IPKKND LIVE BLOG - Season 1 [Episode 1]

Sooooooooooooo, I thought of live blogging the show, coz I have not yet watched the whole series at one go. Yeah, I know that's a little weird, coz what the hell then how the fck do you call yourself a fan then see the thing is from the very first time I used to skip a lot of episodes in between of watching only the 'interesting ones' *cries*. I KNOW OKAY !?!?! I RUINED THE EXPERIENCE MYSELF BY HITTING A KULHARI IN MY OWN LEGS!?!!??! But how would I have known that I would be hooked to this show like this, like obsessively hooked, like what the fck. Okay, in some other post I will share my first impression of this show and my POV for ITV today(altho no one asked for it *presses a tight lipped smile*) Let's start the epi thennnnnnn, come onnnnnnnn.

Hmm. Lucknow. Gomti Sadan (Since 1943)

Buaji's very first 'Haye Re Nandkisore' makes an appearance.

"Arre Khussi ka mauka hai." Irony. I might be over analyzing it but this sounded like it's Khushi's chance today(at luck? at love?) maybe because today she will meet him for the first time. Also the next dialogue we hear is from a silhouette of Khushi.

Payal doubts their decision to negotiate this with 'jijaji'. Khushi is shown from the back. Then, eyes. Then, back. Then, eyes. Then, lips. Then, again eyes.

Buaji is in the mood to dance. Babuji is worried about the dowry, but one look at his Payalia smiling and now the only thing important for him is his daughter's happiness. I realized that I loved this scene. There's something special about a father beaming with joy on seeing his daughter smiling that makes him forget all about his worries.

Khushi tying her laces of the tennis shoes while looking down at the dance sequence going on.(What was that song, was it an OST? I couldn't find it anywhere) Tennis shoes. Hmm. we all had that same shoe for PT uniform.

Ads. Ads. ADS.

Khushi is revealed in full at the mandir in front of her best friend, Devi Maiyya.

'Maaf kijiye kaka ji abhi thodi si jaldi hai, baaki ki maafi laut kar maangte hain." Lol. Nothing. Just Khushi being herself for 10 seconds straight.

Dowry. 10 Lakh in cash and his shop papers for another 10. Babuji already doubtful (very rightfully so!) of the kind of family that they are getting Payal married into. Garima trying to erase those doubts by her sick 'excuses'.

Lol. Khushi, in a green and pink lehenga, driving a scooter having milk canisters attached to it, and guess what, everyone, literally EVERYONE, in the road is staring at her. Ughhh. Girls facing eve-teasing in India, unfortunately a very common thing.

A cute scene is here, guys. Like wow. Look at her excuse. She is going to school for a drama competition looking like princess. "Then where is your prince?", asks that kucchi-mucchi kid(yeah I feel like pulling his cheeks.)

Khushi looks up, to the kid, at the question ANDDDDDDDDDDD FINALLY GUYSSSSSSSS.

The bg score changes to an-introductory?-'important?'- instrumental. And there comes the first scene of Sobti flying in, in a helicopter. Lol. I remember an interview where he said this that he still remembers that first scene, and later getting demoted to SUVs. Lol.

Anyways, homies. Get ready. Drone shot of Lucknow and then-

UGHHHHHHHH. ADS. HOTSTAR WHAT IS THIS BEHAVIOR!?!?!!?

Sheesh Mahal.

There aren't even enough guards to stop the media from running further towards the helipad. They can easily do so but- maybe they were given a warning for not crossing a line. Who knows? *shrugs*

ASR revealed. His ASR BG playing in its full bloom. Full bloom. Lol. Does that even make sense? I hope it does.

Is it only me or anyone else also feels that there is a huge distance between where Bitwa is standing and where the reporters are? *shrugs*

Btw he seems like he does not even give a fck to what they are saying.

We get a glimpse of Arnav's traumatic past. And the scene cuts to Arnav getting jolted out by-a Dove?- Coincidence? I think not. Dove is a symbol of peace. Metaphor playing at its best. As today he will also meet the person who will become his solace for forever.

Also, that transition from Arnav to ASR. Take a bow, Mr. Sobti. *bows down with joined hands*

Chachaji. Epitome of Hypocrisy. Talking about morals. Arnav's face is like 'Just shut the fck up, chachaji.'

Here, chachaji thought he would be getting the money. But, to clear his doubt, Arnav shuts the suitcase and passes it to Khan Saheb, indicating the opposite.

Arnav's first dialogue.

He said two lines, here. I think the first line clears the air for chachaji that things are serious, and the second line was a hint given to him to realise who he is dealing with, that is, his late brother's son. Arnav hinted at his greed for money and property. But, for him money is his occupation, his business. "Paisa mera shauk nahi, pesha hai." But, unsurprisingly chachaji did not get it.

Khan Saheb reveals that he has sold the Sheesh Mahal to Raizada Sa'ab. Chachaji's face is worth looking at.

D-dddd-did you see the contrast in their opinions about zameer, asul aur paisa....???? My goshhhhh. Like they are exact opposite, poles apart.

Okay a little glossary here : Zameer- conscience Asul(or usul, both are the same, only accent is different)- morals paisa- money

He finally let his chachaji know who he is. Lol. Look at his (chachaji's) face.

Fashion Show.

The first two models walk in with ASR. The right one's dress was fine, but. Umm. Look at the left one. They simply took a red dress and stitched a net dupatta to it. wOw. fAsHiOn. And this is nothing. There's more to come. Just wait till ASR's introduction speech is over.

