Dorothy Harriet Camille Arnold was a wealthy socialite and heiress. In December of 1910, she disappeared without a trace. She was the daughter of perfume importer, Francis Rose Arnold. The family lived in New York City. Following her graduation from the Veltin School for Girls, Dorothy tried to make it as a writer; her writing career failed, however, much to the amusement of her family.
At around 11AM on the 12th of December, 1910, Dorothy went shopping in the city for a dress. Her mother, Mary, offered to come with her but Dorothy declined. Numerous people saw Dorothy on her shopping trip spring the city.
She was last seen walking through Central Park at around 2pm. When she didn’t arrive home for dinner, her family were worried but not enough to report her missing. They believed the disappearance would attract unwanted attention, thus they didn’t didn’t report it. In fact, when Dorothy’s friend called that night, her mother said that Dorothy was at home in bed.
While they didn’t contact the police, they contacted their family lawyer who came to search her room. He found that nothing was amiss but found letters stamped with foreign postmarks. He also found folders containing transatlantic streamliners. He theorised that Dorothy may have eloped with a man to Europe.
Eventually, the family contacted the police several weeks later and offered money for any information as to her whereabouts. Despite an exhaustive and countrywide search, Dorothy could not be found. Police announced that they believed she was still alive but her family weren’t so sure.
They theorised that she had been murdered while walking through Central Park. Some others considered she took her own life. Following her knock backs during her attempting writing career, she wrote a letter to a friend in which she said: “Failure stares me in the face. All I can see ahead is a long road with no turning. Mother will always think an accident has happened.”
The case remained at a standstill until the following year when Francis received a postcard stating “I am safe which was signed “Dorothy.” Another widely believed theory was that Dorothy had become pregnant and had sought an abortion and died during the botched procedure. In 1916, an illegal abortion clinic was uncovered by police. Furthermore, several women had gone missing after visiting the clinic, adding more suspicion to the theory.
While there have been numerous reported sightings of Dorothy, what became of her still remains unknown.

List of Nickelodeon Movies productions
Two weeks ago, "Good Burger 2" was released in theaters and on Paramount+ as Nickelodeon Movies' 61st theatrical film ever produced. So far, this movie is killing it at the box office and in digital rental sales. Critics even called it better than the first movie. Here’s how far Nickelodeon has come with their movie brand since the release of their first movie, "Harriet the Spy".
RELEASED
1.) "Harriet the Spy" [PG]
Theatrical Short - "Arnold" [G] (Not available on the home media releases)
Theatrical Release - July 10, 1996
Original Home Media Release - December 10, 1996 (VHS)
2.) "Good Burger" [PG]
Theatrical Short - "Action League Now!" episode, "Rock-a-Big Baby" (Not available on the home media releases)
Theatrical Release - July 25, 1997
Original Home Media Release - December 16, 1997 (VHS)
3.) "The Rugrats Movie" [PG]
Theatrical Short - "CatDog" episode, "Fetch!"
Theatrical Release - November 6, 1998
Original Home Media Release - March 23, 1999 (VHS/DVD)
(NOTE: Nickelodeon's first animated theatrical movie. When "The Rugrats Movie" was first released on VHS, DVD, and LaserDisc in March, the "CatDog" episode, "Winslow's Home Videos" replaces "Fetch!" as its opening short film that plays before the movie, even to this day on the Digital, Blu-Ray (2D and 3D), and Ultra HD Blu-Ray releases.)
4.) "Snow Day" [PG]
Theatrical Release - February 11, 2000
Original Home Media Release - August 15, 2000 (VHS/DVD)
(NOTE: Despite negative reviews, "Snow Day" was a huge box office hit. On December 16, 2022, the film got a musical remake that aired exclusively on Nickelodeon and Paramount+ as a Nickelodeon Original Movie.)
5.) "The Rugrats Movie 2: Rugrats in Paris" [PG]
Theatrical Short - "Edwurd Fudwupper Fibbed Big" [G] (In select theaters, not available on the home media releases)
Theatrical Release - November 17, 2000
Original Home Media Release - March 27, 2001 (VHS/DVD)
6.) "The Little Bear Movie" [G]
Theatrical Release - August 10, 2001
Original Home Media Release - December 11, 2001
(NOTE: Nickelodeon and Paramount own the US distribution rights only. Nelvana has the rights overall. This would've technically counted as Nickelodeon Movies' first film to get a G rating.)
7.) "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" [PG]
Theatrical Release - December 21, 2001
Original Home Media Release - April 2, 2002 (VHS/DVD)
(NOTE: Nickelodeon's first computer animated theatrical film, and the first film to serve as the backdoor pilot for a TV show.)
8.) "Clockstoppers" [PG]
Theatrical Release - March 29, 2002
Original Home Media Release - September 10, 2002 (VHS/DVD)
9.) "Hey Arnold!: The Movie" [PG]
Theatrical Release - June 28, 2002
Original Home Media Release - December 31, 2002 (VHS/DVD)
10.) "The Wild Thornberrys Movie" [PG]
Theatrical Release - December 20, 2002
Original Home Media Release - April 1, 2003 (VHS/DVD)
11.) "Charlotte's Web 2: Wilbur's Great Adventure" [G]
Theatrical Release - March 21, 2003
Original Home Media Release - September 9, 2003 (VHS/DVD)
(NOTE: Co-production with Universal Pictures, who owns the international rights for this movie. Nickelodeon and Paramount own the US rights. This sequel bombed in the box office following negative reviews.)
12.) "The Rugrats Movie 3: Rugrats Go Wild" [PG]
Theatrical Release - June 13, 2003
Original Home Media Release - December 16, 2003 (VHS/DVD)
(NOTE: Nickelodeon's only film to use Odor-Rama. The DVD and Blu-Ray versions of this film however retain this version as an optional bonus feature, despite not having Odor-Rama cards.)
13.) "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie" [PG]
Theatrical Release - November 19, 2004
Original Home Media Release - March 1, 2005 (VHS/DVD)
(NOTE: This was supposed to be the series finale to "SpongeBob SquarePants", but thanks to positive critical and financial feedback, Nickelodeon gave the show more new episodes, and future movie sequels.)
14.) "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" [PG]
Theatrical Release - December 17, 2004
Original Home Media Release - April 26, 2005 (VHS/DVD)

