying to fake it until she makes it herself.

But a mate KNOWS things and can most likely sense that she's full of shit. That would make me lose my "newfound boldness" too. Knowing someone has a front row seat to my soul and they can see act I'm putting on.

Until we are at the end of Elain's book (considering Nesta STILL couldn't admit her feelings for Cassian until 3/4 of the way through), no one can say for certain that Elain's reaction to Lucien isn't a result of the intense emotions and pull she has to him, that it's something she's fighting having to admit because it's scary.

Like you said, why string the poor man along for nearly two years if she's really not interested? Why keep accepting his gifts? Why not beg Feyre to not invite him to Solstice? And why haven't Az or Elain made any plans on what they'll say to Lucien if they do in fact have feelings for one another? If Elain has no interest in him then why is Rhys telling Az to back off? Why does Nesta call her a wretch for not sitting near him? Why does Cassian feel bad for the longing on Lucien's face? Why did Feyre tell Elain to get to know Lucien? Why did Feyre encourage Lucien to spend more time with Elain? Considering these are Az's people, why are they all on board the Elucien train?

Elain and Az not ending up together is a blip in their journey's. They had a year where they tossed around the idea of something (all the while Az was also tossing around the idea of wishing Mor wanted him). But they can move on and it really doesn't affect anyone to any real degree, not even themselves. If Az can get over his 500 + year old love for Mor within the span of a book then getting over a 1 year long crush should take him 1/500th of that time.

Elain and Lucien not ending up together impacts their entire lives. It impacts the lives of whoever they end up with (that person always knowing that their SO has a unique bond with someone else, a super special connection that only mates share). It's not something, as Rhys tells us, that will ever completely go away.