Raizada Show, the biggest annual show. Collection name was- Sonar?- can anyone decode it? Why did Sobti had to mumble it?

Arnav is saying that he has already moved on long ago while getting teary eyed about getting reminded of his past. The most painful scene. No, bitwa you haven't moved on you have just suppressed all your emotions under this tight lid called 'ASR'.

Every one at Gomti Sadan is worried about Khushi and the papers' absence.

It took Khushi almost the whole day to reach Sheesh Mahal. Arnav what is this behaviour??? Why didn't you send a car for your wife?? Heh. Lol. JK.

Khushi proves that she is a child trapped in a body of a late teen here. Lol. Look at her. "Bhool bhoolaiya, chale hai paiya, raah bata do mori maiyya, aaj batado humko rasta, tumhe khila dun puri khasta." while turning round and round for the hint of the correct 'direction'. And Devi Maiyya directed her straight to her prince.

Tears pooling in her eyes, lips taking devi maiyya's name continuously, closes her eyes. Khushi has absolutely no idea what is she expected to do. She is just standing and waiting for something to happen.

This sequence is the eye sequence. You might already know the symbolization. Khushi closed her eyes for strength and support just as Arnav opened his to open a new chapter of his life.

Arnav is quite shocked and angry as well. And then the famous fall and catch happens.

Here, Arnav, on getting a close up of Khushi's face, kind of likes what he sees. Guys, Khushi's fingers clutching on Arnav's collar is just- *takes a deep breath and starts hyperventilating*

He looks at the eyes. Hazel brown. Then, looks down at the lips. Pink gloss. Shiny. Trembling. Back to the eyes. quite the same rhythm that they followed while introducing Khushi.

The Aesthetic of the scene is so beautiful. Arnav's face, Khushi's face, them in an intense eye lock along with the Golden lights and sparkles in the background. Khushi taking a look at his lips in turn. *sighs dreamily*

Screen fades. Precap starts. *quickly pauses it* I am not a huge fan of spoilers so I generally don't watch them.

P.S.: Okay so the other dresses weren't that bad. I am sorry I doubted your skilz, bitwa. You are bhery talonted.

RANDOM THOUGHTS: Big Dragon ep. 1 (rewatch)

Since my rewatches may contain spoilers, I’m putting my random thoughts after the “Read More” link.

The first (and only) time I watched this series was in July last year, but I recently felt the urge to rewatch it because I’m excited for Mos and Bank to come out with their new series (hopefully) soon. And here I am.

I must say that I can’t remember all that much about the plot other than Bank’s character wanting to renovate his bar and Mos’ character doing it, that they can’t stand each other from the start, and the fuckery (who would forget that?). I also remember the iconic intro song since I have it on a playlist of my favorite OSTs. But other than that, it’s almost as if I’m watching this with new and fresh eyes. Let’s get into it!

I must say that this is an iconic start, starting with Mangkorn being arrogant about their sex tape (which I remember was Yai’s idea at first to get back at Mangkorn) and using it to his own advantage. And then the pettiness, telling Yai he won’t be able to forget about that night. Iconic.

Also, I must say I love shows that start with the messiness to get you hooked, and then show what leads up to the messiness. Together With Me with Max and Tul was just the same (with an even more iconic opening scene, btw).

How could I forget the legend?! That was a really beautiful sequence, btw. The colors, the fireworks, the dramatic music, Mangkorn and Yai staring at each other, the drums, everything.

Both of them are hooking up with girls at the start of this.

Interestingly, Mangkorn is wearing red while Yai is wearing green. Red and green are contrasting colors (opposite each other on the color wheel). Contrasting colors, when used together, usually make a bold statement that pops. They also complement each other well (the opposite colors on the color wheel are called both contrasting and complementary). If that isn’t a description of both Mangkorn and Yai and their relationship, I don’t know what is.

And now the iconic intro! Thank heaven this series never had the usual cutesy intro that A LOT of QLs (particularly Thai BLs) have. This dramatic song fits this series like a glove (or a condom?).

How could I forget that Big was in this? Also, now I know where I’d seen Jong and the set assistant in City of Stars before.

And on the note of the other actors in this series, I just saw Jet whom I’ve recently seen in DFF. I had completely forgotten he was in this one.

So, Yai is interested in Arjo. I’d forgotten about that.

The way people were screaming and applauding as Mangkorn entered the building… No wonder he gets under Yai’s skin.

That’s one huge ass bathtub. Or a tiny pool. Depends on how you look at it.

I’m in love with Yai’s home, though. All the geometry and straight lines, the dark colors, the play with reflections on all the glass and reflective surfaces, and the view, let’s not forget the view.

I don’t believe in talent (as in talent being the only thing needed for success). I’m sure Mangkorn worked his ass off to get to a point where he received that reward.

I can’t remember what kind of relationship Mangkorn and Arjo have. Are they friends, senior and junior, related?

If I remember correctly, something happens between the bodyguards, right?

Sunrise Pub & Bar. That neon sign was pretty.

Ooh, more dark interiors and straight lines. And the way they shot that scene of Yai walking into Sunrise from behind the bar was beautiful.

This spoiled bitch did not just hang up on his dad by snapping the laptop shut. The. Way. I. Cackled.

I’d forgotten the bodyguards were dumbasses. And since they’re dumbasses, I can’t wait to get to know them all over again.

