Hi i saw your post about Haru wo daiteita Winter cicidates and i desperately need to know about this.

Is this a new storyline? Alternative story?

Yesterday unfortunately found out about the ending of hwd alive and since that i am torn.

As this one seems to be published after "alive" this might ease my pain 🙏🏻😅 so I would ne very glad if you could answer me.

I am really in a shock about the ending of "alive" and just don t unerstand why Nitta did this because it was very unneccassary imo.

Maybe you can "save" me

It's more of her attempt at giving her fans closer but also a way to continue and connect the stories she told before in Fuyu no Semi and vol. 7-11 of this series with Iwaki and Katou.

Below is a link to the full English translation of the AFTER story. Nitta talked about how she played with the themes of reincarnation throughout the series on her twitter account and this story shows that but also other themes as well. (some of these themes that I'm not a personal fan of but were still hinted at throughout the series)

Reading this story did give me some closure but I was already at peace and content with the ending by the time the English translation had come out, but I do hope that reading it can put your anguishing heart at ease.

I'm going to pretend I don't know harudaki has ended. I can't acknowledge that awful ending. I can't accept my favourite manga -a love story about growing up together, facing everything as a couple, and learning to be in a healthy relationship- ended like that. I'm sorry, I can't cope. I prefer to remember haru wo daiteita as the journey of two soulmates that, at last, can be together, and be happy until the end of times. I don't care, for me Katou and Iwaki are in their home making dinner, I'm calling fanon discontinuity on this one.

BL WA DAISUKI DESU!!!! (headphones users - lower your volume because he was kinda loud! He was excited! ^^)

I was grinning the whole time while watching this BLFES2020 broadcast! When the Emperor asked: ‘BL wa suki desu ka’ - I was nodding furiously from across the screen hahaha ^_^;;

I was amazed that Happy Kuso Life got 3rd place for Best Manga! XD That’s awesome! ^__^  (the ranking was - from 5th to 1st:  25ji Akasaka de, Koi wo Suru Tsumori wa Nakatta, Happy Kuso Life, Old Fashioned Cupcake and Haru wo Daiteita ALIVE 6). 

Because Haru wo Daiteita won 1st place, the Emperor got to act out some scenes while they were playing on the big screen behind him. One of the scenes was quite R-rated so before it was shown and before he said his lines, he said ‘omatase shimashita’ xDD Everyone was laughing (I was preparing myself by lowering myself on my chair until I was half lying there ahaha I wasn’t ready). When it was over, he said to everyone: “you can open your eyes” LOL. And he said he wasn’t embarrassed at all doing that in front of everyone! XD (well, good for you, because I was lol). The narrator kept on going about him doing it live (nama) and he said: “please don’t say nama” lololol (if you know - you know. And if you read/listen to BL  - you know hahaha). 

I was just googling the other guy’s name, and realized he’s Shark in Noblesse! Well, the more you know lol.

I made this fanart of Haru wo Daiteita in 2004 when I started to paint seriously. 16 freaking years ago. It is almost 20 years since I first read this manga and made these two my favorite couple. But then, there’s that ending. I just can’t 💔���

In my mind, they're both still alive, sitting on a couch, eating dinner together while talking about their day, redecorating their house, or maybe holding hands while they're on vacation. And eventually they'll grow old together. That final chapter doesn't exist.

Hello, I read Haru wo daiteita, Alive and afterward, can I ask you what do you think of the relationship between Iwaki and Katou's nephew, Yousuke? I am quite confused,, because in Afterward they live together and they have very close bond, but for me Katou is irreplaceable.I really would like see what other people think about that

I personally found the idea of Yousuke living with Iwaki to be okay but it was the other things surrounding it that made me either uncomfortable or pissed off.

I honestly didn't like the inclusion of Shou and his boy toy. (I'm obvious not a fan of them) I didn't feel comfortable about Youka showing the pseudo pedophilia moment that occurred in the series (a moment that was a exclusive chapter for either ALIVE 2 or 3)

I don't think Youka was ever trying to replace Katou with Yousuke. I am making the assumption that he was always meant to represent the child that Iwaki ALWAYS wanted with Katou. That theme and symbolism is seen in the chapter that Yousuke is born and represented in through the special connection the two share. (Which could also be a hint to the reincarnation theme of the series)

The special connection can also be a reference to the special bond between Iwaki and Katou. Not focusing on the problematic factors to their relationship, especially in Afterward, Yousuke is meant to be Iwaki's anchor. Yousuke knows that he could never replace his uncle (the memory of him spending time with Katou) but also knows that Iwaki would never see him as such and would always see him as an extension of himself (family) and Katou. To the fandom, mostly, and me, Yousuke is Iwaki's baby more so than his own mother.

I could be wrong but, Iwaki either breaks the cycle or reinvents the cycle by continuing to live which leads to them meeting again in the afterlife. How I personally view it is by thinking of the finale of The Good Place. I won't spoil the show but Iwaki finding peace and meeting Katou again in the afterlife reminds me of that shows' finale.

In conclusion, Yousuke was never meant to replace Katou but a symbol for a hopeful future and better tomorrow and Iwaki's anchor. I hope this answers your question. 😅👋🏾🙏🏾

You know what makes me angry about this end? That if you wanted a tragic ending, you could, at least, reverse the end of Fuyu no Semi, so you have the relief, the comfort of the possibility of a future reincarnation. But nooooo, sensei HAD TO leave Katou's spirit without a partner and break the narrative of their romance. I am sorry to say this but Iwaki is not going to make it. Yeah maybe in the series we have a lot of moments where they talked about losing each other but all of them are also about Iwaki thinking he wouldn't stand living without Katou.

Yes maybe I'm writting this because I'm angry. In fact right now I would be happy to just forget HwD Alive exists. Nothing there is that appealing to me.

And I'm more angry because you can still say it "fits" the titles narrative: fuyu no semi and haru wo daiteita. They waited until the next spring, but spring is just a season, as 20 years are in a lifetime. Thanks I hate it.

unfortunately, our redrawer hasn’t read any of haru wo daiteita so if we were to pick it up, we’d probably only do summer cicada (since it can sort of be read on its own like a standalone, from what i’ve read?). i really would love for others to enjoy spare key too though, it gave me quite the amount of emotions haha
