Steddie Hogwarts Au?

I need someone to take the internet away from me. I have massive writers block, but my brain also has this stupid- stupid idea I don't have the energy to write between My two WIPs- but god. My Non-binary ass is truly trying my own patience at this point. The massive urge, to write a Steddie Hogwarts Au??? (Fuck JK Rowling) But it's- like, not through the years, and it literally doesn't involve the actual cast of HP, because fuck that- that's boring. Yeah Dark wizards, but more like Dark forces kind of thing. Tw: Child abuse, child death (unnamed child)

Anyway- Stevie- Born into a very rich, pureblood family- all Slytherin's or Ravenclaw's. At least on his father's side, his mother is French and she went to Beauxbatons- Steve's got a, King Steve thing going on- Quidditch chaser, and he's good at it. He's the top of his class in Charms but not really anywhere else, and he's is a perfect. (so I'm thinking 6th year-) He's the third year and under "whisper" the younger years flock to him, it's on the down low. But he's really good with kids. Crying because of Tests? You miss your Parents? Steve's got you, just quietly and out of the way. Eddie is a half-blood, father is a muggle, and his Mom is a Witch. Her line of families jumps from houses to houses, no real lineage to uphold. Wayne was a Gryffindor. (That's not important to the story, but it's important to me) Eddie is the guy to go to if you are in need of something. He'll walk you to class if someone bothering you, he still stands on the Tables in the great hall at Lunch. It's a commonly know thing that if anyone needs anything that Eddie will help without asking too may questions. No matter what house. As long as you aren't a bully. (there is asshole tax, but he respects the grind) Steve is a Slytherin (Hang in there with me please. I promise I'm not a lunatic) Eddie is a Gryffindor (That's a brave boy, he's a reckless boy, and a man with a lot of courage.) I haven't fully figured out the like semantics, lore and general details- because I'm desperately trying to refrain from writing anything. But I'd say 5th or 6th year- (6th or 7th for Eddie) Steve's brutality attacked. It's in a Muggle Village within a few hours of walking of the Harrington Manor- and Steve goes down there when he needs to get out that house, with a pocket full of Muggle Currency and no Wand. When his Dad is pissed off and not above hexing or cursing his own kid. When his Mother is passed out drunk in the sitting room. He always gets the same thing, Hot Chocolate from the little family owned Café that's better than any house Elf could ever make- The Woman and her wife adore Steve and he hasn't had to pay since he was 7. He always leaves the amount in the tip jar. Walks to the candy store two fronts down, and buys whatever the little group of kids pressing their hands all over the window out front whatever they want with what's left over in his pockets. Like he always does. Might be The Party, might be just a group of Muggle children. It's not even a magical attack. It's not an attempt to kill the heir to an incredibly wealthy house. It's just some muggles who took offense to Steve's and a group of little kids existence. However it does maul up half of his face, his ribs and his hands. The blunt force trauma of the attack leaves him with little of his hearing left. The assault almost kills him. (Despite his attempts to keep the angry attention all on him. It does kill a little boy, Steve sees his head split open on the pavement every time he so much as blinks.) He doesn't talk much either after. Little things, yes or no- but that's about it. And that's far in-between. He won't tell anyone what actually happened, or at least can't. Anyone who wants the story has to get it from the Muggles who looked on in Horror- and the man who called emergency services. Both his parents had already written him off as useless before- but not even more so.

When he returns to Hogwarts for the School Year, he's basically been abandoned and shunned by the rest of the pureblood peers in his house and in the other houses. His friend group wasn't restricted to one house, but all of them leave him when it's clear he's a shell of a human being and can't use him to further themselves in Wixen society. not when he can hardly hear and refuses to talk. They come back to school, and Steve ends up "The Outcast" A worse Fate than Eddie "The Freak" Munson. It doesn't help that Hargrove who before hadn't liked Steve but they had the same friends- but they kept mostly to themselves- just steps to kick the dog while it's down. Tells Steve loudly, and aggressively that his "Pretty face and pretty words couldn't save him. He was taking his crown." Pushes him around, mocks him, all but bodily removes him from their compartment on the Train. It hurts more when no ones says anything about it. A lot of the kids from years previous are unnerved by his appearance, and the next set of first years are terrified of him. And that's only the Train ride, the carriage ride (he can see the thestrals now), and Welcome Feast. By the time they get down to the Dungeon and under the lake to the common room- The Castle refused to let him in. He's left stranded in the chilled hallway, and no one cares. He doesn't know where his trunk is, his things, and his Cat even are. Steve bathes in the Perfects bathrooms as is his right with his position, Sleeps in fits. In History of Magic, and sometimes empty classrooms between his classes, and homework. Uses quick cleaning charms on the robes he wore when he first arrived. Steve see's it as his atonement for letting that little boy die. Eddie's actually the one to notice somethings far more wrong that Steve just being traumatized. The younger boy was completely withdrawn and almost totally ostracized from his house and no matter how many other students attempt to reach out. Eddie watches as they are all treated with a almost hostile kind of fear. Slytherin and Gryffindor share History of magic. 5th, 6th and 7th years took it together, (staffing issues) so Eddie watched more than once as Steve's pale, scarred up face- develop even deeper bruises under his eyes. It's a sudden thought, one that he makes on his own and without talking to anyone about it- not even thinking to owl his Uncle for advice. That he was going to befriend Steve Harrington, and make sure the dude actually got some fucking sleep. It takes weeks, Eddie walks him to and from Classes whether the younger boy wants him to or not when he realizes that, the reason there's been a lack of bullying in the younger student body is because almost everyone has been targeting Steve. He keeps a notebook within that he only ever uses to talk to Steve with. Takes in stride every single little giggle he can pry out of the others lips. He celebrates Steve making noise in response to him talking in the privacy of his dorm room. Steve sits with him at lunch, and sometimes breakfast if he can find the boy before classes start. He's a strike of green among Red. The Gryffindor's take to Steve slowly but fall in line with Eddie glaring over his shoulder.