Watching this series as if it were my first time all over again is such a privilege.

Why is Park so pretty?

Triangle drama.

The fact that they’re sitting there in RGB colors is just too funny to me. Mangkorn in red, Yai in green, and Arjo in blue.

Park and Pong are so dumb. I love them!

This whole situation with drugging people and setting up a camera to film the SA is just fucked up. It scares me even to think how often this happens in real life.

Their chemistry is chemistrying, though.

Btw, who has a bedroom in a bar? That’s right, Yai does.

I’m so happy to be watching this again. There’s a lot I’ve forgotten, but I’m happy that I get a second chance at watching this like it’s my first time again.

SORRY i keep coming here to yell !! you got me thinking about cdramas (& t dramas) i enjoyed and then forgot about :"] i watched 如果奔跑是我的人生 earlier this year and the ending lost me, but i was quite captivated by its 20+ episodes before. it centres around parental relationships (asian) and, i don't know much about dance at all but a main character is a dancer and her story made me feel things. the performances were sick, in my unprofessional opinion! I'm Fine is a gorgeous ost track. btw.... i've started rewatching 不良执念清除师 again and i CANNOT RECOMMEND IT HIGHLY ENOUGH. i've been thinking about it (on ep 5 LOL) and i actually don't think the ending dropped the thread or ball or 链子 or however that saying goes (im fever SORRY.... i think it was cathartic and beautiful in the way a galaxy is— i just could not get enough of those guys T__T 不良执念清除师 is about sulky teen (??) guys moving through the world with so much heart. it's about LOVE and ART and how the living go on after tragedy, it's about how. how (PARDON ME....) we get to keep everything we've ever loved for even a fraction of a moment & what we are doing is worthwhile even if it is very small !!!!! it is a show that is, in Voice from IMBD's words, an outstanding Taiwanese drama that excels in every aspect, because it was made with so much care and love...(meta!) also, gay people

(tangent incoming) this movie Shook the secondary 2 scene in singapore when it came out everyone and their dog was sobbing about it and i listened to 小幸运 Religiously despite never seeing it myself. Having Seen It Now, it is a sweet little thing and it makes me feel desperately old. it also made me CRY, what can i say i’m a sucker for distances and ships passing in the night and i was soooo happy when liudehua appeared and then adult xutaiyu showed up and he Fuck Ass Hair. my lord, his hair looked like SHIT. PICKLED SEAWEED……… i couldn’t cry after that because i was so busy clenching my asscheeks out of sheer despair FUCK HAIR AND. AND!!! A TOO SHORT BLACK BLAZER ON SKINNY JEANS??? I MEAN REALLY??? I KNOW 2015 WAS NINE YEARS AGO but i don’t recall fuckass hair being the in thing then…. this memory i do not have…. you have to understand how emotionally devastating this was to me…… (tangent end)

just finished the first episode and mein gott yiyong is such a Teenager…… man i look at 18 year olds and i’m like i don’t remember being like that but i Know i must’ve been, once upon a time. but the range of emotions the script wrung out of him in one episode was kind of insane and his actor is kind of vibey as hell (perhaps this is my sign from god to finally watch your name engraved herein…) and vivian sung is still epic as hell and sooo goofy and i’m excited! i think of u in my head for some reason as the epic tight as hell short chinese dramas anon, i Trust your eyes. they’re good eyes. i’ve also locked down the first 20+ episodes of the other drama you mention here, especially because yang chao yue is in it and she was Breathtaking in the double T T T thank you for the recs! where do you find all of these? i don’t know but you must be doing good out in the world. be well anon. meet a chicken

I literally open the app and refresh your page because I can't wait. I'm so happy that you came back and decided to continue this fucking amazing story. 10/10

BTW, if you do watch any kdramas which OST do you think would fit DTD? The song I have in mind is Still Love You by Lee Hong Ki and Yoo Hwe Seung. It's not from a drama but the lyrics fit Rin so much.

JULY

Trying to return to reading stuff on the apps daily has failed rather miserably

and keeping up online serialized chapter releases continues to be a mess. For some I've by now given up, as I buy them anyway...

This month started with Tearmoon Empire and I was thinking surely this month was gonna become the Tearmoon-month, but then... distractions happened

By the end of the month, it consisted pretty much just of last minute JNC catchup readings... which actually have proven I can still read fairly fast, but organizing those readings is a mess beyond description.

Notes:

Tearmoon Empire v1-4 - I really thought at the beginning this month was just simply going to be a Teamoon month than then this whole post could just be summarized with a 'Sweet Moons!" – Btw, those moon expressions really are nice. I kinda want to adopt them, but then Mia is Mia and apparently all the other Moon families of Etoile aren't…. Much more brainy, either. How to be torn! Anyway. I kinda expected a cute girls doing cute stuff comedy, which is actually still is, but then it also starts surprisingly brutal with the execution and the whole depiction that Mia legit does have more than a few little and big traumas, but at the same time (maybe because she is a bit daft after all) still manages to get on her feet and try to get life in order pretty darn helluva well. That's some strength that kinda gets underestimated, maybe even most by the narrator who really can't leave a chance out to diss this character. (By v4 said narrator kinda starts to feel a bit mean spirited.) And maybe it's not even all her own quality - after all in part it's because she bluffed so much she now has no choice but to actually become more like her bluff. But v2 thematizes the idea of self betterment, forgiveness of flaws and mistakes so well, I felt like this was totally fluff, but tucked behind the most tsundere veil ever. This series is like the diagonally opposite of Livid Lady (which I'd like to call the anti-fluff), where no one gave the MC any sympathy for her efforts, which causes an escalation of demise and no mercy. Mia's self betterment however ultimately springs out of Ludwig honoring her will and effort to at least try and Anne's sympathy to give her at least a token of humanity until the very end, which then is the seed to cause snowballing not downwards, but upwards. That's just such a bright, positive note to capitalize on.

