Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 46 (Home to Henford)

Everett and Spencer Pancakes had worked hard on their marriage, but they still struggled in Oasis Springs so far from their families.

Then one day, Everett's phone rang. His hometown parish - the 400-year-old church in Henford-on-Bagley where he'd grown up listening to the scripture of the Watcher - needed a new priest. Though their sons were young for such a big move, they jumped at the chance for Greyson and Jett to grow up in their childhood paradise.

They moved in with Spencer's parents, Eric and Alice, at her childhood home in Old New Henford. With Lydia now in Brindleton Bay with the Goths, Spencer's parents had plenty of room for Everett, Spencer, Greyson, and baby Jett - and their dog, JJ, too!

Their first day back, Everett's twin sister, Malia, dropped by to visit and share some happy news. "Jamar and I are expecting!"

Everett knew his sister and her husband, Henford's young, successful doctor, Jamar Scott, had been trying for over a year. "That's fantastic!" Everett beamed, and Malia practiced holding infants by spending the rest of the afternoon entertaining baby Jett.

Spencer's work was primarily in Selvadorada and the only thing that kept her in Oasis Springs was the sun and Everett's old job, but being back with her family again meant everything to her. Not just having her parents, but her older sister Olivia lived with her own family just up the road on Old Mill Hill. Olivia's youngest was close in age to Greyson, and Spencer wanted their families near as they raised their own sons.

"I never realized how much I needed you until we unpacked our bags," Spencer admitted to her mother in the family room, while Jett snuggled with his grandpa Eric on the sofa. "Hopefully now that I'm home I can stop second-guessing everything I do as a mom."

Alice looked at her daughter with a generous smile. "You didn't need to come all the way home for us to know you're a good mother. Your boys love you, and we love them almost as much as I know you do."

Spencer dearly loved her sons, but she worried her ambition was too obvious. That maybe her sons knew she itched to fly to Selvadorada and immerse herself in her work, thousands of miles away from them. The way her sons and her job competed for her time left her overflowing with guilt, but now that she was home, she was more hopeful about the future than she'd been in years.

Everett's grandmothers, Agatha and Agnes Crumpcakes, were getting older. He was glad to be closer to help his father and stepmother take care of them. He felt a responsibility to his family as the eldest of his siblings, even if he was only five minutes older than Malia.

She was going to have a baby, Kash lived in Brindleton Bay with his husband, Wolfgang (Munch!), and Elizabeth was still in high school. Leaving his church and parishioners in Oasis Springs had been difficult, but being home with his family, and at the pulpit of his hometown church, felt like the choice he should have made when he and Spencer married five years earlier.

Everywhere they went they saw familiar faces, and their return began to heal Everett and Spencer's marriage even further.

They were home again, just in time for their dear friend Heather to bring Conrad to Henford to meet her loved ones... ->

NOTE: The baby is Jett, Heather and Everett's biological child that she delivered as a surrogate. So far he looks like Heather. He even had her hair colour, but I darkened it because I'm already sick of it repeatedly showing up in Neal's descendants.

NOTE 2: Three days without Conrad and today without Heather, I know that's bold strategy, but I wanted this post to stand alone because a) I had to set up why they left the desert before Heather visits, and doing it in the same post was a little too verbose, even for me, b) that gorgeous church build needed to get some featured screen time, and c) we haven't seen Jett since he was born and the pic with his Aunt Malia above is the clearest one I have of him as an infant. Heather and Conrad (and Ash!) are all back tomorrow!

WCIF Henford's Church: Escombe Church in the Sims 4 Gallery by @simstruhistory/TeaWithTash (beautiful build, cc-free, and there's more historical content at their page!) This is a historical recreation of the real Escombe Church in England and I think it's got a perfect Henford vibe. It doesn't actually fit in Henford in my main save but I want to use it again to stage some funerals in the future and maybe weddings, too. I've referenced the 400-year-old church in Henford a couple times but never showed it because it didn't exist (*whispers*I didn't wanna build it) until I saw this one showcased here on simblr!

I'm so, so grateful to creators with build skills, mod skills, CAS skills, all skills, saving me time to do the Sim stuff I really enjoy. 🤗

(Also I'm not a spiritual person, but I have Lumpinou's Rambunctious Religions mod installed because I was playing Ultimate Decades for a while, and just because I'm not religious doesn't mean some of my sims can't be!)