Gareth tells him that he's Harrington's guard dog one day, and Eddie takes that in stride too. Steve needs a guard dog with the way Hargrove looks like he wants the brunette 6 feet under. It's halfway through October when Eddie realizes that Steve can't get into his own common room. He beats himself up over it for the rest of the year too- because he notices that there's a roughly done patch on Steve's robes sleeve- and Eddie hates that it takes him almost a week to recognize the same spot. See, Eddie made the patch. Because it was Eddie's fault that Steve ripped a hole in his robe anyway. They'd been walking along the edge of the Forbidden forest, Eddie talking, Steve laughing. (he was pretty, with or without the scars- Eddie was all but tripping over himself to see that smile. No matter how weak it was) Steve had tripped, because Eddie had knocked their shoulders together. Ripped up his robes, and scrapped up his arm. Eddie was quick to clean that up first, he hadn't liked the way Shell Steve had come back at the sight of the blood covering his skin. Eddie took the cloak when they parted ways at the Great Hall after dinner. Steve had been hesitant, but handed it over. He returned in after staying up for far too long with a patch of soft green cloth. Eddie knows he could have repaired it with magic- but, there was something in watching Steve's whole face light up at the sight of it. At first- Eddie had just thought Steve had just really liked the patch, that Eddie had fixed it. But then the weekend came, and he realized for the first time. That he hadn't seen Steve out of uniform the entire time so far. And that the washing day had passed and Steve was still wearing the same clothes. He waited a week, the same. Eddie had no idea what he was supposed to do. Steve clearly wasn't being either allowed in the common room, didn't have extra clothes- But, other signs pointed to other things. That Steve couldn't get in the common room. Broken quills, lack of notebooks, the change of clothes- the same robes. How he always slept in History of Magic when Eddie knows before that the other didn't. They'd shared the same class for awhile now. Eddie hates, hates that he doesn't bring it up to Steve- but he knows enough now that Steve would just ignore him on the subject, and blow him off and hide for weeks. it had happened about something before- So Eddie went to his Head of house for the first time since 1st year.

Steve's pulled from all classes for two weeks, he's not even on the castle grounds. Eddie looked, and Eddie asked. When Steve comes back, he looks a little healthier, and he comes back in Hufflepuff yellow. Eddie smiles wide when he slips onto the bench at his elbow, stares at the new soft looking sweater under his robes, and the pants with yellow thread. His eyes find the green patch on the sleeve. Leans over and presses a kiss to the youngers temple. It doesn't magically get better. Steve still doesn't talk, he talks some now, short sentences 2 or 3 words at most. (his longest so far is 6 words and Eddie kissed him on the nose for that one, right on a scar). But only with Eddie, and eventually with Robin- a girl in Hufflepuff who attaches herself at Steve's hip and declares herself his bestfriend. They don't start officially dating until just after Yule either. Eddie kisses him in the middle of the Great Hall after Steve gives him the biggest laugh he's heard out of the other since the beginning of the year. There's bad days, and worst days, but the good days- the good days make it worth it. School is hard, on both of them. Its harder when Steve returns from Yule with less words than when he left. It's hard when Steve sometimes finds himself sleeping in empty classrooms out of mindless habit. It's hard when sometimes all Steve can think about is drowning, can see the boy whose name he doesn't know, but his body he can never unsee. It's hard when Eddie graduates. It's hard for the both of them knowing that Steve will have to go back just one more time. Steve Stays with Eddie and Wayne over the summer between his own 6th and 7th year- only goes back to his parents the first week and arrives on their doorstep at 12 in the morning with tears running down his face, his trunk and cat in hands and never goes back. Eddie works in a small bookstore, and Steve joins him when he finally graduates. They both learn Sign Language, for days when Steve is completely non-verbal, and because it's easier on his brain. And Eddie loves him.

--- I clearly thought about this far more, than I had wanted to. And Now that I've written it down I have even MORE Ideas. This was counter productive to my plans of just spitting out the idea. I was just- "Traumatize Steve Harrington who doesn't fit in his house anymore and the castle just pushing him out- and Steve seeing that as a "this is what you deserve for failing to protect a child who didn't deserve to die- this is what you deserve for not being fast enough, for being too stupid to bring your wand-" and not as a. "This house won't help you in your journey anymore," but when has magic ever been like, straight forwards. And then ofc Eddie's here. :)"

This was far longer than I thought it was, I'm so sorry- I'm emotionally invested in this Au now- Damnit.

Small Introduction:

Hey there! I have done many iterations of this and honestly I just miss it! I hope you all will take the time to read this over as i spent a lot of time on this and it's not fun when people don't read everything.

Plot:

This does go chronologically through Harry Potter's years at Hogwarts and the struggles he deals with as well as his friends and enemies at school. But not only will we be following Harry Potter but some other characters.

My main character, Catalina Thorne, has gone through quite a lot. Not by any means as much as Harry Potter, The Boy Who Lived. But she has dealt with things her classmates and friends could scarcely ever go through. She had to watch her life unfold as a lie and had to lie about the true death of her family. She has to keep a secret of the family safe. The one person she shouldn't trust her secret to is the son of a death eater. But Catalina, the shy sweet innocent girl that she plays, goes and gets a crush on the worst person she can, Draco Malfoy. Can she manage to keep her family secret when her boyfriend's family is one of the darkest wizarding families? Find out!

SPECIES & ABILITIES

Playable Species

Werewolves

Werewolves can only come into being via a bite from an existing werewolf. They are able to have children naturally, but the idea that they could pass a “werewolf gene” on is scientifically unfounded and born of superstition and fear. Wolfsbane Potion does exist, but is very expensive and difficult for most individuals to acquire without external assistance of some sort.

Vampires

Vampires similarly can only be created via an individual being bitten by another vampire. All vampires can sustain themselves on animal blood if they desire, but will not be at full strength unless they consume human blood. Although vampires can eat human food, it does not provide adequate nutrition. If they do not imbibe blood daily, they will become fatigued. Vampires cannot exist in sunlight nor procreate with other vampires (or non-vampires, for that matter).

Half-Giants

Half-giants are the offspring or grand-offspring of a full giant with a human. They are able to use wands and produce magic, but they also have a higher natural physical resistance to spells. Additionally, they are stronger than the average wixen and capable of more physical feats (within reason). Half-giants generally retain a taller and larger height and build from their giant heritage.

Half-Veela

Half-veela are the offspring of a full veela with a human. Although half-veela have the natural charm and allure of a full veela, they do not have the ability to transform into harpy-like creatures or throw fire at will. However, they do seem to have more of an affinity for fire spells generally, and there are stories about individuals who find themselves in a somewhat hypnotic state after interacting with a half-veela. It is unclear whether these are only stories or truth.

The following abilities are available for play on Chaos Theory. Please be mindful when creating characters with these abilities; the application should touch on how they worked on or naturally arrived at these abilities as appropriate. Staff have discretion to ask for additional details if they feel like the ability was not sufficiently explained in the application.

We are a highly AU setting open to making significant modifications to canon to reflect our goal of reclaiming JKR’s universe. We would like to actively encourage members and guests to reach out to a staff member if you have any other suggestions to adjust canon.

Below is an overview of notable canon divergences and the supplementary lore that form part of our collective world building.

No House Elves or Goblins

In order to avoid having to engage with any part of JKR’s anti-semitism and use of the “happy slaves” trope, house elves and goblins do not exist on Chaos Theory. Gringotts is fully run and owned by wix folk.