That being said, I was surprised how quickly the first arc wrapped up with just two volumes. It could have well held on more volumes before the guillotine danger vanished. And then v3 pulled a Sailor Moon Dark Moon arc. Except that this series' Chibi-Usa equivalent is a bit less obnoxious to start with. Somehow the arc seems a bit more weak in terms of its plot pull, but also it seems like a build up to some more stuff building up on it, and so I'm curious what twists it may walk to. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it managed to surpass volume 2.

Brunhild v3 - Its events take place some 100 years after v2 and still a long long ago before v1 (which so far definitely is still the least interesting volume of the series). But I am quite taken with multi-generational stories and how one life's course affects some others later on even when they are long past and gone. As such, v1 does get some more bonus points in retrospect, but the memory of it being a bit of a slog unfortunately remains. v3 was cool to have another strong female protagonist, but somehow lacked any bigger twist that v2 still had. Maybe that's because Krimhild really only gets some agency much later on.

Fushi no Kami v1: Good heavens, this volume is dragging on forever. 87% in. Unfortunately, right in the middle of a Maika part. I'm half considering skipping paragraphs. The world building around the overarching lore of the ancient civilization and their writings and books still remains interesting, but it's really at the back burner of the plot right now. And every single Maika part just. Argh, I'm really not interested in your cheese PoV...

I Parry Everything: What Do You Mean I’m the Strongest? I’m Not Even an Adventurer Yet! (Light Novel) v1-5 - This was a complete surprise. I expected some generic OP power fantasy thingy, but then it was all about misunderstandings, and they seemed to be on Tearmoon levels, while not being half as funny and hilarious, which I half thought was a bit disappointing. After another volume I figured, this series just works from differently and I had to look from a completely opposite angle: it isn't a comedy and satire on the forefront, but more action and badassery. But both have in common that every character suffers the Mia-bug equivalent of this series and there is an escalation ladder which prompts everyone to be coaxed into self-betterment. That's a nice thing.

And despite being rather OP the MC still isn't a Gary Sue and has to spend effort and isn't always saving the day on his own. Meanwhile, secondary female MC definitely got some real elegantly cool looking spotlight.

Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? v11-12 - I, uh, accidentally skipped v10 after only reading 30 pages of it. The most baffling thing is, it…. did not even really feel needed. Of course v10 appears to have changed a few things considerably, but they were so considerable, they were shown and explained in v11 again anyway. That being said. V11 felt like quite the complete slog as well. By the end, I was probably more skim reading than not…

The Disabled Tyrant's Beloved Pet Fish v1 - Oh my. I will say the situational comedy aspect of this is quite stellar. It does come up with the wildest absurd ideas (tho the biting the jewel bit is a bit facepalm.) That and the short chapter do prompt me to read on as it goes, but it feels a bit like the instant gratification feedback you get from, say, playing Tetris. So far I read until the half line of v1. While I can feel this slightly addictive feeling while reading, as soon as I put the book down, overall, I can't say I am very wowed. I think this stems most from the fact that the MC is kinda…. bland? That is to say, it's like he has personality, but no character. Despite everything being narrated from his PoV the reader has rather little insight to his background, his past, his weaknesses, strength, personal motivations, how clever or not he is, stances or even what his opinion of the characters of this world, which he knows from the novel he read, is. And that's… weird. Second MC is known as a to-be-tyrant to him, he knows his past, present and future, and you'd think that should have colored some sort of opinion and stance, but he appears to be strangely indifferent to him, aside of primary instincts and that his life kinda depends on him. But maybe that impression is still too preliminary? Will see.

Also soweit erstmal: Es ist unterhaltsam, aber ich glaube, wenn das einfach nur so weitergeht und nicht irgendwann noch ordentlich ernst für Tiefe wird irgendwie wird es bei mir nicht richtig zünden. Aktuell fehlt tatsächlich was ziemlich sehr: MC hat wenig Charakter. Also er hat Persönlichkeit, aber irgendwie… keinen Charakter. (Falls das irgendwie Sinn macht.) Dazu gehört u.a. auch Hintergrund zu seiner Person oder Motivationen im Leben und so Sachen. Man weiß ja mal so gar nichts aus seinem früheren Leben, und auch so wie er handelt, macht keinerlei Implikationen, was für eine Art Leben er geführt haben muss (abgesehen, dass er einem Kommentar nach halt aus PRC China kommt.) Sämtliche Handlungen bislang sind auch weniger eigene Motivationen, als Motivationen durchs System. So lustig und trollig das System auch sein mag (soweit eine interessantere Version von dem System in Wiedergeburt als Schleim) und zumindest etwas Anhaltspunkte gibt, an dem er sich entlanghangeln kann, damit es überhaupt einen Handlungsstrang hat - Es nimmt ihm auch die Agency weg. Was halt irgendwie nochmal gar nicht hilft, dass er eigenen Charakter zeigen kann. So wie er sich benimmt, Reaktionen und Gedanken und so die Art erinnert er mich auch etwas an Mia aus Tearmoon, aber gerade bei Ihr wurde gleich am Anfang Hintergrund, und neben Persönlichkeit auch schnell Charakter etabliert. Sie ist keine Leuchte, sie ist ziemlich selbst bezogen, faul, fehlgeleitet, eitel, denkt nicht weit, aber kann durchaus ihr Bestes geben, wenn die notwendige Motivation da ist, oder lernfähig sein, wenn es sein muss (i.e. triftige Gründe fürs Überlegen) und letztlich ist sie zwar egoistisch und ihre Handlungsmotivationen in den meisten Fällen fragwürdig, aber sie hat kein wirklich schlechtes Herz, das Treue und gute Taten anderer nicht wertschätzen kann. Und es ist auch direkt mit einigen griffigen Ereignissen klargemacht worden, warum sie so ist.