The Purrfect Cup Cat Cafe | Cat Cafe

Located at the heart of the Whiskerman’s Wharf, The Purrfect Cup is the latest redevelopment of Brindleton Bay. Inherited after her grandmother passed away, owner Nina Simmons needed to save funds to fix the cafe and beat the giant corporations awaiting to buy the coveted property spot. Luckily with some creative thinking, the help of some furry friends, and some fundraisers, the Purrfect Cafe has become home to the best coffee in town and the sweetest cuddles from the adoptable felines.

Hi, it's been a while! If you haven't seen my latest update (and if you have the time) check here. This is the first build I am releasing after a long time away from the game and I'm excited to share it with you. It's very much inspired by the Nantucket region. It was also inspired by and meant to complement the wonderful 'Whiskerman’s Seafood' build by @simkhira's , so please go support and download their build (if you haven't already). I hope you enjoy it and I can't wait to see your Sims stories.

Photoshop Tutorial #1 - Change Background & Add Reflections

I was inspired to make this tutorial after facing a dilemma in my game. I wanted my sims to swim in Brindleton Bay, but, shock horror, the water there is not swimmable. Luckily, I know how to change the background of my screenshots to make it appear as though it is - and I'm going to bring you through the process of how!

Starting off, in game, I brought my sims to Tartosa and got my desired shot. Then, heading over to Brindleton Bay, I got some shots of the horizon that I wanted as a backdrop.

Here's a picture I took:

Okay! Let's open up Photoshop!

For reference, I have Photoshop 2024, but most if not all of the features I've used should be included in older versions too.

Here's our image! Now I'm selecting the Background layer in the layers panel and press CTRL J twice to create two duplicates.

I'll turn off the bottom two layers for now, (by clicking the eye button, for newbies) and go to the properties panel. this should be on the right hand side, above the layers panel, but if it isn't, simply go into window > properties to switch it on.

With the layer selected, I click remove background and voila! Photoshop has... er... done her best to remove the background (she sometimes gets it wrong, but at least it's a help)

You'll see that a layer mask has been created. (circled in image).

If you haven't used layer masks before, the only important thing to know is that black will erase and white will add.

So with my brush tool (shortcut B) selected and set to black, I can go around the image and erase all of the parts I don't want.

If you have a steady hand and a tablet/cintiq you can do the same job a little quicker with the lasso tool (shortcut L) by selecting any unwanted area and simply pressing delete

Once I've removed all that needs to be removed, I see that there's a little slice of her hair that needs to be added. I can change the brush colour to white and paint it in.

Done! Easy!

Okay, let's switch off this layer for now, and switch on the one beneath it.

This is the layer I want to make look like the Brindleton Bay sea. So I'll make sure to pull an image of the water up as reference for colour.

This time I'm going to create a layer mask using the polygonal lasso tool

It's easy.

Find the lasso tool in the tool panel on the left of screen (the third icon from the top - or by pressing L on your keyboard)

Left click & hold, and a menu will pop up. Select the polygonal lasso tool.

Click around the area you'd like to mask, in my case, the sea. Tip: if you hold down the shift key while clicking, you will be able to create perfectly straight lines.

Click on the layer mask button at the bottom of the layers panel (pictured)

Everything except the selected area should disappear!

A small thing here, but I don't want the reflection of the rock in the water in my picture. I'll select the layer (not mask), take the eyedropper tool (shortcut i) with the sample set to all layers, and use a soft brush (B) to paint it away.

Next I'm using adjustment layers to edit the colour of the water, to try and make the blue turquoise paradise look more like the horrible green bog water of the bay.

You'll find these next to the mask button in the layers panel.

For my picture, I'm using hue/saturation for the colour and levels for the light. you can fiddle around with any of the adjustment layers to find what works for you.

I've shown the adjustments I've made for my specific scene below, just for reference.

When I'm happy with the colours/lighting, I select all adjustment layers (shift + L click to select multiple), then right click and choose create clipping mask. This is to ensure that the adj layers don't affect any other parts of the image, just the area I want it to.

And there! My water is looking sludgy, just like I wanted.

Okay! I've decided that I'd like some texture in the water. It always annoys me that sims water looks so flat. So here's where Pinterest enters the story.

I like Pinterest because unlike Google, the majority of the images are not watermarked. You're also slightly less likely to find AI slop.

I wanted some water ripples, so I searched for something like Water Texture, found one I liked, and dragged and dropped it into my photoshop file.

From here, I transformed it (CTRL + T) by resizing & rotating the bounding box, then grabbing the corners while holding CTRL to create some kind of perspective that works for the image.