Educational System

Secondary Schools

We do not follow canon lore on magical secondary schools outside of Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang for a multitude of different reasons. However, we do allow members to create their own schools and colleges based anywhere around the world as long as these are mindful and do not engage with closed cultures. These schools are subject to final staff approval.

Further Education

After Hogwarts (and most other European Wixen secondary schools), the tradition is for young wix to either begin full-time work, training in paid or partially paid apprenticeships, or pursue further education. Apprenticeship is the most common route post-secondary school.

Magical universities exist for more academic or technical skill-based work that cannot be fully trained into through apprenticeships alone. Undergraduate degrees last for 3 years and are typically pursued for the following careers (though are not necessarily essential for such careers): academia, intelligence services (e.g. Department of Mysteries), curse breaking, advanced potions and alchemy, law, healing, etc. This is not an exhaustive list.

There are three Wixen magical universities or colleges in Britain and Northern Ireland in our universe:

the Nicholas Flamel Institute of Higher Education in Bristol, England;

All Souls College of the University of Oxford in Oxford, England;

Whitecliff College near Belfast, N. Ireland.

Agatha Coraline Lorraine

is Beauxbaton’s own wandmaker. She provides every new student (at the age of 10) with their own wand for free once they pass their entry exam. Testing their creativity, strength, endurance and motivation, she determines the best wood, length and core. You can buy a new one at any time, though they’re rather pricey and take a while to be made -- as each new wand is hand-crafted for you. It’s not uncommon that students upon graduating buy a new wand, or get bought one by their parents as a gift. She also tends to broken wands and generally helps adjusting students’ hands to their grip over the years. Lu, being the valedictorian of their year, was offered a new wand for free as a prize, but Lu declined. After all, it was this wand that had gotten them so far.

Siren-hair core

is not an unusual core in France. The rivers that cross the country are famous for being inhabited by sailor-luring sirens. They’re known for being both of great dignity and beauty as well as being fiercely ambitious. Wand-owners with that core are usually known to be similar. 

Elm Wood

“The unfounded belief that only pure-bloods can produce magic from elm wands was undoubtedly started by some elm wand owner seeking to prove his own blood credentials, for I have known perfect matches of elm wands who are Muggle-borns. The truth is that elm wands prefer owners with presence, magical dexterity and a certain native dignity. Of all wand woods, elm, in my experience, produces the fewest accidents, the least foolish errors, and the most elegant charms and spells; these are sophisticated wands, capable of highly advanced magic in the right hands (which, again, makes it highly desirable to those who espouse the pure-blood philosophy).” says Ollivander, and Lorraine would probably agree.

This came to a surprise to most people who met Lu during their years at Beauxbaton. Lu was so fixed and stubborn on their goals, unbending and unwilling to give anything up to reach them, starting fights wherever it was needed, and refusing to ever sand down their edges, that they were quite famous for being unapproachable. There was no point in discussing things with Lu, or starting debates, Lu had their own set of truths and wrongs, and one either participated or one wasn’t Lu’s time. But Lorraine had not made a mistake with the wood, for when they had first met the little boy with the breaking voice and trembling fingers, she’d seen that all he was going to become, was going to be his choice. Each trait Lu chose to depict would stand in direct opposition to another truth within them, and for this they’d need a wood willing to adapt. Not to others, no, but to the conflict in their own heart.

Thinking about @lullabyknell‘s analysis of how the Deathly Hollows hecked up HP, how to do stuff better, and the questions boiling down to “What do you want to include? Where is this going?” and personal preferences. So okay, here’s my take on a potential redo that includes them:

For starters, I don’t wanna introduce actual after-life-controlling entities to the series, but I do think the Hollows had potential for wizarding cultural worldbuilding, so introduce the story and the idea of them way earlier.

I also think the wand-lore was cool, and was being laid down in Philosopher’s Stone and came back in Goblet of Fire, but didn’t really get used much outside Harry and Voldemort’s duels. We had background issues with Neville’s inherited wand not working well for him (Ron’s own inherited wand did until it got busted). But even while setting up the trail of Elder Wand transfers in earlier books, we didn’t know about it properly until Deathly Hollows, and our only solid practical demonstration was Hermione not being able to use Lestrange’s well because she hadn’t defeated her herself.

Harry Potter is a fantasy mystery series that was mostly book-specific mysteries and only a few overarching ones. Harry was always going to defeat Voldemort, and I think whether it was by a more practical-actions version of “Power of Love” or the string-of-ownership of the Elder Wand needed to be decided earlier and then built up through most of the series.

You can combine them, such as making it super clear that acts of love get Harry into place to use the Elder Wand (which arguably his self sacrifice did, his own love for others, but I do like other characters love for HIM, and not just his dead mom). Or have a divination expert go “Oh yeah, the Prophecy already got fulfilled when your mom protected you, you’re destiny-free now, just kick Riddle in the junk.”

Or maybe by having someone else who got the Elder Wand ownership explicitly giving Harry their normal wand because he lost his. A combination of “I love you, I will give up my own weapon so you can protect yourself” and “Harry is their Champion” because that’s a thing and it’s a cool thing that I like. Come on, the boy was Champion of Hogwarts.

(I would be verklempt if it was McGonagall to do this.)

You know where the perfect place to introduce wand ownership transferring by battle is? Chamber of Secrets. They had a dueling club! It didn’t last, but they had it, and a spate of “Hey, my wand is acting up! Why is that?” after the first meeting when dozens of students disarmed each other (or failed to) is a great intro!

You can set up “you have to win it back” (students agreeing to duel secretly, or maybe the club having a second meeting to facilitate it) or the idea of peaceful returns or loans being possible. Or just sheer “I know I lost this wand but I will keep using it until it remembers me” determination from some students.

Anyway, back to the Deathly Hollows as cultural worldbuilding.

You know what people do with amazing tools? Try to recreate them!

Mention the Hollows offhandedly in the first three books a few times, while also introducing objects that might be them, or are clearly attempts at recreating them. Put the symbol in the margin doodles of an old textbook, or even in the background of Dumbledore’s office (a reminder to himself not to fuck up again, but making him look hella suspicious later).

Put the story itself in Goblet of Fire, when we have the international students. People like Viktor Krum who have a very different view of their symbol than the British wizards. Give us an opening for Ron to tell Harry and Hermione the tale (and the debate whether the Hollows were gifts from Death or were just normal but powerful enchanted objects made by humans).

An opening to learn more about the Grindelwald war, and why Dumbledore is considered such a big fucking deal for defeating him. Some children and grandchildren of survivors sharing family stories to drive in why the older generations are so fucking desperate to stop a second Dark Lord from getting that powerful.

And now once we’ve told the tale of the Three Brothers and their Deathly Hollows, we revisit those introduced objects from the first three books.

