Today marks three years since I released my debut novel Better With You. I have learned so many things about being a self published author since the release of my book. What I have learned: Hiring a book editor is a good decision. I didn't hire an editor until after my 2nd book "Fame You" was released. Editors have the magic to take our stories and give them more details. Readers want to be able to visiualize the scene in their head like a movie scene. I was guilty of not setting  scenes up with my first two books. Proofreaders: Authors can sometimes miss errors in their manuscripts (I have!) It doesn't make us bad authors. We can't catch every little mistake. It's nice to have a set of extra eyes to help catch the errors before the world gets to read our stories. Bloggers: Having people rave about your book before it comes out can help so much! It brings attention to readers out there. Bloggers can increase your pre-order sales and get your name out there. They are so helpful. Cheers to you, book bloggers! I've learned a lot these last three years when it comes to writng. Writing a series is more challenging than I  anticipated. It's hard going through all the characters and making sure everything adds up. On the plus side, I'm really enjoying writing this series.