I didn't bother bringing it all the way to the horizon, because I intend to fade that out with a gradient anyway. I had to sacrifice the bottom of the image for the sake of correct perspective, but that's fine. I will crop that out later.

With the texture layer selected, set the blending mode to soft light. It blends nicely!

Now! Another layer mask! These are our friends

With the texture layer still selected, I create a layer mask.

This time, because I had nothing in the image selected first, the layer mask will appear white. That just means nothing has been masked yet.

With it selected, I find the gradient tool (shortcut G) if you press G and the paint bucket tool is activated, simply navigate to the tool panel on the left of the file, hold the paint bucket tool down and select gradient.

I'll change the colour to black, and make sure I have the foreground to transparent gradient selected.

Other settings are pictured.

I'll drag the gradient over the area I want to mask. In this case, the top of the water texture to make it appear as though it's fading away towards the horizon.

(Doubly make sure you've selected the mask, not the layer while performing this action.)

Looking good!

Time to drag the layer above your adjustment layers and create a clipping mask again.

Alright! Let's do the background.

I'll drag that image of Brindleton Bay that I took earlier into the file.

I want to place it below my sea layer, and above that original background layer (I am going to leave that untouched for insurance reasons)

Then, using the move tool (shortcut V) I'm simply going to move it to the correct place. Basically I just want the horizon lines to match up.

Tip: hold the shift key to drag an image in a straight line.

Enter to confirm.

You can see that the sky is now unfinished, but it's such an easy fix. I'll just select the sky colour with the eyedropper tool, then use the paint bucket tool & brush tool to fill in the sky.

Done!

Now - note that the sea doesn't quite blend in with the background. To fix this, I'm going to take my eyedropper tool (shortcut i) and select some of that dark green colour beneath the mountains.

I will create a layer (+ button on the base of the layer panel) and drag it above that sea texture layer I created earlier.

Then I'll create a layer mask to clip it to the sea.

I'm grabbing that gradient tool again (G) and creating a nice gradient on the horizon.

The horizon line is a little sharp, in my opinion, I want it more faded. So, using a soft brush (B) and that same green colour, I'm going to create a new layer & place it above that green gradient, this time I'm not clipping it.

Holding down the shift key, I'm going to draw a straight line right across the horizon. This helps to blend it all together a bit better.

Now! for Reflections!

Firstly, I'm going back to that sky layer with the Brindleton Bay mountains, and I'm going to duplicated by pressing CTRL + J

I'm dragging it above the sea layer, but below all of the other clipping masks. This will automatically create a clipping mask for the new layer.

Next, I'm going to edit > transform > flip vertical

With the move tool (V) I'm moving the image upwards so that the horizon lines meet and it looks like the lighthouse and mountains are reflecting in the sea.

Note: make sure auto select is off while using the move tool on a layer that lies beneath several others.

This leaves a little bit of a mess on the bottom on the canvas, which can be fixed by creating a layer mask & the gradient tool set to black, and dragging a gradient over the bottom of the image until it blends nicely into the sea.

With the mountains reflection done, I'm going to move onto the people.

I'll turn that top layer that I worked on earlier back on.

Then I'll duplicate it (CTRL + J)

Right click on the layer mask of the duplicate and select Apply Layer Mask from the dropdown. This simply bakes the layer mask into the image. Usually I try to edit non-destructively as much as possible, but in this case it's fine to destroy.

I'm going to rename this layer Reflection

With that new, reflection layer selected, I'll go to Edit > Transform > Flip Vertical, just like before.

I want to add a little water/shimmer effect to their faces, so I'm going to Filter > Distort > ZigZag

I'll just mess around with the settings here until I find something I like.

This is optional, obviously, I've done reflections in edits without doing any of this, but it just adds something a little extra to water scenes, I think.

Here's a time I didn't do that.

anyway, my sims are looking a bit crazy now, but it's fine, because I'm going to, you guessed it, add a layer mask and gradient.

But first, using the lasso tool (L) I'm going to draw around one of the characters and drag her into place. I can move the bounding box around a bit to make her shoulders meet in the right place.

Then I'll do the same for the other character.

Tip: Hold CTRL while moving, warping or resizing something for a smoother, more precise experience.

Now, I'm doing what I said I would, and I'm creating that layer mask. We know how to do it by now, right?

Make sure everything is deselected first by pressing CTRL + D

Create layer mask

Select Gradient (G) set to black

Drag gradient over bottom of reflection (If you ever need more precise gradients, you can select the round gradient at the top of the file. I needed it to blend the reflection on the right more, because the characters are not at an even height.)