Like...the Mirror of Erised! An attempt to view and speak with your lost loved ones like the Stone, but it failed. It shows your heart’s desire, which maybe for the builder was their lost loved ones, but isn’t for other people.

Maybe add other ghost-related objects, like ring that can summon them, or talk to them with summoning them, which the teachers just use to have the castle ghosts help them keep an eye on students.

Rumors that Grindelwald had the Elder Wand! Combo this with the Durmstrang and Beauxbatons students being angry about this rumor. “Why do you think he had to have a legendary wand to do evil? Evil is not special.”

Harry’s invisibility cloak. You could have it be passed down through the Potters for generations, and when he asks Sirius he says “Oh yeah, your dad and grandpa used to joke it was a Hollow, but they’re pretty sure it was some skilled ancestor too many generations back to remember who was trying to recreate it.”

Or you could use Lullabyknell’s idea of James Potter crafting the cloak itself, showing his skills tangibly aside from the Map and Animagus transformation, and offering Harry a protection.

(Dumbledore doesn’t even need to have borrowed it, he could have just dug it out of the rubble with some other belongings that survived, and gives Harry a shoebox of magical items when he gets to Hogwarts.)

Lore Introduction

So, I love what JK has created, but let’s be honest here. It is far from perfect. Don’t get me wrong, I love the new schools she has shown us but I can’t imagine there are only 11 schools in the whole fucking world. Cultures are vastly different and there can be a lot of conflict if you put two cultures together, even if they come from the same country. Which is why I went on the quest of finding stuff I want to have as head canon. And it all started with my discovery of Czocha College of Wizardry in Poland. 

You may ask, but boo, what is the Czocha College of Wizardry?

It’s this huge LARP even (I sadly never participated in). The amazing thing is they have so much information regarding new possible schools! Now, most of the schools they have included in their lore is European, but that is only because, who would have guessed? Poland has to deal the most with other European countries. 

But don’t worry, I will try to include schools that exist in other continents as well. I can’t imagine Mexicans having no school of their own. Or China or India. Chinsese witchards all going to the Japanese school? Nah, man, sounds kinda fishy to me.

My brain shut down for a moment because I wasn’t sure what to say that I haven’t before, so I’m going to try to explain things I haven’t before, if I repeat myself forgive me :v

Careful what you wish for tho, here comes a longass rant, and I mean LONG

·Something I’ve barely talked about is Neon’s residences. She spent her childhood in Spain, in the Prieto Manor, big enough for her, her granparents and her uncles to live in, and still have much space to spare. The land around it is really large, with a field of almond trees that turn everything pink when in bloom, so part of their income comes from almond production. They also have different cultives, mainly to substain themselves, because her family isn’t exactly beloved, as in many think they’re better of dead. They also have vineyards with grapes specifically for wine production. Another way of income they have is with art. The manor has a room full of (mostly) spanish art pieces that they sell from time to time. Neon has sold pieces to the Thyssens, and donates some to certain collections when the museum opens later on.

Those are the things they’re known for, there’s rumors that they also deal with illegal stuff, but nobody can say for sure. Once they’ve graduated, Neon hires Jae to work under him. If you ask him, he says he’s the “financial administrator”, but he most definetly works as something else.

All their lands are surrounded by a thick forest charmed to work like a labyrinth. Only family members know the way, and there’s no chance of finding your way out to the other side by luck, the labyrinth will throw people away the way they came in. The forest is also full of stray dogs along with other average animals you’d find there. Neon has spent so much time in that forest she knows the whole place by memory, not just the way in and out, so it’s impossible for her to get lost.

On that note, Neon showed early signs of magic, many of which resulted in selfinjuries, like things exploding or catching fire when holding them or around her, as well as being capable of making dogs do her bidding unknowingly, thinking they just really liked her and could understand her.

Her second residence is in England, Yorkshire. Living in her old granparents house, in a small, mostly full of wizards town. A pretty big two story victorian house, Neon didn’t like it nearly as much as the manor, mainly because it has a small garden, unlike the big fields they have in Spain. Still she made it work for herself. Currently she lives with her uncles in their house, down the street, but she drops by from time to time keep the house clean.

· If it weren’t for her grandfather, they would all be spoiled brats. Coming from nothing, Gonzalo Prieto made sure he taught them humility amongst other things. Rocio was a pretty strict mother and it rubbed off on them, making them strict mothers in turn. Teaching to their kids was pretty serious, things like writing with good caligraphy, reading, maths, history and art, (no wonder Neon hates paying attention yet gets good grades, she’s used to studying). Carmen sent Nuria and Neon to get some work on summer after their third year as a way for them to learn what she and Luisa had learn working with their father. With him being gone, Carmen decided the best way for them to learn what they did was to just work, so Nuria ends up in a bakery, where she learns not to burn the whole kitchen, and she made the bakers cry a lot with whatever she ended up cooking until she got decent. Neon on the other hand went to a blacksmith and just like Nuria, at the beggining it was a complete disaster. After a month of just cleaning and watching she got to try making a knife blade and it ended horribly, and broken. The next year she managed to make an actual knife blade that could cut. By year 6 she’s managed to forge many swords, they’re not the finest work, but they’ll do for this one spell she’s been planing to invent for a while. She uses it for the first time against her uncle.

·There’s many projects unfinished saved away by family members, mainly because they died before they could get midway or start. Neon’s dad had blueprints of a house on the beach he wanted to make for the family to go on vacation. Neon also starts her own project when she’s 14/15, her own scholarship for orphan wizards. Romul was the one who encouraged her to go through with it, and joined in the idea, her scholarship centered in Hogwarts students, and his in Beauxbatons students.

·Here’s an essay I wrote some time ago about character soundtrack themes, behold:

When creating the themes for the Prieto members (Neon, Nuria, Laura, Argon and Narciso) they all need one intrument in common that ties them together, the organ. The organ is the one instrument all members learn to play from a young age and they have one in the Prieto manor. This one intrument plays along with the motif chosen for them. The Dies Irae. The Dies Irae is an hymn in latin about judgement death, and is used frequently in media to signify death, this makes reference to the fact that all the family has a reputation of commiting homicides and the fear we see in the main four that their uncle is going to kill them. All the titles make allusion to church and religion. Although they are not religious, the play comes from the fact it all seems to go beyond what they can choose, as if a bigger force decided their fates from the start, like a marciless god, and the darkness of the songs plays more like requiems than character themes.It also rounds up with their symbol, the church grimm.

Each of them get their own special instruments within their themes, so:

Neon's themes would be:

-Church: composed with organ, violin (another instrument she plays) and some percussion, it's sombre and dark and is usually played when Neon is alone, either figuring out mysteryes around her or in introspection scenes.

- Grimm's wail: composed with an organ, violins and double bass, and strong percussion like a bass drum, it's a reprise of church meant for action scenes like duels, specially the one's within storyline, like the fight with the ice knight or the dragon.