Das fehlt mir hier etwas sehr. Also, ja, er will halt nicht als Fisch krepieren, aber jenseits davon… Was treibt ihn eigentlich so als Figur, Charakter selbst an?

Das andere was mir jetzt auch etwas, uh? ist, hängt wohl damit zusammen (und dass es letztlich ein BL ist). Einige Reaktionen sind für mich eher ??? Dass er kann nicht aufhören kann mal zu erwähnen, dass der Prinz sehr hübsch ist, ist ja noch kein Ding. Aber dass der dann gleich so überreagiert, weil er an seine Haut kommt und er nackt ist, äh. Hat der im letzten Leben nie in einer Umkleide oder so andere Kerle gesehen? Oder hat der schon immer so reagiert? Weiß nicht, sind auch nur Kleinigkeiten, die kommen mir irgendwie nicht so natürlich nachvollziehbar rüber. Und dass es dann jetzt schon eskaliert in Richtung schlüpfrigen Humor, also ja, es ist BL und schon irgendwie klar, sie landen wohl noch im Bett am Ende, aber mag es dann doch eher, wenn das natürlich für den Charakter von MC und ML läuft und nicht, ja weil Plotchecklist.

Und allgemein denkt er irgendwie nicht so viel nach. Wie ist der hier hergekommen? Scheint ja nur einfach beim Lesen eingeschlafen zu sein, mal kein Truck-kun o.ä. Aber dann auch: keine Gedanken, dass er abgesehen von wieder Mensch werden zurück in seine Zeit/Welt will? Der hinterfragt auch null das Moe Pet System. Und wäre ja eine Sache, wenn es einfach zu seinem Charakter gehöre nicht weit denken zu können, aber irgendwie…. fehlt da was, das griffig einen Grund impliziert. Und auch grad, wenn der die WN von der Welt schon kennt, der kennt den Prinzen ja schon, und das Wissen poppt hier und da mal raus, und wird mehrfach betont, er kennt den Plot. Aber dafür, dass er ihn so gut kennt, lässt er irgendwie keine Meinung zu ihm als Figur je anmerken. War das seine Lieblingsfigur? Fand er ihn furchtbar? ….? Sowas müsste doch eigentlich seine Interaktionen und Reaktionen prägen. Und er hat im letzten Leben wohl WNs gelesen, ist der dann ein Otaku von? Kennt der die ganzen Tropes? Oder nur Gelegenheitsleser? Das müsste sich doch auch in seiner Haltung dazu, dass er jetzt in einem WN Plot gelandet ist (mit einem Game-style System) widerspiegeln wie Genre-savvy oder nicht der ist, aber bislang auch Niente.

Also kann alles ja noch kommen, aber bislang sieht es von der Art her nicht so ganz danach aus, da es noch nicht wirklich einen Vorbau gibt/"Samen" gesäht wurden.

vTuber Legend: How I Went Viral after Forgetting to Turn Off My Stream v1 – … the premise is interesting. It felt like a walk out of the comfort zone to test this one out, and maybe it was too far out. In any case, I cannot console myself with how this just celebrates the booze a bit too much. And it's not even like she has the immunity and can drink the stuff like it's water.

((classified)) - Which is not quite the case over here for some characters. You can even play bingo games here for how often something alcoholic appears and they drink it like water or juice. Not much more to say yet than that the MC gives me more and more aroace vibes and there was even a scene that was almost made me grovel and flop down on the table facedown, because it hit a bit too close to home. But it's kinda nice to see how the MC is having people supportive to them and also in way it's feeling like being earned.

Doukyusei v1 - It. Uh. Now this one is very famed and acclaimed and everything and I have read some Asumiko Nakamura before and I also do not dislike her style. But this one, kind of. I went out, and it's just leaving any impression whatsoever in my memory? Which is weird, the covers by themselves are quite memorable somehow, but anything inside did not want to stick around whatsoever.