In the Layer panel, change opacity to 20% (or whatever you like) and hit Enter to confirm

Using Crop (shortcut C) I'm going to crop my image, cut off that pesky strip at the bottom and just basically make the framing of the picture a little bit nicer.

And viola!

I could edit this image more, throw in bounced light, splashes etc etc but I'll leave it like this.

The only thing I will add in is a little lens flare to indicate sun, so again, I'm taking to Pinterest and searching for one that works.

Tip: make sure the background of a lens flare image is completely black. Otherwise it will be harder to use.

Below is the one I have chosen.

I'm simply changing the blending mode to screen, moving it and resizing it with the transform tool (T), and fiddling with the opacity until I'm happy.

That's it!

I made a video running through this whole process, with all of my shortcuts in the bottom right hand corner so that you can see exactly what is happening.

What I've been working on...

Hello angels! A while ago I was inspired to create a new save file for myself and build (almost) everything from scratch. I've never considered myself a builder, but with the help of Pinterest I'm finally ready to start sharing what I've been up to! Brindleton Bay is my favorite world, so I started there first. (It's also where my main sims live, and I'm so excited to play here!) This is a WIP that currently functions as a retail lot. I haven't decided if I want to make the second building a different retail lot, or give it dual functionality as a retail store/cafe. If you have any input, feel free to drop a comment!

The Solar System Legacy Challenge: Vet Visit Gen 1 pt.53

The Gratz had returned to Brindleton Bay and this week they had plenty to focus on. The triplets and Zohreh had back to back birthdays and they were going over to get to know the Walter’s .

They were new to the neighborhood and had moved in while the Gratz had been in Tomarang. Mercury had met Kiersten the day they returned. Kason had pointed out the moving boxes. She'd noticed a crib and toys meaning they likely had kids. Later that day they'd gone over to introduce themselves. Only Kiersten was home at the time, her husband Rufus, who had apparently landed a job at Kason's engineering company as some kind of computer tech, had taken their 2 children out on a store run. M, always the people person, liked Kiersten almost instantly. She was kind, loved books and was family orientated, so before heading home they'd made plans to have lunch.

Kason returned from work to find M and Zohreh out front.

Kason: Pose gorgeous, I'm gonna sell this one to the papparazzi.

He joked as he snapped her picture on his phone.

M: Hey babe. Good day at work?

Kason: Yeah, kind of a quite day. Worked on upgrading some of the servos nothing interesting.

M: I'm looking for Comet he's been scratching all day. I called the vet and made an appointment.

Kason: I'll take him don't worry.

Kason arrives at the Brindleton Pawspital. He gets Comet checked in, finds a place to get out of his uniform and waits for the Vet to call them in.

Madison, Paris's best friend was also at the clinic with her cat Pumpkin and had called Paris to keep her company. Kason hadn't noticed Paris come in.

Madison: See anything interesting in the cafe.

Paris: Nothing I won't have to spike myself.

Madison: It's a cafe at the vets office what did you expect.

Paris: Remind me why your mother got you that cat again.

Madison sighs but doesnt answer the question, instead she redirects.

Madison: Isnt that Kason?

Paris: Yeah. I saw when he came in. Haven't seen him much lately.

Madison: I assume its because he hates you.

Paris: Haha, funny. You should go over and say hi.

Madison looks at Paris skeptically.

Madison: Why would I do that?

Paris: Because he's a nice guy.

Madsion scuffs and whispers.

Madison: Yeah with a wife who told you to stay away from him. In fact he told you to stay away from him.

Paris: Which is whyyy, your going to go say hello. He avoids me like the plague.

Madison: Thats a sign Paris.

Paris: Oh come on. I just want to see what happens okay.

Madison rolls her eyes but gives in to Paris's childish request.

Paris: I'll just wait outside.

Once Paris makes herself scarce, Madison turns around and waves to Kason when they make eye contact.

Madison: Hi, I saw your dog when you came in he's a cockapoo right?

Kason smiles politely.

Kason: Yeah.

Madison came around to pet Comet

Madison: Aren't you just the cutest little guy. Whats his name?

Kason: Comet. Becareful he's an attention hog, plus we’re not sure what he's in for just yet.

Madison takes a seat beside him.

Madison: I'm Madison and we?

Kason: Kason, nice to meet you. And yeah my wife she made the appointment for comet to see the vet.

Madison: Oh, is she here?

