There’s something very interesting about the Hook family in Descendants…

With all the lore surrounding descendants, the movies, the books, wicked world, etc, there’s a lot of talk about how no one on the isle are “friends”; they’re acquaintances, partners in crime, crew members— and then there’s the Hook siblings and their ride or die besties:

Personally I explain it by headcanoning that unlike the rest of the kids and their parents, Captain Hook and their mother actually were in love; therefore the Hook sibling have seen what it is to actually be in love and devoted to someone 😊🩵❤️

The VKs and Games

It doesn't matter what kind of games they like to play. It doesn't matter what kind of game it is. The very notion of a game is warped, for some of them.

The last time Harriet Hook played a game, it was in an attempt to keep her barely-out-of-toddlerhood siblings quiet and occupied as they crouched in a small dark place on the Jolly Roger and their father rampaged in a drunken rage.

The very idea of playing a game is completely foreign to Claudine Frollo. She genuinely has no idea what it is.

The only games Mal, Uma, Evie, Ginny Gothel, and anyone else with fairy or witch blood have experience with are word games, riddles, where one misspoken word costs you a lot more than the game. They are experts in wording things very carefully and finding loopholes.

The only games Freddie and Celia Facilier have ever played are card games. And they're always for something, even something small and useless. Games are never for free.

When Carlos was younger, Cruella sometimes played a game with him. Usually it involved Carlos having to pretend to be a puppy and Cruella hitting him with her cane if he forgot.

None of them actually sleeps in. Ginny has nothing resembling a sleep schedule, Anthony is more or less forced to get up at unreasonably early hour (for the Isle anyway) by his grandmother, and as for Harriet. More fitting descriptor most morning would be "she didn't go to sleep yet".

Who's more likely to cry about a plant dying?

...Ginny. Anthony and Harriet do not have emotional capacity for that. If they're crying over a plant, run, they're about to fucking lose it.

Also, most plants on the Isle belong to the Overgrowth, and Ginny is... Rather personally invested in that.

Who acts bothered but secretly enjoys every second?

Have you seen them? The annoyance and insults are basically foreplay.

Which one would you team up with for a game of laser tag?

I'm not entirely sure what laser tag is, but, Harrriet, hands down.

Anthony thinks such a thing is below his dignity and I feel like Ginny would abandon the team thing about two minutes in for a personal vendeta.

Who gets more easily embarassed?

I'm gonna go with Anthony.

You see, he's not a chronic attention seeker with no concept of personal boundaries.

Who would make a family album with physical pictures?

I think that Anthony would like the memento, but wouldn't put a lot of energy into assembling it. He mostly just prints some photos.

Ginny might enjoy decorating it, actually, scrapbook style. Glitter is involved.

Harriet claims she has better shit to do but she'd totally open it at two in the morning.

Who would confess their love first?

Lol, no.

If anyone's professing their love, they're on deathbed.

...or they screwed up majestically and need a major backup at the Isle gang scene. I wouldn't count it.

Who whines the most when they get sick?

Ginny whines the most in general. Attention whore.

Harriet, well, Sammy is the one stuck with her when she's trully sick.

Anthony, yeah. He'd never admit it's whining tho.

Who's got the highest pain tolerance?

One of the girls. Alcohol and sedatives//excitants tend to do that to person.

Who's got the most physical scars?

Probably Harriet.

But, you know. I think all of their hands are pretty scarred, all for different reasons.

The children ran everywhere. Parents were rarely safe.

Harriet, Ginny and Uma tried to take in as many as they could. Siblings running to the other. Children begging to either be taken in or killed, for the streets were a death sentence.

Yet, kids still disappeared out from under their noses. A wharf rat here. A little prince there. Their bodies were never found

My version of Anthony Tremaine!

The only grandson of Lady Tremaine and the second eldest of all of her grandchildren (this leaves many people to assume he's the favorite and they're not entirely wrong, he's just one of the few she's willing to put up with. ((the real favorite is Dizzy and he knows it)))

His father is one of Shan Yu's soldiers, who was in a committed relationship with Anastasia at first.

His father immediately disowned him and his mother the second Anastasia had announced she was pregnant, and since then, Anthony prided himself on being a Tremaine.

He doesn't know who his father is, and at this point, he tries to act like doesn't care.

He treats most of his sisters and cousins as nuisances, but you wouldn't dare disrespect any of them around him (and don't refer to them as "half-siblings" either).

He's not a fighter or warrior of sorts, so don't expect a fight (he'd more than likely lose), but he's smart and clever enough to find other ways to exact revenge.

Bisexual, he doesn't lean toward any gender in particular and doesn't really bother hiding it.

Self taught on the piano, Lady Tremaine offered lessons but neither of the two had the patience for the other.

Anthony's also a talented dancer, he learned ballroom from Lady Tremaine, and mimicked what he saw on TV (his favorite show was Dancing With The Royals).

Lady Tremaine also taught him how to sew, which is why most of his clothes are fitted perfectly for him (he started the patched leather trend).