Stephen King on Silo: ‘Mysterious and Terrifically Suspenseful’
‘King's positive review isn't the only good news for the Apple TV drama. New data delves into how Silo beat out its competing streaming shows as the number one most in-demand breakout show... Silo beat out the likes of Netflix's Fubar, which stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, and HBO Max's Love and Death...
‘... [Silo] starts by telling a fairly grounded story of a couple that's trying to conceive their first child. From there, the scope and focus of Silo expand while still prioritizing the human concerns driving the story. Still, as King says, offering his latest recommendation, the show knows how to build up a mystery...’
~ from Stephen King Gives His Honest Review Of Apple TV+'s New Sci-Fi Show by Abdullah Al-Ghamdi (Screen Rant) 6/12/2023
‘More is on the way’
‘If you’re enjoying Silo on Apple TV Plus, good news: more is on the way. The post-apocalyptic series, based on novels by Hugh Howey, is getting a second season. The show premiered on May 5th and is still airing; the finalé streams on June 30th.
‘The show takes place in the titular silo, an underground facility that houses the last remnants of humanity, shielding them from the desolate landscape outside. Season 1 plays out sort of like a small-town mystery that just so happens to take place at the end of the world. It stars Rebecca Ferguson, Common, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, David Oyelowo, Rashida Jones, and Tim Robbins...’
~ from Apple is bringing back Silo for a second season by Andrew Webster (The Verge) June 14, 2023
“In a ruined and toxic future, thousands live in a giant silo deep underground. After its sheriff breaks a cardinal rule and residents die mysteriously, engineer Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson) starts to uncover shocking secrets and the truth about the Silo.”

“Florida, like a piece of embroidery, has two sides to it—one side all tag-rag and thrums, without order or position; and the other side showing flowers and arabesques and brilliant coloring.” Harriet Beecher Stowe, Abolitionist, Author, 1896
“The general wildness, the eternal labyrinths of waters and marshes, interlocked and apparently never ending; the whole surrounded by interminable swamps…Here I am then in the Floridas, thought I.” John James Audubon, Ornithologist, 1831
“I just love it. I just love the way it looks. The way it feels. It’s such a strange place that seems to exist completely on its own. I just kind of, I can’t put my finger on it. It’s the characters and how it’s just such an extreme place.” Harmony Korine, Artist, Film Director, 2019
“Miami seemed not a city at all but a tale, a romance of the tropics, a kind of waking dream in which any possibility could and would be accommodated.” Joan Didion, Author, 1987
“This is the most fantastic place that I have been yet in America.” Tennessee Williams, Playwright, 1941
“The Everglades were like a set of scales on which the forces of the seasons, of the sun and the rains, the winds, the hurricanes, and the dewfall, were balanced so that the life of the vast grass and all its encompassed and neighbor forms were kept secure.” Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Environmentalist, 1947
“I’ve found peace in Florida.” Jack Keroauc, Poet, 1957
“The place is a paradise.” Wallace Stevens, Poet, 1922
“I am happy here, happier than I have been for years. The air is sweet, yes, literally sweet. I am renewed like the eagle. The clang and clamor of New York drops away like a last year's dream.” Zora Neale Hurston, Author, 1932
“Monotonous, they call this land of mine / Who do not know its sameness is a song, Who have not sensed the fact that its design / Is but a sweeping curve the tides prolong. They say that it is lush and overgrown, In need of winter with its wand of death; But they have never walked in groves alone / Where petalled snow came down with every breath, And they have never seen the startled flame / Of great flamingoes rushing toward the sun, Or traced along the quiet path they came / White egrets homing when the day is done.” Vivian Yeiser Laramore, Poet Laureate, 1931-1975
"As I call upon my memories of a Floridian adolescence, I relive that invigorating sensation of driving down the freeway, when the weather is unsure of itself. One minute I'm driving past Flamingo Road through blinding rays of our state’s signature sun; the next I am ambushed by a torrential downpour– only to rediscover that familiar Florida sunshine waiting for me on the other side, just one mile away. I spent my most formative years in a paradise of contradiction, an endlessly flat and vividly green landscape of flamboyancy. My upbringing was nurtured by a hormonal climate that understood the fluctuations of my adolescent spirit. Florida is as blissfully confused as I once was." Camila Mendes, Actress, 2020
“Is there anything more Florida than a flamingo?” Nancy Klingener, Writer, Radio Host, 2018
"For a photographer, being in Florida was like being sent to heaven before you die." Arnold Newman, Photographer, 1987