Kason: No she's at home. Mercury Medley Gratz the writter you may have heard of her.

Madison: Your wife is Mercury Medley!? She writes the most amazing fantasy novels. I own her entire “Jounal of a Werewolf” collection.

Kason: I'll tell her that. She'll be glad to hear.

Madison: Please do... I'm sorry for her lost. I heard she lost her father recently. I can't imagine how hard that must have been, she's always thanked her father for her success in all her writting, they must have been close.

Kason: Thank you Madison. We appreciate your kind words and your support.

Kason found it easy to talk to Madison. He also couldn't deny she was fairly attractive. It wasn't a crime to appreciate beauty but he was slightly embarrassed to find himself checking her out. He knew it meant nothing, she was no M. Mercury's dark hair and curvy figure had captivated him but her beautiful mind and compassionate spirit had enamored him. Madison was a pretty face and a body, M was his soulmate. Besides, Kason had accepted his Faithful trait since he became a YA. He wouldn't ruin everything for something so trivial. He averted his eyes and continued their chat with his eyes kept at a respectful level.

They talked about Mercury's newest books and Madison explained why her cat Pumpkin was there. Neither of them noticed Paris slip back in and start snapping photos of the pair.

Vet Tech: Pumpkin and Madison. You can come in now.

Madison: It was nice to meet you and please if you convince her to do a signing or a meet and greet please email me. Have a good night Kason.

Madison heads in the back with her cat and Paris finally makes her presence known to Kason.

Paris: Hey Kay, How's it going?

Kason: What can I do for you Paris?

He asked with feigned politeness.

Paris: I just wanted to say hello but I saw you were busy. The girl, she was really pretty but she definitely wasn't your wife.

she says with a hint of accusation.

He quickly drops the act not wanting to play her game today.

Kason: It's none of your business who I talk to. But since you asked She a fan of literature something you probably know little about. Particularly a fan of Mercury's.

Paris: Rude. So if I liked your wife's fiction stories then you'd like me.

Kason: I don't like you because you’re a rude brat who throws tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants. You don't know how to behave like an adult and you don't know when to quit. I'll tell you again Paris leave me and my wife alone.

Vet Tech: Comet and Kason. You can head in now.

Kason follows the Vet Tech without another word to Paris

Veterinarian: Mr.Gratz Comet looks good. He just has a patch of dry skin. We gave him a preventative shot and we'll send you home with some special dog shampoo and he should be just fine.

Kason: Thank you, his mom will be glad to know its just dandruff. Lets get home buddy.

Rosa's Life

Dear Diary,

My life has been so wonderful in Brindleton Bay, I love it here!! Grandmother's house is amazing, the weather is fantastic, and I have such a great garden going. I haven't met too many people yet so I have been filling my days with gardening, my job as a florist, and I took up knitting, which I love!

Oh and I forgot! I got three chickens! I am in love with Tomato, Eggplant, and Squash. They are so cute and I rarely feel lonely with them around. Everyday after I feed and cuddle them, I take a nice, long walk, which I am really loving!

Only lately I feel as if I am being followed. It started once in a while, but now it feels as if everyday when I go for a walk, someone is following me. I'm sure it's nothing.....but I can't help but be on extra alert. Write more soon...!

Sanovia and Salim haven't been back to Brindleton Bay since their engagement. The couple decided to visit their favorite restaurant. Unfortunately paparazzi got a tip that they would be there. The restaurant was flooded with fans and paparazzi, which wasn't the private night Salim expected. Sanovia didn't mind all the attention while Salim was very annoyed.

We've spent a very happy Christmas season in Brindleton Bay, visiting my family. Antonio had to go back a day early for work (he's educating on the dangers of toys that are inappropriate for your child's gender, after all the gifts from family members over Christmas), so me and Gabriele spent our last day at my sister Moriah's house. Moriah is such a great example of Godly femininity -- she's just welcomed her ninth and tenth babies! Her Biblical parenting really shines through her children, they are all so beautifully behaved! She has two little boys who are about the same age as Gabriele, so it was so fun for him to play with his cousins while we caught up. It was extra nice for me as Jessica, my best friend all throughout my teenage years, is Moriah's husband's sister, and she lives with them, so I got to catch up with her too! She was my maid of honour at my wedding, but I haven't seen her in person since then, so it's been 7 years! Overall, it was such a nice way to finish our Christmas vacation.

Are you looking to play around with aspects of the sims 4 game that you haven't used before? Is the sims starting to bore you? Or maybe you have just started playing and are looking for a way to start your first family?