Nuria's themes would be:

-Shrine: composed with organ and some acoustic guitar. it's a simple theme made for scenes where Nuria (or other members) are seen contemplating choices, past memories, etc. It has a certain nostalgia to it

-Golden cross: composed of just organ and electric guitar, it's a more rebelious theme played for Nuria's duels and stronger moments of emotion, the change of guitar mimics her change from sweet and docile to determined and more "violent"

Laura's themes would be:

-Faith: composed with organ alone it's a soft sad melody that goes along her guilt of having lost Argon and her denial of involving herself with Neon and Nuria's life out of fear of screwing up and losing them too. It starts out quite depressing and builds up to a darker tone, but always quiet like her, as if the melody also tries to hold in rage.

-Sin: another reprise of the original (Faith), made with organ and heavy percussion, brass drums and kettleddrums, used specially in moments of high tension, the closer she is to finding her uncle, the longer we hear this piece.

Argon's themes would be:

-Finding Solace: We hear this song in flashbacks. Depending on who is remembering we hear one part or another. Made of organ and harp at the begining, it's the part that plays on Neon/Nuria/Laura's memories of him, sweet and naive, and organ and brass air instruments in later parts are used in memories by Duncan/Rakepick/anyone who dealt with him when he was manipulating other's/doing shady stuff, more sincere but dark.

-Broken Prayer: made with organ, violins and strong percussion in paralel's Neon's theme "Grimm's wail", also used on more intense scenes.

Narcisso has one theme:

-Lost religion: made up of organ alone and one drum set. Plays with both the Dies Irae and a couple of notes that remind of the theme song of The phantom of the opera, playing both with death and mystery as to what this character really wants and seeks.

The family has it's own theme, played only twice in full. Made up of organs, electric guitar, violins and percussion intruments plays like a violent, dark orchestra, with punctual moments of choral voices singing as if a church choir, giving it a more gloom feel. The two instances played in full are in the memory of Rocio losing all her siblings and father, and the start of the battle between Narciso and his nieces. Small parts may be heard in scenes where Neon and Narcisso clash, like the river incident or when he injures her leg before year 6.

There could be more themes, but these are the most important ones I thought about.

Where Do Those Names Come From?!

Rowling seems to have a fun time coming up with names for everything in her book. “She uses foreign words, puns, and anagrams; makes references to history and myth; and often takes names from maps.” For words such as Quidditch, she makes them up. It was brought up that a fan pointed out letters from each ball used in the game make up the word Quidditch: Quaffle, Bludger, Bludger, and snitch. Something else that I think is special is that she also invents the histories for the words she invents. A companion book one can find is “Quidditch Through the Ages” where we can learn more about Quidditch.

Below are some examples of words with a little more meaning to them/where they came from:

O.W.L.s: Ordinary Wizarding Levels. To pass you would prove to be wise.

Gilderoy Lockhart: His first name refers to his being gilded to make him seem more intelligent and attractive. His last name connects with author J.G. Lockhart and fits his role as a writer of wizard lore.

History

The Grey Lady: Lady Jane Grey was the queen of England for 9 days in 1553 before being killed.

Religion and Mythology

Remus Lupin: Lupus is Latin for ‘wolf.’ Additionally, the legendary founders of Rome were named Romulus and Remus.

Saints

Hedwig: under her patronage, nuns chose as their work the education of orphaned children, like Harry.

And a couple fun words: Diagon Alley runs “diagonally.” Knockturn Alley is not a place you want to visit “nocturnally.”

Random LGBT Harry Potter Head Canons Because I Can.

So I posted a couple days ago about my feelings about the whole J.K. Rowling being transphobic issue. And I’ve actually gone back over some of my old Harry Potter things, and some of the lore on the wiki and I’ve decided… Fuck it I’m not gonna let anyone, even the creator, ruin my love of this franchise that means so much to me. Instead I’m going to work to make it a more welcoming place than she ever could.

So in that name, I went to the “historical figures” tab on the Harry Potter Wiki and will be assigning my LGBT head canons to all the names that caught my eye or I just clicked on at random.

1. Beedle the Bard-  Writer of Wizard fairy tales and Gay man

2. Dame Antonia Creaseworthy- Headmistress of Hogwarts, knighted, and Lesbian woman

3. Professor Edessa Skanderberg- Headmistress of Hogwarts, social historian, specialized in muggle studies, and bisexual transwoman

4. Circe- Minor Greek goddess of magic and lesbians.

5. Josette Gauge- Member of the pureblood Gage family, relative to the Lestrange family, and bisexual woman.

6. Sage Bragnam- Magical historian specializing in ancient artifacts and runes, assisted the  Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, and gay trans man.

7.Brutus Scrimgeour- Headmaster at Hogwarts, quidditch enthusiast, and pansexual man

8. Hengist of Woodcroft- Founder of the wizard village Hogsmeade, and gay man

 And that was actually a lot of fun for me. Now what I want to stress is that I did these at complete RANDOM. I saw a name, clicked on it, looked at an image (if one was even available), and came up with a head canon about their sexuality and gender on the spot. And that is how easy this is or should be.

Introducing LGBT characters is so easy you can literally just assign these ideas at random. So when a creator has a cast and universe the size of the Harry Potter one and they don’t have anything other than straight and cis character they have made a decision, conscious or not, to make it that way.

So to end this on a lighter note stay gay and be magical.

This one gives me big owies, it hurts like no tomorrow, but I’m hooked on this. This made me tear up because it just hurts that much. Ladybug is killed in battle against Hawkmoth, this deals with the aftermath, Adrien struggles to cope with it. He has to give up being Chat Noir, and his friends try to help him keep it together. Things get worse when he finds himself with a new responsibility he’s not sure he can handle. The author puts warnings at the beginning of each chapter, because it’s pretty heavy. Starting off Cassie has a scar on her Hip, she has it since she is little but she didn‘t know where she got it from. Sometimes she got strong emotional outbursts when she‘s 11-17 years old. While having those outbursts she feels insane pain on that scar. She never really looks at it because she thinks its ugly and she really wanna get rid of it… till she found out the truth.

Besides her mother (which kept it a secret), Sebastian saw her Scar first and told her that this scar isn‘t just a random scar… the scar is the word „fortë“ (which means strong in albanian“. After finding out that her scar is actually a word Cassie found more about her Father. He was the most powerful Wizard in Albania / the balkans and also the most feared because he is so powerful. (Since in the old balkans they believed in myths, fortunes and „dark“ magic like rituals and everything) some other „powerful“ magicians said that his first born child is going to be much stronger than him after he dies (which is correct) and wants to possibly take over the county and their witchcraft (which was obv. not true). The truth was that they wanted to take over the country but wanted to have everyone on their site so they are chasing Cassie because they believe she is dangerous and trying to k#ll her.