Story of Yanxi Palace #1-8: Over all the dance choreographies I watched of the 浮光 song (I babbled over that last month) youtube decided to throw me a dance performance clip of The Legend of Haolan over. Which had Haolan be misnamed as Yinluo. Haolan and Yinluo share the same actress, but the latter is the MC from Yanxi Palace, and then youtube decided to bombard me with clips of this series. All over the place out of order, and I probably have watched half of the show this way already, so figured could just start actually watching the thing from the beginning. And Yinluo is just so darn great of a strong, witty, quick brained and clever character. The show, aside from being full of pretty props, a very interconnected cast and plot also knows how to be funny to offset some of all the drama, death and broken hearts. And from the clips it seems like it's also a good example of how a person can love two people simultaneous, even if in different ways. And most importantly, how that that love stuff is not controlling her life. Integrity and purpose far supersede it. And she has the wits and later the means and power to stand her ground over it. And moreover, she is not above using dirty and bloody methods, but she stands firm at being what she is and who she is, and what her values are, so her character remains very true to herself. That's something really hard to pull off in life. She is quite the awesome character~

Some German describing (fangirling?) over her: Sie hat Grips, kann schnell und flexibel auf alles das ihr entgegen kommt reagieren, hat allgemein einiges drauf, kein Angebertum, aber sie macht das, was sie kann auch nicht klein. Hat keine Hemmungen ihre Meinung zu geigen, aber auch genug Menschenkenntnis zu wissen, wann man das machen kann oder nicht sollte, scheut sich nicht die Hände dreckig zu machen wenn nötig, aber wenn nichts und niemand sie zum Handeln nötigt, dann lebt sie ein friedliches, hilfsbereites Leben.

Which really. Actually. Is the exactly same description you could just as as hang onto Maomao from The Apothecary Diaries. (Except that Maomao has her poison antics in addition and really gives some big aroace-moods as of LN v2 to me.)

看 (電視劇《延禧攻略》主題曲): The opening song of Story of Yanxi Palace. As the OP it's pretty much got no vocals beyond the reciting of that poem at the end, which I still wonder if it's some classic poetry or specifically of this show. The full version features some lyrics, and they are quite nice, too. The opening visuals additionally are quite great and being atmospheric. What is astonishing is, that it's actually a whole bunch of stills with only kinda simple effects - the sort you frequently see in say Manga MADs or MMVs. And despite the simplicity of effects that kinda even look a bit cheap, it works. Really well. The direction and composition of the stills of the sequence definitely is eye catching. (Unfortunately the ED doesn't work as great. It also has the stills and effects, but inside is also a clip of the series itself, which is normal movement and kinda breaks the atmosphere completely for me.)

Other songs from the show's OST. You could also call these tracks the Yingluo-goes-badass tracks. Especially 反擊 is the Badass Yingluo comes, let's all have smug faces as watchers-theme.

张渠 - 玉人- Another track from some dance video yt foisted on me and it was nice to have in the playlist for a few days.

Zhou Shen - 触不可及 - Oh darn, this Engrish. But probably that made it so memorable, too. The melody is nice and the lyrics have a nice contemplative and kinda optimic note. The track was apparently the Chinese track to a movie, of which I have watch the first movie from a free years back. And at the time (and still) think, it is a good movie, but I really, really did not like the characters and some of the messages. So, just for having some fun and learn some sunlight in your life it's ok to speed on the highways or do prank calls to hospitals faking an emergency? I just can't get behind that. And knowing it's the theme song to it kinda soured me eventually on it. :/

Zhou Shen - 铃芽之旅 - The Chinese Version of the Theme Song of Suzume no Tojimari. I still haven't watched the movie, but I do like the JP version already, but I prefer the Chinese Version a whole lot more. Maybe it's because the voice is a bit lower than Toka's which this would imply:

RADWIMPS - Suzume (Suzume No Tojimari) [Dante Levo and Kindred Remix] - I like this Version more than the original too and it's some remix that does some pitch manipulation that lowers the one from the original.

The rest was nicely repeatable and mainly served to balance and accompany the above in the playlist.

Idek if I’m supposed to directly respond or not but yknow what screw yall

1. My School President (bl drama) - the fixation for the next few months I presume. Very specific because I live vicariously through tinngun. All encompassing btw, includes ost, acting, characters, all the way to fanfics, edit, etc

2. Stray Kids and Tomorrow X Together - both groups mean so much to me, they’re music have helped me through my roughest moments and they still do. I love watching their content and just seeing their smiles really can do wonders for my day. I’m so grateful to have been able to see SKZ live

3. Cloudy days - not very cloudy days, just when there’s like white puffs in the sky, idk why. It just helps seeing the sky sometimes. Helps me feel like the world won’t fall apart just yet.

4. My Taeyong shirt and Heart print pants - I have shirt that has baby taeyong on it and jeans with heart prints on them. this fit gives me serotonin for some reason. No I will not elaborate.

5. Plushie Collection - though I don’t take care of them as much as I used to, I still love all of them with my whole heart. I don’t have room on my table so they’re scattered everywhere. My most recent addition is a is a raccoon plush with a rainbow tail, but I plan to get a new one on Friday.

FIRST SHIP

Ever? Hmm, before Pacey and Joey it was Anne and Gilbert from the Anne of Green Gables series (books AND Kevin Sullivan’s tv adaptation from the mid-1980s). Gilbert Blythe was my first crush. Anne and Gil’s relationship taught my younger and impressionable self that love was friendship caught on fire and to never settle for anything less; that you can fall both slowly and ardently. Gilbert and Anne set the goalpost for all my future ships, with Gilbert proving that sometimes the nice guy does get the girl.

Also, I cannot imagine a more picturesque backdrop to fall in love in than Prince Edward Island. It’s on my bucket list to visit.

LAST SONG

I’ve been listening to a lot of K-Drama OST lately. I usually have one song on loop for weeks until it wears itself out on my spotify. Last month it was “With You” by Jimin and Ha Sung Woon from Our Blues (fantastic drama btw, I ugly cried in nearly every episode). This week it’s “Goodbye” by WENDY from The Beauty Inside.