Welcome to the Crystal Legacy Challenge! A sims 4 challenge that any simmer will enjoy.

Each legacy will be assigned a crystal that is found in game, it will be fun to try match the generations clothes , hair , ect to the colour of the assigned crystal but not compulsory.

You could also try collect that crystal in game, but again this is not compulsory!

I also love giving subtle hints to the colour through their name

eg. Red gen = Sienna, Rosie, Scarlett

I will try to make a base game version but NOT promising anything. If this challenge gets popular I will but if not then I probably won't.

This challenge doesn't use every pack since I don't have every pack, but it does use a few!

Basic rules:

I haven't talked about this much on here, but I started a new stable! I'll only be posting it once a day over here (at least for now) but the stable will be more active on the @equilibertysims discord! Find our scrapbook here. Enjoy!

Welcome to Fox Hill!

Fox Hill was established in 1892 and has been owned by the Notting family ever since. We are located in Brindleton Bay and produce high-competing racing thoroughbreds. One of the most renowned racing stables in the world, Fox Hill is the largest competitor at the nearby, and also well-known racetrack, Hound's Head Raceway.

Hound's Head Raceway is one of the largest casinos, country club, and horse track in the country. While it is most known for it's annual gala and race, "The Hound's Cup" along with the annual debutante ball, it often hosts other prestigious races.

Meet the Nottings

Anyone in Brindleton Bay (or anyone with a lick of knowledge on horse racing) will tell you the Nottings are the epitome of high-class society. Julian and Marilyn ran the family business for years, and have now passed it down the Notting heir, Kennedy.

Now that she's in charge of Fox Hill Stables, Kennedy plans to add a new breeding program to the stables, furthering the quality of their horses. At 22 she's recently moved away from home (even if just down the street) and is ready to step away from the life of constant butlers and servants to gain experience in the business world. However, now that Daddy's little girl and the light of her parents' life has left, Sebastion is now getting all of their attention. Much to his dismay.

Their parents had never paid much mind to Sebastion. I mean with running a successful stable, fawning over your daughter, presenting her to high society, training her to be her best (and most acceptable) self, who would have the time? Certainly not them! That's why nannies exist. But now Julian is expecting him to follow in his footsteps, become a successful businessman, and start his own empire. All Sebastion seems to want to do is party! What kind of teenager does that? Kennedy certainly didn't. Or at least that's what her parents think...

Brindleton Bay, 1883

Meanwhile, 1500 miles away, Hugh still remained in Brindleton Bay Orphanage - and with every passing year, his hope of being adopted was growing smaller and smaller. At 15 years old, he was closer to a man now than a child, after all.

One day, while doing chores, he spotted a woman at the front desk talking with Sister Ruth; he couldn't help but feel his spirits lift a little. Even if it was very unlikely that he'd ever be adopted, it still made him happy knowing one of his fellow orphans would.

However, as he listened in on more of the conversation, a sudden wave of icy shock swept over his body, freezing him solid with disbelief.

"...Are you kidding me?!" the unfamiliar woman snarled, a trace of an Irish accent present in her voice. "This girl is my granddaughter! I have been saving up money for YEARS to get her back - and I come back to news that she's been shipped off West?!"

"I understand your frustration, ma'am," the nun hissed back, clearly using every ounce of her self-control not to lash out. "But I cannot give you any further information -"

"Surely you have documents! Please, I-I've spent the past 7 YEARS working to get her back! Please, her name is Grace Mulholland -"

"Like I said before, I can't help you!"

"UGH!" The woman suddenly jumped to her feet, slinging a series of enraged insults in what Hugh assumed to be Irish, before turning around and beginning to storm out.

Hugh watched her go, his mind reeling. Had he misheard her? Did she really say Grace Mulholland? Did that mean that this was Catherine - Grace's Grandma Catherine? He had always had his private doubts when Grace used to insist that her grandmother was coming to get her - but, now, it seemed that she was right. She really had come for her.

The only problem was that she was 2 years too late.

In a moment of impulsive desperation, Hugh rushed over to the older woman. "Hey! Wait!"

"Go away, kid. I'm not in the mood to talk right now," muttered the woman.

"P-Please, ma'am - you were here for Grace Mulholland, right?"

The woman suddenly froze, and was silent for several moments. Hugh was about to ask again when she looked up at him with a cautious, yet hopeful look in her eyes. "That I am. And who might you be? Do you know her?"