But to unlock her power she had to be „sacred“ by her dad if he dies before she is 18. (if he didn’t die she would get her power naturally) at one point he knew that he would die, so he gave her this scar with the word „strong“ to remember her she is stronger than everyone and she can do anything. Her mother was worried and mad that he unlocked her powers so, she locked up Cassie to safe her from them Magicians. Also she didn‘t wanted Cassie to go to Hogwarts because she knew that Hogwarts would push her powers, she would be more into it and learning how to wield it while in Beauxbatons she always had an eye on Cassie.

Her powers are very Unique and like a YingYang effect with her soulmates power… (he unlocks more skills of her power while she is making his stonger…. But i‘ll keep that for now!!👀) thats why people used black magic to prevent that she‘ll find her soulmate (thats why soulmates and her journey will be THOUGH).

Plus: she will find an little pendant on her journey with a specific crystal which will be very important for her development too!

Harry Potter Movie Streaming Guide: Where to Watch Online

Who doesn’t love to wind down in front the TV and watch everyone’s favorite boy wizard during a Harry Potter marathon on your NBCUniversal TV channel of choice? Unfortunately, Syfy can’t always be having one of their Harry Potter weekends. (Apparently.) For all of the other hours of your life, here a handy guide to where you can stream the Harry Potter movies online. It’s almost like magic…

There is some bad news on this front, however. As previous mentioned, NBCUniversal controls the broadcast and cable rights to the Harry Potter movie franchise through 2025. And perhaps understandably, they’d rather people watch the movies on their channels on not only via streaming. This means that all eight Harry Potter films were briefly available on WarnerMedia’s native streamer HBO Max in May before being removed a couple months later.

NBCUniversal then hosted the movies on its Peacock streaming platform beginning in August 2020 before taking them off in anticipation of the always-lucrative holiday season of Harry Potter marathons. Expect the movies to come back to Peacock sometime in 2021 but for now Harry Potter is a wizard without a streaming home.

What follows is a list of where Harry, Ron, Hermione, New Scamander, and friends can be found for purchase online.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald expands the scope of the would-be five installment prequel series greatly. Johnny Depp returns in earnest to portray Wizarding World Hitler analogue Gellert Grindelwald. Jude Law joins the cast as a young, spry Albus Dumbledore.

The movie didn’t fare that well at the box office or amongst critics but there is still plenty of early Harry Potter lore to be mined here along with a compelling action sequence or two.

it features three brand new schools and some old favourites - take a look and see!

SCHOOLS

While modern wizarding communities have been largely successful at keeping themselves far from muggle strife and war, the 20th century has presented a unique problem: total war. With whole countries and governments falling to fascism, occupation, invasion and bombings, even the wizarding world has been touched by the long fingers of the Second World War.

In France, Germany, and across Eastern Europe, a near-constant vigilance against discovery and avoiding the bloody machines of death that can so easily surprise an unprepared witch or wizard has left magical people decimated and exhausted. When coupled with Grindelwald's unstoppable march, rumoured to be deliberately flouting the International Statute of Secrecy to both slaughter the nonmagical and cause bloody inquisitions to turn public support to his campaign, many communities are on the brink of destruction.

Of the many communities that home educate their young witches and wizards, there are no records to check. But of those ancient European academies here is what we know:

HOGWARTS

Still standing and still accepting students of all ilks and creeds to its famous four houses, Hogwarts remains one of the finest magical institutions in the world - partly because of its advantageous position in the Scottish highlands, hidden from the bombing campaigns and literal invasions that have haunted the rest of the schools on this list. Lately it has been accepting more and more students from abroad - a policy that has caused friction with the Ministry, which feels the school is using international admission as a thinly-veiled attempt to take in war refugees. It is currently overseen by Headmaster Armando Dippet; until his recent duel with Grindelwald, Albus Dumbledore was Head of Transfiguration. With Albus out of the way, a young upstart called Tom Riddle has returned, and is entering his first year as a Defence Against the Dark Arts professor.

BEAUXBATONS

France's brightest and best magical academy suffered greatly under German occupation. Although its Headmistress and teachers did a wonderful job at hiding their students away, the school was bitterly divided over how to help their country as it suffocated under the German heel. Many teachers and older students broke off to attempt to help the various resistance movements, while the occupation made it nearly impossible to bring muggleborn students into the safety of their hidden classrooms. As they slowly recover from their losses and mourn their dead and lost, those arguments have taken on a different hue: does Grindelwald have a point? Or should the Statute be done away with completely?

HAUS ZAUBEREI

The German's school's name, when it is mentioned, is usually whispered now. One of the few magical schools to locate itself in a city, its heart was torn asunder with Berlin. Now it is a smoking ruin, rubble and reminders of the muggle ability to destroy even when it does not know it is doing so. The Haus Zauberei students that remain in the world mourn its loss as a centre of progressive learning, a school that focused its students on ways of learning from nature, that produced the best herbologists and magical architects in the world. Young German witches and wizards now are either taught at home, or - if it can be afforded - shipped abroad.

FLAUGUNGARðR

Ancient and incredible to behold, the Norse school makes its home above the clouds - literally, and figuratively. High above human cares, its ancient boats skim the skies, its halls perched on nothing but sheer magical will, and its students learn the ancient arts of runecasting, flying boat-building, and scrying. Here, under a Taboo created by the Headmaster, there can be no mention of the muggle or wizarding wars, or the suffering of the students it has left behind. Here there is no politics - only careful neutrality as its Professors survey the earth with the dispassionate eye of gods. Whichever faction comes out on top, Flaugungarðr plans to be beside them.

DURMSTRANG

What was once one of the proudest institutions in the world now fights for survival as it struggles to catch its breath in Grindelwald's clawed fist. Though initially sympathetic to his views, his bloody methods and lack of compromise began to make the palms of professors sweat. Now, recovering from its Second World War isolation and with Grindelwald's own Akademie stealing students (quite literally, if you believe the rumours) to churn out the next generation of eager soldiers, Durmstrang teeters ever closer to the edge of extinction. As it stands, it still teaches against his bloody violence - but those lessons have become ever more whispered, ever edgier, as his scythe sweeps closer and his rhetoric about pro-muggle propaganda grows ever more pointed.

VYŠŠÍ ÚČELOVÁ AKADEMIE

Vyssi Ucelova Akademie, affectionately referred to as Vyssi by its students and darkly as The Akademie by its detractors, is the latest and most insidious of Gellert Grindelwald's many weapons. An experiment in indoctrination, its students, sometimes forcibly taken from nonmagical parents, sometimes sent there on purpose by parents who believe in his cause, are educated to the highest possible standards in magic - and with the worst of propaganda against the nonmagical. Within these Brutalist Czech walls, it is not uncommon for children to be maimed as their professors relentlessly drill them on their magical abilities. A special class here is history of magic persecution: a detailed account of every different form of torture and murder used against magical folk throughout history. Many students who graduate from Vyssi will go on to become fighters in Grindelwald's army.