Anthony is no stranger to makeup. He usually sticks to a natural colored lip and eyeshadow, and concealer, but he also contours his face and sticks to darker colors to make himself look older and more mature ("like a lord") for special occasions.

He's as vain, greedy, and self-centered as any other villain on the Isle, but he stays in his own lane. As long as you mind your business, he has no real problem with you.

His desire to leave the Isle rivals that of Uma's. He's usually very low-key about it though.

Anthony swears that he will regain his family's property, assets, and social standing, and he's willing to do so, no matter the cost.

Despite the Isle's unique societal norms, Harriet was the first person Anthony truly fell for and they became the first official power couple of the VKs (This would then boost his reputation with his peers, and have others throwing themselves at him, thus ruining their relationship and resulting in Harriet and Ginny's fight at Uma's birthday party).

Once he gets to Auradon, he and Chad become sworn enemies. (And it doesn't help that he and Audrey start dating soon after Maleficent's second attack at Auradon Prep)

This ship tournament has shown me that Anthony x Ginny x Harriet has more fans than I ever could've imagined. Not passing judgement, just an observation.

But hey, you guys were up against one of probably the top 3 most popular ships in the fandom and didn't even lose by THAT big a margin so that's pretty impressive!

Worst Descendants names you've ever heard and why? You can rant about it.

oh my god the NAMES of descendants jesus christ. i haven’t read all the books yet, so there are some characters i don’t know enough about to care about the name.

mal is just. it’s a good name but i don’t like that her full name is maleficent. feels weird to me. personally i like melinoe as her name, since she’s also hades’ daughter.

there is no way the evil queen would name evie JUST evie. that has to be a nickname. honestly any full name is better, but i like everild because everild grimhilde has a nice ring to it. though i don’t get why her mother’s name is now her last name but oh well.

jay deserves a cultural name. please. give him one. i personally like jayanti, but i know a lot of people say it’s short for jakeem.

for carlos I’m just confused why he has a spanish name when he’s british.

ben’s name is fine but why is his last name beast. whose decision was that. also, why is beast called beast the whole time when his name is adam. king adam sounds so much better than king beast.

why is there harry and harriet. i know they were made by different authors but like. please. communication between writers. personally i like to think harriet is called captain a lot. she hates it (hook insists he be called captain and not dad or anything like that)

jordan is the same as jay. give her an arabic name. i like joudah.

lonnie and li’l shang are abominations. disrespectful to their culture on soooo many levels. i saw someone say lonnie is a nickname for lanying and i sort of adopted that. so thanks whoever that was. for shang i’ve seen sheng and shuang, but i don’t really have a preference.

it’s bothers me that claudine’s name is close to her father’s. i don’t really have a headcanon for her actual name any why she’s called claudine but yeah that just bothers me.

for ginny, i could actually see gothel being a genuine last name, so i’m not super mad about her last name being gothel. however, her first name is definitely a nickname (i like gwendolyn).

i fully think most of the names are nicknames, these are just ones that bother me more.

Isle Council

Just like Auradon has an official council called together to discuss and vote on important issues, the Isle has a semi-official one. Regular meetings, happening every time the seasons change, are usually nothing of note. But when the council is called outside of these scheduled meetings? That has only happened twice. Both times were events the Isle, both adults and children, would never forget.

4. Date nights

Well, given they're Isle kids, they don't really have a concept of date nights at all, at first.

But I feel like they'd enjoy just a simple quiet night away from responsibilities, maybe watching something. They deserve it.

Now, is any of them actually paying for a streaming service?

Lol, absolutely not.

The Tremaine kids guilttripped Cinderella and/or Jane into paying for an account for them, and it took about a day for most of the Isle kids to share the password.

There won't be repercussions cos Ben is the highest jurisdical authority and he thinks that the Isle kids can do whatever as long as it isn't murder. Yes, the standards are in hell.

Alternatively, some fancy restaurant, but they'd still be putting out a face for the public, and I feel like they deserve to relax completely.

5. Jealousy

Oh, YES, all of them do get jealous. And it WILL be everyone's problem.

There's been murder (... attempts. And accidents. Obviously. Nothing you can prove.) („They fell on my knife. They fell on my knife nineteen times.“) (They did not in fact fall on her knife, but are you gonna argue with Harriet Hook with that look in her eyes? They should have just known better.)

There's been some very unsubtle poisonings – Ginny. She's sending a message, yes? She's sending a message. (Both Anthony and Harriet received a mildly poisoned coffee or a drink from her at some point, when she felt like she wasn't getting enough attention.)

Anthony, unfortunately, can't murder people outright, family reputation and neutrality and all that, so he's usually just left quietly seething and glaring. Given the massive daddy issues the Isle (collective) has, that's quite enough to send people running.

They're also making out in public. Just to make a fucking point.

Anthony: well, Harriet asked me what my favourite colour was, and then told me I was wrong.

Ginny: so, pretty normal?

Anthony: yup.