"I-I'm Hugh Gallagher, miss," he excitedly explained. "Grace was my best friend while she was here. They put her on a train two years ago out West, and I haven't seen her since. But I swore to myself and her that I'd go find her when I got outta here."

The woman was silent for a few moments, thinking; finally, she wordlessly went over to the little table in the middle of the room, got a piece of paper and a pen, and scribbled something down. She handed the paper to the boy, a smile on her face.

"Well, when you do get out, come find me," was all she said, before silently turning around and leaving the orphanage.

Hugh looked over the note, reading it over and over again - it contained the woman's name, Catherine Kelly, and her address. With every letter he read, more and more determination and excitement brewed in his chest. When he finally folded up the paper and placed it into his pocket, he felt as though his heart would burst.

He was closer than ever to finding Grace - all that he needed to do now was wait until he was old enough to leave. With a pang he realized how long that would be - 3 years that would surely feel like an eternity.

But, he was willing to wait. This was for his best friend, after all; he'd fulfill his promise to her, no longer how long it would take.

One day not long after moving, Francis decides to pay a visit to their neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson.

Mrs. Mildred Jackson is the sister of Mary Baker's new husband, Franklin. She is an activist and journalist while her husband, Elmer, is the pastor at the local church.

"Hello there, you must be?"

"Francis Wright. I am Mary Baker's sister-in-law. I recently moved in with Virginia Wright, the wife of my late brother, and her children. We haven't been in the neighborhood long, so I thought I would pay a visit."

"Pleased to meet you, Ms. Wright. You've come at a good time; my husband is home. Would you care to join us in the sitting room?"

"It's nice to meet you, Ms. Wright. My name is Elmer Jackson, and you've already met my wife. Have you had a chance to attend a church service yet, by any chance?"

"No, we unfortunately have not. But we plan to soon. You are the pastor, I have heard."

"I am. I work as a pastor at the Brindleton Bay Church, while my darling Mildred writes articles for a local newspaper."

"I would love to read your work sometime, Mrs. Jackson."

"Of course, I do love to share my work with an interested audience."

"How long have you two lived here, by the way? I heard your brother only moved within the last year."

"That's correct. Franklin and Mary just moved in about a year ago. Elmer and I have lived here for two or three years now. We moved north from Willow Creek for better opportunities for ourselves and our three children."

"You said you have three children?"

"Yes. two girls and one boy. You said your sister has two of her own?"

"My sister-in-law, yes."

"Perhaps we can bring them together sometime. I am sure the children would love some new company."

"I think that would be lovely."

Today in Pleasant Hills #12

/// Rotation 1, Spring Mortimer & Dina's Household Part 3 ///

Everyone is almost over the bought of itchy plumbob they've been fighting, and it sure is a relief to them all.

Dina's been working hard this week and has managed to get herself promoted all the way up to Assistant Manger. Pretty impressive considering she did that while not feeling very well.. She's very happy, and Mortimer is proud of her accomplishment.

Little Nebula has been potty trained, and has integrated into the family smoothly. Mortmer dotes on her and spends most of his time giving her lots and lots of love.

By Friday, little Nebula wasn't looking so little though! And therefore, a big trip to Pupperstone Dog Park in Brindleton Bay was in order. Mortimer took her for a walk though the neighbourhood by the park just to see the sights, and afterwards they worked on training on the obstacle course. Nebula was great at it! Also, she was a huge hit with the Frisbee Force club in general (especially Daniel Pleasant!).

All in all, it was a wonderful day out, and only brought Mortimer and his dog closer together.

Saturday brought a massive thunderstorm that had everyone cowering inside. Unfortunately, it was also Alexander's birthday, and although he invited a few of the neighbourhood kids over for a little party, the storm kept everyone from having much fun. Still, Alexander grew up well and is now a teenager.

They would like you to refer to them as just "Alex" now, please. Dina and Alex still haven't been getting along, but maybe now that Alex is a teenager, they will be able to find more in common and get along better. But Alex also still believes that their mom is still with them. They swore they felt her presence right there at their side as they entered into teenagerhood. And who knows, maybe Bella is....

We’ve completed a week with the McFlys, so it’s time to move onto the next family on the list -- Eric, Andy, and Laserwolf! What amazing adventures will they have during our stay with them?