KOLDOVSTORETZ

In the heart of Siberia, shielded from the troubles of the muggle world, lives the mysterious and ancient Russian school of magic. Though historically Koldovstoretz has chosen to eschew connections with the outside world, its students sworn to secrecy about the glacial magic they learn within its walls, recent events have its ancient professors blinking the ice crystals away from their eyelashes and taking note. At the heart of Koldovstoretz a storm is brewing: it plucks students and families out from under Grindelwald, protecting children and adults alike in its hidden subterranean ice caves. In Russia the rebellion begins to be born - and in Koldovstoretz, a Resistance slowly wakes.

OTHER SCHOOLS

There are many other ancient and renowned schools of sorcery and witchcraft across the wizarding world. From elegant schools in Japan and China, to bastions of power across the African continent, to hidden halls across the Americas, to colourful institutes of the Middle East and India. Though we have focused primarily on Europe as it is the centre of the site conflict, we encourage bringing characters from all regions of the world and all kinds of educational backgrounds to the site - please don't feel limited to the above list. Harry Potter Originals; M// or F//

Back to the grindstone. My name is Jupiter, I'm 21, and I'm looking to roleplay original characters in the Harry Potter universe! I only write with people who are 18 or older, very preferably 20+ as well. I'm fine with side pairings of any gender combination, but I'd prefer the main pairing to either be M// or F//. I can shoot off replies a few times a week depending on my work schedule.

  My post length varies between novella or multiple paragraphs depending on what we agree on; if we don't write novella, my first few posts tend to be very lengthy as I ease into everything, and then it tapers into around 4-5 paragraphs or so. I won't write with anyone who writes less than three paragraphs; I'm not hyper stingy with length, I just value quantity and quality in relatively equal measure. It also kind of sucks when you write a huge post and only get a paragraph in response. Just tell me if you'd rather multi-p or novella. I write in third person, past tense but I can do present tense as well if that's what you prefer. Doubling tends to be my default (either two M// relationships, two F//, or one of each) but it's not required, so let me know off the bat if that's not what you usually stick with.

  OKAY! Christ, that's a lot to get off my chest right in the beginning. I'm not going to shove everything into little words to skirt under the 300 word limit because my thoughts are far too disjointed for that, but I'll list the ideas I've got as incentive to read on: modern wizarding world, Triwizard Tournament (but different), prophecies, mysteries, bigger things afoot? Wow! So interesting! More context under way if you're intrigued.

  AGAIN, THIS IS A HUGE AD. MY DEEPEST APOLOGIES.

  Other things to mention before getting into the meat of my ad and just dump all of my ideas in one spot. As a general rule I don't write anyone younger than 20, both because of the nature of my RPs and because it just feels weird to me to write about kids in school despite the fact that Hogwarts is pretty much the objectively best thing about the series' setting! So no students. I would, however, totally be down with writing professors in Hogwarts. I’m kind of itching for it, tbh? Could be fun. I’ve been mulling over a professor character, one from either Hogwarts or Beauxbaton.

  Smut is good, but like doubling, not required. It goes without saying that any and all characters will be adults, of course. My limits underage characters/pedophilia, incest, nonconsensual/dubious consent, bestiality, gore, mpreg, A/B/O, toilet kinks, sexual abuse, things of that ilk. I also only write vers characters in bed I've spent way too many years playing with partners who only play bottoms in smut scenes, so I'm all burnt out on that, man.

  I'm a very big pinterest user and extremely hooked on aesthetics, so moodboards are to be expected on my half. I think practically everyone who roleplays nowadays is a big fan of pinterest, at least from my experience haha. As for face claims, I do prefer to use them! It's strange, though — I was so fervently against them for so many years as a roleplayer since I've got such a clear idea of characters in my head that it's impossible to find an actor or model to fit the image, and it used to break my immersion in roleplays if I was writing against a particularly well-known actor or model (and it still does to a degree, I try to stay away from the main hollywood actors like Chris Evans haha), but now it helps ground me a little more for some reason? I feel more like it's a world of our own when I have a clear face to look on. In any case, as I said above, I prefer face claims, but I won't be upset if you'd prefer not to use them. Whatever you’re into is fine!

  Now! Onto the good stuff.

  I'd love to write a setting in modern times as opposed to the original late '90's, exploring how the wizarding world and wizarding laws have shifted with the advancement of muggle technology; I'd imagine it was much easier to keep magic under wraps before smartphones came into the equation. Maybe the wizarding world is under stress or extreme restriction due to this.

  A reinvented Triwzard Tournament would be extremely fun! Now, I know the tournament was banned after Harry's foray into it since Cedric was killed, but hear me out: maybe it's reconstructed due to the fact that the previous tournament went the way it did because of the whole Voldemort situation. I'd really prefer a tournament held between school alumni as opposed to students anyway, both because it just makes more sense with the nature of the game as well as the fact that it means we wouldn't have to be writing kids. Maybe even the professors to touch on the school pride while still keeping the heart of the games intact? Or something else completely, I'm just tossing out ideas. This is sort of the main thing I'm aiming for at the moment since I'd really love to write a tournament and it gives us a lot of freedom to work with different ideas/settings/situations.

  I like the idea of exploring lives post-Hogwarts since the main series doesn't really get into that (excluding Fantastic Beasts, which I can't stress enough how uninterested in I am. Similarly, I am VERY critical of the world-building JK's done with expanding the universe, particularly with how sloppily she handled other cultures and their relation with her lore and would rather adjust things for our own take, so keep that in mind before contacting me). The main series is mostly set in Hogwarts, so I'd love to do something to explore the Wizarding World as a whole.

  I do also like the idea of a muggle getting wrapped up in wizarding stuff for whatever reason. The main series establishes that there are at least SOME witches and wizards that coexist with muggles, at least enough to have kids that are half-bloods. And again, yeah, I guess the FBaWTFT series does touch on this, but I'd really love to have a regular muggle thrown into the main cast for whatever reason somehow. Maybe they've got a magical relative or something or wizards need a non-magical person for plot related reasons?

  Something to do with prophecies could be very interesting — after seeing all of those prophecies kept under lock in the Ministry (before they were destroyed, at least, lmao), it got me thinking of what the extent of prophecies were and if all of them were as severe as Harry's, or what another prophecy could be. It could be fun to explore something with our own characters in that vein?