LAST MOVIE

I’m embarrassed to admit this, but just yesterday I rewatched Leap Year on Netflix. I shamefully also own the DVD. Gah, *hides face* don’t look at me. 

It’s a cheesy, clichéd, and improbable romcom about an American who impulsively follows her boyfriend to Ireland to propose to him on February 29th. Cue the endless mishaps and series of incredibly manufactured bad luck. She ends up falling instead for the stranger who helps her on the way. The script is silly and absurdly unrealistic, but damn if the chemistry and charm of the two leads doesn’t save the day. 

My favorite scene is when Matthew Goode’s ‘Declan’ wakes up alone on a bus stop bench and realizes that Amy Adam’s ‘Anna’ has left him without waking him to say goodbye. The disappointment and regret in his body language is so palpable that Anna who is standing behind him watching, feels every ounce of his turmoil. She studies him for a beat before breaking the moment with banter. And damn, Matthew conveyed all this just by the way he stands and very subtly slumps his shoulders in defeat. And Anna’s reaction to seeing him this way is just...so telling that you want to shake her and say c’mon girl, you’re chasing the wrong guy. 

It doesn’t hurt that this era of young Matthew Goode is totally my aesthetic. Just look at him. Add to all this the brogue-y accent and WOOF.

I consume written media the same way I consume music and shows. I devour it. I practically subsist on Ao3 content alone. Lately, it’s been a lot of Red, White & Royal Blue fics in anticipation and giddiness for the upcoming movie.

CURRENTLY WATCHING

I’m in the middle of season 2 of my annual West Wing binge-watch. I’m by no means into politics, but I have yet to discover better American television than Aaron Sorkin’s The West Wing. It’s nearly perfect in its execution.

Currently waiting on a lot of shows to finish airing so that I can binge watch (I’m not making the mistake I did with Bad Buddy by watching it every week, I nearly died). On my list:

now that cang lan jue is over what am i gonna do with my life? because trust me this show was the ONLY thing that kept me breathing and stay afloat all throughout the month of august. this month has been making me deal with all kinds of bad lucks from health to studies to my mental health. thankfully cang lan jue came in right on the eve of august and lit up the path to september with its end. 

one of the most visually enticing cdrama or rather show of all time. my vfx brain just went WHOOSHHHH every time any scene packed with cgi would pop up. the power-packed plot, the tenderness, the colours, the costumes, the accessories, the osts, the acting, the dialogue, the range of characters and their own goals, determination and development UGH WHERE DO I EVEN START AND FINISH?!

i don’t necessarily watch xianxias bc it doesn’t sort of interest me but i was very drawn to the visuals and partly bc of zhang linghe (discovered him during the tgcf la shooting where he is set to play hua cheng & have watched 80% of his shows till now) and a littttttle bit bc of dylan although i wasn’t much convinced with the latter one’s acting skills. i loved him in the rational life (which btw is such a good drama you guys really need to watch it + it’s modern setting so normal clothes!dylan and bit of an age gap so be aware hehe) but i wasn’t convinced with miss the dragon (and no, i have not watched meteor garden, actually, i haven’t watched any of the og manga’s adaptations. not a big fan of bully to lover trope).

thankfully i would say the director REALLY brought out all the goodness hidden in dylan and made him shine so dashingly bright in the show all through out. like watching him was drinking the elixir of life. every time a scene ended with him in it, i was like more, give me more. as for esther, OH I LOVED HER. she was such a charmingly little flower. i missed her child-like self in the last few episodes. she was so strong willed and is a such a sweetheart. i love love love her. it makes me want to protect her. if anything, i’m now gonna look forward to more of esther in her new shows too!

definitely going to re-watch this show, like, i don’t really re-watch shows unless it really stays with me for a long, long time and i feel like this show is going to stay with me for a long time. the love in this show is not so easy to describe. it’s all about how i feel it through the screen. the production team, the post-production team and the writer of the original novel, THANK YOU. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Rant 1 - Goblin (K-drama)

WARNING: Spoilers for entire show

Ok so I noticed that I haven't been posting a lot since I read the Inheritance games, that's why I have decided to just post rants about stuff I've read/watched in the past. In this post, I’ll be talking about a Korean show named Guardian: The lonely and great god (otherwise known as Goblin)

Short summary before rant: The show basically follows a Goblin, who has been cursed to live forever, because of the people he killed (he was a soldier) with a sword in his chest. He can finally rest in peace when he finds his bride, who is the only person who can pull the sword out of his chest. There are sub-plots (which are IMPORTANT btw), around the rest of the characters in the picture, which ultimately link back to the Goblin's past.

To put it frankly....I love it.

Why?

Firstly, the START. Until like ep. 5 or afterwards, the show is filled with fluff, comedy, bromance, and pretty much everything one needs to want to keep watching. If that isn't smart af, idk what is. Like, imagine, a show that's so light-hearted and just stress-relieving to watch.

And then....

hell pays a visit. Things get complicated, and it just rips your heart open. First, Eun Tak runs away, then she finally comes, but now, the goblin has to get his sword pulled out, otherwise, Eun Tak will be in danger. Then she DOES pull out the sword and dies. Tell me that doesn't hurt. THEN, he comes back, but guess fucking what? No one remembers him, other than the grim reaper. So then he jogs Eun Tak's memory with a trip to Canada (and beef, cause she freaking loves it), THEN, SUNNY DIES. AND THEN EUN TAK DIES. But she gets reborn and she and goblin are together again.