. . .Well, right off the bat, Laserwolf needed a trip to the vet. Apparently Ice Fur is going around the world, and poor Laserwolf ended up catching it off-camera. Can’t have our poor doggy feeling -- and looking -- blue! Now, Eric actually had a Wellness treat in his inventory that would have cured this immediately, but I chose to take Laserwolf to the vet instead for two reasons:

A) I’ve been meaning to get Eric and Andy a cat, since Andy has the Cat Lover trait, and sending them to Brindleton Bay to befriend and adopt a stray sounded like fun

B) . . .more honestly, I completely forgot Eric had that treat. ^^;

So yeah, it was off to the local Pawspital to get Laserwolf treated by our favorite alien vet, Katy Woo. As you can see, it was a fairly busy day at the clinic, with pets coming in for all sorts of reasons. Including Victor showing up with Dinah, because of course. XD I swear, at least one of the Liddell-Van Dort family is contractually obligated to show up in at least one episode of every other family’s updates. . .

Anyway, Laserwolf was happily seen pretty quickly, and Eric was able to afford the best treatment without issue, so it wasn’t long until our favorite pupper was cured. But what was Andy doing while Eric was seeing to the health of his beloved dog?

Sims In Bloom: Generation 2 Pt. 21 (Granny Plantsim?!)

"You're really pregnant? How many months? How big is the baby right now?" Holly took in her sister's news during a quick visit to see her in Brindleton Bay.

"Two months, and not very big. About the size of a plum, I think."

"Wow! I can't believe I'm going to be an auntie! What are you and Malcolm going to do about it?"

"I'm going to raise the baby alone, actually. I haven't told him yet."

Holly's eyes bulged. "Are you sure you know what you're getting into? Have you talked to Mom and Dad?"

Heather shook her head. "I haven't been home to Henford in a while and I don't want to tell them this news over the phone."

Less than an hour after Holly left to return to San Myshuno, Heather's mother called. "Holly tells me we need to have you over for dinner tonight."

Heather rolled her eyes and laughed. "Of course she did. What are you cooking?"

When Heather arrived in Henford, she was shocked to see her mother with leafy hair and green skin. A tree with a thick trunk and feathery lilac leaves stood in the yard next to their cowplant skeleton, and Neal glanced at his green-haired wife with a loving shake of his head. "You actually did it!" Heather cried. Daisy had grown a portal to an enchanted forest with magic beans, plucked a forbidden fruit, and eaten it whole. "Does it feel weird only needing the sun to refill your hunger?"

"It's the strangest sensation I've ever experienced - even stranger than the wobbled gravity field past Sixam when I went to space. The researcher in me can't wait to write all about it, but I miss your Dad's veggie burgers already."

"How long until the effects of the fruit wear off?"

"A few months. Sometimes half a year. I'll be back to my old self by River and Cassandra's wedding."

"And by the time you'll be a grandmother, hopefully."

Her mother's temporarily green eyes bulged. "You're pregnant?" she said, unsure whether to be elated or concerned. "Is Malcolm the father?"

Heather nodded. "He is. But I've decided to raise the baby alone."

"Are you sure? Maybe I should move in with you to help out," mused Daisy.

"My house is too small for you, me, the cats, and a baby!"

"It's just that your father and I always had each other when you kids were small. We never wanted you to struggle."

"I'll be fine, Mom. I'm like you: When I set my mind to something, I'll see it through," Heather said. "I've thought hard about this since I found out. I know it won't be easy. But I'm ready to do this. I'm ready to be a mom and run my clinic, and I know you'll all be a phone call away if I'm ever in over my head."

With her assurance, her family offered warm congratulations to Heather's life-changing news.

In San Myshuno, Malcolm fretted over what to do for months. He knew his mother expected grandchildren and he wanted children someday, but he was only 25. He didn’t want one right now, and he’d broken things off with Heather, in part, because they’d come from such different worlds and had such different ideas about family. But even after Everett returned to Oasis Springs, Malcolm didn’t hear from Heather, so he took advantage of her silence to put off dealing with his major problem until Heather was only a trimester away from delivery.

But then his mother returned from work one evening and called her son into the kitchen. "I heard quite the piece of gossip at work today. Apparently the owner of Brindleton Pawspital will need family leave soon. How long have you known?"

Malcolm's stomach twisted, and Nancy could tell from his dropped shoulders he'd been lying to her.

"I know that girl is carrying my grandchild and I'll prove it with every resource at my disposal if need be. Is her cat-infested home even safe for a child?"

"Mom, let me deal with it."

"Are you actually going to deal with it, Malcolm? Because if you want to keep sitting on your hands-"

"I said I'll deal with it."

Malcolm still had no idea what he was going to do, but now he had to think fast. ->