  I enjoy serious/darker plots, so I'd like to have a bigger plot that our characters bleed into! I’m not looking for a more mundane or slice of life roleplay. We could throw all of these ideas in a bowl and see what comes from it. None of these thoughts of mine are a prerequisite for contacting me, however. If you've got an idea of your own, I would more than love to hear them.

WIZARDING VERSE.

SUMMARY

Also known as the verse where Jean-Luc LeBeau went hey, you know what though? My kid is all grown up. I'm adopting this one. I don't care if it's a Veela. You know what would be really funny too? I'm going to make this kid my heir to piss off all the other purebloods and probably send them to magic school too. What are they gonna do, question me? I'm rich. Or, the story of how Remy LeBeau tries very hard to get through wizarding school and has to dye his hair every three days, tries not to burst into flames, and is a little tired of having to wear a Beauxbatons uniform even on exchange to Hogwarts, as it involves a cravat and he can be summed up effectively as a French blueberry.

TIMELINE

Jean-Luc LeBeau visits a Veela community in Hungary, offering a trade deal for Veela-made trinkets to be sold in his establishment in order to provide the village a way to rebuild after damages sustained in the war. He does this through a member of the community he had adventured with in his younger years and who in good standing vouched for him; the deal is accepted and contract-writing begins in earnest. 

A few months into the agreement and on one of his visits, Jean-Luc witnesses his old friend’s daughter have an illegitimate child and attempt to pass it off to her mother, refusing to take responsibility for it. Adelaide is uncertain, and Jean-Luc offers a compromise, promising to take the child and raise it as his own, as his only son is now an adult and he has plenty of time and resources. Eventually the family agrees, and Jean-Luc takes the child back to France with him, calling in several favors with the Ministry in order to register the baby Athalie as an orphaned Muggle-born witch and adopt her* as his own, also placing a falsified Trace that will not react to any Veela-specific magical use. 

Jean-Luc promptly learns that Veela babies are rather volatile, and is forced to come up with many, many excuses as to why he is repairing numerous singed portions of his home, but dotes on his new daughter anyway.

At around the age of seven, the first signs of dysphoria and distress begin to emerge, and while Jean-Luc and Henri have no prior experience with these matters they encourage Remy to express himself as he pleases. Ministry records are altered again to reflect that he is male.

At age eleven, Remy enters Beauxbatons as a first-year student, as per his request. He makes the clear decision to remain in the wizarding world rather than return to a Veela community and in fact decides that he will take over the family business later, much to Jean-Luc’s delight, and is named heir to the LeBeau house. Having developed a complex routine to perform nonverbal magic but disguise it as best as possible by simply speaking spells in class and wearing a glamour to color his hair, Remy is able to start passing as a mediocre wizard. He keeps a cat named Oliver, who suffers the tragic fate of always wearing a very large bow round his neck.

In his third year, Remy becomes a Chaser for the Beauxbatons Quidditch team. He also hits puberty, resulting in natural Veela charm emerging and leading to more than a few awkward confessions from his classmates and silently confused male students.

At fifth year, Jean-Luc requests (and is granted) permission to allow Remy to study as an exchange at Hogwarts under premise of wanting him to be comfortable internationally with other wizards, as he will be running an international business. The length of his stay will vary according to interaction, but the default is set to one academic year.

Remy eventually scrapes by as a mediocre wizard with a specialty in potions and an odd proficiency for fire magic. After his graduation he takes over as proprietor of LeBeau’s Curiosities, with his older brother Henri taking care of finances and his father often running the shop while he travels seeking new inventory. His overall reputation is that he is very attractive, a bit odd, but pleasant, and while a few people may have their suspicions, they don’t attempt to pursue them. 

* Remy is referred to as female and birth name here as he is an actual baby and has not grown to an age where he can express his identity, and so this is what his father called him prior to that point, obviously.

ASIDES

Can be set in a few different time periods for convenience, but typically hovers at the end of the First Wizarding War, meaning Remy’s birth was ~1971.

The LeBeau family is, more or less, essentially French pureblood royalty in the wizarding world, having emigrated from Ethiopia about three centuries prior and in excellent community standing. This means that a - Remy’s adoption was an absolutely massive scandal, particularly because Jean-Luc claimed he was Muggle-born, and b - he is unfortunately quite used to attempts at matchmaking as the attractive heir to a very wealthy home. Part of the reason he decided to go to Hogwarts for a bit was to avoid the Boudreauxs’ pushing for an arranged marriage.

As a Veela, he has a few more struggles and a few less worries than your average wizard. For instance, most magical creatures will not attack him - he is perceived as very pretty and generally harmless to most of them. (Though by contrast some may wish to keep him, which can be equally problematic.) He also has an affinity for fire magic, and an unconscious charm that makes him rather appealing to most people. His dance and song, were he to exercise them, would be literally enchanting, so he doesn’t. He also has a very quick temper that he isn’t able to express without outing himself as a magical creature, and thus struggles to keep it in check, meaning sometimes he just storms off without explanation. He also tends to be excessively snarky because of this, as he’s generally on edge to at least some degree.

According to canon lore, Veela are predominantly biological female. One possible reason that they are so seductive to (particularly AMAB people of) other species may be due to this imbalance, which might have simply been the result of evolution through the years. Since they are already known to be compatible sexually with humans, it’s also reasonable to assume that they’re compatible sexually with most humanoids, possibly as an innate method of species preservation, whether or not it is exercised.

His hair grows quite quickly and dye doesn’t last long in it at all, but is more practical than expending energy on glamours constantly, so after his first year he simply learned to cut and dye his hair every few days. If he forgets to, silver-blonde roots may be visible and lead to questioning.

In order to have a passable wand at all, the family had to commission one made with Remy’s own hair as the core. (Ollivander would be horrified.) As a result he is somewhat able to channel through it, which helps him scrape by in spellcasting courses, but the scope of his natural abilities does not change and his affinities lie mainly in pyromanipulation and magic to do with appearance, though he is capable of other minor feats such as extremely basic telekinesis and some divination.

Remy has found that Muggle medical science does not appear to work on his physiology, and that any gender reassignment in magical terms is beyond his capability and his family’s, so it should be noted that he has not changed in body whatsoever and so just binds his chest and expresses as male, with glamours to reflect facial hair and the like later in his life.

LeBeau’s is a traveling magic shop that appears in set locations all over the globe without a set schedule (because Jean-Luc is petty and likes watching snooty aristocrats trip over themselves to buy the fancy things before he disappears again). It is known for having a knack at recovering lost family treasures, and does offer less powerful and pricey trinkets for more casual browsers, much to some patrons’ dismay. Locations include: Diagon Alley, a Moroccan market, the New Orleans vodun community, Hogsmeade, Paris, Cairo, and a few more.

Triwizard plotting is also available, with Remy either as a competitor or accompanying hopeful.