ALSO, more sad moments:

- Grim reaper making Sunny forget him (but she remembers anyway)

- Goblin and Grim Reaper having a serious fight because they have history together (no, as in a VERY long time ago history, not, we've met before a few years back shit)

- EUN TAK TELLING GOBLIN IT'S OKAY WHEN SHE GOES TO HER NEXT LIFE

- GOBLIN DYING

- EUN TAK'S MOTHER DYING

- DEOK HWA'S GRANDFATHER DYING

- SUNNY DYING

Yeah...lots of death....remember when I said it was light-hearted at the start? That's probably because all this shit happens afterwards.

My favourite things:

- The dynamics. Euk Tak and Goblin? 👌. Goblin and Grim Reaper? 👌. Eun Tak and Grim Reaper? 👌. Grim Reaper and Sunny? 👌. Sunny and Eun Tak? 👌. Duk Hwa, Goblin and Grim Reaper? 👌. Eun Tak and Deok Hwa? 👌. You get the point. The characters all go SO WELL together. Like, I love the writers for doing that.

- Plot. Can we appreciate just how smart that plot is? Like, he wants to die. He finds her. They fall in love. He doesn't want to die. She will die if he doesn't die. He dies. She forgets him. He comes back. She dies. She gets reborn and remembers him. Tell me that isn't an amazing journey. And the side plots!! Like, Grim Reaper and Sunny! They are so cute! Honestly, if there was drama on them when Grim Reaper was king, I'd be so invested.

- The annoying ones. You know, that advisor guy and Eun Tak's aunt. They did SUCH A GOOD JOB writing them. It was so easy to despise them, and honestly, that's hard to do.

- Music. Have you listened to the OST?? Because it is so damn good! It doesn't have a single bad song.

Good OSTs so are hard to find and this one just tops them all. Anyway, this was my first Kdrama, so maybe I'm a bit biased but curse that, because this is good! At least compared to what I've watched so far. Imma just add some scenes from the show, because it is too good.

So yeah....that's my rant for today...I might do it again Monday or smth.

My Secret Romance

My Secret Romance is a 2017 drama that I just watched now. Lol. So this is about Cha Jin Wook and Lee Yoo Mi who had one night stand and meeting up three years later. SPOILERS UP AHEAD.

Lee Yoo Mi is a nutrionist who started working in Daebok Group. Cha Jin Wook is the heir of the Daebok Group. You know what happens next right? Of course they would meet. But not immediately. This happened three years after they shared one night together.

Well, this is drama has too much feels. Too much kilig, too much cuteness, too funny, and a little bit of annoyance. So it's the perfect drama for me. You can expect sweet kisses. Yes, I felt again the sweet kisses. You can see some cute kiligs whenever Jin Wook is smiling because of Yoo Mi. I also find it all their moments together cute. Even though sometimes, they made me cry, JUST MAKE UP WITH EACH OTHER PLEASE!!!! Jin Wook is also funny because of those slow-mo scenes when he's walking around a few people. Yes he's handsome but it's funny! It was also funny when he's trying to recreate his looks and some small stuff that has something to do when they spend the day (and night of course) together. Any, Yoo Mi is so strong, I admire her. Even though she's, I think, the clumsiest character I ever watched. I love how Yoo Mi can also be honest to her bestfriend, Jung Hyun Tae when he confessed. I love how Hyun Tae and Yoo Mi's relationship wasn't tarnished after he confessed. That's how it should work!!! Then we have Joo Hye Ri who's really annoying at the start but then she just really needs to find someone who would feel the same for her. It was so cute when she finally found someone for her. I find Secretary Jang always funny. He was indeed the best person to be beside Jin Wook. I also like her fling with one of the cooks. They were funny. THE OST ARE ALSO GOOD!!!!

My rating would be 9/10. To be exact, I don't think something is missing. Well maybe except for the fact that Chairman Cha wanted a grandchild that he can also post on sns. I even wanted to see that actually. Also, I wanted to see where Yoo Mi and Jin Wook would be together at Jin Wook's mother's restaurant. So, why isn't it perfect? Because why wouldn't these two confess at an earlier time? I mean, it's okay to break up, I just hope they had more time that they were officially dating. But not that I am complaining for all those kilig moments. I love it. Joo Hye Ri is right all time that hard to get people are annoying. Lol. Although there were fights between Yoo Mi and her Mom, I liked how her mom pushed Yoo Mi. Though whenever her mom opens her mouth, it's like a bomb. People may really judge about being an erotic actress or one night stand, but I have to agree on what Yoo Mi's mother said on her last interview. Also, I have to say, THERE WERE TOO MANY PEOPLE IN THIS DRAMA WHO WRRE ALSO IN THE DRAMA ONE PERCENT OF ANYTHING. Jeon Seo Min made a cameo, Jin wook's mother, the kitchen staffs (YES THE FOUR OF THEM), then Yoo Mi's mother actress friend. Also the guy host. If I missed someone I'm sorry. Even the drama one percent of anything was shown lol. This drama is recommended for people who wants to laugh, to cry, to be annoyed, and to feel love. Thumbs up! Oh btw, don't skip after you see those pictures like the episode has ended. Don't!!! There's still more lol watch it!
